LOL - I don't watch this TN, but I just had to come on to applaud the pic. Fabulous!

Hey, Patio Peeps! I'm back! Just got back today to a beautiful day in DC. I just watched the recording of today's episode. Very happy to see that Sara has broken up with Cheo. Please let it be for good this time. Also happy that Edwina is continuing with her rocket love, despite Simon's attitude. Great to see Sara with Padre V, and wearing sensible shoes.

Had a big laugh at the tiger theme in Slick Rick's bedroom, and Sara's fantasy about her future with Cheo and Antonio. LOL!

I'm worried for both Anibal and Bruno-- they are both in danger from Pedro. Anibal if he sees too much of what Pedro's men are doing, and Bruno if Pedro thinks there is something going on between him and Laura. Yikes!

I've got to make some tough decisions about what to just delete from the dvr without watching. I have a house guest coming this weekend for a whole week, so I won't get the chance to catch up on all the tns this week, and I'll likely fall behind next week. Are there any episodes or scenes from the last two weeks that I absolutely can't miss?

Its coming
Almost done
Laughing all over again while typing up the fantasy scenes

La Vecina

Monday 9/14

Today's theme: Lies, lies, lies yeah.

Part 1

Sara and Cheo fight -
C: same old same old, I'll be good, I'll change
S: Great come back when you have, oh and btw here's your ring
(about time I say)

Edwina and Fidel fight -
F: I don't understand you
E: Yep you sure don't

Simon explains to Bruno what happened at Edwina's and why the bomberos got called
He finishes up saying even though they're talking again and they both apologized things will never be the same as they were before

Fidel complains to Magda about his sister's weird behavior. His wife tells him to let Edwina live her own life and butt out.

Tonio and Sebas get home to find Natalia waiting at the gate much to Sebas' chagrin ( I however was enjoying his discomfort, and so was Tonio)

Isa stayed in the DF with Ric - he thinks this means she's finally choosing him, she thinks this is a goodbye.

Sara gets home after a rough day and Bruno after being appropriately supportive, asks for Laura's phone number so he can contact her about Padre V's projects.
When Bruno calls, Pedro answers and gives him mean looks thru the phone, Bruno must be able to feel this as he sounds extremely awkward as he asks for Laura to call him back

Titina show up at the apt w/a cake? banana bread? something and Tonio covers for Sebas saying he is out at the reservoir like he told her, and then says he's heading out to get smokes so he can hurry her out of the bldg before Nati sees her.
Nati goes out on the balcony and Sebas tries to get her back inside with threats of mosquitoes before she sees Tonio and Titina leaving.
Nati does see them and assumes Titina is the vecina she has heard about, and that Tonio is cheating on Isa again and wants to call Isa right away to tell on him, especially after she finds the baked goods.
Sebas does some fancy talking and convinces her not to tell but more because she knows Isa is cheating than that she believes Tonio isn't

Monday 9/14
Part 2
Meanwhile Titina catches a glimpse of Nati on the balcony and Tonio has to make up a story about a ghost of the woman who used to live there and died in a plane crash(?)
Finally after walking all the way to the store to get cigs w/him Titina yells for a taxi with the voice of a fishwife and Tonio can sigh with relief and ditch the cigs.

Pedro gets off a business call w/his boss (I sure hope this wasn't important 'cause I spaced) and interrogates Laura about why Bruno, a man, is calling her.
Laura explains with total innocence that they are trying to get community service projects started and Bruno was going to tell her if they could use a room at the church.
Pedro acts like he believes her but wants her to call Bruno back while he watches.

Tonio gets back to the apt and he and Sebas have one of those whispered conferences about what lies they're telling to whom
Nati calls Isa, who is in Ric's bed, to tell her they boys are being good
Tonio tells Sebas he should take Nati someplace nice, but elsewhere, the few days she's in San G so that they won't run in to Titina.

Ric + Isa makeout

Laura calls Bruno and finds out there is a room they can use for their classes. Because Pedro is watching, her side of the convo is very stilted and awkward and Bruno wonders what's up with her.
Pedro wonders if he should be worried about Bruno and his wife but tells himself not to be paranoid and tells her she can do her little project. ( riight dude just cause he's young and nice and foxy I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. duh.)

Tonio's parents talk but his mom still doesn't spill about Isa because she thinks when they get married Isa'll break it off.

Padre V hears that truck again in the middle of the night and asks Atila's dad about it the next day - yep its wierd
Atila is goin out exploring, alone since the adults are busy. He cleans up the forest and finds Sara and guides her to the Padre
Sara needs to talk - and she does telling tio all her troubles ( we were there for all that so ... moving right along)

Tonio and Sebas convo over oj in the morning - nada de nada (one of my favorite phrases) last night so Nati is cranky, but they're so loud and Sebas didn't want to disturbe Tonio.
Tonio tells him to take this excuse to get Nati out of here and Sebas congratulates him on growing up to be such a good little liar.

Edwina, Magda and Vladimir talk about weather balloons (? I think) (Oh Edwina no balloon will ever be as good as than Simon's rocket)

Turns out Ric can cook as well as shake a mean martini and he wants Isa all for himself. Isa puts him off and to change the subject tells him all about Rafa and Quique and Tonio ( arrrgghhh that cow, but also I'm mad at Nati for telling her and at Sebas for telling her grrrr)

Edwina and Magda girl talk about her recent troubles and how nothing'll be the same but they'll tell Fidel it is, cause he doesn't understand, and they laugh together about him.
( in a nice way, really)

Cheo tries to pump Rose for info on Sara's wherebouts ( and here I invoke my RPC because Cheo is a toolbox = someone who is not only a tool but a whole box worth of tools ( it doesn't have to make sense, its my saying and I like it))
Bruno arrives and hands Cheo's attitude right back

Padre V tells Sara she make the right call breaking up with Cheo BECAUSE HE'LL NEVER CHANGE ( sorry for yelling, PV didn't, but I'm not a priest and don't have his self control)
and tells her mejor sola que mal accompaniado = better alone than with Cheo ( not really, but yeah really)
He also tells her 'Amor is ser felice '= love is being happy, and asks 'where is it written that to love is to suffer' - Sara comes back with 'its in a song by Jose Jose' -good times

Mon
9/14
part 3
Bruno doesn't want his bud and Rosa to tell Sara about Cheo breaking in to Tonio's apt now that they know ( ungh - I mean I kinda understand why ( It'll just drive her back to Tonio) but Sara needs to know what kind of crazy she's dealing with )

Padre Vicente asks Sara where she sees herself in 20 yrs with Cheo and Tonio (and we get my favorite scenes of the day, however I was laughing too hard to write much so I didn't do them justice)
Fantasy~~~~
OldSara is mopping the floor while OldCheo criticizes her and their much more liberal than his fathere son comes by w/a grandkid for them to watch while OldCheo criticizes

Then we get OldSara knitting the worlds longest scarf while still living with ReallyOldSimon. The doorbell rings and its OldTonio who has finally realized that its Sara he loves and is finally leaving Isa. All the emotion is too much for OldSara and she dies in OldTonio's heartbroken arms.
~~~end fantasy
YoungSara tells Padre V he's right they're both a lost cause, then asks why he hasn't got a futbol team set up yet - he says its cause everybody here has 2 left feet - she says that's what you said about Bruno when he first joined your team and now look at him - he says no these guys really can't play -- good times
Titina and amiga
T: why won't chebi answer my calls, I know he's dodging me, ect
her friend advises her to quit calling and stalking him. Does our Titina follow her friend's excellent advice? No she does not.
Laura goes to church to talk to Rodobaldo and ask after Bruno
The shady guy brings back the dishes just in time to see and be seen by Padre V and Sara. Shady guy thinks he's seen that priest before ( which would be notable for him - guessing he doesn't go to church much)
Fin
Ok I don't get it, since Titina already knows Sebas has a gf why doesn't he just tell her he's spending a couple of days with the gf?
Its the lying making her crazy
Thanks, Sneaky! Atila, not Anibal. A few days and I've already forgotten characters' names. :) OK. Back to reading.
Thanks, Sneaky! Glad to see you also got a good laugh out of Sara's fantasy. Looked more like 50 years into the future than 20 years, but the actors were great. Really Old Simon's side eye was LOL! :) That mile long scarf was hilarious, as was Old Tonio saying he was GOING to break up with Isa in like a month. Yeah, at the rate he's going, that's about right.
I can't believe that Tonio's mom is just going to let Isa get away with cheating on her son.
I also don't get why Titina is being crazy jealous, and Sebas is sneaking around, when she already knows he has a novia.
ungh just read my recap - please ignore the typos folks- I didn't proofread
head-desk
Vivi - IMO the best scenes in the last couple of weeks were with Lucita and the Obispo, I think at the end of the wk before last and maybe last Mon
Hey don't worry about forgetting character names after a couple of wks, I forgot a good number of them without being gone :)
This was great, sneaky!
Oh Edwina no balloon will ever be as good as than Simon's rocket
Hahahahaha!!!
And toolbox was perfect and it totally makes sense! Cheo is a toolbox!
My favorite scene was Sara's fantasy (and yeah, Vivi...more like 50 years.) Emeralda, JDC, Javier Jattin and the Simon actor all did a great job with it!
Thanks, Sneaky!
It adds so much to our enjoyment of the episode to get your take on it too.
"Meanwhile Titina catches a glimpse of Nati on the balcony and Tonio has to make up a story about a ghost of the woman who used to live there and died in a plane crash(?)"
Loved this save by Antonio.
"Padre V tells Sara she make the right call breaking up with Cheo BECAUSE HE'LL NEVER CHANGE ( sorry for yelling, PV didn't, but I'm not a priest and don't have his self control) " Ha ha. I get ya'.
Glad you guys liked it, recaps are fun to do. I wish my schedule allowed me to do them more often.
Sara- I think the toolbox thing makes sense too but I've had friends say it doesn't :)
Denise - yeah Tonio did some quick thinking there and I loved Titina's reaction too, she was all ohh now I see why you leave the lights on all the time
Clearly your friends haven't had any runins with a lot of Cheo types. There are tools and there are toolboxes. I totally get it.
Whenever you have the time, I welcome your recaps. You've got a lot of talent. :-)
So I'm hoping someone remembers this... But as Pedro's guy drove by Sara and Padre V he thought bubbled "how do I know that priest?"
Have those two met before? Or am I making stuff up?
Checking in before I watch today's episode and recap it. I swear, today's the day I learn to summarize! (OK, every day is the day I learn to summarize...at least until I fail.)
Hi, Hellashelle :D
Vivi, yay, you're back!
sneaky two shoes, thank you for Monday's recap!
"Tonio has to make up a story about a ghost of the woman who used to live there and died in a plane crash" I didn't know whether to be annoyed at him or laugh, so I did both. It was a funny story. But I wish he and Sebastian both would stop with all the lying!
"Nati calls Isa, who is in Ric's bed" looks like she's made her peace with that tiger bedspread.
"Oh Edwina no balloon will ever be as good as than Simon's rocket" HA! And also...damn right!
I love toolbox! And it's perfect for Cheo! 'Cause you're right, he's not just a tool. "Sara needs to know what kind of crazy she's dealing with" WORD!
I really got a kick out of those fantasy scenes. And I think Sara's absolutely right that that's how things would turn out. Run, Sara, run!
Ditto to your whole comment about Sebastian just telling Titina he's going to be with his girlfriend. Ugh!
Hi Denise and Sara!
OK...off to watch the ep....
La Vecina #61 Tu 9/15/15 Part 1
Sebastian calls Rafa to get directions to the Chitapa reserve and an eco-hotel where he and Nati can stay, called El Solar. Solar energy, rainwater, and local food! Sebas and Nati are off on their romantic road trip. Nati can't resist a joke about Rafa inviting Antonio there, and Sebastian can't resist chiming in. He leaves his cell phone with Antonio, to avoid Titina…and then not even a block away from the apartment, he swerves because he sees her!
She asks Antonio why she saw his car out there…with a woman in it. Chepe refuses to confirm or deny that "Chebi" isn't there at the moment. She calls his cell phone and freaks out Antonio, who manages to play it cool--after fumbling the phone and a pile of folders.
Laura finds Bruno at El Molcajete and tells him about the available classroom.
Padre Vicente takes Sara over to Lazlo and Cigala's place. Sara's lovey energy even makes Cigala want to snuggle up to Lazlo…awkwardly…she even snuggles in a monotone.
Pedro meets with the other bad guys. Gosh! Isn't it a little risky to be having this convo in a restaurant? Bragging about how profits are up and he's got a mole in the company who will let him know if that task force with the cops makes a move? They won't put in a valve near the ciénaga while there's still so much activity.
Ricardo is taking Isa shopping for supplies. Uh, isn't that something you do with your official novio and not the guy you're cheating with? Kinda ruins the whole mystique, doesn't it? They're interrupted by a call for Ric--Anselmo has a briefcase full of cash that he's got to drop off TODAY. Isa is angry that once again, she's not #1 on his list. She storms out and I'm guessing Ric calls to tell Anselmo to come on over.
Atila follows "the explorers' truck." And then…who knows!
Because it's suddenly night in the DF and Isa is done with her shopping. Ema just happens to be there for an impromptu visit. With wedding invitation catalogs. She accepts an offer of coffee and then thought bubbles that she doesn't know what she's doing there--if she finds evidence of Isa's secret lover, what's she going to do with it?
Why are Sebas and Nati back from their trip to paradise? The hotel was being remodeled. Nati goes to the bathroom, leaving Antonio to fill Sebas in on Titina's latest stalking.
Isa actually designed her own invitations, and she's got mock-ups in her studio. As they go to have a look, the doorbell rings and Ema opens it to Ric with a giant bouquet of red roses. He only gets as far as "Me desocupé" (I got un-busy; I freed up my schedule) before he sees Ema and stops.
Sebas goes downstairs to beg Chepe to keep Titina away. Chepe will cover for him because he likes him…and for Antonio because it's his job. They work out some kind of code so that he can let them know she's been there, but he's supposed to tell her that Sebastian isn't there.
Ric claims he was there looking for Natalia. And the flowers were to thank Natalia for a campaign she did for Conatrol. Ema knows this is a lie and talks about it being inappropriate to accept roses from a man one isn't dating, or about to marry. Natalia calls and Isa fills her in, without letting on to Ric or Ema. She hands Ric the phone and he thanks Nati for all her help, then passes the phone back to Isa. Nati is not happy. Especially because the boys are behaving, but Isa is not, as she tells Isa. The phone now goes from Nati to Antonio so Isa can pretend to care that he's working too much. Now Isa passes the phone to Ema so she can tell him about the wedding invitations and how she can't wait for the happy day. And tell him that Ric is there. Antonio's baffled. And wants to talk to Isa again. But all he says is "good night." Ric likewise says "good night" and Isa walks him to the door.
La Vecina #61 Tu 9/15/15 Part 2
Antonio wonder what Ric was doing there and Nati repeats the lie about the "campaign." Cue Sebas having a jealous fit over the roses…and the potential lying. He would have known about a campaign, right? Antonio stands back and makes a face at the gall of Sebastian telling Nati to watch out, because some things are unforgivable. Chepe calls to tell them about a "fuga" (leak) in 405…that's the Secret Titina Signal.
Chepe's holding her off with a broom and trying to claim there's no one home. She tries to put the fear of, uh, her, into Chepe, but he holds firm. As she walks off, he proclaims her "chiquita, pero picosa!" (small, but mighty!; "small, but spicy").
Padre Vicente gets a bed set up for Sara…it's Atila's bed that they borrowed. Cigala arrives looking for him. He's not home yet!
He's off in the woods, and he found the "explorers" camp. Complete with guys with guns. He remembers his dad and Padre Vicente talking about the gasoline thefts. Aw, crap! He breaks a branch, recognizes the face of the guy buying the food, and draws everyone's attention for a few seconds until they decide it must have been an animal. He gets right the hell out of there and I'm so relieved! I'm just hoping he makes it all the way home to tell Padre Vicente about them.
Sara and Padre V drop Cigala off at home in Sara's jeep. Lazlo goes to get some lanterns. He thinks Atila is down by the "milpa" (corn field…which would have been funnier back when we first met him!) and that's where Sara met him earlier. Cigala stays at home while the others go out searching.
Natalia is off to bed after a delicious sandwich dinner. Sebas is still suspicious about Ric and Antonio teases him that "el león cree que todos son de su condición" (you're projecting your own guilt; "the lion thinks everyone is a lion"). Antonio is just saying that Sebas has no right to be jealous with Titina at the door when the doorbell rings and Sebastian goes scurrying! It's just Chepe with the message that he'd better stop hiding from her. Chepe delivers the message AS Titina, for that extra touch of comedy. Sebastian's not finding any of this funny. Antonio tells him to just stop the madness! Instead, he decides to send her a message that he's having signal problems. She doesn't buy it. And Antonio doesn't buy that this is going to get her off his back either. Titina texts back that he's giving her an explanation she didn't ask for, which therefore means he's covering something up. Sebastian is now determined to grab Natalia and run. Antonio calls Rafa for a suggestion.
Guillermo and Eduardo are drinking and laughing up a storm when Ema gets home. Chit chat about how perfect Isa and Antonio are for each other. Ema pretends to agree.
Rafa suggests yet another pretty place to visit and Quique, sneaking up on him at what I think is a torta ahogada stand, overhears and has a sad. It's the place they went on their first road trip.
Isa tells Natalia that she got away with this night's deceptions. She waaaaaaaants Ric and she doesn't want to break up. Nati tells Isa to leave her out of any future BS. It got her into trouble with Sebas. If Ric is so offended at hearing that Isa and Antonio will be getting married soon, this is the perfect time to just let him go.
Oh, Ric's furious! He knows Isa is using him, but he won't let her "win."
La Vecina #61 Tu 9/15/15 Part 3
Sebastian happily announces to Nati that they're going to get up at the crack of dawn for their road trip. He tells her he's still angry about the flowers, but she can help him not be angry.
Ema is conflicted and feels like she's now the "alcahuete" (pimp) for Isa's affair. She drops a fancy snifter of booze.
The search for Atila continues. He's not responding to all their shouting his name. Lazlo is worried about him getting eaten by wild animals. They'll make another trip around the milpa and keep looking.
Aw, crap, Atila's lost. And the animals are howling. He falls into some kind of pit and the bad guys hear it. Was it a kid? A wildcat yowling? The guy in charge insists it's an animal.
Sara, Padre V, and Lazlo keep shouting. They see one of the neighbors and he didn't find Atila in the corn field. The comadre network is mobilizing the menfolk to get out there and look for Atila.
He's lying at the bottom of a hill with a banged up face and a leg at a weird angle and the howling continues.
Cigala hears the engine of the big truck. As do the searchers, but Sara says they don't have time to worry about that right now.
Atila's losing consciousness.
It's fútbol time. As Bruno and Javi load up the truck, Titina takes advantage of the open gate to sneak into the apartment complex.
Antonio calls Isa but it's going to voicemail. He can't even get a frickin' cup of coffee before he has to answer the door to Titina. He lets her in and tells her to get comfortable. Sebastian's not home.
Isa heads over to Ric's. To "talk." He doesn't want to hear her explanations and says it's over.
Sara and Padre V are still looking when the sun comes up. Sara sees Atila's shoulder bag with its bright red embroidery and they find him at the bottom of the hill…well, more like a really sharp dropoff, not quite a cliff. They shout to Lazlo and the neighbor that they found him. Padre V warns them about not knocking the rocks down on him. Sara insists on being the one to go down, since she's the lightest, and they tie their belts together to lower her down.
Antonio tells off Titina for not believing him when he says Sebastian is at the ciénaga. He convinces her it's in her best interest to leave and not to keep hounding Sebas.
I don't see how three belts is going to be enough to lower Sara all that way. And she's practically sliding as it is. She gets to Atila and Padre V runs right down the hill after her. He's cold, probably from being out all night. Padre V thinks he has hypothermia, but how are they going to get him up the hill?
Isa whines and Ricardo thought bubbles that the rich chick doesn't like being told "no." She tries to explain that they're from different social classes. He mocks her for being "forced" to get married. He tells her it's all or nothing and doesn't respond to her kiss. She leaves, and I'm not sure which one of them got the upper hand, but Ricardo certainly thinks it's him.
Atila somehow gets hauled up the hill, but Padre V knocks a giant rock down the hill and momentarily slips before they pull him up. We watch the rock end up right where Atila was a moment ago.
Pedro gets a call from Carmelo, the boss. They verbally pat themselves on the back for a job well done in San Dionisio. They're going to keep working there, since it's so remote and the cops will never find out, heh, heh, heh. All the same, Pedro will call Ric and find out what's going on with this special partnership with the police.
They decide to take Atila home and get him warm and then send Sara to bring back a doctor. Padre V explains the situation to Cigala. Lazlo will go with Sara, since she doesn't know the way.
End of Episode
Diva - thanks for the great recap
ha ha he -" Sara's lovey energy even makes Cigala want to snuggle up to Lazlo…awkwardly…she even snuggles in a monotone." Perfect! Cigala snuggling in monotone
awww Atila :(
Thanks, Diva. A beautiful recap as usual.
"Antonio wonders what Ric was doing there and Nati repeats the lie about the "campaign." Cue Sebas having a jealous fit over the roses…and the potential lying. He would have known about a campaign, right? Antonio stands back and makes a face at the gall of Sebastian telling Nati to watch out, because some things are unforgivable."
This scene was so revealing of Sebas' machismo. At least Antonio could see it.
What was that scene where ProSara has to be lowered down first because she is so light, but then everybody else just skips right down after her? Didn't quite work, I think.
Cigala is pretty amusing! Remember a couple of days ago when she told Laslo to stop repeating what she said? She's growing on me.
Thank you for the first of two recaps you did yesterday!
I watched this as soon as I got home and this episode and your recap were a welcome treat. I wish the other shows I watched were as entertaining to me as this one is
Kat- I loved the recap so much. Especially your quip about Cig getting snuggly. That was so cute and funny.
So glad they found Atila before the bad guys realized he was there and that he saw them. Can't wait till he spills to Padre and Fidel what he knows and they bust Pedro's men.
I hope I'm worrying needlessly, but I also hope Atila wakes up soon. I would hate for him to be unconscious in an inexplicable TN coma which would keep him from telling what he knows.
Gracias 5ft
Love the Addams family, Cigala is the perfect Morticia.
Ema might not have to take care of Isa, Antonio is getting closer.
sneaky two shoes, thank you! I know! I'm scared for Atila!
Thank you, Denise! As angry as I get at Sebastian and Antonio and their antics, I still find it really charming that they call each other on their BS. I just wish they'd listen to each other, too!
Thank you, Sara! This show does have an undeniable charm. They can't put him in a coma...they just can't...it would be a total waste of an actor!
Thank you, Vivi! I was so nervous those guys would get to him, and glad the one in charge insisted it was just a wild animal.
Thank you, Variopointa! I'm picturing Cigala and Lazlo doing the tango and the mental image is cracking me up!
Thanks diva and sneaky2shoes for ya'lls recap!!
Enjoyed catching up on all ya'lls comments and recaps from last week now that I've got a bit if a chance to get on caraycaray. Last week was busy busy busy.
I am not liking the tatina character. And I'm kind of shocked to see what a player Sebastian is....
"the Addams family" hahaha totally fits
jlk
¡jlk!
So glad to hear from you! We were saying how we were missing you.
Ditto what Denise said! So glad to see you back, jlk!
About to sit down and watch now. So excited!
Oh my. We may need to team this. Lots of tactical stuff and I'm sure I'm going to miss details even the second time around. About to work on it now.
Thank you, jlk! Good to see you back again. I agree with you about Titina and Sebastian, both.
sara, yeah, there was some technical stuff...why do you always get stuck with those?!
Wednesday 9/16 Parte 1
Laslo will go with Sara to get the doctor since she does not know how to get there. Meanwhile, Cigala and Padre V tend to Atila, who is still unconscious. Padre directs one of the neighbors to start warming water, then tells Cigala they need to get Atila out of his clothes and under blankets. Cigala is worried at how slow Atila is breathing. Padre V tells her they need to wait for the Dr. to arrive.
Ric gets a call from Pedro. Pedro wants to know the latest on the Community Outreach project. Ric tells him Sebastian is in charge. Ric explains that the idea is for Conatrol to help citizens with needed services so they will be more willing to help protect the pipes from robbers. Pedro reminds Ric that he sent him a lot more money than expected. Ric thinks it was an amount he considers fair. Ric receives all the reports about the gas that’s stolen.
Ric: I get all the reports on the gas YOU take (extraes)...every liter.
Pedro: WE take (extraemos)
Natalia and Sebastian enjoy their getaway. She wants to call Antonio and ask him to change her flight. She wants to stay until Monday. Sebastian talks her into waiting until they find out if the hotel has a vacancy.
Titina talks to her friend about “Chebi.” Titina admits she may have overplayed her cards. She’s in trouble if Antonio tells Chebi about her jealous visits. I’m still scratching my head on Titina. I *love* the way Violeta Isfel is playing her...but as a character she’s kind of an idiot. She knew Chebi had a girlfriend. Anyhoodle, Titina’s girlfriend has an interview at the airport coffee shop tomorrow. Titina will come along for luck.
Sara and Laslo get the doctor and take him to Atila. Padre V explains that they put warm compresses on this neck and axilas (underarms.) The doctor examines Atila. Whew. His lungs sound good and his rate rate is stable. The doctor thinks he’ll regain consciousness soon. They need to keep the house warm and keep Atila bundled. He doesn’t charge them for his services. Sara will take the doctor back and head home to San Gaspar. She tells Atila to get well soon.
Bruno’s team lost the soccer game.
Bruno: Perdieron.
Simon: You mean perdimos PER-DI-MOS
Bruno: No...perdieron….THEY lost. I got kicked out of the game.
Simon tells Bruno that Laura called. Bruno calls her back. She wanted Rodobaldo’s number. She’s curt and it bothers Bruno. Simon reminds him that maybe her husband (MA-RI-DO) was around. Bruno answers with “gracia PA-PÁ”. Simon tells the exiting Bruno DE NA-DA. I liked this scene.
Wednesday 9/16 Parte 2
Sara heads back to San Gaspar. As Padre V and Cigala say their goodbyes, Jacinto walks up for the usual food pick up. Cigala apologizes and says that her son was in an accident and she was unable to prepare anything. Jacinto is pretty understanding and offers to pay for the boy’s medicine. Cigala declines his offer politely. The doctor already left some meds.
Isa can not believe that Ric turned her down and broke up with her. She’s just about to call him when the doorbell rings. She gloats. Ha! I knew it wouldn’t take him long! He’s already here begging. The joke’s on her. It’s Ema and Eduardo. They dropped by with a tray of snacks and wine.
Sara returns home and runs into Anto (who looks really nice in that casual linen shirt...good job costuming.) He says something about her looking tired...but still pretty. Ugh. That would be charming if he could get off his duff and break up with Isa. As it is, he just looks like an ass (IMHO.) Serioulsy, dude. Why did you look so surprised when Sara called you an idiot? Is he really this dumb about people?
Atila wakes up and wants to talk to Padre Vicente. Atila wants to tell the Padre that he saw the guys that were stealing the gasoline. Lazlo goes to get him.
Camilo sent some dude to the ducto. He got there late. It’s his first time driving a tanker truck. Apparently the route is very difficult to navigate.
Atila tells Padre V the full story. He tells them one of the saqueadores was Jacinto, the same guy that’s buying food from them. Cigala feels like a fool for making food for them. Padre V tells her she was just doing honest work. She didn’t know. Padre V tells them they need to call the police.
The new driver guy wants to know why they don’t take the gasoline out faster(?) Jacinto explains that it would set off the pressure detectors and an alarm would go off at the plant. It might also cause a leak that would cause an explosion.
Sebas calls Antonio while Natalila is in the shower. He can’t believe Titina came to check up on him. Sesbas asks Antonio to cover for him and agree that Anto couldn’t change the ticket. Natalia gets out of the shower and Sebas gives her the “bad” (and false) news that she will have to go back tomorrow.
Theme song happy time!
Ema and Eduardo toast to Isa. They are so happy that Anto found her. Blech. Eduardo was worried about dropping in unannounced, but Isa has been such a gracious hostess. It’s clear she really does care for them. Ema especially wants to be closer to Isa. She’s family know. HA! I see what you did there. Isa mentions it’s dinner time, but she has nothing to offer them. Eduardo suggests they eat out. Isa would rather stay in. Ema questions that. “But you just said you didn’t have anything.” When Isa says she’ll just orders in, Ema invites herself and Eduardo to stick around and eat with Isa.
Wednesday 9/16 Parte 3
Padre V calls Fidel. Fidel will be right there….as soon as he finds his cell phone. Magda tells him to be careful.
Ugh again Antonio. Yeah, you can’t stop thinking about her. If the two of you were actually dating the whole “I can’t sleep. I’m thinking of you.” text would have been really sweet. Except YOU’RE STILL ENGAGED TO ISA! Sara was right to tell you to talk to your girlfriend. I guess it’s a good thing he wasn’t asleep though since Fidel called to tell him the saqueadores have been spotted.
At the police station, Anto insists on going with Fidel. Fidel tries to talk him out of it, but fails. Fidel tells the special anti robogasolina task force that this is their first operation. Move out! I’m assuming that Los Amates is a place? They say it a lot over the next half our.
At the saqueadores hideout, the tanker is full and ready to roll. I think?
Rafa has sent Anto some information. Anto has some device that will help them pinpoint the exact location of the saqueadores. Using topography or something. eyes.glazing.over.
Padre and Lazlo report what they know to the police offer. Urm. They talk about routes? Padre wants to know where Fidel is. Hmm. More route talk.
Cigala and Atila hear trucks.
Dude with Jacinto questions why they are taking this particular route. Jacinto explains, but I’m making the executive decision that it’s not that important.
Fidel meets up with Lazlo and Padre V. Padre is happy to see his old friend. Padre is surprised to see Anto. Fidel admits that he didn’t really want Anto along, but he’s proving useful. He’s helping the police find the location of the pipes/saqueadores. Fidel wants Padre to go with them.
The police are vigilant.
Anto. Device. Datos. Routes. Eyes. Glazing.
Padre, Anto and Fidel question Atila. Where exactly did he see the men. I assume “ninfa” and “pumas” are place names as well. Lazlo says something about that’s what they call that brecha (hole?) Quintin tells them they found the tanker. Fidel hopes if they find the valve they’ll find more people.
Jacinto and dude are on the run. Poor Dude. He fell and hurt his leg. Jacinto pulls his gun on him. Dude begs Jacinto not to kill him. Jacino knocks him out. Silly, Dude. Jacinto is not going to give away his location by shooting a gun. He’s going to quietly strangle you instead.
Wednesday 9/16 Parte 4
Anto and Fidel look at a map and discuss locations. Anto wants to go with Fidel. Fidel says no….
….Which was clearly a waste of breath. Anto comes along anyway. And yes, the saqueadores are still around. One of them goes to pee or something. Anto uses his little thingy to figure out where the pipe is. Or something. I was too busy adjusting my beanie over Padre V’s bullet-proof vest and vestments. Yeaaah...riiight...they would totally let him do a ride along.
Sebas arrives back at the apartments. Rafa tells him about the police operation.
Fidel’s men close in on the remaining saqueadores. Unfortunately that one guy is still lurking nearbys. Anto sees him and gets shot. Thank heaven for bullet-proof vests!! The bad guys get arrested. Antonio uses the walkie talkie to leave a message for Rafa at the San Gaspar police station.
Sebas grouses at Rafa about Anto being along on the operation. Rafa says Anto was right to go. Rafa would have done the same thing. An officer calls Rafa and tells him that the operation was a success and Anto is going to send him the location of the valve so Rafa can close it and get the fuel that was left. (Maybe?) Sebas will drop Natalia off at the airport and meet Rafa later.
The bad guys are all rounded up. Lazlo realizes that Jacinto is not among them. Fidel calls another officer and tells him not to let the coroner take the cadaver away yet. (OOOPS, somewhere up there I should have mentioned they found Dude.) Fidel wants Lazlo to see if it’s Jacinto.
Pedro asks Laura about her classes at the church. They still need to get the AC fixed (or installed?) She’s going to go looking for donations of some desks and a chalkboard. Pedro offers to pay for all that. She wants to get donations, but he can help buy notebooks, crayons, books gises (chalk.) Pedro gets a call. No word from the crew, but the driver Camilo sent was late so that might be it. Pedro tells Camilo to calm down. Pedro hangs up and asks Laura about the classes.
Padre and Lazlo confirm that Dead Dude is not Jacinto. Lazlo is surprised that Jacinto killed his own guy.
Natalia and Sebas say good bye at the airport. Natalia wants to come next weekend too! Titina sees the smoochies and gets mad. She knew he had a girlfriend! That doesn’t seem to matter though. She is mad!
Rafa, Pepe and Nelson arrive at the staging point. LInes about technical stuff. Pepe says something along the lines of “we got ‘em!” Anto says it’s not over yet.
Jacinto is on the run and has no signal.
Padre and Lazlo tell Atila and Cigala that Jacinto hasn’t been caught, but they’ll get him!
Pedro and Anselmo hear the news over the radio. A clandestine gas robbery operation has been discovered!
Fin.
Excellent, Sara! Great job with the tech talk. We don't need any more details.
I'm happy that Pedro has had this major blow, but I'm worried that Jacinto is on the loose, and hope he doesn't realize who tipped off the police. I was thinking he didn't seem like such a bad guy when he showed concern for sick Atila. But then he strangled that dude, and I realized I was wrong. He's a very bad man. Yikes!
Gracias, Sara! You got through the tech stuff, yay! I agree with Vivi, we didn't really need more details on that. It's about like you said.
"I *love* the way Violeta Isfel is playing her...but as a character she’s kind of an idiot. She knew Chebi had a girlfriend." This sums up my feelings about her as well.
"That would be charming if he could get off his duff and break up with Isa. As it is, he just looks like an ass" Yep!
"Jacinto explains that it would set off the pressure detectors and an alarm would go off at the plant. It might also cause a leak that would cause an explosion." Wow, a smart criminal! I guess that's why he's in charge.
"He’s going to quietly strangle you instead." Uh...wow...a smart criminal...I guess that's why he's in charge *gulp*
"Padre is happy to see his old friend." This was hilarious! It reminded me of a teenager going someone just because so-and-so was going to be there. "Is Fidel here? Where's Fidel?" Awwwww, he misses his buddy!
Hi Sara and patio! I finally got to the computer.
Good episode, right?
"Anto. Device. Datos. Routes. Eyes. Glazing." Ha ha. Sara, I love the way you express yourself! I was right there with you.
"Simon tells Bruno that Laura called. Bruno calls her back. She wanted Rodobaldo’s number. She’s curt and it bothers Bruno. Simon reminds him that maybe her husband (MA-RI-DO) was around. Bruno answers with “gracia PA-PÁ”. Simon tells the exiting Bruno DE NA-DA. I liked this scene."
Me too! Simón was his best paternal self here.
Thanks Vivi, 5ft and Denise! I'm going to watch last night's Amores con trampa, then I'll get to work on today's Vecina. This show just cheers me up (when people are in danger that is.)
Sara thanks for the recap
Denise got there first but I like what she liked, especially Bruno and Simon
I think Simon knows exactly what's going on in Bruno's mind
So if he's so sensitive why did he screw up with Edwina?
I also liked "Theme song happy time!"
Its fun how happy watching the opening credits can make us when they're good
'Course when they're bad, or the show is, I can never listen to that song again.
Thursday 9/17 Highlights
Today was mainly fallout from yesterday’s operativo and then some other things. Out of order and from a faulty memory.
Pedro calls Ric about the capture. Ric just found out from the news, too! After talking to Lic Uribe, Ric reports to Pedro that a local ratted out the saqueadores.
Natalia arrives back at the DF. She tells Isa about Anotnio’s involvement in the operativo.
Pedro and Camilo throw blame on each other. Camilo’s driver was late! Pedro’s informant doesn’t seem very well informed!
Antonio tells the press that they were able to catch the saqueadores thanks to the good people of the area. He tells reporters that the people of the area will fight against the mafia. He looks dead into the camera and says something to the effect of “Conatrol is not alone. The people are behind us and working for the good of the area. Bring it, mofos.” Way to put a target on your back, Antonio.
Fidel put Ismael back on Antonio duty. A suspicious character also lurks around the apartment complex. Ismael catches Titina doing the same (that would be merodeando...lurking/prowling….though Titina took offense to that word.) Sebas comes down to see her. She *claims* she was upset that he lied to her. All he had to do was say Natalia was in town for the weekend. They go somewhere else and get busy.
Jacinto manages to get to Pedro. Pedro beat the crap out of him. Jacinto swears he was careful! It was that priest from San Gaspar. And that kid! The kid must have seen them! Pedro worries that Padre V will be able to help provide a retrato hablado (composite sketch.) Pedro finally believes Jacinto, but tells him to go explain things to Camilo. From the way Jacinto starts screaming and begging, I don’t think he wants to explain why he killed one of Camilo’s men. I guess it doesn’t matter how good Jacinto thought the reason was, Camilo won’t be happy.
Antonio and Sebastian want to make Laslo one or the first community outreach employees?
Split second shot of Edwina ordering a globo sonda. There was also a shot of Simon getting a package. Will anything come of this?
Juancho is getting bad grades. If he doesn’t bring them up, Merce is going to send him to his Uncle Simon to work the farm. DO IT, MERCE!
Hmmm. Simon and Bruno had a couple conversations with each other and with Braulio about crops and transport and prices. Surely not important, right?
Isa’s dad plays cards with Ema and Eduardo. Happy family. Blech. Afterwards Isa kvetches to her dad about Antonio’s work ethic and his stupid lack of concern for his safety.
Laura wasn’t able to get desks since the school only had desks for children. She’s going to see if the church has tables and chairs. Pedro asks if she knows where Padre V was transferred. She tells him San Dionisio. Pedro asks her if she’s talked to Sara about the operativo. Laura calls the apartment, but Sara is not there. Laura finds out that Padre V is fine.
Sara meanwhile is at Anotnio’s. She saw his “bring it” interview and ran over to his apartment. She sees the big bruise from the bullet. She offers to get some arnica (Hunh. The same in English...a plant in the daisy family with pain relief properties. I had no idea.) During the course of their conversation, Antonio learns that Sara also saw Jacinto and can help with a composite sketch. He calls Fidel. She’ll to to the station in the morning. Sigh. The bittersweet goodbye.
Hi, sneaky!!
I generally won't watch a show if I don't like the song. If I'm just "meh" on the song, I'm kind of "meh" on the show too.
I did like the song for La Gata....but that was about the only thing that I liked, and then only a little.
I'm starting to get worried for pretty much everyone on La Vecina. It feels like everyone is in danger.
Thank you for the "highlights" Sara (personally, I think they're just as recappy as recaps.)
"Pedro and Camilo throw blame on each other. Camilo’s driver was late! Pedro’s informant doesn’t seem very well informed!" I'm snickering over this...I love it when the bad guys are having a bad day!
"Way to put a target on your back, Antonio." No kidding! I'm like "Dude, you don't talk to the press! Sara talks to the press! Shut up!"
"Fidel put Ismael back on Antonio duty." Fidel is one of the most competent cops I've seen on a telenovela in a long time.
"There was also a shot of Simon getting a package. Will anything come of this?" I was hoping he'd realize that if he told Edwina about whatever is in that box, she'd actually understand and be just as excited as he was. But nooooooo, he has to be a big stupidhead!
"DO IT, MERCE!" Yes, please.
Arnica is kind of awesome. But don't use it if you want to have a big nasty bruise to show off. It tends to get rid of them fairly effectively. At least for me.
Hey, I think the Jacinto actor is on Muchacha italiana tonight. I hope someone can confirm this.
"Bring it, mofos." Hahaha it would be funny if he did say that.
Diva, I'm now imagining Antonio wanting to show off his bruise and going around town with his shirt half unbutton....just the thought makes me giggle hehehe
Ditto on Fidel, despite some of his actions he's really grown on me
I'm out of town right now so was only able to see a sketchy online version so thanks Sara for filling in the details!
jlk
Thanks so much for this stellar recap, Sara. The mofo line had me laughing too. :)
Watching today's episode right now. Shut up, shut up, Sara! Pedro knows too much!
Thanks Sara for the highlights which I think if you include vocab count as a recap
re theme songs I've watched shows where I hated the song, to the extent that I had to mute when it came on, but loved the show and sometimes even when the song is kinda meh, the quality of the show kind of wins me over to the song after a while, in fact I wasn't crazy about the song for this show at the beginning (cringes expecting a hail of angry words, (sorry)) but now I really like it and find myself humming it throughout the day.
La Vecina, Friday, 9/18 Part 1
Lo refrito:
Isabel to her dad, Guillermo regarding Anto’s participation in the “operativo”:
-- It’s one thing to be responsible, but it’s another to act irrationally.
-- You’re right, hija.
Sara is in Anto’s apartment. She says that she got a good look at the bad guy when he came to Cigala’s house to pick up his meals. She, Sara, could help do a composite sketch of the criminal. Anto is hopeful and grateful. They both stand up together and “have a moment,” which includes a yummy kiss on the cheek from Antonio.
Sara floats back into Simón’s apt and is very vague about her errand “to the store.”
New stuff.
Simón and Bruno run into Sebas who is returning from his tryst with Titina. They comment, “There goes a happy fellow who knows how to enjoy life – unlike his roommate.”
Sebas enters Anto’s apt and says he needs to get an hour of shut-eye before they get to work. He goes into the bedroom and takes off his shirt. Yikes! His back is striped with Titi’s bright red scratch marks! And he has a conspicuous hickey on his neck. Anto says his back looks like a map of the world and that Titi must have suckers where others have a mouth. Anto says that these wounds are going to take like 15 days to heal. Sebas goes wide-eyed, stating that Natalia is going to be back there on Friday!
Titi arrives home, telling her brother that she pulled an all-nighter with “Silvia” studying for a test. Whoo, now she’s off to school. Her brother: “What about Chevi? He seems like such a nice dude.” Titi agrees.
Sara opens the door to Antonio who asks her if she might possible have a scarf to lend him. (Hmmm. I see where this is going.)
Sebas picks up a call from Nati. How is he? She can’t wait till Friday. She’s already asked for the day off.
“Jeepers, Nati, can’t we put this off, say, for 15 days? I’m going to be so busy working, I’ll be neglecting you.”
Nati won’t hear of it. As long as his nights are for her, she’ll be happy just to see him.
Sara and Anto are laughing over Sebas’ situation. The problem is, nobody in San Gaspar uses a scarf. Maybe a mascada (silk handkerchief). Anto: No way! Sebas will kill me! (Anto cara de “love that girl.”)
Sebas enters the Conatrol office looking like Liberace with a silk scarf around his neck. Marina says to Anto, “What’s up with el inge? He’s acting all short tempered like you used to.” Anto: “Thanks a lot. At least you spoke in the past tense.” Marina: “Tell your friend to tuck in that scarf better if he wants to cover up those chupatones (NEN – no expl. necessary.)
Pedro comes to the restaurant and slyly pumps Sara for information regarding the “operativo.” She innocently tells him everything - Jacinto and the meals, Atila’s discovery of the gas siphoning – everything.
Bru and Simón return from a delicious meal of panceta. A delivery fellow tell Bru that his supplies for hydroponic gardening have arrived. Delivery guy exits and Merce and Juancho enter. Merce has brought Juancho so that Simón can meterle en cintura (This is a new expression for me, but it’s got to mean “rein him in or STTE.)
Sara gives Pedro even MORE info about how el Padre Vicente and Antonio were involved in the “operativo,” including the fact that Anto almost bought the farm, but he was wearing a chaleco anti-balas. Enter the court artist, asking for Sara so that he can produce the composite sketch. Pedro is taken aback. “Not good,” he’s thinking
La Vecina, Friday Part 2
Merce is beside herself. She needs Simón to help her with Juancho, who stands there rolling his eyes as his mother makes her case. “He failed two subjects, and now has to go to night school. I can’t do a thing with him. He listens to you, and you’re such a good role model for him.” Bruno reluctantly agrees to let him bunk with him. “I hope you bring you game console, so we can get some games in!” says Bruno.
Quintín brings an arrest warrent to Fidel, who exclaims, “This is an injustice!” We don’t know who he is referring to, so we are left in suspense.
Sebas tells Pepe and Nelson that he needs one of them to go with him to Las Peñas to interview Laslo about being the community liaison for Conatrol.
Nelson: “Where did you leave your marimba?” Pfffft.
Sebas gets a call from Titi who is unrepentent.
Nacho greets Fidel and Quintín cheerily, but sobers when Quintín begins to read him his rights. Fidel says, “I’m sorry. Let’s go.”
Antonio is surprised to see Guillermo walk into his office, escorted by Marina who, by the way, is wearing a big ol’ SCARF!
(Intro song – diggin’ it.)
Pedro is pithed. Too bad they didn’t shoot Anto in the head!
Pedro’s “gato” (lackey) offers to off Anto for him. Pedro: No, we have to find someone who is not connected to us. Do you suppose Sara’s ex has the “agallas” to do the job?
Guillermo in Anto’s office. He doesn’t approve of Anto’s challenging the mafiosos. Waddaya thinkin’?
Pedro sends his gato to find out more about Cheo.
Simón and Merce catch up on how her business is going. Not bad. She’s thinking of offering her laundry services to a hotel in town. Bruno says they need to buy some chemicals – non toxic – to spray the plants before the forecasted winds come. Simón agrees and asks Bruno to give him an “aventón”(a ride) into town on his way.
Guillermo insists that Antonio is far too committed to his job, and is losing his personal life. He ups the ante by offering Anto the position of Director of all of his enterprises, including the one shared with Anto’s father.
Sebas needs some documents from Marina’s printer. It’s a slow one; it’ll be a while. They “chismean” (gossip) about how Guillermo, in there with Antonio, is Isabel’s father etc..
Antonio will not accept Guillermo’s offer. Anto’s “formación” (formal education) is not adequate for the position. And Anto will not let down those who have placed their confidence in him.
Guillermo: “The same confidence that they would give the next guy.”
Antonio: “Tell me, would you be offering me this position if I were not engaged to your daughter? Your silence tells me everything I need to know.”
Phone rings. Marina announces on speaker that it’s Sara. (Doh! – Awkward!)
Anto babbles an explanation.
Sebas urges Marina to help him get out of there before Guillermo comes out and sees him. Marina says what was he thinking going around like a Don Juan?
Sebas: “What can a guy this good-looking do?” Guillermo comes out of the office and remarks that Sebas has really taken on a native look. Anto stifles a laugh.
Simón et al get to town and go on their respective errands, but not before Merce thanks Bruno again for letting Juancho share his room.
Bruno: “As Juancho says, ‘¿Ya qué?’ (Wadda ya gonna do?)”
Sebas takes his leave of Anto and Guillermo.
Guillermo: “What’s going on with the scarf on his neck?”
Anto: “Uh, ahem, allergies. They give him a rash.”
Bruno runs into “don Pedro” at the local nursery. (I think that’s where they are.)
Pedro asks for a chemical that will get rid of an infestation in his yard. He says this double entendre menacingly. Bruno doesn’t miss the message.
La Bruja comes to see Nacho in jail to gloat over her victory.
Nacho: “I have a lawyer too, and he’s a “perro” (here, tenacious). You have nothing to pressure me with!”
Bruja: “Oh yeah? How about this?” She produces the compromising photo of Leila (?) innocently kissing Nacho. Nacho’s not feelin’ so good.
La Vecina, Friday Part 3
Merce, Juancho and Simón descend on El Molcajete. Sara is thrilled to see her mom and brother. Merce goes into how Juancho is a dimwit etc.. Juancho defends himself by saying he’s not half the dimwit his friend Jaime is. Simón says, “If that’s your defense, you should just shut up.” Juancho takes off in a huff.
La Bruja continues taunting Nacho. She says, “Have fun in jail!” Nacho muses, “That there’s a bee-ahtch.”
Sara runs after Juancho. (She’s got some serious jiggle goin’ on.)
Sara: “You need to mature! You act like a kid when you hear the truth about yourself!”
Juancho: “You think you’re perfect! Nobody understands me!”
He turns and runs into the street and runs into a passing car! It’s Antonio and his suegro. Juancho starts to mouth off at Guillermo, who thinks Sara is Sebas’ friend, but Sara manages to whisk Juancho away from the pair.
Guillermo: “Dang, that girl is pretty, I gotta say!”
Anto: “Um, sure, if you say so.” (Cara de “That was a close one!”)
Fidel to La Bruja: “Madam, don’t you think it was a little excessive to demand ‘la prisión preventiva’?” (Sounds like you can put someone in jail JUST IN CASE they might do something wrong. Help me here, patio.)
Bruja: “No sirree, I’m goin’ for the gold.
Fidel: “I can see that.”
After she leaves, Fidel goes to Nacho’s cell and opens the door, telling him he is free to go. Nacho says no, he’s not going to let Fidel get in trouble over this. But could Fidel go find Leila, so that he, Nacho can warn her of the coming storm?
On the way to lunch, Guillermo suggests to Anto that perhaps Sara is the reason that Sebas is wearing a scarf around his neck.
Anto: “No, no. Sebas is incapable of doing that to Natalia (Gulp.) Don’t believe that old saying about, “Piensa mal y acertarás.” (Think the worst and you’ll be right.)
Pepe, Nelson and Sebas on the way to Las Peñas (San Dionisio de las Peñas).
Pepe: “Who knew Titina was such a vampire. We thought she was ‘una muchacha de familia.’ You’re in trouble now.
Sebas: “No way. We were both very clear that we were just going to have some fun without any strings attached.
Pepe: “You have a lot to learn about ‘las sangaspareñas’.”
Juancho and Sara now arrive back at the restaurant with Merce and Simón.
Juanco: “That guy almost ran me over!”
Sara: “You ran into the street w/o even looking!”
Juancho: “And then he didn’t even introduce you properly to his suegro. ‘She’s this girl I know from our agreement with her restaurant.’”
Sara: “Juancho, that’s enough!”
Juancho: “Who doesn’t want to hear the truth now?!”
Merce and Sara separate themselves from Simón and Juancho. Merce asks how it’s going. Didn’t Sara say things had cooled off between her and Antonio. Sara says, “Sometimes yes; sometimes not so much.”
Antonio sees Guille off on a plane to el D.F.. Guille’s offer is still open if Anto reconsiders his role at Conatrol.
Sebas and Co. arrive at Las Peñas and Vicente takes them to the house of Laslo, Cigala and Atila. Sebas offers Laslo the position of community organizer on the part of Conatrol. (Interesting how they automatically go with Laslo and not Cigala.) Atila rightly questions why the position isn’t being offered to him!
A delicious phone argument between Antonio and Isabel.
She: “Show me you love me and accept the position that my dad is offering you.”
He: “If you think I’m going to live off your dad, you’ve got the wrong guy. “
Evil Pedro to another gato: “It’s clear to me that the Devil is on my side! I ran into Bruno in the ‘foragero’ (Not sure of exact trans.) buying some chemicals to spray his crops. You are going to beat him to it and spray something that will take down his orange trees.” Bwahahaha.
Cue credits.
Oh, Denise! I just loved this delicious recap and that you used so many quotes, because there were lots of good ones this episode. Loved everyone teasing Sebas. The marimba line especially made me laugh, because he does look like he belongs in some tropical music band with that look. Ha! Marina always puts on her chal (shawl, wrap) before going in Antonio's office because he has the AC on and she thinks it's too cold.
Continued creepy vibe from Isa's dad when he was eyeing Sara and talking about how good looking she is. Blech!
I wish Merce had sent Juancho to San Dionisio instead. Hate that he'll be around to be in Sara's business and cause trouble. What a brat! I think it was nice of Bruno to share his room with the brat.
Thanks, Vivi!
Oh, so that's why Marina wears that shawl. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
My favorite part was watching Pepe and Nelson listen in on Sebas' phone call from Titina. Their physical comedy made me laugh, but I didn't even try to describe it in the recap.
On the subject of Nelson. Is he supposed to be free of Pedro now that Pedro has Slick Ric spying for him?
Sara, the dude in the shower? He did look like him. Shorter hair, though.
jlk, he could keep the shirt buttoned and then rip it off periodically like Superman! I have no idea whether they did a good job of making it look like a hit from a bullet while wearing a vest, but his "branch" story was definitely not going to fly!
Denise, thank you for the Friday recap!
The whole thing with Sebas and the scratches and hickeys was kind of juvenile, but I must be juvenile because I'm snickering at the idea of him having to hide all the evidence. Lookin' totes stylin' with the scarf.
"Merce has brought Juancho so that Simón can meterle en cintura" I was all for that last episode, but now I'm a little less enthusiastic. He's just such a punk. And Bruno's trying to be all buddy buddy with him. Which maybe he needs a little of? To see that Cheo's not the only cool dude and you can be a cool dude without being a sexist creep?
"He ups the ante by offering Anto the position of Director of all of his enterprises, including the one shared with Anto’s father." That was a surprise to me. I'm glad Antonio turned it down.
Guillermo is at the very least skeevy enough to think it's funny that Sebas might be cheating on Natalia with Sara.
"Interesting how they automatically go with Laslo and not Cigala." Right? Cigala's got the Comadre Network on her side.
Diva - Good point about the comadre network. Of course neither Laslo nor Cigala seem like the outgoing, community organizing type to say the least.
Juancho's character is played so well. I'm thinking he may have a big turnaround at some point in the story.
Super duper awesome recap, Denise! I was all giddy over the vocabulary. BTW: according to wordreference.com "prision preventiva" is "in custody" or "imprisonment w/o bail, bu the most important part was that you NAILED the nickname for Nacho's Bruja of a wife. Beee-aatch is right!!!!
Ugh. Just go away, Juancho!
sneaky: I do like the theme song, but I admit that I have trouble singing along so that is one knock against it. I will have to look at the lyrics while it plays. It feels like they are really saying a lot of words quickly. Like tongue twister (similar to the closing credits.)
jlk: When this started, I was not a fan of Fidel. I love him now. He's good people. Sebas on the other hand...he totally deserved to look like an idiot marimba player.
Vivi: Ditto the thanks for explaining the shawl. I'd noticed, but it never occurred to me that the AC was to blame. Duh!
5ft: Yes, the dude in the shower. And YASSSS!! Comadre Network!!
Kat- You make an interesting point about Bruno and Juancho. Juancho keeps whining about how no one is on his side, and this was his reason for aligning with Cheo. Maybe if he becomes buddies with Bruno, he'll see an example of a young guy who is working hard, has life goals, but also has fun and is a good and respectful (to women) man.
I hope you are right, Vivi. I want Juancho to turn his attitude around. I can understand his anger. He lost his dad and doesn't have a strong male presence....something he obviously craves. Cheo filled that void, but he's not around. Bruno is a perfect role model. Maybe Juancho can join the soccer team. Please don't have him cross paths with Pedro.
(Working on the recap schedule. Speak up if any of you want a day.)
And I'm feeling really stupid right now I had no idea....
That the actor playing Camilo is Rolando Brito, Livia's dad. I knew Rolando Brito was in the cast....but I didn't even recognize him. I've been waiting for him to arrive in the role of some yet unseen character. (Maybe I should start paying attention to credits?)
And according to my quick and half-assed research on the web, the actor playing Guillermo is the father of the actor playing Padre V (Benny Ibarra padre/Alejandro Ibarra hijo.) And this is Benny Ibarra's telenovela premiere.
I could do Friday.
Who is this Camilo character? I don't remember him.
I'll put you down, Denise. Camilo is the guy working with Pedro to steal the gasoline. Or have I misremembered his name?
Denise, I hope Juancho does mature!
Vivi, yes, Bruno's closer to Juancho's age, he's definitely not someone Juancho can dismiss as being too stuffy. He's a much better role model than Cheo.
Sara, I love the idea of Juancho joining the soccer team and learning to work with other people.
I can do Thursday if no one else needs it.
Thanks, Sara. Sometimes the names float in and right out of my brain.
I know I've seen the Guillermo (Benny Ibarra?)actor before. If it wasn't in a telenovela, I wonder in what capacity I saw him. Hmmmm.
