La Sombra del Pasado #134, 08/24/2015 (Mx 136 Part 2): The End of Our Tale
Now to the recap!
Ladies, gentlemen, here's a sight no one ever thought they'd see: Candela is on her knees, crying and praying for Aldonza's safe return, she also prays for Cristobal- she prays for him not to kill his father because that's a crime that would follow him around forever. Then, she wipes her tears and a look of defiance takes over, it looks like she's decided that she must take action, more on this shortly.
Cristobal and Padre J are still searching for Aldonza, they ride off to meet up with Mel and the rest of the search party.
I'll see you in hell:
Aldi has managed to get the upper hand on Sev, while he's on his knees she continues to taunt him, first by telling him that he is a pig that can only get a woman by assaulting her, then she tells him she got what she wanted most: to unmask him in front of the whole town and prove that he was not the honorable man he made himself out to be. Then she asks him what it feels like to know that in the end she got ES back and she twists the knife a little bit more by telling him that even his plan to keep her apart from Cris failed.
Cris now hates him and they will be getting married in church (so suck on that!)- Aldonza clearly never watches Game of Thrones because if she did she would know that you don't gloat till your enemy is dead, Oberyn Martell taught us that, may that beautiful man rest in peace *sniff, sniff*
Sev dares her to shot him and she does. In the ear. Seriously. Sev screams out in pain and Aldi tells him that that shot was payback for the deaths of her father and aunt and that he will spend the rest of his miserable life in the pokey, because this is a novela Sev manages to recover enough to knock Aldonza down and take her gun. He attempts to shoot her, unaware of the fact that there was only one bullet in the gun-Aldi and Sev both rush to get a hold of the gun that does have bullets and Sev wins that battle.
Sev gets ready to finish off Aldi but he also does not watch GoT because he wastes time telling her how she's going to die, this buys Aldi some much needed time because next thing we know Candela has crashed the party at what I call the barn of death. Sev wants to know how she got there and she says that God guided her steps (ummm okay) and she's there to kill him before Cris does it,"I'll see you in hell" she says, then she does it, she pulls the trigger and kills Sev, however, Sev also gets off a shot- a second later Cande pulls her coat aside and realizes she's been shot, she slowly falls to the ground.
The gunshot has helped Cris locate the barn where Aldonza and his parents are, he rushes in and finds his mother crumpled on the ground, his father lies dead a few feet away. Cris rushes to his mom and cradles her in his arms, she's still alive and uses her last moments to beg forgiveness. She wants Cris and Aldi to be happy and she does not want her death to get in the way of that, if in life she kept them apart maybe in death she can finally allow them to be together, she tells them that all the hate she carried with her turned her life into a living hell and when Cris tells her that she'll be okay she replies by saying that she's very tired and with that Cande makes her exit. Question:Padre J was with Cris so why did Cris arrive alone?
Daylight finally comes and the barn of death is illuminated by the sunlight, a new beginning is here.
Now in order to finish this at a reasonable time I'm going character by character and I'll tell you all about their happy endings or in some cases not so happy endings:
Joaquin and Flavia: The love of my life just died, so I guess I'll settle for you
Flavia is at home with little Ray, she's pretending to be a kissing monster and is kissing and tickling the little boy. Little Ray asks when his daddy is coming home (uh, he's only been gone for a day kid)- Flavia tells him she's not sure but that she prays every night for his return, Ray says that he also prays for that, neither he nor Flavia realize Joaquin is standing behind them. Ray asks his parents if this means they will love each other again and Joaquin tells him he can't promise anything but that he's willing to give things a try. I guess when the love of your life dies you might as well settle for your wife.
Don Camilo lives!:
Hell yeah, my favorite body guard is ok! He survived the gunshot and Aldonza, Lola, E-man and Cris all visit him.
After the visit to Don Camilo Aldi and Cris go to ES and jump into the river, the Mexican broadcast had them getting naked, they both talk about finally being able to start fresh.
The Lagos family finally get the truth:
The no-name detectives get the truth from Javier- he spills and tells them about all of Sevs misdeeds:
- That Sev had Abelardo killed
- Sev had Aldonza's apartment set on fire
- That Sev was responsible for Padre J's accident
- That Sev had it out for Aldi the whole time

All in all I was very happy with this Fin.
I'm glad you said it aloud so I don't have to be my usual negative Nelly, but I liked Em and Lola's wedding attire so much more. Has Alex Sirvent ever had a lead galan role? He needs one.
So with you on the Pru and Tomas scene. They both killed it. One more example of the fabulous acting.
I loved seeing Aldi so happy and they did give us some of that romance we've been craving.
Oddly my favorite scene of the night was the one where Em and Cris were out riding.
Now about Cande. I hurt for her by the end of this thing. She was complicit in a lot of Sev's atrocities but she was filled with regret and guilt at the end. She seemed to finally see all the wrong she had done and allowed to be done. I hope she's at least in purgatory. Dom loved her and Cris loved her. They both seemed saddened by her passing. There was something good deep down in there.
So no one ever found out Pru was behind the attack on Silvia? Pru got off easy, so did Severiano.
I teared up reading your recap when you wrote "more on this shortly" simply because it reminded me of Mad's "back to this in a tick".
And I love your range. You can go from poetic "Daylight finally comes and the barn of death is illuminated by sunlight. A new beginning is here."
to wisea$$: "these two never solved anything and you expect them to help you?"
I still have trouble visualizing the lusty, equal-opportunity Tomas as a priest, but I loved his music! The instrumental accompanying his motorcycle ride was fabulous!
"Pru now travels with booze"
"My ovaries explode"
Such great lines, conveying so much in so few words. A great skill.
At first I was annoyed that Sev got off with a simple bullet to his alleged heart. But then I got swept up in the other happy endings and I was okay with it. Strangely though, Valeria was marked for the greatest suffering...a lifetime of terrifying horror we can imagine. She was awful. I didn't like her. But her crimes didn't match the horror of Sev's.
Flavia and Joaquin. What can I say? But I grew up with the same dictum. Once you have kids, you MAKE the marriage work, no matter what. When galans divorce in these telenovelas, it's only because they were tricked into marriage and either the baby wasn't theirs or the mother is mistreating the child. Flavia demonstrated repentance and changed her behavior. Little Ray wants them together. Not his fault his parents' relationship is seriously damaged. So. Okay.
The star of this show was...and still is...the waterfall. I was hypnotized by the sight of those incredible cascades of water. Ditto for the beautiful horses. Nothing was more beautiful or spoke more of love than the incredible glory of Nature in this one.
Dear Eli, I pray you are sleeping the peaceful, deep sleep of the young and that you awaken fresh and full of energy (and with your ovaries intact!)
Strangely, I was Ok with all the happiness, couplings and weddings and just floated along with the joy.
Pru's outcome was a disappointment to me, her class superiority wasn't addressed in depth, her alcoholism yes, her elevated social views...NO! I always thought Pru was far worse than Cande, and Cande died and Pru got a redemption in the loving hands of Thomas. NOT FAIR!
I wonder who chose Aldonza's wedding gown, I really thought that was the ugliest dress I have ever seen. I couldn't take my eyes off the rhinestone collar and brooch. Maybe they saved a lot of money on the dress by buying it at Goodwill. Meoooow....
While I'm being negative in my first comments, there were things that I loved.....more later.
I got warm fuzziness from this fin. The only end I wasn't happy about was Joaquin's quick turnaround. But, Judy is right. And we should have known that a tn would not allow a young couple with a young child, who are married in the church, divorce.
I looked at the Mexican version, to see the love scene that Uni completely cut. Yowza! They really saved it all for the end. Another scene I did not see on Uni, unless I blinked and missed it, was Al and Joaquin running into each other at the falls. They both went because they were thinking of Adelina and how much she loved the place. The water reminds Joaquin of her green eyes. We get a flashback to the scene where Adelina first takes baby Al to the falls. Al and Joaquin hug and cry.
Glad they waited months to a year before the couple's tied the knot, after the tragedies. Loved the honeymoon location. Loved: the scenes of the harvest; the boys riding through THEIR land; the Lagos fam happy with the baby; the party scene with Ray running through and getting hugged and kissed by everyone, before being taken by Dom to a table full of sweets (thanks Marga and Arnoldo); Tomas on his moto and confounding his new seminary classmate with his slang and Tomas-isms; Juana taking the furniture and going to work at ES (for Eman, I assume, she always liked him); any scene with Dom and Mel.
I'm Ok with Flavia and Joaquin. While she actually left her husband and child, he was very unfaithful in his heart with Alde, Flavia at least repented her love, Alde had to die for Joaquin to look again at his wife. They both ADORE Ray and will be partner/parents in raising him, they will have joy. Flavia will make the marriage work. I'd love to see the actor playing Joaquin with a better hair piece, he always looked strangely put together and that hurt his character I think.
Yes, Vivi, the ending with the camera following Ray was WONDERFUL, I loved it!
JudyB - I loved the waterfall scenes, too. I wish there had been more throughout the run of the show.
All in all, it was a satisfying ending for me. In fact, I did not delete it from my DVR because I want to watch it again. That's a first!
First – the cinematography. Oh. My. Goodness. What beautiful cinematography for our Gran Fin!!! This show has earned and deserves a reward at the Premios
Tomas’s scenes were my favorite and I was truly laughing out loud. There is no better priest/minister than a reformed bad boy! And those flowing robes on the motorcycle …. love it!
The scene with Tomas and Pru was very well done!!!
While Sev’s anvil wasn’t as big as I had hoped, we were rewarded with seeing him crying like a baby from the pain of the gunshot, begging Aldonza, etc. Way cool visual effect of the bullet exiting his body!
When Cande was dying in Cris’s arms, I kept wondering --- doesn’t either of them have a cell phone? to call 911?
I guess I am the only person on the Patio who liked Aldonza’s wedding dress and thought it suited her character perfectly.
Mari never told her mother about stealing the store money from her purse. Hhhmmm…..
Where were the melons? I guess they diversified their crops?
Yah, Doris, the whole death scene of Cande I kept thinking "call 911"! Other than that, and Sev's too-quick death, I had no quibbles.
Favorite scene hands down: Lola and Em on Solitario after their wedding. Oh my that boy looked handsome! And when Lola looked back over her shoulder as Solitario pranced... oh my. Gorgeous.
Who was the nun in white at Cris and Al's wedding? They focused on her twice.
Must run to work but will catch up on comments thru-out the day.
Thanks again all!

What struck me in the barn of death scene was the fact that first, no one even looked at Sev to see if he could be helped, and secondly, no one tried to treat Cande's wound by applying pressure to stop the bleeding, etc. I also wondered what happened to PJ since he and Cris had ridden to the barn at the same time. Perhaps PJ's unexplained absence was a plot device wherein Cande was made to die without the presence of the love of her life, and without the succor of a priest being present at her passing. I loved her deathbed change of heart where she begged Cris and Aldonza to be happy together.
Although they didn't develop it much, I liked that Val the sociopath seemed to be condemned to live a life filled with scary apparitions and regrets.
I guess Sev's passing was ok. It seemed like everyone now is aware of most of his misdeeds, which I really wanted, and his continued presence among the living would have cast a shadow on the relationship between Cris and Aldonza. So, yeah, good riddance.
Tomas just makes me laugh every time I see him, and that continued right up to the end. I would be willing to bet he will be one of the most effective priests in the diocese and, at the same time, a constant pain in the bishop's side.
JudyB, your extended thoughts were great, as always, and Viv, where do you come up with such detail? ("What they were harvesting was chayote squash")
I have enjoyed this tn so much, both because of the expert recapping and because of the insightful comments. It has really been a pleasure.
David
What was truly sad to me was watching Prudencia and Valeria. Their punishment was so much worse than Severiano and Cande's. They got to die, and didn't have to live with the hell they created. But Pru and Val have to every day. To me, that's waaaaay worse.
So I was right about 2 things. Cande did kill Sev, I thought she would be the one because she knew where Sev would take Aldonza. And the other thing, I knew Aldonza would just "get over" her rape without any counseling.
"I'll see you in hell: you don't gloat till your enemy is dead", "Listen, dude, these two never managed to solve ANY crimes and you actually expect them to help you? Silly boy" and "I guess when the love of your life dies you might as well settle for your wife" were incredible.
Your "Daylight finally comes and the barn of death is illuminated by the sunlight, a new beginning is here" captured the essence of this perfectly. I also loved your "The star of this show was...and still is...the waterfall. I was hypnotized by the sight of those incredible cascades of water. Ditto for the beautiful horses. Nothing was more beautiful or spoke more of love than the incredible glory of Nature in this one" Judy.
Thanks to you, Diva, Lila, Sara and Kris for your marvelous recaps and all the work and effort you put into making this come to life for us daily.
Sara, I also loved seeing Eman and Cris riding off on their magnificent steeds. Beauty in motion.
Klitbo killed it. She didn't play Pru, she was Pru. Her desperation was played magnificently. Outstanding.
I also did not understand why the Padre did not arrive with Cris as they were together shortly before Cris darted to the rescue. I thought the writers might have had Cande die in the Padre’s arms but I am glad that Cris was with her and that she unburdened her soul and asked for forgiveness.
Bless the Cardinal. It was wonderful (and refreshing) to find these priests portrayed as exemplary.
Pru and Tomas (give this man a lead role) and every scene involving the baby were lovely (Val not included obviously).
I thought the ending was wonderful and like Sandy "just floated along with the joy" and let the happiness of the weddings and couplings (realistic or not) wash over me.
Thank you all - see you on the next.
Diana
When Cande asked to see the place where Raimundo died and then her eyes lit up when Dominga remarked that the murderer always returns to the scene of the crime, I knew SHE knew where Sev was and would go and take him out with the gun she demanded Cris leave behind. So the bastard only suffered his ear being shot off, Cande nailed him but I rest assured he went straight to hell. Cande praying for Aldonza and begging her forgiveness with her dying breaths. I couldn't sob but my eyes welled up for sure. So the deck was cleared for the new generation though I thought Aldonza grinning as the sun rose was a bit corny.
Whoever said Tomas would end up in the seminary should take a bow! He ends up one of the most beloved characters in the show! Dom and Mel have been an anchor and rock solid from the beginning! A couple of class acts and skilled veteran actors! Love 'em!
Val and Pru got their deserved and predicted ends though we can see folk in SL don't believe in talk therapy. . shoot 'em up!
I am particularly happy that Solitario apparently hasn't been solitary during this whole thing -- somebody had to get some lovin'!
Donnie and Cris's wedding was ok. No welling up there or sighing at their NOT love scenes. I don't even know if I want to look for it on YT. I've done enough fussing about their un-love story. I'm going with what Sandy in TN said about this being a "dramatization of trauma and resilience."
Eman cut a fine figure in his -- is their a name for those beautiful suits with the embroidery? -- traditional suit and wide sombrero. Coulda seen more of that! Glad Renato and Pato got their girls, couple of dunderheads!
Very happy for Irma and Uriel! Yes! And the Po Po really took a hit in this novela. The only thing they did was help keep Sev safe from justice -- with his one arm he wrestled the long arm of the law and won. A sniveling petty crook had to give them to low down on Sev the Dev.
Thank you Eli and thank you Hella, Sara and Cap'n Diva! I think we done good!
However, Sever and Cande's existence, even if Sever were in jail, would also cast a shadow over Al and Cris. I'm glad Cande asked for their forgiveness before she dies, but I'm glad she's gone from their lives.
As with most of this fast, one hour wrap ups ( why do they do this--actually, viwerville would rather see a couple last episodes of positive once in a while at the end instead of one final blur of activity.) I feel like we got really cheated on some of these wrap ups, but some were fine.
Sorry, Sev got off easy. He had no heart, suprised the bullet killed him. Did not think they would go there with Cande, but she sure got the juicy scene. And yeah, where was PJ. Now that would have been a great ending...have him also come in. I kept waiting for him. The sun coming up was all kinds of cheesy.
My favorite overall had to be Tomas. Now there was a total arc from start to end for a character. Seeing him so joyously happy at his decision was just awesome. And his kindness towards Pru was perfect.
As for Pru--what was that? I guess we are supposed to assume that for all her antics, she gets only a life of aloneness and maybe having to work for a living and then she'll repent and be ok? Not sure at all on that.
But then, we got the same pass on Mari. She and Pato don't even make a good couple. Patchwork pink bow.
Everything Dom and Mel was wonderful last night. Cris having her walk him down the aisle teared me up.
The rest of the quickie couples I'll just refrain. We either got more than some deserved or they spent zilch on it because well, we only had 1/2 hour really.
Rest was as expected. Seeing E-man happy was really my main concern and riding off on Solitario, what a stud, was perfect.
So thanks to all--this was a super group and our recappers rocked!!
Daisynjay
Sever's sufferings at the end were short but satisfying. Good to see Cande acknowledge her mistakes.
Eman in a charro suit--oh yeah! Padre Tomas on his moto--love this guy! Pru's poetic justice as the town drunk stumbling along the sidewalks, passed out in the park. It was a warm and fuzzy ending.
"Candela is on her knees, crying and praying for Aldonza's safe return" Nope, didn't see THAT coming, though I suppose I should have, the way she's been acting lately.
"Cris now hates him and they will be getting married in church (so suck on that!)" Ha! And he seemed really bothered, too, which was the only thing that made the scene work for me, because if he didn't really care, then it was just Aldonza flipping out. I'm ok with her shooting him, too, and glad it was the gun from Don Ant that only had the one bullet!
"She says that God guided her steps (ummm okay)" That's nice, Cande...a call to the cops might have been a good idea too.
"Question:Padre J was with Cris so why did Cris arrive alone?" Hello! I guess he was just there to ride the horse? I figured he'd walk in any second and give Cande Last Rites, or a blessing, or call 911, or something! She probably didn't HAVE to die, if they'd gotten an ambulance out there.
"Listen, dude, these two never managed to solve ANY crimes and you actually expect them to help you?" Hahahaha! And their expressions when they were clarifying that he knew Sev did all this bad stuff and he STILL wanted to work for him...oh, no, they weren't going to let him go!
Lulu for Mayor of Santa Lucia! Girl has a good head on her shoulders, excellent people skills, and the ability to organize a community. She might have to pick just one of her two (three?) boyfriends, but then again, maybe Santa Lucia is ready for a young, single mayor who doesn't settle.
"Holy redemption Batman!" Cracked me up...the seminary will never be the same again!
"Pru approaches the Lago's and offers to baby sit babyLardo" That was sad...and then Mr. 5ft and I looked at each other and said "Don't do it!" 'Cause boozy grandma. I'm glad Juana got the hell out of there! And I guess, glad that Pru will get some help? And sober up? And maybe confess that she was behind the attack on Silvia as part of her recovery?
"Solitario is gonna be a daddy! He got two mares pregnant!" You go, stud!
"Pato also proposes to Mari by putting the ring in her cake, that boy just do not learn" On sooooooo many levels! But, I'm happy that for once...for frickin' ONCE in this ENTIRE show...somebody ate dessert. It was really about time.
I did not like the honeymoon scenes. Too much cutting, for what? It's like they were doing a catalog shoot or a commercial for the place they were staying. And the voiceover was needlessly cheesy.
"I liked Lola's dress better than Aldi's!" Me too! They did too much with the top of Aldonza's dress, and the big blingy brooch in the middle made no sense.
"Then there's some sort of party cause everyone is all happy happy joy joy." Yes, so confused! They rushed through the weddings, and there was no fun reception party, so I thought "Oh! We started with baptisms, maybe this is somebody's baptism party." And then...nada.
Thank you again, Eli, and I'm glad you're going to be on board for the next one!
Vivi, I agree, with all the co-ownership of the two properties, they might as well combine them into one, give them a whole new name and a fresh start. Thanks for telling us what that crop was!
Sandy, while I'm not necessarily happy with some of the pairings, you're right--they told us all along they were coming.
cathyx, I'm going to tell myself that Padre J suggested some counseling for both Aldonza and Cris in the months before the wedding and a therapist just happened to have moved into Humberto's old office space. And that way Blanca still has a job.
I'm throwing my hands up at some of the anvils. The only one that seemed to have any poetic justice was Cande being the one to take Sev out. Their marriage allowed him to get into a position of power, she felt guilty for never realizing what he was capable of and putting a stop to it early, she felt the need to do it to protect Cris (and maybe Aldonza?). So, OK. That works.
I thank everyone for the kind words about the team :)
I loved all the comments and agree with most.
I liked the happy endings. This last episode reminded me of the finale of my favorite telenovela Alborada in which there was a huge outdoor party and the leading lady and her sis were carrying around their babies and several other ladies were pregnant. Ray dashing from group to group was sweet. yes, it was all wrapped up too neatly to be real...but I get enough real ..I like fantastic happiness. I think that I accidentally taped this episode and may watch again.
AL grin as the sun was rising over that bloody barn scene was just so odd.
Hey, do the writers lurk here at Caray? Remember that I mentioned weeks ago that the neighboring farmer works rent some of our fields planted squash and told me that it was a money crop and that be sent truckloads to grocery stores ? So ..in the end..they decided to plant SQUASH instead of melons!!
I always notice the clothes and hair. We are assured that Mari has grown up because she finally let down that ponytail. Also, Flavia is on the path to being a loving wife as evidenced by her new hairstyle at the wedding. Perhaps her time on the run with hot badboy Adriano made her appreciate better than bread Joaquin.
Pru ..with no makeup and no longer looking well groomed . The look on her face as she gazed at the baby was heartbreaking. She was probably seeing Val as a baby...innocent ..not yet Vile. Pru perhaps was thinking..shoulda, woulda, coulda. Too late to change the path her life took and the wrongs she did. I thought that the baby actually looked like Lardo and had Val's coloring.
I was not happy about seeing zombie , walking dead Hum. I would have preferred not having that visual.
Judyb...As I was watching all the happy endings appear on my TV screen, I wondered what song dear Mads might have given us. I decided on Huey Lewis's "Power of Love."
"Holy redemption Batman!" My favorite line in Eli’s recap!!!
Sandy in TN said this telenovela was more a "dramatization of trauma and resilience" and also a terrible case of “bait and switch.” I completely agree!!!
I was surprised that one bullet killed Sev. Maybe it was silver? I kept yelling at my TV “Put a stake through his heart!” That scene with his body ignored spoke ten thousand words.
I did not like that grin, either.
doris, "Put a stake through his heart!” I'm laughing so hard...yes! Better safe than sorry!
Thank you all for the kind words, I had such long and (bad) day at work yesterday that by the time I got to work on the recap I just wanted to hurry up and finish- as it stands it took me over three hours to finish :/
I wanted to thank everyone on the patio for their participation, what would the recaps be without the many patio peeps? Tofie, Vivi, J&O,David, Susanlyn, Doris, SandyinTN, and sassy Miss Judy, without you guys this would have been a whole lot less fun, thank you for your time and kind comments!
Vivi...Yes, I remember Oberon. He was living the high life screwing everyone , and then he got a little overconfident about that match with the huge guy. Yikes
Going in with most of the patio on Aldi vs. Lola's dress/whole wedding. Eman does love his horse, so I guess that part made sense for him (though it was the more romantic looking of the two, imo, so I'm surprised it wasn't reserved for the main couple. Plus, Michelle's not good with horses, right? I think Vivi told us that?) Also, on Sev's one shot end (though it was very fitting that he and Cande killed each other). I too was surprised that he just got killed so quickly while Pru and Val ended up as they did. I didn't think they would go the hallucinating route for Val, but someone said Pru's anvil should involve her turning into the town drunk on the streets and lo and behold! I was shocked that Tomas actually went to the seminary (did Lulu say "too bad" when he came back to visit PJ?), but someone called that as well, so props that whoever that was too. Yeah, Pato doesn't learn, and Mari once against gets to show herself as the smarter of the two women. Sigh. Ok.
I also loved the big picnic that followed Ray. And I really, really loved Aldonza and Cris's pregnancy scene. I thought Cris's reaction was beautiful.
Ok, really this time, no time for more comments, I gtg!
(smh I'll probably be back in an hour)
Vivi-Uni cut the scene with Aldonza and Joaquin, which I thought was a shame, it was so sad to see another glimpse of Adelina with baby Aldi in her arms.
I think Val deserves what she got, her father would still be alive if not for her actions, and you know what gets me? It's not even that she was madly in love with Cris, she just wanted him for his money-nothing more.
Pru- I know I should dislike her but in this case I can't. The woman was broken and in my head Tomas gets her into a clinic and she cleans up her act, then she gets to spend time with baby Lardo and makes up for her past mistakes.
Tomas! The actor that plays him needs to be in more stuff, I can't take my eyes off of him when he's on the screen, and yes Lulu said "what a waste" when she saw him in his robes, did I mention that I love Lulu?
I love Solitario , and I was happy that the big stud (lierally) was going to be a daddy x 2, but I really love Chris's black stallion.
I am standing in the line of folks who thought that Lola got the better wedding gown. ...and the picture of her gown draped over Solitario was stunning.
Susanlynn...yes, Power of Love is a good choice, except I used to teach weight training to that song, sooooo.....I think I'd choose the old standard When I Fall in Love (It will be forever) Or I'll Never Fall in Love. More romantic, given my memories. But every generation has its own music and you and Mads are from a different decade from me.
And yes, Sandy, there WAS a lot of caressing going on in that Pru/Thomas scene. And given their past relationship, could have been downright confusing for Pru, but whatever. I still hope to find the Tomas/Motorcycle music on iTunes.
All in all, great recaps, great team, you sucked me back in, I couldn't stay away. And I'm happy to be snuggled up on the patio again.
This was a good ending. you're right, they cut stuff like the honeymoon scene's nite of love. I saw the finaly over the weekend. I guess they have to cut stuff to fit The time alotted.?. Whatever.
I loved the scenes with tomas rockin on the
Motor bike. He's gonna be a hand full for padre. A fun and serious MAN OF GOD!!!
Pru dug that whole for herself, but she'll get
Help gettin out. If tomas can change so can
She. Val......well....that is a whole different story, in Another universe. Cause another one startsTonight. I've injoyed yall. Theres some new peeps I see commenting, well new to me.
I got on Youtube and found some weird stuff,
Theres a chapitula # 138. Why I don't know cause its the same as #137. O well, all the good guys got theirs, as did the bad guys got theirs.
Anyhoo its been fun. Did hums nurse become a nun? That looked like her sitting behind that guy that don't speak, that works for cris with the horses.vwhen the camara was spanning the wedding guests at the church. Maybe not.
Lookin forward to commenting with yall again. Im tryin to end this, but I keep thinkin of stuff. I love moma dom and papa mel, cris should make it legal and adopt them as granma and granpa. So sweet.
OT..For those who have read the Outlander series, I just read on YouTube that they are casting the role of Brianna.
Thanks again Eli.:-)
The finale was pretty much what I expected. I would have liked for Severiano to have lived long enough to hear Chris and Candela's final goodbyes and realize nobody even glanced his way. Ah well...
OT, Vivi, my daughter-in-law bought a beach towel at Ikea on Sunday that has big green pears all over it. I immediately thought of you and the "Pear Robe Project." After babysitting the little terrors, Mike and I just didn't have it in us to stop at Ikea on our way back down the road to see if there were any pear towels left.
Thanks again, y'all. I'll try to comment a bit on the next one.
JudyB, I'm glad you got hooked again :D
Hi Emilia! Thank you, and I hope we see more of you on the next one...should be nice and light and happy!
Diva, let's hope the next one is light and happy. Enough with the violence, at least at 7:00.
And thank you to the rest of the recap team. You all did a great job with this one - not that it's a surprise or anything, recappers rule!
Aldonza's creepy smile at the sun rising on the new day looked almost like a sinister smirk. It would have worked if she had slowly looked around at everything, her eyes finally coming to rest on the still slumbering Cris, and then gently smiled. But oh, well ... just nitpicking.
The proposal scene with Mari and Pato ... meh! I think it was included as some sort of comic relief, with Pato worriedly looking for the ring and smushing the dessert, but it was just ... whatever!
When Cris and PJ were riding around looking for Aldi they heard a shot (the ear-blowing-away-one). They looked at each other, then all around. "Was that a shot?" "It sounded like one" "Did it come from over there?" When Cris arrived by himself, I immediately assumed that they had split up to go search where the gunshot came from and didn't think much more about it ... hmmm.
I liked that final celebration. Everybody was together "just because" and I just took it as a celebration of life, harvest and love with everyone around and happy.
Laila
I actually also enjoyed the finale, even liked the touristic prop in the honeymoon with the bycicle rides, the kayaking, the boat cruise, snorkeling, etc. That was a nice honeymoon.
I only wished they had mentioned that Aldonza got some therapy during the months before the wedding. Azteca's version, La Duda, had the Aldonza character going through therapy to help with the trauma. They could have borrowed some scenes from there.
Overall, I think I liked Aldonza/Michelle a little more than the patio and Cristóbal/Pablo a little less. I didn't mind the lack of romance because I never saw this as one, and that was my main annoyance with Cristóbal too, since he seemed to have no other function than to push for it. I think the first episodes were great but the story began faltering with the sudden wedding between our main couple after Cridtóbal's ultimatum, which I hated. Then the last few weeks were fun.
Are you getting the special interviews done for Hoy after the finale? Because I was gonna mention something from there but then I remembered that you probably get them later.
Jarocha
Jarocha, I don't know if it has aired. I didn't even realize there would be one! I guess it would have been yesterday?
I keep thinking it's such a bummer they don't tend to do sequels. Things were finally moving in a positive direction and we had to wave goodbye and send the show on its way. So many of the characters would be fun to check in with five or ten years down the road.
I don't know if anyone's still reading but I was offline from Saturday afternoon until about an hour ago and it was hell. I saw the finale on Saturday morning before my modem gave out and now I have a brand new one!
Cande shooting Sev brings the whole thing full circle: Roberta killed Raimundo to save Sev's sorry ass and Aldonza's rape was the reward for that. Candela killing Sev at the original crime scene -- with the second bullet -- was justice served. However, it looks like Aldonza and Cristobal never found out that Sev raped Candela, too. I'm not sure how I feel about that part, but they might be better off not knowing that. I can't imagine what Aldonza and Cristobal will ultimately tell their children.
Love that Solitario has two foals on the way! Wish we could have seen them.
I agree about Lola and Emanuel's wedding attire. I love the charro suit and Lola's dress was gorgeous.
Vile got what she deserved.
Pru didn't. She should be in prison for what she did to Aldonza and to Silvia. What I wasn't clear about is whether she ended up homeless on the street at the end. Or does she have money of her own stashed somewhere?
Not to brag, but I think I was the first to predict that Tomas would enter the seminary. I later wondered whether he would become a cop. Either will do. Can you imagine him going around his future parish on his cycle?
Wish they'd shown the whole waterfall before; it's gorgeous.
And it's high time they showed people seeing shrinks. That's it.
I can't believe it took this long to get this resolved. And I hope the cats leave this modem alone. When you don't have a working TV the computer and the internet is everything!
