Lichita 1/12

I love Alicia's angry texting... she really assaults the phone! Also I like how they have adapted the new communication medium (texting) to fit the old novela standby (overheard conversations) by having her yell out loud as she texts. The new guy overhears and gets hit in the face when she gets mad and flings her phone.

They get him an icepack and start talking. She's glad she's a Mexican (no offense to her Cuban and Columbian workers) so they can understand one another and not press charges for any injury.

He hints that he sought them out (and he's not revealing how he knew that they were going to open up the U.S. subsidiary or where to find it) because he thinks they're going to be huge in L.A. and Iconika's work in Mexico had a huge impact on his brand. Alicia goes to look for her phone, and when she returns he's gone without even leaving his name.

Sandra makes arrangements with the... doorman? to tell everyone that she's actually away on vacation. Her place is now a huge mess of pizza boxes and junk, and the cleaning lady isn't coming for a week!

The API geezers are applauding Augusto for his solid and proper marriage, while (elsewhere) Bea prepares her kids for a possible separation or divorce. Luciana shows up to tell them all that Augusto was having an affair with Alicia. When they suggest Luci herself started the rumor, she claims to be an honest and pure religious woman who always follows every one of the eight commandments! Augusto makes an appearance and orders Alex out of his house. Bea, for once, stands up and reminds him that it's her house and her son and suggests that Augusto leave.

Before heading back to Mexico, Beto stops by to cast accusatory glances at Alicia and grumble. She is sad. That is all.

Sandra actually seems to be enjoying cleaning her apartment in an ultra-hurry for when Fhatima drops by to water her plants (to hide the fact that she's been living out of it). She starts talking to stains and recognizes that's crazy. BTW Dafne called Alicia to let her know that she's pretty sure Sandra started the rumor.

Elias, doing some skulking of his own, notices a skulking Sandra hiding in the bushes as Fhatima visits the apartment. How did he find out? The facebook post she made of herself in Mallorca used the same background of one of his treasured photos of the two of them on their honeymoon ( he calls it their honeyhell) in Acapulco. He knew she wouldn't friend him, so he had created the fake profile for "Mijalis Caligaris" to keep tabs on her.

Alicia comes to visit Bea.. everyone gasps!

Great recap Ezra, I really appreciate this.

Loved that Beatriz stood up to Augusto and refused to allow Alex to be thrown out

Loved Dafne not believing for a second the rumor and telling Alicia so

Hated Valeria's support of Augusto though it was coerced with a threat of disclosing their past fling and the resulting child

Hate that Alicia is still vulnerable to Roberto's insults

Funny Sandra speaking to a stain

Thanks, Ezra. Short and to the point! And fun.

There were actually quite a few good moments this episode. I chuckled at the phone toss and poor Gabriel Soto getting hit in the noggin. I loved Bea standing up to Augusto when he tried to kick Alex out and telling him maybe HE should go. (She’s not ready to accept Alex being gay, but this is progress.) Sandra in her apartment talking to the spot on the wall hanging was a hoot. I am looking forward to her being outed, which looks like it will happen tonight. Elias always amuses me, and this episode was a good one for him. Gumaro looking all guilty when he and Rob spoke about Luci was funny.

Hated the scenes with Alicia and Rob, and he still thinking she could be Augusto’s lover. Shut up, Rob. Glad Alicia told him that this means they are totally done, even as acquaintances.

My crazy theory about the mystery man (Gabriel Soto) is that he’s the owner of People’s Café.

Thanks for the recap!

My first thought when Soto just disappeared had me asking "is this going to be like episode one wherein a Gutierrez hits a known galan, a la Mark Tacher, and then never returns?"

Think you may be right Vivi about him being the owner of People's Cafe.

Glad Dafne and Alex didn't believe Alicia would be involved with Augie. Glad Dafne spied so now the truth comes out.

I love Alicia's strength. Instead of hiding, she is going to face Bea and tell her the truth.

Felt bad for Fatima when she told Elias that Sandra was incapable of starting the rumor. Her love for Sandra has made her blind. Loved that Elias knew better, believed well of Alicia and went investigating.

Tonight's previews look so good but I might miss the show! Eek

Thanks, Ezra. Grea recap and observations about the "Overheard Conversation" and yelling out texts!

Interesting observations that the Mexicans do not sue at the drop of a hat like the Americans.

Loved the male Icónika USA coworker swearing by Changó and Yemayá : two of the seven African powers in Cuban santería.

Hated the guilt trip that hypocrite Roberto put on Alicia and hated more that she bought into it.

Loved that Dafne is ready for Beatriz to give Augusto the old heave ho.

Loved that Beatriz is talking to Alex again.

Tofie, Sandra speaking to the spot was the best!

Vivi, not a crazy theory at all: it is totally logical: especially when he made the comment that his business had been affected by her work in an "unexpected way". Think about that ethical conflict for Alicia: working for her parents' competition????

Didn't Rob marry Luci for just the reason he is accusing Alicia of? Or does he feel that he had to marry her in order to keep his job? Either way he is using Luci. I guess he considers Alicia a better person than himself and doesn't want that to change...but once he saw her crying he should have known he was wrong. If Alicia has lost her naivety it is due to his treatment of her. He needs to own that.

Ezra this was wonderful.

I love your insights and humor including "Beto stops by to cast accusatory glances at Alicia and grumble" and "I like how they have adapted the new communication medium (texting) to fit the old novela standby (overheard conversations) by having her yell out loud as she texts". Stellar.

Vivi, I was so happy to note you think Gabe is behind the People's Café. I thought the same thing so having you feel the same encourages me we are onto something. Looks like Carvivile and Jarifa look so too.

I like Elias' spunk and determination to find out what Sandra is up to. I think they make a quirky couple.

Am pleased that Bea is standing up to Roberto and claiming the home as her own.

tofie you never fail to make me smile "Funny Sandra speaking to a stain" was great.

Jarifa, "Hated the guilt trip that hypocrite Roberto put on Alicia and hated more that she bought into it". Yes - absolutely. Alicia seems to face assaults from all quarters on a daily basis. She is a tough lady at heart and much stronger than I would ever be. Kudos to her.

Ezra, thanks again.

Diana

Carvivlie, he sure did. For me there is no acceptable reason for Roberto marrying Luciana even if it were to keep his job and his son. He needed to tell the truth. For me he is and looks like he will continue to be just a lying loser. No great prize for Alicia when she ends up with him. Now, if this novela would just break with conventions and she could end up with the Gabriel Soto character. . . .

Jarifa: This is the first time I've seen Gabriel Soto. He sure is a hottie.

I still have hope for poor Rob. At some point he will get it through his thick skull what a jerk and liar he has been.

Roberto's problem with Alicia is he likes her naive and covered up and for his use only when beneficial to him. Accolades earned by her professional merit impossible and something he has never done. It's easy, just as his wife Luciana does, to explain Alicia's rise on sleeping her way to the top because she is not reliant on him professionally and has not collapsed in an emotional heap. He's every woman's pissed off ex nightmare and barges in unannounced and cuts her up and butters up her family behind her back.

Gabriel Soto was the galan on Yo No that just ended Monday. He is the best galan I've seen in forever hands down. I agree he must be associated with People's cafe but whatever flaw he may have it better be huge (I mean like having 2 dozen sister wives huge) to make Roberto preferable.

Carvivlie, thus is the first time I have seen Gabriel Soto, too. He is a keeper!

Tofie, looks like you and I agree on Roberto.

Heck of it is Jarifa I thought he was great at first. Bit of a rascal but charming but he's become nasty and self righteous using Alicia as a punching bag.

Tofie, ITA, his "holier than thou" attitude did him in for me.

Thank you Ezra for putting it all together. Much appreciated.

Sandra cleaning house left my scratching my head. I never thought that I would see that happen.

I think that you guys are on to something. Gabriel as the owner of the Peoples Café.
That's going to put Alicia in a bind---will she go against her family in the name of business. If she turns him down and refuses to do a campaign for her families competition and he goes to Agusto over it, then what?

Gumaro and Luci are cute together so how will Roberto get out of his mirage?

Carvivlie---Like you, I'm holding out hope for Roberto but if one were to put Roberto up against Gabriel??? Well it's not even worth wasted time to vote. Sorry Roberto.

So Bea stood up to Agusto last night. He looked like a whipped puppy on his way out.
For the first time, he wasn't in control.

Tonight the big confrontation.
must see tv
the gringo

Gringo, I could see Alicia handling just the USA portion of People Cafe's marketing. That way she gets Soto and keeps her family safe financially.

Ezra Farber nice to meet you. Good recap. Thank U. I think the texting is a good idea.the
Angry texting makes it fun. Is that Gabriel Soto playing the new guy? Is that his last name? Im glad to see him again. I missed him when YNCLH ended. gorgeous man and a great actor. I wasn't watching this show very much but now that he's on I might start watching it. don't know if he's playing a good guy or a bad guy but it's just wonderful to look at him.
Im glad she got rid of that ugly betty makeup.
But her character is the same, fun to watch.

Interesting episode. I'm so glad that Alicia did not sit back and let Augusto "handle" the situation. If anything at least she is consistent with actually facing her problems.
I'm so bored 28th the dance between Alicia and Roberto. I'm ready to root for a different galan. I too am in the camp that Soto's character is the head of People's Cafe. He mentioned that iconika affected his company in a big way.
I like the way the writers handled Bea's coming around towards Alex. She wants him around during these difficult times but she's not ready to accept everything yet.

Thanks Ezra!!

Thanks, Ezra! I couldn't watch last night, and you totally caught me up :-)

Denise

Thanks, Ezra.

Yay, I love that Daphne is onto Sandra.

Yay, Bea is no longer a pushover with Augusto.

Luciana and Gumaro, cute. When will Gumaro fess up to Roberto?
