Lichita 1/5

Alicia busts one of the heels on her ridiculous shoes on her way into the Ikonica US office and limps around the place with two employees. They apologize that the place is such a mess, and they're waiting for the new boss to come and arrange everything. She also discovers that those two are currently the only employees. They don't let her get a word in edgewise, even as they go on and on about the executive who will surely arrive soon. They eventually find a magazine that has a picture of Alicia on the cover, and Alicia really enjoys their moment of shock and surprise when they realize that she's the new boss. For, like, half a second, she breaks that glazed and impassive generic-novela-bimbo affect that's shrouded her since they dressed her up, and looks genuinely fun and playful for a bit.

Augusto holds a board meeting to tell people that Sandra's going to be taking some time off. Beto asks "why wasn't Alicia invited?" and finds out that she's in LA. Sandra then mentions that Beto will replace her in her absence!

Augusto, confiding in Draco, plays with the little case Rafael kept his heart pills in and reveals that for years and years he'd longed to have that relic of his father's. It's not worth much, but it's a trophy, although he already has his eye on... (dramatic music) another, greater trophy. Hmmmm, what could that be? Is it about Luciana?

Alicia thought she was being sent to LA to arrange the move and start-up, but she discovers that she's actually meant to be the boss. They all go out to dinner and Alicia finds that her two employees share her interest in socially conscious advertising.

At the Cafe, Nacho is completely overwhelmed by massive throngs of customers. The interview Alicia did where she talked it up was very effective, and Magos didn't show up to work (so they have too many customers and not enough baristas). Beto shows up and gets behind the counter to help! Later, Nacho realizes/remembers and loudly states at Beto that Luciana, Beto's wife, was the one who hit his car way back at the beginning of the show.

When Beto brings this up to Luci, she yells at him - "why would you bring up something so Jurassic? I had completely erased it from my selective mind!" She pulls the "my dad just died" card to try to change the subject. He insists that she go apologize and present herself so Nacho can get the insurance money and she yells that she'd sooner die! "I'm like a Kardashian and I will never allow myself to be humiliated like that.

Beto goes to Augusto, who senses marital troubles and tells him that women are always a challenge. They're like onions, you reach a new layer every day. Beto wonders what plans Augusto could have in the works for after he leaves presidency of API - surely a man so accustomed to power wouldn't give it up so readily because he wants to retire.

In a US meeting with the Oki Oki lady, Alicia says she wants to use an add to send a message to the bicultural "dreamers" who are the future of the United States!

Augusto is sending Sandra on different flights from him, so that they won't be seen flying together. What would you bet that he's planning on ditching her?

Beto tells the cop ("agent Carmona") that there's something going on with Augusto and the big hush-hush expansion to the US. The cop is unimpressed and demands proof.

Braulio, fed up with all the attention Brisa's giving her hippie ex, decides to let her "transform him." She gets him an assortment of necklaces and stuff and grins as he tries them on.

On the phone with Sandra, Augusto tells her she'll have to wait for him at least a week in Mallorca as he ties up some pending business. They hang up and he muses to himself about his coming trip to LA - he can't wait to find himself in the arms of Alicia Gutierrez. But it turns out that Sandra knew what was up and actually never left.

Nacho moans some more about not being the all-powerful man of the house. He feels like a clown and hates being Elsa's "sad achichincle" (nahuatl word for "helper"). He storms off, leaving Elsa alone in the cafe without help (just like Magos did to him that very morning).

Thanks for the great recap! Day two that my cc's are way behind the dialogue.

I was wondering if Alicia was ever going to fall? I mean she was always running into things and falling down in flat shoes and suddenly she can walk a mile in sky high heels? Her broken heel reminded me of the accident prone Lichita.

Glad Sandra is using her smarts but how will she treat Alicia when she finds out the truth of Augie's intentions? Will she think Alicia went after him? Will she blame Alicia more than Augie?

Poor Nacho is feeling hard done by with Elsa getting all of the credit for the cafe. I guess his machismo is rearing its ugly head. Can he even see well enough to drive the taxi again?

And what was Magos' excuse for not showing up to work? That girl hasn't changed a bit.

I like the two USA employees. The guy seems to have the hots for Alicia. Is he the new guy that everyone was looking forward to joining the cast?

Thank you Ezra this is greatly appreciated,

Though Nacho does pout a bunch I think he has a point. Elsa poopoos anything he says about Magos and she does bark orders and doesn't listen to a thing he says.

I'm impressed Sandra smelled deceit and not in Madrid. Of course it can't be Augusto's fault it will be Alicia just as it is Beatriz.

Glad Alicia is far away from Roberto and hope it gives her time to clear her head and get over him.

Why does Braulio believe he must change? I don't care about him really but if Brisa wants her ex she'll snap up the original. I hope Brisa loses Braulio to a more respectful version of her though.

tofie: If Rob keeps doing promos for the coffee shop and she keeps watching them online, I think her head is will become cloudier. Have to admit that him doing the promo and jumping in to help Nacho make drinks was pretty great.

Thanks for your great recap and take on things, Ezra!

So,

Alicia has now found out that her position at the USA branch is permanent. Not quite what she was expecting.

Elías let it drop to Beatriz that he heard Icónika is opening a branch in the USA. Eventhough she thinks he is "off", he succeeded in planting the seed. Heck, the company is half hers. Does not look like she is interested in selling it to her husband either.

Besides selling products, Alicia wants to also send a positive message to society so the tie in to the "dreamers" and earlier with autism awareness.

It was Alex's bad idea to bring Kenny along to the meeting Dafne set up with their mother.

Nacho cannot even ask Magos to maintain a regular schedule at the café so he is not overwhelmed as he was in this episode. Els is still the enabler when Magos is concerned. He needs to get in his cab and drive. To much togetherness can be a bad thing. Robertp suggested that Luciana make rparations for the loss of his cab, maybe he will get her to do that.

Roberto let Augusto know that eventhough he is retiring from API he realizes Augusto will be working through him Roberto to further his agenda.

Elías fills Roberto in on the new branch in the USA and gave the impression it might not be all on the up and up.

Alicia sees the café video Roberto did for Ximena.

Robto finds out from the detective that Mateo might be with his mother in the US.

Sandra is smart than I thought and is thinking why Augusto decided to stay behind.

I forgot about the promo she watched thanks for the reminder Carvivlie.

I recall it made me mad because he is using her parents to get to her. I'm much less forgiving of what he did to her, she was under extreme duress financially taking care of her family and he took food out of their mouth. That wasn't enough for him so he slept with her, she fell in love and he put her on the curb.
I don't like even looking at him now and going to send her a text as a reminder how much a rat he really is.

Thanks for the great recap, Ezra! And to you, Jarifa, for filling in some extra details.

Yeah, I agree that too much togetherness is not always a good thing. Nacho needs to go back to being a cab driver and being independent, and Elsa can be sole mistress of her domain with the Cafe and Cart business. But she needs to put Magos on a schedule and hire another reliable worker.

I really hope Alicia's radar about Augusto goes off soon. Hearing that he intends for her to be a permanent employee at Iconika USA should be ringing alarms.

tofie: I think Rob is genuine in trying to help the family. As you say, he took food out of their mouths and he has been doing all he can to help them since. Rescuing Ximena and Magos made him good for me. Rob is screwed up emotionally and makes very poor decisions but he wants to do right and be a good person, he just doesn't have the skills yet.

LOL obviously they are end game so I hope you can come around a little before you give yourself a heart attack! In LI, I was just as riled up about the male galan and wanted our heroine to run far far away.

Oh, I'll be around but want about 2 pounds of flesh off him plus let Alicia meet a nice guy so she has a real choice.

Speaking of LI, it was the only TN I have ever started and bailed on, because of Martin.

Thank you Ezra---I like your fast and to the point recaps.

Things will soon get dicey. Too many lies and half truths. Alicia stuck in LA. Where is LA Iconika I'm going to say hi to Maite.

must see tv
