Antes muerta que Lichita. #78 1/13/16 "Elías and Fátima to the Rescue"

Looks like high DRAMA tonight!! So let's get right to it.

Alicia has arrived at Augusto's mansion and wants to talk to Beatriz. She wants to clarify some things. Beatriz does not know how she has the nerve to show up. She'd slap her out of her home but she does not want to offend the Divine Redeemer. Luciana of course has to join in and calls Alicia a snake among other things. Beatriz calls her a sinner and asks about the trip she made to LA with her husband. Alicia tries to tell her about the trip being a work trip. Augusto must have told her about it. Luciana tells her that Augustolied saying he was going to New York and ended up in LA. Valeria tries to calm Luciana down and take her out of there. Luciana insists on staying. Alicia mentions the confidentiality expected by Augusto about the LA office. Beatriz calls her a liar and an evil woman who is out to steal her husband. Beatriz reminds Alicia that there is a God who sees all. She hopes he really punishes her. Beatriz refuses to hear any explanations. Valeria finally takes Beatriz to her room and asks Alicia to leave so Beatriz can rest. Luciana tells Alicia to leave before she throws her out in a condition worst than that of the Christ of Iztapalapa. Alicia and Luciana physically face off like two junior high girls ready to fight, huff and puff and then both back down. Alicia leaves. Luciana thinks Alicia was really scared of her.

Elías is visiting Sandra. He asks if she has broken up with Augusto from the way she is talking about him. "Breaking up" sounds too adolescent for Sandra. He wants to know what she thinks about the rumor flying about that Augusto has something going on with Alicia. Sandra acts surprised. Elías then asks about the Icónika branch in LA. He comments about how Alicia Must be more than a "little friend" of Augusto's if she has ended up is the position that Sandra supposedly was going to have. Sandra is suddenly not interested. Elías goes on to say that although Alicia has toughened up he k owns that she would be incapable of . . . Sandra cuts him off disagreeing calling her a hypocrite. Elías asks if she is staying on at Icónika. Sandra says she wasted ten years on Augusto but will not just throw away the time she has worked at Icónika. Sandra has enough so tells Elías to go on his way out he asks if she was the one who made up the rumor about Alicia and Augusto. Sandra Says she didn't make up anything. He knows her well and knows that she always gets the last blow in. If it were she who did make up the rumor, it would indeed be the lowest blow he ever saw her make. Sandra asks him not to tell anyone that she never left the city on vacation.

Roberto tells Augusto that he went to LA at the request of Beatriz. He did not have a choice. They are family after all. Augusto thinks Beatriz must have gotten wind of the LA branch and wanted Roberto to go and check out the Alicia situation. Roberto offers Augusto all of his support even with his "under the table dealings". Augusto can count on him. Augusto's phone rings and it is Alicia. She is upset. Augusto tells her not to worry. He wants her to come to the office so she can calm down. He will be waiting for her. Augusto thanks Roberto for his support and solidarity. He reminds Roberto they are waiting for him at API.  Roberto leaves.

Alicia arrives at Icónika and of course all of the staff is out in the hall just gossiping about her and Augusto. She silently storms her way through the hall.

Augusto itells Alicia he is not happy that she went to the mansion to talk to Beatriz when he told her he had everything under control. Everything just has to run its course. Sooner or later it will all blow over. It is not so easy for Alicia because she is worried about her reputation. He tells her to go back to LA asap. Work will take care of it. She disagrees: work will not take care of her reputation. She has to clean up her reputation. He tells her to forget about it. He tells her to go back to LA. They can talk it all over later calmly but if things continue as they are then she will have to go live and work in LA. She wants to know about this "living in LA". That was never part of the deal. He tells here to calm down and take the rest of the day off. Just one more thing: he wants to know why she never told him that Roberto showed up in LA. She says that she thought that Beatriz would have told him. No, Beatriz just sent Roberto to check out the cheating rumor. Augusto never told Beatriz about the LA office because she is not interested in work matters. He tells Alicia that she has to let go and not care what other people think. She disagrees when it comes to her reputation.

At the café, Elsa is worried that they have not heard from Alicia when she left LA or arrived in Mexico City. Ignacio tells her to calm down. It is probably that she was just in a rush with work. He tells her not to call Alicia but to just hold on a while. She is probably busy at work and they are very busy at the café. Elsa tells Magos that with so many customers they are going to have to hire another person. Magos says well if Alicia is fired from Icónika she will have another worker! Ximena just shakes her head. Elsa calls Magos "amargosa" (bitter).

At the mansion, Beatriz is in bed thanking Luciana and Valeria for their support. Luciana cannot believe the nerve of Alicia showing up at the mansion. She continues calling her selfish, brazen, shameless. Valeria tries to get her to stop making those comments:  it is like putting your finger in a wound and twisting it around for Beatriz. Beatriz makes a point that she has won. She owns the company and has decided to take some very serious measures. Luciana will support her, of course!

Alicia talks with Fátima about the rumor and then Elías talks with Alicia about the rumor. Elías tells her that Icónika is a rumor mill. Alicia says this rumor came from the mansion to Icónika--not the other way around. Alicia also tells Elías that she knows who started it: it was Sandra. She has been racking her brain and still does not understand why Sandra would do something like that to her. She knows that because of Beatriz she can be banned from the Mexican Icónika and end up living in the USA. She is not sure she would want to do that. Anyway it would not solve the problem of her reputation. She has to get Sandra to eat her words and admit she lied. She needs to talk to Sandra but of course she is on vacation and nobody knows when she is getting back. Fátima knocks and comes into Alicia's office. FLASH: Beatriz wants a meeting that very day because she wants to make an announcement. Sandra will be attending via a videoconference. Beatriz does does not want Alicia there. Elías tells Alicia that Sandra never left Mexico. He tells her Sandra deserves what she gets for starting the rumor. Alicia should appear at the meeting and confront Sandra in front of everyone. Alicia does not want to face her publicly and asks Elías to help her contact Sandra.

At the mansion, Valeria and Luciana want to know why Beatriz has called this meeting so unexpectedly. Beatriz emerges from her dressing room and tells them that they can come to the meeting as long as they don't cause problems or act crazy. Dafne appears and wants to know what is going on.

Fátima calls Sandra and fills her in about the meeting called by Beatriz and needing her to do a video call. Sandra is confused that Beatriz would be calling a meeting. Fátima explains how everyone is to attend except for Alicia. She also tells her about the rumor about Alicia and what a bad time she is having. Fátima does not believe the rumor. Sandra looks delighted the rumor is having the desired effect. Sandra insists that Fátima really does not know what kind of a person Alicia is. She is not the innocent young thing. The phone rings again and this time it is Elías who passes his phone to Alicia so she can tell Sandra that they have something to talk about. She knows that Sandra started the rumor. Sandra admits it.Alicia says it is not true. She and Augusto are not lovers.Sandra says it soon will be true. Alicia says no it will not be true because she is not like Sandra. Augusto told her they had broken up. Sandra accuses her of wanting to blackmail her. No, Alicia only wants to see her reputation repaired. She wants Sandra to tell the truth: that she made up the rumor. As for a reason, she can make up whatever she wants. Alicia goes on to tell Sandra that at one time she thought they could be friends, now she knows being friends with a person like her is not worth it. Sandra tells her to go to hell.

Roberto has another meeting with detective Carmona. He angers the detective by throwing it in his face that Sheila is already back in México. Detective Carmona does not care for the tone of Roberto's voice or his attitude and calls him on it. Where is the "Augusto is a crook" proof???? Carmona wants to know. Definitive Proof=definitive search for Mateo.

Dafne and Alex discuss what the reason for the sudden meeting called by Beatriz could be. They have no idea. Dafne talks Alex into going to they can find out what is going on.

Elías calls Sandra and tells Sandra it is time to come clean about the rumor. That is not going to happen. He never should have gotten involved in her business. Sandra decides to take it out on Elías and and make him pay by letting him know she left HIM (they did not separate) not because of the work: it was because she loved Augusto. For ten years she kept the truth from him to not hurt him. She left him for another man.

Roberto and Gumaro meet for a cup of coffee. Roberto tells Gumaro he is pretending to be Augusto's ally by looking like he is betraying his wife Beatriz.Gumaro warns him not to become his accomplice. Roberto says that is the point: to become closer and closer to him so he will tell him about the crooked deals. That is the only way they will find something crooked. Roberto wants Gumaro to do the same with Draco.

At the café, Magos is shocked with the small amount of money she is being paid for two weeks. Elsa tells her it is for the whole month. Magos has no idea how she will pay off her debt. Elsa reminds her that she agreed to pay off the debt by herself and that she was also going to get another job. Magos is not happy. Elsa is still worried she has not heard from Lichita. Nacho tells her no big deal again.

Alicia feels stuck. There is nothing she can do to get the truth out. Nobody is going to believe her. Elías looks like he has an idea. Alicia tells us things are about to get good!

Skulking around the mansion and finally breaking into Augusto's desk, Gumaro finds a couple of "treasures": Luciana's ring from the Duke of Solferino that Augusto stole from her (with the "stated intention" that Augusto was going to return it to the Duke) and Luciana's DNA test.

Meeting time at Icónika. Everyone is seated as an audience not around the board table facing the screen where the videoconference with Sandra will take place. . Luciana is complaining to Roberto about his trip to LA when he said he was going to Monterrey. he remind her it was her aunt who sent him. Luciana wanted to be notified when he left town. As far as she is concerned, he is just the same as Augusto. All men are the same. Augusto tells Beatriz he hopes she will not be making some big deal at the meeting. She assures him she is not into scandals. Next, Augusto wonders why his children Dafne and Alex are there. Beatriz says she did not invite them but they can stay. She is not asking but is demanding that Augusto not start an uproar about it all.

Magos wants to start selling beers (chelas) (with Gerry and Pau--also unemployed--to make more $$$$)on the side at the café. Risk? What risk? She convinces her pals that she is on a good luck roll. Easier to apologize than ask for permission. Hey, they never caught her for the car damage she did to the supermarket manager's car. She is "the law!"

The meeting starts with Beatriz and Sandra supposedly doing a video chat from Mallorca, Spain.  Beatriz barely gets her introduction started when: Surprise: Alicia and Elías join the video chat with Sandra. Are they in Spain, too?????? With their presence, it is evident Sandra is in Mexico. Alicia says they are there in Sandra's apartment to pressure her to tell the truth that Alicia is not Augusto's lover. Augusto wants the video chat stopped. Beatriz insists it continues. Sandra is backed into a corner. Fátima blurts out that Sandra is Augusto's lover. Sandra comes clean with the truth that they have been lovers for ten years. Sandra finds it interesting that Beatriz is taking it out on her instead of her husband Augusto. That is when Sandra just has to add that Augusto had been cheating on Beatriz many years before he started his affair with Sandra. Valeria is Luciana's mother but Augusto is Luciana's father. Beatriz hopes it is just another one of Augusto's lies. Sandra tells them about the DNA test. (They wanted the truth so Sandra gave it to them.) Sandra again reminds Beatriz that she is like most wives who take their husbands' infidelities out on their lovers and not on their husbands themselves. Augusto promised eternal love to Beatriz in front of an altar not she. Elías finally unplugs the chat saying that that was quite enough. Even Alicia thinks that all went too far. Sandra says they wanted the truth so now they have it. Augusto begs Beatriz not to believe Sandra. He tells her there is an explanation for everything. Things are not as they appear. Blah. Blah. Blah. Beatriz asks Augusto not to speak to her. She then asks Valeria if she has something to say. Only silence there. Beatriz asks Augusto if what Sandra said was true. Only more silence. Luciana looks shocked. Tears all around.

So, Magos is going to get involved in another stupid situation.

Looks like another Gabriel Soto sighting coming our way. : ) I think his character's name is Santiago.

Thanks so much, Jarifa. You got quite the episode!

Loved that the whole truth got broadcast to everyone. And although I feel a little bad for Valeria, I'm glad the truth about Luci got out. I don't see how Augusto wiggles out of that reveal, but with having Gumaro he hold of the DNA test, it seems that's what the writers are planning. In any case, the truth about who is and isn't his lover is out, and that's what I care about most. Only question is will Bea do something, or go back into her perpetual state of denial?

I can't even with Magos. Now she is going to risk her parents' business by selling alcohol they have no license or permit for at night. Yeah, that won't catch anyone's attention. Ugh!

Sure was high drama Jarifa and awesome job handling it, thank you

Very clever to dump everything out at once from a 3 ft Sandra head on screen, props to the writers and the scene well done.

I feel bad for Rafael's memory, Beatriz, Dafne, Alex and even Luciana.

Ha Ha Roberto how does it feel to step right in it but I know you'll run up to Alicia and tell her you didn't mean it and knew all along she would never sleep with Augusto to further her career.

It was so funny when Alicia and Elias popped up on screen.

Jarifa, this was absolutely wonderful. Your fine tuned detailing was on fine display with great humor.

"Augustolied", "Definitive Proof=definitive search for Mateo" and "Skulking around the mansion and finally breaking into Augusto's desk, Gumaro finds a couple of "treasures" were among many favorites.

Gumaro for me was (again) the happiest moments of the night. He was indeed "skulking" although his burglar skills could use a little fine tuning. He is a loveable if slightly inept character, with a heart that is pure gold. I smile every time I see him.

"Luciana thinks Alicia was really scared of her". Yes, I kind of think she was (I say with an unkind smirk on my face). My money is on Alicia now. She who cowers no more.

"She left him for another man". Oooh, snap. I wondered about the timeframe (not sure how long she was with/married to Elias, but Sandra actually leaving Elias for Awful Augie was a complete surprise to me.

The video accusations and admissions were very hard to watch. Bea had no idea what she was doing when she set things up and I am sure she had no idea she would be the one to crumble, her life in shambles. And, while there are likely fewer who dislike Luci more than I, that was a terrible way to find out who her "father" really is. And tofie, I agree with everyone you noted that you feel sorry for. I felt the worst for Rafael and his memory.

Vivi, I was hoping Sandra was going to mention Chuchette but I'm not sure if Sandra knows she was/is his lover too!?

The very few scenes we've seen of Gabe Soto have impressed me. He seems so relaxed. In so many of his roles he seems intense and always ready to spring. Hard to explain. The man is hawt.

Jarifa, thank you, thank you.

Diana

No, Sandra doesn't know about Chuchette. No one does.

Well, Rafael did, but he's gone now.

I guess I felt bad for Valeria, after feeling bad for Bea (but happy her eyes are opened), because I know this means EVERYONE will turn their backs on her, including Luci. She has no money (Augie is holding her mansion sale money hostage) and she's all alone in a strange country. And I never thought she was a bad person, even though she did this awful thing to her husband years ago. All indications are that she was a loving wife to him these many years.

I keep hoping that something bad enough will happen to Magos to turn her around. She and Roberto grate on me the most; even more than Augusto or Sandra or Braulio&Brisa.

Tofie, that was my favorite scene when Sandra had that unexpected company on the screen. It was so well done.

Vivi, you are right that Valeria is really in the most vulnerable position of any of them. She has nowhere to go in Mexico and no money to go home to Argentina unless Augusto "deigns to" give her some money. She is never going to see the house sale money. Augusto thinks it is his due because Rafael squandered the inheritance. It will be interesting seeing if she ends up working maybe at Icónika.

Diana, I have to admit that Gumaro character has grown on me. He has been telling Roberto to tell the truth forever now. I am sure that the Santiago (Gabriel Soto) character is going to grow on me very quickly.

Well, on with the day!!!

Valeria isn't a bad person (I struggle with betrayal and love in the same sentence) and bet she never believed Rafael would die at Augusto's hand (if she ever knows) but the only reason Luciana stayed in the house and by extension she and Rafael is because she told Augusto Luciana is his daughter. Augusto wanted Luciana gone and Valeria leveraged her betrayal and consequences are a bitch sometimes.

Thanks Vivi.

Yes, I meant to mention Valeria. She does seem so sweet and kind, I am forgetting what happened in the past. You have a valid point tofie with "I struggle with betrayal and love in the same sentence". But she was a good wife, I agree.

Diana

Wow amazing recap of a great episode!

Agree with all that I felt bad for Valeria (even Luci) but I really felt for Bea. With all of her faults and admission that she knew Augie had cheated in the past, a ten year relationship hits hard. Then to top the hurt and humiliation with finding out that her sister-in-law and closest confidant cheated with her husband and produced a child, that Augie knew of?! It looked like at the end that she fainted while trying to leave (or was that in the previews?). Gosh I hope Augie doesn't get out of it by her dying too.

I was happy to see Augie suffer due to all of the games he has played over the years. Even though their are worse secrets to discover.

Alicia and Elias popping up in the video was great. And wow Sandra has a nasty streak. Her complete disregard for the pain she was causing Bea has made her dead to me. Deader than before. No coming back dead.

You know when Ximena got hurt in that car accident I thought this will be Magos' turning point but it looks like she hasn't changed one bit. Yes, she has been working steadily at her parents cafe but she takes liberties too.

Gabe Soto sighting is promising. Wow super hot. Hope he turns out to be a nice guy.

I do wonder how Iconika moves forward with all of the dirt out there. I can't imagine Bea will let Sandra work there. She will force her out like she wanted Alicia. It looked like Bea's presentation was going to reveal her big plans but now that is put aside. Will it still happen?

Psssst: Roberto: Mateo is on Lot C shooting a Cheerios commercial. Just sayin'

He is really cute in that Cheerios commercial. But did you notice that the adoptive father is also on a commercial during the show? He is the Trivago guy.

Carvivlie- Love the actor's hair in the Trivago commercial, more so than the slicked back look they gave him as Mr. Vidal.

Looks like I miss a lot when I don't watch the commercials! :(

Vivi: Yeah definitely more attractive in the commercial. Hopefully we will be seeing more of him in another TN. He's a cutie.

Wow....the last 15min of this show was better than a Jerry Springer show. I was not expecting all the truth to pour out of everyone's mouths.

I am the most shocked that Fatima actually spoke up. I would love to see how Augusto squirms his way out of this predicament.

Even though Valeria is not completely innocent in this whole affair....I still cannot help but feel for her. Luciana and Bea will hate her now.

Magos: I cant with her....She is just looking for trouble at this point

Thank you Jarifa! That was a very dramatic episode.

Thank you Jarifa for filling us in on the high end drama last night. Wow! You sure got a blockbuster last night. We're ever grateful to you.

I liked ---A physical face off ready to fight--huff and puff. Your wording to a potential fight was so cute.

Looks like Magos is on a roll. Oh boy, hold on to your hats patio peeps. What could possibly go wrong? Actually I don't think that Magos has any bad intentions with selling beer on the side, she just wants to make a little more money. Vivi---You are
so right about not having a license for that. Come on Magos, think!

Question---How did Alicia and Elias get into Sandra's apartment? Does Elias have a key or are we just supposed to go with the flow. Indeed, it was a blast when they both showed up on the video screen.

Right Vivi---Looks like Valeria is now in a world of hurt. Payback for past sins?

Can't wait to see the fallout from the big blowup tonight.

must see tv

Thanks, Jarifa. Great episode and you did it justice.

Sandra and Augusto outed in front of EVERYBODY. Hurrah!!!

ITA too bad about Beatriz and Valeria. But Bea needed a big shakeup to straighten up and be a good parent, so this is probably all for the good.

Poor Valeria. If Raphael were alive, I think he would've forgiven her. Valeria was sweet to Raphael, but she still seemed to be turned on by Augusto. I remember once Augusto stroked her back or something to persuade her to do something, or maybe it was the other way around, but she looked excited.

Ugh, now Daphne knows her nemesis cousin is actually her half sister, and Augusto clearly prefers Luciana over her.

Fatima is the moral compass of Iconika. Once Sandra started lying, she couldn't sit by and watch Alicia take the fall. After 10 years, she was probably tired of being the only one to know the truth and have to keep the secret hidden.

Niecie: If I am remembering the scene correctly, Valeria told Augie not to touch her "like that" and he backed off. But I do think that when we first met Valeria she flirted with Augie in his office. Maybe she was doing it to secure his help, I can't remember exactly. Her character after that was nothing but a doting, loving wife.

Thank you, Jarifa. Even though I had watched the episode, your recap kept me on the edge of my seat, with Sandra's zingers being flung at Beatrice (though she was aiming for Augusto) with the rapidity of an Uzi. Awesome.

For some reason the person I felt the worst for was Valeria, as others have mentioned. Maybe she can get a job at "El Cafecito." Imagine Luciana finding out that HER mami WORKS FOR "Lichicienta's" mamacita!

Trina to

Where will Valeria go if Bea throw's her out? I don't see Luci helping her out financially. Maybe Augie will feel bad (unlikely) and give her the proceeds from the sale of her house.

Valeria is also at the mercy of Luciana if she is angry for deceiving her. Maybe Valeria tries to appeal to Augusto as the mother of his child and not the wife of his brother and she gets a pardon. That worked before to get her in the house.

I wonder what Luciana does with the news Augusto is her father.

Luci will probably start making demands, even more ridiculous than before.

Thanks for the kind comments! Tonight should be a good one.

Right Carvivlie---Luci will think that she rules the roost now. UGGGAAAHH!!!

the gringo

Jarifa, a late thanks for thorough coverage of Wed. night's big explosion!

Not sure that we've ever seen a big reveal this dramatic before. Big bloody chunks of truth raining all over the meeting room, with results that will shake everyone's world.

La Paloma: well put: "big bloody chunks of truth".
