Antes muerta que Lichita #80 1/15/16 Augie is GOD... or at least he believes he is... and he again convinces Alicia to move to US. Bea moves in with Alex and Kenny (Say WHAT???!!)
The mystery guy turns out to be Santiago de la Vega, the
owner of the whole chain ‘People’s Café’.
He introduces himself to her, shakes her hand… (the guy could not be
more of a gentleman)… won’t let her apologize. He did not tell her who he is
just because she did not give him a chance (she wouldn’t stop talking). (yeah Alicia! Like you can stop talking fast
right now too!). HE reminds her that
when he met her in L.A. she sent a cell phone flying his way. Then she gets a bit proud and obnoxious when
he is only trying to congratulate her on their being able to close his store.
Roberto and Gumaro. Rob is telling Gum that Luciana told Rob
about Augie’s ‘accident’ was not a car accident and was not overseas. It was in
a small town here in Mex and it was a bullet wound. So Roberto will continue investigating on his
side, asks Gumaro to do same.
Now it is Elsa who is tattle-tongue with Santy. Nacho assures him that they did clean fair
competition. Santy says he is here to recognize that and congratulate them. His
people made a mistake opening a store here, his company is more for stands at
big corporate offices, not local neighborhoods. Obnoxious Magos has her
personal comments about having worked at PC for a couple days and the coffee
was pricey. Elsa voices her concern
about the employees of the Peoples Café. Santee assures them that all his
employees were relocated, no one was let go.
He also congratulates them on the marketing campaign… and unbeknownst to
him, he actually TELLS Nacho and Elsa that Alicia is the Creative Director at
Iconika USA. This drops the jaws of both Elsa and Nacho. Poor Alicia is having
a ‘wanna get away?’ moment.
Roberto brings Luciana’s photo of Augie at hospital bed to
the cop guy. They again end up arguing
since both of them are ready to call each other on the ‘deal’ they had made.
Alicia tries to explain herself to her parents. Nacho tells Santy that they are so proud of
their ‘nina’ but the problem is she is leaving their side to be Director over
there. Elsa says yeah but it’s the law
of life. And all children leave … SOMEDAY (get it, Magos?). Elsa and Nacho go to tend the business…
Roberto and Gumaro are again talking while Gumaro fixes the
blue mustang (not exactly an original car color for mustangs of that era… esp
if you paint even the radiator grill Yikes!)
Back to Santy/Alicia… he is amazed that she had come up with
the marketing campaign of the coffee shop all by herself. HE admires her even
more. Some guy that works for Santy
comes to meet him there to get him to sign some papers. Meanwhile Alicia texts someone to come meet
her when they can. She turns around and Santy is gone.
At Iconika… Nestor is feeling like yelling at the
receptionist girls who are payimg more attention to their cell phones than him
or Braulio… The girls have about half a
dozen employees in front of them waiting to get their attention but they are
totally ignoring everyone. Nestor says he wants to know who is keeping up the
agenda of meetings for Don Augie. He
yells at them even louder. Shushette
turns around to him and says ‘your temporary role is showing to be a bit too
much for you’. In comes Roberto and with
one word gets everyone to shut up.
At the house, Luciana is crying at the garden… Gumaro comes
over and tries to chit chat with her and she wants him to show her how to care
for the bonsai trees… he gets closer to her and whispers that she needs to
sweet-talk and even sing to the plants.
Then he puts his arms around her. And holds her hands while she trims…
(are these two falling for each other for real?)
Roberto asks where Elias is, but Shushette tells him Elias
must be feeling really bad after learning what his ex-wife was up to behind his
back. Then they all talk that Elias knew about her affair…
Shushette says there is a client coming to a conference for
their campaign… seems like no one at the company has done any work on a
campaign theme or anything for this client… In comes Augie walking in (I would
guess he is here to attend the conference for the non-existent campaign
presentation).
At the hospital, Alex visits Bea, she tells him she has
already made a decision with respect to Augie, but she appreciates him there,
and she does not feel ready to go back
to the house. He reminds her who else
will be at the house (Augie? Vale?)
Gumaro and Luciana are enjoying working with the plants
until Luciana suddenly remembers that he is just a ‘Nac…’ and does not waste
time to let him know. He has to run since someone at the house is yelling for
him.
Augie starts his usual ‘nonesense’ speech about nothing
important at all… HE now is claiming
that his relationship with his wife is as good as ever, rock solid… and that he
is a MAN… and the President of this BEAUTIFUL FAMILY called Iconika… he keeps
b-s’ing everyone that his wife is perfect and they are as in love as ever. Then he walks away after leaving Roberto in charge,
who just tells them to go to work.
In comes Valeria at the company. The receptionists whisper to each other… and
without a word, give her a temporary visitor badge.
Elsa wants Alicia to talk to her about whatever is worrying
her. Alicia won’t bulge. Elsa won’t leave her alone as long as Alicia
is looking so sad, so Elsa will go with her to Iconika. Alicia decides to tell
her about it but on the way to the company.
Valeria confronts Augie right in front of reception at the
company. She demands to know why he pushed her under the bus when the truth
about Luciana came out. He wants her to
just go away. She tearfully says she has no money… so he mockingly asks her …
then what are you going to do?
Elsa and Alicia arrive at the company. Elsa will go work on
the cart… Alicia runs into SHushette, who of course is butt-kissing her, since
she is the mgr at the moment.
Elsa walks by Valeria, recognizes her and asks her what is
going on.
At Augie’s office, he tells Alicia that she is responsible
for the monumental scandal surrounding them.
Alicia says she will respect any decision he makes about her role at
Iconika… Alicia seems more concerned
about Fatima’s future. Augie says there
is no love lost when the loyalty is broken. HE calls what Fatima did ‘treason/betrayal’. He says the best Alicia can do after the
incident is that she return to the US. Because HERE you won’t work again. She demands to know why. She has nothing to hide. HE tells her that Bea is a bit shaken and if
she ran into Alicia here at the company she could get ill… so Alicia should go
to the US to be out of the way and try to make amends with her misstep. Now he wants Alicia to be the General Director
of the agency in the US, even if no longer
will be a subsidiary of Iconika, but an independent company.
Valeria is appreciative of Elsa’s support and listening
ear. Elsa is happy to help, its not a
big deal. What will she do? Valeria says with the death of her husband
and the uncertainty of the sale of the house in BA, she is not sure. Elsa invites her to go out to talk. The receptionists are surprised of how close
Elsa and Valeria are becoming.
At conference room, Nestor, Roberto and others talk about
the canned foods campaign for Mr Gomez. Braulio and Brisa are there too.
Roberto says he needs them to brainstorm ideas about this campaign (seems Alicia
had volunteered or taken responsibility for this campaign) to present to Mr
Gomez. HE walks around trying to rally
them up into thinking for ideas.
Augie has his arm resting on the wall, leaning on Alicia… He keeps pitching to Alicia that Iconika USA
is going to grow and be much bigger than the one here. Alicia tells him that the word at the USA
offices was that the two companies were going to merge… HE interrupts her and
yells that no smart person would think twice about the opportunity of being at
the head of the company in USA vs keeping an uncertain role here. Alicia puts up the condition that Fatima can
come back to Iconika.
At the conference room they are working on the marketing campaigns… SHushette comes in. She tells them Mr Gomez will be here in less
than 2 hours. Roberto keeps rallying up.
What would Alicia suggest? They tell him
‘then ask her!’
Augie mocks Alicia and says ok Fatima can come back. But you
have run out of trump cards to put conditions with. Roberto comes to summon Alicia for something
work-related. Alicia heads out.
Alicia contributes her ideas and even though some in the
room don’t think they are ready to do a formal presentation, Alicia goes on
with the meeting with Mr Gomez. Mr Gomez has heard wonders about Alicia and
congratulates her. He even comes in
with some insight like not so many people get together for formal dinner at
home anymore. Alicia sounds very
confident in the campaign.
Augie comes to the hospital with a roses bunch (3 doz?) he is irate/angry that no one told him that
Bea had checked out of the hospital but she is not coming home yet (he learns
this from Daphne on phone). He asks Daphne
where is that pervert (Alex) but Daphne fakes that the phone call got broken
up.
Well, Mr Gomez has fallen asleep at the conference. Everyone
in the room is laughing. Alicia has to wake him up… When he wakes up, he does
not realize they have not finished the presentation, but he yells that he loves
the campaign and is extremely happy with it.
Bea is indeed at Alex’ apartment. She feels awkward. They have only two
rooms. Alex tells her no problem, she
can stay at the guest room, Kenny and him sleep together in the other room. She
is appaled.
Roberto comes to see Alicia to thank and congratulate her on
the campaign for MR Gomez. But most of all he came to apologize for having
doubted her during the nasty gossip about her and Augie. She is not in the mood to talk about it. She grabs her stuff and tells him that she
hopes this time they really won’t see each other again. HE is left there as a sad puppy, unable to
speak or move. She tells us the audience that she truly hoped that at that moment
Roberto would be feeling the same loneliness and abandonment that her heart and
her were feeling because of him.
Ximena and Magos come walking down the sidewalk. Magos is not really subtle in telling Ximena
that her aunt will leave one of these days to go live in US. Ximena’s friend Claudio, Fatima’s grandson,
is coming down with Fatima… the kids go play and Magos goes with them. Alicia tells Fatima that she was able to get
Fatima her job back, that she can come back to the office. Fatima tells her she knows Augie a bit better
and seeing is believing.
AT dinner at the big house, Luciana and Roberto are at
opposite extremes at the table so they are talking via cell phone. She tells him that she will prove to Augie
that she can be a good daughter. She
tells Roberto that she sent Valeria packing… she doesn’t even care where she
went, maybe Argentina. Roberto is
concerned that Luciana cares so little…
Valeria is with Elsa at the coffee shop… Valeria loves the
little shop. Elsa keeps trying to cheer
her up and tells her that Luciana only needs a little time. Valeria asks if they know of an affordable
hotel, but Elsa offers her her house.
Nacho says he won’t mind being the only boy among so many gossiping gals. Valeria says she is really in an odd place,
too many uncertain things around her at the moment. So seems like the Gutierrez
family has gained a new guest. Alicia
tells Elsa, Nacho and Magos that she is leaving for US again, and is thinking
of a way to break the news to Ximena.
Augie is at a room, with SHushette in the bed… He wants to stop meeting Shushette at least
for a while. He leaves, she nags at
herself that she does not want to do this anymore.
Now the waterworks are broken at the coffee shop… Alicia is trying to cheer them up… they will
still be together in spirits… that is what they have always taught her. There will be a farewell party for Alicia
this Friday at the coffee shop.
At the office, Alicia is telling Nestor and Shushette that
she is leaving. Nestor and SHushette
wonder where she is going (seems Alicia can’t tell them this time).
Augie tells Roberto that there is already a heavy duty
investor interested in putting money in the USA company. Augie insists in Roberto keeping Nestor as
the interim Creative Director… while Roberto remains president at API.
While he is still with Augie, Roberto gets a call on his
cell phone. We hear a child say ‘Papi!!’
Previews: Bea
announces that Alex will be the new Creative Director at Iconika and she is
separating from Augie… Also, Santy tells Alicia directly that he likes her very
much.

If I may add a detail, when Choochet and Aug-evil were in the hotel room or wherever Aug-evil was getting dressed and Choo was in bed, he was telling her she just was not as enjoyable as before. He was not very nice at all, and went on about her not being into it any more or something to that effect. That is when Choo thought that yes, it was getting old for her too.
Daf was so cute banging her cell on the bed when Aug-evil asked where Alex lives, and telling Aug-evil they had a bad connection.
If I may add a detail, when Choochet and Aug-evil were in the hotel room or wherever Aug-evil was getting dressed and Choo was in bed, he was telling her she just was not as enjoyable as before. Jarifa, I am very happy that Elsa has taken Valeria in and under her wing. She looked so forlorn and lonely wandering the halls - a lost soul. I wonder if Luciana has given her mother even the faintest thought.
I so like the idea of Luciana and Gumaro. She is shallow but I don't think that phases him in the least. I don't think Gumaro is up to Luci's standards but their interactions are fun.
I can't believe Augusto is leaving Nestor as creative director. Guess it's top of the list (Alicia) to the bottom of the barrel. Not much of an organizational chart to pick from...
I'm in disbelief that Augusto has seemingly convinced everyone that everything is fine and that he's back, large and in charge (as usual). His wife is devastated, his children confused and his daughter's mother is inconsolable but none of that matters.
Jarifa, I kept thinking that Dafne's "tent" was a black mantilla (I'm sure Bea has a hearty supply)but your comment that it is a shawl makes more sense. Kirbo, I also enjoyed Daf thwarting her father on the phone.
Santiago - sigh. Looking forward to seeing much more of him.

I never did get around to seeing the episode where Alicia got drunk with Augusto. But it seems to me from their conversation that she still has no clue that Augusto's true intent in isolating her and sending her to the US has nothing to do with her talent, and everything to do with getting her into bed. Shouldn't this be apparent to her now. I applaud her fighting for Fatima, but bargaining herself away in the process doesn't seem like a good idea.
She also sees clueless that Santiago was looking at her with googly eyes. I guess Rob's manly attentions are the only ones she picks up on.
Love that Bea is living with Kenny and Alex! This should definitely speed up her coming into the light.

In other matters, Gummy / Luci hookup is golden for a number of reasons.
1. Gummy will really enjoy it or at least he thinks he will.
2. Luci is on a long dry spell herself, even though she managed to marry her sex object
3. Robby will be OK with it, he loves Gummy more than he loves Luci
4. I will give Robby a reason to sh_tcan Luci
5. It might force Luci to admit for once that SHE was WRONG

yeah, Gabriel Soto can pull off pretty much any shirt he wants as long as he does not wear shirts that are two sizes smaller than he needs. I don't like men with shirts about to burst the buttons... he has toned down the upper torso size since Refugio so that is GOOD. he looks more normal now.. although i have to confess i am with you. the mustache is fine, but the dirty beard has to go. I liked his looks in Refugio and a even in the one that just ended.

More importantly: Are they shooting the pink dressed Barbara Bermundo Genomma Lab Cicatricure commercial at or around the same building they have badged as Iconika? There is always an aerial view of the building with two or three vortex/funnel shaped glass inner walls. Behind Ms. Bermundo I believe I see one of the curved girders which supports the glass structure. All the surroundings look familiar. Not that it will help Alicia find true love, I just thought it interesting.

Marta, you see a good core in Luci where all I see is a black hole.
I enjoy Luci and Gum bec they are such opposites and both desperately need some action. I don't see it going anywhere real though.
Rob got what he deserved from Alicia. Maybe this will be a turning point.
Bea at Alex and Kennys should be good. Love Dafne rubbing it in to her dad.
I hope that Val takes the opportunity to clear her head while at Elsas and starts being proactive in her future, I.e. Investigate the sell of her home. I mean there must be a record of the sale.
Santiago looking good, almost too good. Will be fun to see him court Alicia. She could use some positive, genuine male attention.
What happened to Magos plan to go back to school? She is bitter to Alicia's success but isn't doing anything to help herself.
Vivi I noticed the different receptionist but I didn't think too much about it. We will have to see if this one continues to the absence of the other. Maybe the other actress got a better job, ojala, or maybe sick day?

i was thinking the same thing last night watching Roberto take over at the office while NEstor, SHushette et-al were just gossipping and criticizing around with no real direction! Even if he has no good ideas (even though the idea of putting the heart in the coffee cup and recording the video with the moving speech about family feeling at the coffee shop was great) but definitely he is showing leadership and management chops. He and Alicia would make a MAHVELOUS team with his leadership and her creative skills.

Magos is going to surprise us all before this novela ends. I have faith. She's not bad on the inside, she just needs more guidance and now with Alicia leaving, she just might some.
I love Gumaro and Luci---Maybe he is just what she needs to tone her down/smooth her out a little.
Kirbo---I didn't notice Soto's tablecloth shirt. I don't usually look at men all that closely but now you have got me interested. I'm going to re-watch this epi.
The stubble beard look??? I never could figure that out or catch on to it as a fashion statement. When I first started noticing it, if I knew the person, I used to jokingly ask if they forgot to buy razor blades or if they were trying to put Gillette out of business? Little did I know at the time that the trend would grow.
Glad to see that Valeria has been taken in. With Alicia gone, there will be room for her and I'm sure that she will be working at the Cafecito. sp?

I don't mind that Roberto got us here but going forward all I'll tolerate is him trying and Alicia wobbling a little but do not want her with him at the end.
Every win by Alicia her confidence rises and while before she needed Roberto to sell her ideas her reputation and confident delivery much better than his shuck and jive. Even last night the client gave her the work and had no clue what she presented. She doesn't need Roberto as a partner. If she partners with anyone let it be Elias.
You could put a monkey in a sport coat and do what Roberto did by way of management. Not impressed.
