Lo Imperdonable #110 Mon 10/19/15 Verónica's men grieve, Martín's women hover, and Virginia's luck starts to run out.

Because sometimes once is more than enough, let's start right in on the new scenes tonight:

Mexico City, El Mercado

Ana Perla has finally ditched the maid's uniform.  And maybe, as Marty once told Pablo, she really does have good genes because now she shows no sign of her recent ordeal.  Indeed, she is bursting with good health in her little white blouse, yellow sash and floral print skirt.

Arturo invites Blanquita and her cousin to work with him in his vegetable stand.  Ana Perla hesitates.  She doesn't want to be a bother to him.  [Oddly, nobody worries about bumping into the mean boss lady.  Isn't this the market where she buys her mangos?]  Blanquita urges Ana Perla to accept Arturo's offer.  Aren't they one big happy family now?  Before Ana Perla can reply, old doña Fede comes along with her carnations.  When she hears that Ana Perla is looking for work, she offers her the flower stall because she is leaving the city to live with one of her children.  [And seriously, if the old lady is giving it away, how much can it be worth?]

Mina Escondida – You can't squeeze blood from a turnip

Juancho tells "Don" Manuel that the men have not been able to find more gold in La Perla.  Manny's response is a menacing wave of the stick and a threat to fire them all.  But when his new cellphone rings, he kicks Juancho out so he can take the call.  After all, who but Virginia has his number?  [Well, arguably, everyone on the Patio, but we would never call him.]

Virginia, who has apparently stolen away from the breast-beating and rending of garments around the coffin in the Prado Castelo mansion, now allows herself a lighter moment.  She teasingly reproaches Manuel for not coming to see her in the city.  As it happens, she says, now he doesn't have to bother making the trip because she has really good news, something she hopes will make him as happy as it makes her:

"Verónica is dead!  We finally got her off our backs!  And Martín has decided to bury her in Mina Escondida."

In fact, Padre Juan has already received the tragic tidings.  We see him in the church, kneeling before the image of the Virgin and praying for Verónica's soul.

Prado Castelo Mansion – Jorge's lament

"What a bitter farewell!" says Jorge as he stands over the closed casket.   "I loved you like a daughter – I was so proud of you!  You were so good, so sweet, so honest...  You can't imagine the pain that your departure leaves behind – a pain so great and so deep that words cannot describe it.  I'm going to miss you every moment of every day for as long as I live."

Back in the Mercado, Ana Perla is now in business.

She hopes by selling flowers, she'll be able to help Blanca and Arturo with expenses.

When Arturo steps away from the stand for a moment, Ana Perla remarks that Blanca seems troubled and asks her what is going on.  Blanca explains that she heard Arturo mention a troubled past, but he won't tell her about it.  He must be hiding something from her.  Ana Perla urges Blanca to give him time – after all, they are still getting to know each another.

Can't buy me love

In Mina Escondida, Joaquín and one of the La Morenita miners, clearly oblivious to the latest tragedy, exult over the new vein of gold they've discovered and how happy it is going to make the engineer and his wife and all the money it is going to make for them.

Good grief – will there be much more of this?

The vigil continues at the Prado Castelo home. Magdalena sobs in Botel's arms.  Martín still seems numb, nearly catatonic.  Now it is Emiliano's turn to lament aloud over the coffin:  "Forgive me for everything, Verónica.  I never thought I could lose you like this. Now I realize that I made a huge mistake.  Forgive me."

Virginia stands by in her mini mourning chic.  She narrows her eyes as she hears Emi's words.

Luciana offers Martín her condolences.  He thanks her mechanically, as if he hasn't heard her words at all.

Botel takes his turn consoling Martín.  He begins by telling him that "La vida sigue."  Life goes on.  [True, but unimaginably cruel to someone in the still raw throes of new grief.  We like to imagine that at least for a little while, life does NOT go on; that in the absence of the beloved, ordinary life comes to a halt.  Oh well, young monkey writers probably haven't learned this yet.]  Botel goes on to say that Martín is not alone – that he and Magdalena love him like a son.  He tells him that the burial will take place in Mina Escondida in a few hours and everyone will be going.

As always, sweet but shallow

In Pueblo Nuevo, Pierre laments:  "Verónica, so beautiful, so young, so distinguished..."  "So good," adds Romeo solemnly.  "She was my platonic love," says Pierre.  "Let's go and say our farewells to that lovely woman."

Like it or not, Rebeca is part of the family now.

Virginia is just working up a good fake sob when she is upstaged by the entrance of Rebeca and her blonde assistant.  She came as soon as she heard the news.  She sits beside Martín and offers her condolences.  Martín continues to look dazed and uncomprehending.

In Mina Escondida –The dark night of the soul

Padre Juan leads the procession to the cemetery, Martín, Botel, Emiliano and Joaquín bearing the coffin on their shoulders.   Torches light their path.  Even Claudia has returned for the occasion, though she gets no lines and shows no cleavage.

Nanciyaga's voice emerges, jarringly loud in the somber silence.  [Or is she thought-bubbling and only we on the Patio can hear her?]

"The stars show pain and tears flowing like rivers made turbulent by confusion and desperation." [sic]

The town yentas are there too, and they bemoan Verónica's loss – she was a good person, in spite of being a fuereña.

The coffin sits beside the ugly gash in the earth that has been readied to receive it.  Magdalena sobs over the coffin's polished surface.

The camera cuts to two of the women who would love to take Verónica's place: Claudia and Rebeca stand side by side, neither one acknowledging the other.

The padre says a final prayer of farewell.  Virginia clings to Jorge, her face showing just the right titration of sorrow.

Martín breaks his silence with a heart-rending cry:  "Why did He take her from me, father?"   He, like Magdalena, falls on the coffin and sobs inconsolably, deaf to the exhortations of his friends to be strong.

You can't have everything.

When Chelas returns to his squalid room in the vecindad, he finds Aarón sitting quietly and reading the newspaper. Why is Aarón so calm?  Wasn't he anxious to take revenge on his wife and daughter?  "All in good time," says Aarón.  He has to consider his next step very carefully.

But he loses his cool upon turning the page and reading the banner headline:  Verónica Prado Castelo Dies in Tragic Accident!  "¡No puede ser!" he says.  "Life just robbed me of the pleasure of taking my dear daughter's life – oh well, I still have Magdalena..."

Oy.

Magdalena is torn by another paroxysm of grief.  Botel puts his arms around her.

Ana Perla closes her mind and hardens her heart.

Ana Perla has been thinking.  [Uh oh.]  She tells Blanca she's tired of all this suffering and she can't keep it bottled up inside anymore.  She has written Pablo a letter that she's going to deliver tomorrow; and then she's going to disappear from his life forever.  This is what the letter says:

Pablo,

The disappointment I feel is equal to or greater than the love I once felt for you.  You lied to me again, stomping on the intense and pure love I felt for you.  You don't deserve it...  You are not worthy of it.  I never should have given so much of myself to you – my heart, my life, my innocence!  I will never be able to forgive you... Never.

Raymunda Ana Perla

Chutzpah

Meanwhile in Mina Escondida, Manuel crashes the party.  He walks up to Martín and places a hand on his shoulder.  "Mi más sentido pesame," he says.  (My condolences.)  Martín looks at the hand as if it were a poisonous creepy-crawly.  The mourners seem to hold their breath.  Music of suspense begins to play...

Then the padre calls out a warning.  "Manuel!"  But the Demon in a Poncho says he is just doing the Christian thing.  He has come to offer his sympathy.  He understands Martín's pain because he has just lost his grandfather.

The padre, knowing the truth about the Old Goat's demise, tells Manuel to respect the pain of others, and he orders him to leave.  Manny ignores him, as he does the pleas and threats of the others, including Pablo, Botel, Jorge and Joaquín.

Emiliano steps forward and says Manuel only came to mock them.  Manny protests:  Nunca me mofaría de un muertito.  (I'd never make fun of a (little) dead person.)  Now Martín lunges at Manny and screams:  "Get out of here or I'll kill you!"  Marty's friends pull him away.  Finally two miners come forward and lead Manny away from the grave.

Martín walks slowly to what is now a raw mound of earth.  [The coffin was lowered and the hole filled in while we were hanging out in the vecindad, I guess.] He kneels and leans over it.

Strong as an ox and twice as dumb

"Are you sure?" asks Blanquita anxiously.  Ana Perla says she is.  Knowing that she is going to be a mother has given her new strength.  [Too bad it didn't give her brains too.]  Unaccountably, Blanquita expresses her admiration for her dimwitted cousin, though she feels sad for her too.  Then the cousins giggle and hug as they imagine the joy the baby is going to bring.  And it is almost certainly going to be a girl!

It's Art

"That's not the way I raised you!" says Montserrat, paintbrush in hand, to her dimwitted Amazon of a daughter, now gotten up as Diana, the huntress, perhaps.  Her mother worries about what others will think about Mariana's obsessive pursuit of Pablo.  Besides, there are so many men in the world...  Mariana doesn't care what others think.  She's determined to take Pablo away from the little pueblerina... and then she's going to leave him flat!

The last ones to leave...

More time has elapsed at the gravesite.  Fresh flowers now surround the mound of dirt.   Most of the other mourners have left.  Martín kneels alone at the grave.  "Take me with you, Verónica.  I don't want to keep living without you."  Rebeca [whose hair this evening threatens to overwhelm her tiny person] now approaches him and offers him some advice:  "You need to grieve, you need to let it out – cry, scream, do what you have to do – but live your pain.  Let Verónica's memory give you strength."

Martín whispers that he needs to be alone.  Rebeca starts to walk away.

... the rotten eggs

At what must be a safe distance, out of view and out of earshot, Virginia congratulates Manuel on his performance.  Both agree that Martín is getting what he deserves.  "And it's only the beginning," says Virginia.  Manny is puzzled by her words.  She declines to explain.  They agree, however, to meet the next day.  Before she can leave, he pulls her back and kisses her.  She doesn't exactly resist.  Ewwwww.

Cryptic omens and words that obscure

Nanciyaga is still lurking in the darkness.  She looks narrowly at Rebeca and then down at Martín, who is still on his knees, begging Verónica not to leave him alone.  "I can't imagine my life without you – take me with you!"

Suddenly a white dove appears and flies right to Martín.  Fortunately Nanciyaga is there to interpret the omen.  [Well, you know, sort of.]

"White dove says that white woman walks, captive between two worlds.  White woman is now memory and oblivion.  Tears of boss Martín stir up the mud and sand that cloud what is and what is felt." [siccer]

Martín holds the dove and strokes its feathers.

"Nanciyaga sees death and life joined by absence." [siccest]

Rebeca stands on silently, taking it all in.

Later that evening...

Pablo and his mother have accompanied Martín back to his new house.  Pablo doesn't want to leave his friend alone, but Martín won't leave.  He insists that Pablo and Lucia return to Mexico to continue the search for Ana Perla.  "Don't do what I did – I squandered my love for Verónica on a vengeance that didn't even make sense." [Well duh.]

Jorge seems to have forgotten Salma's warning

It is a lovely morning outside, but inside the Prado Castelo mansion, the mood is gray and grim.  Virginia delivers a breakfast tray to Jorge.  She tells him he needs to rest.  It's obvious he hasn't slept at all.  She urges him to eat something.  He says he can't possibly (imposible pasar bocado).  She begs him to try – he is all she has left in the world, and she couldn't bear it if he got sick or something happened to him. Her own mother has abandoned her, she whines; she begs him not to abandon her as well.  Jorge says she's right – he will overcome the pain for Emiliano's sake and for hers.

Virginia passes him a coffee cup and smiles fondly even as she thought-bubbles poisonously: "Stupid old fool, I'm so sick of your drama.  I'm going to get rid of you, and then I'll get rid of Emiliano."

Let's do it for Verónica!

Rebeca and Emiliano have stayed on in Mina Escondida.  Now they are in Martín's office.  They are both struggling to accept the suddenness of Vero's death.  They agree to go forward with the jewelry collection as a way to honor Verónica's memory.

Rebeca says Verónica was an exceptional woman.  She guesses from the way Emiliano speaks of her that he was in love with her.  He admits he was in love with her all of his life, although his love was unrequited.  He curses Martín for appearing in their lives; and he curses Virginia because she played a big part in Verónica's suffering.

When Aarón Met Ginny

Virginia is heading to the Prado Castelo offices when she is waylaid by a man carrying a cane and wearing a cheap suit and a mirthless smile.    He addresses her by name.  What does he want?  He wants to talk about her exploits (proeza) of the other night.

Virginia has heard enough.  She has many things to do, she says dismissively, and no time to listen to foolishness.  She starts to walk away, but the man stops her.  "I imagine being a murderer is one of those things – the murderer of Martín San Telmo's wife, for example..."

At first, Virginia pretends not to understand.  But the man tells her he has proof that she and her accomplice were involved in the accident suffered by his dear daughter Verónica.

"So you are...?"

"Aarón Martínez Creel.  I imagine you know I'm someone to be reckoned with (Soy de armas tomar)."

Virginia remembers Verónica telling her that Aarón murdered his own brother in cold blood.  "But Verónica's father is in prison," she says.  "He was," retorts Aarón gleefully.

"What do you want?" she asks.

"Money.  Simply money – and lots of it.  And as long as "lots" means the same thing to you and your accomplice and to me, we won't have any problems.  But if you're going to offer me a pittance, don't waste your time because I'll take you down in front of Martín San Telmo – and your uncle."

Inconsolable in Mexico

Magdalena and Botel are back in Martín's place in Mexico City.  She should have stayed in Mina Escondida with Verónica, she says.  Her pain is so great that she feels as if she died along with her daughter.  Botel's words of comfort fall on deaf ears.  At last she allows herself to be led off to bed.

Inconsolable in Mina Escondida

Martín faces the morning alone in the house he built for Verónica.   He looks at the painting of the waterfall, and the memory of their first night of passion comes flooding back.  And then other memories return, their joy producing unbearable sorrow.

Now Martín remembers what Rebeca told him at the cemetery:  "Let it out!  Live your pain!"   He lets loose a screaming ¿Por qué?  Why?  He screams the word over and over, sweeping bowls and vases to the floor, tipping over chairs and tables, pulling decorative masks from the wall and hurling them to the ground.  He sinks to the floor and sobs.  WHY????

It looks like all the good stuff is happening tonight! It's about time, no?

Enjoy the recap, chic@s!

Wonderful recap!

Wow last night was grief city. Seeing Marty completely out of it, Mags crying uncontrollably, was heart breaking!!

Loved the lines about AP missing brains. I really can't stand her and think Pablo would be way better off without her.

Rebecca hanging around unnerved me. She barely knows them and though it was nice of her to go to the wake and travel to the funeral, her hanging around Marty when he asked to be alone crossed the line for me. She says all of the right things. I guess I don't understand her character's purpose. Maybe the writers won't have Emi and Nanci together but put him with her. There isn't enough time left for her and Marty to get together. Years would have to pass. Is she suppose to cause jealousy problems when Vero returns? Really at this last stage? Seems unlikely.

Thank you NovelaMaven. This was wonderful. I loved the title and enjoyed the recap from start to finish. There were many many great lines.

The highlight of the night for me was no one believing in Manny's condolences and showing their disgust for him. I loved how he was forced to be led away. Also good, was him finding out that his mine is gold-less. Ha!

Not sure why Veronica was buried in Mina Escondida. It would have made more sense for her to be buried next to Mati back in the city. Oh well. It can't really be her that was buried, right?

I liked Marty's grief better when it was silent. It was good for him to let it all out but to have him screaming and throwing things was a little too much for me. I blame the directors.

I was surprised Aaron didn't mention to Virginia that he had the recording of her confessing to having murdered Mati. Is he saving it as another way to get more money out of her?

Who else thinks that Ana Perla will run into Julio when she goes to deliver the letter? Not a spoiler just a guess.

Oh I forgot, I also liked Montse using Mariana as a model. Mariana looked hilarious in that costume Montse made her wear.

Thanks NovelaMaven for this outstanding recap. So witty and hilarious. You always manage to make me smile.

I so enjoyed watching the grieve-off between Martín and Magdalena. Very entertaining.

Isn't it interesting that after about... what?... maybe twenty minutes tops of actual contact with Verónica that Rebeca seems to be an expert on what a wonderful person that she was.

I loved Martín's post-burial tantrum... shades of Hernán (LT)... all that was missing was that fragile intricate glass terrarium.

Carlos

Thank you, NovelaMaven, for another fantastic recap. The title is perfect, and so many great details.

Carlos - Yes, I think Martín was channeling Hernán Saldaña last night. Loved it.

Mauricio - I too enjoyed how all were in unison about how Manny did not belong there. Manny did look a little frightened by Martín's threat to kill him, I thought.

Carvivlie - I was thinking also that maybe Rebeca is here for Emiliano. Definitely hope it's not to mess things up this late in the game for Verónica and Martín.

NovelaMaven - So many great lines, but loved this one re: Claudia: "...gets no lines and shows no cleavage."

NovelaMaven, this was a good recap of a
Heartening episode. I was watching the folk
At the grave side. That young woman that
Died in the firey crash probably never had that kind of love and heart felt emotion come
At her in her life. Yall do know veronica's not dead right? Remember what nanci said to
Martin at the grave site? "White dove says white woman walks captive between two worlds" SHE'S IN A COMA!!! And shes either
In somebodys house or in a hospital clinic or
Somewhere, she's not dead. this is not a spoiler but it is a pretty good guess. there were two people in that van and only us patio people and those two miscreants know all about it, ginny girl and Danny Boy. Now also this could be one of those stories where they do kill the leading lady off and replace her with somebody else like Rebecca maybe? Im
Guessing, but you can almost figure it out. I
Really hope they bring her back for martin.
they're my power couple for the show. I really don't want to see him with anybody else but I'm not in control its up to the writing people.
Manny had some nerve didn't he? He has no idea how crazy martin is, and at this point he really needs to back the hell off. I'll finish later I got so much to say I'm getting off from work, Have at it people.

Thanks NovelaMaven for the recap. I enjoyed it.

It was so sad again seeing Martin grieving that way. So sad. I am really annoyed that they haven't shown us where Vero is. I am not liking how much Vero and Martin are apart.

Carvivile - I agree with you about Rebecca. I don't understand why she was hanging around. She should have left Martin alone. If the writers put her and Martin together I will be highly disappointed. I don't trust the writers.

I think the reason Vero was buried there was because Martin's
brother was buried at the Mina.

Nina also agree that they are the power couple.

The only thing that made me happy with this episode was Aaron going for Virginia!

The recap was great. The episode itself was Wretched Excess and then some. So I really enjoyed your "breast-beating and rending of garments" quip. So true! Jeez. Plus I totally agree with you...I hate it, in these telenovelas, where 30 seconds after some terrible tragedy, some mealy-mouthed character is preaching "But Life goes on, you must be strong, sigue adelante and right now please! 'cause I'm uncomfortable with your grief. Ridiculous. Just shut up and stick with saying you're so sorry.

Other fave" "Ana Perla has been thinking. (uh-oh). Yes, pretty but dim-witted. Perfect for pretty but dim-witted Pablo.

A bit under the weather today but your recap was a bright spot, Thanks NovelaMaven.

NovelaMaven---You blow me away time after time and today is no different. Starting with your excelente title and running all the way through. Nothing more than pure gold writing I would say.

LOL that we on the patio never call Manuel.

Novela you asked---Good grief, will there be much more of this? The answer is that there is always much grief when a goddess dies. However on the other hand, when the viper, V-snake dies, Carlos will be the only sad one out on the patio.

Another GREAT line---Virginia stands by in her mourning chic.
And another---Virginia's just working up a good fake sob.
And yet another---Claudia gets no lines and shows no cleavage.

Your rotten eggs line threw me as I hadn't seen any eggs either fresh or rotten in last nights epi. And then it's Virginia and Manuel. Yes, a perfect line it was.

Loved when Aaron Met Ginny---Can't wait to see if what Carlos said turns out to be true about the viper's cunning winning out over Aaron. I'm not so sure about that one. Ginny is going down and it just might be that Aaron is a power that she will be unable to overcome. Dead or in jail, that is the question for now.

Ana Perla---What can I say, I'm lost for words.

Marty screaming and throwing things WAS NOT the fault of the directors. In fact, it was a very real ending filled with uncontrollable grief for a deep love lost. It couldn't have been played any better.

Nina---I liked your words "power couple."

Ana Perla??? What can I say, I am lost for words concerning her.

Red fire from the torches? I never saw fire that color. What was with that?

I thought that Nanciyaga was going to say that her snails have spoken and that Veronica is alive. Well she didn't say that but kinda, sort of in a way she did.

I LOVED--LOVED--LOVED the white dove for our goddess Veronica/Ana Brenda.

I CAN'T WAIT for esta noche's must see tv
the gringo

That letter ana-p is sending to pablo is a bit
Harsh, espeicaly since she don't have the Imfo That merrit that kind of a letter. Shes calling him a liar based on part of a half heard conversation. She didn't even give him a chance, she just left. And still stupid.
They should fix it so, ginny, dan, manny, chelas, and aaron go over a cliff together, and blow up In a ball of fire. I like what rebecca said to martin, tho when that kind of pain is There, just trying to help and what they're saying is true, you really don't want to hear that you just want to be left alone with your pain. People wont appreciate that until after the funeral, after some weeks, after the pain has subsided a little bit. So that's what I'm thinking and I'm sticking with it. :-D
Ivan is very at good grieving. I was really convinced. come on writers send ronnie back. If he was to start pounding Manny when he put his hand on his shoulder no one would have blamed him.

Just a great recap, NovelaMaven, and very much appreciated. Thank you!

The salient points for me were:

Marty's expressions of deep pain, especially when he threw things and tore the masks off of the wall and smashed them. And, yes, catatonic. I behaved similarly when I lost my son. I thought it was really well done and most appropriate, sorry Mauricio. Ivan played this beautifully I thought.

Did not quite understand having burial at night. Is there some Catholic or indigenous reason for that in Mexico?

The most blatantly inappropriate scenes were when Manuel showed up graveside and when Rebecca was fawning over Marty - not too sensitive on their parts, but then what can one expect from self-obsessed people?

The best scene for me was when Aaron and Virginia had words. Who will have the upper hand there? Looking forward to seeing Virginia suffer - I hope it isn't a fire or a car crash or something like jail. She needs to really suffer physically big time. (and I think of myself as a nice person!!) How many will she kill beforehand? Jorge, Emi, Marty?

Novela Maven~
You are fantastic. Sic.....sicER....sicEST! Loved it!
Kim

Fantastic Recap NovelaMaven! Your power for prose is unmatched.

I think Marty's grief was conveyed well by Ivan. Everyone is different when they grieve and he is in those back and forth moments of disbelief in silence and then over to rage at the unfairness of life. Well done Mr. Sanchez.

I can't wait for Ginny to get her anvil. Hopefully it's the size of an Airbus380. The only good thing about meeting up with Aaron is at least she has met her nemesis when it comes to evildoing and fratricide.

The red flames were weird! I vote either CGI or some kind of component added to the torch to make it flame that way.

An evening burial would be quite strange in a rural part of the Republica as most small town cemeteries do not have electricity running through them much less proper lighting to conduct any kind of burial ceremony or funeral. Not to mention it is pitch black and scary AF in most of them. Someone would certainly trip and fall into an open ditch by accident. I'm going to assume this is done for effect and nothing more.

Shame on Rebecca. At least Claudia had the decency to just pay her respects and bail. Not this broad. No you knew Vero for 10 seconds and the corpse ain't even cold yet and you chatting up Vero's grieving man. Go away lady. Just no.

Thank you for the terrific comments today, everyone. And of course, I really appreciate the kind words.

Kim, I have to confess that you gladdened my heart. Most of the time, my favorites go unremarked (for good reason, undoubtedly), so it is a joy when one of them leaps at a reader. Thank you thank you thank you!

JudyB, I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well today. It was especially kind of you to stop by. Yes, the Get Over It crowd "right now please! 'cause I'm uncomfortable with your grief" always makes me wish I had a nerfazo handy to throw at the screen. (I wonder – could we create LINGOTAZOS for this show? These things were easier when we had Anita running the store.)

Carvivlie,

Rebecca hanging around unnerved me.

yeah, she has just met these people, whatever ties her family may have had to the Prado Castelo clan. What can I say? I was so distracted by her hair that it made it hard for me to pay attention to what she was saying. I'm getting the feeling, though, that she is intended to be one of the dwindling number of good guys on the show.

Mauricio,

"I was surprised Aaron didn't mention to Virginia that he had the recording of her confessing to having murdered Mati."

Good point. The evidence he has for that murder is a lot stronger than the evidence for Vero's. I suppose it's part of a larger strategy...

"Who else thinks that Ana Perla will run into Julio when she goes to deliver the letter?

Aha! That's quite possible since Julio has been staying at Pablo's apartment and Pablo has been away. I used to be rooting for the AP/Pablo romance, but I'm starting to think AP and Julio deserve each other (and I don't mean that in a generous way!).

Carlos,

"Isn't it interesting that after about... what?... maybe twenty minutes tops of actual contact with Verónica that Rebeca seems to be an expert on what a wonderful person that she was."

That's just the kind of thing people from the right families can do, Carlos. Breeding shows, silly!

Mari,

"Manny did look a little frightened by Martín's threat to kill him, I thought."

I'm glad you mentioned that! He did look scared. It's not news that Manny is a coward. He's only comfortable when the fight is rigged in his favor.

Nina,

"Now also this could be one of those stories where they do kill the leading lady off and replace her with somebody else like Rebecca maybe?"

Could be, but I would HATE that! Yikes! Bring back our Vero, Monkey Writers! Tonight!

Duchess,

"I think the reason Vero was buried there was because Martin's
brother was buried at the Mina."

Good point! Also, it's where her mother lives too.

Novela Mavenista:
Rebeca is supposed to be in 15 episodes in this TN according to IMDB. That would work out to every last one.

Gringo,

Thanks so much!

"Marty screaming and throwing things WAS NOT the fault of the directors. In fact, it was a very real ending filled with uncontrollable grief for a deep love lost. It couldn't have been played any better."

Yes, Gale makes a similar point. I think you're both right. The problem some of us have is that we feel manipulated because so there are so many cues and hints that Verónica is still alive. (Of course, the character of Marty has no way of knowing everything that we on the Patio know.)

Nina, yes, that Ana Perla letter was harsh. That's why I thought it sounded like the "old" Raymunda (and not the newer, gentler version.) :-)

JackieV,

Thanks for the info about evening burials. Makes a lot of sense.

"Shame on Rebecca. At least Claudia had the decency to just pay her respects and bail. Not this broad. No you knew Vero for 10 seconds and the corpse ain't even cold yet and you chatting up Vero's grieving man. Go away lady. Just no."

HAHAHAHAHA! Well said!

JudyB

I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. Hope you feel better soon.

Duchess and NovelaMaven

Great points about why Veronica was buried in Mina Escondida.

--

About Veronica's burial taking place at nighttime, I didn't think there was an actual reason for it other than that by the time the wake had finished and they had all made it to Mina Escondida it had gotten dark.

Gale,

I agree that grief can look and feel very much the way Ivan Sanchez portrayed it in that last scene. I'm so sorry that you have experienced such a tragic loss in your own life.

I'm glad you enjoyed the recap and grateful that you stopped by to tell me so.

I won't even speculate on the fate that awaits Virginia (I'm always wrong anyway.) I just hope she's stopped before she gets to bump off any of our favorite people.

Have I mentioned lately that I can't stand Manuel? That guys just really really slimy, I will be really happy when he gets his.

NovelaMaven,
I am about half way through the recap but I wanted to thank you before it gets any later.

I loved Ivan's portrayal last night. To me it was very believable and true. I hated Rebeca hanging around him like a hawk. Ready to strike at a moments notice. GO AWAY REBECA!!!

Hasta Pronto

NovelaMaven,
