Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #21 Tue 8/11/15: Hotfootin' It Back To Easy Street
It’s Friday and Maria Dolores is in her wedding dress telling Daddy up on high, as she has flashbacks to her happy childhood, that this is the day he and she always thought to share together.
At the hospital downtown, news that Ivana is in the hospital has traveled fast in the cultured and well-heeled circles, that Ivana is doing poorly. Ursula, with Me-me-me-first Maleny in tow, has come to pay homage in hopes of winning her over again. Ivana’s unwitting doctor lets the preggers news slip, believing it’s still all in the family and happy news for Daniel, the soon-to-be-doting daddy.
Mal (Vanna please buy this gal a clue!!) cannot understand the reason for Mama’s new-found exuberance. “—It means the marriage is back on the table. That baby is Daniel’s ticket back into Ivana’s life (aka, her back pocket)!” Mal is horrified. Why? What’s the matter, asks the beaming, boda-scheming abuela-to-be? “--It’s that Daniel’s getting married right now in a church wedding to Maria Dolores!" But it's a sham wedding. "--The church wedding isn’t going to be a sham wedding!” Eeks and shrieks! "--We’ve got to warn him that he cannot do this!"
MarDi and the barrio guests head off to the church in all their finery. Leo hops out of a cab to join Clara. Neither of them trusts Daniel as far as they can throw him, but it is MarDi’s day and her choice…..
Back at the hospital, Grrrandma-to-be Ursula is sweet-talking Ivana into accepting Daniel back into her life now that there’s this “gift from gawd” to consider. “--Daniel didn’t know about the baby, but Mal’s giving him the news as we speak. He’ll be here soon!”
Danny Boy is in his tux with Fat Greasy Lawyer walking towards the church when Jacinto, who’s been shadowing Dan, jumps out of the shadows and snipes at Dan for going back on their deal where he jilts MD and gives Jacinto the last laugh. Dan tells him to get lost. Whatever happens, Jacinto’s never getting his position in Ivana’s company back again. No, but what a belly laugh when Jacinto finally tells MD that her marriage has all been a sham! He struts off. Dan just ignores this threat from Crazy Jay.
Just then Mal drives up honking like mad and gets Ari’s and Dan’s attention screaming that he cannot get married now to MD because Ivana’s expecting his child. She begs Daniel to get to the hospital and tell whatever tale he needs to MD, but to realize that he’s now got the means to save their standard of living!! Dan is torn and drives off with Low Life Lawyer in the lawyer’s car. Mal convinces Ari to do her a big, important favor. “—DO IT! Do what I’ve told you!”
Back at the church, MD and the family all wonder where Dan is since he’s late getting to the church. Orlando’s going to find out.
Across town at the judge’s law offices, Claudio (suffering from male menopause) wonders if he’s chased off Isela for good by being so forward as to kiss her the other day (--or possibly headed for a harassment lawsuit). He makes a dinner date with his wife and tries to go on with his life.
Outside the church, the waiting guests are wondering what’s happened to Daniel. Josepha gets a large charge out of stating the obvious about MD possibly getting jilted at the altar. The rest of the Barrio Bunch look at her as if she’d just let off a loud explosion of methane and then frown. Ari suddenly arrives in a huff. He tells Orly that he’s got some important news for MarDi about Dan. He and the padrino/madrina’s all race back to the car to see what’s up. “—Daniel’s not coming!” What?????? She races out of the car, certain that something terrible, some accident or something, has happened. Of course he would be there otherwise!
Doris slaps the spit out of Ari for not admitting to their friend that this wedding thing is really a sham. They race to catch up with MarDi and her posse.
Meanwhile, Josepha’s motor mouth is revving at top speed, telling the guests that there won’t be a wedding because the novio is splitsville and left the novia standing at the proverbial altar!!
Back at the curb with the ushers and ladies in waiting, Doris begs Ari to tell MD the truth—the whole truth—about Daniel, but Ari still cannot bring himself to do it. He clams up and chokes on the truth a good long minute as the rest of them wait for some news.
Dan, no longer in his tux, and Lousy Lawyer guy are walking out of a parking ramp discussing how Dan wants to be with MD but cannot. And anyway, he cannot stand her dire poverty—she and the barrio and her tiny home all stink disgustingly of penny pinching austerity and lack. He turns his nose up and makes a face at the mere thought of it all. Just then, out of nowhere, a stalking Maximilian appears and grabs Dan by the throat, choking him for all he’s worth. “—You’re going to marry Maria Dolores if it’s the last thing you ever do!!” Dan breaks away and says he’ll marry her, but cannot be forced. Anyway, he did marry her and “she was his.” No, says Max, but in the Church?? He races off and says he’s got to first see Ivana. (Crappy audio here.)
Mal catches up to Max as Dan races away to the hospital, and she explains that Ivana is sick and may lose Daniel’s child.
Leo finally arrives to tell MD that Max called him and said Dan is at the hospital. No more information than that. MD immediately believes Dan’s been hurt or is deathly ill. She, Orly and Julian race with her to the hospital.
Back at the hospital, Grrrsula runs into Dan in the waiting area before he has a chance to see Ivana. He assures her that no, he’s not gotten married to MD and yes, he realizes his good and changing fortuna here. Yup. His intent is to win back Ivana. Good boy, says Mama Bear with a voracious grin on her face.
Dan goes in to see Ivana, who wants the truth before considering marriage again. He admits to “having an affair” with Maria Dolores.
Leo calls to tell Max that he could not keep MD from racing off to the hospital. Mal walks up, he tells her this and she races off to find Mama or something and warn them.
Honoria overhears Doris and Ari as he tries making Doris realize that he cannot tell MD about the sham wedding because Mal is behind it, and she's his Big Money from the club and the person who put in a good word to get Doris her new job. “--Daniel is Maleny’s brother! They could boycott me from ever getting work anywhere else again.” “—Pshaww! Like you're part of the presidential family! Good Lord!” She storms off in a hissy fit over his disloyalty and cowardly attitude.
Mal catches up to her mother again and learns that Danny’s reconciling with Ivana. He comes out of her room and Mal tells him MD’s on the way there. He races downstairs to the reception area. Gerry is arguing with Max to stay out of it with Ivana at this point.
MarDi races in now and breathlessly demands to know where Dan is. Gerry, in the background, is drop-jaw impactado to see her dressed in her wedding gown and frantically asking for Daniel. (Of course, Viewerville’s not certain if that is because of the outrageous circumstances or the superlative, designer-quality gown she’s wearing…..)
Max explains to MD that Dan’s fine and that he’s in with Ivana because she’s expecting his child. MarDi nearly faints.
Gerry sees Susana arrive and drags her off just in time.
Daniel shows up then, followed by Grrrsula. MarDi screams and cries asking him why, how, etc. He can only repeat over and over how sorry he is. MD walks over and slaps him and then just loses it. Orly drags her off him. Grrrrsula spits sparks of deprecatingly snide remarks in their direction as she glares triumphantly at MarDi.
Dan starts for MD but Julian races to block him, threatening to kill Dan if he ever comes near MD again. Max sneers disgustedly at Daniel and his mother. Mal races after Max. (More bad audio.) He's outside for air and leaving; he has turned totally against her atrocious family and in particular, her brother, whose face he says he cannot stand to even look at any longer. He walks off and leaves her to them.
In the barrio, the wedding reception is cancelled and Leo pays off the caterers since Dan who was supposed to do so isn’t showing up.
Inside the hospital, (more crappy audio) Gerry tells Susana to keep what she knows about all of this crap with Dan to herself or she’ll lose the life of luxury she’s become accustomed to, because Ivana will lose the baby if she’s upset any further and turn on her. She and Iva argue and grouse over the fact that Iva has changed her mind about Daniel and IS going to marry him! Susana pushes the envelope as far as she can with Iva, though without telling her that it wasn’t some affair and that he was about to actually marry her ex-employee.
However, when Susana runs into Dan and Grrrsula out in the hallway, she tells the two of them that once Ivana’s out of danger she won’t hesitate to tell her the truth about this crap sandwich they've made her swallow that it was only “an affair” with Maria Dolores, and how he really was almost to the point of marrying her!! Dan just insults her age and bitterness at being an old maid or some such. Susana walks off. Mal walks up and complains at Dan’s childish pranks turning Max against her. Max waits for MD to get back from the hospital. She’s in shock and he carries her into her room and lovingly caresses her face as she remembers all the times she believed Daniel, gave into Daniel, and eventually “married” Daniel.
Across the way at Julian and Honoria’s apartment, Jose eavesdrops for whatever fresh gossip she can get. She hears him and his mother discuss the fact that the real reason Dan didn’t show up wasn’t that Ivana’s preggers. It was that, as she overheard Ari and Doris arguing over, the whole first wedding por lo civil was a sham! La Nosey de Josey races off to tell the whole neighborhood.
At the same time inside Esperanza’s, Max finally tells Clara, Leo and Espy that Dan’s fine and that he was at the hospital because Iva is preggers with his kid.
Espy et al go out to the balcony to hear what the ruckus is all about. By now the whole of the neighborhood is out on their balconies and listening to Jose. (Really crappy audio here.) Espy accuses Jose of being cruel and unjustly malicious. “--No, my dear girl, I know what I’m talking about because I just heard Julian and his mother discussing it!!” Everybody looks up at the two of them listening on their balcony to the argument below. My goodness! What an episode. Looking forward to the recap tomorrow. I really wish someone would tell Gerry and Ivana the truth.
Dan has stolen MD's pride, dignity, reputation, virginity, and money. Their relationship could be a country song.

I didn't have any audio issues in my broadcast, so I did hear Josefa tell the whole barrio that the civil wedding had been a sham before demanding Julian and Hon confirm. I hate Josefa, but actually glad that bit of truth has been made public. Now, let's hope Max and Leo spread it around to everyone on the other side of the tracks. But first MD has to learn the truth and it's not going to be pretty.

Great actors and characters here, like Maleny throwing her purse on the floor in anger and frustration and Josefa outside the door as she overheard Honoria and Jullian. Couldn't even see her face but the silhouette.

It cannot be over between MD and Daniel, love like she has for him is the stuff these soaps are made of and worthy of fighting for. Why let one little thing prohibit her a lifetime of bliss?
If Maria Delores has her own bun in the oven perhaps with a little convincing Dan will be able to have the two women agree to an "arrangement" and everybody happy.
So, Leo and Max will pay for the party that wasn't cause Dan stole the money.

I really hope MD is not having Dan's baby, responsibility isn't really his forte, also with the Ivana's pregnancy. The gossip Josefa finally has some use now, at least she told the truth albeit the fact she did it maliciously. Maybe MD will stop being so trusting and sharpen up.

I'm afraid MD will go in the complete opposite direction, as per the title of this tn. She'll beleieve ALL men are dogs, ignoring HER own responsibility in choosing a dog, and ignoring all the examples of good men in her life (her dad, Julian, Orlando, Leo, Max).
Gracias Jardinera. I am catching up on episode 20 ( I get extremely lazy sometimes and I hate that fact) so this helps a lot.
I was glad that MD slapped the heck out of Dan but I am sure that it wont take long before they are reconciled because of TN logic .
I hate Josefas loud mouth, someone should shut her up for good. It would be nice if she fell from that gorgeous balcony one day!

MD may not take any personal responsibility for her decision to be with Danny, though as Danny went to close the deal, there were warning signs which she ignored. Heaven help the next man (Max) that shows sincere interest. She'll punish them instead of the man she loves that did her wrong, she was already bellicose toward Max. That or she becomes a martyr for that once in a life time love.
The AA girl, Jenny I think, seems to want to catch Julian's eye. Hope she does.

Tofie, yeah the story seems to be reaching the novela"s namesake in which our girls lose interest with men because of hideous situations. Or they abuse men for their own pleasures, to satisfy others or for revenge.
I too hope that the AA girl picks interest in Julian because he truly deserves love but I already see Vermin meddling but i think Hon will be very happy.

Can't wait to read the recap.....But Wowzeee, folks. Recapping duties aside, One Hour a Night of YNCELH is Not Enough for me. This has more twists and turns in one episode to keep me spinning and on the edge of my seat than any other tn in a long time. Be back later.

Jardinera654, what an episode this was!!! They really got a good workout in this episode. Only thing was missin was that comedy capers music. My heart goes out to MD, but girl all those bells and whistles that was going off, and she ignored them. Dannyboy is a DOG!!!!! YOU right Vivi, this could be a country song, that goes platinum.

I can't believe Maleny was so eager to help out Daniel. Sure, she wants her family to get Ivana's money, but Daniel made MD unavailable for Max. It seemed like with this episode, she realized that her helping Dan has hurt her own relationship, but not just because Max is disgusted by Dan's actions. (But Max needs to seriously rethink marrying into this family).

Kelly- The only reason Maleny was helping Dan was because he blackmailed her- threatening to tell Max about her affair with Ari if she didn't help him. It was a damned if you do, damned if you don't, kind of situation. But it will be easier for her to worm her way back to Max by playing that she can't control her brother's actions/family loyalty, blah, blah, than it would be for her to justify having a lover.
Vivi- Thanks. Forgot he knew about Ari. But given what a liar Max knows he is, she could've pretended this was was just another of his lies. Then again, Ari is a complete idiot and would've blown it. Ok, never mind.
Side note- Doris needs to dump Ari once and for all, as a friend and lover. She could do better.
Other side note- Was I the only one who didn't recognize Orlando at first? He cleans up really well.

Oh, Kelly--I did, indeed recognize HIM. I love the Auto Mechanic Orly "luke" as well as the Friday Go To a Wedding Orly "luke." I think he is galan worthy. Although these days, who wants to be a galan (I'm looking at YOU, Cristobal Mendoza).

Just finishing up the episode so I'm getting to the comments way late in the day. I agree that the pace and acting is wonderful, but the strongest part of this episode for me is how much I hated Josefa. Seriously, what IS her problem with MD? Why does she hate her so much? This is the mystery that is plaguing me for this TN, even more than what Bustamante did that makes her blame him for her daughter's death and probably just as much as who Isela's real family is. I just can't fathom Josefa's obsession with Esperanza's family and MD in particular.

I agree that super cute AA girl is into Julian. I glad cuz he's a good guy (the wedding outfit she liked on him made he look like he was wearing Harry Potter's uniform).
But Josefa is so cruel. I really do not get her maliciousness. MD already knows what happened, why does Josefa have to HUMILIATE her by telling the entire neighborhood about the most horrifying thing she's ever (unwittingly) done? It might be the meanest mean girl thing I've ever seen on a TN.

I admit I fast forward through the Josefa scenes, they're all the same so I don't need to watch her. Why was Julian's hair clean when he was in jail and dirty when he's home? Forced showers? He looks better with clean hair.
I thought Orlando was extra cute too all dressed up with nice hair. I hope he ends up with Doris.

I force myself through the Josefa scenes and for once am the rubber necker passing the wreck, the whole dynamic of that apartment block fascinating to me. All the actors lead and extras are so awesome.
Up till now, Espie had a loving, hard working husband, two healthy (living) daughters who site on their mom and are generally loved by all. I bet Josefa has been choking on her jealousy for years. Now things are finally going down the drain for Epsie and her kids, and Josefa is not only happy to watch, but also to facilitate it.
I'm glad you translated that one Vivi, I usually know what you mean before you do, but this time I didn't.

I can believe that Josefa is jealous (it's the only explanation that makes sense), I'm just shocked that she would fixate on this one family and one person in particular (though her fixation on MD and Espie goes hand it hand. Clara seems more secondary.) Are there really no other such families in the area?

I totally enjoyed the scene where Max comes out of nowhere and puts Dan in a headlock, Dan has nothing on muscle man Max.
I am very very happy that the sham marriage wasn't dragged out and we had Max & Leo as witnesses to the whole thing.
ITA agree about Dan developing feeling for MD, or at least as far as his tiny heart allows. I think part of it is the appeal of MD's purity of spirit and wholesomeness compared to the pit he and his family come from.

UA: I can definitely see Josefa having a husband back in the day and him leaving her for X reason (take your pick). Could of added to the jealousy she feels towards Espy for having a loving husband who did stay by her side.
