Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #30 Mon 8/24/15: Discussion Page

Urban Anthropologist has computer problems and asked for a discussion page and highlites if anybody can throw a few up.  If she can manage a recap we'll post it later on.

Thanks to ViviDC:

 Part 1:

- Maleny's got a new hairstyle and a new attitude. She first goes to Ari and pressures him to give back every cent of the money her mama and Arango paid him to break things off with her. She doesn't have Max anymore and has nothing to lose now, so she threatens to accuse him of sexual harassment at the club if he doesn't comply.

- Ari folds, and has to ask Doris for the money back. He lies and says he's loaning the money to Orlando to pay for Leo's medical bills and his planned wedding with Isela. Doris breaks the news to MD, who now wants to go into business together. MD doesn't care. They can make it work and still be partners, even though Doris doesn't have money to invest right now.

- Maleny continues on her new tough attitude. She gives Arango a check to cover Ari's bribe money, and lets him know she is NOT as stupid as they think. Even in her drunken, hysterical state the night before and the night Arango picked her up from the club, she picked up on the non-boss-employee vibe between her him and her mother, and she knows their hiding secrets.

- Maleny then has a truck of new quesadilla stand supplies sent over to Honoria, much to Hon's, Fermin's, and Julian's shock.

- Esperanza is trying to forbid Clara from continuing her relationship with Leo. Clara is having NONE of that, and can't believe she and Leo are getting all this crap, when MD is about to get back together with that lying cheat, Dan. MD defends Clara and Leo's relationship to Espy. She then goes to the hospital and lobbies for Alma to leave the kids alone. Max overhears, and thinks MD has misinterpreted Leo's restrictions on visitors by the doctors as Alma being against the teen lovers. MD looks at Alma and tells Max to get clarification from his mama. Max once again tries to warn MD off Dan and says he'll be there for her. But she tells him to keep his distance, per his mama's orders.

- Max chews Alma out about her not trusting him, and betraying his trust by telling Maleny about his feelings for MD. He says he's lost his trust in her. Alma becomes distraught. Max and Leo also get suspicious when they see she called Clara's house from Leo's phone.

- To try to fix things, Alma allows Leo visitors from the hood-- Orlando, Julian, and a very happy Clara. The novios smooch happily. Alma leaves the room quietly.
===================================

Part 2:

- Claudio calls Isela in the office and tells her he's staying with his WIFE and SON in the hospital and won't be coming in to work. Having earlier been taunted by Josefa that she couldn't be that great in bed, if Claudio wasn't trying to get her back IN bed, Isela is obviously upset he's being so distant. She stabs some papers on Claudio's desk as she says farewell, and looks up to see Maleny watching her with a very knowing look. They threaten each other to not meddle in each other's business. Isela won't reveal what she knows about Maleny and Ari, if Maleny doesn't mess with her.

- Alma has overheard Leo tells Orlando, Julian and Clara that he remembers perfectly that he raised the car onto bricks. They don't understand, since the bricks were to the side of the car. They think Leo must be mistaken, but he's certain. Alma gasps to herself, now certain that someone tried to KILL Leo. She's right, but this only makes her more determined to keep Max and Leo away from the folks in that hood. She doesn't understand why Claudio offers to lend Julian office spaces next to his own (as compensation for saving Leo), but he's certain he will be able to get Julian's help in convincing Leo to distance himself from the hood, and eventually Clara.

- Ivana's showdown with Susana ends in stalemate. Susana does back down when Ivana threatens to limit her access to money and luxuries to mere crumbs.

- Meanwhile, Dan and Ursula try to figure out Ivana's game in keeping the miscarriage from him. They decide Ivana still wants to marry him, but wants to get revenge on him in some way. Dan goes to see her the next day, confronts her about the miscarriage, and rushes her to the hospital when he sees she's in a bad state. At the hospital, he and Ursula plot their next move while the doctors do a D & C. Ursula prays she doesn't die, before they can get their hands on her money. The doc comes out and tells them that the infection was so bad, that they also have to do a hysterectomy. Dan plays to grieving father and fiance, and asks the doctor to let him break the news to Ivana. This is all kinds of wrong, and the doc holds on to his professional ethics for a minute, before he agrees. Ursula and Dan decide not to tell Ivana that she can no longer have children. Dan says it's even better now. No pesky kids to get in the way of HIM ending up with ALL the money. Bwahahaha!
=================

Part 3:

- Alma, Claudio and Max see Dan and Ursula. Max calls out Dan's hypocrisy-- playing the faithful fiancé, when he saw Dan macking on MD just the day before, and just learned from Clara that he's trying to get back with MD. Dan claims he was just seeing MD to try to help her with the lawsuit Ivana is bringing against her. Alma and Ursula confirm the lawsuit to Max.

-Clara happily reports her visit with Leo to Espy and MD. Espy wonders how Alma treated her. Clara says she was cold, but polite, and it’s all due to MD going to talk to Alma. The sisters hug. Espy doesn’t want Clara to experience the troubles MD is having with Dan’s family, with Leo’s family. Clara doesn’t think you can even compare the two situations. Espy relents and gives in to Clara’s happiness.

- Dan goes in to see Ivana after she wakes up. He lays it on thick with the tears about their lost child, and how he wants to try for more. He lays his head on Ivana’s chest, and she looks like she may be falling for his act.

- Max tracks down MD as she’s walking through the park. He wants to know why she didn’t tell him about the lawsuit. He wants to help her. She tries to shoo him away, and says that Dan and Victor (the shady lawyer) are helping her. Max is flabbergasted. How can she trust Daniel? He tells her to stop playing the innocent and admit that she wants to be fooled by Daniel! MD snaps back and asks so what if she does!? Max declares his feelings for her again, takes her face into his face, and makes the slow approach to her lips. She doesn’t resist, and when their lips finally meet, she becomes a full participant. Another dress bag is dropped and totally forgotten as she melts into Max’s kiss.

Oh no! So sorry for your computer problems, Urban. Just finished watching. Let's see...from memory.

Lots of typos, sorry. Was writing fast. E.g.- Max takes MD's face in his HANDS.

One more thing...

- In Leo's hospital room, Claudio is eyeing Orlando hard. When Alma tells him about someone trying to kill Leo, he tells her he suspects ORLANDO! Alma doesn't see why Orlando would do such a thing, but Claudio looks like he's just trying to find a way to get rid of a rival (for Isela). He says he will investigate the matter.

Wow vivi! Thanks for posting this up, have yet to see the episode but look forward to reading your recap when I do.

Hope your computer problems get solved soon UA!

jlk

Vivi, thanks so much for your take on this episode. There was so much that got past me.

What any woman could see in Dan baffles me.

Ann-NYC

Thank you Vivi. Your memory remarkable. So on one hand MD admits wanting to be fooled but macks with Max. Wow. Damn I missed it.

Urban- I hope your computer woes will end. I was looking forward to being able to read one of your recaps. You make me wish I could write.

Vivi - thank you for pinch hitting. The thing I find frustrating is thinking I've misunderstood something only to discover from a recap that I understood perfectly. Dan's line about not having to deal with pesky kids and being able to have all the money is an example.

I tried so hard to make it to the end, but I finally had to admit defeat ten minutes before the end. Thank you so much for filling me in on what happened.

I like Maleny's new hairstyle and I loved Isela sticking up for herself. I'm starting to dig Isela. Except for the fact that she's lying to Orlando. That's not cool. I probably missed it, but have they explained how her sister died and why Josefa blames Claudio? I didn't remember that they did but up to this point I've been marathoning which messes with my already questionable comprehension.

OFF TOPIC
I found this clip on Youtube and thought others might find it helpful. The narrator, who talks extremely fast with a Boris Karloff accent, reports on the upcoming telenovelas for late 2015, 2016, and 2017. It seems to be a complete list.

I did not know where to post it, since the feed on the sidebar doesn't seem to be kept up to date.

Maybe one of you great recappers with really good Spanish would be willing to translate and posthe during your already jammed-packed schedule.

Thanks for the comments jlk, Ann, Tofie, and Sara. Just trying to help out and it was fresh in my mind at that moment. Hope Urban's computer issues are resolved soon.

Tofie- I think MD was taken by surprise that she responded to Max's kiss. I'm just glad she didn't slap him. We'll see how it ends tonight.

There was scene I forgot: Gerry storms into Ivana's room, past Susana, looking for her. Susana snipes at him for betraying her, telling Ivana her plans for separating her from Dan. Gerry doesn't care, only cares about Ivana, and demands to know where she is. Susana tells him Dan took her to a hospital. When Gerry calls Dan, he doesn't pick up and tells Ursula he doesn't want anyone to interfere in the plan for Ivana.

Sara- No. It has not been fully explained how Isela's sister died and what exactly Claudio had to do with it, unless it was in one of the episodes I missed.

Not much to say except I loved the change of background music when Max was kissing MD so enthusiastically.
Let's get off the Daniel subject. I'm getting tired of it.

Urban – So sorry for your computer woes. Hope it's fixed soon.

Vivi – Thanks for the highs and lows. Terrific storytelling.

Loved Max getting on Alma's case about her betraying his trust by telling Maleny about his feelings for MD.

Loved Isela going toe to toe with Maleny. Miss I Am Superior to You didn't expect that.

MD better not say tonight that that kiss meant nothing. Girl, you dropped your bag.

Niecie: "Girl, you dropped your bag." LOL! That made me giggle. Yeah, no way she can claim she wasn't into that kiss.

Thanks Vivi. The ccs were off for most of the show, so I had a hard time keeping up. Yes, Claudio wants to trap Orlando for trying to kill Leo. Now I'm not so sure that he didn't do something underhanded to Josefa's daughter.

Big avances news: MD is pregnant, but we suspected it anyway. I just hope that Dan and Ivana get married before it comes out.

Cathyx

No spoilers. How do we know MD is pregnant. Has this been shown???

Cathyx- Yeah, Claudio thinking of pinning Leo's murder attempt on Orlando, just because he's jealous, made me really question his professional integrity.

Anon- The pregnancy talk was in the previews, but we know previews can often be deceiving (and often TRY to be), so I wouldn't be so sure.

Previews aren't spoilers. I watch this show on TV, and they show previews at the end. They mentioned that MD is pregnant. (I never watch ahead).

When I recap, if they show previews, I put them in my recap. To me, it's part of the show. I know if you watch on Hulu or youtube, they don't show the previews.

Cathyx- I don't mind previews. It's only on the Telemuno feed that they have a "no previews" rule. But I also know that Uni previews can be deceptive, and in this preview Espy was asking MD if she's pregnant, and got no answer, so we can't assume. I do think she will end up pregnant, because you just know that will fuel now-sterile Ivana's ire even more and the writers can't resist.

I just hope that it doesn't result in MD and Dan getting married.

It would be kind of funny if she married/almost married Dan, because it would be her third attempt at going to the altar with him-- first time was fake; second time she got jilted; perhaps the third time would be the charm. In any case, she has to get this weasel out of her system, because she's just too willing to forgive and forget with him.

When I think about it, Dan can't afford to marry her, even if she is pregnant. He needs money. And that presents new problems. MD tells him she's pregnant, she assumes he will then marry her, but he may not. Does Max step up and propose? Does Julian? We haven't seen too many shows with a single mother. Where is this show going?

Just a guess, definitely not a spoiler. IF MD is pregnant, she marries Julian out of the goodness of her heart because she knows Julian has loved her forever and he doesn't have long to live.

Just watched the episode & the end was worth it! As much as it looks like MD is enjoying that kiss, I'm expecting a slap at the beginning of the tonight's episode. At least she admitted that she might be allowing herself to be fooled & blinded by Daniel, despite recent evidence of him being scum.

& I feel for Espy. Having to be a single parent and protect her girls during these troubled times must be tough.

jlk

Anon 2:43

I can see that happening. But that would mean Julian would have to die before the end of the tn :( I'm still holding on to a tn medical miracle.

jlk

Anon and jlk, not only that, but I want to see Julian and AA woman together, sorry can't remember her name.

I loved the kiss too, and I loved more that MD didn't pull away and actually went for it. Now they can both have future thought bubbles of that kiss.

Cathyx- Her name is Jenny. And ITA, I would rather see Julian in a REAL relationship with Jenny, especially if he doesn't have too much time left on earth, than waste himself on a fake/pity relationship with MD.

That reminds me of another tiny scene from last night-- Julian actually used the fold-out cane Fermin gave him. Yay! Watching him struggle to walk unaided is so painful.

Hear hear, Vivi. I'm sure it's been discussed, but I cringe every time MD shows Julian any affection. I know they've always been dear friends, but knowing what she knows why does she do that? I guess it's hard to put distance there when they've been so close.

I have to say I like Fermin. I was touched that he bought that cane and again when Julian used it. It was a good scene Vivi.

Sara, women like us, You, Me, and MD, just have this pheromone that attracts men to us and they can't help themselves. It drives them to distraction. It's a curse sometimes.

Sara- I like Fermin too. It's interesting because we usually don't see a character hit their redemption arch until the end of a tn. We've caught the Fermin character after a lifetime of being a deadbeat and an alcoholic, and now he's finally cleaning up his act and showing love to his son (who doesn't know who he is). I am sure he will fall off the wagon (briefly) at some point, but that's normal and expected. He's on the right path.

It's true, cathyx. Lmao!

I am liking the development of his redemption. I don't like the instant redemptions of últimas semanas.

I loved Fermin in Teresa.

Haven't watched yet, but it sounds like Maleny might be on the redemption path as well, although much, much further behind than Fermin. Why else would she send replacement supplies to the barrio? Plus, new haircut! That always means something, right? She's a spoiled brat, but I feel sorry for her in a way that I don't feel for Dan.

I just hope MD's terrible Dan decisions don't screw up a good partnership with Doris. I like Doris. She deserves her own shop. And a better boyfriend than Ari.

Kelly

I just finished watching the last 10 minutes. That was quite a kiss!

Kelly-I am so with you! I am totally rooting for Doris! I wouldn't mind a TN about her, either.

Jarocha-If you see this...We were once talking about theme songs and I mentioned not liking the one for this one. (I'm liking it more.) You had said they used it for a pivotal scene and you liked it from then on. I hope you will pop in and let us(me) know when we get to that. I hope I'll recognize it...but I might not. I almost wondered if the kiss scene in this episode was the scene you were talking about.

Sara
If I'm not mistaken, the theme song changes to somewhat of a lover's song during Max's kiss with MD

Kelly- I wouldn't call Maleny's new attitude redemption. More like she's decided SHE should be the b*tch at the wheel of her own life, instead of Ursula. I think she sent that stuff just to get back on Max's good side.

Sara
Sorry for the bother, but it is during the KISS and while it is only a clip of the total song, it's really beautiful.

And I really like her new hair style. It's softer and more natural looking. Her angular, thin face is complemented by the softer look.

Kelly- Doris is making some terrible Ari decisions too that could screw up her budding business. Ari's involvement with Maleny already lost her a job. He's lied to her and deceived her almost as much as Dan has to MD, and she keeps taking him back. Now, personally I would find it harder to say no to (shirtless) Ari than I would Dan, but he's given her plenty of reasons to dump him for good.

I had the same thought about the song, Victoria!

Yes Vivi, I really like the softer look. I am fascinated by the brown of Maleny's eyes. I can't explain why exactly. They are very clear. If that makes sense.

I like that they aren't caking tons of makeup on the female characters (ok, they could be a little lighter with Doris, but she's young and flamboyant.)

Shirtless Orlando is pretty nice, too.

Oh. Did I say that out loud?

But Orlando wouldn't have to use such tricks. He's a sweetheart and could get whatever he wants just by asking. But I wouldn't argue if he took his shirt off. You saw how disappointed Isela was when he put his shirt back on and refused to make love until they're married. :)

Doris is definitely the most flamboyant in her clothes and makeup. But we've seen her without it too, and she's still gorgeous.

True.

Question about that scene (my apologies if I missed comments about it) - I sort of felt like she got hot and bothered by Claudio and that's why she was ready to get down with Orlando. Did I misread it.

Also- I know it's been mentioned, but I can't remember what illness Julian has.

She being Isela.

Yeah, Isela definitely has a thing for Claudio, no matter how many times she tells Josefa that he disgusts her. She likes him, and wants him to fall at her feet begging her to be his mistress. Interesting the way he is playing this.

What did Ari do with that check that he got from Ursela? Why did he have to go to Doris for the money?

doesn't Julian has cerebral palsy? Was that put out there or was that from the comments?

I seem to recall Hum saying that whatever he had it was inherited from the mother. Or is that something I misunderstood?

Him. Not Hum. I thanks autocorrect.

Hum? Do you mean Fermin? No Humberto on this show.

Today they were saying that it was his bad leg, like he has something wrong with just his leg, but that wouldn't shorten his life expectancy.

Sara
To cover her sex act with Claudio in the hospital, Isela told her mother she had been assaulted then abused on her way home. That's why she wanted to take the morning after pill.

At first Josefa thought Isela's seduction of Claudio was a success, until she found out about the assault.

Isela made the whole assault story up to cover her non-virginal state with Orlando. That's why she tried jumping his bones right away. And he was having none of it at that time. He wants to wait till they're married even if she is no longer a virgin. Go figure.

I don't remember the name of the disease. It affects his bones and is degenerative. Hon does not know what he has because he was misdiagnosed as a child. He didn't get the real diagnosis until he was an adult and so he has never told Hon or told her about his short life expectancy and the reality that he will need a wheelchair at some point.

Ari gave Doris a chunk of the money to invest in her proposed business with MD, (including new sewing machines). That's what he asked her to give back.

Victoria- Actually, this is the way it went. Ideal had sex with Claudio; she told Orly she was raped on the train and spent the night at his place; she went home the next morning and told Jo she seduced Claudio and spent the whole night with him, but didn't want to get pregnant and was taking the morning after pill; Orly showed up while they were fighting over the pill; Isela told Orly that Jo didn't want her to prevent her potential rape baby. Jo then decided to mess with Claudio and screw with Orly at the same time by telling Claudio her virgin baby daughter had been raped, and she was sure Orly did it. She knew neither was true.

Isela not Ideal-- autocorrect.

That's the morning after pill to be clear.

Orlando thinks Isela was raped, but he still believes her to be a virgin because it was against her will. She isn't trying to sleep with him to cover up her non-virgin status. She's trying to sleep with him because she's horny, but neither Claudio nor Orly will sleep with her.

Thank you for the very detailed highlights Vivi!

That was a great kiss at the end. It's funny but I kept wondering if they had practiced beforehand because they seemed very in tune with each other. Sara, yeah, this is the scene where I started liking the song better because I hadn't heard it complete and this verse is not in the credits so it was a nice surprise to hear that part:

Hoy le creo al amor,
a quien ama y no miente,
a quien me habla de frente
y me da el corazón.

Jarocha

I confess one reason I've kept up with this is to try and figure out which scene you were referencing. :-) Now I'm hooked!

Well, I'm just now getting to this patio. Vivi - FANTASTIC! Loved your recap (your memory is crazy!). It's weird that they keep saying Julian's condition affects his bones, because his doctor said it was muscular dystrophy.

I agree - Maleny looks way better with her new hairstyle, Ivana looked very slim in her purple dress on Friday! Also, I love her hair down and I hate her side ponytail.

I think Isela's freaked that Claudio gets her motor running and wanted to "prove" to herself that she doesn't really want him by jumping all over Orlando.

That bag drop was the it! I'm gonna start using that for really passionate moments and everyone I know will be like "what's #bagdrop?"

Thanks, hellashelle! #bagdrop. Love it!
