Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse #68 Fri 11/27/15 (Mex 97) Italian Stallion 2.0 to the Rescue?

Ciao, Muchacha Peeps!  Here's your Friday night and weekend offering.  Some scenes have been combined, hopefully for better flow and clarity.

Fiorella offers to go with Pedro and Sergio to the columbarium where lie the remains of Pilar, Pedro's Mother and Sergio's Wife.  Fidel helps the still disoriented Sergio and all three exit the foyer, Freddie has listened and spied on them.

Helloisa fires Benito after reminding him how he has violated the cardinal rule of class separation and forgetting his place in the Angeles household.  Roxi rushes out and throws herself between Benni and Helloisa and begs for clemency.  It's all her fault!

At the columbarium Fiorella tells Pedro that thinking of his Mother makes her think of Tania and that it must be hard for him to know they had the same problem.  Pedro says Tania had the problem when he met her and he had hoped he could save her from herself but it was foolish because he couldn't even save his own Mother.  Fiorella steers the conversation to something more positive.  She thinks Pedro's Mother would want him to be happy.  She tries unsuccessfully to get him to promise that he will be happy for both of them.  Sher thinks he can be happy with Aitana.  He suggests she go back to the car, he wants to spend time with Sergio who is weeping piteously.

Assvaldo confronts Gael who is on his way out to meet Gianna.  Assvaldo's tone is bullying and arrogant as usual.  Gale lies that he's going to an appointment with Alina.  Ass boy insists on going with him.

Vito and his nephew, Gianluca (Luc), share a glass of wine in Vitto's office and  Luc asks about his fiance.  Yes, she is young and beautiful just as Luc had heard.  Ah, what can you expect of a Dragone!  He invites Luc to observe and learn from Master Mac Daddy.  They toast and share a man hug.

Assy and Gael arrive at Alina's office.  At first she is surprised to see Gael but catches on quickly and plays it off, inviting Gael into her office.  After Gael enters, Assvaldo lingers outside to suggestively hiss to Alina that she'd better make an appointment with him and not to reject him or she'll find out what he's capable of.

Luc and Vitto continue to drink and Luc is very upfront and asks if this pretty young thing might be after his money.  Oh no, she's fine and noble, the daughter of an OLD friend.  Just before he died, he asked Vitto to take care of her and her sister.  Besides being in love, they have a moral obligation to marry in honor of his late friend, her Father.  Luc volunteers to go with Vitto for the final wedding dress fitting.  He'll save Vitto tempting bad luck by seeing the dress before the wedding.  Methinks Luc is very sharp and is taking the opportunity to check out who is leading whom to slaughter.

Diana visits slimy Anibal in prison again and demands he stop calling her home or her cell.  He calls her out:  she must have another man!

Back at El Rancho, Santino and Julieta talk about their failed marriages.  Julieta survived much emotional abuse from her ex's flagrant cheating.  Oh, but she looks damned good for having had such a hard life.  She feels renewed with her relationship with Sergio.  He has his issues, but he has a good heart.  Santino hopes it isn't permanent:  he swoops in, tells Julieta he's dreamed of her all these twenty years and hoped that they could try again and he fastens his mouth over hers quicker than a cat can wink his eye!  Aitana rounds a corner and takes in the whole scene.

Gael continues with Alina.  He talks about all the other members of his family are strong, hearty and ambitious but he's the opposite.  Alina brings up the nice man in the park and wants Gael to think about if it was strange that Assvaldo was never included in these outings.  "Wouldn't it be strange if the nice man in the park was more than just a distant relative?"  Gael looks at Alina with wide, clueless eyes.

Uh oh.  Ass boy finds Giana waiting for Gael out on the edges of the garden.

Again at El Rancho, Roxi continues her tearful begging to Granny in her room, even dropping to her knees before her.  Rox confesses that she loves Benito.  Oh, is that so?  Well, why doesn't she go live at his house. . .minus all the luxuries of Rancho Los Angeles.

We return to Pedro and his Dad. Sergio's distress is in stark contrast to the soothing gurgling of the cascading waters in the cool, marbled hallways of the columbarium.  Pedro wants to ask some questions about his Mother.  Sergio tells him he may ask anything.  Pedro asks Sergio exactly how did his mother die.  Sergio's tears start again as he descibes having been on a partying and boozing binge for several days.  When he finally awoke, his Father, Maximo told him that Pilar had died.  She'd had a crisis and overdosed on pills and alcohol.  Her body couldn't take it and she died.

Luc has finally gone into the back where Fiorella is in a lovely wedding dress.  They look at each other, recognition dawns immediately on Fiorella's face as Luc calls her name, "Fiorella!"  Vittorio has forgotten about the bad luck thing and come to the back where he takes his dark shades off in shock that his newphew and Fiorella know each other!

Back with Sergio and Pedro.  Pedro was very little when his Mother died but he has a few blurry, isolated memories.  Pedro says it's strange but there is a memory etched in his heart and mind more clearly than the moment when his Grandfather told him his Mother had died.  [POSSIBLE ATROCITY ALERT!]  His Mother and Grandfather had a terrible argument the night before she died!  We see a flashback in which Pedro doesn't look all that tiny to me, he looks all of at least ten.  Anyway, we have a black and white scene of Pilar and Maximo going back  and forth, he accusing her of being a drunk and neglecting Pedro, she denying it.  I think I heard Pilar say that Maximo wanted her to die.  Anyone else feel free to add in bits you picked up from the argument.  All Pedro remembers is they were very angry!  Back to the technicolor present, Sergio says that Pilar and Maximo never got along.  Maximo didn't like her addictions and was constantly riding her about them.  Sergio remembers she was the only one that dared raise her voice to Maximo.  Pilar was never afraid of anything.  With admiration Sergio says Pilar had a big heart and he loved her strength and assertiveness:  If any of the employees was treated badly at the Ranch, she was the first to speak up and defend them!  Sergio wonders what she and Maximo could have been arguing about.  Pedro is not sure, they decide to go home.

Well, there in the back of the bridal shop there is one awkward moment after another, as long as a bridal train as Luc and Fiorella explain they were novios and Fiorella discovers that Luc and Vitto not only know each other but are uncle and nephew.  Vitto can't believe how small the world is!  How is this even possible goes the old coot!  Vitto is warned that he's courting bad luck. . . .Vitto is like to heck with that, it's bad luck that his fiancé is the former novia of his nephew!  Luc announces he is sure that Fiorella loves him and suggests they leave so she may get dressed and the two leave.  Metiche dress fitter dude asks who is she going to stay with; the nephew or the uncle!

Remember Santino hoovering Julieta's lips into his?  Well, he broke that lip lock and Julieta explains in civil but no uncertain terms that her relationship with Sergio is serious; seeing him did stir many memories but she's happy with Sergio and the only connection they have is their daughter.  Santino apologizes and excuses himself before reassuring Julieta they will see their daughter again.

Poor Gianna doesn't realize Assvaldo is casing the opportunity for his attacking her at some point in the future as he asks how often does she walk, does she walk alone.  She is gracious and even smiling as she answers his questions but the smile drops off when he asks if she ever walks with a boy.  Yes, Benito.  He insults her by asking if she is also going with the chauffeur.  He thinks her eyes say she's in love.  Who is she waiting for?  She answers Fiorella.  He says Fiorella has forgotten her.  In a thinly veiled pretty much bare naked threat he says that she shouldn't go too far from the employee's quarters, alone.  She could have one of her crises and there would be no one around to help her.  Does she understand?  She nods.  He cynically tells her to take care as he leaves.  I hope Gianna will believe now that Gael is NOT a coward!

Dante is overbearing and threatening as usual as he tries to put Benni out of the ranch.  Roxi flies in, throwing her arms around Benni's neck, begging him not to leave.  Jerky Dante growls that he'll give them two minutes.  They ignore him as Benni pledges he'll find a way for them to be together; he'll do whatever it takes.  They kiss.  In what seems like thirty seconds Dante bursts back in, breaks up the kiss and puts Benni out.  Sergio and Pedro enter with great concern and Roxi tells them what happened:  Benni was fired because they are novios!  She asks Pedro to intervene with Granny!

Alina wraps up her impromptu session with Gael.  She encourages him to examine his memories of the nice man in the park, they could be a key piece to something very important.  This makes him remember Gianna and he ends the session and runs out of the office!

Pedro doesn't have any luck with Granny.  She's tired of yet another "love story" between her family and the servidumbre:  Him and Fiorella; Gael and Gianna and now Roxi and Benni.  Nobody will make her change her mind!  She tries to turn the conversation to him and Aitana and gloat about how she was right about her being The Right One for him.  He ignores the comment and leaves.  He tells a tearful Roxi waiting outside that he struck out with Granny.  Sorry.  They hug, Roxi cries.

Sergio is prepared to beg Julieta to forgive him but she does so very quickly much to Sergio's relief and surprise.  She repeats to him what she told Santino:  the only link between them is their daughter and he has offered to hire someone to help look for her.  Sergio relaxes and decides to trust that Santino is not after her, so it's ok with him.

Adela abuses a pillow stand-in for Helloisa in anger of Benni's firing.   Typical hijinks in Benni's family as they try to guess and then Benni finally tells them the real reason:  He and Roxi were going together and Granny found out and fired him.  If you really want chocolate or booze, he did utter a FFOL (fight for our love)-- or does it only count if Fifi and Petey say it?  He's going to fight if he has to fight the whole Angeles family!!

Aitana calls her Father, Benigno, with the juicy tidbit about having seen Julieta kissing the Italian dude, Santino.  Benigno thinks she needs to avoid causing problems with her new family but to hang on to the information in case she needs it someday, you know, to leverage some information or as blackmail.  He wants her to keep investigating the Father of the Italian girls.  Aitana says she did and no one with the name Bianchi ever worked in in ACorp.   He thinks that is precisely why she needs to keep investigating:  [THREAT ALERT!]  Benigno doesn't like one bit how Pedro and Fiorella look at each other.  They need to get her out of the way!  Aitana agrees but. . .oops, gotta drop:  a teary and snotty Roxi approaches, wailing over the departed Bennie!

Finally, let's wrap up the wedding dress try on fiasco, or victory, depending on whose side you're on.  Gianluca has observed the mutual shock between Fiorella and Vittorio that his presence has occasioned.  He smoothly reassures his uncle that he is no threat while Vitto has jumped to that conclusion and told Luc to his face that he, Luc, and his youth, is a threat and has spoiled all the hard work he has put into wooing Fiorella and winning her heart.  Vitto repeats more than once that the whole situation is a tragedy!  Meantime, Samuel, the metiche dress fitting dude is openly questioning Fiorella as to what she's going to do now and who is she going to choose, Italian Stallion 2.0 or Ready for the Glue Factory Mack Daddy.  This gives Fiorella a chance to repeat for the umpteenth time, say it with me now. . . "I'm going to marry Vittorio!"

When all three are together back at La Dolce Vita, Luc suggests Vitto and Fifi are too uptight.  They should have a positive attitude.  He hasn't seen either for many years and it's clear now they're both happy!  Domingo, about the only person who works in this piece, comes in to summon Vitto to attend to a client.  As soon as Vitto leaves Luc turns to Fiorella and tells her "You can't marry my uncle.  NO WAY!"  Fifi utters "What?"  Luc is luc-king very deeply and steadily into Fiorella's eyes, trying to bore a hole through to her addled brain.

Grazie, Lila. This was complete episode # 97.

Sergio is not drunk 24/7 but binge drinking can be even more dangerous. He needs a shrink just as much as Gael does.

That flashback -- which I could barely understand -- looks like there is a vile secret that will rip into both Sergio and Pedro. If this is the case I hope they find out almost exactly when the revelation about Rox hits the fan. That might kill Helloisa and set those two guys free.

Gianluca needs a better haircut, but he's right. Not that Fiorella should marry him, just that she should not marry Vittorio, who barely seems bothered by all this. We have another seen-wedding-dress-equals-mala-suerte situation and we have to hope that all that mala suerte will be Vittorio's. And Samuel, the dress designer, is smart enough to realize that this situation is wrong on every possible level.

More tomorrow.

Lila, thank you for another brilliant recap!

"He invites Luc to observe and learn from Master Mac Daddy." Oh, he SO thinks he's the Mac Daddy! Made it even more fun to watch him freak out!

"He swoops in, tells Julieta he's dreamed of her all these twenty years and hoped that they could try again and he fastens his mouth over hers quicker than a cat can wink his eye!" Now THAT is a real Mac Daddy. Too bad she's determined to stick with Sergio.

"Well, why doesn't she go live at his house. . .minus all the luxuries of Rancho Los Angeles." You know, that actually made a lot of sense, and wasn't really all that cruel of a thing to say. Except that Rox is a spoiled brat.

So...how many minutes have we spent on "What happened to Pilar?" and we still don't have much more to go on other than "overdose"? And maybe there was something to that argument with Maximo, but Sergio pretty much explained it all. The only other thing I caught was...and I hope I misheard this...Maximo accused her of getting flirty with everyone--including him--when she's drunk/high and Pilar saying "You wish!" I've been adamant in the past that Eloisa had nothing to do with her death, but Maximo? He's looking suspicious as hell right now. And then the creep up and dies and expects Eloisa to somehow fix all his mistakes and injustices with the inheritance money he left behind? Um, yeah, ok. Whatever.

"Metiche dress fitter dude asks who is she going to stay with; the nephew or the uncle!" Lol! Yes, he was soooooo metiche!

"Adela abuses a pillow stand-in for Helloisa in anger of Benni's firing." I want to see her confront the real deal! I say have the chocolate regardless of who says FFOL, but that's just me. "I'm going to marry Vittorio!" on the other hand--definitely booze, not chocolate.

"You can't marry my uncle. NO WAY!" Finally! Someone who's making sense!

Urban, I didn't think Luca was saying Fi should marry him instead of Vitto. They way they left it sounded ambiguous to me. Though, if that's how it turns out, then he's one cool customer, being able to tell Vitto completely convincingly that he would NEVER go after Fi, and then turn around and do just that.

I'm really confused about money on this show. Are they all drawing allowances from Granny? No one has their own money at all? Don't the ones with jobs get paid? Because if I had enough to live on, even quite modestly, I would forswear my interest in the estate and get out of Dodge. That is one toxic hellhole

Terri that is a good point. Supposedly the only ones that work at Acorp are Pietro and Osvaldo. Pietro is the president but since he is in love with Fiorella he has been careless about the company and is always delegating all the responsibilities on Osvaldo who also has too much emotional problems and screws everything. Sergio depends on Eloisa and Pietro, he has never worked and only parties. I think that Gael and Roxana receive a money check from the company every 15 days (they said something in the first episodes). Federica reads the tarot but I dont think she has used that to have a living, her only purpose in life is to get back her daddys money that maximo stole from him. I wonder if Osvaldo and Gael didnt inherit money from their dad or mom when they died, their dad worked on Acorp. And Pietro didnt inherit money from her mom, well from his dad obviously no. Oh did Sergio depended on Maximo and Eloisa economically when he was married to Pilar?

Buongiorno a tutti, buongiorno a te, Urban Mille grazie, eh! I could go back and listen again but sounds like Maximo said something about Pilar being affectionate when she's drunk and she said, "Oh, you'd like that" or something to that effect. If that's true, that is truly a vile secret! Could Maximo have been sexually harrassing his own daughter in law, Pilar. Did the old lech want her. . .did it go further than wanting.....total YUCKOLA. . .I'm grossing myself out! Let me continue down the comments. See you later, Urban!

Mille, mille grazie, Diva! Thank you for confirmation of something I thought I heard in the argument:

Maximo accused her of getting flirty with everyone--including him--when she's drunk/high and Pilar saying "You wish!"

Oooh, yes, Maximo is becoming more of a tyrant, murderer and slime ball as this thing goes on. This sexual innuendo piece and knowing that she stood up for the workers, this is soooo looking NON accidental and Maximo is looking guilty as sin! I know, it could still be suicide but this DOES raise some questions!

Y'all have your marching orders from La Capitana:

I say have the chocolate regardless of who says FFOL, but that's just me. "I'm going to marry Vittorio!" on the other hand--definitely booze, not chocolate.

HA! ITA! Grazie veramente, Diva!

Hi, Terri. Don't think I've seen you here on the Patio before. Have you had a chance to read any of the recaps where this whole money issue is discussed extensively? They're all saved and quite detailed and FUNNY! Makes for great holiday reading! Ciao!

Hi, Teri.

I don't think Pedro became careless with the company and he hasn't delegated all that much to Assvaldo because the one or two things he had Assvaldo screwed up. Helloisa demoted Pedro and made Assvaldo company CEO during a deleted scene. This series has been edited so that now the equivalent of 30 episodes is missing.

I may have been the first to raise the issue of whether anyone has his own bank account. While I get that in some cultures it's normal for unmarried adults to still live in the family residence I can't see it being healthy. It allows a "matriarch" like Helloisa to queen it over everyone and make everyone march to her tune, which is what has been happening. She does not seem to care whether anyone is happy and she has been particularly hard on Pedro because he is the only one competent enough to run the family business. This is one thing (among others) that permits Helloisa to assume the right to dictate whom he marries.

Was Helloisa ever happy with Maximo? We don't know that. He cheated on her and we know she knew and didn't like that, but she was of a generation that accepted this. She doesn't seem to get that modern women don't have to. She does not yet know that Roxana is the result of one of his affairs and that could give her a stroke. We hope.

Controlling people like this fail to understand that their control prevents growth. She has enabled Sergio's behavior by never cutting off his money until he showed up at the company and worked. She did him no favors this way and I think she knows that. That's why she and Maximo raised Pedro in whom they instilled some sense of responsibility.

However, that could make her a suspect along with Maximo in Pilar's death. Without her and with Sergio useless that gave them what they felt was their right to raise Pedro.

More later.

Lila - Thank you for the recrap! We didn't learn anything new in this episode except that "Possible Atrocity Alert" and, indeed, Team Maximo and his kill count is looking suspicious.

Pedro has some serious transference issues; he couldn't save his mother so he tried to save Tania. That whole family needs a shrink and 'denial' is a river in Egypt.

Assvaldo is one scary psychopath. I thought he would attack Giana right there and then.

There is no way Gael can be Ass Sr's son. That convo with Alina was a 'Major Paternity Alert' from the writers.

Dante was NOT gone a full two minutes when he interrupted that kiss. It was more like ten seconds.

I dove for the chocolate when Beni said FFOL. Yeesh, I'll need Weight Watchers by the time this show ends.

It would be nice if Roxi actually went and lived with Beni's family. She would learn about family, love, caring, work, and bad hairstyles.

" say it with me now. . . "I'm going to marry Vittorio!"" Oh heavens, yes, totally bypass the chocolate, do not collect $200, and go for the booze. Drink! Maybe The Patio can get a group discount with Sergio at the local treatment facility.

The Benigna/Aitana "Threat Alert" is interesting. Unless the writers are throwing in a red herring, perhaps Fi's father actually did work at ACorp, knows something about the death of Fed's dad, and that's why he returned to Italy and possibly changed his name to protect the innocent. Why else would this be part of the story? (red herrings still a possibility to throw us off track)

Or to show us how stupid some of these characters really are.

I got the paternity alert when Gael first talked about the man in the park. The fact that they didn't show the man's face says that the writers didn't want to alert us as to his possible identity yet. All we saw was that he had thick, dark hair.

Like Santino had when he was younger? If so, that dude gets around.

"This series has been edited so that now the equivalent of 30 episodes is missing." Hopefully they'll edit out another 30+ episodes to put this thing (and us) out of its misery.

Eloisa probably knows more about Pilar's death than she is letting on, that witch! She referred Ped to Sergio for answers, knowing full well that Sergio was drunk/stoned/comatose/whatever .when Pilar died. Methinks Lady Macbeth ... er ... Eloisa was passing the buck and trying to get that spot off her hand. Eloisa is not to be trusted, at all.

Loved it as usual Lila!

"Sergio's distress is in stark contrast to the soothing gurgling of the cascading waters in the cool, marbled hallways of the columbarium"

I've totally ignored anything related to Petey and Fifi for a couple weeks but the Max and Pilar flashback got my attention. Hmmm, either Pilar came on to him, Max pursued her or they had a lovers spat. That argument was not one you would expect between a father and daughter in law but then this family and those sucked into the black hole have no boundaries.

Please don't have Asshole lay one hand on Gianna simply because the writers haven't the imagination to draft a real love story.

I do have sympathy for Petey, both his parents slobbering drunks and/or addicts and he was raised and lives in a bubble, a methane bubble.

Buongiorno e Mille grazie Doris!

Pedro has some serious transference issues; he couldn't save his mother so he tried to save Tania. That whole family needs a shrink and 'denial' is a river in Egypt.

HA! I love it!

Agree that they are telegraphing. . .wait, Tweeting? loud and clear that Ass Sr. is NOT Gael's Daddy!

Oh heavens, yes, totally bypass the chocolate, do not collect $200, and go for the booze. Drink! Maybe The Patio can get a group discount with Sergio at the local treatment facility.

Re Benigno being very hot to find out about the girls Father and his willingness to eliminate Fiorella to keep her away from golden goose Pedro. . .is it possible there is still an intriguing mystery in this story, something they haven't telegraphed to us? But, you're right, they could be faking us out.

Even though I have upped Maximo on the EEEVIL-O-Meter, I also suspect Helloisa knows a LOT more than she is letting on. She knows a crap load and so does Dante. Max/Helloisa/Dante, the triumvirate of EEVIL!

Tofita! Mille grazie amica mia! I am so with you on this:

Please don't have Asshole lay one hand on Gianna simply because the writers haven't the imagination to draft a real love story.

And yes, the Pilar and Maximo argument did feels like a lover's quarrel. My gosh, this family is one bunch of sick puppies! Surely the "writers" wouldn't develop this and end up making Petey Maximo's son instead of his grandson! Has anything that perverted ever happened in a novela? Okay, I'm getting carried away! Tofie, you have certainly identified a reason to feel some sympathy for Petey:

I do have sympathy for Petey, both his parents slobbering drunks and/or addicts and he was raised and lives in a bubble, a methane bubble.

Lord, where is all this going?

Thanks Lila. What a splendid recap! I'm thinking maybe we are moving to some actual interesting plot developments to get us out of the will they/won't they with Petey and Fi we were mired in.

So my guess is Eloisa did it with the decanter in the library...For all we keep learning of Max's infidelities and characters, I think Grammy was very much able to take advantage of his "secrets" and with time led the actually clan and household with an iron fist. She craved that power as much as Max craved his business and mistress dealings. But as much of a player Max was, I don't see him as a killer. I've got my money on Eloisa, eliminate anyone who messes with her perfect world...and that "death" scene where she smothers Max to hurry his end for him is beginning to make me wonder. Any chance Eloisa sped that "illness" up...I still don't understand why he died that ill at home. Now I'm intrigued.

I of course park my beanie that Fi's first love turns out to be the nephew, but it's TN law to throw a plot like that in. But if he is worth anything, he better give her some dirt on the dirty old uncle. Or have her spew her "I owe him" crap and he can realize how sick this whole marriage is. Hurry Luc, you're our only hope.

So Rox has moved from the dark side...now what? And where does Benni land? Boy needs a job. Maybe he can run Acorp? Noone else shows up daily, how much worse could he do?

Daisynjay

Helloisa killed Pilar? Not entirely out of the question. As to Maximo, unless I am not remembering this correctly he had cancer. Unless she withheld medication from him or switched it I don't see how she could have accelerated his illness. She also didn't look entirely comfortable smothering him with the pillow and she cringes at the memory. Dante was the only witness to it and I think he kept the secret out of loyalty.

Lila, I believe the scenario you describe took place in 1998 in Abrazame Muy Fuerte, which I have seen twice. The leading man married a woman who was already cheating on him with his father (whom he didn't know was his father) and they all lived under the same roof when the couple got back from three years in Europe. She resumed the affair with her FIL, which was easy because her stepmother-in-law was blind and the husband was an emergency room doctor. She didn't have much nookie with her husband so the pregnancy was likely a result of her adultery. When the time came that he learned that the man he called Uncle all his life was actually his father he still didn't know that his wife was cheating on him with him. When the paternity question eventually came up he chose not to get a DNA test and the little boy would ultimately grow up knowing the doctor as his father. Who was unaware of his own paternity until he was 30 or so. Which Pedro now is.

The cheating wife was played by Nilea Norvind, BTW.

Hey, Daisynjay Grazie, grazie!

...I've got my money on Eloisa, eliminate anyone who messes with her perfect world...

Yep, yep, excellent point. If Granny expected an inappropriate relationship between Pilar and Max, or that Max made inappropriate advances at Pilar. . .any of it, that would have been enough for Granny to off her. Wasn't it yesterday's show that Granny said, in a "sweet" understated way to Fiorella that she had better leave Petey alone or she would find out what she's capable of. I know she told Petey that. I think Max and Helloisa probably both sent a number of people to meet their Maker, to protect their perfect world!

Hey Urban! Thanks. Gosh, I should have realized that this situation had been covered in a novela before. Rape by the (potential) FIL is one level of barbarity but an ongoing affair. . .yah, TN fodder for sure.

Things HAVE gotten interesting, haven't they?

Gee, I hope Petey does not wake up to a horse's head in his bed one day.

Or a horse's ass! Plenty of those walking around the rand already though!

Unless this series takes an about-face like PEAM did, I don't think that will happen. It aired in daytime in Mexico.

* make that around the ranch. . .hate it when I try to be a smart ass and mess up my line!

Don't think what will happen, Urban, horse's head in bed?

Lila, you know, as gross as it is, we have pretty good evidence that Maximo was indeed an old lech...a trait he passed on to Os Sr., and then Os Jr. Heck, last night I could have sworn Os was about to go there with Gianna. He had that look in his eyes. Intentional, or a bad acting choice?

I agree, it could still go either way--Maximo bumped her off, or Pilar just couldn't take any more.

"It would be nice if Roxi actually went and lived with Beni's family." With you on that, doris! It could be the best thing to ever happen to her.

"This family and those sucked into the black hole have no boundaries." So true, tofie.

Daisynjay, I'm laughing at the idea of Ben running the company, but you're right--how much worse could he do? Maybe not as good as Pedro, definitely better than Sergio, quite possibly better than Os.

Urban, Santino fathering both Gael and Fi would let us check off a box on the Telenovela Bingo Card: "My half-brother is dating my half-sister." But I'm sure he was too busy being unhappily married back in Italy to be cheating in Mexico.

This series abounds in coincidences, so I thought I'd throw that one out there. It could also be a fake-out.

He could have been in Mexico on business, but now that I'm writing this down I'm sure Pedro would have remembered an Italian accent.

Vittorio made one interesting comment in this episode: "The world can't be that small." He's internet-savvy (I like that the older characters are that here) but this is where this concept hits home for him. It is also an essential element of this fairy tale (along with the Keebler Elves' Crack House).

You know what, Diva, I agree about Ass Jr. I'm sure he'd love to have a harem with Sonia, Alina, Aitana, Fifi AND Gigi. Heck, he'd probably even throw in Julieta and Diana!

What if Pilar and Maximo did have an "inappropriate"relationship, whether it was prior to Sergio or not, started voluntary or not, I could see Pilar being so bummed out about it she would begin to or increase "self-medication". I could see Max blackmailing her to continue the relationship, all kinds of nastiness. Yah, Max, The Father of Leches.

Interesting, Urban, I'm glad they have us talking and speculating again instead of just talking about how tired we are of Petey and Fifi's yo yo relationship and how weird Freddie dresses!

If Pilar and Max has a relationship, this opens the possibility that Pedro could be Max's son. Or did someone already mention this?

Urban...Internet savvy, but with zero presence. Hmmm...still fishy.

Lila, "Max, the Father of Leches." Well, they don't call him "Maximo" for nothing. He was an ass, to the max! And I still maintain it was pretty selfish (not even sure if that's quite the right word) to decide he'd been an ass and want to make up for it...but not do anything himself, just put it in his will and leave Eloisa to handle it. I mean, he's met Eloisa, right? Why would he think she would have the same change of heart? And why didn't he just leave some specific instructions about who he had wronged and what he felt he owed them instead of being all vague about it?! Creep.

doris, If Pedro was Maximo's son, that would make him Osvaldo's uncle. And Os would throw an epic tantrum over that...heh heh heh....

Diva, yep, already thought of that. BwaHahahahaha

Could Eloisa be the on,y person who knows what was in Max's will? And be putting her own spin on what it says?

Vaya! I really need to get off the intertubes and get some housework done. Ack

From what I remember, the "will" was very short--Eloisa is the executor, and she gets to distribute everything as she sees fit. The letter from Maximo where he said he and El made a lot of mistakes and he hoped El would distribute the goods in a way that would make up for that, plus he hoped everyone would live together at the Rancho for a year, was just a letter. Nothing legally binding. Any of the family could have opted to go back to wherever they were living before. And living there now doesn't mean they're going to get anything from Eloisa. It's all up to her.

Thank you, Lila, for the fantastic recap and the great vocab! (columbarium! who knew) Glad I stuck around because it looks like we'll finally get some plot movement! Whoohoo!

Doris-that was my first thought when Pedro had the flashback! I think I'm primed to want someone besides Sergio and Roxana to have higher claims on the Angeles "empire." My other thought on the matter is that Eloisa was older than Maximo. But that might just be because we've seen her more. I like to think there's was a more or less arranged marriage, she caught feelings for him, he didn't reciprocate and his philandering is why she warns everyone against following their "passions".

Great, yet another reason for paranoid Vitto to get even crazier! I wonder if Luc's gold digger theory will linger or die now that he knows Vitto's marrying Fi and also if he'll be helpful or harmful in the short and long runs. I could definitely see him causing trouble before helping out. Ooh! Maybe he and the Sea Witch will fall in love at first sight and make it an easy out for all in the end?

I also got that creepy vibe from Osvaldo when he was speaking to Gianna, but it was outweighed by his homicidal vibe. Either way, dude is a monster.

Eloisa was threatening Rox last night with cutting her out so I'm sure she uses the nuclear option frequently.

Well if Rox is Max's daughter then Petey could easily be Max's son and why he took an interest in him.

I must keep reminding myself Max told Dante to kill his own brother.

I wonder if there is a Max/Anibal connection

Ciao! Taking a break from chores and such!

Doris at 1:44, yep, I thought that Petey might be Maximo's son instead of grandson. I realize that just because they imply something doesn't mean it'll pan out, but they went through a lot of trouble to even script a flashback complete with damning dialogue. Well. I guess we'll see!

Diva. Word on Maximo. A lech, monster and asshole on top of that!

Ooh! Maybe he and the Sea Witch will fall in love at first sight and make it an easy out for all in the end?

Grazie, sorellina Hellashelle! Yeah, girl, we're finally getting something to chew on!

HA! Sea Witch! That's great! I think Benigno would hang her up by her hair if she tried a stunt like that! He wants Aitana to have matrimonial hooks in Petey!

Only if he goes through with the marriage to Aitana!

Oops, I meant Gael in the post from 1:17. For Gael to be an Orsini as well would be interesting. "My novio is the half-bro to my adopted sister" is nothing new.

Man, I think I would need a lineage diagram for this crew if that's the case!

Well, just make sure it's easily edit-able! Like post-it notes with each character name that can easily be picked up and moved to a different location as all the secrets are revealed :D

Oh folks y'all are great. I am shocked at your wonderful theories especially at that one of Maximo being Pietro's father instead of his grandfather. Oh no that would be so yuck but this whole family is so strange and Helloisa has recognized that his husband was an ojo alegre and surely had many affaires that it could be possible.

I agree in your opinions of Assvaldo, he is like a cold robot. Oh do you folks insinuated that he wanted to rape Gianna? Oh I haven't thought in that all neither in that he was trying to investigate her for mmm a further attempt on killing her. Oh no Gianna should better not be no more alone when doing her walks in the ranch or neither in her own room. Assvaldo already entered one time in the night in the beginning of the novela to threaten and force Fiorella to leave the ranch.

Hi Lila girl, did you and yours finish polishin
Off that turky yet? the leftovers are better the next day, which is more than I can say for these stale Los Angeleses people. Loving the recap btw. That ol bat, its the holiday so I'll try and be nice, which is not easy when it
Comes the ye ol hellion. I don't believe for one moment that she doesn't know she's insulting these people she said some of the nastiest things to their faces and expect them to accept it because she thinks she's better than they are because she's got money. and how dare she slap benito I know sometimes he gets on the nerves but he sure didn't deserve that from that bat. Fiorella should really listen to the ex and not marry
Ol uncle vitty. That ol man is evil, and fi need
To run. Run girl run, and don't run to Petey because the hairy wonder and daddy and granny got him By the balls (pardon the expression), and he Is no help at all.
Assvaldo, they can just kill him off, I have no warm feelings about him whatsoever. He's
Cold and heartless more than his nasty dad
Was. And that psych, she took a swan dive
Into a pool of sh**when she let him touch her
I'll just bet maximo killed pedro's mom cause she Stood up to him. If pedro really think hard he'll be able to remember what he heard when they were arguing. wouldn't really it be horrible if Pedro turned out to be Maximos son instead of his grandson? Their family is full of so many nasty dark secrets. Its going to be really interesting when they all start to burst and come out of that bag helloisa has
Stuffed them into. I hope you're having a safe and happy holiday!!!!!

Marla, it is for sure Assvaldo is cold, cruel and would not hesitate to kill. From the flashbacks it looks as if he is a chip off the old block, that is, just like his father! Thanks for reminding us of this:

Assvaldo already entered one time in the night in the beginning of the novela to threaten and force Fiorella to leave the ranch.

He sure did. I just hope they don't let him hurt poor Gianna in any way. Now THAT would be cruel!

Hey, Nina! Grazie, girl! Oh, you don't have to be nice to the "Hellion" -- I like that! Give it to her! The longer this goes on, Nina, the more perverse a lot of this family looks. As Tofie said, Pedro does deserve some sympathy, as does Gael, but everybody else is stankin' pretty badly!

Okay, Nina, you're hitting some good ones!

hairy wonder

And that psych, she took a swan dive
Into a pool of sh**when she let him touch her

I think we all agree this family tree is a tangled mess and they ought to be named Los Diablos!

Hello All! Lila, your royal awesomeness, thanks for the recap. I don't know how I feel about Sergio. He ticked me off with his implied move at the party. Marry the girl we want, but play with the help. That was my impression when he put Pedro and Fi together on the dance floor. He probably put Pilar through hell. Assvaldo is constantly over compensating for his inadequacies. He can't even follow a simple order. sell company stocks in parts, what does he do? He puts the whole thing out there. Bullying his brother and the servants is all he is good at. Helloisa's payback can't come soon enough. I believe she is just as dangerous, if not more than Maximo. What a pair. Is it a wonder that she is in love with Aitana? Birds of a feather flock together. Luc to the rescue. Torment the old fool and make him pay for all his lies. One can only dream of the sleepless nights he'll get. His obsession with Fi is very unhealthy. The thought of his mental anguish thinking of Fi and Luc together is delicious.
Helloisa is loosing control of her clan but she isn't aware yet. The servant's quarters seems to be winning. All her brood, with the exception of Assvaldo is chasing someone in the servant's wing. Sweet.

Hanna

Oh Hanna so you think that Sergio is like trying to give pietro the message of Ah marry with Aitana and make fiorella your lover? Oh what a jerk. Poor Pilar, she must have suffered so much with that coward.
Assvaldo is all about breaking the rules but at the same time acting as an innocent lamb. I wonder if he didnt put all the stock on sale on purpose just to make pietro mad? And well he is not flirting with the servants because he already is married to a cabaretera and harrased his brothers shrink.
Oh I cant wait the moment in which Helloisa discovers the real intentions of her dear and lovely Hartana. She is gonna cry tears of blood and throw fire with her eyes.
As to Fiorella it would be great if the writers change the typical ending and leave her with Luca, he was her first boyfriend and he is a beautiful man. Ok knowing her she would never cheat on vittorio with his nephew but just the fact of him feeling anxious with Lucas is wonderful.

Hanna! Mille grazie for your wonderful comments: I like the sentiments and the way they are expressed:

He ticked me off with his implied move at the party. Marry the girl we want, but play with the help. That was my impression when he put Pedro and Fi together on the dance floor.

EXCELLENT point! That's exactly what he was doing! That's a vicious thing to do!

Re Vittorio, the lying lech:

The thought of his mental anguish thinking of Fi and Luc together is delicious.

We already got a little taste of that, didn't we?

And this on Helloisa:

Helloisa is loosing control of her clan but she isn't aware yet. The servant's quarters seems to be winning. All her brood, with the exception of Assvaldo is chasing someone in the servant's wing. Sweet.

AMEN!

Marla, muy interesante:

As to Fiorella it would be great if the writers change the typical ending and leave her with Luca, he was her first boyfriend and he is a beautiful man.

I can't wait to see tonight what he's going to offer (besides the obvious) about why Fiorella SHOULD NOT marry his uncle!

What if there are mob connections?

I have a question that's been asked before: What is the favor Mario did Vittorio? Looking at how Mario was living before he died and how Vittorio turned out (financially), I'd say Mario got the shorter end of the stick! No, money isn't everything, but Mario didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of and left his daughters penniless, while Vitto was living in the lap of luxury. How well did Mario even know Vitto? I know he doesn't have to be shady because he's rich but somethin' ain't kosher about Vitto and the relationship between the two men.

I agree, Lila, about questioning the Mario/Vittorio relationship. I've got another question about Pedro's mother: is it possible that she is not dead? Could she have been banished somehow - bribed to stay away or sold to pirates or something of the sort? Seems like no one has first-hand information of her demise.
I'm always late to the patio since I watch this on Hulu, sometimes days afterwards, so it's hard to comment in a timely manner. BUT I do read and appreciate your always-entertaining recaps. Thank you Lila and 5 ft for all the fun you provide. Lila, today's (last Friday's) was great as always, and 5 ft, last Wednesday's was truly inspired from start to finish. You were really on a roll - especially with the fashion critiques.
Thank you both!
Ann C.

Thanks, Ann C :) Pilar still being alive...hmm...I think it's a solid "maybe." The only people who could say for sure are liars. Sergio was on a bender. Pedro's memory doesn't seem solid...he's supposed to have been there when she died, if I remember correctly, but would a child have known she was actually dead, vs. passed out? And if she had been sent away, and El/Max said she was "gone" how would he know the difference? Which would be really crappy, because that was traumatic for him to think he had witnessed his mother's death!

Agreed, Lila. How did Mario go from being the guy who could help Vitto leave the country to being the guy who had to beg Vitto for help. Maybe the various family medical expenses and his inability to work played into that?

Is it too much to hope that Luca's going to finish that sentence with "He's a vampire!"? Yeah, probably won't happen. Darn!
