Lo Imperdonable #90 Mon 9/21/15 Say what? Alfredo Sauce wasn't even on the menu!

Q:  Yeah, but why did the OTHER engineer cross the road?
A:  To get to the homicide!

Marty is crossing the street in pursuit of Verónica when a speeding car comes out of nowhere.  Whoa!  The driver is aiming right at him!

Hold on!  You forgot the beer!

At the last second, Marty rolls out of the way.  Wait!  Someone else is there too, someone who isn't as lucky as Marty.  This person is thrown in the air like a ragdoll and then crashes down on the ground, bloodied and still.  Oh no, it's Alfredo!

[¿¡Qué!!???   ¿ALFREDO??? What is he even doing there?  And in that last frame, didn't we see Marty crazily trying to stop the car with his bare hands?  How did he get away?]

Marty and Vero rush to him.  Is Alfredo's neck broken?  If it wasn't before, it might be now as Marty hysterically grabs his unfortunate friend's head and sobs.   Instead of pulling out her phone and summoning help, Vero is screaming like a banshee.

Daniel, now officially a murderer – albeit an inept one – observes the scene from a discreet distance.   Not at all concerned about his actual victim, he is irked that Marty got out alive.  Vowing to keep trying until he gets it right, he pulls out his phone.

¡Aguanta! Marty exhorts his friend's limp, unconscious form.  Vero embraces Marty and tries to comfort him.

A little Virginia Ham at Empresas Prado Castelo

Virginia tells the Patio she is going to send confidential company documents to the Italian client so he can negotiate a  deal that is better for him and worse for Verónica.  Virginia will end up pocketing a nice chunk of change.

Ginny seems a little annoyed by Daniel's phone call. (Yes, she's the person he is calling.  He actually doesn't have that many friends... well, any friends.)  He says he just wanted her to know that his plan for revenge has begun.  Now this is what she has to do...

Dear Abby,
My best friend is dating my mom...

While elsewhere in the company, after assuring Nicolás that his dinner plans with Salma don't concern him right now, Emiliano asks Nico to reserve four rooms in Pierre's hotel in Pueblo Nuevo.

No thanks to Marty and Vero, an ambulance has finally arrived on the scene.  Both of them have crowded into the vehicle, and it is now rushing Alfredo to the hospital – with this guy's luck, most likely the N-less one.   Alfredo is conscious and talking.  Sure that he is about to die, he expresses his wish to be cremated TODAY and to have his ashes scattered in the woods where he grew up.  Vero and Marty keep telling him to hold on.  He's not going to die!

But Alfredo knows a swan song when he hears one. "Be happy," Alfredo tells them.  "Fight for your love!"  He thanks Marty for everything – he was his only family, his brother.

Oh no. The monitor starts beeping ominously.  Is Alfredo in cardiac arrest? Is there is an EMT in the ambulance?  It doesn't matter.  Marty and Vero have some grief to grieve and they're going to do it right in the center of the frame, right over Alfredo's dying (or dead) body.  Vero tells Marty she loves him.  Nothing will separate them, she says.

Ah, finally, the EMT wakes up.  He places his stethoscope on Alfredo's chest...

[Note to self: pack own portable defibrillator for next trip to Mexico.]

The Morality of Goats

The Old Goat and Manuel cast Ana Perla into Cave Jail  (Oh no!)  She will have to stay there to conceal her sin.  Once she gives birth, the Old Goat will get rid of her issue.

But you can call me Abuelita

Though she recognizes the danger and difficulty that lie ahead, Lucía gives Pablo her blessing to go after Ana Perla and bring her back to live with them. After all, the girl is carrying her grandchild!

What's even worse than the n-less Hospital Center?

Oh man.  Marty sits on a bench in the morgue and sobs.  Vero tells him there's nothing more he can do for his friend and tries to persuade him to leave with her.  But Marty refuses.  "Why does God insist on taking away everything that I love?  Everyone I love ends up dying on me!" He can't take it anymore.  He'll give her the divorce, he snuffles.  He just wants her to leave.  If he's going to lose everything, he'd rather lose it all at once.

Vero repeats that she isn't leaving.  She isn't proposing a new start, but rather a break or a truce (tregua) – time to meditate, to think about what to do.   Right now, they will comply with Alfredo's last wishes.  Together.

She embraces him and tells him that she loves him with all her heart.

Don't call us, we'll call you.  What?  No phone?  Too bad!

Joaquín pleads with Lorenzo for a job at La Morenita.  But Lorenzo, who should know better, is clearly affected by the gossip about Joaquín. (Why?  Is his stupid 'stache cutting off the circulation to his brain?) He begs off, saying they'll have to wait until Martín is back.  (But why not ask Botel?)  Just then another miner comes in and tells Joaquín that the whole Goat Family is back in Mina Escondida.

Good news for Les Oliviers!  (Claudia who?)

Pierre is thrilled to learn that Verónica will be back in town.

The woods near Alfredo's childhood home.

Marty dumps Alfredo's ashes at the foot of a huge tree.  "I can't go on," says Marty.  "You must go on," says Verónica.

They embrace in the shade of the splendid tree. Marty recalls how he and Demetrio scattered his beloved mother's ashes.  (I'm betting he didn't dump those like the contents of his car's ashtray.)  For the moment, at least, Marty is content with Vero's idea of a tregua.  It gives him something to hope for, something to live for.

Good news for the singer!  (Pierre who?)

Claudia looks forward to the return of her Martincito.  "This time you'll be all mine!"

The Hospital Center.  (The one WITH the N)

I guess Marty is on his own right now because Vero is standing next to Magdalena at Matilde's bedside.  She says she has some misgivings about going to Mina Escondida.  Maybe her place is right here with her nana. But Matilde has mastered enough meaningful grunts to veto that plan.  Magdalena will take care of Mati.  By the time Vero returns, Mati will be as good as new.  For tonight, however, Vero is going to stay with her nana.

A long night

Marty sits alone in his apartment and sobs.

Vero maintains a bedside vigil in Matilde's room.

Ana Perla huddles in the miserable Cave Jail.  Cough cough.

A new day

Pablo stops by Marty's apartment to offer his condolences.  The two talk about friendship.  (Maybe Pablo will be Marty's new bestie.  Alfredo who?)  Marty asks about Pablo's life, realizes how he is struggling and immediately offers him work at the construction company.  He listens sympathetically to the Ana Perla problem...

What to Expect When You're Expecting... and they've locked you up in Cave Jail

Ana Perla doesn't look so good.  She is coughing.  Her brow is covered with sweat.  She rubs her belly as if in pain.

In the Executive Suite, the V-girls give each other the business.

Virginia (in a leopard print blouse, no less) didn't think Vero would come to work today, what with Marty's friend dying and all.  Cold-hearted?  It's not her fault if the poor fool didn't know how to cross the street!

Verónica (glamorous in a black blouse and flowing cocoa-colored trousers) strikes back.  Not only is Virginia a hypocrite, she's also a MURDERER!  "You tried to kill Matilde!  I have the evidence to put you in jail!"  Did Virginia forget that the casing of her tablet broke when she pushed Mati down the stairs?  But that's not the proof that's going to do her in.  Oh no.  It's the testimony of Matilde herself!  [WHAT?  YOU IDIOT!  You might as well kill Mati yourself and get it over with!]

Virginia scoffs.  "That old woman can't speak!"  But Vero can't seem to shut up.  "Matilde CAN speak and she herself confirmed that you pushed her down the stairs.  It's over, Virginia.  You're going to jail forever!"

For just a moment, Virginia's face loses all trace of mockery.  This could be serious.   But after the commercial break, she goes back on the offensive, accusing Vero of trying to harm her, as usual.  Her Aunt Salma is the only one who loves her, she whines, the only one who ever realized she is a sensitive person who needs affection and love.

It's Vero's turn to scoff.  "You sensitive?  You're a bad person!  You're a bitter woman and no one loves you."

"Nobody married ME for revenge," retorts Virginia (a tad insensitively, but frankly, understandably).  "Nobody dragged me to a little town to live like a slave.  Nobody deceived me."

Vero gives as good as she gets: "Well nobody has ever loved you." (This is pretty nasty stuff, Vero.  Have our writers lost track of which V is which?)

"You're wrong," says Virginia.  "Someone loved me to the point of madness.  Someone loved me so much that he killed himself because of me.  Have you forgotten Demetrio?"

Well Marty sure hasn't forgotten about him.

He vows to help Pablo any way he can, realizing that using Demetrio's money like this is a way to honor him.

What (some) women want

Vero accuses Virginia of using Demetrio.  Virginia agrees.  "That's the only thing men are good for – giving us what we want!"

Then she mocks Vero's talk about morals and crows that she always wins: after all, she's still in the mansion and Uncle Jorge has given her another chance in the business.

Vero retorts that SHE now owns a goldmine while Ginny the viper is still slithering along on the ground, trying to get her 15% of the Prado Castelo fortune.  (Again, I ask: have the writers mixed up the dialogue?)

Now those are fighting words!

In the Prado Castelo home – A mild snub, an overreaction, a lie.

Jorge witnesses Salma's haughty treatment of Chole, the new maid.  Now he understands why Matilde left – Salma must have kicked her out!

Salma won't admit it.  She insists that she only meant to give the poor old dear a little time to rest, what with all her aches and pains. Jorge is unconvinced by this profession of concern.  Why hasn't Salma asked about Mati?  Why hasn't she ever visited her in the n-less hospital?  "You live in a bubble of selfishness.  It's clear that the only one you care about is Virginia!"

"When did we become strangers?" Jorge muses.  He suspects that their relationship may be beyond repair.  Salma seems so cold, so distant, so calculating.  He doesn't know who she is anymore.  [Um, that is who she is, Jorge.]

Now Jorge rises to leave for an appointment in the office "that may change the future of their relationship forever."  [Oho!  The detective?]

THWAPP!  THWAPP THWAPP!

Ginny slaps Vero.  Then Vero slaps back. Twice.  "I warned you!  For every slap you give me, I'll give you two!  You're a rotten person who hates everyone!"

"I always hated you," says Ginny, smiling dangerously.  "But now I hate you more.  I'm not going to let you end up with everything!"

"What are you going to do?  You've lost and you're going to end up in jail.  Now get out of my office!"

Virginia makes her way back to her desk.  The Patio observes that she looks a little peaked.  Berta notices too and asks if something is wrong.  Ginny, of course, rudely brushes off her concern.  Then she thought-bubbles about Matilde, all the while breathing with difficulty and holding a hand over the place where her heart would be if she had one:  "She was supposed to die, damn it!  Now I have to kill her."

But Virginia isn't one to dwell on the negative.  She quickly acknowledges the upside – killing Matilde will be a fitting punishment for Verónica, Emi and Jorge!

In the once again n-less Hospital Center...

Magdalena rhapsodizes about the wonderful future in store for her, Vero and Mati.  [Come on.  Now you're just asking for it, Magdalena.]

Llamada del sangrón

Virginia takes a phone call from a man asking for Vero and who will only identify himself as "a very close friend (un amigo íntimo)."  At first, we only see the white of caller's beard.  It looks sickeningly familiar.  Then the camera pulls back and we see the sole surviving Disgusting Brother – Aarón!  Ewwww! (At least he's still in prison.)

Maybe Ginny hasn't learned how to transfer phone calls.  Or maybe she just wants to see Vero squirm.  Whichever it is, she walks back to Vero's office to tell her about the call from this "intimate" friend of hers.

Vero picks up the receiver.  She is dismayed to hear Aarón's voice.   When he asks in his smarmy, menacing way why she hasn't visited him, she says she has no intention of doing so.  He is dead to her.

"No, love, I'm alive."

"You know you're never going to get out of jail."

"That remains to be seen.  You'll be getting news of me very soon.  See you later, love!  Mwaah!" [Blech!]

Crazy Marty, Patron of the Arts and of Lost Causes

Back in Pablo's apartment, Lucía thanks Marty for everything.  Marty is happy to help, especially now that he is going to be the baby's godfather.  One of Pablo's paintings catches Marty's eye.  He offers to buy it (though Pablo has to be talked out of giving the painting away).  He confides that he is planning a surprise for Verónica.  [Oh lord.]

Princes are like elephants...

And Arturo, Prince of the vegetable kingdom, has not forgotten his Blanquita.  He gazes lovingly at a newly printed photo of his beloved.

A nascent mutiny on this Ship of Fools?

Blanquita, meanwhile, is under house arrest in Pueblo Nuevo.  She and Polo want to see Ana Perla but the Old Goat won't tell them where she is.  When Polo tries to make a run for it, Manuel grabs him roughly.  "Let go of him," cries Raymunda.  Julio leaps into the fray.  "Let him go, Manuel!  You're not going to hit anyone in this house!"  Manuel just laughs.

The perennially choleric Old Goat gets right in Julio's face:  "That's all I needed – a mere servant meddling in my business!"  With that, he orders Julio out of the house.  But Julio says he's going to find Ana Perla – he won't allow anyone to hurt her or her child.

"What do they want to do to Ana Perla and her baby?" Polo asks Raymunda.  "Nothing bad," she tells him.

"Nothing bad?" repeats Blanquita angrily.  "So someone could take us away from you and you wouldn't care?"

"But that's different," says the maddeningly lily-livered Raymunda.

"I'm the head of the family!  What I say goes in this house," thunders the Old Goat.

Joaquín, who has entered unnoticed, now speaks up.  "Maybe in YOUR house, but not in MINE!"

I loathe you, man.

Virginia agrees to meet the client for dinner that night.  [Is this what Daniel ordered?]  Emi overhears part of the conversation and assumes it's just a routine seduction.  "You don't waste any time, do you?" he says nastily.  "It sounds as if you've already chosen your next victim."

She says it's not what he thinks. [It's much worse!]  She tries to tell him about Vero's mysterious phone call, but he refuses to listen to Ginny's insinuations.  He loves Verónica and nothing is going to make him doubt her.  Besides, what Virginia does is of no interest to him at all.  She can have fun with anyone she wants.

He leaves her seething.  She vows to "have fun" with "all of you."  She swears they are all going to pay.

Berta passes by just then and gets a chilling glimpse of Ginny with her mask off.

Vero rubs her arm and tells herself to calm down – Aarón is never going to get out of jail.

In his cage-like cell, Aarón vows revenge.  He has to find someone to help him.  Who?

Clemente's murder has made the headlines.  Vero sits in her office and reads how Aarón murdered his own brother in cold blood.  Emi asks her if she's okay.  "How can I be?  I have his blood.  I'm a murderer's daughter."

Avances:
Virginia has an attack of the vapors (or perhaps something more serious).

Marty has an attack of the jealous crazies.

Thank you NovelaMaven for a splendid recap filled with lots of snark and great lines.

Some of my favorite lines were,

"Instead of pulling out her phone and summoning help, Vero is screaming like a banshee"

"Dear Abby, My best friend is dating my mom..."

"Note to self: pack own portable defibrillator for next trip to Mexico."

"Why? Is his stupid 'stache cutting off the circulation to his brain?"

"I'm betting he didn't dump those like the contents of his car's ashtray."

"Um, that is who she is, Jorge"

Now the episode...

Wow, I wasn't expecting for Alfredo to be the one to be sent flying. I agree - what WAS he doing there? Power walking to Marty's place?

Poor Alfredo. It was sad to see him go - and so fast since he was cremated and his ashes dumped all in the course of a few hours. And yes, as always lots of time wasted on the screaming and crying over the unconscious body of someone instead of getting help immediately. Also, wouldn't the police have come to the scene? It was a hit and run after all.

Vero was stupid to have confronted Virginia like that and let her know what she is planning doing and what is worse is that she let Virginia know that Mati had talked and had confirmed that Virginia had pushed her down the stairs. I agree that Vero might as well killed Mati herself.

So we've had two deaths in two episodes back to back. Will we have to start a body count? So far we have Dim, Ireri's dad, Clemente, and now Alfredo.

I hate that AP was locked up in a cave jail. Someone please save her.

Pierre's really fickle, no? Now he's saying that Vero stole his heart a long time ago. What the...

Now Claudia's after Marty too. Oh no... and then there's also Nanci who is still pinning after him.. sigh..

Muchas Gracias, Novela Maven, for a brilliant recap!

Yes, nobody ordered Alfredo Sauce, but it was there anyway. I don't understand why he was there, but leave it to TN coincidence.

Loved the screen cap: "Hold on! You forgot the beer!"

Also loved all of the ones Mauricio mentioned so I won't repeat them.

Your comment about the writers possibly mixing up the "Vs" in the dialog was spot on, and I'm so glad Verónica is getting some spunk. However, she follows that up with stupidly telling it all to Virginia re: Matilde's stream of consciousness, and that's, yes, as good as killing Matilde herself.

Ana Perla locked up in that cave cell is horrible! She does not look good so she needs to get out soon. I hope Joaquin can knock OG out and incapacitate Manny and do something about this nauseating storyline.

Well, with only two weeks left, the body count is sure to rise and soon.

Thanks NovelaMaven for the recap.

I can't believe they would kill off Alfredo. I liked how he gave good advice to Martin. So sad to see him go and they way Martin cried for him made me a lil teary. The medic came just when he died!! What was he doing all that time.

So Vero is giving Martin a trial. I am happy about that. Looks like Claudia is coming to spoil it for them. I am tired of Claudia going after Martin. Give it up!!!

Not nice to see Ana P in that cell especially pregnant.

Aaron is also certain to do a prison break!!

Oops! Inserted a space in your name, NovelaMaven. Sorry!

Yikes! Alfredo Sauce!!!!! que cinica eres, NovelaMaven! But funny, oh so funny. Yeah, I totally hate the way everyone has hysterics for 10 or 15 minutes, usually while tossing around the poor victim, yelling "Aguanta, aguanta. (or even better, respiras, respiras!) usually snapping a few vertebrae in the process. The only thing I hate more is men crying, crying and crying. And crying some more.

You were in peak form today, I must say. '(note to self: pack own portable defibrillator for next trip to Mexico.)

Claudio who? Pierre who" Alfredo who?

And now that Veronica has blabbed the crucial news that Matilde can speak, I'm sure we'll soon be saying Matilde who"

Loved "holding a hand over the place where her heart would be if she had one" but the absolute, indisputable best was:

LLAMADA DEL SANGRÓN totally perfect and funny...like the whole recap. Thanks Novela.

Alfredo was a good friend and I also liked the advice that he would give Marty. Too bad he never listened to him. With Alfredo gone who will be left in charge of the San Telmo offices while Marty is off dealing with his own personal affairs. Pablo? Oh no!

I agree about Aaron. For sure he will be out and about to terrorize Vero and Magda. When he was wondering who could help him it came to my mind that perhaps Virginia will help and join forces with him.

Ooh and I loved the headline "The New Cain" in the newspaper. Aaron should be proud of himself - he made front page.

Wonderful recap but must admit, after reading how Vero doesn't want the divorce anymore, I think I might quit this show. I'm so tired of the two of them.

Silly me NovelaMaven. I have been reading your recaps and enjoying them IMMENSELY-- today was no different and then it hit me. I wasn't sure of the meaning of Maven and so off to Wikipedia. WOW! Your chosen name and title says it all. No wonder that I like your recaps soooo much. (A trusted expert in a particular field who seeks to pass knowledge on to others.)

Note to self, brought a morning chuckle. Pack your own portable defibrillator.

In the executive suite, the V-girls give each other the business. That was a riot NM
They were giving each other the business but it wasn't Prado Castelo business.

Not smart of Vero to tell the snake that Mati is now talking. Can she be guarded 24 hours a day?

V-snake about to give away confidential Prado Castelo information. Is there anything
that Virginia won't do?

OMG! Ana Perla locked up in a cave. Pablo get to Mina Escondida muy pronto.

We need some more comic relief. Bring back the guy that was hitting on Claudia. Wait till the Claw come out ready for her show all dressed up. He'll go crazy.

It's a no miss---must see tv.
the gringo

Carvivlie---QUIT THE SHOW??? I wouldn't quit the show for all the tea in China.

Aaron and V-snake? Mauricio, you may be on to something. Those two belong together.

the gringo

NovellaMavon, lively and lovely recap. My heart went out to marty, its like he was looseing his brother all over again, his crying was so real. Veronuca's gotta keep her word
Start over. I hope it works. Its good hes going back to the green hell, he'll have to help rescue AP from cave Jail. Speaking of... ana perla is visibly sick,
Looks like s fever. Ol goat and manuel has an
A$$ kickin comin. Raymond Raymond Raymunda Raymund Raymund, have I said I
Don't like this woman? Shes a bad bad momma. Polo ask "what are they going to do to ana perla and her baby"? And that stupid
Woman says "nothing bad" Really? You stupid, stupid woman. I wish not to speak of
The goat family again, I probably wil but no,
Not right now.
I hope that Martin will order a painting for Veronica's surprised because Pablo really needs the money he's about to become a Papa. Ana p needs a hero, HURRY!!!!!!

One L, I'll remeber that. Nove L aMaven

Thank you so much for the amazing recap! This is my second attempt to comment, so hope it works this time. First a big thank you to ALL the recappers. I keep finding myself only able to watch and read on the weekends, and by then, most of the discussion seems over, but I am so grateful to you all!

I thought that Alfredo pushed Marty out of harms way. Why he was there (plot device?) was a mystery, but I thought he gave his life for his friend. I also thought no way he could have really done that, I think the car was going so fast they both should have died, but this is a novela. I was sure this was going to be the part where Marty was hospitalized and Vero realized she couldn't live without him, but I was wrong!

Mari-- really? Only two weeks left? I fear I am probably the only one besides Gringo who is sorry to hear that. That is a lot of loose ends to wrap up in a very short time!

I love Joaquin and hope he kicks some Goat butt tonight. I don't care what Raymunda does. He deserves the nice teacher (you know the one who's folks DON'T LIVE ANYWHERE NEARBY) and should move to the city so his daughter can be a nurse and he can be away from the insanity that is the Green Hell.

OG and Manuel need to go! I want AP found tonight and rescued! I fear her sickness has more to do with Manuel's tea than a cold. I do love how, in TN's, the young couple is always ELATED to find they're pregnant before marriage.

Vero needs to watch more TN's. If she did she would NEVER have told Vsnake about Mati's recovery. I really hope Ginny doesn't snuff her out on Magda's watch. I've never seen a TN (not that I've seen THAT many) without an attempted pillow snuffing so I expect that in the next few days.

Thank you again to ALL the amazing recappers!!!
Rebecca

Rebecca - I think I may be wrong about it being the last two weeks. I read on Twitter that it was the last two weeks, but it could be on another channel, not Univision. Sorry! Like you, I don't want it to end. I've enjoyed it all along and still do.

Meant to add you too, Gringo, in the group that will be sad to see this one end.

I think it is ending in two weeks in Mexico. But I think we are only 3 or 4 weeks behind so, 6 weeks left?

Hi everyone,

Lo Imperdonable will end in Mexico in two weeks - October 4th - with a total of about 121 or 122 episodes (including a two hour finale).

In the USA we have a few more weeks left. We are 20 episodes behind Mex. [We should be entering Ultimas Semanas soon, probably the end of this week or next]

I'll also miss Lo Imperdonable a lot when it ends. It has been a nice ride and I have loved recapping and discussing it on The Patio. The novela may drive me crazy at times but usually those are the ones that I enjoy the most.

Nina,

Count me in as someone who dislikes Raymunda. As a woman she should be protecting her niece and not allowing this kind of a abuse. Hopefully, Joaquin will do something when he finds out what is going on with Ana Perla.

Rebecca,

Yes. Alfredo pushed Marty out of harms way and gave his life for his friend. He died a hero. I also thought that Marty would be the one hit and we would have him at the hospital with Vero at his bedside. But the writers had something else planned -- something unexpected.

Thanks, Carvivlie, and Mauricio for clearing up the finale time. Sorry!

Yes, it has been a nice ride, Mauricio:)

Thanks another incredible recap, NovelaMaven. Who else would have turned Alfredo's demise into such a hilarious farce?

"I'm betting he didn't dump those like the contents of his car's ashtray."

Since you're already frolicking on the dark side, how about joining us here at The Virginia Table for a tall refreshing drink? As you noted:

"Virginia isn't one to dwell on the negative."

I especially enjoyed the bickering between the V Sisters in this episode. They must have been a barrel of laughs as darling little girls.

gringo,

"Bring back the guy that was hitting on Claudia."

I'm with you on this. Right now I think that curvy Claudia and rotund Ramón are our most interesting and entertaining couple.

Carlos

Thank you for all the wonderful comments today, folks. I'm delighted that you liked the recap.

If you don't know me too well, you might think my merciless send-up of the novela means I'm not enjoying it, but nothing could be further from the truth. I'm right there with the gringo, mari and Mauricio, cheering this thing on. The more over-the-top the better. I mean, otherwise, why even bother to watch telenovelas? There is something about the whole package: they are absurd and impossible but at times emotionally quite powerful.

I'm working on a theory though: when the writing is truly over-the-top, the acting can't be or a tragic moment turns into a parody of itself. (I think it's like those fashion rules that tell you a dress can have either a sexy, low-cut top and a serious skirt or a tiny skirt and a modest top; if you go with both, you look like... well, Claudia, say.)

Now self-parodying moments can be lots of fun, but they do tend to lose their emotional impact, at least for me.

So about that drink, Carlos –

Ay, NovelaMaven! Such a rich recap, studded with nuggets of snark! The sub-heads were gems in and of themselves. Loved all our characters who got the snub of a "who?" following their names.

Marty gave Ana Perla a run for her money in the crying and sobbing department, although Alfredo (sauce) deserved some kind of tribute for his sacrifice.

"The perennially choleric Old Goat" is the perfect phrase for our goatish grandpa.

Worried for the well-being of Ana Perla and Mati. And Vero, now that Aaron is still plotting.

NovelaMaven,
I am just getting to read your recap. So far it's great, thank you!

All I can say is that I want Gramps and Manny to SUFFER big time!

And OMG, shut up Vero. Don't give info to the enemy. Someone needs to be with Mati 24/7, and no bathroom breaks!

Excellent acting last night with Alfredo's passing. I liked him and am sad to see him go.

Back to the recap.
Hasta Pronto!

Count me in as a person who is enjoying this novela. Can't wait for tonight! You guys are minutes away. I have to wait a few hours.

Me too I am loving the novel only becos of Vero and Martin. The best couple ever!!!
I hope they win an award because they deserve it. I will be sad to see it end.

Thank you Novelamaven your recap made me laugh. Loved your "Alfredo sauce wasn't on the menu". Loved it.

Where the heck did Alfedo come from, was he beamed down from outer space!

It appeared he died and was cremated on the same day. I am still scratching my head with that. No police investigation or autopsy?

M

NovelaMaven, I'm still giggling over your title!! The whole recap—oh my gosh, you're so good when you're bad!

Like others, I'm struck with the the rapidity of Alfredo's cremation. Cooked Alfredo sauce delivered as fast as a Domino's pizza!

I am bummed about Alfredo though. He seemed like the best husband material in this show. Too bad I can't think of a girl that would have been good for him. Guess that's why he was expendable.

Aarón kills his brother and he gets to make social calls on the prison phone the next day?

Barbara

I'm wondering if this is the beginning of the episodes that were changed/rewritten to increase ratings in Mexico... I have a feeling a lot more people are going to die before this show is over. :/
