Pillow Talk

Art promises to put family first. He wants the REAL things to work in his life, which confuses Nina and me. She (and me) want to know what the hell he's talking about when he says that he wants everything that is REAL to work, but now all of a sudden Art is dumbfounded as well.

Julia wakes Eladio, but then has a change of heart and doesn't want to talk to him. She goes back to sleep.

Art says that he was referring to the fact that this time his REALity is Nina and his kids. Everything else is a fantasy that blinds you. She wants to know about these fantasies. He babbles that the fantasy is imagining what the future holds. (I call BS!) He says that what is important is the here and now. Nina says that Art is her everything. Art says the only REAL thing in his life is Nina and the kids. Nina promises to get along with Miguel. (Again BS!) Art tells her that actions speak louder than words.

Franco and Marinita are hanging out. She offers her apartment since he got kicked out. Gaby calls, but he doesn't answer. He texts her back that he'll look for her tomorrow.

Gaby and Humberto talk about Franco. She tells him that she will not allow him or her uncle to ruin her life. He slaps her. She tells him to never lay a hand on her again. He threatens to tell Eladio that she is acting up. She does not care and tells him that they aren't living in the past century, and that she and Julia can make it on their own, without the help from a man.

Regina gets a call from Miguel. He tells her that Connie is back at the house. He feels like crap and needs consoling. He's going to stay at the house to keep an eye on Connie. Regina tells him to find someone else to go out with. They hang up and Regina gets back into bed with David.

The next morning Nina gets in the shower with Art and from the looks of it they do it in the shower. Good thing there's soap and water for afterwards.

Gaby meets with Franco. Gaby wants to ask Julia for help. Franco thinks it might be better if they break up.

Marinita brings Eladio all of Franco's work because she doesn't know who else to give it to.

Gaby doesn't care that Franco has no money. She loves him for who he is. She hands him a check. (Idiot). He shines his pearly whites and promises to pay her back.

Simona hands Julia the phone (Is she not allowed to make phone calls?) Anyway she calls Art and he answers, but Nina grabs the phone and wants to know who it is. Julia disguises her voice and makes up an excuse and hangs up. Art is visibly upset and Nina notices. He says he's not upset, and reminds her that his family is first.

Gaby says good bye to Franco. He calls Marinita and tells her that Gaby fell for it, now it's her turn to do her part with Eladio. He checks the stock market and then makes a call.

In Queretaro, Regina and David have a breakfast meeting. Regina is worried about the workers that stayed in Tabasco without work. David has some friends in the area that might be able to employ them. He's going to try and help them.

The Montenegro family is having breakfast. Miguel joins them. Nina apologizes to Miguel for treating him like the ugly stepchild since she married Art, and for saying he was involved with Connie. Erick also apologizes and calls him "brother".

Julia and Gaby chat. Gaby asks why Julia didn't wait and have her (Gaby) call Art? Gaby says she can call Auggie if Julia wants. Julia notices that now it's Augustin and not Mr. Ornelas. Gaby says that now they are friends. Julia tells her that she will try to talk to Eladio about Franco. Gaby is thankful and tells Julia that she needs to tell her about the fight she had with Grandpa Humberto.

Miguel thanks Nina and Erick and hopes the apology is sincere. Art gets up to leave, but tells them that he is expecting the three of them at the office. Erick assumes Art is talking about Regina, but Art informs them that Miguel is now working for the company too. Erick is upset. Miguel leaves the table. Nina tells Connie that they did this for her. So that she is at peace and her grandson is born healthy.

Eladio is working hard through lunch. Franco comes into his office.

Art gets the DNA results. He calls Gaby and leaves her a message that he needs to speak with Julia.

Franco gives Eladio some important information about some stock. He leaves. Eladio looks at the paperwork and calls someone to tell them to buy some stock from some company called FIMSA. Marinita tells Eladio that Franco left. Shall she go look for him? No, Eladio tells Marinita that Francisco will now take Franco's place. Marinita looks a little shocked.

Julia calls Art. He apologizes to her for what happened earlier on the phone with Nina. He wants to see and talk to her. He has the results from the DNA test. She tells him that she can't see him right now, but she will find a way for them to meet. Gaby will let Augustin know when and where. She thanks him for doing the test. She also tells him she has realized what she feels for him. Humberto walks in and demands to know who she is talking with. She pretends to be on the phone with the secretary from her foundation. Art gets the picture and they hang up. Humberto and Julia get into a fight.

Franco and Marinita meet outside the office. He wants his uncle to know all the work he does for him. Franco thinks that with the information he gave to Eladio, he will be begging him to go back to work. She gives him the news that Francisco is taking over his job.

Humberto confesses that he hit Gaby. Julia tells him not to lay a finger on Gaby or David. Julia threatens him, saying that if she wants she can convince Eladio to take the old man back to Shady Pines. Humberto is shaken and thinks all the women in the house are crazy.

Frnco can't believe it. He just gave Eladio vital stock information, and he still doesn't want him back. Marinita tells him to calm down. Sooner or later Eladio will realize that he needs him. Franco leaves. Eladio comes out and wants to know where Francisco is.

Art tells Auggie that Gaby will call him with details about when and where he can meet Julia. Auggie tells him about a business deal in New York. Nina walks in and hears this. She assumes she is going because she says this trip will be like a second honeymoon.

Gisela is visiting Caridad. She wants to know why her mother threw away the letter that was supposed to go to her son, Franco. Gisela claims that Franco never responds to her letters and doesn't want to hear from her. Caridad thinks it's ridiculous that her son wouldn't want to hear from Gisela because she raised him. Gisela tells her that children are in the way and bothersome, and only cause problems. Caridad can't believe how cruel her mother is. Gisela tells her she lost her opportunity when she didn't get rid of the baby like Eladio told her to do. Caridad tells her mother not to visit her anymore.

Art tells Nina that his trip to New York is for business. She thinks that's great because they can mix business with pleasure. Art tells Auggie to make the reservation for two; his wife will accompany him to New York.

Erick is with TheRat making out in the kitchen and talking about her upcoming party. He gets a phone call from Franco. Erick agrees to meet with him. He tells TheRat about it and leaves.

Nina and Dani are having a chat in public and Nina inappropriately tells Dani about her pillow talk with Art. Nina still thinks that Art had a lover, but she is going to take the trip as an opportunity to drive Art mad with passion and love.

Eladio tells Francisco that he is going to take Franco's job. Eladio wants to know if he's capable, and Francisco says he is. Francisco will still have to do his regular work on top of the new position. Francisco leaves and Eladio burns Franco's letter.

Regina tells David she is going to see Miguel. David will go see his mother and look for work. He is going to live with Francisco, but he is going to pay for half the bills. They tell each other how much they love one another. Smooches...

Eladio offers David to be his "right hand man". David declines the offer. Eladio tries to convince him saying that he needs to know the company because one day it will be his. David tells his father that his relationship with Regina is non-negotiable. Eladio tries to convince him once again, but David refuses.

Julia tells Gaby that she can't believe that her father hit her. Gaby says that her grandfather is a macho. Julia says she's had enough, and things are going to change. Gaby says she will help Julia see Art. David overhears and wants to know why his mother wants to see Regina's father.

Art tells Miguel that he knows how complicated it is for him to live under the same roof as Connie, knowing how he feels about her. Art tells him that the best thing to do is to keep his distance. Regina comes in to talk with her father. Miguel leaves. Art says he needs someone at the company that knows how to help him; someone he can trust. He asks Regina to work with him.

Julia tells David that she wants to talk with Art about his and Regina's relationship. David is thankful, but doesn't think it's a good idea because Eladio might find out. Julia convinces him that it's best to keep it from his father. David gets excited and says he's going to call Regina so they can all meet. Julia is at a loss for words.

Hey Patio Peeps!
The recap is up. Enjoy, but please excuse me if I got anything wrong or missed anything.

Have a great New Year's Eve, and HAPPY 2016!

Hasta Pronto!

Urban, thanks for the superb recap of Tuesdays episode.

Cynderella,
I hope you are feeling better. Get well soon!

Gracias Aunty Ann, super recap

The meeting of the great minds, Franco & Erick should really be sth.

Many thanks for a great recap, Aunty Ann! Hope you're having a fantastic time over the Holidays!

Continuing on from yesterday's bet on Julia's sex dream, I think she was dreaming about Eladio, or at the very least she worked up an appetite for "something" to happen between them then she changed her mind. That was so funny how she startled him awake, scorned him, went back to sleep and left him there with a perplexed look on his face!

See, I've never had family jewels, I've never been a man in this life or in my previous ones, but if I wake up in the middle of the night and find my woman, who's been hopping mad at me for 25 years, just staring at my crotch with a crazed look on her face, I'd go sleep in the guest bedroom and barricade the door!

I gotta run for now to find a cake. We have a family dinner tonight but the catering messed up and we have no cake. I don't know about your New Year's Eve traditions in the US but in Morocco there's gotta be cake! Caaaaaake! :D

I'll pop back here in a wee while. Ta-ta!

What a great recap AuntyAnn! Thank you

"(I call BS!)"

Errrr, when Humberto slapped Gabi I wanted to just....just.....flat spot the tires on his chair so it rolls like a grocery cart.

Speaking from experience Miguel, your fantasy crush never has eyes for you. You can pretend their fixed gaze has your name on it. I spent hundreds of hours as a tween and teen, alone in my room, willing my poster of David Cassidy to take me.

So Julia's big plan to finally leave Eladio depends entirely on prying Art away from his wife and pitching her out. Assuring, if during her escape she is unable to load up a truck load of clothes and jewelry, she'll find at Art's, a closet fully stocked. Good luck Art, she's a real winner.

Thanks, AuntyAnn for this wonderful recap. I won't get a chance to watch until tomorrow, most likely, so I appreciate it.

Humberto actually slapped Gabi? I ask again, why the heck is she staying in this house and not reporting this crap to her parents?

Hearing that David turned Eladio down, AGAIN, makes me chuckle. Eladio must be so confused. He berates, belittles, and tries to bribe David, tries to intimidate his girlfriend, and still David refuses to bend to his will. It's worked on everyone before. Why not David, he must be wondering.

Happy New Year, Amigos! Nandicta, go get that cake! Loved your whole comment on Eladio's lack of self preservation (or family jewels preservation) instincts.

Great recap Aunty Ann. And a very Happy New Year to you and all!!

There are times when the reasoning of some of these people just makes me head hurt. Even with my beanie on, which strangely turns itself off when dealing with this show. Think it's self-preservation.

At least Gaby is off the Franco train (which she should have been after his lack of support at the Eladio "let's throw Gaby around" party). But after the slap from the old coot, I would have just packed the bags and got out. If she had the ability to cut a check, she has money to get a place, or at the least a hotel room. Well, at least we are moving to maybe her hooking up with Auggie and we get him without Art in every scene he's in.

I can't even with Julia anymore. Or Art. Maybe they do deserve each other.

David is so darn cute. And I love he just will not fall for Daddy's plans. Sucks to be El's spawn. (Hello Franco). One lousy stock tip? That's going to get a titan of business to ask for a side kick to come crawling back? His mother doesn't seem the brightest bulb either when it comes to putting two and two together, so I'm guessing his brain genes come from her side of the family.

And Julia...just get a phone from the help and ship the old coot back to Shady Pines (lord I love that nod to Golden Girls). Let Eladio steam.

Daisynjay

Thanks, AuntyAnn. Fine recap.

When Nina snatched his phone away -- after he'd already begun talking -- and told the caller he couldn't talk now (like he's a baby), Art should've read her the riot act.

On Gabi's parents, I hope this TN isn't like Lo que la vida me robó, where the parents unexplicably never show up, even for their own kids' weddings, funerals, etc. It makes no sense that Gabi wouldn't at least call her happily escaped mom and dad and tell them what crap grandpa is pulling.

Variopinta - I too anxiously await the meeting of the two mastermind daddy-backstabbers Franco and Erick. Should be lol. Franco seems to know more about business than Erick, but who knows.

Also looking forward to the hijinks at Montseratt's birthday party.

AuntyAnne--
Your recap was as sweet as cake - NOT! It was a fantastic read as you propelled these awful characters toward an uncertain future.

I thoroughly enjoyed Julia's put-down of her dad--Oh NEVERMORE will I be a doormat to you. (Could this count one of Aunty's BS?) Because, how long can that last? Right now, she can outrun him and pull the oxygen tubes out of his nose--that would slow him down, but Eladio has the last word.

Eladio right now is feeling some pressure, both at work and with shades of Artie annoying him and will do anything to please Julia, but I don't think it will go as far as sending Hummy back to Shady Pines. He had his reasons for bringing him into the house. I don't think Eladio cares sufficiently that this turd is slapping Julia and Gaby around. Hummy was just supposed to watch Julia, so this will be a dilemma, if she asks him.

I wonder if Hummy was sufficiently technologically savvy to redial the number and see who she was calling. Hmmm and not the Hummy kind.

Oh, lordy, shades of El Tal and La Impostora with the costume party. I'll be looking for some of Sarita's outfits. Does Mont-SerRatt have any friends? How many do you think will be at this party--Aldo, Erick, and theRatt (and maybe some PapparaZZi). That's all Eladio would need to burn down her apartment.

Nandicta--I'm making a Wellesley Fudge Cake (it's so simple), but I'm not sharing.

AuntyAnn: Thank you for the marvelous recap.

I so enjoy your witty observations including "Nina inappropriately tells Dani about her pillow talk with Art". Indeed! Nina and Arturo's scenes together are bothersome. He looks like he is in a perpetual trance when "with" her as though he is going through the motions but neither happy nor unhappy. I guess he is trying to do the right thing, but his heart isn't in it. He is only into it physically. Sigh.

Right now I'm utterly focused on Julia's dreadful dad. I was happy Julia showed her anger and threatened Humberto with the only weapon that would hurt: banishment back to the nursing home. I believe you perfectly outlined why Julia's attempt to get back at him would fail Anita: "Right now, she can outrun him and pull the oxygen tubes out of his nose--that would slow him down, but Eladio has the last word."

And, is Arturo a man or a child? "When Nina snatched his phone away -- after he'd already begun talking -- and told the caller he couldn't talk now (like he's a baby), Art should've read her the riot act". Completely agree Niecie!

I wish Gaby would stop enabling Julia and try to talk her into leaving her abusive husband rather than going onto the next, trading one problem for another.

I loathed seeing Nina and Erick try to "make nice" with Miguel.

What a viper's nest.

Diana

Unfortunate it's come to it but I had no problem with Nina grabbing the phone away from Art. It was Art's crush on the other line, he had recently blindsided her with a divorce demand after belittling her for a week and her gut told her another woman was involved. There is. I doubt she used these drastic measures before because they were always loving and happy.

tofie, a very interesting comment and as always, your observations are very astute.

I'm not quite sure Arturo was happy. I could be wrong but he seemed work obsessed and his relationship with Nina seemed routine rather than one of great love. He certainly was (and is) out of sync with his children.

I agree his request for a divorce was a shock. If Nina hadn't been so terrible to Miguel and Consuelo, I would have felt sorry. I don't excuse what Arturo did and admit it was wrong to do to Nina. But I just didn't feel sorry for her. She is poisonous.

I love having these discussions. It would be so boring if we all agreed all the time!

Diana

It's been mentioned before that Nina has always been super jealous. Just seems like until now, she didn't have a real reason to be. But it's certainly justified now, even if she doesn't know it.

AuntyAnn---LOL You said excuse me if I got anything wrong. I did chuckle a little when I read --- Humberto walked in and demanded to know who she was talking to. First, Julia should tell him that it is none of his business who she talks to but
the funny part was ---Humberto walked in. I think that he rolled in as usual.

I was thinking that the breakfast was the coldest breakfast ever. I'm glad that I wasn't there. How could anyone eat or enjoy the food with so much ice seated around the table?

A Franco and Erick meeting and Montserrat's party are two reasons for
must see tv.

the gringo

-- Variopinta: Indeed, Dumbass and Dumbasser are getting together to hatch a master plan!

-- Tofie: Julia better look for a replacement economic crutch elsewhere because if Nina she finds out the pretty crier has been roaming around her hubby/plaything/meal ticket she'll literally make mincemeat out of her! Eladio's jealous fits will seem like a walk in the park in comparison.

-- Vivi: I too I'm really baffled at why Gabi is staying in that house and putting up with the way. When she wrote Franco the cheque she said that she gets a very generous "mensualidad" from Uncle Eladio. He's allowing her to live rent-free in his house AND paying her a monthly salary? Why? Why didn't the writers just make Gabi an orphaned niece? What's the point of giving her parents that we never see and that have no impact whatsoever on the story? More importantly, why doesn't Gabi leave that House of Horrors if she has managed to save a considerable amount of the money so "generously" granted by her crazy uncle?
Thanks for your good wishes! Happy New Year to you too! Que la vida te colme de bendiciones en este Año Nuevo. Un abrazote :)

-- Daisynjay: I definitely share your frustration regarding the writing. It's so sloppy and erratic, I feel bad that such a fantastic cast is being given such a poor script to work with.

-- Niecie: Looking forward to MonZorrat's birthday bash as well. I hope something interesting happens because her role in that love/lust pentagon with Erick, Consuelo, Eladio and Julia has gone nowhere really. Here's to a party that spices up the action!

-- Anita: That scene where Julia flipped out at her despicable old fart of a father was perhaps her only display of backbone to date. Loved that she scared the daylights outta him by showing him that in HER house, she's the one that has the power, not him! I personally think that if she went about it the right way, she could have Eladio throw Humberto out on his sorry keister.
Wellesley Fudge Cake... Yummy! Enjoy it, dear! "Buen provecho" in Arabic is "Sahha we hana", meaning "health and happiness". Happy Hogamanay / New Year's Eve! Espero que el Año Nuevo traiga salad, prosperidad y felicidad a tu vida. Un abrazote :)

-- Diana: "I wish Gaby would stop enabling Julia and try to talk her into leaving her abusive husband rather than going onto the next, trading one problem for another." I completely agree! Gabi has no business being involved in her aunt's marital problems or in her secret render-vous with her wannabe lover. What she should do at this point is offer support to Julia to escape the mansion and join David; being this point Julia ceases to be Gabi's responsibility.

-- A quote from the capítulo --

“¡Mejor deberías darte cuenta que los hijos a veces son un estorbo! Sólo dan problemas. Mírame a mí que lo tuve que aguantar tanto tiempo.” *

* Gisela vying for Mother and Grandma of the Decade: “You’d better realize that children are at times a pain in the neck! They only cause problems. Just look at me who’s had to put up with him (Franco) for so long.”

Darse cuenta = to realize, to become aware, to understand.

Estorbo = a nuisance, an impediment, a burden.

Aguantar = to put up with, to withstand, to tolerate

Well, that's it from me, folks! See you in 2016! Happy Hogmanay / New Year's Eve, everybody! Hope that this New Year brings you and your loved ones good health, serenity, happiness and prosperity! Much love and light to all! x x

Nandicta, you are adding so much here.

Happy you decided to start commenting.

Diana

Gracias, AuntyAnn. Good job.

Arturo is trying to fool himself and we can see it isn't working. I think he also knows it. He must have been too depressed 25 years ago not to have had a lawyer draw up a pre-nup.

Miguel sees through the BS at home; he's no dummy. It's good he'll be at the office.

However, it leaves Consuelo alone at home with Nina during the day and Nina will go back on her word before we know it.

Best thing in the episode was Gabriela and Julia confronting the old fart. If they timed it right they could cause Humberto to have a stroke and die. Imagine the gall of him to try to forbid contact between Julia and Gabriela.

The second Gabriela leaves the house Eladio's generous allowance goes away. Her parents (Will we ever see them?) aren't as rich as he is. It also leaves Julia in a more vulnerable position with or without Humberto in the house.

Thanks for this excellent nicely executed recap chock full of details, AuntyAnn. What a treat.

I didn't get around to watching either of the most recent two episodes until this morning. Thanks also to UA for your very detailed recap of Tuesday's presentation.

As I've mentioned before, I'm getting a huge kick out of Humberto. Though I didn't like that slap of Gabi, I think it's hilarious the way he lurks just out of sight and then like the Fog, silently rolls in on little cat-wheels at the most inopportune moment. Maybe they should put a bell on him. Bless his heart, no one likes him (even his own daughter and granddaughter despise him) and he's completely powerless but he manages to survive nevertheless.

Poor Nina, she's very nearly a perfect wife... beautiful, faithful, compliant, and though perhaps not the ideal mother, I've certainly known much worse. She also seems to be respected by both Petra and Augie. She certainly doesn't deserve the way she is being treated by Arturo.

I can't decide which is the ickiest, the stalky way Miguel sniffs after his brother's wife or the Augie's creepy near-pedophilic pursuit of Gabi.

Happy New Year to all... Champagne for everyone here at the Nina Table.

Carlos

How old is Gabriela, anyway? I think she's meant to be about David's age and that hardly makes Augustin a pedophile. I do wonder, though, what attracts him to someone that much younger. I also think Arturo is wondering the same.

Jarocha made a very good point in yesterday's discussion that the writers are soft-pedaling the abuse in the Gomez-Luna household. Abusers like Humberto and Eladio don't stop at verbal abuse and we just saw Humberto hit Gabriela. He must have hit his daughters years ago as well. I find it impossible to believe that Eladio hasn't done this. It's not an accurate pattern of behavior. He will burst into violence at Arturo or other men but holds the line at insults with women? It would be far more realistic if his behavior with Julia was more like Danny-Boy's with Maria Dolores on YNCELH.

I do not find Humberto amusing at all. I don't think he will be happy until he watches Julia leap to her death from the balcony.

UA,

"I don't think he will be happy until he watches Julia leap to her death from the balcony."

I'm pretty sure that Humberto realizes full well that Julia is his meal ticket and without her he'd be out on the street without a motorized wheelchair or an oxygen tube in his nose.

Carlos

I have no doubt. However, nothing anyone says or does makes him realize that abusing her will not endear him to her. Or perhaps he doesn't see women as people, which is beyond sick.

Men like him do not deserve the company of women. Julia would be better off in a convent.

Cynderella and Urban- Thank you for your recaps from Monday and Tuesday.

AuntyAnn- Thank you for an excellent retelling of last nights events.

I didn't get around to watching Monday and Tuesday until yesterday afternoon and just saw Wednesday's episode about an hour ago.

The novela is moving along pretty nicely with several things to look forward to. The Ratt's birthday bash promises to be fun, especially since it'll be a costume one. Will The Ratt be dressed up in a skimpy cat outfit? Will Erick dress up as a chimp? And what will Aldo be? Will he take off that one earring he always wears for his costume? Oh, and Artie and Nina's "second honeymoon" should be good too.

From this episode- I loved watching Julia standing up to Hummy and threatening to send him to Shady Pines. Hummy looked like he squirmed a little before storming out, err wheeling out angry. I hated Hummy slapping Gaby. I think it's time someone helps Daddy down the stairs.

A Gomez Luna and Montenegro get together should be fun. Can't wait until we get a new episode in the New Year.

Happy New Year everyone!

Urban--Remember at the beginning of this tn, we saw our beloved TBLMOE manhandling Julia with an aggressiveness we've never seen him use with women. We were all aghast at that...but we also noticed that he never actually hit her, although she recoiled as if he had in the past. I agree with you up to a point. His character may have been physically abusive toward Julia in the past, but I wonder if FC asked that it not go that far while he is on camera. Flavio Medina has been at it for awhile and abusing women may come more easily to him, as his character was in Quiero Amarte and now YoNo. Just my thoughts.

Mauricio--Escaleracide redux? It would be a fitting end to Hummmy, but we've already had one near death, so I don't think that's how he'll go. I'm surprised Eladio hasn't thought of dispatching him. He really serves no use except to rile the ladies and he'd save a lot of money if he suddenly departed this earth. (Note: I do not normally promote murder of elderly dependents.)

I can't imagine going to bed every night with someone you hate. I'm sure there is another bedroom in that house.

I'm willing to push Humberto down the stairs myself. I can't believe sweet Ciro Palofox has come to this.

I doubt Augie would be that attracted to Gabi if she strutted around in sweaters and jeans all the time. Just saying.

Augie knows Amanda, so Augie might be attracted to Gabi like he was once attracted to Amanda. Gabi might look like Amanda did back in the day.

I think Julia can hold her own against Nina. She's already done it when Nina came for her in the nail salon.

Julia should've squeezed Grumps' oxygen tube to show she means business.

Thanks , AuntyAnn, for an excellent recap of all the crazy.

Art is so whipped. Nini has succeeded on getting s firm hold on him. Whatawhimp. I just heard his theme song ..."If You Can't Be with the One You Love, Love the One You're with." What a feckless, spineless guy. I have to choose crazed Eladio over this guy. I kind of felt sorry for him when Julia touched him and woke him from a sound sleep after whatever kind of dream She had. He looked at her as if to say "Que the hell?" Has she never heard the saying "Let sleeping dogs lie?"

I cast my vote for Hum going down that staircase.I am having a deja vue moment when I see the outside of Eladio's mansion because I see Fernando in the palace from Alborada in which played Don Luis who was better than bread. Every time I see that staircase, I see Manuel, his character from Amor Real, walking down with Matilde. Manuel was a galan with a dark and violent side that made me cringe as he manhandled the leading lady , went on a long bender, and bedded the villanous housekeeper.

Nandicta, folkd who are PA. Dutch (German Americans) in my area make pork and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes on New Year's Day for good luck in the new year. Local farms used to grow potatoes and many farmers raised pigs , so that German tradition worked out fine.

Happy New Year and wishes to you all for a wonderful 2016.

So, it looks like Art is about to have all four of his kids working for him, and Eladio will have neither of his two working for him. He's going to have to do something to change that.

I noticed that Caridad has a big tattoo of a dream catcher, I think, on her left arm. I wonder if her tat and Eladio's are related in any way?

In the south, you must have pork, black eye peas, collards. I have no idea what would happen if you didn't, 'cause I always do, sometimes trading collards for other greens.
I would not want to tempt fate.

Happy 2016, beautiful peeps! Hope it's a great one for all of us! :)

-- Diana: Thank you for your kind words! Glad to have joined this Patio. I’m learning so much from everyone's perspectives and interpretations, not to mention that I enjoy all the laughs and jokes we get to share here! It's refreshing to find an internet forum where people are respectful of each others' viewpoints and where they treat one another kindly no matter how strong their difference of opinion is.

-- Carlos: Chalk me down as a fan of Humberto. Not as a character of course; he's disgusting. However, I gotta admit that Luis Bayardo is doing a fantastic job and I take great pleasure in watching him onscreen. Actually, I don't tire of repeating how much I enjoy watching all the "designated" villains in this TN: Eladio, Humberto, Gisela, Franco, Nina, Erick and Daniela. They're a deliciously wicked bunch! They provide the comic relief and they have the best lines, the most interesting subplots as well as the bulk of the "Oh snap!" and "Oh they didn't!" moments! The notable exception here is MonZorrat; the actress is really pretty but she’s pretty bad!

With regard to the creep factor, Miguel wins hands down as far as I am concerned. I think it's down to how bad and awkward the actor's performance is. I imagine he was told to act broody and timid but all he could come up with was prolonged fixed stares and constipated faces. Auggie on the other hand is not actively pursuing Gabi nor is he meddling in her life six ways from Sunday the way Miguel does with Consuelo. Yes Auggie is supposed to be a good 15-20 years older than Gabi, which is certainly a substantial age difference, but it's not unheard of for couples of this type to have a fulfilled amorous relationship. Age is nothing but a number when it comes to love. At least, Gabi is not his sister-in-law!

-- UA: During their confrontation, Julia did tell Humberto that she won't allow him to do to her niece what he used to do to her and her sister, so it was established that they got slapped around by their father when they were younger.

-- Mauricio: Loved your costume ideas for The Ratt's birthday bash! Here's hoping that this new swifter pace gets maintained throughout the novela.

-- Anita: My theory on those first 2 episodes of terrifying angry faces and deafening yelling from FC is that they were meant to shock us viewership into assimilating beyond the shadow of a doubt that TBLMOE was playing TBLBOE (The Best Looking Bastard On Earth) in PyP.
It was akin to the production team making an announcement of this kind: “Señoras y Señoritas, grábenselo bien, su principe azul Fernando Colunga interpretará a un villano en esta historia ¡Así que váyanse preparando a odiarlo!” (Señoras and señoritas, your prince charming FC will be playing a villain in this story. So get ready to hate him!) Except that the protagonist turned out so pathetic and the villain so entertaining, that we're actually getting a kick out of the bad boy's antics! Well, that's me at least. I tune in 5 nights a week to see what Eladio is up to. He's a "patán" (a scoundrel) but he's a very entertaining one!

-- Anon207: Thanks for reminding us that Auggie mentioned Amanda when he met Gabi. I got the impression that he knew (liked?) her mother and that Gabi looked like her because he seemed to recognize her as Amanda's daughter before she could even introduce herself properly. However, since then, the writers never enlightened us on the subject. Was there something between Auggie and Gabi's mom (just in case PyP needed yet another near-incestuous love affair)? Did he just admire her from afar? Looks like another loose end, I’m afraid...

-- Susanlynn: Yes on everything you said about Arturo. I welcome every deprecatory remark I can add to my list of "Why I can't stand to look at Arturo even though I adore JS".

**OT**: As for festive food traditions, the father of my Scottish ex had a German mother and he used to make bacon-wrapped bratwurst and a sweet and sour red cabbage dish called Rotkohl as side dishes for Christmas dinner. However, there is no traditional NYE dinner in Scotland or the entire UK as far as I know. NYE in Scotland, called "Hogmanay", is a multiple day celebration. In Edinburgh, it starts on December 30th with a Torchlight procession then a huge street party on the 31st, although many people choose to go to house parties or to a ceilidh (a gathering with a live band playing folk music. The girls wear fancy dresses and the guys wear their formal kilts and they dance the night away). On January 1, people would participate or watch "The Loony Dook", i.e. the crazy dip where people in nutty disguises dive into the river Forth. I've never done it myself but it's fun to attend and cheer on the madness! When I lived in Aberdeen, we would mostly go to the local pub and hang out there till the bell drops or till closing time depending of how alcohol-proof our blood became! Basically, if you're in your twenties and you live in Scotland, party time most likely means going out and "getting pished"! :D

-- Vivi: Interesting remark on Caridad's tattoo. I wonder how long they'll keep us wondering about these mystery tattoos.

-- Steve: "Arturo is the WORST protagonist ever: he always falls for Purple Lips' schemes everytime!" Could not agree more! Still, the actress playing Nina looks great even with such horrendous shades of lipstick.

-- Variopinta: **OT**: It's cool that you get to have a traditional menu for New Year's Eve dinner. In Morocco, we try to prepare something nice for dinner , there’s nothing set in stone really, except for the cake, the latter being a tradition inherited from the French colonists. The cake is basically the "Bûche de Noël" (The Yule Log Cake) that the French, Belgians and Quebeckers have for Christmas dinner, but here we have it for dessert on NYE. For the last 3 years, my family made (OK, ordered, because it's very labor-intensive) a giant seafood pastilla (about 60 cm in diameter) for NYE dinner. It's a traditional Moroccan pie made with fish, seafood, olives, peppers, pimiento and Chinese vermicelli and it’s wrapped in layers of very thin sheets of dough (thinner that phyllo pastry). Another version uses almonds and caramelized chicken. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastilla

Nandicta...wow..with a Scottish ex and all your knowledge about Scotland you must read and watch Outlander. Check out YouTube to see trailers from the first season and the upcoming one.

I do not like seafood, so put me down for the chicken version of your traditional dish.

Auntyann, thanks for the recap. fortunately I didn't get to read the recap, but I did read some of the comments and they're really good. Thanks to your good recapping.

Mauricio, "I think its time somebody helped
Daddy down the stairs". Mauricio you are so
Wicked. :-D. Eladio should have been his son instead of Julia being his daughter cuz he's just like him. Evil and abusive.

Ok HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE RECAPPERS & COMMENTERS, NEW ONES &
REGULARS.Have a safe and
Happy New Year!!!
