Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #117, Wednesday 12/30/15: Babies and Betrayals

Happy New Year, Patio Peeps!

The Old: Marcia tells Monterubio that he has to help her fend off the Santibañez, Max, MD, and Claudio. If she falls, they BOTH fall. Claudio tells Orlando that he thinks Josefa was behind Isela’s fall and he’s launched an investigation. Dan tells Ursula and Ivana that he’s NOT giving up his baby, not for all the money in the world.

The New:
Dan says that his daughter is all he has and he’s not giving her up. Ursula and Ivana are livid. Ursula reveals she already knew what he has been saying in rehab about having both his daughter and MD, and that he was going to betray her. She’s caught off guard when Dan reveals what HE’s learned from Arango. Ursula and Arango faked a will with a false signature after Hector died, leaving everything to Ursula’s administration. In reality, Hector’s real will left everything to Dan and Maleny (and nada for Ursula). Now that Maleny’s dead, all the money goes to Dan and Almita. Ha! As of now, Dan’s in charge, and he’s changing the admin on all the accounts from Ursula to himself. Ursula tries to guilt trip Arango for betraying her (again), but he already heard from Dan that she was planning on kicking him to the curb soon. He just got the jump on betraying her first. Now, Arango works for Dan.

Claudio and Orlando continue to talk about Isela and the baby. Orlando clarifies that he no longer loves Isela as a woman, he’s in love with Doris. But he still loves Isela and is willing to fulfill her last wish that he take care of her daughter. Claud admits he understands. He continued to love Alma (although no longer “como mujer”), and he continues to be in love with Isela. For that reason, he will accept her last wishes. But he wants to help with the expenses. He has no idea what will happen to his career, especially after the truth comes out about all his misdeeds, but he has a good pension and with that he can help Orlando take care of Isela and the baby. Orlando lets him know about the insurance Isela left behind for the baby, but Claudio still urges him to think about accepting his help too.

Clara is still outside Alma’s bedroom where Leo is holed up, speaking on the phone to Max. He’s outside of the prison walls and has just broken the news to Clara about the baby. Clara knows this will be a hard blow for MD and sends her love to MD via Max. She returns to the bedroom and tells Leo she will be staying to take care of him and make sure he eats, per Max’s request. Leo snipes back about her discussing indecent proposals on the phone, which is the last straw for Clara. She picks up her backpack and reminds him that although what he’s going through is horrible, other people have problems too. She leaves, and Leo quickly regrets his remarks and attitude and runs after her.

In front of the door, Leo apologizes to Clara for the way he treated her, tells her about the wise advice Max gave that real love is accepting and loving the person with both their virtues and defects, and tells Clara he loves her. They make up with a tearful hug and kiss.

Corina comes to the hospital to see Orlando, to tell him why Doris isn’t there with him (she’s comforting Esperanza after the Almita debacle), and to chew him out for letting both his business and Doris suffer while he cares for Isela. How does he expect Doris to suddenly become a mother when the two of them haven’t even had sex yet? LOL! Orly is embarrassed as all hell. Claudio pretends not to hear that part of the conversation, but is keenly interested when he hears about Almita being in the clutches of the Santibañez.

Max tells MD the good news first—Almita is healthy and out of the incubator. He then gives her the news they were both expecting—Dan is the DNA donor of Almita. He follows it up with the bad news—Dan got provisional custody of Almita. MD starts to freak out and lashes out at Max for not letting her do what she wanted to in the first place (back when she admitted the truth about Julian not being the father)—run away and take off without a trace. Max can’t calm her down, and her loud shouting brings curious/concerned prisoners (who look ready to do to Max what they did to Dan), and some of the guards. MD has had it though, and demands that the guard keep her damn hands OFF her, before she marches away. Nayeli tells Max not to follow, as it will just land MD back in solitary. Max never gets the chance to tell MD about Alma having passed away.

Abuela has already heard the news of Almita from her sources, and her goons force MD to sit and listen as Abuela gives her twisted “I told you so” speech. If MD had had the abortion, none of this would have happened. She would be happily married to her lawyer boyfriend. But now her daughter will grow up with her rapist daddy and his crazy family where the grandfather and the aunt both committed suicide. And that is surely the path MD’s kid will take when she’s old enough to learn that her mama’s in jail, and she’s the product of rape.

Ursula claims she did it all for Dan, then threatens that she can send Dan to jail if she wants. He shoots back that her star witnesses, MD’s neighbors, want her in jail, and won’t change their tune just because Ursula wants them to. Ursula counters that she has Ivana on her side, and she will testify that Dan killed Julian. Dan points out that if he goes to jail, MD goes free, and she sure as heck won’t let Ivana have the baby. Ivana says that if MD gets out, then neither Ursula nor Dan are going to be allowed near that baby by MD.

Ivana then threatens that if Ursula and Dan don’t live up to their end of the bargain and hand over that baby to her, she will see that they BOTH go to jail- Dan for murder, and Ursula for being an accessory. Ursula lays her demand on the table. She wants 50% of Vera Duval shares for the baby, and she wants Ivana to sign over the shares right now. Ivana refuses to do any such thing, until she has a guarantee that the baby won’t be taken from her. Meaning, she won’t sign until AFTER MD is sentenced for murder and Dan is granted full custody and signs custodial rights over to her. It’s this way or nothing. And she wants the baby to start living with her NOW. Dan points out that he will lose his temporary custody if he’s not living with the baby. If Ivana wants the baby to live with her now, then he comes with the baby too! They’re a package deal.

Despite being only 7 months along and surviving two murder attempts, Isela’s baby is big, healthy and doing well enough to not need an incubator. I guess this is the difference between Isela’s peaceful months of working a cushy job and living in Ari’s nice apartment, versus MD’s months of starvation, torture and deprivation. Orlando and Claudio look in on her though the window in the nursery.

Susana is not a happy camper to see Ivana bring home a baby, Gerry, AND Dan. I hear ya, Susana. I’d be a little WTF too. Gerry snarkily points out that Susana is getting what she wants. Ivana isn’t married to him, and she’s not going to be raising the baby of some unknown person and a gay. Instead she gets to be great aunt of a baby whose mother they all know well, and Dan. Happy, happy! Joy, joy! Susana says she knows now why Ivana recently bought all the baby stuff. Ivana denies it and says she bought them for Isela’s baby, which she is having sent over to Orlando since she will now be too busy with her (MD’s) baby to do herself. (So much for her claim that hovering over Isela’s pregnant belly was only about trying to help out. That’s forgotten now that she finally has the #1 prize- Almita.) Susana sarcastically congratulates Ivana on finally getting what she wants. But she hopes each time she looks at the baby she also sees the blood sacrificed for Ivana to have her—“When you hear her laugh, think of all the people who cried for the death of Julian. Think of the pain and tears of a mother, who even being innocent, is in prison, without being able to have her child in her arms.”

Leo has gone home with Clara and they both comfort Esperanza. Espy points out that no matter how bad things get, there is always something good, and that good is the two of them being back together. Leo tells Espy how he apologized to Clara for how he treated her, and points out that the two of them together are greater than the sum of their parts. Doris and Chelito come over, just as MD calls from the prison to ask about Almita. Clara tells her about getting back together with Leo, and about the letter Alma left for all of them. MD: “What letter are you talking about?” Clara: “Didn’t Max tell you that Alma died?” MD says she didn’t give Max a chance to tell her, and beats herself up for treated him so badly. She sends a virtual hug to Leo via Clara, and says she will call Max.

Dan horrifies Ivana and Gerry by renaming Almita, Maleny, then insults Gerry, who leaves the room. Dan crazy talks to Almita/Malenita, telling her that soon she, he, and her mommy will all be together.

Ursula and Jacinto are agreeing that they both don’t let feelings get in their way, they trust no one including each other (Jacinto just wants back into Vera Duval when Ursula gets her shares), and especially not that Marcia and Marcelo Monterubio. Ursula’s going to help Josefa sink them both. Just then, Marcelo and Marcia arrive. He’s ready to negotiate.

Gerry is already seeing a bleak future of having to put up with the insults of the Santibañez when he visits Ivana in her home, and at the office, if Ursula gets those shares. He puts Ivana on the spot and demands to know why she put in that condition that MD be sentenced. It sounds to him like she has no intention of testifying in MD’s favor and freeing her. Ivana tries to dance around the truth. She tells Gerry that she put in that clause, "just in case" MD isn’t freed, because you never know what can happen. And she agreed to sign because she needed to calm the Santibañez down so that they’d allow her to take the baby with her now—you know, to protect her. Gerry doesn’t look like he’s falling for it, when Ivana is saved by the bell, or the phone. He’s staring her down hard as she tells Max that he can’t come over to see Almita because Dan is there—they forced that condition on her. Max informs her that tomorrow MD’s hearing starts. The prosecution will be first up to have their witnesses testify, and for sure Josefa and Honoria will be there. Then, Ivana will be presented as the primary witness for the defense.

Ursula, meanwhile, is trying to enlist Marcelo and Marcia’s help in making sure MD is sentenced. If not, then Ursula will inform the press that Marcelo has a thing for young girls, who all seem to end up dead. Marcelo is like, “Who’s MD? And what’s this got to do with me?” Marcia points out that neither of them are judges. Ursula knows, but they can still be of use to her to help get Claudio and Max out of the way. The same way Claud used his influences to keep MD in, he and Max can get her out. Ursula plans on getting Max out of the way, and they can have Abuela get MD out of the way, just like she did for them with Marta. Marcelo isn’t willing to play Ursula’s game—he doesn’t want or need any more problems with Claudio. Ursula sweetens the deal. Her plan is to get rid of ALL the Bustamantes (Claud included). Marcelo is listening.

MD calls Max and apologizes profusely for the way she treated him. She knows he put aside his great pain to try to comfort her about Almita. He tells her how happy Alma was to learn MD named the baby after her, and to see the baptism video. “Everything that happens to you Max, is important to me.” Max describes how impotent he felt when Dan took Almita, and feels each time he says farewell to her in the prison. MD assures him she trusts him now more than ever, because he has shown her time and again how much he loves her.

Ursula tells her new associates that she will take care of Max, and Marcia will take care of MD. Marcelo still doesn’t see how this benefits him. Ursula says that if Max goes down, Claud will go with him. Claud won’t be able to investigate the Marta case, and Marcia and Marcelo can pin the entire thing on Abuela. Marcia doesn’t think it will be that simple, but Ursula blows smoke up their butts by calling them all “professionals” she can trust to get the job done.

Later that evening, Ursula finds an unwelcomed guest in the office—Arango. Dan is on his way over to talk to Ursula, and asked Arango to be there, in case Ursula wanted to talk about the money.

Ursula: I never thought that you’d do this to me, Arango.
Arango: Excuse me. YOU threw me aside for Jacinto.
U: You slept with my daughter.
A: That wasn’t bad enough for you to throw me aside.
U: I should have gotten rid of you from the moment I first got close to Hector.
A: You didn’t, because I promised to take you out of that filth (mugre) in which you were living.
U: You promised me so many things. But you only did things to benefit yourself.
A: To benefit us both. But you were the first to betray me.
U: I couldn’t marry Hector, and keep sleeping with you. You’ve never forgiven me for that.

Jenny has just taken a pregnancy test, when she hears a knock at her door. She makes the mistake of not checking and lets in demented Dan. He demands to know if she told Max that he was an addict. She eventually admits to it, and says that her goal is to see that MD pays by staying in jail, NOT to help him out. Dan sees the pregnancy test, then grabs at Jenny’s belly as he sarcastically congratulates her on finally getting knocked up with Julian’s sperm, then threatens to hurt her so that she loses the baby if she gets in his business again. Then he roughs her up, shoves her to the ground, and kicks her before leaving. Jenny cries in pain.

While MD is lost in thought in a dirty cell jam packed with prisoners awaiting sentencing, Ivana cuddles and coos at Almita in her big luxurious bed, in her big luxurious house.

Max gets some documents from Esperanza, who hugs him and tells him this is the best news she’s gotten in a long time. The two of them are headed down to the prison together tomorrow.

Ursula tells Dan that she dismissed Arango, they don’t need him there. She then announces to Dan that she is no longer doing this all for him, now that he’s betrayed her. He scoffs, and wonders when has she ever done anything that wasn’t for herself? Ursula presses on. She’s going to demand that the shares of Vera Duval be put in HER name (like there was ever any other option), because she doesn’t want to live off Dan’s charity (limosnas). Furthermore, she wants Dan to call up his prison buddies, and get the plan to terminate Max back on track, TOMORROW. And they better not fail this time, and Ivana can’t know about it either and screw it up like last time. Dan tells her to talk to them herself.

The next morning, Max and Esperanza arrive to see MD at the prison. After a passionate kiss, Max presents MD to the judge who has come with him and Espy. If MD wants, the two of them can get married right now. MD is left speechless.

It looks like rap sheets are going to become twice as long since our Karmageddon discussion with only five episodes left. I am seriously concerned that this could have a tragic ending. As for where the money and criminal intent are going....

Arango reminded Ursula that Hector's will left everything to Daniel and Maleny when they were still minors. It's 20 years later and due to Maleny's death it now all belongs to Daniel. She therefore has no "fortune" to pay Marcia for what she's done on her behalf.

Ursula is demanding half of Ivana's business in exchange for the baby over whom she has no real legal rights. If she gets it Marcia will demand it if Ursula doesn't knock her off first.

Ivana's deal with Ursula originally demanded that she allow MD to rot in prison. She had already betrayed MD and Max in advance of Max's efforts to get her to testify.

If Ivana manages to keep the baby through any legalistic chicanery she's a sitting duck because Ursula and Daniel will kill her.

Jenny was part of this loose conspiracy to have MD rot in prison due to her own jealousy. We don't know whether she will fess up or not.

We still can't expect Honoria to see reason.

There is a conspiracy to kidnap and possibly kill Max.

We could end up with a tragic ending and a sequel in which MD's daughter sets out to avenge her parents' deaths. That's making my head hurt.

Thanks for getting the conversation started, Urban. I'm going to have some breakfast, then I'll watch and recap. Be back later...

I had some video issues so I missed some details. Looking forward to your usual good work.

It's funny, this whole time I have still been expecting a happy ending. I have been assuming that MD will get out of jail, Dan will pay for his crimes and Max and MD will live happily ever after. But what if that doesn't happen? This show has not followed the TN rules, so maybe the happy ending rule won't be followed either.

My optimism for a happily ever after died with the paternity test. So now I'm wildly pessimistic yet hold out a sliver of hope for something not completely disgusting. You know, like Dan, babe in arm, dragging MD away into the sunset, she with listless eyes.

I would love a sequel where up young Maleny Santibanez sets out to find the truth about her origins, which pisses Ursula off just as much as it did when original Maleny Santibanez set out to find the truth.

She knows her dad, Daniel Santibanez is in a manicomio and her mom, Ivana Duval died when she was a baby.

She overhears a conversation between Ursula and Jacinto (Arango is long dead) about her origins, and making sure the real mother is never in the mix. Maleny wonders, who is her real mother?

Maria Dolores was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the death of Julian. Broken & old, she has never wavered in her belief she would one day see her daughter Almita before she dies. There had been many attempts to kill her in prison, even Josefa's attempts but she outlasted them all. Saddened because her one true love Max Bustamante disappeared on her the day they were to get married and she's never heard from or seen him since.

Young Maleny finds out her bio mom was from the vecindad and demands answers from Ursula, who laughs in her face, calls her an ingrate and says she should be grateful to be under her care, instead of a loser from the vecindad and a drug addict. Young Maleny decides to find out the truth.

Young Maleny starts poking around the vecindad and befriends a young man, Julian and a young woman, Marta. They say they don't know too much about who used to live in the vecindad but maybe she could talk to his abuela Honoria or Marta's dad, Orlando.

They take her to meet Orlando. She introduces himself and he is taken aback and asks her about Maria Dolores. She doesn't know who Maria Dolores is, and he tells her she's her real mom & what happened between Maria Dolores, Max and the Santibanezes. That her grandmother Esperanza died long ago and her aunt Clara left town and they don't know where she is.

In another part of Mexico, Leo Bustamante, his wife Clara and their son Max are preparing to move back to Mexico City; Leo is taking a judgeship there. Clara has become a lawyer & has been trying to get Maria Dolores out of jail all this time but with no success. She's tried to visit Maria Dolores as often as she could but sometimes MD didn't want to see her because Clara has the life SHE should've had.

So in my sequel, Young Maleny seeks to find out the truth about her origins and ailing the way falls in love with Julian, who Marta (Isela's daughter) is interested in. Marta & Maleny become rivals for Julian's love. Honoria & Jenny find out who Maleny really is and do everything they can to break Maleny & Julian up.

Maleny finally meets Maria Dolores in prison & vows to get her out. MD tells Maleny her story, including about Max & the fact her name is really Almita, and to go find Clara & Leo. Ursula finds out about Almita meeting Maria Dolores and plays mind games with her, sayin she will end up like her Tia Maleny. Almita wonders what this means, and starts digging.

Marta finds out along the way about her real origins & who Josefa is and vows to fight Almita for the Bustamante fortune.

meanwhile, Daniel prepares to bust out the manicomio....

Anan207, we should pitch that to Televisa if our good guys don't get justice at the end of this tale. Although I suspect that after eliminating Ivana and getting her hands on her fortune Ursula would be more likely to kill young Maleny before she's 18 so that nobody else has the rights to any of her fortune. Danny-Boy would have to either have died in the manicomio or he would bust out and kill Ursula in revenge for messing up his whole life.

I think young Maleny would be safe as long as she stayed in line because of what happened to Hector, Maleny & Ivana. If young Maleny also bit the dust it would be just too suspicious for Ursula.

In my version, no one would ever know what happened to original Max Bustamante...whether he's dead or alive. Sometimes people disappear and you will never know what happened to them.

Claudio would still be alive but loving in the U.S. He would've set up a trust for Marta for when she becomes of age. Isela never left the coma & is in a long term care facility.

Fermin is dead, trying to help Jenny and counsel Honoria to leave her bitterness behind to the end.

Doris & Orlando would've married but Doris would've left Orlando & went back to her town with Chelito b/c Orlando would've prioritized Isela's needs over Doris'. Orlando never remarried or even had another girlfriend: he visits Isela every day at the care facility.

Josefa and Maria Dolores are at the same prison but after too many fights, Josefa was moved to solitary. She is still plotting revenge against Claudio & when Marta shows up at the prison to meet her, plans to use Marta in her revenge against Claudio by telling Marta that Isela tried to kill herself because Claudio got her pregnant & rejected her, and his wife harassed her.

It's up!

Anon207- I love your plot for a dark sequel.

Thanks Vivi, I loved the make up between Clara and Leo. He has finally grown up.

Did I understand something correctly? As a small child, Ursula was in prison with her mother?

I thought it was funny too when Corina was talking very loudly to Orlando about him not having sex with Doris and he kept trying to shush her.

Thanks, Cathyx. The only time I heard mention of a child in prison with their mother was the Santibanez speaking about MD. Did you hear something when Arango was speaking to Ursula? I played the conversation a few times, and he only called her background filth, but no other details.

Yes, both Leo and Clara have grown up and matured a LOT through their adversity. I was very happy to see them make up. Other than learning that Isela's baby is healthy, that was the one bright spot in the episode.

REMINDER: There is a high likelihood that the next episode that airs Friday will just be a repeat of this episode. This will make complete sense if this tn is to end next Friday, so don't panic if it happens. Recappers also take note and pay attention to what happens Friday.

Vivi--Sterling or Platinum recap. This epi was not fun. I hope you are planning some real fun for this evening.

It annoys me no end that I dislike Susana so much for how she abused and still abuses Ivana to come up with some TRUTH telling, while I unintentionally raise my fist in a big YES! Darn her.

cathyx--I think Arango was referring to Ursula living in abject poverty, probably in worse conditions than the Morales, not prison. Still, Ursula was a quick learner and has taken on the veneer of a believable, high society lady.

Like Anon207, I'm no longer certain of a happy ending for any of these folks, except maybe Clara and Leo and they are still so young (haven't finished school yet). It's amazing how few people have died or been killed on this show, as dark as it is. I'm not looking forward to that changing in the last few episodes.

The biggest mysteries are now pivoting around who's side will Ivana, Honoria, Josefa be on. If Honoria finds out what Dan did to Jenny, she might just expose Josefa as a liar.

Guess what? I don't care what happens to Claudio.

Happy New Year, folks

And Vivi, thanks again for this super quick and super good recap.

Thanks, Vivi. Fantastic recap.

I’m holding out for a happy ending for MD and Max. At least Almita is a girl, so if she resembles any bit of Dan it’ll be easier to take. A male child that’s a dead ringer for Dan would’ve been terrible.

Loved Arango and Dan betraying Ursula. Hated Dan renaming Almita “Maleny” but it does show he deeply cared for his sister, among all the other crazy feelings between the two siblings.

How does he expect Doris to suddenly become a mother when the two of them haven’t even had sex yet? LOL! Orly is embarrassed as all hell. Claudio pretends not to hear that part of the conversation. Goodness, that was a hoot!

Susana continues to be a straight shooter in piercing through Ivana’s hypocrisy. It irks me to no end that this elite business woman who should be a champion for women has preyed like a vulture on MD and Isela for their offspring. Too bad Susana won’t move to the good side.

After Jenny’s years of dealing no doubt with some crazy, violent johns at times, I’m disappointed she didn’t kick Dan in the family jewels.

Thanks a lot, Vivi.

FYI, the avances were for a new episode to air on Friday.

Of all the disturbing things that have happened, Dan's kicking Jenny really affected me.

If there is a new episode on Friday then there is the chance that the finale will be repeated next Friday, which would make more sense. I will be on the alert.

Anita and Niecie- Susana is a selfish beyotch, but she is also very right about Ivana's motivations most times. She hit the nail right on the head this episode.

Anon 2:21- Thanks for the info. Urban- Yep, if there is a new episode this Friday, then in all likelihood next Friday will be a repeat of the finale.

Thank you Vivi. You helped bunches with the three way demands between Ursula, Dan and Ivana that had me scratching my head and Usurla's pitch to Marcelo and Marcia right after she just said she wanted Josefa to take them out.

"that the two of them together are greater than the sum of their parts" So unfortunate both MD and Leo took so long to understand this but

"Leo quickly regrets his remarks and attitude and runs after her"

"MD calls Max and apologizes profusely for the way she treated him"....“Everything that happens to you Max, is important to me.”

Wished they would have married sooner, even in the jail before she was sent to prison and Max setting this up now achieves what? Seemed out of place so I get her mild shock with everything that transpired. She may say no.

Dan is such a beast and loves to terrorize women. Oh Jenny, you know in your gut he killed Julian, do something.

Shocked it took Jerry so long to say anything and semi went along with the madness.

Tofie- Ursula is ready at any moment to throw Marcelo and Marcia (and any of her allies) under the bus, but she was making that statement just then because it seemed Marcelo was refusing to play ball and come to the table to negotiate with her (hence the rooftop conversation between him and Marcia).

If MD marries Max now, and he walks out of the prison and gets killed by Dan's prison friends, MD and her child inherit. Not that I want Max to die, but it's a nice bit of insurance.

Vivi, I guess I just put 2 and 2 together and got 5 with regard to Ursula's beginnings.

I was disappointed in Jerry too. He's always been against any plan she had for taking the baby, now he's defending it.

Jenny and Honoria should be ashamed of themselves for aligning themselves with Dan and letting him walk free, while persecuting MD, when they know HE'S Julian's real murderer.

Maybe marrying MD now will give Max more privileges to the baby than just being MD's lawyer.

Cathyx- I don't think Gerry is defending Ivana's baby stealing plans. I think he, just like Max, is trusting her to care for Almita while MD can't, to testify on MD's behalf, and to hand her child safely back to her when she's out of jail. While all the back and forth was going on with the Santibanez and Ivana, he was frowning up a storm. I think the only reason he told Ivana to wait for the lawyers is because he was trying to stop/stall her from doing anything rash and crazy. His biggest flaw is the same one Max has-- they both trust Ivana and believe she's a good person at heart who will do the right thing.

And wait until Dan finds out that MD and Max got married. It puts a kink in his happily ever after story.

Not really because he intends for Max to die. He's also sure he can make it happen. He would also be delusional enough to believe he could get MD after that.

Not without a frontal lobotomy.

Dan is delusional enough to think he could murder MD's mother and sister in front of her, and she'd still come back to him. He's nuts!

Vivi, what a spectacular recap. You never cease to amaze me!!

Ursula- now revealed as an adulteress- continues to spin more deadly webs. The woman is a master. Am I alone in thinking that this must, truly, be one of the most sheerly devious characters in all of telenovela-land? As I've remarked before, there is just no 'bottom' to her!

As hateful as Dan is, and as reprehensible as Arango is, I enjoyed seeing the two of them turn on Ursula and knock her on her ass for a change as, thus far, nobody in this novela has ever really gotten the better of her.

Frightening to comprehend that Ursula, Monterrubio, and Marcia all appear to be speaking the same language. This does not bode well... for anybody!

My God, who would've expected a selfish viper like Susana to act the part of the chorus in Greek tragedies? But she did. She absolutely nailed Ivana in no uncertain terms. #GoTeamSusana

Happy that MD was prompt in her apology to Max, and see that- in spite of all the hell and horror- their relationships withstands. The man is a God- so purely GOOD and DECENT.

The exact opposite could be said for Josefa, a woman who doesn't deserve to live in civilized society. She contributes nothing to anybody except that which is black and hateful and horrible.

Poor Jenny. Daniel is nothing but a two-bit thug. His mother raised nothing more than a stunted, gross, waste of a human being. The parallel of Dr. Frankenstein (Ursula) and his (her) monster (Daniel) again springs to mind.

Am I alone in loving that this TN doesn't follow ANY established TN rules? We never KNOW what we're going to get!

I also don't think I've ever seen a telenovela that can compare with this one in regards to the caliber of acting, right across the board. There have been isolated performances in other novelas, sure, but here, pretty much without exception, EVERYBODY has been absolutely stellar.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY!!! :-)

Stevey, I agree about this TN's spectacularity, in fact, I agree with everything you said. It's made watching the other TNs painful.

Team Susana here too. Gerry really should be nicer to her and listen to what she has to say. She's the only one who truly sees Ivana for what she is doing and willing to call her out on it. She won't keep pretending Ivanas intentions are good, unlike Gerry who refuses to see what's going on. Maybe Ivana will surprise but I'm not hopeful. I hope Susana gets the business. Could be good for her and Gerry to work together. Ha

Kelly

"It's made watching the other TNs painful"

cathyx, no truer a statement

The music in this series is also excellent. There are passages in full Film Noir mode and others that are action-oriented. Great work by the composers.

Urban- I also enjoy the music in this. Haunting, non intrusive, beautiful many times. But there have also been moments when they used complete silence and it worked spectacularly.

Happy New Year to all and a big thank you to all the recappers who give their time to bring us such wonderful recaps...even when the eps can be hard to stomach.

I still believe in the traditional TN formula that there is a happy ending for our star crossed lovers! I'm just not feeling that those I want to pay in this TN will get the karmageddon they deserve.

I want Josefa to die a horrible TN death in prison. One that has her writhing in agony and begging for mercy as her miserable life flashes before her dead eyes. There isn't enough karma for her

Next is Ursula..I think being locked up in filthy cell with nothing but the scorn and disrespect of fellow inmates would be torture. None of the luxury she has become used to, but instead sleeping on a floor, surrounded by filth. Bread and water and daily abuse like what she heaped on her family.

Clod, deserves to be stripped of his career and to lose his sons and I in no way want him anywhere near Almita or Isela's child. Clod needs to leave town and let his family heal.

Honoria and Jenny can kick rocks too. I'm tired of Honoria's bitter bitch attitude. We finally see where Julian got his kind heart from and it wasn't her. Fermin is the only one dealing with his grief in a healthy way.

Then there's Ivana. Truth be told, she's rubbed me wrong from the beginning. I don't enjoy a wimpy whiner like her. I get she's felt unloved and like the ugly stepchild, but that's all on her truly. She has money, a beautiful home and a great company. Everything at her fingertips to created the life she has always wanted. Instead she blames everyone for her poor lot in life including her Aunt, who I actually quite like.

Susana is a bit abrasive, and at times a cruel tongue to Ivana and a homophobe; all terrible traits; but I don't see her keeping an innocent woman locked up. Ivana knows what really happened with Julian and could have come forward immediately. Ivana is only looking out for her own self and her ridiculous baby obsession. Almita could have been with her mother all along and born under better circumstances. Ivana is just as culpable as the rest of them. She's a horrible selfish woman in my book and I am firm.y team Susana and I hope she continues to give it to Ivana.

Happy New Year, Delilah! Like you, I can't wait to see what end awaits our villains and some of our gray area characters. Dan, Ursula and Josefa in particular really need major anvils. Clod has already started to get his, with his sons completely shunning him, his lover in a coma, and his daughter being claimed by others.

Vivi, thank you enlightening recap. As usaul
The episode disgusting. Ivana is full of sh*t.
And she is such a lying liar. How long is the g-man gonna stay with her and be made a fool of? somebody needs to take Dan, ursula Evanna, Arango,Jacinto psycho granny in prison, Marcia, Marterubio that stupid doctor, crazy prison guard lady, and the worst of the worst, Ho-freakin-Heffa, she deserves a cycle by herself, put them In a sack and drop them In a deep hole and cover It up. Thats about half the cast. Now I didn't mention claudio and aunty sue.
Well claudio seems to be kinda believably remorseful, and sincerely sorry for the damage he caused just to cover up his arse and continue to be nasty. Alma forgave him,
And aunty susana is ruff around the edges,
But I like the way she stabs ivana with the
Truth, and ivana has no where to go when she does that to her. Now she is moochin off
Of ivana, but I like the way she gets in her face ,even though she's doing it sarcastically she never misses her mark, Ivana can't stand her for it. could be her punishment Is auntie Susie twistin the knife with the truth even though she's doing it sarcastically just to get to her.

Ok, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE RECAPPERS AND COMMENTERS!!!! Have a safe and Happy New Year!!!

Nina- Happy New Year to you too! I like your idea of dropping all the baddies into a deep dark hole. I would get great pleasure in seeing them tear each other apart.

It looks like 118 aired last night. Did the announce that 122 airs on the 11th?
