Help Needed!
Please be aware that this is taking my entire focus at the moment, so I may not be doing my usual updates on the feeds this weekend and I may not have time to get into any specifics about this infringement issue. You're welcome to ask, just don't expect an answer right away!
Update: Facebook has begun to respond by taking down the offending posts, but the list is still growing. 2 down, 1 report submitted without a response yet, and 10+ more Facebook pages and other sites that I still have not finished combing through yet to be able to make reports.
Update: Facebook and Blogger are taking down the offending posts, sometimes entire pages. The list is now shrinking instead of growing, but there is still more to do. If you're interested in helping out, email me and I'll send you some links to research. To repeat--we are making headway, our rights are being upheld, and the word is getting out that, no, copying and pasting is not a legitimate way to run a blog, website, or Facebook page.
Update: This is a special message to those who are now aware that we are conducting investigations and requesting takedowns. I would like to point out that we are within our rights to do this. It's not a matter of just giving credit--we do not allow any reprinting/republication aka copying and pasting. It's nothing personal, it's just our policy. I'm aware there is some confusion and some hurt feelings and rumors are starting to swirl around, so let me make it clear that ALL we want is to preserve our intellectual property rights. If you voluntarily take the posts down, then we have nothing to report to Facebook, Blogger, or your web hosts and you will save yourself a LOT of trouble. If you want to be helpful to your readers, the best thing...the ONLY thing...it is ok for you to do is to share with them the link (the web address, the URL, the "http:...etc.") that points to the particular recap they're looking for. Our recaps are already available and freely shared. There is NO reason for all this copying and pasting and editing. If our recaps are not to your taste, if your readers don't want to come here to read them, then we highly encourage you to begin writing your own.

While I was recapping Quiero Amarte, for months, I regularly checked Feedjit Live. This one person from a specific US location was constantly, every few minutes, accessing one of our recapped tns, then another and another, completely out of order--almost randomly. I mentioned it to Melinama, but she didn't seem particularly concerned about it. I wonder now if that person wasn't copying and pasting Caray's recaps.
I haven't seen that "person" logging on lately, but since so many of the locations now just say a visitor from the "United States" it could be hidden.
I'm sorry I can't volunteer to help you, 5ft, since, as I mentioned, I avoid Facebook.
I'm not at all familiar with Facebook but do have an account. Gladly I will try to start with 10 as Sara tried, if you will give me some hints on how to do it through Facebook. Is there a way to block the offenders permanently? Or is it a question of a daily thing. Can Caray, Caray be copyrighted so the site has better protection?
If you would prefer you can email me at:

Please do NOT contact any of the sites you find. I am getting everything from hurt feelings to disbelief to outright anger, and I'd rather it all be directed at me as the official representative of this blog than directed anywhere else. In some cases this really is just a case of people not being aware that you can't just copy other people's writing without permission. Well, no, sorry, that's not how this works and it's a ridiculous amount of work to copy and paste and deal with formatting issues instead of just saying "Hey, here's this site called Caray, Caray! and they have recaps of the show we're watching. Here's the link." In others cases, sadly, it comes off as a serious attempt to pass off our work as their own..."In my opinion..." when it was actually the opinion of the recapper or someone's opinion in the comments or "Sorry, I fell asleep when I was watching, so this is all from memory" when, ah, no, that was the original recapper.
Despite the pleas I'm hearing, Caray, Caray! DOES NOT and WILL NOT grant any other website, blog, Facebook page, etc. permission to copy our recaps. We've never granted that permission and considering we're a free blog and all the information is out there already, there is no excuse not to simply link to the blog.
Anyway...back to my research cave! If anybody wants to help, you know where to find me. And I'd like to thank everyone who has offered to help already--cathyx, La Paloma, Victoria, and especially Sara!--there's no way I'd get anywhere doing this alone.
My question is, is this a one time thing or will we be checking plagiarism on a daily basis.???
Can Caray, Caray have some kind of "Terms of Use" policy or "Privacy" policy on the main page like a lot of websites do?
I think this is a passerby problem ( Because the plagiazing site appears to be irrelevant if you looks
at the numbers ) but I am glad that FB is cooperating.
I graduated before plagiarism became an issue and before honor codes were necessary. One couldn't really copy engineering solutions unless they cheated from someone else's papers/tests.
However, by the time my kids were in high school, teachers had all these neat sites to check for plagiarized sentences, paragraphs, etc. They probably found lots of plagiarism.
The problem is that if you cannot afford to sue the plagiators then the licence is in itself useless.
I, along with Sara, Mr. 5ft, cathyx, Anita, and La Paloma are continuing to work on researching and resolving the problem. We still have over 2,500 individual URLs on over 10 sites/pages left to match to our original work. I do not have time at the moment to do anything more than what is necessary to submit the reports to Facebook, Blogger, or the web host in question. I did make time to post a copyright notice on the sidebar. I'm aware they're seen as worthless, however, that perception arises because so many people post them and then put zero effort into enforcement/protection.
Well, guess what...y'all have ME. And right now, I'm feeling pretty damn protective and I've got a lot of help, though more would be welcome (see above re: over 2500 URLs). I'm learning a lot in this process and getting more efficient, and while we will get to the point where this is "over for now," yes, it is going to be an ongoing periodic process.
And, yes, things are being taken down, without the need for lawyers or lawsuits.
At some point, I may be able to give more details about which of our posts, etc., but right now I need to focus my attention and energy on the task at hand. Thank you for your support!
I urge all our dedicated readers and commenters to help out. Ten links will probably only take you 15 or 20 min. But that is time we can save Diva.
Diva: I'll be back for another list after the 19th.
