Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse #35 Mon 10/12/15 (Mex 47) You Got Balls? I Got a Ball Buster! or Granny Throws Down the Gauntlet!

Ciao, Muchacha Patio Peeps.  Let's see what's up with the Mighty Angeles Clan!

Remember Vitto bounching little Beto, Diana's baby, on his knee?  Well, Diana's mom did NOT spill the beans but kept up with the cover story that Beto is Diana's sick sister's baby.  Vitto flashes back to Adela telling him the sister story is a farce.  He asks her name and they both say different names but recover that she prefers one name to the other.  The sister is in the hospital and Diana's mom wants to go visit her and has nobody else to watch little Betto.  Vitto is fine with that, Diana gulps like a guppy.  Diana's mom leaves!

At El Rancho, Osvaldo herds Sonia into their bedroom, pushes her onto the bed and digs her out about not telling him about the pregnancy.  He flings her coat at her.  They are going to a lab to get a DNA test NOW!  He growls again that he will kill her if the baby is Fabio's!

What's this?  Fiorella up on a horse this bright sunny morning?  Gigi begs her not to leave.  No!  Fifi needs to be alone.  Quina is watching the tearful scene.  Fifi asks Quina to take care of Gigi and Fifi rides away!

Aitana and Pedro on the sofa.  Pedro is huffing, sighing and frowing and not looking at Aitana.  She swears she had no idea of Eloisa's intention but would love it if they were together again.  She begs him, for the umpteenth time, to give her a chance.  Pedro stands up abruptly.  He doesn't have time for this, he tells her:  he's got to go talk to Granny!

Osvaldo and Sonia are on their way out of the house when she goes back to get her cell. Sonia meets Pedro on the stairs.  They have to talk.  He repeats he doesn't remember anything of that night.  Well, he was drunk and everything was spontaneous.  (Hmmm, I thought it was a long, luscious, lovemaking session).  Pedro says the child can't be his.  Osvaldo suspects it's not his but doesn't suspect Pedro.  Sonia says if he finds out about them he will kill them.  She tells Pedro they're about to go get a DNA test.  Osvaldo comes in looking for Sonia and she flops over like a rag doll in a fake faint.  Pedro carries her down the stairs and Osvaldo is not a bit alarmed and sees right through it.

Benito sees Fifi gallop by on the horse and takes off after her in a golf cart.  He follows the crying Fiorella to where she's tied the horse to a tree.  She tries unsuccessfully to get him to leave and ends up crying on his shoulder.

Gigi runs into the Big House and tells Pedro about Fifi leaving on horseback. They both run out of the house.  He's going to find her!  Later in the stables a beautiful horse was either just waiting for an adventure or Pedro called ahead.  He mounts the beauty and takes off like a bat out of a snag.  Gianna slumps to a bench and for a minute I think she's going to have a crisis but if she did, we didn't see it.

We have a brief convo between Gael and Roxi as the television watches them.  What does he think of Pedro and Aitana being back together?  Not much, he's worried about Sonia's pregnacy.  Eh, big deal, a little Osvaldo or a little Sonia running around with snotty noses and poopy diapers.  The big gossip is that Pedro is in love with Fiorella.  Roxi does her usual trash talk about the shame of the CEO of the family business trying to hook up with a servant.  Gael defends Fiorella's position and the relationship and Roxi dismisses Gael's opinion.  What can she expect when he is in love with "Gata number two!"  She flounces out of the room.

Aitana stops by to see Eloisa in her bedroom. Aitana is somewhat hangdog but Eloisa is having none of it.  Aitana should hold her head up:  If Eloisa says Aitana is going to be with Pedro, that's because that's the way it will be!

Freddie taunts Osvaldo with the cards and pumps him for information.  She empathizes with his nervousness about the paternity of the baby.  She further infects his spirit with the card's wisdom:  Sonia is full of secrets and the moon card foretells of confusion, darkness and mystery.  "What secrets do you and Sonia have?"

Now Sonia is in the bedroom (I guess having recovered from fainting)  talking to Fabio on the phone.  She's got to see him quickly!  She lies and says it was her OB doc when Osvaldo enters the room.  They have an appointment for the DNA test tomorrow.  She tries to cry and beg off and complains about his lack of confidence in her.  Oh, she spent so many years feeling guilty for not giving him a child and now they have a chance to have one!  "And now you surprise me with a pregnancy and I don't even know if it's mine or one of your lovers!"   Her tears don't move him.  "You disgust me!" he spits at her!

Well, Pedro has been galloping around who knows where for so long it's now pitch black.  He gallops calling Fiorella's name over and over.  Oh!  Fiorella has also been crying on Benito's shoulder all this time and he hasn't talked her out of riding out in the middle of the night also to who knows where.  Pedro rides up to them and dismounts.  Bottom line:  she won't go with Pedro.  Benito will wait as long as necessary and then drive Fiorella back to the ranch.  Pedro says he's not going to give up so easily!  He's going to fight for her!  He gets back on the horse and rides away.  Fiorella cries on Benito's shoulder again.

It's the next morning, Pedro enters the kitchen where Gigi and Simoneta are eating breakfast.  He finds out Benito took Fiorella to Vittorio.  Eloisa gave her permission to leave.

Benito made a stop at his parents' house where they all sit at the breakfast table.  Fiorella talks herself into a new attitude on her life and Vittorio:  he's not so bad, he brought her to Mexico, he's attentive, he's a gentleman. . .she ignores Benito's offering that he's old.  She brushes off the little thing with the picture.  After all, he cares about her and her sister.  She thinks she can have what Adela and Rey have; she just has to be patient and learn to love Vittorio.  Benny just wants her to be happy.  She will pray to Saint Biagio to make it so!

It's also breakfast at the Angeles and the morning of Freddie's first day in her forty some years of life going to work.  Sergio, Eloisa and Julieta all marvel over it.  Freddie thinks they will be surprised when she becomes indispensable to the business!  Julieta thinks the whole clan is just full of surprises:  Freddie working; Osvaldo and Sonia expecting a baby; Aitana and Pedro back together.  Speaking of Pedro, he bursts into the dining room and lights into Eloisa for letting Fiorella leave the Ranch.  RPC:  he and Granny get into a shouting match.  Granny:  Fiorella is her employee and she's the one who gives her orders!  Pedro:  all employees should be treated the same!  Just when it starts feeling like a school yard smack down, Sergio hustles Pedro out of Granny's face and out of the dining room!

At the office Sonia tells Fabio she's pregnant and it's probably his, after she fights off his hands and lips first, that is.  His cocky conquistador smile drops like a rock when he hears the news.  They have to think fast because Osvaldo is going to make her take a DNA test.  Sonia's cell rings.  It's Osvaldo.

Sergio has taken Pedro to the study.  He gets to the bottom of why Pedro is acting so strange by disarming him with confessions of his inadequacy as a father while appealing to his undying paternal love and loyalty.  Sergio thought Aitana was the perfect woman for Pedro.  NO!  With a forcefulness we'd loved to have seen earlier he declares that he's in love with Fiorella.  Eloisa found out, was furious and does not approve, THAT'S why she staged the little drama the day before.  Sergio knew there was an attraction between him and Fiorella but thought she was just a pastime.  "Fiorella is NOT a pastime; she is the love of my life and I will fight for her!

Fiorella arrives at La Dolce Vita and walks into the office where Vitto is with Beto.  He repeats the story Diana told him.  Beto is fussing, Fiorella takes him and begins to coo and chortle to him.  Her whole face lights up with enchantment which is not lost on Vitto.  Later there is a funny scene where Diana tries to take little Beto from Vitto and Fiorella.  No, she shouldn't worry; she should go visit her sick sister.  She tries to argue but they insist and Fiorella is having a grand time with the little cutie.  Diana finally gives up and leaves, her face clouded with jealousy.

Roxi talks on the phone with Aitana and we have yet another repeat of the theme that a low life servant can't hook up with the CEO.  She also gives Aitana a pep talk about finally snagging Pedro.  Granny Eloisa will NOT let the gata get Pedro so she should just be calm and patient.  Aitana finally agrees and will let things flow.  By the way, who's her mysterious man shes so gah gah over?  Well, it's somebody the family wouldn't approve of so he's just a pastime.  Roxi refuses to tell Aitana who it is over the phone, she'll tell her later in person.  Freddie enters and the conversation is cut short.  Freddie wants to know what's her job in the joint.

Finally, to the showdown between Pedro and Granny.  He doesn't like her "It's my way or the highway" modus operandi when it comes to his personal life.  How dare she tell the family something that was not only untrue but not EVEN in his mind or plans at all!  This is NOT a business matter, this is his personal life!  He is NOT going to permit her to tell him who he should fall in love with!  Granny insists he listen.  Pedro continues, "I'm telling you now that I'm going to fight, even you, for the love I feel for Fio. . ."  She cuts him off, "Don't even think about it!  Don't dare mention her name!  By your Grandfather's memory, I swear this will not happen!"

Pedro bristles at his Grandfather being brought into this but Granny fires back that she does so with good reason.  She tells the story that Maximo was about to give up the business and every thing for a woman.  She doesn't know who the woman was but it did happen.  She and Maximo were an established couple with two children and grandchildren and the business was as big and powerful as it is now.  She forced him to leave the woman and saved the family fortune and Maximo never saw the woman again or at least was very careful that she never found out!

Times are different, is Pedro's argument.  He's not going to risk the family business and fortune and he is NOT his Grandfather.

"No, but you are the heir, head of this family and President of the Company and I'm not going to let you risk it all some girl that has caught your eye."

"What are you going to do?"

"You don't have the slightest idea what I'm capable of and don't provoke me!   The least I will do is make sure Fiorella is separated from you like I did with your Grandfather and she will disappear from the Ranch and from your life forever!"

Wow Lila!! I could just feel the vibes of the characters coming through your detail. Everyone on edge, arguing, shouting, moaning and whining...no wonder the baby picked up the vibe. Great job!

Now I will admit, the Cubs (YEAH!) got a lot of my attention that hour, but I saw most of the major arguments. (Face it, that was most of last night). For the record, AGAIN, I am so done with Eloisa and last night, I totally could buy into the idea that this elitist snob was capable of cheating Gabriel and possibly worse. No wonder her hubbie wanted to marry someone else. I would have begged thru the pain to kill me too if it was her face I had to deal with every day on my deathbed.

But I'm no more happier with our chief galan. Jerk. He's all bluster and I will fight after he let events hurt the woman he loved. He can claim whatever, and stare down Grammie Monster, but he has no spine right now to really do anything but talk. If UNI snips anything, they can cut out these endless claims of love and fighting for Fi until he actually does something to prove it.

And can I say, if I am the unfortunate person who has to squire around Freddy on her first day of work, I would be leaving and needing a sick day just to not have to look at that outfit she had on. Good lord that was just nasty. I really want to see what she's going to do.

Sonia....Osvaldo...yawn.

I get the giggles whenever they show the family watching TV. It seems such a simple thing, but do you know how many times I have thought watching these shows, "maybe if they had a TV in the house, people would have something to occupy them so they cause less trouble." Works with Roxy. Sit her there and get her away from Gia. That said, not enough Gael last night. I so wanted him to run out and hug Gia in the courtyard.

Hope the story moves on somehow and we've had enough Fi and Pedro yo-yo. Maybe some distance isn't a bad thing with these two.

Daisynjay

Buongiorno, Daisynjay! Amica, mille grazie!

I totally could buy into the idea that this elitist snob was capable of cheating Gabriel and possibly worse.

Daisy, that was my thought exactly! I had defended Eloisa's innocence about knowing that Max swindled his own brother! With last night I now now know she is capaz de cualquier cosa!

Could she have given Sonia something to make her abort?

Did she think she had killed Max's side chick?

Max pulled one over on her though and moved the side chick and his baby right into the house!

Yah, Pedro was all all full of smack talk, wasn't he but Granny smacked him down!

ITA about needing a break from the yo-yo. Lordy! Maybe Fifi WILL marry Pedro and be so rich she'll babysit Beto for fun and start enjoying her life in Casa DarGOne.

I got balls part one hasn't worked out so well for Petey!

Thank you, Lila. You've had to recap two craptastic episodes in a row. Eloisa is an evil, maipulative, contemptible woman. Like Daisynjay, I totally believe she could have cheated Gabriel.

It also drives me nuts when one character(Eloisa) has completely antiquated ideas and the writers throw out the "Times are different" line...but continue with the tried and true "you can't be with the maid" story.

Hey LILA--great and wonderful recap! That scene with Vito, Fifi and the baby was precious, especially given Diana's look of cranky frustration.

Not only is Granny totally overstepping her bounds, but Pedro is still looking like a wimp while putting up a useless protest. It dawns on me that the woman who almost brought down the family empire and ruined granny's marriage was Joaquina. If so, that means Maximo was about to give up everything for his "true love". Branny claimed not to know the identity of the woman, but makes me wonder how she was talked into receiving Joaquina and her baby (*Roxie Raccoon) into the household.

Looking forward to reading all the comments later today. Thanks again Lila!!!

J in Oregon

Oops: Granny, not "Branny".
:o)
J in O

*snort * Branny. Maybe she'd be less cranky if she got some more fiber in her diet. All she's been chewing lately is everyone's ass.

Grazie, sorellina mia, Sara! Oh, Sara, that Eloisa is a real fire breathing Dragon, ain't she!? Yah, she was probably in on ALL Max's dirt!

Above, everyone, I meant that Eloisa could have given Sonia something to make her abort that first baby that she accused Sonia of "conveniently losing" after she had hooked Pedro. I remember her coldness when she said that to Sonia as well as just last week her telling Alina, the Psychologist, that Gael should be over his mother by now!

Elisa is colder than a witch's tit!

Sara, they DID drive that, "you can't be with the maid" thing into the ground, didn't they?

So what is Roxi going to do when she finds out Quina is her mom? Go into self-imposed exile from all things Angeles?

Grazie tanto, Lila. This was #47 completo.

We all know that after watching Fiorella with baby Beto that Vittorio is going to get ideas about knocking her up. Gag me with a spoon, as kids say today. That can't be allowed.

Pedro needs to challenge Eloisa. If necessary he should question her competence and demand a hearing. If Assvaldo can marry a slutty lounge singer he should certainly be allowed to marry a virginal maid.

In fact, Pedro and Fiorella should just elope. He has enough business knowledge to start a company.

At least this episode tells us that Eloisa has no clue that Maximo was Rox's sperm donor and Joaquina the birth-mother. This also says that nobody else knows.

Eloisa, there is an old saying here in El Norte: Karma's a bitch and she has PMS.

More later.

Buongiorno e grazie, J in O, carita

It dawns on me that the woman who almost brought down the family empire and ruined granny's marriage was Joaquina.

Yeppers! And the last laugh is on Granny because she's raised Quina's and Max's "bastard." I wish Quina had more of a confident inner chuckle about it instead of carrying around dying embers for Max and grieving the vicious brat her daughter has become but whatEVA!

Maybe I didn't listen well but I thought Granny said she did not know who the woman was. Won't be able to review the tape, gotta go to work soon. Maybe some of my Patio Peeps can weigh in!

Grazie di nuovo, J in O!

Mille Grazie, Urbanita! Urban, I saw that look and didn't want to lose my dinner. Fifi was so taken with little Beto she didn't see that look. Really, Fifi, is that who you want your first time to be with?

In fact, Pedro and Fiorella should just elope.

Urban, I would be all for that and let the show be about the aftermath!

Grazie, Urban, see you later!

Sara, that's a scream about the Granny and the bran! Good one!

I couldn't have done it with out J in O.

Thanks for another gem of a recap, Lila!

I could not believe Pedro wasted all that energy and anger being an asshole to argue with Eloisa about keeping Fio locked in the house, like the servant she is. Huh?! First of all, that's just dumb. Second, he should have been using that time and anger to tell the whole family that he is NOT dating/marrying/interested in Aitana. It sure took him long enough to finally have that talk with Eloisa too. I guess we'll see tonight if he sticks to his guns or backs down.

I did have a good chuckle over Eloisa thinking she forced Max to end things with his mystery lover, when he brought her and their child to live there right under her nose. Nice nasty surprise in store for both her and Roxy.

Also laughed at Diana being forced to go see her "sick sister" while Vitto gets to play happy families with Beto and Fi.

Grazie, mille grazie sorellina mia, Vivi! ITA on Pedro:

he should have been using that time and anger to tell the whole family that he is NOT dating/marrying/interested in Aitana!

Amen! And YES, I love that Max pulled on over on the old heffa! Can't wait to see her face! She may pull a "Max, I'm comin' to join ya, honey!" Hee hee!

And serves Diana right for denying her own baby. She looked like she was going to choke watching that little family scene! Diana is going to have to rethink her strategy fast if she wants to reel in that old catfish!

That reveal will be very satisfying, indeed. However, Rox will have tantrums we will have to suffer through for at least three episodes.

I do hope Sergio will go to bat for Pedro. He owes him big time.

Given the tone of this series does anyone think we'll have a body count at the end?

Urban, that's a good question. We're sure to have some reveals on body counts in the past. The present? Man. I don't know. Granny practically promised to commit mayhem on poor Fifi last night and as she gets to the end of her run on the topside of the earth, she may becoming more ruthless. I CAN see her using Dante to put a hit on Fifi and even on Sonia if the whole paternity snafu comes to light. That is, if Assvaldo doesn't beat her to it!

Do Cinderella stories have body counts?

Lila – Thank you for the recap!

re: St. Biagio --- Early on, I Googled this to see who that is “in English”. So, I found out it is … St. Blaise! Oh my, that brought back memories of my childhood, growing up in the Catholic church, a few years at Catholic School, and the Feast of St. Blaise. . Every time Fi talks to St. Biagio, I get the visual memories of those candles crossed at my throat. For more, copy & paste:
http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=28

”Pedro says he's not going to give up so easily! He's going to fight for her! He gets back on the horse and rides away.” Not yet having watched this episode, this seems like a bit of an oxymoron, eh? So much for luchando …. LOL

That's my girl, thanks Lila

"Later in the stables a beautiful horse was either just waiting for an adventure or Pedro called ahead"

"His cocky conquistador smile drops like a rock when he hears the news"

Sergio - well Petey, first your balls gotta drop

Benito - my overalls were at the cleaners

Maximo - here put this maids uniform on, bend over and act like you're cleaning

Eloisa - Petey, don't stick that tongue out at me little mister

Roxy - just let the millionaire matchmaker do her thang

Fio - Benito, be a luv and ride this horse back to the barn

Beto - who's the bitchy blond

Vitto - Hugh Hefner

Tofie- LOL! Loved Beto's line. Ha!

I hope in the second part of the argument between Pedro and Eloisa (assuming he doesn't just slink away and pout), I hope Pedro reminds Eloisa that he's her grandson, not her husband. She seems to forget that. Max deciding to abandon his wife, grown children, and business, to run away with his lover, is NOT the same as young, single Pedro deciding to start his life with someone of his choosing. Or I guess she just wants Pedro to repeat history-- married to the socially acceptable wife he doesn't love, until one day he decides he's had enough and tries to run away with the woman he really loves.

Vivi, in the confrontation he told her he was not his Grandfather and she countered with "No, you are NOT, but you are the heir, head of the family and CEO of the Family Empire, etc." so I guess she sees Pedro as having the same position AS Max, looking only at the business side of his role in the family which is exactly how Pedro started the conversation with her: that whom he loves is personal and NOT a matter for her to dictate the who and how he lives it.

You are absolutely right though and that is EXACTLY what she is demanding he do: sacrifice himself, repeat history and enter into a loveless marriage all for the Angeles name and Empire.

Grazie Doris! for the link!

Yah, it was a little ridiculous that he rode around all day into the night and then DID give up so easily. (Yes, I know it was the filming schedule) What happened to scooping up the woman he loves onto the horse and riding away with her. Cris in Sombra learned that chicks like that kinda thing. Then, they could've eloped like Urban suggested. Ah well.

Oh, I hope you're going to watch it and do get back with us!

Ooooo, Tofie, Ragazza! Sei così cattivo! You a baaad girl. . .and I love it!

Sergio - well Petey, first your balls gotta drop

Maximo - here put this maids uniform on, bend over and act like you're cleaning

Eloisa - Petey, don't stick that tongue out at me little mister

Beto - who's the bitchy blond

Oh shoot! I'm quoting the whole list! Girl, TSIF!

Tofie. You are a barometer for our novelas. I love when a show gets to the level that it BEGS for your lists. Believe me, girl, I don't know about anybody else but it helps me get through the madness!

Mille grazie, amica mia!

Let me add my thanks, doris. I knew someone had translated St Biagio earlier, but I couldn't remember what it was.

Excellent list, tofie.

Cats are here! See y'all later!

thanks, Lila, for another lively, jivy recap of the crazy.

Tofie, girl, I love the way that mind ofvyours works!

All I can add is that Pedro looks good in blue. Yeah..that's all.

Nothing better at lunch then reading through the comments and a tofie list!!

So here's the thing on Roxy. The story goes her parents died, which we are led to believe was one of Eloisa's kids? Or did I get that wrong?
If that's the case, then did Max work with his child to be complicit in keeping the child and the woman he loved in the house. I can't see Eloisa letting Max bring this woman's child into the house as his own, even if she didn't know the woman was her new housekeeper. If his child did that for him, that may tell us A LOT about what kind of mother Grammie Monster was. As the story goes: "And her anvil grew three sizes that day...."

Wonder if that's partly why she is so on the Aitanna train? She got hooked to Max the same way? A loveless, for the family and societal acceptance marriage only? Poor Max.

I also had a really bad feeling last night thinking about that venom she played to Pedro on "going to lengths". If the business was threatened, and let's say Max didn't want to cheat out his bro Gabriel, anyone think said Grammie would have maybe poisoned said husband or did more to exacerbate his demise than just that final smothering? Something hasn't been right about that whole thing anyway.

I just couldn't, and I'm eating so trying not to go there, but no no NO! on Vitto macking all over Fifi for a baby. Oh, the slime factor would be too much.

Daisynjay

Hello Everyone! Happy Tuesday!, Lila a million thank yous for an awesome recap. I have been lurking for a while, too lazy to comment but Eloise got to me. Wish i could say I am surprised by her actions but I am not. This woman probably only found happiness in her wealth and control over every one. A loveless marriage for her meant nothing, it didn't affect her social status in any way. Her problem with Flor is not personally, its just how things are. The fact that she is tolerant of the people around her is a testament to her blindness. Years ago my son's school had a baseball game with a private school in our region, during half -time our kids decided to do their home work. A mother from the other side commented about it to her husband, and to his eternal shame, told her not to worry as "these" kids will always end up working for their kids. Thank God he was wrong. That kind of thinking is very true of a lot of the upper crust. our country clubs are full of them.
Benito is partially to blame for Flor's pain, didn't he bring the screeching one to witness the boat ride? He is dead to me. Eloise, much as i dislike her at the moment is just being herself but what was Benito's reasoning? He thinks he is in love with Flor but he knows how the Roxi- screech feels about her, so for me Benito is the one to blame. He set this train wretch rolling. Diana should stop gulping so much, she is not a mermaid out of water. I keep thinking she is going to croak. Sonia leaves me drained, the Pedro lie makes no sense.
Have a blessed day All.

Hanna

Gracias tanto, Lila! Dang, this story just keeps getting sadder.

"Fifi asks Quina to take care of Gigi and Fifi rides away!" With her heart sinking like the setting sun (shout-out to the '80s country fans!). I didn't really get why she was riding away, but I just went with it.

"Later in the stables a beautiful horse was either just waiting for an adventure or Pedro called ahead." Lol...I wonder if the stable staff had the horse prepped when they prepped Fi's. They knew this was coming.

All this drama about a DNA test...Sonia's been pregnant for, like, a minute and a half! Isn't it too early to bother?

"Diana finally gives up and leaves, her face clouded with jealousy." That was hilarious! Sorry, Diana, but Beto trumps!

Oooh, backstory about Grandpa Max! So, I guess Eloisa either doesn't know who Roxi is or doesn't know who Joaquina is, or both. Why am I not going to be surprised if she actually knew about them all along, but she's referring to some OTHER woman! Or, uh, other other woman?

"The least I will do is make sure Fiorella is separated from you like I did with your Grandfather and she will disappear from the Ranch and from your life forever!" Which, from what we know, is an empty threat. Too bad Pedro doesn't know. Maybe it's time for another chess match with Ghost!Maximo.

Hanna, with you on Benito and Fio. I don't get the whole thing. Didn't she blame him for hiding her from Vitto, where did that anger go? He gets all up in her face when she clearly states she wants to be alone so he can be a knight in shining armor but is macking with Roxy every chance. I haven't liked the dude one bit from the start and so glad Gianna got over that crush. And, what fool works in a suit, mid day, in a field even if he's just throwing straw in a wheelbarrow. Idiot.

Daisynjay- The backstory on Roxy is that she's the child of a distant relative of Maximo's who died, and Max decided to adopt her (but as his and Eloisa's grandchild, which is weird).

Previous shows, we've had to keep track of what's the real name, the fake name, the nickname on the show, the nickname on the patio...this one it's what's the real story and what's the lie that was told to cover it up.

Hey there Hanna!!! Don't lurk, you made some great points today.

Especially about Benito. I so like the actor that sometimes it clouds my judgement of his antics except to think he's being a player and ass. But that was aiding and abetting to let Roxy spy on the couple, then the whole I'm in charge when we are alone was a bit much, even with Roxy. He has a macho complex, sort of like our main galan. They are of the mind that they can do whatever, and because they declare undying love when noone else is around, the woman is supposed to fall all over herself for them. Frankly, the only male who doesn't seem to think that way is Gael. Pedro, Vitto and Benito may go as far as Osvaldo and Anibal, but they are all on branches of the same tree their attitudes right now. Good slap up the side of the head might help Benny and Petey. Volunteers??

Daisynjay

Thanks Vivi!! As always you came through with the detail. So yeah, Max snowed Eloisa. Boy, for some reason that gives me such joy.

Daisynjay

Lila, another delight.

I saw little of the episode but was refreshed and revitalized by your vivid words and always achingly perfect descriptive phrases.

"Osvaldo comes in looking for Sonia and she flops over like a rag doll in a fake faint" and "Later in the stables a beautiful horse was either just waiting for an adventure or Pedro called ahead" were but two of my favorites.

"If Eloisa says Aitana is going to be with Pedro, that's because that's the way it will be!" Eloisa's metamorphosis from shrewd to evil incarnate has been mind blowing. But, have the depths of her depravity been revealed or is there more to come? I completely underestimated what a terrible force she is.

"Benito - my overalls were at the cleaners" - great line tofie. I was completely flummoxed at why Benito appearing to be working on some kind of machinery in the field. What exactly does his role as chauffeur entail? ;)

I'm confident Sonia will come up with something for the test...

Whatever would Osvaldo and Roxie do if they had to actually wear a neutral expression or heaven forbid actually have to smile? Now, that I'd like to see.

Diana

Benvenuto, Hanna! Grazie and glad you're joining us on the Patio!

ITA about Benito taking Roxi to witness their kissing in the almost-sinking boat of love! How accurately metaphorical THAT turned out to be! Yes, that did set the ball rolling for Aitana to be informed and she and Granny to plot to usurp Pedro and Fifi's announcement. I wondered what was the point of having Benito chase down and comfort Fifi after she left the Ranch on horseback? He's just Roxi's face-sucking little boy toy slave, why is he still sniffing and sniffling over Fifi. It's NOT endearing and makes me really dislike him!

Hanna, I loved how you dressed down Diana, Sonia and Pedro and then asked us all to have a blessed day! Hee Hee! You, too, and keep hanging with us on the Patio!

Diva! Capitana carita! Grazie, mille grazie!

. Why am I not going to be surprised if she actually knew about them all along, but she's referring to some OTHER woman! Or, uh, other other woman?

Hmmm, hadn't thought about that, Diva!

Thanks for lightening up Granny's threats, Diva, and I agree:

Maybe it's time for another chess match with Ghost!Maximo.

Hey, what if Granny was the mastermind of all the dirt, poisoning the relationship between the two brothers thus setting up Gabriel for the swindle and the eventual hit?

If Pedro does play chess again with Ghost!Maximo, I want to hear HIS side of the story of the side chick. I want Pedro to get more reassurance from him as he told him once before that the Queen is the most important card.

Ewww. I hope Ghost!Max wasn't talking about Eloisa!

:/

Ciao,Diana, mille grazie, bella!

Eloisa's metamorphosis from shrewd to evil incarnate has been mind blowing.

You said it, sorellina! What a piece of work. She even used an apt dicho referring to herself: Mas sabe el diablo por viejo

I feel momentarily heartened by Diva's assessment that Eloisa's threat is empty but I don't know, the old girl looks like she could kill you while looking in your eyes grinning with those weathered fence post teeth of hers!

Yikes!

Eloisa clearly holds out some resentment for Rox's mother and I don't think she knows that's Joaquina. If so, she'd be about as cold as Alice Grenville. Assvaldo Sr was the same kind of jerk his older son became. Gael is nothing like them and neither is Sergio.

Maybe Sergio is Gael's biodad and he isn't the son of Eloisa because he's nothing like her. Wouldn't that be a kick in the head?

Diva - I know! Sonia can't be that far along in her pregnancy so how in the heck are they going to do a DNA test???

What amazes me about Roxi is that, from all appearances *and* her behavior, nobody took charge of her raising. She seems to have no respect for authority, at all.

Welcome, Hanna!

From what I recall, Maximo spoiled Rox and let her get away with everything.

I'm surprised no one commented that we saw Fiorella dressed in jeans! Mint green jeans, to ride the horse. Has she worn pants before? Where did these jeans come from? They must belong to Gianna.

Maybe Sergio is Gael's biodad and he isn't the son of Eloisa because he's nothing like her. Wouldn't that be a kick in the head?

Hey, Urban, I hear ya! Going by behavior, it's hard to tell who zoomed who!

Let's see, this reminds me of two other paternity theories:

I thought Freddie might be Maximo's daughter born of Gabriel's wife, another reason he maybe wanted to get rid of him, because he (Max) had "known" Gabriel's wife, either by consent or force. This would account for Freddie's bitchiness and a motivation, besides the swindle, to get rid of Gabriel: to either keep having access to boinking Gabe's wife or to threaten her to keep quiet about the affair or rape.

Nina thought Freddie might be Eloisa's daughter fathered by Gabriel, I think she said. This accounts for Freddie's bitchiness and a motive to want to off Gabriel, again, besides the swindle, to keep the secret.

Does it make sense? Eh! They're eeevil and materialistic to the nth degree, so anything's plausible.

Now, let's throw Julieta in. Julieta's mother was Eloisa's best friend. Could Eloisa's crooked and liver-spotted hand be involved in the little lost girl nightmare Julia kept having?

Muwuahhahahahhah!

Hey, Vivi! That's right! Old Elly just stole the show!

Thank you Lila! What infuriating episodes! AUGH!

Yes, Vivi, I was shocked! It's funny, Gigi almost never wears dresses and Fiorella wears nothing but.

This family should make Roxi glad she's kind of adopted (though, ironically, she seems more like Eloisa than all the rest, at least in terms of how much she loves being an Angeles)

Maybe Aitana and Pedro do belong together. In the last episode or the one before Aitana claimed "this is war!" but all she's done since is run to Granny E and beg Pedro like a pathetic puppy.

I'll give to Pedro that Sonia popped up and then Fiorella went missing, so maaaaybe the conversation with Eloisa had to wait. But it was a ridiculous conversation when it happened! None of her arguments make legitimate sense. "Your grandfather had an affair so you can't marry the maid"?! I need Pedro to counter than one has nothing to do with the other. How did her keeping Maximo from Joaquina save the family fortune anyway?! I can almost get it: he's having a midlife crisis, maybe he's going to do something crazy with the company too. But why would anyone care if Pedro married an random Italian girl that wasn't known to the society papers? It's really not that big of a scandal.

Just finished watching the episode. It doesn't take long when I FFWD-> thru all the screaming and crying.

My one big question is ----- When did Fiorella learn to ride a horse???

Vivi - I do not remember ever seeing Fi in pants of any sort.

Hellashelle Yaaay! Grazie, amica! Hey, I'd forgotten this and you make an excellent point:

Maybe Aitana and Pedro do belong together. In the last episode or the one before Aitana claimed "this is war!" but all she's done since is run to Granny E and beg Pedro like a pathetic puppy.

Random Italian girl = big scandal in Eloisa's aged mind.

What I still don't get is why it wasn't a scandal when scarecrow (Aitana) dumped him at the altar?

Is she worried about what friends would think? There's another question begging inside THAT question: What friends? All she does is sit around a carp at her "family" all day and worry about who's stroking Pedro's fibers!

Doris! HA! Maybe she learned in Italia! Or maybe a woman scorned spontaneously and instinctively gains equestrian skills. That and the fresh country air!

Hellashelle, that makes total sense. But the answer likely is that since their money is probably not Old Money, Eloisa is afraid that any backsliding might keep them further away from being part of that world.

Lila - so many theories!

No, I think your theory makes sense, but Nina's wouldn't work b/c how would they have hidden Federica's maternity though? She knows(thinks?) Gabriel is her father, so she can't be Eloisa's daughter, she could only be Maximo's.

OMG!!! If Eloisa had a hand in Julieta's baby scandal...?! No. No, I don't believe it...Well, maybe...oh man, now I'm on the fence.

If they want to sell this "it's a huge scandal that he's marrying someone we don't know thing" they need to tie it to the company WAY better than they're doing now. Is the company a family company that's big on traditional family values? Is it's motto "All Mexican forever" or something?" Are they're main shareholders all Eloisa close and equally close-minded friends? Are they on the brink of financial collapse because of something Pedro/Ovaldo/the economy did?

Without this, I don't see why a prenup wouldn't suffice if Eloisa's all that worried.

It's more about control than anything else. Could it also be that a person who is capable of falling in love is regarded by Eloisa as someone who is out of control? Or beyond the control of a (theoretical) higher authority?

Hella, the stuff about the business is so vague. Maybe it's just me but I don't know what their product or service is, there have been very few serious business-based scenes in El Corporativo, mainly family drama ones. I don't know. What if more of a focus goes on the business now that Freddie's going to work there? Goodness knows they've got enough shows left to develop that side of the story more!

Hellashelle- I think it's more like "All RICH Mexicans Forever." Although Aitana is Spanish, so it's more like "All Rich Snobby People, Forever."

Well, she hasn't raised this crazy fuss over Osvaldo and Sonia. But I suppose that's because Sonia was pregnant at the time. Though she seemed to think Sonia faked it (which is surprising because I would've imagined she would have insisted on going to the doctor and getting the results herself.)

I guess this really is this is the first time anyone's tried to marry someone she didn't approve of when the Angeles bloodline hasn't been at stake.

...Still don't care. She's a nut job and when everyone finds out that Roxi is Maximo's child with the maid and Fiorella is her good friend's child with a rich Italian, she's probably going to have an actual heart attack.

Lila - exactly. Which is par for the course with traditional fluffy TNs, but it doesn't make it clear why Pedro's love life puts the family fortune on the line. I have to say, I think Roxi's drunken, elitist antics seem a lot more damaging because she keeps bringing up the family name and seeming extremely low-class the whole time.

Vivi - word. I was just thinking maybe it was about Pedro marrying someone that wasn't Mexican, but I forgot that Aitana's from Spain. Besides, they're in business with the Italians, so what's the problem?

Lila, this was a very informative recap.
It appears that granny has claws, evil claws.
what did she do to the woman that Maximo was having an affair with?
And Pedro is right, he is not his grandfather, he is not married to a aitana, he's not having an affair with fiorella. She has let the title of
Being the family matriarch go to her head.
She is a controll freak. you cannot control a persons heart for the sake of what society needs to see. I don't like this ol b-----. This
Wont fare well for her. If she keels over I dont
Care, shes wrong. Fiorella is a better woman
Than she is. And you know what, that woman that she kept her husband from going out with is probably somebody just like aitana. Somebody she wants her grandson to get messed up with. she need to go sit her gray behind in a rocking chair and look out the window and stop trying to control other peoples lives. I really can't stand this person.
she is much as threatened Fiorella's life, now what is he going to do about it!

Nina - I think general consensus right now is that "That Woman" is Joaquina, the maid that loves Roxana's like a mother.

But yeah, she's a total control freak. There's no one she respects (much like Roxana), so there's no one who can change her mind. And even if Pedro tried for the "this is about my happiness. How can you betray me so thoroughly and make me miserable" because all evil TN matriarch's think that they know best and the kid will one day thank them. What he really needed to say when she told him to she's leader of the family and knows best is "Um...have you seen the family lately? I think we need new management."

Nina! Grazie, amica! I love how you just put it out there, Nina. Your way of expressing yourself feels very familiar to this girl with southern roots:

he need to go sit her gray behind in a rocking chair and look out the window and stop trying to control other peoples lives.

Ha! Ha! Love it. Thanks, hon!

Great comeback for Pedro, Hella!

Pedro is the reason why Fiorella has a sad broken heart, he stood right there and let his grandmother upend whatever it was he was going to say. His spine went limp. Now he thought he had to fight before, now he's going to have to fight and potect her life too.because that old biddy threatened her life. she never came right out and said that she would harm her, but what she did say, it kind of made you go in that direction of thought. she sounds like a mob matron.

Miss lila, I do have southern roots. I'm right here In north Florida baby, born and raised.
Florida don't seem like a southern state to me. More like a tropical island, surrounded by water. That's probably cause Im near the
Coast. Pedro should kidnap fiorella like cris
Did aldonza on sombra, and bring her to the
Coast.

Ahhh, sounds lovely, Nina! I agree with you on Eloisa: she sounds like a mob matron.

Well, 45 minutes and we'll see what the old girl will be up to today and what Pedro's going to do about it!

Thanks to everybody for a fun weekend, Monday and Tuesday on the Patio!

Thanks for the recap Lila and a belated one for last Friday's. You made an unwatchable episode watchable.

Is it just me or does anyone else want to slap Eloisa too? Her explanation for why Pedro shouldn't be with Fi does not make sense. If Maximo was going to leave her for someone else, why does she talk about him with so much love. The man cheated on her. How was he leaving her going to ruin the family fortune? Isn't it only going to ruin her because she married to the Angeles family, so the money doesn't technically belong to her. He could have easily divorced her and married the other woman and still have his family fortune. At this point, even Freddie is more preferable to Eloisa. At least she is acting batshit crazy because she thinks Maximo and Eloisa has something to do with her father's death.

Urban Anthro, you made a great point. "Pedro needs to challenge Eloisa. If necessary he should question her competence and demand a hearing. If Assvaldo can marry a slutty lounge singer he should certainly be allowed to marry a virginal maid. In fact, Pedro and Fiorella should just elope. He has enough business knowledge to start a company."

I was waiting the entire time they were arguing for Pedro to say he will quit or something, but he still is scared of her. I would love to see Pedro take this to court - the writers can find a way to make courtroom drama. How did Assvaldo and Sonja's marriage get approved anyway?

Thank you for the recap Lila. You had a good theory about Eloisa making Sonia lose her first baby but doesn't she always complain that she wants great grandchildren. That baby was her great grandchild unless Sonia cheated on Osvaldo and made him believe that he was the father when it was from another boy just like she is lying now to Pedro and Fabio. I don't think that Sonia had an abortion because in some scene she told Osvaldo that the baby died and in another scene he told Eloisa that the death of her baby was horrible so maybe her baby was borned dead or died of a disease after borning. Perhaps she didn't have a very nice or calm pregnancy with that horrible husband and this new pregnancy neither seems to be a very good one with Assvaldo wanting to do a DNA on her and Sonia complicating her situation making Pedro think that he is the daddy of that baby.

Mille grazie, Caroline! No, girl, we've got a whole line up like in the movie "Airport" of people who want to slap Eloisa!

Maybe Eloisa feared Max would divorce her, marry the young chippy, disinherit or unfairly share the Empire with the other woman's offspring who would then, not being educated, high class folk, squander away the fortune on whatever "uncooth, underclass" folk in those parts throw their money away on.

Maybe in a flashback it will come to light that the money came from HER side of the family. Maybe she made Maximo the "Great Captain of Industry" that he was.

I'm sure the points and questions you raise will be things we will chew on in upcoming episodes here on the Patio!

Hey, Marla! Grazie tanto!

You had a good theory about Eloisa making Sonia lose her first baby but doesn't she always complain that she wants great grandchildren.

Marla, if Eloisa is that evil to poison a pregnant woman, her desire for a great grandchild wouldn't stop her. She would justify it in her mind that the mother was a "lowly lounge singer" and I bet Granny absolutely would also doubt that Osvaldo was the father. With what Sonia has shown us of her behavior, seems a good chance that Ozzie was not that baby's daddy either!

Oh well, we'll pick these things up and other events, on Diva's watch!

Thanks again, y'all!

Oh Caroline you made a good point about Sonia and Osvaldo's marriage. Maybe Eloisa and Max allowed Assvaldo to marry Sonia just because she was pregnant or well Assvaldo was in love with her that he didn't care what his grandparents say and decided to marry her despite of them not accepting her or he was drunk when he did it. He is very different from Pedro, in a scene he didn't even care flirting with Alina in front of grandma and most of the time he acts like an inmature and impulsive teenager.

I would say the most likely scenario, based on what the characters have said and what we know about this family is that Sonia was actually pregnant and was only allowed/forced to marry Osvaldo because that was in some way medically confirmed. It would not do, in a family this snooty, to have a child out of wedlock and not be able to control said child's mother and keep her from creating further scandals. Better to bring her into the fold, however unsuitable, and be able to keep an eye on her up close. Then she lost the baby, but he couldn't divorce her because divorce = scandal. They're all stuck with each other. If Eloisa conveniently forgets, or accuses Sonia of faking her pregnancy, I'd chalk that up to her being a horrible person and not making an accusation based on the facts. That little tart snuck her way into the family and now Eloisa can't get rid of her...I wouldn't trust Eloisa to say anything true about Sonia, no more than I would trust her to say anything true about any of the rest of the family.

Except Pedro. Her obsession with controlling every aspect of his life is totally real.
