La Sombra del Pasado #132 (MX 135)-Thursday 8/20/15

I always get a little misty-eyed when a show comes to an end and especially when it's my last recap. I'm glad I have Muchacha italiana to look forward to and I'm so happy that most of the team is staying on for it.

Eli, hellashelle, Kat and Lila- you are all the best teammates a person could hope for. I really feel like I've been a part of something special on this show.

Eli-your wicked wit is enviable. I wish I had just a smidgen of it. Your ability to compact the episode into such a powerfully funny recap leaves me amazed.

hellashelle-I groaned along with you every time your "nemesis" graced the screen. I totally stole your "long and short" of it a couple times and you were very gracious about it. I thank you for that. I hope I get to be on a recapping team with you again very soon! I hate that I'm too behind on YNCELH to join that conversation.

Kat-How do I even begin to thank you for all your support since DQTQTQ? I am honored and relieved that you haven't fired me.

Lila- I love your enthusiasm. Your love of Telenovelas and the characters in them shines through every line...and sometimes your hatred ;-)

*ahem* I'll get on with it then...

Cris informs Cande that Sev is about to be arrested for the murder of Simoneta Saavedra.

Sev plows through a police checkpoint and the chase begins.

Lola really feels that Simoneta was really starting to regret that she had abandoned her daughter. Lola would have really liked to have known her little brother. Aldonza and Lola both commiserate that a lot of people who have crossed paths with Severiano Mendoza have died prematurely. But it's time for him to pay. Lola agrees and notes that as long as he's free, no one is safe. Aldonza especially is at risk.

The police continue the chase.

Pru wants to beg Aldonza to change her testimony. Val is not happy about that defense strategy. All that will do is put them in debt to Aldonza. Nava suggests that Val listen to her mother's suggestion. (Wow. You know you are screwed when the lawyer is telling to heed the advice of a pill-popping alcoholic.) Val flatly refuses and tells Nava to find another way to get her out. She will NOT have anything to do with that estúpida. This earns Val a nice slap from Pru. Pru yells at her to listen. She asks Val if she understands that's she's being accused of killing her father.

Sev decides to go off road.

Renato tells his father about Hum and Val. Dad fills him in about Silvia's visit. Dad had the distinct impression that Silvia wanted to him to tell Renato her plans. So now Renato knows that Silvia is going to Europe with a one-way ticket. Dad encourages Renato to give it a go with Silvia.

Em is sure Sev was going to fall sooner or later. He never thought it would be because of the coffin table. They have a hate on Sev session. Lola heads upstairs to get her phone and Aldonza tells Em she's glad that he and Lola reconciled.

Sev gets stuck in a ditch. The police are super close behind, so I am going to assume they are all suddenly struck blind and that's why they don't see him flee on foot. Finally they all figure out he's not in the car and they run after him.

Ren drinks and thinks about Aldonza trying to kiss him.

Sev. Cops. Flashlights. Trees. Water. Chase. Shots fired. (They are heard by Aldonza, Em and Lola)

Waterfall. More wild shots (seriously? Do they not have target practice?) Sev jumps over the waterfall. Butch and Sundance he ain't. Geez. Stop shooting. You are just wasting bullets, Mr. Policeman.

Damn. Sev survived the fall.

Irma comes to see a strung-out Pru. Pru tells her that it's not chisme. Val is in jail accused of killing Hum. Irma wants to offer her help to Val. She wants BabyLardo. She'll even pay expenses. She and Uriel just want to be part of the baby's life.

The police inform Cande, Dom and Cris that Sev is a fugitive (OH.EM.GEE. THE ONE ARMED MAN IS THE FUGITIVE. Let me finish giggling.) Cris offers to walk them out so he can head over to El Stantuario and warn Aldonza.

Aldonza talks to Padre J on the phone. She tells him about Val hitting Hum and killing him. She also tells him about finding Simoneta. He asks her to take care of herself. They hang up and Padre J prays that God protect her.

Cris arrives at El Santuario. He tells her about Sev's escape and his last known whereabouts being El Santuario. He assumes that this isn't going to change a thing about their court date. It isn't. After Cris leaves Lola asks if Aldonza is really going to divorce Cris. She is.

Remember that last scene with Val? She was all red-nosed and weepy? Not any more. She's back to her conniving, bitchy self. She wants to make Aldonza change her testimony in exchange for living in El Santuario. Because Val thinks Hum left El Santuario to her in his will (sorry. I've got the giggles again.)

Cande didn't sleep a wink last night. She now realizes that her husband is a murderer and a perv. At Dom's questioning, she admits that whether Roberta was in the picture or not the marriage was doomed to be unhappy. Dom informs Cande that Cris left early to go to El Santuario to look for Sev. Cande curses El Santuario and Sev's obsession with it.

Search party montage. A black scarf is found. Cris identifies it as belonging to Sev.

It's time for Aldonza to leave for her date with Divorce Court. Em offers to go with her and she tells him not to worry about it. Em insists. He says she could not go. He reminds her that the Val's baby is not Cristobal's and Sev will be in jail. Ah, but Aldonza pulls the next excuse out of her...hat. Cande hates her too much. They could never be happy. Em asks if Cande's hate is stronger than the love Cris and Aldonza have for each other. He just thinks it's stupid that she and Cris are apart.

Ren puts pato in charge of things. The house is all his. Now he can just find a great gal and settle down. Pato mopes. THen they get ready to go to Aldonza's divorce court date. Pato wonders if she'll really go through with it. Ren bets she won't.

Divorce court. The judge asks if they are sure they want to divorce and they both say they are. All they need to do is sign the book. Long pause. "Who's going first?" Long pause. Cris finally grabs the pen and signs. He looks miserable. Aldonza grabs the pen and book. Her hands shake. She doesn't sign. Big slurpy kisses to the strains of "Porque te prometí...." The judge congratulates them for getting back together. Ren and Cris shake hands. No hard feelings. Ren has something for them.

Em talks to the Padre, too. Em tells him they almost caught Sev, but he got away.

Ren tells Aldonza he's leaving Santa Lucia to go after Silvia. Pato is in charge of things now. Cris offers to buy Ren's half of the business he started with Aldonza. Remember Mis Planes? Ren will be back for the religious wedding. Pato gives Aldonza an envelope and tells her to consider it a gift from Dr. Zapata. She starts to open it, but Ren says to wait. Cris and Aldonza leave arm in arm and "Those other two" look on.

Aw Geez. Lola and Mari. Don't care. RPC. Oh, Irma wants to make Lola a partner in the store. Mel and Dom show up.

Cris and Aldonza take a walk. She worries that she'll never be able to be his mujer. Therapy is not mentioned. She admits she's still feels traumatized. And I shit you not he tries to kiss it and "te amo" it away. It's a real "love will conquer all" conversation. Cris quotes the theme song. Smoochies and a pissed off recapper.

Using another RPC. Em goes to see Flavia. She's all busted up about Joaquin leaving. Little Ray is asking about him and it's killing her. Em says sometimes people just need to take off and be alone. Joaquin will be back. I so don't care about her.

Aldonza comes home with Cris. Em is so happy for them. Group hug! Cris has to go, but he asks Em to watch out for Aldonza. She thanks Em for talking her out of divorcing the guy who thinks a kiss and a te amo is a good substitute for therapy.

Lola tells Dom and Mel about Irma's offer. Mel is glad she and Em are back together. (Inner feminist rages.) Dom gives Lola a picture of her father. He wrote a dedication on the back "To the light of my days, Lola." Dom has a scapular for Lola and Em.

Nava comes to see Aldonza with Val's offer to "let" Aldonza continue to stay at El Santuario if she changes her testimony. He's real sure of himself. What an ass. I love how Aldonza lets him run his arrogant mouth. Then she informs him that she and Em are the sole owners of El Santuario. She hands over a copy of Hum's will. Camilo tosses Nava out.

Nava goes to see Val in jail. He informs her that Hum changed his will before he died and Aldonza is the owner of El Santuario.

And it was AWWWWE-SOME(™ hellashelle)

Thanks, Sara! Have to giggle myself:

(OH.EM.GEE. THE ONE ARMED MAN IS THE FUGITIVE. Let me finish giggling.)

Back in a flash!

Sara, there have been many times where your exceptional recaps have lifted my spirits and made me smile. Your wit, humor and insight are a constant joy. Your finale was wonderful. Gracias, amiga.

Although this episode may have not been as anti-climatic as others, your bubbling effervescence was superb.

"You know you are screwed when the lawyer is telling to heed the advice of a pill-popping alcoholic" and "Sev jumps over the waterfall. Butch and Sundance he ain't" were my favorites among many great lines.

While I was glad Aldonza and Cris reunited, I can't help but feel it fell rather flat. A few kisses do not a grand romance make. We just weren't treated to the all-consuming passion, built from a slow yet steady yearning that have defined many other memorable couples.

"She worries that she'll never be able to be his mujer. Therapy is not mentioned. She admits she's still feels traumatized". And therein lies the tragedy. There is so much to be dealt with. And I agree with Aldonza - Cande is such a formidable force. How can they integrate her into their lives and be happy?

Like you, I did take grim satisfaction in Nava's sharing the news with Val that El Santuario now belongs to Al and Eman. Excellent.

I didn't care about Flavia either. I do care about Sylvia and Renato and hope we get to see them together.

If any law enforcement folks are watching this, they must be cringing at the ineptitude portrayed here. Thankfully, this is a TN and not real life.

Sara, again, heartfelt thanks.

Diana

Sara...thank you does not seem adequate, but thank you thank you. Am on vacation again and no TV so recap much appreciated

Thanks, Lila, Diana and emeraldrose! I still enjoyed the episode, but I think "fell flat" is a good description. It feels a little too contrived. Maybe it's because we were treading water a few weeks back so this sudden arranging of the chess pieces seems contrived? Is that it?

Enjoy the vacation, emeraldrose! Safe travels!

Thank you, sooo much Sara, my Teammate, my hermana del corazon! I am so happy to be continuing on to Muchacha with you! Thank you for this zingy recap which reflcts my sentiments exactly and in your inimitable, snarky style. A few faves:

Aldonza pulls the next excuse out of her...hat.

Big slurpy kisses to the strains of "Porque te prometí...."

She admits she's still feels traumatized. And I shit you not he tries to kiss it and "te amo" it away. It's a real "love will conquer all" conversation. Cris quotes the theme song. Smoochies and a pissed off recapper.

I don't know. I don't want to be a Debbie Downer so early in the comments, I'll just say throwing us a few crumbs of "romance" in the 11th hour don't get it and quoting the theme song right along as Mijares sang it was just CORRRRR-NY!

And Sara, not only were the cops struck blind but they were suddenly winded and rendered nearly crippled. Those four young strapping police bucks couldn't catch old Sev. And what a hellified left arm: his strokes were worthy of an olympian!

So, Sev is on the lam, silly Aldonza will probably insist on going somewhere or staying in the house alone and Sev will get in, hold her hostage and feel her up while she's frozen in terror.

OK, I'm doing the Debbie Downer thing. How about something happy.

Loved Vile getting the bitch-smirk wiped off her face again when she learned Hum had changed his will! Nyah nyah nyah nyah NYAH!!

Sara, darlin', thank you so much! I look forward to seeing how the Sombra Peeps take this episode apart!

"... hellified left arm..."

That's awesome. I'm sitting in bed with my tablet trying not to laugh and wake up hubs.

Debbie Downer away because I'm right there with you. 11th hour romance doesn't help. And yeah, Cris quoting the song was goofy.

But oh lord Val getting the news that daddy changed the will. That was fun viewing.

Yeah, girl, I had wondered the other day if having killed her Pa would take the bitch out of her. Got my answer today: she was back in the bitchin' saddle! The actress that plays Val is so beautiful. Man,, she doesn't even need any makeup. I have to give it to her, she brought the wench, didn't she?

She really did. It's weird, but I really like the antagonista you love to hate. I never get tired of that trope. Thelma Madrigal was just fabulous.

SARA thank you for being a great recapper, cheerleader, friend, smarty-pants and all around spokesmodel for this TN. Your deft handling of the tragic, the comic and the just plain silly lit up my computer screen on many a dark night (or early morning)--so, thank you. Every one of you recappers deserves a big bouquet of organically grown roses from the Patio!

Well this episode left lots of action yet to come for Friday and Monday, but really it mainly boils down to Sev running amok and getting caught, and Valeria getting in or out of jail.

So one question: did Humberto just tell Aldonza a couple of weeks ago that he was giving El S. to her and Eman, but he didn't actually give her any documentation, is that right? Oh, that was swee-eeet watching Val's face (with its jailhouse pallor) when the abogado delivered the sad news. heeheheee.

J in O

Sara! Thank you! For the recap and for being on the team! I will never fire you! I love your humor and your fabulous memory and your summarization skills!

"You know you are screwed when the lawyer is telling to heed the advice of a pill-popping alcoholic." That sound you heard from the west was me cackling...carry on!

"seriously? Do they not have target practice?" Oh, that's way kinder than what I said. Stupid pointless chase scene!

"OH.EM.GEE. THE ONE ARMED MAN IS THE FUGITIVE." Duuuuuuuude...that's so meta!

"Val thinks Hum left El Santuario to her in his will (sorry. I've got the giggles again.)" Me too. Plus, I'm going to end up quoting this whole thing!

OK, Dominga bringing it with the whole "your marriage was doomed anyway" was not funny, but was very deep. This is some good stuff here, a slow turn toward the light, not a sudden "OK, I'm a good person now! Gotta forgive me!" A process.

I think the non-divorce was supposed to be moving or something, but I really was laughing the entire time. At first, when they got there, I realized I didn't want them to divorce, and then when I thought they were going to sign, I thought "Eh, fine, just do it already." And then they draaaaggggggged out the signing and I couldn't stop laughing. OK, OK, we get it!

I say Lola should take the offered partnership. She's basically made a huge investment, so that seems fair to me.

"Smoochies and a pissed off recapper." I want to pretend that whole scene never happened, because boy did it harsh my buzz! Sorry, kids, love does not conquer all, not without some hard work, which, yes, sometimes takes place in the office of a licensed mental health professional!

"Dom has a scapular for Lola and Em." Possibly this was the real message of the show...never take off your scapular! And now we know some of what Dominga keeps in the infamous cross-body bag! Yay!

The whole thing with Nava at the end was just beautiful. There was no part of that I didn't enjoy.

Thank you again, Sara, for everything!

Thanks J and 5ft.

I'm about to head off to bed, but I'm leaving a pitcher of artillery punch at the petty, bloodthirsty and vengeful table. Drink up west coast peeps. :D

Sara- Since you're all over the blog, on multiple tns that I'm watching, this doesn't feel like a goodbye. I get to continue reading your sarcastic gems. Thank you for being one of the hardest working and dedicated recappers we have the privilege of reading.

Loved, loved Vile learning ES was willed to Al-Eman. So deliciously perfect, after she tried to use it as a bargaining chip to get her way.

We knew the SL police were inept. They just continued to be true to themselves. I loved that shot of Sever standing at the top of the falls and then going over.

Why did your inner feminist protest at Dom and Mel being happy Lola got back with Eman? They had just expressed their pride that she will be the first business owner in the family and encouraged her to accept the deal with Irma.

Well, two more episodes to go and plenty of time for the fugitive one armed man to wreak havoc and try one more time to hurt Al. The only question is, who will take him down for good? Cris, Al, Eman, Don Camilo, PJ, Cande, and the police are all likely candidates. PJ looked really worried, and I noticed that Al conveniently left out that Val had been trying to kill HER when she hit Hum, and Sim/Viv was the body found in the trunk in ES. Even the bit she told him was worrying enough. I had hoped Eman provided him with more details.

Kat- It's like the writers were listening to us about Dom's bag, when she came right out and said she always keeps that picture of her son in there.

Thanks Vivi! You always calm my raging inner feminist. Thanks for clarifying that scene :-)

JinO-Hum had already signed ES over to the siblings and gave Al the paperwork. But from all the conversations he had with Ren, it seemed like that could be contested somehow if he died before it was all made public. That's why he also stipulated it in his will to make double sure. It was the copy of the will Ren gave Al this episode. So no one can dispute it.

Vivi, it's kind of creepy, this whole show feels like they kept winking at us. If only they had listened on some of the bigger things!

Diana, "If any law enforcement folks are watching this, they must be cringing at the ineptitude portrayed here." I feel for them. Even the fake cops from other TV shows would be shouting at the screen!

Emeraldrose, I hope you're enjoying your vacation :D

Lila, you are so eloquent! "Nyah nyah nyah nyah NYAH!!" Took the words right out of my mouth :D

J, thank you for the virtual roses! I think the paperwork wasn't ready yet when Humberto told them. He brought the transfer paperwork over the night Val ran him over, and then today's paperwork was copies of the will. I'm so glad Renato suggested that!

Awwww, Sara this was awesome. All the anvils are falling where they may. Val got hers in jail, flavia got hers, pru is gettin hers. Sev's is a monsoon of anvils, he'll die.

The one armed guy is "the fugitive," LOL!!! Now thats a turn around.
Those police need their thick mustashes with their black uniforms, and those hats with stars on them and their black sticks and that funny comedy cappers music, chasing sev.

I knew they wouldn't Devorce. Maybe by the time of the wedding she will have had therapy. Aren't there 2 more nights left?
If I were cande, I'd clean everything of sevs out of that house, fumigate his room, it would be like he never lived there when I got done cleaning house. I WOULD REDECORATE, SEV
WHO? Not a trace of him would be left.
THE END!!! FIN!!! but thats just me.:-D

Vivi and Diva, thanks for the clarification; so the deeding over plus the will was like double insurance. Whew!

Why oh why did Cristobal have to drive to Las Animas "to see if they had any news", knowing his psycho dad is on the loose nearby? Cris: use the phone! Or take Aldonza with you, sheeesh!

J in O

Lol, Nina, yes, cartoon music while the cops did their chase scene would have been perfect!

J in O, Cris must really love driving or something. They have resisted using phones on this show so often! I think he drove over to tell Aldonza about Sev in person, too. I was too busy being shocked that Cande didn't say a word to wonder why he didn't just call.

thanks so much, Sara, for your faithful and funny recaps. I always look forward to them. I especially appreciated your icon of the melon wearing the leopard belt. You are the kind of person who makes things happen.I missed the first 20 minutes because I was reading (the fifth book in the Outlander series The Fiery Cross), so I did not see Sev doing his Fugitive\Sundance impression.o

Hub and I had dinner at our favorite restaurant tonight , and I noticed that one of their special drinks was a melon cucumber martini. However. I did not try one.I had a whiskey sour there the other night and could barely walk.

Kat, I had a similar thought about Dom's crossbody bag, but I decided that it was filled with emergency scapulars to hand out as needed.

I wonder if Thelma has sealed her villain status with this role. She is great at portraying someone you can love to hate.

Susanlynn, I hope she has enough for the entire town! They're going to need them between now and whenever Sev finally gets apprehended!

Thelma has been so good in this role, I kind of forgot she was acting. I was too busy wanting to kick her in the shins.

Sara, a reminder honey, you are brilliant. I don't even remember what TN it was but will forever be grateful when I came out of the shadows you were the first that threw love my way.

Smooches and a pissed off recapper!

Hate I'm missing the viewing but all you guys are more entertaining anyway.

Great work, Sara. I know the pain of doing a last entry for a series.

None of these cops know how to surround a suspect? That is what's bothering me the most about this. But the look on Vile's face when she was told she won't get ES was worth it.

More later.

Thank you, Nina, Susanlynn, tofie and Urban!

Nina-"monsoon of anvils" Good one!

Susanlynn - I'm not a drinking woman, but that melon martini sounds pretty good! I will be donning the melon icon for Friday and Monday's episode :-) I still haven't decided what I'll use for Muchacha italiana.

Tofie- I don't remember the TN either, but I'm glad you came out of the shadows. Caray is all the more fun for it. What would we do without your lists?

Urban- that look was delicious!

If this next bit is considered gossip please let me know and I will delete it.

Susanlynn - you made a comment about Thelma sealing her fate as a villain. They are remaking Simplemente Maria and Thelma was auditioning for the part of the prota. She did not get the part and I had to wonder if it was because the producers had her Vile performance in mind.

Sara – Thank you or the recap, the snark, and all the time and work you have put into recapping for us! (((Hugs))) I have enjoyed reading them and learning about the “RPC”. ;-)

”THE ONE ARMED MAN IS THE FUGITIVE”
LOL!!! Perfect, Sara!! Haven’t seen that movie in ages and completely forgot about it.

I could not believe Sev 1) jumped and 2) could actually swim with one arm.

IIRC, was it Pru who asked Irma if she would cover the expenses? It was late when I watched my recording, but I seemed to remember thinking that was a bit nervy. I guess with Hum gone, though, Pru and Vile are broke and heaven forbid Pru ever get a job. Well, Vile for that matter too, but she is otherwise occupied in jail for a while.

Aldi + Cris smoochies = FFWD because, really, show, they finally act like lovers? I wanted to lanza Nerfazos at my TV screen. Meh…

” Maybe by the time of the wedding she will have had therapy. Aren't there 2 more nights left?”
Nina, this is hysterically funny! I just know you are wearing your telenovela beanie hat, like the rest of us!!!

Vivi – your explanation of Hum’s will reinforcing his signing over the property to Aldi makes sense. Before I read that, I was confused also. Thanks!

And I loved the reactions of Nava, Pru and Vile upon learning about the transfer of title to Aldi & Em.

I think Humberto did the bequest in his will in case the title didn't transfer in time. He probably knew he was a dead duck.

Poor man had a hard life. He may have been born to some level of privilege but ended up with Pru for a wife, Vile for a daughter, and Sev for an in-law. I just wish his death had been faked.

What's even funnier about Cris going all the way over to ES to share news of Sever is that one of the times Lola says, yeah we know, my abuelos CALLED me and told me. Clearly, Cris just wants any excuse to ride or drive back and forth.

Is the fact that Lola will now be Mari's boss a type of anvil for Mari? And BabyLardo taking up all of Irma and Uriel's attention too. She's knows she'll look like a fool if her grown self starts pouting like she used to about being ignored, when she will be comparing herself to a baby. LOL!

Urban- I hated seeing Hum die as well. I guess he sort of had to based on TN convention, but if Sev just ends up in jail I will be really mad.

Vivi - I like that interpretation! Mari gets at least 18 more years of being ignored. And if the baby is a boy? Heh heh.

I wonder what Hum decided about his medical private practice in his will? Poor Blanca is out of a job. She looked so sad at the funeral.

Maybe a new, hot doctor can come to Santa Lucia and sweep Blanca off her feet.

Wait, could Ren's dad be the new doc? Nah. Never mind.

Don't think Gonzalo would trade his lucrative D.F. practice, lifestyle, and mansion for a podunk practice in that podunk town, especially now that Renato has left. And Flavia certainly isn't worth a move like that.

So new, hot doc for Blanca :-)

Not that a care, but I guess Joaquin will come back for the wedding and he and Flavia will reconcile.

Doris - you are correct. Pru was the one who was concerned about expenses. I'm sorry I forgot to include that. I do too much multitasking when I recap. I remember thinking to myself that all Pru cared about was expenses. I forgot to note it. Thanks for the reminder. :-)

When Cris said he would go over to LA to see what was new, I, too, thought "why can't you just call them on a phone?" This apparently will serve as a plot propeller. Maybe Sev or his henchman will burn the house down while Aldi, Em & Lola are all asleep. Fuegocide.

Renato could ask his dad if there is a young doctor looking for a Peyton Place practice. I'm sure there will be a candidate.

Sara thank you for this and all your recaps.

Looking forward to the "church" wedding. Hope Father J is allowed to officiate at the exchange of vows. Not sure how happy this couple will be on their honeymoon. Maybe Chris should really think twice about the nuptials. Perhaps they should live together for a couple of years to see if it works out for Chris and for Aldonza. With the reservations she has about fulfilling the marriage contract, the church wedding may prove to be invalid since she lacks, as the Church canonists would say, the 'capax'.

Urban- I wonder if Santa Lucia will learn anything from this.

Anon 10:53- I hope you'll come back and explain "capax" for non-Catholics. A Google search gave me some terms but not it relation to marriage.

I'd like to think it would. But if it didn't I'd recommend to Aldonza, Emanuel, and Cristobal to sell the properties and move far away.

Hella, I think it was you, so many weeks ago, who was discussing here that the romance problem with this novela is the writing. Yes! As people, Pablo and Michelle have great chemistry and could have had this novela on fire from start to finish, but the writers threw in one romance extinguisher after the other.....starting with parental abuso theme. We all think the protags need therapy before they even have a boda or honeymoon, what kind of romance is that!?!? It’s like sitting at a wedding and knowing that the bride and groom should live apart, until they have mucho therapy.......throwing the rice thinking, “Hope they have psychologists where ever they’re going.” **Writers, before you put weird stuff in a plot.......THINK!**

Sara, like Diana said, your recaps lift our spirits and make us smile. You have short and sassy down to an art form. I love the snarky asides that all our recappers have delighted us with every day. Sara, thanks for all your hard work on this novela, it is much appreciated.

Thank you, Sandy! I echo your message to the writers. I feel like they ignored the rape issue and it was very frustrating.

Sara - That was so freaking fantastic! I feel like you vocalized so many of my thoughts perfectly, it's like you were reading my mind! No time to quote (shouldn't even be commenting right now), but a few thoughts:

1) Yeah, Cris totally just wanted to see Aldonza. Not surprised, we all like to see for ourselves that loved one are ok when they're in danger.

2) Nah, Lola being partner's not an anvil for Mari. Neither is the baby since redemptive Mari's all grown up now. Pfft. Plus, since Vero didn't walk into the law offices when I told her to when Pato said "where am I going to find a lady?", it's a given that pretty soon Mari will be married to the best lawyer in town.

3) Ah man! Are you telling me Ren and Sil get the Spanish reunion I wanted for A and C and all we get is their un-divorce?! ::rolls eyes::

4) Pru slapping Val is my new favorite Sombra slap. All of them finding out Val and Eman own ES was PRICELESS!!!

Sara..WHo was in the original Simplemento?

I am going to try out Muchacha. I like the early timedslot since I have to start getting up at 5.30 starting next week, so I need to go to bed by 10.00.

Vivi, I wonder how long before Lola gets over lording her new boss status over Mari. Cleaning, inventory, errands.... Nah, she wouldn't, would she?

Sara, a new hot doctor for Blanca, like we got a new hot priest? Melesio might be on to something--everything being handed over to a younger generation.

Anon at 10:53, I'm pretty sure the Church doesn't care unless one of them is asking for an annulment. You're saying maybe Chris should think twice because...?

Sandy, "Writers, before you put weird stuff in a plot.......THINK!" Word! Hey, maybe they can have a honeymoon/therapy retreat...uh, actually, if there's some kind of all-inclusive couples' resort that's THAT inclusive, sign me up! It's good to get a relationship tune-up every now and then...plus drinks with umbrellas...score!

Wait, wait, I was kidding...but they do exist! http://www.couplesretreatatoceancoral.com/book-now.html

HellaShelle, "since Vero didn't walk into the law offices when I told her to when Pato said 'where am I going to find a lady?'" *sob* Why, Vero, why?! Yeah, Mari's going to be married to the only lawyer in town since the rest have left and Nava's on his way to being disbarred...one hopes.

Thanks, hellashelle! I probably shouldn't be commenting either ;-)

Susanlynn - I think (think) the original Maria was Victoria Ruffo. I'm so happy you're giving Muchacha italiana a try!I understand needing to get up early. There are nights I barely make it through Amores con trampa!

Thanks for that link, 5ft!

Hellashelle...Why don't these people listen to us when we are trying to give them good advice? So frustrating.

Susanlynn, looking through her crossbody bag

Nah. Once Dr. G finds out Joaqand Flavia are getting divorced, he'll be all over that crazy little town, especially with the brand new job opening.

I wanted to see Vero, Joaq and Angelina (was that her name?) happy and instead I get Mari, Flavia and redemptive Cande? Oy.

Sara, there are others, but that's the first one that caught my eye. Perfect honeymoon location for Al and Cris, complete with daily therapy sessions!

HellaShelle, Angelina the pregnant girl with the horrible grandma that Sev bribed to say Padre J raped her? I haven't thought about her in a while. I would hope she's doing ok, but with that grandma of hers :( Hmmm, I'm going to imagine that wherever they were hiding out is where Padre J ended up and he can find Angelina someone less crabby and exploitative to help take care of her and the baby.

Sara - Victoria Ruffo, queen of suffering and tears?! Then maybe I'll just nap through the 7pm TN and focus on YNCELH. That one is crazy dense and so hard to recap! I think I should've stuck with 7pm as a recapper, because that TN is INTENSE.

I wanted to like A and C's reunion. I didn't hate the signature scene. But when Cris's lines were basically the Mijares lyrics and they played the song undere him, it took me right back to the first waterfall kiss when I was rolling my eyes like "what?! haven't you known her for like 30 minutes?!" It's just too cheesy as someone above said.

Thelma did a great job (and a grate job. Her whining was trying), but I think I preferred her younger annoying character in PSMA. Val was exhausting and unrelenting in her horribleness.

Well I'll be damned. I totally forgot about Angelina.

Diva - yes, that character. I thought that story was a great setup, so I'm surprised they dropped it and instead started a whole side thing with Vero/Ant, then dropped that, then brought in new characters for the candy house.

I was kind of hoping Angelina's story would be spun off into the TN taking over the 7pm slot (a la the ENDA/CME mini crossover), but of course, no dice.

PS: My profile pic is a tribute to the Patio: went out with friends and there was a Melon Margarita on the menu! Had to have it, had to use its pic. See you all later at The Naughty Melon!

Hellashelle - I was talking about the original version of Simplemente Maria (from the 80s?)Victoria Ruffo was in that. They are currently casting the remake for which Thelma auditioned but did not get the part.

The new 7pm show stars Livia Brito and Jose Ron.

I actually save my episodes of YNCELH for the weekend. I don't know how y'all go 24 hours to the next episode!

Love the pic, hellashelle! Was it tasty?

Sara - oh, gotcha. I thought Livia Brito's new part was going to be constant crying and suffering if VR had played it once upon a time. Which isn't to say that I don't think VR is great because I do. But every role I've seen her in she's got that pleading, crying face and it's too much sometimes. (I didn't see her in LM. Was she good?)

Was it tasty? YAH! It would've been a great accompaniment to a snarky recap after a ridiculous capitulo.

HellaShelle, she was good. And she cried a lot. *facepalm*

Mmmmmmm, that drink looks delicious!

I hope we do see Don Ant/Vero again. I'm assuming that Arnoldo Medina and Arnoldo Medina III are going to show up at some point. Now that would be really weird to have Lola go to all that fuss and then they just stay home.

Hellashellle- La Malquerida was very good, VR was excellent in it, and her character really did not cry that much, and when she did, it was justified and not annoying. But she was th most normal, well adjusted character in a cast full of complex personalities. Yo No Creo reminds me of it in many ways.

I heartily echo Vivi's comments Hellashelle.

La Malquerida is one of my favorites and Ruffo rocked it. She was strong, determined, smart and when she cried, she had every reason.

Vivi's description was perfect.

Diana

hellashelle - Wow, that Melon Margarita looks yummy and refreshing!

Is anyone thinking of wearing a theme outfit for the Gran Fin? I might wear a black Sev shirt and tie one of my arms down. Or squeeze into a pair of Aldi leggings and borrow some high wedgies.

I'll be out at a rehearsal...I don't think anybody would get it if I wore a red dress with a leopard belt :D Well...assuming I had one. I could easily do a caftan, sloppy lipstick, and a glass of booze, but that probably wouldn't go over well! I'm going to have to think about this....

Hmm...leggings with a ribbon around my neck. No ponytail, but maybe i'll rock high tops as I raise a margarita to my nemesis. Green eyeshadow, Cande braids and a cross body bag to finish it off.

hellashelle - NO! No green eyeshadow, please. It brings the wearer bad luck. Did we learn nothing from watching this turkey? ;-)

OK, that's two big lessons...always wear a scapular, and never wear green eyeshadow!

Oooh, I need to see if I still have my scapular from my Catholic School daze.

Doris I thought about that, but since it's the last episode and they've already butched C and A's lovely story to the point of laughability, I see no harm in paying tribute for an hour...(it's also possible I've started on the margartitas and cupcakes already and have succumbed to foolishness as a result).

What was that? Margarita cupcakes? ;)

No, but also YES!!!

Joaq can get with blanca. By the way joaq's eyes are gorgeous. A girl could drown in those eyes.
Pur should have been spankin that but(vals) years ago, to late now the police will have to
Take over. And sadly it often happens that way. That slap was awesome tho, surprised the heck outta me. But I liked it.
Hella, I like the undevorce, the bad guys loose, hooohoo!!

Hey now...These comments are getting me psyched about the finale. Monday is the first day of the fall semester, so I will be wearing my warm weather wardrobe..a long sundress and sandals, but I could change into my cold weather wardrobe which looks a lot like Pru's look..black slacks, a long sleeve black top and a cardigan . I just looked in the freezer and found a frozen readymade Marguerite that older daughter put in there about five years ago.I guess that it would not kill me,so I will defrost that to toast the end of this ride.

Add me to the list of those who loved LM. Victoria was very good in that one. I loved to hate Christian Meier who played a similar role in Dona Barbara. Hey, where has Edith Gonzalos gone ? Now there was a girl who could bring the heat .

Susanlynn, yet somehow I forgot today is only FRIDAY! So we still have an episode tonight.

I can neither confirm nor deny that my inability to remember what day it is has anything to do with any frozen margaritas I may or may not have found in my own freezer :p

Lesson #3...Never buy a coffee table that is big enough to put a body in .

Lesson #4...Do not be fooled into thinking that a ponytail will make you look like a teen...it will not..but it will make you look like you are trying too hard to look young.

Whoops, yes, I forgot that one! So, scapular-yes, green eyeshadow-no, coffin table-hell no!

Doris, "Or squeeze into a pair of Aldi leggings and borrow some high wedgies." Ha ha!! You would look fantastic in leggings and high wedgies!! Love to see you meet me for lunch in that! Of course, I'll wear something nice like Irma, appropriate dress with long coat!

Edith Gonzales is at Azteca right now under a three-year contract. I miss her big time because she is one of the greatest actresses Televisa ever had.

lesson #5....melons should be served chilled or, even better, used to make melon liquor...they should never be roasted.

I just had to identify pies to prove that I am not a robot...now I want pie.

Sandy - I would be arrested for a Crime of Fashion! In my younger days I might could have pulled it off, but now that I'm (ahem) do a certain age and my figure has betrayed me, um, no. LOL. Let's do lunch soon!

Lesson #6....Don't be afraid to take a fashion risk. If a melon can wear a leopard belt....so can you. Just say "yes" to leopard.

Susanlynn, girl, you are on fire! Solid lessons from La Sombra! Keep 'em comin'!

Late to the party and haven't even had time to read the comments, which I enjoy as much as the superb recaps. But oh my, love your style Sara, and was so touched by your heartfelt appreciation for your team, and team leader Kat. Well done, amiga mia.

"Waterfall. More wild shots (seriously? Do they not have target practice?) Sev jumps over the waterfall. Butch and Sundance he ain't. Geez. Stop shooting. You are just wasting bullets, Mr. Policeman."

That's typical of why I love your writing. Love the casual but staccato pace. And the funny side comments. You have been a fave since you started recapping on Sortilegio. Is my memory right on that one?

But the winning line is still "...pulls the next excuse out of her...hat". Lord! I was ready to slap her myself that time. And groan, those poor actors having the speak the song lyrics to each other. Just. So. Dumb.

But. O.K.

Anyway, Valeria has been thwarted once again. Sev, hopefully, is wet and cold and miserable somewhere. And we can wait serenely for more well deserved anvils to rain down.

In the meantime, thanks a million for recapping this while doing double and triple duty on other shows as well. Your dedication, along with your team, is why this corner of the world thrives with good comments and good vibes. Mil Gracias.

Loved the comments today! I did a lot of giggling.

I'm heading home to change into my melon dress with leopard print belt. I want to be ready for Lila's recap.

(JudyB- Sortilegio was before my time. I lurked a few times on Pasión, started commenting on Soy tu dueña and Triunfo de Amor was my first recapping experience.

Well, hey, I loved the recaps so much I took them back even further! Hmmm...does this mean short-term memory problems or long-term memory problems? Oh well, the advice in these telenovelas is to "leave the past behind" and I seem to be doing that quite well.

Hey, Sara! I'll probably have to wear a modest length, house dress or moo moo with a cardigan over it and sensible flats in honor of Adelina. I have a red moo moo but I shan't wear that for obvious reasons!

Lila, that moo moo sounds more kind Dominga if you add the crossbody bag.

Hey, Dominga's good! She's awesome and I can wear the red one! Thanks, Doris! Oh yeah, got a perfect cross body bag, too!

Maybe someone can print out that cat face Eli posted with Monday's recap and wear it as a Cris mask. ;-)

I may defrost that Marguerite in my freezer tonight to start the celebration early. I can save half of it for Monday night because if I drink the whole container, I will probably sleep all weekend. Maybe I'll put some Cheetos in my crossbody bag. I don't feel like dressing up in my Pru clothes, so I might just wear a scarf with my usual tee and shorts.

So..since L and Chris had to say those song lyrics, what song lyrics would you choose to recite to your significant other ?

I don't generally respond but here goes for Sara at 11:01 and La Diva Desert 5ft Latina 12:02.
First Sara: "capax" (Latin) can be translated as 'capable', able to', 'fit for' and 'receptive to' In the case of Aldonza, if she will never have sex with Chris, well she lacks the 'capax' to enter into and conclude a valid Catholic marriage because one of the condition for a valid marriage is that both parties intend to remain faithful to one another and are open to children (which means having sex).
Second 5ft Latina: in a way you are correct that the Church would not get involved unless Chris got sick of Aldonza's inability to have sex with him after the marriage. Chris, since he went through with a Church wedding, would have to go through the annulment process (and its hassles) if he wanted to marry someone else. The Church tribunal or the annulment process
simply declares that no valid marriage ever existed from the moment of the exchange vows. The annulment is however necessary for both of them if they ever wanted to remarry in the Church. So that's why I think Chris should live with A (and she gets therapy!) before they exchange vows in the Church. Of course they would be living in sin but well that's simpler than having to shell out about a $1000.00 for the annulment.

Oooo, Susanlynn, you're bringing out your inner DJ again:

"As, by Stevie Wonder" with
"Always and Forever, by Heat Wave" a close second.

Oh, Susanlynn, you romantic, you! Yes! We need some after Sombra left us flat!

Lila...I !ove me some Stevie. My sweet dad used to call me and sing "I Just Called to Say I Love You" to me every once in awhile.

I think that I might recite three of favorite songs : " At Last" by Etta James...."When I Fall in Love" by The Lettermen...and "Sugarpie, Honeybunch" by the fantastic Four Tops.

I'll be dressed as Pru for the finale. Lipstick smears no problem, not with my overbite (grew up pre-orthodontia enthusiasm). And I wear loose flowing tops with tights to teach because I have to wear a cordless microphone pak under my tops.

Hmmm...what song would we sing to our spouse? I guess "Hit the Road Jack" is not appropriate.

Ha! JudyB! ;D Niiice, Susanlynn!

Hm, yeah, I was going to go with "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" but that's not really appropriate either. What can I say, we're weird :D

Wow..had to check out the lyrics for that one. Hysterical. Making out in cars is a wonderful memory. Very American. Not much of that in Europe. But then their cars are so dang small!

For some of the dashed romances on this one (and they were legion) I like "Unbreak My Heart" by Toni Braxton.

I'm dressed and ready to start the Fin to end all Fins-Bring on the recaps, Lila and Eli.

Hmmm. Song for my significant other...

A Sunday Kind of Love by Etta James would be good.

The University of Alabama Fight song

Sway by Dean Martin

Oooo, nice, Sara! A little over 10 minutes! I have absolutely no idea what's going to happy with these koo koo writers!

I enjoyed reading all of your song selections !

Ah yeah, we used to call it "parking." One spot is right by the local golf course that was put in a few years ago on a neighboring farm. Hub has been known to share this info with guys as they get to that area of the course. Thanks for sharing that bit of history.

Kat, is that song by Meatloaf ?

Susanlynn, yes, it is. I've got such a refined musical palate :p
