Another slap-dash job. Some combining.
Isa calls Ric a naco. She doesn’t like anything about him how he eats and disses the tiger bed linens. If he wants to be on the same level as Antonio, Ric would have to be born again. She runs up to her apartment. She can’t believe she broke up with him. Downstairs, Ric swears vengeance.
Natalia offers congrats and support to Isa for breaking up with Ric. Isa can’t believe she fell so low (as to sleep with Ric.)
Nelson fiddles with the sensor program. He can keep up with it from his own computer now.
Atila goes back to the box and talks to the camera. He’s sorry for getting into the box and taking the action figure. He realizes he left it at home. He goes back to get it. He decides to bring the box with him. Those are some pretty long lasting batteries in that camera.
Antonio tells Sebas he had a nice time visiting Isa and yes, they are still getting married. They are still getting married because Isa is the person he should marry. Sebas kind of wishes his friend had mentioned passion, but that would be like asking for peras al olmo (pears from an elm tree.) Anto tells Sebas about Ric coming to see Nat. Anto also tells Sebas about Ric’s remark that Sebas’s hickeys. Sebas calls Nat and gives her a hard time about Ric coming to see her. Nat gets angry and she should...it’s not her fault if Ric is coming to see her. Nat hangs up with Sebas. She then tells Isa that she’s tired of catching flak about Rick. Isa swears it won’t happen again.
Rick is still thinking about Isa’s insults. He’s still swearing she’ll pay. David comes in for his daily kicking, but Rick only tells him to get out. Pedro calls Rick. They’ve tampered with the sensors and lots o’ gas has been stolen. Ric will be well paid. Ric decides to focus on this project for a bit and desquitar(get even with) Isa later.
Edwina orders a new globo. She’s not giving up.
Atila has taken the box home. He talks to the camera. He can’t find the figure, but if they come and help him, he’s sure they’ll find it.
Sebas takes Titina to the same restaurant they always go to. She whines about it. Sebas talks about his job in all kinds of technical and boring detail. Titina thinks it sounds really important as uses it as a segway to find out about his salary, finances and homeownership ( I practically heard the “ka-ching” when he said he owned a depa in the DF.)
Sara and Anto meet in the hallway and chit chat. She tells him that Cheo is staying at home in Progreso and worrying about OVNIs. Anto invites her to his place to tell him all about the OVNI sighting.
Cigala finds Atila outside looking up at the sky. He is frightened and it worries her. He finally says he needs to tell her something.
Theme song. Spicy garlic shrimp and kimchi.
Atila shows his parents the box. Dad is pretty sure it’s not from aliens...since the GPS has “made in China” on it. It looks like Atila turns it on before he puts it away.
Sara tells Anto all about the OVNI sighting. They laugh. She notices the luggage and he tells her about his visit to see Isa. Sara tries to go, but Anto is all “No. Please don’t go. I want to keep talking to you, even if it’s only about the weather.” Dude. Just...grrrr. I’m not liking him right now. Stop messing with Sara’s feelings. Sara isn’t much better. She’s all “OK. I’ll make coffee.” Both of them need to stop.
Bruno and Simon have lines about the Ag Association they are forming. The local Ags will meet with Bruno and Simon later to discuss and sign stuff. The local papers are full of OVNI articles. Simon gets annoyed. Damn yellow journalism.
Edwina checks the GPS one last time. Yay! The box is located. She calls Vlad with the good news.
Titina tells her friend that she is determined to marry Sebas. Sebas is her ticket out of her home that is dominated by male chauvinists. He friend reminds Titina that Sebas has a girlfriend. Titina will take care of that.
Sebas reports to Anto that Operation Bore Titina is not working. In fact, Sebas is boring himself! Anto advises Sebas to break up with Ti ASAP. Otherwise, Rick will get the upper hand and end up with Nat. If Sebas ends up with anyone at the end of this I will be annoyed...although, his ending up with Ti might be justice. Marina interrupts this conversation to ask Anto to come see an email that just arrived.
Titina calls Nat. She feels it her duty to let Nat know about what her boyfriend, Sebastian is doing in San Gaspar. Titina’s mother overhears “your boyfriend Sebastian” and startles Titina. Titina drops her phone in the mop bucket. Titina makes excuses to her mother. Titina was not talking about her “Chebi. “ Titina leaves to see if she can get her phone fixed.
Anto has the email. He doesn’t really trust anonymous notes (Ha! Me neither, dude! 9 times outta 10 it’s just a jerk behind them.) We still don’t know what the Anon said.
Fidel fusses at Quintin for flapping his gums to the reporter about the OVNIs. Anton calls. Ah! So the anon was reporting the location of one of the clandestine valves.
Nat calls Isa in a swivet. Some chick just called me and said she had info about Sebas! Nat wants to call Sebas, but Isa advises against it. Sebas will just deny any wrongdoing. Isa tells her to keep calling the number back. Eventually the person will pick up.
Ric is the one sending the Anon emails about the clandestine valves. (What did I tell you!? 9 times outta 10….) All Ric needs to do is decide how often to give away the valve locations without arousing Pedro’s suspicions.
Juancho wants to get some new computer program. Simon doesn’t have the money for it. Bruno shows Juancho the article about OVNIs. Simon has a fit. How dare this reporter turn something as important as space into a circus!!
Titina’s mother is really worried. The Three Bear Brothers worry about what's bothering her. She explains that she’s afraid Sebas is playing Titina. Mama wasn’t convinced by Titina’s story that is was some other Sebas. The brothers don’t want to see their mother upset. They offer to find out the truth from Sebas...and to choose Titina. Arnold doesn’t look so convinced.
Edwina, Vlad and Magda discuss the balloon and box. SDdlP is pretty far away and there are only rural roads leading to it. Edwina will keep monitoring the GPS. If it hasn’t moved, they will go get it tomorrow.
Anto reports to Fidel that there is a duct in Texintla. They’ve just started an outreach there. Fidel plans to check it out. Anto wants to come, but Fidel tells him not to. Sebas thinks Fidel is right.
Sara talks to Cheo about the OVNIs. He’s still afraid and tells her about the newspaper article with pictures. She suggests they spend an evening watching the skies for OVNis. He turns down the invitation. Pedro shows up and she hangs up. She offers him totopos con guacamole(basically nachos...crisp tortillas.) He asks about business. She lies and says it’s going ok. He sees through it. She admits things are a little slow. He offers her support (so she can dig herself into a deeper hole.) She gushes and thanks him. The most important thing here is that Pedro is there for a business meeting and this is also where Simon and Bruno have decided to have the Ag Association founders meeting. Lots of stink eye and veiled threats.
Lazlo is going to San Gaspar. Atila wants to go and see Padre V. They’ll get up early in the morning and leave.
Titina’s phone is ruined and she can’t recover the contacts.
Nat is making reservations to go to San Gaspar when she gets an email. She needs to go oversee a project in Monterrey.
The Bear Bros invite Sebas to watch the Pachuca vs Veracruz match. Sebas is happy to accept. Anto wonders if that’s a good idea. Sebas thinks it’s the perfect opportunity to convince the bros that he’s a terrible match for Titina.
Arnold decides he needs to warn Sebas.
Quinitn wants to borrow Fidel’s camera for taking pictures of OVNIs. Fidel says Quintin is free to waste time looking for OVNIs. In fact, if Q gets a picture of one, Fidel will give him a day off.
Nelson overhears Marina and Rafa talking about the anon email. He calls Pedro immediately to tell him that the police are on their way to Texintla. Pedro cuts short his business meeting/stink-eye session/vague threat making in order to yell at Anselmo. Call the crew in Texintla and tell them to get out of there!
Natalia calls Sebs to tell him she’ll be in Monterrey. He tells her to watch out for the regiomontanos. She says she’ll behave just as he is in San Gaspar. Everything he can do, she can do better. Sebas is dense and does not seem to get her hints. Actually, I think he did. He tells Anto that Nat was acting oddly. If Ric had said something, she would have come right out with it. but she did sound sort of doubtful and unsure.
Arnold calls Sebas. Arnold tells Sebas about the mom overhearing Titina talking to some girl “Natalia” about “Sebastian.” Then Arnold warns him about the trap the other brothers are setting. Sebas finally worries about how stupid it was to get involved with Titina.
The police find an abandoned container of gasoline. Fidel reports it to Anto. Anto thinks this is good. The people of the community are cooperating.
FIN
Wow Isa finally told Ric what she really thinks - is it weird that while watching this I was thinking comportment classes for Ric? I'm sure he won't go there, he's just going to try to get her back/get revenge, but maybe a few classes could get rid of all the little things she doesn't like about him.
I mean they actually have a lot in common and make a good couple, and her problems with him are actually quite minor, some table manners and a good decorator and he's set.
Oh well just me and my rose colored glasses wanting a happy ending for everyone (except Pedro, he can rot)
Such a beautiful song
And perfect for Edwina
But what was up with that clear plastic dress? rain duster?
weird and distracting
Dammit, Nelson! Why did he have to warn Pedro? Nelson finding out about the anon email was totally by accident. Not something Pedro could have blamed him for not knowing. Just let the cops pick up some of Pedro's guys and destroy his gang bit by bit. Bah!
I even felt bad for Rick for a bit. Isa was harsh! Sneaky, you are not alone. I was rooting for Rick and Isa early on-- if only to get Isa out of Tonio's hair. She was happy enough with Rick, until she got all obsessive and he got all violent and creepy.
Will Edwina and Vlad be headed to San D when Atila and Lazlo are headed to San G?
Vivi, your "dammit Nelson!" cracked me up!
OMG, I can't believe she dissed the tiger! It's, like, SO OVER! At least, I hope so.
Damn, Titina really is playing for keeps. When Mr. 5ft talks about technical stuff at work, my eyes glaze over. Am I supposed to be saying it's fascinating and he sounds so important? 'Cause I can try that....
"Anto invites her to his place to tell him all about the OVNI sighting." Dirty ;) I wish.
"Theme song. Spicy garlic shrimp and kimchi." Good one!
"Anto has the email. He doesn’t really trust anonymous notes (Ha! Me neither, dude! 9 times outta 10 it’s just a jerk behind them.)" True! *snort* Yeah, it would be Ric. What is this, his scheme to keep Pedro happy, but keep Antonio in SG?
"Titina’s phone is ruined and she can’t recover the contacts." I laughed and laughed...couldn't have happened to a nicer person.
So Pedro's guys had to leave their hard-stolen gasoline behind? Aww...too bad, so sad.
Lol, sneaky, I agree...if Ric would just quit picking his teeth, he and Isa would be perfect for each other. He could make up some fake rich relatives and dazzle her parents with his current wealth, assuming Pedro doesn't kill him first, and they can go off and live happily somewhere far, far away from Sara and Antonio.
Vivi, that's a good point. Nelson would be better off accidentally on purpose not telling Pedro enough to keep him ahead of the cops.
Just settling in to watch today's episode. I'm kind of bummed it sounds like Ed/Vlad and Laz/Atila are going to miss each other. I'd like to see what the two boys are like hanging out together.
Part 1:
Antonio speaks with Fidel about the clandestine valve for stealing gas that they found, along with the container of stolen gas the thieves abandoned. Tonio calls a press conference and announces the find, praising the community for being vigilant and reporting the thieves. He announces that this is the beginning of the fall for the criminals. People power is more powerful than criminal power!
Rick watches the press conference with Urribe in D.F. and grimaces about Tonio’s victory, despite being the one who provided it. Pedro also watches angrily, and declares to Anselmo that one valve of the MANY he has, means NOTHING!
A happy, smiling Isa calls Antonio as he arrives home, to congratulate him. She reports that she made up with the art gallery owner, and the prep for her exhibit is back on track. (I’m bummed by how happy and in sync they both seem—like when the tn started.) They send each other kisses before hanging up. (Blech! Hey, what about Sara?!) Right on cue, Sara rings the doorbell. “Congratulations!!” She has a celebratory bottle of apple cider in hand, and her wide, brilliant smile is only equaled by Antonio’s. They can’t stop grinning as they sit and share a toast. They wonder about the nature of their current and future relationship, unsure if they are friends, but admitting that they could never see the other as a stranger. They agree to be friends at least while Antonio is in San G. “Then you’ll marry Cheo/Isabel, and we’ll never see each other again.” Sara starts to cry at this sad thought. They say they’ll never forget each other, and Antonio jokes that considering all the bad/crazy stuff that’s happened to him with Sara, there’s NO WAY he could forget her. They share a laugh, and Antonio tenderly wipes away Sara’s tears.
Sebas calls Titina’s mom, since he can’t reach her, and arranges to meet her at their usual restaurant before his appointed meeting with her brothers at 7. As soon as she arrives, he tells her it’s over! “Se acabó!” He tells her about the trap her brothers have laid for him because of her call to Natalia. She claims she HAD to call Natalia since he couldn’t make up his mind. He reminds her that Nat was always his girlfriend, and he and Titi agreed to no strings attached. She screeches and clings to him. He calls her crazy and tries to leave. She begins to beg him not to leave her, then falls into a (fake) faint. Sebas has no choice but to take her home to her waiting brothers. She makes up an excuse that her blood pressure fell due to school stress, when the bros menace Chebi for being responsible. Then Sebas has to go along with Titi’s lie about ANOTHER Sebas and some girl named Natalia from school. Nope, he does NOT have a novia in D.F. No siree! Titi relishes Chebi’s discomfort under the muscle-bound gazes of her brothers. She calms them by saying, “Chebi respects me and doesn’t want to lose me.” Sebas gulps.
The next morning, Edwina calls Magda to tell her the trip to San D won’t be happening because the GPS is on the move! Magda relays the news to Vlad, and they wait for Fidel to be done warbling in the shower and head off to work, before calling Ed back to put Project Retrieve Balloon (and Action Figure) into action.
Titi meets with her BFF and tells her she’ll keep the heat on Chebi by making him think she still has Natalia’s contact info and can rat him out at any moment.
Sebas tells Tonio his version of events, and calls Titi the most cunning woman he has ever met. “La más mañosa de las mañosas.” Sebas has a new plan. He wants Tonio to badmouth him to Titi’s bros, after they all get good and drunk, so that THEY’LL decide he isn’t a good match for their sister. Tonio doesn’t look convinced this plan will work, but agree. Sebas calls the bros to meet for drinks.
Sara makes breakfast and tells Bruno about her talk with Tonio about their “friendship.” Bruno is incredulous and says that she and Antonio don’t even believe that lie. Sara gets upset, so Bruno asks, “What do you want me to tell you? What you want to hear, or what I think?”
Pedro checks in with Rick. Rick swears that when the news got to D.F. about the valve, the police were already there. Pedro says he’ll let Tonio feel like he’s won this battle, but he won’t win the war.
Edwina, Vlad, and Magda track the progress of the GPS. They realize the GPS may be headed to San Gaspar! “Cross your fingers!” (Ponga de changitos.)
Antonio decides to put some people on a project to review and report on the sensors in the most remote regions. He calls in Pepe, Ramon, Nelson for the job. Nelson gets all jumpy and nervous, and starts to babble about three people being too many for the job and that he can do it on his own. They all look at him like he’s nuts, and wonder if he’s just trying to kiss butt. Plus, Ramon is the expert on the vales and will be in charge. Pepe and Nelson are support. They’ll check the sensors in groups of 8.
Lazlo and Atila arrive in San Gaspar, and first stop at Nachito’s for drinks and sandwiches to go. Nacho is as friendly as ever, especially when he finds out Atila is the famous kid who caught the gas thieves and that Lazlo will now be working for Conatrol. He rushes them along to Conatrol before the office Lazlo needs closes, and Atila forgets the balloon gondola/cooler under the table. He doesn’t remember it until he and Lazlo have gone quite a ways in the taxi. Just enough time for Ed, Vlad, and Magda to track the signal and retrieve it, and for a nearby table of two men dressed all in black and sunglasses to also pay for their meals and go.
Nelson remembers Pedro’s veiled threats to his family and frets and sweats. Pepe tells him to chill out.
Atila and Lazlo return and Atila is sure the aliens came back and retrieved the box. Nacho wants to hear all about it and begins to speak about the UFOs. Lazlo has also seen lights in the night sky on many occasions, flitting between the mountains. He has always thought they were the souls of the recently departed dancing and playing before they go to heaven. Nacho tells him that they were in fact sightings of UFOs (avistamientos de ONVIs). He further theorizes that there are aliens amongst us, taking human form. When Leila mentions that the only other people around were the Men in Black at the next table, Nacho’s point is proven. The Men in Black are special agents who erase all proof of extraterrestrials, and they came to get the package!
Vlad is happy they have the gondola and balloon back, but not happy they took his robot. He, Ed and Magda review the video of the journey of the balloon. It’s very cool. Ed estimates that the balloon went up 20 meters before it burst. Next time they’ll put a device to measure the altitude, AND Vlad’s name and address.
The reporter comes to town to investigate the ONVIs and meets with Quintin. Fidel is not pleased. Quintin gives him names of people to speak with. His first stop is Nacho.
Atila and Lazlo meet with Antonio to discuss Lazlo’s work. Atila reminds Tonio about his promise to build a new school in San D.
Sebas calls Titi and tells her he’s hanging out with her bros tonight and won’t see her--suck it up. Then he calls Nati, who doesn’t pick up. He has a sad. I don’t care.
Tonio visits Sara at the restaurant and asks for her help with the Sebas situation. Sara agrees to the plan, which we don’t hear, to help Sebas look like a jerk in front of Titi’s brothers. She and Tonio are adorable as they giggle about the plan.
-End of episode.
and thanks for ponga de changitos - I had no idea what that meant
---
- me when Nacho is telling Atila and Lazlo about OVNIs and men in black - haaahahahahahaha snort men in black snerk hahahahaha
yeah I loved that part
-----
ProtaSara's look to Bruno when he asked her if she wanted her to tell her what she wanted to hear or what he really thought was a marvel, all rueful and sad and caring, Esmeralda is nailing it.
---
I think we all are going to enjoy the muddying of Sebas' good name as much as ProtaSara, he deserves it.
Kat- I was sad too that the boys didn't meet, but Atila still has the action figure (somewhere under his bed), and I'm sure he'll have to get it back to Vlad at some point.
And you are right, Laslo's theory was much better. I like Laslo. I'm glad that they are still including the SDdlP people in the story.
Nelson "frets and sweats". I don't blame him...but it's time for him to come clean and be a double agent!
Totally with you on Sebas. Whatever, dude.
Sneaky-"Esmeralda is nailing it" WORD!!! I am loving her in this.
I too hope they continue to weave the San Dionisio folks into the plot. I like them a lot.
Operation QuitaTitina
Mainly highlights today. Mainly out of order. I’m not feeling very coherent today.
Sara is all in. She’ll do what needs to be done to help Sebas convince the brothers that he’s a scumbag.
Arnold overhears Titina talking on the phone with a girlfriend. They are planning to surprise the boys at the bar. Arnold rats her out to apá.
Nelson, Ramon and Pepe talk about checking the sensors. I think Nelson stalls for more time. In a later scene, Pepe tells Nelson to spill it. Something is going on. All Nelson says is “if you only knew.” C’mon Nelson! Pepe, Anto...everyone will want to help protect you!!!
Sara decides to wear the same purple dress from the Lost Weekend, sparking memories through most of the episode. Ugh. Why can’t these two be together? I love watching them.
Natalia makes Isa listen to Sebas’s message. Nat is so touched. Isa thinks Sebas is being extra attentive because he’s guilty...just like Nat said about Anto when he was with Sara. Nat gets worried and calls Sebas.
Sebas is with Titina’s brothers and ignores the call. Sebas orders a round of tequila. The brothers want to order perros salados (Salty Dogs), but Sebas insists they get straight tequila shots derecho. Sebas orders the drinks and tears a bill in half. He tells the waiter that if his “cuñados” think that the service was good, the waiter can have the other half when they leave. Sebas excuses himself to go to the bathroom. He calls Nat.
Back at the table, the “cuñados” are starting to think Sebas is a jerk. Who wastes 500 pesos on a tip?
After talking to Nat, Sebas finds the waiter and talks to him in private. Here’s the rest of the money. When my other friends arrive, only serve them water.
Sara drives Anto to the bar. On the way, some random guys catcall to her. Anto takes offense. More flashbacks. They almost kiss, but a jerky jeep snaps them out of it. Sara sighs (me Sara...and ProtaSara.) See above: Ugh? Why can’t these two be together?
The reporter is still working on the OVNI story. He needs the password to get onto the wireless network(?) Quinitin gives it to him. Probably unimportant, but I’m noting it anyway. Quintin wants the reporter to spend the evening looking for OVNIs with him. Quinitin even offers to let the reporter stay at his house.
Sebas is loud and obnoxious.
Theme song. Smoked oysters and stinky cheese.
Isa has a flashback and a craving for Rick, but she has to stay clean. She tries getting in touch with Anto, but he doesn’t pick up.
Anto and Sara show up. She plays the quasi-easy townie. Anto gets handsy..and kisses her! She kisses him back. Sebas invites them all to sit. Anto and Sara tell each other not to overdo things.
Magda and Fidel talk about the OVNI sightings. Fidel is annoyed that the reporter is stirring things up. He hopes the people will forget and the reporter will move on. Magda wants to know what Fidel thinks about it all. If it was a natural phenomenon he would want people to know, but if it was some joke that a person played...well, Fidel would lock them up. Magda looks a little worried.
Sebas, Anto and Sara are still obnoxious. Sebas says something about the love of his life. Sara tells some story about a guy who had a fling with her “sister”. It lasted six months and the sister was left with a memory that is 6 years old and named Juan Dieguito. Har har. Drink!
Magda calls Edwina. Edwina thinks there’s nothing to worry about. The people of San Gaspar with forget about the OVNI.
Quintin sets up stuff to look for OVNIs and film the sky.
Across town, Simon does the same. He’s trying to prove the reporter wrong.
Sara and Anto dance and reminisce. They’re killing me.
Sebas heads for the bathroom again. JDC does a pretty passable country accent. I didn’t even pay attention to the words I was so fascinated by the rhythm. Sara makes up some story about Anto and Sebas making a bet about who could catch a San Gasparino Girl first. Sebas won. Sara describes Titina and then she imitates the way she says “Chebi” …..and Antonio mouths the “Chebi” right along with her...so funny! I’m going to rewind and watch that again...hang on….
Ok. I’m back. Titian’s brothers practically overturn the table and Sara screams. They head for the bathroom to beat up Sebas. Anto calls and warns him. Sebas tries to make an escape out the window. Sara and Anto arrive outside and the brothers are inside. Sebas finally gets out the window, but without his pants.
The owner of the bar wants the brothers to pay up for the broken glasses.
Sebas, Anto and Sara go home. They arrive about the same time as Simon, Juancho and Bruno. Simon is not happy to see how Sara is dressed or that she smells like booze.
The local paper has a big write up about the men in black at Nacho’s. Atila and Lazlo are mentioned by name. Nacho is telling a crowd about the box that was left, but taken away without anyone knowing. Padre V comes to talk to Nacho about the newspaper article. Umm. RPC? Nacho is getting some great business out of the article? Padre V thinks it will damage Nacho’s reputation?
Simon, Juancho and Bruno all think Sara has a hangover(?) Simon gives Sara a talking to. Sara denies she was drinking. A drink spilled on her. She happily admits she was dressed like a cualquiera. She explains they were trying to make Sebas look bad. I don’t think Simon liked her pretending to be Anto’s honey. Sara can’t ignore Anto and act like he doesn’t exist.
Anto calls Chepe to make sure the coast is clear before he and Sebas leave the building
Chepe spent most of the night watching the sky, so his neck hurts. It’s too bad they don’t make periscopy things to look at OVNIs. Juancho seems to get an idea and runs upstairs. He asks Sara for money. He needs to buy a few things. Sara loans him money. He goes back down to Bruno and Simon and asks them to drop him off in the “centro.” They aren’t going there, so Juancho will go by himself.
Titina’s brothers spent the night in jail. Apá is not happy about that. They throw the blame on Chebi. Apá tells Titina she can’t see Chebi any more.
Edwina refuses to give up her globo dreams. She’s ordered 20 more! They are in her bedroom...just in case Fidel came by. Vlad is excited. Magda looks so worried.
Titina whines about not getting to see Chebi.
The brothers decide Chebi needs some payback.
I laughed so hard during the bathroom/window escape/lost shoes and pants scene. :)
Favorite line:
"They almost kiss, but a jerky jeep snaps them out of it. Sara sighs (me Sara...and ProtaSara.) See above: Ugh? Why can’t these two be together?" Ha ha. I'm so with you there.
I'm loving this novela, so cute. Esmeralda is so pretty & has a different look about her.
Juan Dieguito (funny) is doing a super job.
This and Lichita are my favorite light shows right now. Señora Acero is my favorite "heavy" show.
Full disclosure: I just got caught up on watching, but I'm behind on reading. Sorry! I'll make some time this weekend. In the meantime…will today be the day I finally manage to summarize? Let's find out.
The new weather balloons are in. Vlad and Edwina are giddy, but Magda is sweating!
Titina and Chebi are OVER. For everyone except Titina. And the brothers. They want a little revenge on her behalf.
In the Control Room, Pepe and Ramon talk about Nelson's enthusiasm for helping with the monitoring. And his pockets full of cash. Nelson shows up having bought them all tacos and Pepe and Ramon exchange a look. Ramon tells him to cool it…he can help with monitoring if he wants to, and if he wants a good word put in with Antonio, Ramon will talk him up.
Quintin was up all night watching for UFOs while the reporter, Patricio, slept. He nods off while Fidel is trying to explain this Sunday's fútbol strategy. Fidel thinks Patricio is taking advantage of Quintin.
Patricio is, at the very least, a crappy reporter. He really thought that buttering Simon up, and then dissing him by saying his "rocket" article barely sold anything because nobody cares was going to get him an interview? Fail!
Sara calls Juancho and chews him out for not being at the orchard this morning. There's also something about him needing to account for every penny. This may or may not be related to the garbage bag full of stuff he has with him when he walks out of the apartment. I feel like I'm missing something here.
Titina's brothers show up at the plant. Sebastian was going to avoid them, but ends up saying he'll talk to them. At the gate. With them on the other side. Antonio declines his generous offer as his supply of "solidarity" ran out last night at the bar!
Isa can't paint. She misses Ric. Or the tiger. Or both. There's a distracting rip at the top of her canvas where light shines through. She calls…her psychiatrist! Hooray for personal growth! He tells her to stay strong, distract herself, think if something other than Ric.
At the gate, Sebastian acts all blasé about what happened last night, and oh, Titina can't see him anymore? OK! When he gets too close to the gate, they pull his arm through, rip off his shirt sleeve and send him running back towards the plant. The brother who liked Sebas best keeps ripping up the sleeve, and I swear he even bites it! All the while they're shouting at him that he'd better watch his back in the SG.
Titina's BFF shows up at her house with the homework she missed. Despite Mama's stern warnings not to help Titina see Chebi anymore, BFF Sylvia agrees to set up a meeting at the park. If he's not there, Titina will call Natalia--and Sebastian doesn't know yet that she doesn't have Natalia's number. Sylvia is in awe of Titina's mad emotional blackmail skillz.
Sebas goes into Antonio's office with his new avant-garde, couture look. Basically, he thinks the "Titina" chapter of his life is now closed.
Never mind. Isa calls Ric and they make a date. To "talk." Whatever.
Lucita comes over to Padre V's. She's got Extraterrestrial Fever. She's got a notebook and a brochure, and a mirror she can use to see the sky without wrenching her neck. Padre V applies the best treatment he knows…coffee and canasta…which may provide temporary relief.
And the enterprising young man who sold Lucita all her UFO-hunting accoutrements? Juancho. He sells out of the mirrors, but people are still lining up for the notebooks and brochures. I just can't even with this kid.
Sebastian (with a full shirt) and Antonio go to El Molcajete to share Sebastian's good news. High fives and hugs all around. Sara thinks she and Antonio make a fine pair of con artists. She's practically re-enacting last night when Cheo walks in.
Theme Song Happy Dance!
Cheo kind of hears the story, but he's still pissed, no matter what any of them try to tell him. He puts it away and fakes being friendly when Sara says they ought to all sit down and eat, but Sebastian claims they've got to get back to work…and Antonio has reflux…so they'll have to have some of Sara's excellent chiles rellenos some other time. After they leave, Cheo tries a "Well, how would you feel if you walked into MY work and saw me getting all cozy with a client?" Sara reminds him she's been there, done that. Cheo almost says she can't be friends with a guy she's…but Sara cuts him off before he can get the rest of the sentence out.
In the car, Sebastian says Cheo's as welcome as a cold on a vacation. Sure, Sara picked him, but only as a "better than nothing" because Antonio's being stupid.
Ric shows up for his date with Isa with another date. That he paid for. In fact, he pays her to leave soon after they arrive, so the "lady" won't offend her. As offended as Isa is by Ric showing up with a prostitute, he was offended by her calling him a "naco." So even though she can't resist him, he's having no problem resisting her. For her own good. Because he'd hate to contribute to her downward mobility.
Sara doesn't know if she can be friends with Antonio, but she definitely can't be his enemy. And she picked Cheo, right? Cheo calms down. Sara looks a little sick.
Isa goes back to her apartment and swears Ric will want her back one day. I'm really not being mean when I say "I hope not."
Sebas and Antonio have some kind of Asian takeout for lunch that comes in the same green containers as the takeout Antonio gets in the DF. Sylvia calls to set up the date and Sebastian falls for Titina's threat.
Patricio, the reporter, meets Juancho and hears about his business enterprise. When he finds out Juancho is Simon's nephew, he crows that he's got tomorrow's story. All this, of course, without ever telling Juancho that he's *that* reporter who did the article on Simon.
Antonio sees Sara in the parking lot and gives her the bad news--their plan failed. Titina called Sebas again.
Titina meets Sebas at a café in the park and demands the pleasure of his company tomorrow at Sylvia's house.
Isa interrupts potential very-friendly-neighbor time with a phone call. As Sara's heading into her apartment, instead of over to Antonio's for drinks, she hears him cooing "What's wrong, my love?" and makes a disgusted face. Isa's sobbing and a little drunk and swears she needs to see Antonio and misses him so much she's running a fever. He scolds her for drinking and says maybe she's coming down with a cold. She should take something for it and get some sleep.
Sara is pouty as she's cooking dinner. Juancho comes home with both literal and figurative bread. Vicente has Lucita's Extraterrestrial search gear. Everybody's kind of impressed by it..and then annoyed that this is what Juancho spent the money he borrowed from Sara on…and then gobsmacked that he made a profit. Simon's smile looks somewhat approving.
Family meeting about Juancho's entrepreneurial activity. Padre V thinks it's taking advantage of people. Bruno thinks it's just supply and demand.
Sebas gets a call from Natalia. He can't wait to be out of the SG and back with her, never to leave her side again. In fact, he's ready to move in, get engaged, get married…just as long as they're never apart again! Nati's cell phone is having issues. She might need to buy a new one soon…and Sebas hatches a plan.
The newspaper boy is selling the edition featuring the latest of Patricio's conjecture-filled articles. He's alleging that the extraterrestrial scare is a money-making scheme that Simon, the one and only aeronautics engineer in San Gaspar, is in on. It doesn't help when Quintin starts telling him about Simon and Bruno's poisoned oranges.
Sebas plans to get into Nati's cell phone account online and block her phone. She gave him the password the last time she was traveling and something happened to her phone and she needed him to block it. He has to call the DF office and get Ligia to look through his planner to find the password--not an easy task when he really had no idea *where* in the planner he'd written it down. But she finds it and he blocks Nati's phone service. Antonio looks a little doubtful. The second part of the plan is to convince Nati to get a phone with a new number.
Rafa gives Antonio a report on the last pump test and how the sensors are doing. Or something like that.
In the little room with all the computers, Nelson explains that the program on the computer (the one he installed spyware on) collects all the info from the sensors and that gets compared to the acceptable parameters, and that's how they see everything is working correctly. Or something like that. He suggests that Pepe and Ramon work on the other computer to program the sensors while Nelson does the thing he just explained. Or something like that.
Edwina reads the newspaper article. Magda asks if she's going to let Simon and Juancho suffer. Um, the answer is pretty much "yes."
Simon is furious! He and Bruno are ready to go press charges for defamation.
Juancho's customers from yesterday are trying to return his merchandise, based on the newspaper article. Juancho meets this admittedly difficult customer service crisis by running away.
Patricio is skulking around the police station, waiting for the news to come to him. He tells Quintin he's going to publish an article about Simon's crops tomorrow, but no worries--he won't reveal his source. Too bad Fidel heard him and says he'd better not say jack or risk getting in trouble. Simon arrives ready to press charges on Patricio…or just beat him to a pulp, whichever.
Juancho runs fast, but he hits a dead end and can't jump the fence. Retail employees everywhere cover their eyes to avoid seeing what will happen…tomorrow.
Fin!
"Sara and Anto dance and reminisce. They’re killing me. "-I swear I was thinking this exact thing :)
--
The whole bar scene was too funny
I was just imagining Sebas running home w/o pants ha!
Then I realized Tonio and ProtaSara probably gave him a ride ;(
----
I kinda admired Juancho's entrepreneurial spirit, seeing an opportunity and making money off it and the fact that he made a profit puts him in my good books, as long as he pays ProtaSara back what he borrowed - hope he doesn't get torn limb from limb
I like Quintin, but I would not have blamed Fidel if he had fired hmm. Letting the reporter squat at his police desk. Telling the reporter info about an open case. Loved angry Simon. He's so cute.
I was also impressed by Juancho's industriousness. But like the characters, couldn't decide if it was shady or just fair business. I like that he gave Sara back her money, and shared his profits with the family. I hope he survives the mob.
Favorite lines:
"Titina and Chebi are OVER. For everyone except Titina. And the brothers. They want a little revenge on her behalf." OMG that's funny.
And:
"Juancho's customers from yesterday are trying to return his merchandise, based on the newspaper article. Juancho meets this admittedly difficult customer service crisis by running away." Ha ha ha ha.
So it appears that ProSara and Anto actually made Sebas' situation worse, because the brothers now believe that Sebas was after Titina to win a bet.
Lo nuevo:
Simon and Bruno are at the police station expressing their outrage over the newspaper article written by the evil, narcissistic reportero, Patricio. Juancho
runs in seeking asylum from the angry mob on his heels.
Cheo and Roque discuss how Cheo saw Sara and Antonio “muy pegaditos” (WAY too chummy) in El Molcajete. Roque opines that if Cheo doesn’t put a stop to it, he is ultimately giving them permission.
Cheo calls Sara who is working in her restaurant. “Watcha doin’?” he asks.
“Working, what else?” says Sara. “Reeeeally?” Cheo probes.
“Ah, no. I’m really poolside in my bikini, but since the top is uncomfortable, I think I’ll take it off!” she teases. Cheo enjoys the joke much less than Sara and he tells her so. After hanging up, Sara laments to Rosa (?) that she doesn’t like where this is going.
Police station.
Fidel tells the protesting customers that there is a right way and a wrong way to resolve these matters. “Quintín, lock up the reportero and Juancho until further notice.”
Juancho and Patricio are put in the same cell! Patricio doubles down on his accusations of the supposed Simón/Juancho fraud. Juancho, furious, tells the reportero that when they get out, he’s going to be sorry ‘cause Juanchos got some BAAAAD friends. And even some in high places like the head of Conatrol!
Patricio just laughs mockingly.
Fidel chastises the angry mob for being easily misled by the “yellow journalism” newspaper and for not taking responsiblity for their decisions to buy random crazy stuff. He pacifies them by promising to fine Juancho for selling to the public w/o a permit.
The bad guy reportero says the fix is in, but calms down when he is told that Simón plans to sue him for defamation of character to the tune of 500,000 pesos.
But Simón will accept an apology and a promise to cease and desist in lieu of the dough.
Antonio is face-timing Uribe, bringing him current on the observation of the sensors and on the progress in the rehabilitation of the marshlands. Slick Ric is with Uribe also. Ric is particularly interested in the details of how the sensors are going to be monitored.
Isabel must really be desperate now. She walks into Conatrol D.F. asking for the office of “el ingeniero Segura.” David offers to take her there to wait for Ric to get out of his meeting with Uribe. As she waits, Natalia calls her to ask for help with her uncooperative cell phone. “So sorry, can’t help you.” Isa hangs up on Nat.
Ric excuses himself from the post meeting and goes to his office to meet Isabel. She wants him. She needs him. Surely he must feel the same! “MMMM, not really. I’m just fine, actually.” Ric pushes Isa out of his office as she tries to regain some vestige of her dignity in front of David and the secretary who are outside of Ric’s office. “Isn’t that Inge. Andrade’s novia?” asks Ligia. “No, you’re seeing things,” David implies, while distracting her with a made-up errand.
Theme song. Doo doo dee doo :-)
Natalia calls Sebas. Can he help with her cell phone problem? Whaay sure he can! Whoopee, my plan is working! he gestures to Antonio.
Ric on phone to Pedro. “They’re monitoring sensors over there in San Gaspar,” informs Ric. “Your San Gaspar guy should have told you this.”
Pedro: “You will not tell me how to run my business. Got it?”
Nelson and the special sensor crew are at work monitoring at their respective computers. Pedro phones Nelson. “What’s wrong with you, Imbecile?!”
Nelson jumps up and out the door, but not before Pepe and Ramón hear what Pedro yelled over the phone. Nelson assures Pedro that he, Nelson, is the one doing the monitoring of the sensors, so eveything’s under control. “You better hope so – or you’ll pay with your life and that of your family!
Cheo “surprises” Sara by popping into the restaurant. She asks him if he is checking up on her – making sure she’s not out by the pool. No way, he says. I trust you completely! Sara goes to get them dinner, and as she does, Cheo grabs her phone from off the table and starts checking it’s history. (Trust is not his strong suit.)
At his office Anto receives a text from “Sara” inviting him for coffee. He gladly accepts. Sara returns to the table where Cheo is, and asks him what he’s doing with her phone. “Just seeing if you got reception here, cause I don’t.” Sara agrees that reception can be spotty in that region.
At the police station, our reportero decides that he has no other option than to write the formal apology to Simón. Quintín has to go to his house, where Patricio has left his computer.
Antonio arrives at the appointed spot for café con “Sara.” But, of course, it’s not Sara – it’s Cheo who is waiting for him. “So I see you got all spiffy for your date with Sara,” says the furry one.
[commercial]
“Don’t you trust Sara?” says Antonio.
“The one I don’t trust is YOU,” says Cheo.
Anto: “Stop obsessing on me and focus on making her happy. She chose you, after all.”
Nelson goes to Nacho’s place badly in need of unloading. (Will he do it this time?)
Nelson: “Have you ever done something that you later regret?”
Nacho: “Are you kidding? Have you met my ex? ... I’m thinking that for you to feel this bad, you must have done something truly terrible.”
At another local Pepe and Ramón theorize about what is up with Nelson. Maybe that story about the other woman was true, and the guy on the phone was a jealous husband!
El Padre Vicente phones Bruno who brings him up to date on all the latest: Simón, el reportero, Juancho, the trucking business. Vicente would like Bruno to get back in the swing of forming that hydroponics class. He’s got lots of interested folks. They hang. Enter stage right Simón and Juancho. Let’s all go to the movies – there’s a flying saucer movie playing! As they all exit the depa, they cross paths with Sebas and invite him too. He declines. Catch me next time, he says.
Titina is at the appointed spot, waiting for Sebas, who has no intention of showing up. In Anto’s depa, Sebas receives a call from Natalia. Could he tell her again how to find her new phone number? Ah, there it is. Phone hugs and kisses.
Sebas’ phone rings again. Gotta be Titina. Mmmm, not pickin’ that up.
Sara and Cheo arrive at Simón’s apt.. Nobody home. Cheo gets that glint in his eye. He’s hot to make hay while the sun shines. Not so fast, she says.
They go out on the balcony to snuggle and giggle. Sebas walks out on Anto’s balcony. Oops, awkward. Walks back in. Anto arrives. He’s annoyed as he tells Sebas about his date with “Sara.” “Well, don’t go out on the balcony if you don’t want to see Cheo with Sara,” Sebas warns. Anto suggests they go out to eat. It’s one thing to accept that Sara chose Cheo. It’s another to have to witness their amor.
El Reportero is typing in his cell. Jeez, it’s so uncomfortable in this cell. Can a guy at least get a cord to charge his compu? Nope, but here’s a sandwich.
Next morning the newspaper is out and circulating. Simón enjoys reading the retraction out loud to Bruno, Juancho and then Sara. Fidel calls and asks if the apology is to Simón’s satisfaction so he can let the bald guy out of jail. Simón can’t believe Fidel kept him in the “tambo” all night!
Edwina and Magda discuss the newspaper apology also. Magda is still concerned that the “mystery” of the OVNI’s still continues. Edwina is unconcerned. She’s convinced that people will soon forget the whole matter. Just like they did with the Chupacabras. (Um, wait a minute.)
Anyways...Ed and Vlad make plans for their next flight. Maybe they’ll break a record for altitude!
Sebas gets dropped off in front of the apt complex, but before he can escape to the safety of inside the “rejas” (the gate, lit. the iron bars), he is accosted by Titina who is pithed at the “plantón” (being stood up) that “Chebi” gave her.
She threatens to call Natalia. “Whatever” Chebi offers. She fakes that she’s going to make the call, but is interrupted by a red car pulling up with her three brothers in it! One brother puts Sebas in a headlock as he protests that she was the one making all of the moves! (Way to man up, Chebi!) Two brothers carry Titi to their car and toss her into the back seat. (Visually, you gotta see it.) They drive off.
Obligatory Sara-and-Antonio-meet-in-the-hallway-or-parking-lot scene.
He: “How’s it going with Cheo?”
She: “Why do you ask?”
He: “Just for the sake of conversation.”
She: “Well, okay, we watched a movie, drank a couple of cervezas and then he left.”
He: “Was the movie about OVNI’s?”
Sara laughs out loud. Then the looks of longing. Then Sara gives Antonio the hottest goodbye peck ever.
Which Tío Vicente witnesses.
Anto leaves.
Vicente reminds Sara that she is playing with fire and is going to get hurt. She knows, she knows. A tear betrays her inner turmoil. She hugs her tío goodbye.
The tag on her shirt pokes out. Oh wait. That’s not part of the story.
Pepe stops by Nacho y Cuatachos to drop off his money for a betting pool they’ve got going on. (Apparently betting on a team you’re playing on is okay. Did not know that.) The subject of Nelson’s worrisome behavior comes up. Is it this “other woman” issue?
Nelson is sitting in front of the sensor monitoring computer at Conatrol.
Phone rings. It’s Anselmo. Is the coast clear to drain the pipeline today? A hand grabs Nelson’s shoulder. It’s Sebas. He wants the reports on the sensors asap.
Cheo tells Roque he’s going back to San Gasp to have dinner with Sara. Roque: “You’re going to smother her, no?” “No way. She wants to see me too.”
Boss comes in and tells Roque that the guys are going to make a trip to Guadalajara to pick up some cars.
Sebas reports to Antonio that the sensors are working to the point of perfection.
Great, even though the sensors are seven years old, that’s one less expense for us.
Slick Ric is dining with his usual sophisticated aplomb. (NOT!) Isabel enters and acts surprised to see him there. “No te hagas.(Stop pretending.) You’re stalking me.” Isa: “Okay, fine. I accept that. But can’t you see that I need you?”
He: “It must be hard for you since you’re used to everyone treating you like some kind of princess. And now this NACO doesn’t cow-tow to your whims.”
Ric’s phone rings. It’s Antonio. “Hey, Antonio. Before anything else, I want you to say ‘Hi’ to somebody who’s here with me!”
I absolutely loved "Obligatory Sara-and-Antonio-meet-in-the-hallway-or-parking-lot scene." It's so true! It really has become almost a required element of every episode. I think for recapping purposes I might start calling it OSAMIT-(location).
And calling Cheo "the furry one" also made me giggle.
Can't wait to watch this episode.
I love the way things turned out with the reporter, and seeing Simon, Bruno, and Juancho happy and laughing together. I like Juancho much better now that he's under the wings of Bruno and Simon. Glad he had to pay the fine too. Perhaps that will make him think a bit more about the legality (and morality) of his schemes.
Although I hate Ric, I am pleased to see his plan for driving Isa crazy with his indifference is working. And although I'm mad at Sebas, I was glad to see him foil Titi's plan (for now).
I just love the scenes between ProSara and Antonio, like when he cracks a smile at her and she laughs, and then they both just start to simmer.
Sara, gracias for the Wednesday recap! The bar scene was my favorite scene this week. I loved watching Sara and Antonio being all tacky, and I actually thought Sara's story about the "bet" was a brilliant way to get Titina's brothers to hate Sebas. The fact that he had to escape through the bathroom window was a bonus.
And now I see that I was indeed missing something--the origins of Juancho's business idea. I guess I must have blinked a lot!
Thank you sneaky, Vivi, Denise, and Sara for your feedback on the recap :D I vote what Isa misses most is the tiger :p
Denise, thank you for Friday's recap! "Ric pushes Isa out of his office as she tries to regain some vestige of her dignity" yikes, I don't really like Isa, but I feel bad because that ship has sailed! I love your description of Cheo as "the furry one"! So fitting :D
"Obligatory Sara-and-Antonio-meet-in-the-hallway-or-parking-lot scene." OK, I'm starting to get the impression that they both spend way too much time hanging out in the hallway or the parking lot just hoping to run into the other one accidentally-on-purpose.
"Apparently betting on a team you’re playing on is okay. Did not know that." Huh...well...I guess it's better than betting on the other team?
Denise, thank you again for this recap, especially with personal stuff going on! I know what you mean--this show is the one I can almost guarantee will cheer me up every time.
Vivi, I'm glad that Ric is pushing Isa away. He's the only thing standing between her and her addiction at the moment!
