Monday and Wednesday Recappers Needed! Synopsis-Muchacha italiana viene a casarse
From the desk of Diva, the team leader:
The Muchacha Italiana team is looking for two new team members!
We are a supportive team of smartasses, dedicated to blending translation, commentary, critique, and curse words into rollicking recaps for the entertainment and education of our peeps on the patio.
Do you enjoy watching telenovelas? Do you often find yourself talking out loud to the screen? Do you stalk Caray, Caray! waiting for the next recap to post so you can find out whether you're the only one who noticed that thing...you know, the thing that happened, but it probably shouldn't have happened, because didn't they rule that out in episode 5? Then this might be the job for you!
Qualified applicants are self-starting team players with good communication skills. Both first-time and experienced recappers are encouraged to apply! We offer a competitive salary* and comprehensive benefits package.**
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can I be a recapper if my Spanish isn't that good?
A: You do not have to be fluent to be a recapper. In fact, recapping is a great way to build your listening and comprehension skills, and your vocabulary!
Q: What if I've never written anything like this before?
A: If you've read recaps, you probably have a good idea of how to write one, and we'll provide you with some guidelines to get you started. Plus, you'll have at least three experienced team members to ask for help and advice!
Q: But what if I'm not funny?
A: You don't have to be, though I bet you're probably not as "not funny" as you think you are. Each recapper has their own unique style of writing, and sometimes that can even change depending on the kind of episode it is. The most important thing you can bring to the table is being YOU!
Q: Doesn't it take a really long time to write a recap?
A: Again, that depends on the episode and the recapper. Early episodes can be difficult to do quickly, because we haven't really gotten to know the show yet. Really conversation-heavy or information-heavy episodes can take longer than those loaded with action and montages. You are free to spend as much or as little time as you can and want to on a recap.
Q: Do I have to do a recap every week? On the same day?
A: It does help with scheduling to have each team member assigned to the same day every week. If you think you can't handle a recap every week, you can always opt for an every-other-week schedule.
Q: Do I really have to curse?
A: No, but we don't mind if you do ;)

Synopsis and Cast
Fiorella Bianchi (Livia Brito) is a 23 year old Italian girl. She works to care for and support her 17-year-old sister, Gianna (Ela Velden), who has a heart condition and her father, Mario (Ricardo Blume), who suffers from pneumonia.
When Mario dies his friend Vittorio Dragone (Enrique Rocha), an important restaurateur living in Mexico, proposes marriage to Fiorella. He promises to take care of Gianna's medical expenses. Being much (much much much much) older than Fiorella, he sends a picture of himself from when he was younger. Fiorella, pressed by necessity and dreaming of marrying a good man, accepts.
The two sisters travel to Mexico, but a series of events keeps them from meeting Vittorio. They eventually come to live in the idyllic rancho of the prominent Ángeles family. It is here where she meets Pedro Ángeles (José Ron), the man of her dreams. He also falls in love with her. She will soon learn that his family is ambitious, mean and embroiled in a fight for an inheritance built on mysteries and crime.
Additional Cast
Mike Biaggio
Jessica Coch
Francisco Gattorno
Eleazar Gomez
Nailea Norvind
Interesting Notes
The theme song of this version (¿Adónde va nuestro amor?) is the same as the 1971 version. Angelica Maria sang it in 1971. Playa Limbo is in charge of the latest version.
Ricardo Blume was the galán in the original version. Here he plays the protagonista's father.
Warning: I don't know how to turn off the autoplay, so the next video may have spoilers.

Cathyx, yes, this is our replacement for Sombra.
It's long. Not gonna lie. It got good ratings in the afternoon slot, which may not be saying anything.
I have seen other promo type snippets on the TLnovelas channel and it didn't look half bad. I actually liked what I say of Jose Ron.
There are going to be doldrums. I don't think that can ever be avoided. And hey, Univision is bound to edit something!
Pedro Damian is the producer. I guess he does mostly teen shows?
(I've only seen Lola érase una vez on DVD.)
LG was worse than CI (IMHO.) Muchacha italiana got slightly lower ratings. So by my logic, it is better than both LG and CI.
I hope someone out there who is a regular commenter and novela watcher, or someone who watches but doesn't comment would step forward and joing our merry team! Diva and Sara are THE BEST! Hermanas del alma de verdad!
This sounds good. I'm excited about the cast, particularly Mike Biaggio, Francisco Gattorno (sigh) and Nailea Norvind. I like Livia and Enrique Rocha is great. I will reserve judgment on Jose.
I won't be able to recap but look forward to the recaps which I know will be outstanding. Many thanks.
Diana
Yes, Sara and Diva are amazing. As are you. You are in excellent company.
Diana
And a character named Vittorio Dragone. Does it get better than that?
I had Angélica María's song in my ipod for years, I'm sure it still is but my ipod doesn't work anymore. It took a while to get used to Playa Limbo's version which I got to hear daily on the radio for months. I'm sure it will get nominated but I'm not sure a remake of the song of the original telenovela you are remaking should get an award.
Jarocha
Jarocha
La Tempestad's theme song was like that. I NEVER got tired of it and is a lot of the reason why I found William Levy, whom I didn't think was particularly hot, SMOKIN' in La Tempestad and found the chemistry with his leading lady believable. I loved the novela and am still angry with how the shredded it near the end.
Lila, I'm blushing! Thank you so much for the endorsement! I'm beyond thrilled that you still love me after LG!
Thank you, Diana :)
Jarocha
So far I'm liking what I'm hearing "cute", "bonita" and fairy tale. Yes, I think that would be nice.
Lila I'm sure I speak for cat when I say that we are eternally grateful to you and Eli for helping us recap La Gata. Talk about taking one for the team!
I hear ya, doris! I do enjoy a serious tale, but I need a nice light one right now.
Cyn- I hope you'll join us!
Jarocha, I guess since I don't know much Mexican(?) music, La Tempestad was the first time I heard it and I was enchanted. I went on You Tube to listen to older versions and they just didn't do it for me. So sometimes it's a matter of exposure. Now, I often harp at young people when artists mix bits and pieces of classic songs, they call it "sampling" in their "music" and the younguns just think it's soooo whatever the latest word for "cool" is and sometimes scoff at the original so I almost feel like that. I don't scoff at original versions of Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti, but for me, Alejandro Fernández and Christina Aguilera's versit is IT!
The patio has become part of my early mornings, don't want to loose touch.
MUCHAS GRACIAS
The only theme song I remember (and love) is Alborada's which was sung by Placido Domingo. It always gives me goosebumps!
I agree, Susanlynn and doris, I hope it's not bad. Maybe they'll have some excuse for why she doesn't speak Spanish with an Italian accent.
yay you!
(see you're getting your gratitude pay in advance)
doris- yeah it was fun, it was fun enough that 1. I got used to Aaron Diaz's scowl and 2. I'm gonna try fitting this one in even though I have no more time for telenovelas
Cannot wait!
Bring on the fairy tale, sounds perfect.
I loved the music from Alborada too susanlynn. And La Tempestad as well Lila. Pasion was another beautiful theme as was Pasion.
Diana
Kat, Lila and I were just talking last night about redecorating The Naughty Melon with red checked table cloths and wine bottle candle holders. ;-)
I love Gattorno ,he is a fantastic actor. I am watching Mi Pecado in which he plays a well meant spouse.
Livia embracing Italian is nice since she is Italian in RL. I suppose this will give me Spanish and Italian lessons both at the same time !
Not so sure if I like Noella Norvind. Its just someting that makes me ick about her.
Lila and Kat, I would love to see some good old fashioned romance. With so many "couples" in La Sombra, there was a surprising lack of romantic scenes. I want deep yearning and love that survives and endures in spite of everything!!
Count, I also love Gattorno. He was great in Mi Pecado but even better in Amores Verdaderos. Sigh. Hope you stay for this...
Diana
I'll bring the cannoli....because it's fun to say "cannoli"!
I have a CD player that looks like a jukebox and we can loop "Nel blu dipinto di blu" (Volare) by Domenico Modugno, and That's Amore by Dean Martin for a while and then kick it up with some contemporary crooners like the group Il Divo and Il Volo (3 uber cutie pies!) Oh yeah, and the Johnny Mathis version of the theme from the Godfather, Speak Softly Love. (Google or YouTube these, they're Grrrreat!)
I like the Pandora station idea, too :D At one point, one of the local college stations showed a half-hour Italian...I don't know if I'd call it a telenovela...but a show that seemed to be centered around various people's love lives. I don't recall the name, but they had some songs I liked--including an Italian version of "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" that an ex-wife sang at her ex-husband's wedding reception.
I'm pretty sure I haven't seen Gattorno in anything, but I Googled him and he sure does look familiar.
Count, I've always seen Lisette as such serious characters, I can't imagine her drunk, but that does sound funny!
YAY ELI! So glad to have you on board :D
