Lo Imperdonable #75 Mon 8/31/15 The Hero, the Reunion, and the Mouse That Roared

The optimists in Mina Escondida are betting that Manuel is a goner.  Uspín, however, is sure the mutt is going to live.  Mala hierba nunca muere, he says.  (Weeds never die.)

And it looks like he's right.   At the Hospital Ce_ter, Manny has regained consciousness.  He's weak, he's pale and he's full of hate.  He tells Ana Perla he'll only spare Pablo's life if she stays away from him forever.

Meanwhile Marty guides his motorcycle to the curb in front of the Disgusting Boys' hotel and pulls out his walkie-talkie.  Inside the building, Aarón leads Verónica to the room where Clemente has been keeping watch over Magdalena.  Vero rushes to her.  And now mother and daughter are both prisoners of the Disgusting Brothers!  Fortunately, Verónica's hair looks fabulous.

Aarón hammers Maggie with accusations of abandoning Vero and running away with her lover.  Maggie tries desperately to tell her daughter the truth – how it was Aarón's fault that she and Vero were separated and that he nearly killed her. As for her supposedly "running away" with Botel:

Si Botel no me hubiera rescatado, estaría muerta
(If Botel hadn't rescued me, I would be dead.)

Grammar Nerd Break:
There's a saying in Spanish: El hubiera no existe.  It means there's no use speculating or wishing about what might have been.  What's done is done.  When a sentence starts with "Si hubiera" + past participle, (technically, the pluperfect subjunctive: If I had x-d...) it tells us we're talking about something unreal.  Some grammar nerds call these sentences "contrary-to-fact conditionals."

The "then" part of the sentence is pretty straightforward.  As in English, the verb is usually in the conditional (...I would be dead) or the conditional perfect (...I would have died.)

If Botel hadn't rescued me (but he DID), I would be dead (but I'm NOT.

Outside the room, Aldo is leading his men up the stairs.  Marty has tagged along but Aldo now chases him away for fear that he will compromise the professional rescue operation underway.  Of course, Marty's not going anywhere – not when  Verónica is in danger.

Inside, Disgusting Aarón gets increasingly brutal, raising his hand to both women. And Vero gets increasingly desperate.  She begs Aarón to let them go.   Then he decides to hit her with the truth:

"Are you nuts?  You're my meal ticket!  The Prado Castelo name is worth gold!  I don't love you and I never did.  I'm just using you to get rich and make Magdalena suffer."

At least now Vero knows Magdalena wasn't lying.

Inside the Hospital Ce_ter, Pablo's ma can't believe Mariana still wants to marry him after all that's happened.  But if he's not marrying Mariana, he can't let her pay his hospital bills.  Pablo explains that he has turned down her money and that his friend Marty has offered to lend him what he needs.

Matilde notices puddles in the waiting room.  (Okay, not really.)  She follows their trail to weepy Ana Perla.  "Now what happened?" Matilde asks, perhaps hoping, as most of us are, that Manny has taken a turn for the worse.  No such luck.  It's just that Ana Perla now understands that she can never be with Pablo again because her brother...  well, let's just say they just can't be together.  Mati gives her a hug.  (Sorry, sister.  It won't help.)

Vero shields Magdalena with her body and assures her that it's going to be okay.  Aarón pounces on her words:  "Why did you say that?  Did you tell someone you were coming here?  Traitor!"

What could possibly go wrong here?

At that very moment, Aldo and a couple of armed agents burst into the room.   They find Clemente holding a gun to Maggie's head and Aarón digging the barrel of his gun into Vero's back.  Aldo has no choice but to order his men to drop their weapons.

Hurry up and take the picture!  Dimples is sitting on my funny bone!

Aarón forces Vero out of the room.   What he doesn't know is that Marty is laying in wait for him.  Now Marty springs into action, taking Aarón by surprise.  The two men struggle for the gun.  A shot is fired into the air.  Botel hears it and comes running up the stairs.

Clemente follows Aarón's example and drags Magdalena out of the room.

Marty manages to wrest the gun away from Aarón and get him under control.

I'm telling you, another kid came by and I bought my gift wrap from him!

Just then, Clemente appears.  Though his hand trembles and his eyes are wide with terror, he points the gun at Marty.   "Shoot him!" screams Aarón.  Clemente closes his eyes and squeezes the trigger.

Oopsie!

But he hits his Disgusting Brother!  Aarón falls.  Marty rushes into Vero's arms.  Clemente wilts and is rapidly subdued by the police.

Botel has finally reached them.  He identifies himself as a doctor and, approaching Disgusting Aarón, says he's going to keep the bastard from bleeding to death.  Meanwhile, Aarón continues to curse and threaten Botel and Magdalena.

A quick cut to Pablo's hospital room – Lucía warns her son to stay away from Ana Perla.  If he doesn't, her brute of a brother is going to kill him.

The Patio takes a happiness break.

Marty and Vero kiss as the soft strains of the theme song sound in the background. He is her hero!  "I don't know how I'm ever going to make it up to you for everything I made you suffer," he says.  She's puzzled.  Why does he keep saying that?  He needs to leave his guilt behind.  (A shadow falls over the Patio and momentarily blocks the sunshine.)

Botel and Maggie also embrace.  He gently reproaches her for going out alone.  Maggie says she simply had to talk to Vero.  She couldn't wait another minute to tell her the truth.

At last, Vero walks up to Magdalena.  They will need to talk.  But first they share a tearful embrace as Marty looks on approvingly.

"Soy la niña más hermosa y buena del mundo," says Vero.

"... y del universo, mi amor," answers Magdalena.

And NovelaMaven sniffles and reaches for the Kleenex box.

They hug again.  For a really looooooooong time.  By the time the hug is over, there's a full Loonyvision moon over the Prado Castelo home and Vero and Maggie are quietly chatting in Vero's bedroom.

Magdalena repeats her story for Vero and explains that when Botel rescued her, he was just her doctor.  It was only much later that she fell in love with him.  Her great error was not reporting Aarón to the police as Botel had urged her to do.

Maggie tells Vero of the lengthy and costly search for her lost daughter and of the move to Mina Escondida hoping they'd strike gold and be able to continue the search.  Not a day passed when she didn't think of Vero.

Vero admits she had the story all wrong.  But why did Magdalena think Vero was dead?  Because Aarón wanted to torture her, Maggie tells her.  He burned down the house and let her believe that her little girl had perished in the fire.  Vero tries to assimilate all this:

Me duele pensar que el hombre que me dio la vida sea tan cruel.
(It hurts me to think that the man who gave me life is so cruel.)

Each feels pain for the other's suffering at the hands of Aarón.  Maggie explains that when she learned her daughter hadn't died in the fire, she began to search for her; and she tells Vero about the empty tombs, one marked with Aaron's name and one with Vero's.

In Green Hell, Joaquín defends Blanquita's desire to study nursing in Mexico City.  Raymunda agrees that her clever daughter should have a career.  But wouldn't it be safer if she trained in Pueblo Verde?

In the Hospital Ce_ter, soggy Ana Perla – to the strains of the second string theme song – enters Pablo's room silently, slips her blue shawl under his pillow, kisses his cheek and leaves.

Magdalena tells Vero more stuff – the exhumation, the doll in the coffin, her own downward spiral from which Vero herself helped her emerge.

"Did you think I could replace your daughter?" Vero asks.  Maggie says no.  She believes she was driven by maternal instinct.

They talk about Vero's longing for her mother and how she loved and hated her at the same time.

Jorge sits in his study with Martín and Botel and thanks Marty for saving Vero's life.  Marty deflects the gratitude, saying he was just acting on instinct.  Besides, it was a way of "making it up to Verónica" (compensarla).  The uncle notices Marty's choice of words:  "Making it up to her?  For what?"

The Miracle in Green Hell

For taking her to Green Hell, Marty answers.  And then he ponders the amazing coincidence of finding Magdalena there.  Botel adds the remarkable fact that he and Magdalena went to Green Hell to look for gold so they could search for Maggie's daughter.  The uncle says it's not merely a coincidence, it's a real miracle. They haven't confirmed it by DNA yet, but no one has any doubt – Maggie and Vero are mother and daughter.

[There's uneasy shuffling on the Patio.  Everyone's thinking of all the ways Ginny and Dr. F could mess with the DNA results.]

The uncle is happy that Verónica has found her mother, but sad that her father is such a ...

Sinvergüenza, says Vero, entering the room and completing his thought.  "And a bad husband and a bad father." adds Maggie, right behind her.

(Sinvergüenza is hard to translate.  Literally, it means a person without shame.  "Rogue" sounds too playful.  "A shameless bastard" doesn't sound like anything Verónica would say in front of Jorge.)

Vero tells Jorge that in her eyes, he will always be her father.  They embrace.

When the M&Ms (Montse & Mariana) happen upon Ana Perla in the Ce_ter, they unsheathe their carefully varnished claws.  Montse says Ana Perla hasn't got a shred of dignity.  (Pot, kettle.  Kettle, pot.)

And now the moment that many of us have been waiting for – Jorge tells Virginia's Story and how she came to live to Prado Castelo household:

"A cousin of Salma's died and her husband remarried.  Virginia was born to that couple.  Salma stayed in contact with her in-law and helped him care for Virginia from the time she was a baby.  Unfortunately, Virginia's parents were killed in a car crash."

[This story stinks like last week's flounder.  Oh that Salma!]

It was then that Salma and Jorge took Virginia into their home and gave her their name; later they did the same for Verónica.

"It changed our lives completely.  Before, everything revolved around Emiliano.  But Salma had always wanted a daughter.   Soon there were dresses, dolls, tea sets – for Virginia!  Verónica preferred games with Emiliano."

Vero reminisces about climbing trees and riding ponies – all the fun she had in childhood.  Everyone passes around Vero's childhood photos.  Marty laughs and says he'd have liked to see her with braces.

Now Matilde joins the party.  Clueless Jorge is surprised to learn that his two "favorite girls" were together in Mina Escondida all along.

In the place with no N, Mariana, now bearing an uncanny resemblance to an overgrown, rabid hamster, yells at Ana Perla for messing with her man and blames her for what her idiot brother has done.  Ana Perla says she didn't know Pablo was taken.  In any case, she and Pablo can't be together.

Oh man.  Salma would be furious if she could see them now – Jorge, Botel, Magdalena, Martín, Verónica and even Matilde – all laughing and having a grand old time.

When the men go off to find some cognac, Magdalena tells Vero that the only thing missing from this amazing day is hearing her call her mamá.  But Vero just can't do it.  It doesn't feel right.  Magdalena says she understands.  She'll give her all the time she needs.

Claudia and Pierre continue to bond in swinging Cancún.

Emi, Ginny and Salma are back in town.  They are
barely over the threshold when they hear Verónica's voice calling Matilde.  They look up and see Vero on the landing.

Don't move!  I'll get the net!
Lucía finds Ana Perla's shawl under Pablo's pillow.  He takes it as a sign that Ana Perla still loves him.  Lucía kind of rolls her eyes.  Marty comes to visit.  He fills in Pablo and his mother on the afternoon's adventures.  Then he tells them not to worry about paying him back quickly.

Verónica bounces down the stairs, smiling broadly.  Emi directs an answering smile in her direction.  The two hug while Ginny and Salma glare at them.

Ginny wants to know what Vero is doing there – and in her bathrobe yet!  "Don't tell me you had a fight with your husband and you're seeking refuge in this house," says Salma sharply.

Then Jorge joins the little group.  He wasn't expecting Salma and Ginny back so soon.  "It's been a day of surprises," says Ginny dryly. It's obvious that Emi is very happy to have Vero in the house.  But it's equally obvious that Salma and Virginia don't share his delight.  So when Jorge and Emi go off to take care of a little business, Salma gets right in Vero's face:

"What are you doing here?  I thought Jorge had made it clear that he didn't want anything to do with you.  Emiliano said the same thing.  Now I'm saying it."

Vero just smiles sweetly.   She says she's sorry if her presence bothers Salma, but Jorge is very happy to have her home.  She knows she has his affection and support.

Why does she needs his support right now?  Virginia hazards a guess: "Martín finally figured out who he's married to and he left you!"  Salma follows her lead.  "Your husband left you?"  (And she says it with such relish that it's hard not to laugh.  What a consummate bitch is our Salma!)

Ginny shows Vero the rock on her finger and warns her to stay away from Emi.

Talk to the hand!

Vero seems amused.  "If you're engaged, how come you're so insecure about Emiliano?  He loves you, right?"  Salma jumps right in to defend poor helpless Ginny.  "I hope you haven't lost your manners in the jungle.  I don't like the way you're talking to Virginia!"  Vero asks the aunt why she keeps defending Virginia as if she were a five year old.  "She does it because she loves me!" says Ginny.

Then she turns to Salma: "We had such a great time in Cancún, and then Verónica shows up and spoils everything."

Ginny isn't done yet.  "I don't know why you insist on making my life difficult," she says to Vero, "but I forgive you – It's not your fault you were born bad. It's in your blood!"  (Wow.  And she doesn't even know about Disgusting Aarón.  Go team Virginia!)

The Old Goat waves his green stick at Marty.  He'd better not be helping Pablo run away, he warns.  He's going to have to answer for his crimes.  Marty tells the Old Goat that Manny will have to do the same.  When the police investigate, they'll find out the truth about the incident and all about Manny's dirty past.

The Old Goat thinks no one in Mina Escondida would testify against his grandson.  Marty isn't so sure.  He says lots of people would be happy to see Manuel behind bars. (Or even better, six feet under!)  If the Old Goat goes to the police, his grandson will end up spending many years in jail.

Back on the beaches of Cancún, Pierre finally asks Claudia to go back to Mina Escondida with him.  She'll go, but next vacation she wants to go to the French Riviera.  (How does she even know about the Riviera?  She's seen it in magazines.)

Pablo begs his mother to find Ana Perla and tell her he wants to talk to her.  He's not letting anyone else keep them apart.  The only way he'll stay away from her is if she tells him to.

The Old Goat says the bottom line is that Pablo shot Manny and Manny almost died.  "It was self-defense," says Marty firmly.  Either the Old Goat tames Manny, or he'll make sure they lock him in jail and throw away the key.

Oh how Salma despises Verónica!  She accuses her of hurting Emiliano.  If he seems fine now, it's because he's managed to find happiness with Ginny!  "Virginia really understands him.  She really loves him."

What's Vero's excuse for returning to the house?  Vero says she doesn't need an excuse – this is her home and her family!  Salma smiles meanly.  Vero didn't write a single letter and now she suddenly appears when Jorge is about to distribute his estate to his heirs.  Vero sighs.  She's in the house because of what happened the day before: she had an encounter with her mother and father.

Virginia makes a quick call to Daniel to tell him she's back in Mexico and that Verónica is in the Prado Castelo house.  He offers to come and "console" her.  "That's all I need," she says  "that and your baby." (And NovelaMaven isn't sure if she's been snarky or serious – or both.)

Emi and Jorge are talking about Vero.  It's got to be a shock to learn that Disgusting Aarón is your daddy, says Emi, but he's sure that Magdalena's love will make up for it.  He wants to be there for Vero.  He may be engaged, but he's not going to act as if Vero doesn't exist.  Emi adds that Salma has accepted Jorge's plan to include Vero in the division of his estate.  Jorge knows he and Salma have plenty of talking to do to straighten things out between them.

Salma thinks Vero is making up stories.  "Your father died and your worthless mother abandoned you and ran off with her lover."

Now Mousy Magdalena marches in, prepared to confront the aunt. "That's not true, Salma! It's not what you think!  I'm grateful to you for taking care of Verónica as a child because she..."

Salma rudely interrupts.  "I took care of her and tried to treat her like another daughter.  But it turns out she's an ingrate, just like the woman who abandoned her, a woman who didn't respect her marriage and ran away with another man."

Vero tries to stop the runaway train.  "Listen aunt, calm down.  You need to know that Magdalena is..."

It's no use.  "I know," shouts Salma, jabbing a bony forefinger in Vero's direction, "that you're as big a whore as your mother!  And you're here to provoke Emiliano!"

Finally the mouse roars.  "That's enough, Salma!" bellows Magdalena.  "Verónica is a good girl and her mother is a respectable woman!"

The aunt sniffs.  "And I suppose you know that because you know her mother?"

"Yes!  Because I am her mother!"

Thank you NovelaMaven for a fantastic retelling of last nights events.

Great episode last night. Glad Vero and Magda were rescued and Aaron and Clemente are behind bars where they belong.

I'm glad Vero and Magda were able to talk and Magda had a chance to explain to Vero what really happened and how she searched for her all those years. The hug the two shared after the rescue was very touching. It was a great scene.

It was refreshing seeing Marty, Vero, Botel, Magda, Mati, and Jorge having such a good time together. Everything is so nice when Salma and Virginia aren't home.

Looking forward to when Vero calls Magda "Mama". I understand Vero when she told Magda that she needs time.

I'm glad we got the full story of how Virginia was adopted by Jorge and Salma. The story does sound fishy.

Salma was so nasty to Vero at the end. Can't stand her.

My pleasure, Mauricio! I agree it was a terrific episode with several excellent scenes. I only hope we've seen the last of the Disgusting Brothers, except perhaps for a courtroom scene or a very brief flashback.

As nasty as Salma is, I guess we have to remember that Ginny is pulling her strings. I can imagine redemption for her at the end – unless Ginny bumps her off before that can happen.

"Everything is so nice when Salma and Virginia aren't home."

Sigh. Yes, it is.

Thank you NovelaMaven for the "Grammar Nerd Break". And thanks for not going into detail with the Pierre and Claudia scene at the hotel. The poor fruit.

"The Old Goat waves his green stick at Marty."

If the Caray Caray awards happen we should nominate the Old Goat's green stick as our favorite inanimate object. I get a kick out of it.

As nasty as Salma is, I guess we have to remember that Ginny is pulling her strings. I can imagine redemption for her at the end – unless Ginny bumps her off before that can happen.

I think she'll be redeemed at the end too and possibly get Nicolas.

[There's uneasy shuffling on the Patio. Everyone's thinking of all the ways Ginny and Dr. F could mess with the DNA results.]

Yes. It wouldn't surprise me if they do mess with it.

"And thanks for not going into detail with the Pierre and Claudia scene at the hotel. The poor fruit.

Hah! These scenes don't merit a lot of recap space, but they really are funny. Let's hear it for comic relief that's actually comical!

Ah, yes, the Old Goat's snaky green stick. A prop that deserves its props if ever there was one.

Nico and Salma? What are we planning to do with Jorge?

Thank you NovelaMaven for a great recap.

Wow oh wow what an episode! Probably one of the best so far! Finally Mejia let's get this thing going!

I agree it's too soon for Vero to call Magda mom yet. Not that simple to erase years of neglect even if unintended.

I hate Old Goat's blind loyalty to Mierd...Mani and forcing AP and others to comply to what can only be obstruction of justice! I also think AP and P DO deserve each other. Both of them are pretty wussy and that's just not attractive to anyone else at least I don't think it is.

I'm so glad Vero threw it right back at Salma and VSnake especially about treating VSnake like a child. Man up Ginny. Go Vero!

Sirverguënza is definitely more in line with "shameless bastard" or "jerk" than it is with anything playful like "rogue" or "rake".

Thanks, JackieV!

"Sirverguënza is definitely more in line with "shameless bastard" or "jerk" than it is with anything playful like "rogue" or "rake".

Oh definitely. It's just that there are so many wonderful words in Spanish – infeliz, desgraciado, sinvergüenza come to mind – that seem to conjure up the word "bastard" in English, but it comes across as a little coarse. Vero can stand in her uncle's office and use the word 'sinvergüenza' without blushing, yet we know that it's a strong and insulting term. Most of the similar terms in English have become so old-fashioned as to be irrelevant.

(That reminds me of the Shakespearean insult game: "Thou dismal-dreaming hugger-mugger!," for example.

Thanks so much NovelaMaven for the recap.

I enjoyed this episode. I am so glad the hostage situation was resolved quickly. I loved the moment with Martin and Veronica. Always like seeing them together.

The look on Emi's face when he saw Vero!!! That was classic. He was soooo happy to see her.

Also thanks for the Spanish lesson. I am currently learning Spanish so that will be helpful.

I saw Carlos' picture caption which showed Aaron terrorizing Magdalena because she didn't thank the recapper and I don't want to end up with the same fate. So-------
Thank you NovelaMaven for your hard but oh so great work.
Every time that I read one of your recaps there are so many things that stand out to me or that make me chuckle and that I want to mention but---there are always too many to write down.

Veronica is a prisoner but her hair looks fabulous. LOL, I was thinking the same thing while watching that scene last night.

Mati gives her a hug. (Sorry, sister. It won't help.)

Clement wilts-----A shadow falls over the patio.-----M&Ms (Montse & Mariana)

This story stinks like last week's flounder.
NM---This is just a partial list of your great lines today. I wish I could write like you do.

A DNA test? I hope that Dr. F doesn't get near it.

Carlos---Have you added Selma to your favorites list yet?

If the preview monkeys aren't playing with us, it looks like we are in for another
crazy Marty jealous scene tonight. Is Marty about to slip back into the crazy Marty that we all know so well?

Must see tv.
the gringo

NovellaMaven, thank you for an action packed recap.

Is aldo a police chief or a PI? Cause he'd make a good cop.
Could you interpret what maggie and vero said to each other in the mom and daughter
Moment that made you grab the kleenx?
Selma is just s natural born bitch. She let's all of her nasty crap come out on veronica.
And I wonder about that so called car crash with the snake's parents. Someone should
Hire aldo to look into that.
Loved seeing moma bear's claws(magda) come out when her cub was being attacked.
I hope old jealous marty wont come back. Veronica needs him to step up and be the "MAN" like he did with disgusting aaron. Don't give ginny A chance to screw up the DNA test," IF" there will be one.
The old goat, is he really that stupid? I hope
Martin testifys along with others against that
Worthless weasel. And I wish AP would grow
A backbone stop crying so darn much. If she
Was thinking clearly she'd know manny can't kill pablo. She could tell somebody about the threats, that would help put that jackass in jail. I don't like the old goat, anybody with me? Sense he loves his grandson so much
He should go to jail with him.

Virginia isn't pulling Salma's strings. Salma is nasty to Veronica because she doesn't like Veronica and probably never wanted her around. I'm sure Virginia picked up on Salma's dislike of Veronica even as a child and played up to it. Remember, Jorge & Salma adopted Virginia first, then Veronica. Also, Veronica was sent away to boarding school while Virginia wasn't. I would hazard a guess that Salma was against Veronica being adopted by her & Jorge from the very beginning. It's just that now that Veronica is an adult, it's easier for Salma to be openly nasty to her.

Salma couldn't be as openly nasty to Veronica as a child because Jorge would've shut that down.

NovelaMaven,

Thank you adding for wonderful screen caps. I loved them all. My favorite was the one of Clemente's facial expression as he pulled the trigger.

"Though his hand trembles and his eyes are wide with terror, he points the gun at Marty."

The actor did a good job with the scene. You could tell that it was the first time that Clemente ever has had to pull the trigger.

"Let's hear it for comic relief that's actually comical!"

Yes, it was a very funny scene. And a strange one at the same time. I wonder what the actors think when they have to do a scene like this one.

Hi Nina,

To answer your questions:

Aldo is a PI, not a cop. I agree he'd be a great policeman.

What made NM reach for the Kleenex:

When Vero was a little girl, her mother used to say: "You're the most beautiful and the best little girl in all the world." And Vero would ask: "And in all the universe?" Her mother would reply: "Yes, in all the universe."

In this scene, Vero is remembering those exchanges. She says: "I'm the most beautiful little girl in all the world," and Magdalena replies: "And in all the universe."

"I don't like the old goat, anybody with me?"
Oh yeah! Can you fit us all in your house?

Nina,

"I don't like the old goat, anybody with me?"

Nina, I'm right there with you. There was a time when he started to become likable - when he had accepted Pablo and started not to think so badly of outsiders. Now that he has reverted back to his old self he's completely unlikable.

Thanks, Duchess!

"The look on Emi's face when he saw Vero!!! That was classic. He was soooo happy to see her."

You're so right. I've started to appreciate how well Ana Brenda and Sergio work together.

Hi gringo,

If you ever get so excited by the episode that you forget to say thank you, I promise I'll dive down and try to retrieve your comment. :D I'm delighted that you enjoyed the recap today.

You can never tell with the preview monkeys. Sometimes they're right, but what they show happens several episodes down the road. I'm definitely going to watch and find out.

It seems to me that Dr. Carlos has already come to Salma's defense. (Don't tell him I said this, but he seems to have a particular weakness for these ladies who in English would have names like Muffy or Pinky and are dressed up as if headed for their 30 year sorority reunion.)

NovelaMaven,

"Nico and Salma? What are we planning to do with Jorge?"

That's a good question. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Right now the writers seem to be pushing the possibility that Nico and Salma will be together.

Mauricio, glad you liked that handful of screen shots. Baby steps. I'm still learning. I wanted to include more, but the video froze up on me and I got discouraged. Now I have a greater than ever appreciation of the work of my fellow recappers, especially yours.

And yes, the Claudia-Pierre bondage scene was very strange. I like to think of the actors giggling between takes.

Anon207, In an earlier episode, Virginia described the way she made Verónica out to be the bad guy in front of Salma from very early on. She would cry and accuse Vero of hitting her when Vero had done nothing. Salma would end up comforting Virginia and punishing Vero.

I see Salma as a very weak and stupid woman who is particularly susceptible to manipulation, especially when it is wrapped in unctuous flattery.

Wow! NovelaMaven. Your recaps are always such gems, but this time you've even outdone yourself. Your screen caps are perfectly chosen and the captions are wickedly hilarious. I love how you painlessly slipped in the excellent grammar lesson. My tutor, Adriana would heartily approve of the way you make such a difficult construction comprehensible and downright easy. I'm loving the word discussion, I hope that we keep this sort of thing going. I'm guessing that Judy will also agree. Oh... and thanks.

My favorite line:

"Claudia and Pierre continue to bond in swinging Cancún."

Beautifully understates my favorite scenes. I could've used a cigarette after watching that.

gringo,

"Have you added Selma to your favorites list yet?"

She's been on my favorites list since the very first scene in the very first episode. She's gorgeous.

I have to put in a good word for the actor playing Crescencio. He says so very much with just his eyes and his gestures. He is a master.

Duchess,

"The look on Emi's face when he saw Vero!!!"

Yes, he didn't need to utter a word for us to know precisely how he felt.

Carlos

Man looks like I missed a good one!

Thank for the recap! I'll have to try to catch it on dvr before tonight's episode. FF thru all of AP's scenes! Her whiny crying makes me crazy!

"Oh... and thanks."

Carlos, you rogue! (Not to be confused with sinvergüenza, infeliz or desgraciado!!!!)

I'm honored that you think your beloved Adriana would approve of the little grammar lesson. I also agree that Judy's going to enjoy our efforts to think about words and their meaning.

Thank you so much. (I don't believe there's a rule that recappers have to thank commenters – not yet, anyway – but the comments around here often do feel like gifts.)

Carvivlie,
I hope you do get a chance to catch the episode. It was especially satisfying to see Aarón and Clemente taken out of the picture. And it's nice that Vero doesn't have to keep talking trash about her mother. It looks like tonight's going to be a good one too.

Nina---Mauricio hit it right on with/about the Old Goat. In the beginning he was just terrible and not liked at all. Then after Pablo won him over, he became a changed person and rather likeable. But now, he is back to his unlikeable self. I can't wait for Ana Perla to get some courage and say ---Grandpa, I'm 18 now and I'm marrying Pablo. Case closed. If Grandpa Goat had heart trouble or a heart condition of some kind, I think that a statement such as that would put him over the edge but she's gotta do it.

NovelaMaven---I went back for a second time around and the screen shots are mere perfection.

And another thank you is in store for telling us what the Vero/Magda Kleenex time conversation was about. That was heart warming.

NovelaMaven,

"...he seems to have a particular weakness for these ladies who in English would have names like Muffy or Pinky and are dressed up as if headed for their 30 year sorority reunion."

It's a little scary how well you seem you know me. By the way, I wonder how much enthusiasm there would be for setting up a Salma Table?

Carlos

Just a lucky guess.

A Salma Table? Perhaps you could use it to accommodate the overflow from the Virginia table...

You will find crazy recaps for all the episodes . Connie Brandon Verzak is on the same wavelength as our excellent Caray recappers--intelligent, witty, clever, outrageously irreverent, and so deliciously funny

NovelaMaven,

"...overflow from the Virginia table..."

Heh heh.

Was anyone else concerned for Botel last night, first as he was drinking wine with dinner and afterward when he join Jorge for some Cognac? However, Magdalena didn't seem disturbed.

Thanks Susanlynn,

I checked a few out. Your right, very funny.

NM, wonderful recap of a drama-studded episode. Had to go back and see the screen caps as well. Yes, Vero's hair looked fabulous, as always.

It was refreshing that Vero wanted a little time before she called Magda "mama." So many times, it's an instant acceptance.

Pierre seemed a wee bit shameless in the hotel room with Claudia, although the fruit wasn't able to call him names. Claudia using her persuasion skills to the utmost.

Vero will need all of Jorge's good will (joven Emi's as well) if Salma puts up a fight in the distribution of the properties.

Thanks so much for the kind words, La Paloma.

True. Could it be that the writing here is nuanced? Nah, what am I thinking?

:D

NovelaMaven,
Thanks so much for your recap. You didn't miss a thing. It was awesome. So sorry I am late to the party. Internet has been down all day at work. I couldn't even log on to comment on my phone. Grrr!!!

Anyhoo, last night's episode was really good. I too was happy that the rescue happened so quickly. I really didn't feel like watching Vero and Maggie being tortured by Aaron and Clemente.

Salma totally went overboard with Vero and her accusations. V-Snake has her (Salma) eating out of her hand. She will believe anything Virginia tells her. It's too bad because Vero could have used a mother figure growing up. Thank goodness Matilde was there to watch over Vero.

And before I forget, I am so glad that Pablo is not taking Mariana's money. It was very nice of Marty to offer his financial assistance to Pablo. Yay!

After watching the previews I am wondering if crazy Marty will make a return. Can't wait to get home and watch.

Thanks again NovelaMaven!

Hasta Pronto!

No worries, AuntyAnn – The Patio is always open. I hope your internet woes at work have been resolved by now.

I appreciate the kind words.

I agree that there were a lot of things to applaud last night (though Salma the meanie wasn't one of them). Of course since we're nowhere near the end of the story, it makes sense to keep our seatbelts fastened and not be too surprised if we hit a bit of turbulence. :-)

Novella I see why you grabed the kleenx, that was so sweet, what a beautiful memory. That also explained the look on marteens and botels faces. I'm glad shes got her moma, shes going to need her, and soon .

Thank you NovellaMaven, for interpreting that for me. Gracias!!!!
