Yo No Creo En Los Hombres, Capitulo 23, Thu 08-13-2015: Dance of the Rat Fink

Quick refrito: MD almost swoons into Julian’s arms after he tells her her marriage license isn’t real.

Lo Nuevo: Ari catches up Maleny as she drives her sporty convertible out of the hotel. He’s freaking out a little because her mom caught them together. She’s annoyed because he’s more worried about losing his job than about their relationship ending, but tells him not to freak--her mom has no idea who he is or even that he works; she thinks he lives off of Mal. Alma calls her and tells her to hurry over.

Daniel and Susana trade sleaze. They both call Ivana stupid, but Dan crows that he’s got what she wants. “Oh you wouldn’t know what I mean because no man has ever touched you,” he taunts. Susie tries to slap him, but he blocks her and kisses (or almost kisses) her instead. Now she does manage to slap him because oy, the last thing she needs/wants is him trying his slimy moves on her too! He warns he that if she doesn’t get on Team Dan, she won’t even be allowed into the wedding, much less this house!

Josefa shadows Julian in the vecindad walkway, ranting about how he made her look bad in front of everyone when she was just telling the truth and he knows it. He wearily counters that she’s always trying to bring MD down. No, she claims, she just doesn’t want him to keep fawning after MD, all lovesick. Doesn’t he understand that MD will never pay him any mind? The last thing she wants is kids like him- Her spew is cut short, because Honoria has snatched her by the hair! She shoves Josefa around and yells that she’s tired of her and the way she insults Honoria’s family! If she doesn’t leave them all alone, Honoria will tell Isela the truth! What truth? Isela wants to know, coming down the stairs. Josefa bluffs and tells Honoria to tell Isela the truth, but then says that since she’s Isela’s mom, she’ll tell her. She walks over to Isela, but whispers in her ear that Honoria suspects Isela’s got something going on with Bustamante.

As Espie strokes her hair, MD apologizes for not paying her (or Clara…or Leo…or Max…) any mind when they were telling her Dan was a no good rat fink. Espie soothes her not to torture or blame herself. How was she to know he was that big of a rat fink? They can all be glad there’s nothing that actually ties MD to Dan any longer. The music swells ominously and the camera focuses in on MD, who knows she’s slept with Dan. Uh oh…

Julian asks Honoria what is up with her and Josefa. Honoria finally tells him that Isela’s not Josefa’s biological daughter. It turn out that Josefa dated Isela’s dad. He took off, but he left Isela with Jo. Honoria doesn’t know anything about Isela’s mom. Julian assumes this is why Jo’s always treated Isela so badly, but Honoria shrugs off the violent child abuse saying that Jo’s always treated everyone like crap because she’s a bitter old harpy. MD especially because all of her suitors have been stand up guys that really cared about her and Jo’s never had great luck with men. “Ok…so what is it she knows about you?” Julian asks. Honoria hesitates and before she can answer Fermin starts hollering. He can’t take being around the rubbing alcohol anymore! He more or less flings it at them and Julian whisks it out of his bedroom. Before Honoria can get on him, Fermin says that yes, he could drink that and worse to feed his addiction, but he also cried out to distract Julian. He doesn’t want him to know the that Fermin’s his dad either.

Clara cries to Leo about Dan the Rat Fink. And about how Ari heard Dan planning all of it! Leo tells her they have to tell MD because she still loves Daniel and needs to know how terrible he is.

Maleny’s crying big old crocodile tears to Alma. Claudio should be supporting her in her attempt to trap- I mean, marry her Max! Her mom’s completely consumed with protecting Daniel. If her dad were alive…(at this point, the tears look like maybe they’re getting real)…if her dad were alive, things would be so different…

Orlando tells Ari that Maleny’s mom found out everything. Leo, just walking in, angrily asks if he means she found out that Ari knew all about evil Dan’s evil plans?

Claudio is still thinking about kissing Isela when Alma comes in. She gives him a little backrub as she tells him how upset Maleny is and how (for some weird reason) she thinks Claudio’s the only one who can understand her. Claudio, clearly still thinking about his own infidelity, brushes Alma off and says he needs to go out. He needs air or exercise or something to clear his head.

Orlando and Isela worry about MD. Orlanda fills her in on Ari’s getting caught with Mal while Leo’s calling Max

Ursula and Dan consider that Susana will tell all if Dan kicks her out, post-wedding. Who cares? Dan says, since he and Ivana will already be legally bound. In storms Maleny, furious that because of Dan’s fake wedding, Claudio doesn’t want her to marry Max. “Compared to what you’re doing to his son, it’s nothing!” Dan shoots back. Ursula yells at them both, but now it’s a furious Max’s turn to storm in. What Dan did is a crime and if MD decides to pursue it, he’ll help! Maleny reaches for him, but he’s pissed at her too because she knew. She denies it, but Leo told him that Ari confessed it. Ursula and Mal share nervous looks (probably wondering what else Ari let slip), but Max is already storming out. Ursula pushes Mal to follow, and Dan agrees because if Max knew about the affair, he would’ve called her out on it. Maleny stiffly gets her cell; she wants to know exactly what Ari said. Dan stops her for a lesson in Rat Finking: Max only has to know what she tells him. Mal grabs her purse and races after Max. Ursula worries that a legal case will cause a scandal they won’t be able to hide from Ivana. Dan thinks if he talks to MD- “You are NOT to talk to that woman again!” Ursula furiously stage whispers. It’s up to Maleny to convince Max not to help MD.

Fermin tries to give Julian romantic advice. Didn’t Rodulfo advise him on this? No, Julian never told him. And he respects MD’s feelings: she doesn’t love him. Fermin thinks that now that Dan’s out of the picture, Julian can win her over. If Julian takes his advice and doesn’t net MD, Fermin will stay clean for the rest of his life.

Jo’s again pressing Isela to break things off with Orlando. Now that Leo’s working with Orly, they’re becoming friends. Plus, it means Max is around and that’s two more problems to get through on their revenge plan. Isela tells her to keep her mouth shut with Honoria then. She told Hon that Isela could convince Claudio to help get Julian out of jail, right? Well now Honoria probably wonders why Isela would have any sway with him. Josefa looks a bit abashed.

On that note, Isela goes to Honoria’s. She starts flattering Honoria by complimenting her generosity with helping Fermin, but Honoria sees through it and tells her to cut to the chase. Ok, Isela says she knows Hon might think she’s using her womanly wiles with Claudio, but it’s not true. Could she please not mention anything to Leo because it will only make trouble for her at work and with Orlando. Hon looks perplexed.

Mal comes creeping into Max’s apartment. He tells her he knows she and Dan argued at the club about Dan’s plan. Mal says Dan went nuts when she tried to stop him from carrying out his plot, and Ari defended her. “Are you saying he hit you?!” Max asks. She doesn’t deny it. Instead she says Dan’s under pressure because he bankrupted the family. He wants to marry Ivana to save them from financial ruin.

Part 2

Honoria doesn’t want Fermin to advise Julian. He doesn’t need Fermin’s help and MD wouldn’t fall for him if he were the last man on Earth because she loves him like a brother. Fermin reminds her that she also claimed she wouldn’t fall for him if he were the last man on Earth and now look – they’re arguing about their son. When did she lose hope (in their marriage)? “When I got tired of begging you to stop drinking and you didn’t,” she answers.

Julian is trying to get MD to go for a walk in the park, and maybe grab a bite to eat. She doesn’t feel like doing anything, but Espie and Clara encourage her. In fact, Clara will go with them and if Leo shows up, they can all hang out.

Max has apparently told Leo about the Santibañez, including Dan hitting Mal. Leo thinks that nothing that creep has done has any justification, but Mal has Max. He hopes MD finds someone who truly loves her since Max is taken…Right? Max’s anger loses power and he grudgingly tells his little bro that he loves him.  Leo loves him too. And because they’re brothers, he can tell he’s falling for MD. Alma stands in the background, aghast.

Mal tells Ursula and Dan that she convinced Max that Dan forced her to help him by hitting her. Ursula and Dan are furious but Mal is as smug as smug can be. Now, instead of Max breaking up with her, she’s moving in with him! And she softened the whole “Dan’s a physically abusive pathological liar” thing by telling Max that Dan’s just so stressed by the empty family coffers, he’s snapping under the pressure. She hangs up on Dan to take a call from Ari. She fills him in. She’s extra happy because now her mom won’t bother them and they can continue their affair anytime, anyplace! And she’s going straight to the altar with Max!

Ursula can’t believe this! Now everyone will know they’re broke! And think(/know) that Dan beats on his sister! Dan doesn’t care about everyone, just Ivana – she can’t find out about this. Ursula advises him to push up the wedding as soon as possible (well last time he got married within days, so this shouldn’t be too big a problem). She’s going to work on keeping Alma quiet. Dan rants that they never should’ve thought Mal could fix this; she just made everything worse, as usual (wow. No hay peor ciego que no quiere ver. Or is this more “mira el burro hablando de orejas” moment?). Ursula further disparages Mal: why would Max marry the cow now that he’s had the milk for free? (Did she forget that Max proposed multiple times?) Mal needs to stay focused on keeping Max busy and stop running around with that inferior (Ari). She asks Dan about him, but Dan dismisses him – he’s just a gum seller. A tennis instructor with muscles, but nothing more. He’ll take care of him. No, Ursula says she’ll do it. Dan needs to focus on Ivana. Dan thinks he needs to manage Ivana’s business/finances to gain control of her money. Ursula laughs. What does Dan know about managing anything. She and Arango will do it. Dan laughs harder. They’re the ones that lost their fortune in the first place! Please! They couldn’t even manage a grocery store! (in light of Ursula’s past, this dig might cut deeper than Dan knows since he and Mal probably have no idea of her past.)

Max tells Alma that Ivana knows Dan is marrying her for her money. Alma is surprised that so smart a woman would settle for that, but she’s more shocked that Dan hit(s) Mal. But all that aside, she’s upset that Mal’s upset because Claudio doesn’t want to be related to Dan’s family anymore. She’s worried and Dan’s violent and they have to do something about this mess! Max did: Mal’s staying with him. Leo comes down to tell them he’s going to Clara’s and Max offers to give him a ride. Alma is exasperated: what? Is he going to take a stroll with MD while Mal waits for him at home? No, he has to talk to Ari. Alma’s annoyed that he doesn’t just believe Maleny.

Orly doesn’t think Max bought Mal’s story completely either. He reminds Ari that, like he told him before, Mal’s just bringing him more trouble. Now he’s on the outs with MD and Doris. Ari asks if Orly’s spoken to Doris since she pissed with him (Ari). Well, since everyone now thinks she also knew about Dan’s plan, she’s rightfully angry. Ari defends himself by saying he couldn’t very well tell her about his affair because…because…He searches for an explanation that doesn’t include the fact that he’s dating Doris and settles on her being as close minded as Orly about his aspirational goals. As he leaves, Iselda comes in.

Honoria brings Fermin to church because Julian insists that he work on his spirituality to complement his medical rehab. She sits with Espie as Fermin gets a prayer card. The two ladies overhear two other women gossiping about MD’s failed church wedding as Josefa coils herself in the pew behind them. When Hon encourages Espie to ignore the gossip, Josefa slithers forward to strike. Is Hon happy now that Fermin’s acting like a good husband? Hon tells her to shut it, so she turns her venom to Espie: “Well, now it’s official: Dan stood Lola up!” Honoria’s had enough! “At least her daughter isn’t sniffing after a married man, like yours! You better hope God doesn’t hit you where it hurts the most as punishment!” That shuts Jo up.

Orly and Iselda discuss Ari’s being scared of Max knowing about he and Maleny. She thinks the whole thing about Dan hitting Mal is a lie too. Dan’s a liar, but he’s not violent. He dated MD for a long time and it’s easy to see if a guy’s a beater (but apparently not a cheater and liar and all around rat fink). And the cheating runs in the family: look at Mal with Ari. Orly asks her not to mention that to Max or Claudio because Ari told him it was over. Ari would be the only one hurt if it got out, just like MD was the one who got hurt--Dan’s still marrying Ivana. The lower class gets the blowback when shots are fired, so they have to support each other.  Iselda is pissed that he’s “on Ari’s side” (so ironic. She’ll eat those words when this Claudio thing hits the fan), but whatever. She just dropped by because her mom was out of the house. Ooh. Well, in that case…they start a serious make out session that ends on the bed, but Leo awkwardly interrupts. He invites them to the park, but Iselda declines and takes off. Orly declines as well.

Susana, clearly trying to make nice, offers to do Ivana’s makeup. No need, says Gerry the Gallent. “That’s my job.” Ivana tells Gerry Dan’s on his way. His attitude clearly says “No comment.” Alma calls Ivana to check up on her since she was in the hospital. Ivana calls her out for wearing MD’s dress to her event. How could she? She knows how much damage MD’s caused! Alma says Ivana clearly doesn’t have the full story and they should talk. She hangs up just as Dan walks in with a huge bouquet of roses.

MD doesn’t want to talk to Max, but he wants her to know she can sue Dan and they should clear up everything Dan said about Max because they were clearly a bunch of lies. Julian encourages her to talk to Max (poor, unwitting matchmaker that he is). MD agrees; they’ll talk later.

Mal calls Ari to give him orders on what to tell Max. He completes her story exactly: Dan was hitting her to stop her from spilling about the fake wedding. He didn’t say anything because Dan threatened his job. Max is suspicious; he’s never seen any bruises on Mal. In any case, Ari will have to repeat this to the police so Dan can never hit Maleny again.

In front of Susana and Gerry, Dan tells Ivana he wants to move up the wedding. He wants to be a part of the baby’s life immediately—have it know his voice, go to the doctor, even change diapers. Sounds nice, but Ivana points out that he can do all of that without them being married. Dan thinks it’s important for a baby to grow up with both parents (implied: married parents). Gerry jumps in: it takes time to plan the kind of wedding Ivana wants. Susana jumps in with talk of baby bumps, weight, and the dress. Daniel, in full charmer mode, leaps up. What is wrong with them?! This is his baby they’re talking about, his family. He turns to Ivana and declares that the material doesn’t matter, only their family and their love. Ivana falls hook line and sinker. They’ll be married ASAP!

Ursula meets with Claudio and Alma. She blames Dan’s crazy on Hector’s suicide. At first I think this is weak, but Ursula spins it beautifully: They’ve all struggled since Hector’s death. She invested money – at Arango’s insistence, but she didn’t really know how all of that worked. And Dan didn’t spend the money, he just also invested in something that tanked. Just like his dad. Now, he’s really feeling the pressure…just like his dad. Before he killed himself. And this MD woman pressured him. She tried to make a scandal at Ivana’s event; Max should know, he was talking to her outside. And then she showed up at the hospital—in a wedding dress!—while Ivana was a snap away from miscarrying! Daniel made mistakes, but she’s no saint either.

The adorable Jenny has come by to check on Julian’s leg. She’s clearly bummed that he’s out with MD. Josefa wants to talk to Hon, so she ushers Fermin and Jenny inside so they can talk in private. Jo asks Hon to repeat what she said about Isela. “I only spoke the truth,” Hon said (ironically, that’s Jo’s usual line). She won’t talk…unless it’s absolutely necessary. But Jo better watch out: she’s knows a secret about Julian, but now Hon knows two about Isela.

Fermin and Jenny chat about Julian. It’s obvious Jenny likes him, but when Fermin asks, she’s like a deer in headlights. Both Fermin and Hon wait for her answer.

Susana gets real with Gerry: She’s bad, but not as bad as Daniel. She’s not down with this wedding either, but she’s gotta play nice or Dan will kick her out of the house. But she also doesn’t like letting these plans go forward because at some point they have to tell Ivana the true truth about Daniel. Gerry agrees, but it’s Ivana’s decision and her baby’s life is in the balance (eh…to a certain degree…I guess). Ivana comes out to ask what they’re talking about. Just wedding plans, they say. She tells them Dan left because Mal called.

Josefa snaps at Isela for confirming the Bustamante seduction plot to Honoria. Isela protests that she just told Hon to leave her alone and not get her in trouble with Leo and Orlando. Joseta, annoyed, says she’ll handle Leo and Orly herself!

Ivana reminds Gerry that last time he lied about MD, it almost cost them their friendship. In view of that, she asks Gerry to tell her the truth about Dan and MD. He doesn’t want to because she’s still in a delicate condition, but she insists, so Gerry gives up: MD wasn’t a little adventure. She showed up at the hospital in a wedding dress. Dan was going to marry her.

Hellashelle- Loved Part 1. Eagerly awaiting Part 2.

Well, now we finally know how Isela could be the sister of Josefa's dead daughter, but not her daughter. Josefa's man had a kid with another woman and dumped her in Jo's lap before taking off. Does this mean we might meet Isela's bio parents sometime later? Yeah, I totally was not impressed with the way Hon just dismisses Jo's abuse of Isela all these years.

I really wish Alma had told Ivana about the fake civil marriage. Gerry only knows about MD being ditched at the church altar because Dan rushed to be at Ivana' s bedside. Everyone else is dancing in circles to keep this info from her.

Ursula is a master at damage control.

Great stuff, Hellshelle.

This was begging for a catfight and sometimes the older actresses do it better. In this case I wish Honoria could have done more, so I hope this is a preview of things to come. Ho-sefa has been asking for this for a long time.

Maria Dolores really needs to open her eyes about Danny-Boy and now the fat's in the fire about the bankruptcy. She really needs to wonder about what else he's lied about.

Ari did have to worry about losing his job since it was Maleny who got Doris fired by Ivana.

Ursula should be able to teach damage control: Think of all the years of practice she's had to have with children like Danny-Boy and Mal-eny.

Mal-eny is truly delusional about moving in with Max, unless she's planning to do it while he's at the office and make it a fait accompli by the time he gets home. His facial expression would be priceless but this is so wrong-headed on her part. He is so not into her and if I were a writer on this series I'd give him a case of ED the next time she strips in front of him. Really, she's a bit of a prune.

This is great Hellashelle, appreciate every word.

"Dan stops her for a lesson in Rat Finking"

Don't even know where to start so much great fodder and my head spinning trying to keep up with the lies. The look on Maleny's face when she realized her spin might stick with Max awesome.

Orlando did a poor job selling to Isela why he remained quiet about Ari.

What does Fermin believe he accomplishes, pushing Jullian toward MD? Does he think he'll be rewarded if a relationship comes of it. Why not Jenny, she's crushing on Jullian already.

Looks like they cut the rapey kiss of Susana by Daniel. He went 0-60 in a flash.

That was a stupid cut because this was an obvious power play, which is what Danny-Boy is all about.

Part two is up! Whew, this TN was slow to boil, but once it's full fire, it is on!

Thanks Vivi, Urban, and Tofie!

Ursula may not be great at finances (though even Trump would probably have trouble keeping those two happy), but she's a spin doctor extraordinnaire. Dan inherited that and has clearly achieved master status as well; he played Ivana perfectly to get the wedding moved up. Man, if he had gone into Public Relations, they would've have ever had a money problem.

I'm thinking (hoping) Max will be all about Maleny staying over, but nix the bedplay.

And now that Honoria might have a clue that Jenny's into Julian, I think she'll try to steer that ship, subtly. I'm so glad Julian's got a secret admirer, not just for him but because Hon was getting really mean when it comes to MD. Like she can help it if she's not in Julian that way.

At lest her irrational annoyance isn't Josefa-level crazy. Jealousy is understandable, but the woman is clearly unbalanced. The way she hates on MD and fam really made me think there was something connecting MD to her daughter. I thought her daughter got involved with something or someone that MD refused to be a part of and it led to her death. If it's really just bad man luck, then that lunatic needs to be in a padded cell.

Thank you for part two. So much goes on I'm thankful for the commercial breaks so I can sort through who said what, when, where and to whom and how much was a lie and how much was truth. Also agree Usurla is a master spin doctor, she took the starch right out of Claudio's drawers.

What's with Alma all in Maleny's corner, I hate those lurking moms?

For all of Josefa's bellicose nature, Honoria gives as good as she gets.

I don't know how much responsibility Arango has for the financial debacle, but I'm guessing that Danny-Boy and his twin of evil carry most of the blame with Ursula being responsible for their irresponsibility. Both of them are immature brats. They think nothing of wrecking expensive cars as in "Just buy a new one" or getting a working class person fired from their job because of a perceived insult. Maleny seems to think she can always do exactly as she pleases, even boinking Ari in Max's apartment. I can't wait to see what happens when Max finds out about this.

Just read the second part. It was even better than the first! Thanks so much, Hellashelle. This is a tn that definitely needs recaps that give the details, because half of what everyone is saying is lies. I think we need some sort of chart or graph to indicate who's lying about what and to whom.

I'm actually enjoying Hon and Jo sparring. Those two can get really nasty with each other, but somehow keep it civil enough that they can actually socialize together. It's pretty impressive.

I agree Vivi - I don't understand why someone, ANYONE is not telling Ivana about what a horrible human being Daniel is and for her to corre corre corre away from him as fast as she can! It's pretty much out to a lot of characters now that MD thought Daniel didn't have money when she was going out with him so she's not some crazed gold digger, that she didn't know that he was 2 timing her with Ivana, that Daniel is scum that tricked her into a fake marriage probably to sleep with her, that Daniel's family doesn't actually have money and that he wants to marry Ivana for wealth to solve that and can't actually stand her and... some characters now also believe that he is an abuser that beats up his sister into doing what he wants.

The people that know these things are not Ivana's enemies so it's incredibly frustrating having no one run to her to tell her what a piece of work Daniel is, warn her about him and make it clear that MD didn't know that he was dating both women since Ivana thinks that MD/Daniel were dating and laughing behind her back. Alma simply hinted that there is more to the story but she only even said anything after being provoked about her dress being an MD design. Gerry finally came clean about MD showing up to the hospital in a wedding dress but he doesn't know even half the story and at least he had a reason why he held back on telling her immediately - her baby's health.

What is everyone else's excuse? Someone really needs to clue her in to it all...but then again, that would probably make things too easy since this TN loves a good game of telephone where by the time the story ends up being relayed to the intended target, it's filled with a bunch of half truths, gossip and lies.

Thank you hellashelle for your recap! I can not be the only person who finds this TN incredibly confusing even with English subtitles so recaps really help. If there was ever a smart person's TN, this is it because the amount of lies being thrown out, exposed and replaced by new lies is alarming and everyone seems to think different versions of the same story and those versions change daily. Ahh - it's making me crazy!

Linda you make a good argument that someone, (Gerry), should tell Ivana the truth and hope he tells all he knows tonight and as a friend discourage marrying the fool. The focus doesn't need to be about MD, that just rubs salt in the wound, but it could be woman. Because it is MD doesn't discount Daniel had plans to marry another woman while courting and impregnating Ivana and that woman showed up at the hospital in a wedding gown. What's difficult about that?

Hellashelle--
Thank you for the road map, done in style. Yes, Vivi, I suggested a flow chart early on. But an If..Then wouldn't work. I definitely need some kind of visual help. At least they don't keep introducing important new characters every other episode.

This tn is also a clear example (or should I say many examples) of He Said...She Said (Sometimes With Lying Witnesses). But since the lies and the liers seem to change every episode, it's hard enough for them to keep the lies straight, let alone, us. I just live from episode to episode now.

I am really liking ALL the actors in their respective roles. Well done, casting. After QA, where I saw her for the first time, Adriana Louvier is really a darling. I've never seen Sophie Alexander before, but she's tearing up the scenery in her role.

Not much more to add. Packing.
Tofie--have a great trip. I'll be missing the end of Sombra, too.
Vivi--I meant to mention that the SS backyard could stand in for a hot tropical island. You are beaming--as if you were there!

Hear! Hear! Linda--Your listing of what Dan has done to MD and who knows it is great. It's a start. Now we have to do the same for all the other characters. "What did he [she] know and when did he [she] know it."

Dan’s (biggest) Lies:
Lied to MD while they were dating about his job, background, and intentions towards her.
Lied to Ivana (and everyone) about MD being a gold-digging slut, who chased him for his money, and who meant nothing to him.
Lied to Ivana and the rich folks that MD stole the dress and went laughing all the way to the bank/Lied to MD that he had no idea what happened to the dress.
Lied to MD that he really loves her, and his family was forcing Ivana on to him to solve their financial problems, but he was not a willing participant.
Lied to MD (and everyone) with a fake civil wedding, and that he was going against his family/mother to marry her (in reality his family knew it was fake).
Lied to Ivana that MD was just an affair, but he never intended to marry her, and she means nothing to him.

Ursula’s Lies:
Backs up each version of Dan’s lies.
Lied to the rich folks that MD came to her house, the fashion show, and the hospital just to make a scene and pressure Dan to be with her.
Lied that Dan lost the family money through bad business investments and is stressed and worried about the family, to the point of contemplating suicide (like his father)—which is why he feels pressured to marry Ivana.

Maleny’s Lies:
Backs up each version of Dan’s lies.
Back up each version of Ursula’s lies.
Lied to Max that Dan beat and threatened her into keeping quiet about the fake civil marriage.
Lies to Max all the time to cover her affair with Ari.

Ari’s Lies:
Lies to everyone (including his BFF Orly, and his lover Maleny) that Doris is just a friend, not his girlfriend.
Lies to Doris (and everyone) that Maleny is just an important client he can’t afford to lose.
Backs up versions of Maleny’s lies, and the versions of Dan’s lies she demands of him.

Lesser liars: Josefa (makes stuff up about MD whenever she can); Isela (makes stuff up to cover her seduction/revenge tracks); Hon (lies to cover up her real connection to Fermin and his connection to the murder of Espie’s husband).

Oh, and I believe Josefa, and one of the rich folks (Ursula?) lied that MD knew that the marriage was fake, and planned it with Dan so that they could have sanctioned nookie.

"sanctioned nookie" hehehehehe

Thank you Hellashelle, I am having a difficult time keeping up with all the lies and who said what to whom. I really needed your recap to help me out and I definitely appreciate it.

I think that Ivana should plan a fake wedding to Dan. That way she can see how things go without the real commitment to him.

We also need a flow chart for who knows what facts about each one.

Vivi--
Spot On. Can't believe you banged this all out in such short order. Gracias.

This tn should be called Yo no Creo a Nadie. Todo el Mundo Miente.

Leo and Clara are really our only clear eyed truth tellers/seekers, and bullsh*t detectors. And they can share info between the rich and poor folks by communicating with each other. Max is a truth teller/seeker, but he's often the one getting lied to by everyone (and believing half the lies), and so he often gets turned around every which way.

"This tn should be called Yo no Creo a Nadie." LOL! So true, Anita!

I think that Ivana should plan a fake wedding to Dan. That way she can see how things go without the real commitment to him.

Genius!

Hellashelle, girl this Is a good recap. How do you keep up with all these lies? This is hard work, and just so they can keep up the facade that they are wealthy. Really? Money means a lot to these people. Love means nothing, just for the money.
Hellashelle above→→→→→↑ that is Genius!
Let him see what it feels like to be used and lied to. He wouldn't know what hit him, cause
All he'd been lookin at is $$$$$$$. And then she vould snatch It right out of his handsThis would be worse on him than MD.
Hon should have pulled heffa down and jumped on top of her and just beat the crap out of her, tho I do like what she did do.
Max should just take MD away from there and marry her, and don't tell anyone till they get back.♡♥♡♥♡Just wishful thinkin yall.
Maleny need therapy immediately!!!!

Dang. If this were a mere mortal novela, we'd still be dragging on the fake civil wedding. Instead just about everyone knows and only 20-some episodes in!

So was the Gerry doing makeup thing a hint that he'll never be The One for Ivana? Or that's he totally IS The One because he's not a stupid macho jerk, just a guy who happens to work in fashion and is good at his job? (Please please please be the latter).

So, I'm worried about the ominous music after Esperanza said it was a good thing nothing tied MD to Daniel. I didn't want to believe the show would go there when people were commenting that maybe MD was preggers, but now I'm not sure at all.

Also, Dr. Spin (aka Ursula) really did make MD sound nuts. Out of context, her actions could totally be seen as Josefa like. The wedding dress in the hospital note especially makes her seem like a whack job. But just like with Dan, I'm surprised Ursula's spouting this nonsense. She mentioned Max spoke to MD at the event, doesn't she think he'll explain why?. She knows MD was in a wedding dress because there was supposed to be an actual wedding and she didn't even know Ivana was there; Leo can easily corroborate. And I don't care who may or may not have committed suicide, it's crazy to stage a fake wedding rather than just break up with someone. Ursula says MD was pressuring Dan -- with what?! Lord help us if Caludio's, The Judge, doesn't note these things.

Nina - it'll take a loooong time to get MD and Max to that point, what with her latest "wedding" being so fresh a wound. (But I guess that does give him plenty of time to plan a great elopement!)

Kelly - No, I think I was the one who set everyone thinking that Gerry was gay because of misinterpretig one of his lines and my own assumptions about TNs and how they portray male fashion designers (my thinking being heavily influenced by memories of TdA). I'm holding out hope that he is in fact Ivana's true love

Hellashelle, in a typical TN, when someone says something like Esperanza said about no longer being tied to Dan, that would mean that she will end up pregnant. But who knows with this show. If she does end up being pregnant, I could see her marrying Julian to make it legitimate.

cathyx - this is why I'm worried. It does make things even MORE complicated, but the major issues I see would be, yes, (1) messing with poor Julian's heart and (2) further besmirching MD's character (and I'm all "golfa" and "madre soltera"'d out from Sombra).

Of course, we still have 98 episodes to go, so I suppose, even with all of the knots they've already created, we still have a long way to go.

...On second thought, I don't mind it if they really use the plot well. I'd love for a TN to navigate the waters of a positive pregnant noviazgo. Plus, I want to see how Ivana and MD handle the situation as responsible females who value family highly. If I can swallow my annoyance over the single mother shaming (ugh: Josefa!), and they don't time jump past all of the interesting parts, like MD building her business to kick-a** greatness, this could actually be great...

I'm also really interested in Julian and Jenny (and I dearly hope there's a make over in there. We've all seen a million poor girl to Cinderella's, but I just want them to wash the product out of his hair and put him in something that doesn't make him look his father's age.) And I can't wait to watch Ari kick himself when Orly and Doris finally realize they're awesome together.

I feel bad for Isela though. I see her going down her dark path and I just want to tell her to hold on to the light (and tell Josefa to put a sock in it).

Hellashelle, if this isn't going to be a typical show and follow the typical plot lines and outcomes, then I hope to see all the things you described. So no obvious pairings, i.e. Isela and Orlando, but single mothers making it on their own. And even other outcomes, like MD and Ivana actually making peace and respecting each others accomplishments. And dare I hope that Dan eventually gets a legitimate job or career.

I don't give a darn what happens to Dan, and right now I can't picture him ever going legit. But I do think there are all kinds of interesting storylines that could come from both Ivana and MD being pregnant by Dan. I don't think it would be the typical madre soltera story because everyone knows MD (thought she) was married to Dan at the time, the only person calling her a golfa would be Jo, who calls her one now anyway, and MD wouldn't while about being a single mom, but would just get on with it.

That's whine, not while.

Hellashellie: Thanks for a great read yesterday. You caught some nuances totally lost on me. Dan is a rat scurrying around doing his "business" and leaving the turds all over the darn place!
