Pasión y Poder Episode #45 Janurary 8th 2016 Erick is found, Aldo flees, and Artie calls Nina by her full first name: Ernestina.

Watch out, Aldo

Oh, Eladio is really mad now. He threatens to off the little pipsqueak with the one earring if he corroborates that it was indeed him who ratted him out to the authorities.

Super Augie

Augie has been working overtime (and Artie better give him a big bonus for this) and trying to obtain some kind of legal protection (amparo) for Consuelo and Erick. Artie hopes to find his coward of a son before then. He just cannot believe that his offspring is behaving like such a coward. Uh, really Artie? You should know that he's one by now. He asks Augie if he thinks that Erick exterminated The Ratt. Augie doesn't think. Erick may be the scum of the earth, but he's not a murderer, or in this case an exterminator. Besides, he loved that little Ratt of his. Artie states: that sometimes for love we can do the craziest things. Regina enters and lets her dad know that Consuelo and her baby will be alright as long as Consuelo stays put. Artie asks Augie to please speed up the process to obtain the legal protection. Aye aye, captain. Augie is on it. He rushes off to do just that. Artie asks Regina what went down at The Ratt's birthday bash. He wants to know why Consuelo is being incriminated.

I'm innocent mommy, but just a-scared

With the help of Daniela's iPhone, Nina is able to get in touch with her little boy. Erick tells her that he's innocent of exterminating The Ratt. It's just that he's a-scared. He's off to Puerto Vallarta with a pal of his. Nina thinks it's good that he'll be laying low. She asks him to stay in touch with her. He promises that he will and asks her to please not tell his daddy where he is. Oh, of course she won't tell him.. not even if she were crazy. She lets him know how furious his dad because he fled like a coward without speaking with the authorities. Erick lets her know of his fear of being locked up at the big house and dropping the soap while the authorities figure out if he's innocent or guilty of exterminating The Ratt. Nina asks him if he truly is innocent. Erick says that he is. He loved his Ratt. Nina states: that sometimes we kill for love. Oh snap. Watch out, Artie. Erick tells his mom that he has go now and hangs up. Nina whines to Daniela that the problems never end with her and her siblings. Things were going so well with her dad and they've ruined it all. Oh, but Nina is determined to fix things with Artie right away, so she heads on over to her dresser drawer and splashes some Chanel #5 on herself and heads out the door. Like mother, like daughter. Daniela decides to splash some perfume on herself too.

I'm ashamed to be the father of a coward

Regina has told Artie what went down at The Ratt's birthday bash. Artie realizes that Consuelo showed up uninvited because of Erick. Nina overhears this last part and says that her little boy isn't to blame for Consuelo's actions. Regina confronts her mother and tells her that Consuelo was only putting Erick and The Ratt in their place. It was humiliating what they were doing to her. Can't she see that? Uh, I guess not, because Nina states that Consuelo was only being a big drama queen, and that now, thanks to her and jealous snit, her little boy is a suspect. Artie tells Nina to quit overprotecting Erick. Nina says that Consuelo is pissed off and who knows what she wanted to tell the authorities to get back at Erick. Artie calls Erick a coward and says that he's the only one that making himself look bad. Artie states that he's ashamed of being Erick's father. He orders Nina not to bug Consuelo. He lets her know that he won't leave Consuelo unprotected because she's the mother of their grandchild.

These boots were meant for walking all over you

Regina tries on the boots that she bought from Clara. FF -->

Press Conference

Outside the Gomez Luna torture chamber, the press including TMZ and El Gordo y La Flaca have gathered. Eladio arrives with his man servant Callao and butt kisser Franco. Eladio has called a press conference where he puts on an act and pretends to be Mother Teresa. He lets the press know that he has been cooperating with authorities and is the first one that wants The Ratt's extermination to be cleared up. He laments that he's being accused of something that he'd never ever do in his whole life, when asked if he attended the birthday bash. He lets the press know that he's there facing the music unlike some other people *cough* Erick *cough*. Eladio is asked if he's referring to Erick Montenegro and his wife. Eladio doesn't answer the question. He simply tells the press that if he called them it was so that he could make an important statement. He lets the press know that he'll be coughing up some money so The Ratt can have a dignified farewell. A farewell worthy of a rodent. He's asked about the investigation. He responds that he has nothing to hide. In fact, he'll also cough up some money so the extermination can be cleared up. He lets them know that the conference is over with. That's all he had to say. The press leave. Now alone, Eladio tells Franco that he was right and that it was a good idea to hold a press conference. Oh, but that doesn't mean that Franco gets his job back. At least not yet. Right now all Franco gets is a pat on the shoulder. Suxtobeyou Franco. Eladio hopes that Franco has already sent someone over to watch over Aldo. He wants Franco to get in to see Aldo without the press seeing him. Franco will do that and will let him know how things go.

Nina and Daniela get the scolding of their lives

At the Montenegro residence, Regina is willing to cancel her Puerto Vallarta trip so she can help locate Erick. Artie and Augie tell her to: go on ahead and take care of business. Regina leaves with Miguel. Miguel takes the opportunity to ask about Consuelo as they walk out of the house. Regina lets him know that Consuelo is fine.

Nina descends the staircase and demands to know where Artie was all night. Augie obviously knows that things might get ugly so he skedaddles out of there to change clothes and to see how things are going with the legal protection. He leaves.

Nina stands there facing Artie and waiting for an answer. Artie replies that he was out searching for Erick at strip clubs and sleazy bars. Oh, if only Nina could see the places that her little boy frequents. Nina says that: boys will be boys, and that all men that are 40ish, err Erick's age, do those kinds of things. Nina makes her first mistake of the morning: she tells Artie that she's sure that Erick is alright and that he'll get in contact with them. The wheels in Artie's head are turning as he begins to realize that Nina is calm. Maybe too calm. For sure, she must know something. Nina says that she is worried about Erick. But that she knows that her little boy is innocent. Artie says: that the law can't assume, they need proof. Nina makes her second mistake of the morning: when she tells Artie that Erick is fine where he is. Oh, now Artie knows that Nina knows something. He demands to know what. Nina admits that she talked to Erick on the phone. But she doesn't tell him where Erick is. Artie is pissed because Nina had him running around town like a maniac searching for the coward when she had heard from him and didn't tell him. Artie demands to know where Erick is. Nina is trapped. She has no other choice. She reveals that Erick is in Puerto Vallarta.

Nina apologizes for having kept the secret. She tells Artie that she thought it was better that no one know where Erick is. Artie is offended: he's not "no one", he's the coward's father after all. Artie tells Nina that he needs to talk to Erick to help him confront this situation and he needs to know whether Erick is innocent or not. Nina throws in Artie's face how Artie could possibly think that his son is guilty of exterminating The Ratt. Artie says that if Erick were innocent he'd be there facing the music and not running away. Nina says that Erick would be incapable of exterminating The Ratt. Artie doesn't seem so sure and he brings up the fraud that Erick committed. Artie yells at Nina and tells her that he needs to speak to Erick to find out what happened so he can help him before things get more complicated. He yells at Nina to get that through her head. Artie is really pissed off at her now. He demands to know who Erick is with. But Nina doesn't answer. To be fair: she really doesn't know, since all Erick said that he was going with a friend, but didn't specify.  When Nina doesn't answer the question, Artie leaves for the study. Nina follows him. She asks him not to get mad and claims that she was going to talk to him when he cooled down. He asks her if she knows what is at stake here. Does she know what could happen to Erick for escaping from the authorities? He tells her that she's causing Erick more problems instead of helping him. Nina swears that she doesn't know who Erick left with. Artie yells for Daniela.

Daniela enters and Artie yells at her and demands to know who Erick left with. Daniela realizes that Nina told Artie where Erick was. This sets off Artie even more because he realizes that practically everyone in the family knew except for him. He yells at Daniela to give him the names of Erick's pals. Daniela leaves to do just that. Artie calls Nina by her full name "Ernestina" and tells her that he's getting sick and tired. He is getting sick and tired. He leaves the study and finds Daniela attempting to text Erick letting him know that Artie is mad as hell and is coming to get him. Artie gets pissed off even more and yells at Daniela some more for trying to warn her brother that he's coming to get him.

Nina gets grounded

Later on, Artie packs his speedo, sunblock, and other clothes for his trip to Puerto Vallarta. Nina enters the room and tells Artie that she's been thinking it over and he was right. He tells her: that of course he's right, and that she doesn't listen. Nina is all set to go and pack her itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polkadot bikini to accompany him. But Artie tells her that she's not coming. He wants her to stay at home and babysit Consuelo. He asks her to listen to him for the first time in her life. Artie will go and look for Erick alone.

What? Only 40 channels? Don't these expensive rooms usually have more than 100?

Julia arrives in Puerto Vallarta and is greeted by David. David questions her about the real reasons why Eladio sent her over there. Julia replies that Eladio didn't want her to have to deal with the press regarding The Ratt's extermination. David knows that there is something that his mother isn't telling him and it hurts him that she doesn't confide in him. She tells him not to worry about it and that she's happy to be there with him.

At the reception desk, Julia is given her keys along with the WiFi password. Then she is shown to her room. A room that only has 4o channels. Say what? What kind of fancy hotel is that? The expensive ones usually have more, no? Anyway, Julia loves the room.

David tells his mom that he'll give her the grand tour of the hotel. He suggests that Julia hit the spa first. Oh, that's just what Julia needs right now, so it can help her relax after all that has happened. David still doesn't understand The Ratt's extermination. How come they were involving his dad? After all, The Ratt was just a rodent, err an employee. Julia feigns ignorance about the reasons. She says that Artie must be having a hard time. Regina and Consuelo too. David feels bad that he can't really do anything to help out the love of his life, Regina.

Later on, David and Julia sit out by the pool, and talk about the project that David is going to make a proposal for. Julia is sure that David will get the project.

Aldo has flown the coop
Aldo has disappeared. It turns out that Aldo grabbed his things and isn't coming back. Franco is pissed off and sends the guy that was supposed to watch Aldo to get more info out of the neighbor lady that informed him that Aldo had disappeared.

Franco goes to see his padrino. Eladio is busy on the phone paying some guy to write an article where he'll talk wonders about Eladio and what great big heart he has. The article will say that Eladio won't replace The Ratt until some time has passed out of respect for her. Franco lets his padrino know that Aldo has escaped. Eladio is pissed. He blames Franco for letting Aldo get away. Franco says that Aldo must have escaped before he sent someone to watch over him. Eladio says that he'll have to do it all, like always. He sends Callao to search for Aldo and to let him know that he'll be his Freddy Kruger (his worst nightmare) and then to bring him to him when he finds him. Callao is on it. Franco gives him a list of the places where Aldo has relatives. Eladio is glad that at least Franco was able to get a lead about Aldo's whereabouts. Callao leaves. Eladio hopes that Franco has seen how things are done and that he understands that no one and I mean no one plays with Eladio Gomez Luna.

Later on, Franco and Eladio talk and it seems like Eladio has something planned for Aldo. Whatever it is, it can't be good. Franco is glad because the plan will kill two birds with one stone: it'll get Aldo and also take down Erick. Eladio asks: why the sudden hate for Erick? Franco claims that his hate comes from what Erick has done to his dear old padrino. Franco informs Eladio that he has the work contract ready where it states that the car Eladio gave The Ratt was part of the job. Franco will send it over to the authorities. Speaking about The Ratt, makes Eladio sigh. He tells Franco that with everything that has happened, he hasn't had time to assimilate that The Ratt has been exterminated. Franco is about to do some butt kissing and give his padrino his condolences over the loss of his Ratt mistress. But Eladio tells him to shut it. He claims that The Ratt meant nada to him. He shoos Franco away. Franco leaves. Now alone, Eladio has to reassure him that The Ratt meant nada to him.

Let me pet your wounds

Marinita wants to pet Franco's wounds to make the boo boos feel better. Franco has to shove her off of him because he doesn't want to be seen with her there. He asks her to please get him info on where Gisela lives. She can get the info from Francisco or Clara. She'll do it, but she thinks that he should be focusing on getting his job back. Franco is on it and says he has to find Aldo before Callao does. They kiss. Franco leaves. Eladio comes out and is pissed because he's been beeping Marintia and she hasn't been answering her phone.

Francisco gets the boot

Francisco talks to Marintia and lets her know that he cancelled the business deal with the automotive (automotriz). The owner wasn't too happy and implied that he may do business with Grupo Montenegro. When Francisco leaves, Marintia calls up Franco and lets him know that the mission has been accomplished, and Francisco has fallen in the trap. She just hopes that Eladio doesn't find out that she changed the instructions.

Later on, Francisco gets yelled at by Eladio. Eladio is pissed off that Francisco cancelled the business deal that cost him millions. Francisco tries to explain that he just did as ordered, but Eladio doesn't let him explain. He fires Francisco. Francisco asks not to be fired and says that he's always done a good job with the finances of the hotels. Eladio doesn't care about that. Francisco is still fired. Francisco leaves and bumps into Marinita as he exits. Eladio asks Marinita to call human resources and to have them get Francisco his liquidation payment. As she leaves the office, Marintia musters up a small smile.

Francisco tells Clara he's been fired. Clara is sure that he'll find something else, since he's so good at what he does. Francisco decides to take this positively, and says that he'll take this being fired as vacation time. It's been a while since he has a social life. He asks Clara out. Clara invites him to come along with her and Luisita to Chapultepec.

We see Marinita smiling from behind, because she has gotten Francisco fired. Oh, she so deserves an anvil now, doesn't she?

Living with the in-laws

Daniela bugs Consuelo and wants to know what she was going to tell the cops. Consuelo explains what happened and how Erick shoved her down and then went back to see The Ratt. Daniela accuses Consuelo of being a big fat liar and warns her not to go and tell the cops that. Artie comes in and reminds Daniela that she had told her not to bug Consuelo so his grandchild will be alright. Daniela calls him out on only caring about his grandchild. But what about her brother? Artie reminds her that Erick is a big boy now and has to take responsibility for his actions. Daniela leaves giving her dad the stinkeye. Consuelo tells Artie that if this is the life that awaits her child (being humiliated) then she prefers to leave.

Artie tells Consuelo not to listen to Daniela. He informs her that he's off to Puerto Vallarta to locate Erick and asks her to be prudent and not to talk too much and to take care of his grandchild. Consuelo promises that she'll take care of herself and that she won't do anything until she has had a chance to speak with Erick. Artie tells her that whatever happens, even if she divorces Erick, that she'll always have his support. His grandchild won't be left unprotected. She asks him to understand that she's going to divorce Erick and leave. Artie asks her to wait until the baby is born and to think about it. He'll make sure that Erick doesn't bother her.

Later on, Nina makes another mistake by sporting her leopard print outfit. She comes in to see Consuelo and thanks her for not talking to the authorities. Consuelo lets her know that she won't.. at least for now. Nina laments that she's having a rough time but reminds her that she has the support of the entire family. Consuelo tells Nina that Erick doesn't deserve for her to help him but that she'll wait to talk to him before she makes her statement to the authorities. Nina tells her that she should back Erick up because he's the father of her child. Consuelo is glad that finally Nina doesn't doubt that Erick is the daddy. She tells Nina that she's only there because of her child. Nina is sure that things will get resolved. She leaves the room.

Sending over the warden

Julia asks David if he knows whether or not Erick has been found. David replies that as of right now, he hasn't. David gets a call and it's his dad. Julia talks to Eladio. Eladio tells Julia that he'll be sending over Efrain. Julia knew that Eladio couldn't remain calm without having her watched. Eladio claims that he's sending Efrain over to take care of her. He advises Julia not to talk too much and to not let David know what happened at the birthday bash because he doesn't want him to know what happened. Julia says that she should tell him, but she doesn't want his son to hate him.

Love is in the air in Puerto Vallarta

David and Regina are reunited in the hotel lobby. They hug. They kiss. David knew she was coming because she saw a pamphlet of Fiesta Americana hotel when they were talking about their new projects. She realizes that they'll be competing over the same project. He tells her how their love is his priority and that he's willing to step aside and let her have the project. She tells him that she couldn't go on competing if he did something like that. She doesn't want him to have problems with his dad because of the project. He doesn't care if he gets fired again. If he does then he's willing to start from zero. They both agree that they'll compete for the project fair and square. More kisses. He asks her how things are at home and she lets him know how they are all full of problems.

Julia shows up. Regina gets a call form her dad and lets her know that he's on his way over there because that's where Erick has been hiding. Julia finds out that Artie is coming. She looks away and David notices. Julia makes up an excuse about going to powder her nose and leaves. She calls up Gaby and lets her know that Artie is coming. She tells Gaby that she doesn't know what she'll do. Someone who knows them could see them and tell Eladio. She admits to Gaby that she actually does want to see Artie. Then she tells Gaby that she's so confused with what has been happening. She says that she'll just wait and see what happens and if she's able to see Artie. Gaby takes the opportunity to let her aunt know about Franco's marriage proposal from before. Julia seems happy about it.

The Ratt, who?

We spot Erick kissing some bimbo on the beach. He has a drink in hand and thanks his sleazy friend for giving him the support that not even his family gave him. Daniela calls but he doesn't answer. The sleazy friend assures Erick that no one will find him there. He asks Erick if he's not worried about the whole situation. Erick says that the only thing he is guilty of is of Ratt love, which is the dirty equivalent of puppy love. The sleazy friend actually says that he doesn't know how someone as hot as The Ratt could have paid any attention to someone not so handsome like Erick. He didn't use those exact words, but that's what he basically said.. LOL. Erick asks his sleazy friend not to talk about The Ratt that way. It hurts him what happened and he misses his Ratt. The sleazy friend reminds him that there are other fishes in the sea. Just take a look at those hot babes he has a friends. Erick agrees.

What happens in our home, stays in our home

Nina tells Daniela that for now they'll have to act as if they like Consuelo. *shudder* Daniela doesn't think that her mom should have blabbed about Erick's whereabouts. Nina says that she no other choice. Artie got so pissed off. Ugh, Daniela hates it when her dad, gets so umm.. intense. Daniela asks Nina if she thinks Erick really did exterminate The Ratt. Nina admits that deep down inside she has her doubts. Erick is so stupid and impulsive after all. Okay, I added that part about stupid, she didn't actually say that, although she must be thinking it for sure. Nina doesn't want Daniela blabbing what she told her to anyone. What happens in the Montenegro household, stays in the Montenegro household. Nina shudders to think of the scandal that will arise if Erick gets locked up. Already she had to turn off her phone because she was getting a million of phone calls. Daniela says at least now Eladio will get some attention since The Ratt was his mistress.

Gaby and Franco are getting hitched

Franco talks to Callao on the phone and asks him to locate Aldo. Gaby overhears and asks him if everything is alright. He replies that isn't and that the man that was slandering his padrino has disappeared. Franco says that he has to find him. Gaby thinks that he should rest because he's not better yet. Franco says that he promised his padrino that he'd help him. They get to talking about the marriage proposal and Franco tells her that he does want to get married to her. They kiss. He tells her that he'll need time because right now he doesn't have anything to offer her. He promises that he'll work hard to be able to give her what she deserves. She doesn't care if he's poor. She says that they'll find a way to get on in life. She tells him that her aunt will support their marriage. But she doesn't know about her grandfather. Franco, with all due respect, could care less what the rat bastard has to say. Franco says that he can't put a ring on it yet, but he can do something else.

They visit Eladio and Franco asks for Gaby's hand in marriage. Eladio is impactado. Gaby tells him that she and Franco love each other and hopes that he accepts their marriage. Eladio tells her that they are both old enough to decide what to do. He asks her if she is sure about getting married and she replies that she is. It's important for her to have the approval of the man who threw her around the room and manhandled her. Eladio asks if she thought about what her grandfather will say. Gaby asks him to please not let the rat bastard meddle in her and Franco's relationship. Eladio asks to be alone with Franco. Gaby leaves. Eladio pulls out his hand as if he's offering Franco a handshake. Franco gives him his hand and Eladio pulls him forward aggressively. Eladio is on to Franco and knows that Franco wants to get married because he's feeling lost right now. He makes it clear to Franco that if he marries Gaby then he'll get nada. Not even a lump of coal for a wedding gift. So congrats.

Thanks so much ,Mauricio, for that excellent recap.

Wow, at least Erick (and I am stressing the "Ick" syllable) is resilient. He fought his grief ,which lasted about 24 hours or so, and got right back on the...horse (?)

I like Nini's new hairstyle. That over one shoulder do had me wanting to push it back every time she was on the screen. But hey there.. Girl fills out a dress. She likes her necklaces and evidently could not decide on a favorite, so she wore them all.Hmmm....Art must be getting serious because when my mother called me by my full name, I knew that I was in deep, deep trouble.

The scene of David and his bikinied mom by the pool had me feeling a little uncomfortable. They could have been a couple instead of mom and sonny.

Thank you Mauricio, really enjoyed your retelling

"Regina tries on the boots that she bought from Clara. FF --> "

"Not even a lump of coal for a wedding gift. So congrats"

It was so cute watching Daniela walk to the vanity and spray on her mothers perfume. I see little Daniela doing this for years.

Have to say Nina is making a bit of a mess here. Art is a ranter and verbally abusive. A ranter needs someone to rant at and surprised Nina hasn't perfected the art of deflecting and getting away until he wears himself out. I notice Daniela knows and exits if she can.

Julia makes me uncomfortable no matter what she's doing or to whom she's speaking. She's just odd with no boundaries. How long has David been her knight in shining armor and savior? Ok, she's trying to suck Art into the role but David is captive and always her fall back, her own son.

Thank you Mauricio - you are always so witty!

I agree with tofie and the ... "Regina tries on the boots that she bought from Clara. FF --> "

My favorite is how you so artfully use the term "extermination" when talking about the Ratt's demise.

I really am hating Dani. I hope that bar bill from when she bought drinks for everyone comes to light. I'm not too keen on Erick either but he's just stupid.

Gracias, Mauricio.

How can anyone accuse Arturo of being verbally abusive in comparison to Eladio? That defies belief.

Daniela's spraying on her mother's perfume might seem creepy to some, but maybe the same stuff smells good on both of them.

Both of these families have serious boundary issues, mostly because of Nina and Eladio, who are both flaming narcissists. They have no boundaries because they see other people only in terms of themselves and they don't allow others to have boundaries that push them out. This is seriously unhealthy.

In fact, I wonder whether otherwise healthy families are erasing boundaries when they work together in a family-owned business, in which case it's no mystery why such businesses rarely continue past the founding generation.

And if Nina's real first name is "Ernestina" I can't blame her for abbreviating it to Nina.

I didn't mention Eladio anywhere in my comment and no comparison intended but an observation about Art and he rages and is verbally abusive.

Mauricio you are masterful at TN storytelling. Thank You.
My favorite of the show was when little Dani lied right to her Father's face about ErickRatLover, and he wrestled her phone away from her. He even had to reach around her with both arms, as she had the phone behind her back. Then he read the text she was in the process of sending to ERL.

Wonderful recap!

I thought it was sweet when Dani copied her mom and put on the perfume.

Connie has the family right where she wants. They are so afraid of what she might say she will have leverage for quite awhile. Good for her so she can keep Nina and Dani at bay.

Totally think Julia is acting weird and agree abt the boundaries. I couldn't believe she was venting to Gaby about Art but I guess the woman has no friends. She has to confide in someone but I don't think Gaby is appropriate.

I thought Art might have a heart attack when Dani let it out of the bag that she and Nina knew where Erick was. His frustration made me feel a bit stricken.

Someone mentioned something 'off' about David and Julia at poolside. I thought it iffy that he had his hand on her bare leg above the knee. Or...maybe I just wished it was my hand....... :-(

Whoa Mauricio...you really put your finger on the soft spot...

"...it's important for her [Gaby} to have the approval of the man who threw her around the room and manhandled her."

Well, yeah, guess you wouldn't want to make THAT guy mad. Could be another painful throwaround.

the Ratt who? Oh my, yes, Chimp Boy is recovering mighty fast. Rest in Peace, Ratt, Movin' on.

Thanks for a delightful, witty recap. I haven't had a chance to see this yet, but sure enjoyed your version of the events.

Don't forget about Purple Lips & Dani's hatred for Miguel.

Consuelo could still end up losing the baby with the abuse she's been getting from the beginning of this TN.

I saw the part where David & Julia were on the poolside. Disturbing indeed!

Thanks so much for another excellent recap, Mauricio. Well done.

However I must disagree with this assessment:

"...Nina makes another mistake by sporting her leopard print outfit."

I thought it looked great on her. She is one of the few women who could get away with it without looking cheap.

Gaby has 2 titular if not functional parents, so why was Franco asking Eladio for her hand in marriage?

Perhaps Arturo is not physically abusive but from what I've seen of him he is not a very effective or supportive father. I can't recall an encouraging thing that he has said to either Erick or Dani since the show began.

Perhaps Nina is not so fond of Coni since Coni seems to have no respect for her, either. She had a perfect opportunity to do a little bonding with her mother-in-law but chose to snit instead.

Carlos

We don't know exactly how long Gabriela has been in Eladio's house. Franco knows that nothing happens there without Eladio's approval.

The bigger question should be why he is asking anyone other than Gabriela. This isn't the 50s anymore.

Mauricio, hi welcome back, if you've been away. I haven't read a recap from you in a
While. Anyways good recap. Thank you sir.

Now eladio is a crazy raving lunatic. Franco
Is so pitifull. He needs psychos approval so
Badly its sad. That callio guy, he's pretty good at suckin up to eladio too. Something
About psycho helping his daughter or some
Such. Im sure eladio guilted him into being his Henchman. Guilt with a threat. This man really loves himself (eladio)more than anyone else. I Would really like to know what his story is.
How did he get so pompus?
Nina Is a drama queen.
Daniella is a nina wannabe.
Artie is kinda funny in a Ricky Ricardo way.
especially when he's yelling at Nina. If the war with eladio don't kill him his over dressed excessively made up wife and braty
Kids will. (Daniella).
What was the attraction that drew connie to
Erick? His striking good looks, his wonderfull cough*Intelligence*cough. The boy ain't to
Bright. Connie deserves better. I think she
Might have thought she hit the jackpot with
Him. No!!! Maybe the child can take after somebody on his side of the family or her side of the family. That poor kid.

Mauricio, I have been being reeled in by this show and your recaps are terrific. You are clever and amusing in an effortless way. Great job. I am really interested in this show because I find the characters interesting. I also have never seen a TN with Fernando C. Anywho, I am looking forward to seeing this world turn.

This was awesome Mauricio!

"Suxtobeyou", "Augie obviously knows that things might get ugly so he skedaddles out", "Nina gets grounded" and "Nina tells Daniela that for now they'll have to act as if they like Consuelo. *shudder*" were several of my favorites.

Nina seemed rather cunning which makes me wonder if she really thought she could keep knowing where Erick was a secret for very long. She is overestimating how much Arturo cares for her and underestimating the extent he will go to ferret out the truth.

Arturo has not been the best of fathers. He has been overindulgent and aloof to his children. He cheated on Julia years ago and is on the verge of cheating on Nina. He loves Miguel and Regina but he ignored Miguel and allowed him to be mocked and verbally abused in his own house. Nina is self centered and obsessed but the way that she treated Miguel makes me have no sympathy.

Julia does appear to be too clingy to her son. It is she who needs him and no parent should be so dependent on a child.

Doesn't Franco realize he will never meet with Eladio's approval? Not sure how he intends to try and get back into Eladio's "good graces" because of course, Eladio has utter contempt for everyone and cares for no one.

Diana

Eladio has utter contempt for everyone and cares for no one.

This is so true. No matter what he says he does not love Julia, either. Although he has never verbalized it he thinks that to love someone is weak. He does not like being vulnerable.

As to Franco, his most recent "screw-up" is no such thing. How on earth could he find Aldo at the building if he split while Franco and Eladio were talking about it? Nobody could have done that. He found out where the man had friends and relatives and reported back with that. No one could have done better in that situation.

We learned last week or so that Franco has worked for Eladio since he was 18. If the only boss you've ever had was a tyrant like him it's easy to subconsciously conclude that all bosses are like this.

Great read, Mauricio, what a pleasure. Thank You for all the work you do. A labor of love, it appears.

Inquiring minds hope Marintia will be outed soon. She is delusional working for a man who fires ANYONE on the drop of a hat and thinking she will not be found out. According to what she told Francofurter during one of his 'training' sessions we were unfortunately privy to, she was with Eladio previously. Does she think that has some semblance to job security?

I almost feel relieved for Francisco. Maybe Eladio forced him to get a better job. ANY job would beat working for Eladio. Yikes, somebody get that man a Snickers bar. Eladio is not as shrewd as he thinks himself to be. When a long term reliable member of the team unexpectedly screws up, the first thing is to step back and ask yourself, "What is wrong with this picture?" Not 'You are so fired !'

Martinita will eventually loose her job once she's exposed for getting Francisco fired.

Carlos: I agree with you about Counselo. She's a prisoner in the Montenegro household! I still see her losing the baby in the end!

Something tells me that Dani has something sinister planned to bust up David & Regina!

Diana,

"...the way that she treated Miguel makes me have no sympathy."

Nina is a pragmatist. I can't see her doing anything to knowingly damage her relationship with Arturo. Isn't it possible that the way she regards and treats Miguel is a reflection (perhaps amplified) of the attitude that Arturo has demonstrated toward Miguel?

Carlos

Carlos, Nina is a pragmatist in the sense that she had to have children with Arturo to insure her place knowing that he had a son already. Otherwise she would have remained simply a shapely sex machine. I couldn't imagine her enjoying her pregnancies.

She is a genetic narcissist. Had she never been able to have children of her own she would never have adopted any even if Arturo had wanted a houseful of children. Note that she refuses to acknowledge that Arturo was married to Miguel's mother by calling Miguel a "bastard."

It is natural for children who grow up together to see each other as siblings. Miguel was a baby when Nina married Arturo. I think that Erick would be no more than two years younger than Miguel and the girls would have followed shortly after him. Nina is offended whenever Regina or anyone else refers to Miguel as a brother: Note how she always "corrects" this to "half-brother." This is meant to drive a wedge between Miguel and her children, which is not conducive to family harmony.

No, she doesn't want any issues with her children to mess up her plans regarding her marriage. However, if she really wanted to be practical here she would back off and not try to protect Ape Child. His flight to avoid the police does not look good and that will not go unnoticed.

Thank you everyone. I'm so glad you all enjoyed the recap.

Poor Francisco. Hope that he goes to work for Grupo Montenegro. It's too bad he wasn't able to accuse Marintia of having changed the instructions that Eladio had given.

Glad that Regina and David have agreed to compete for the Fiesta Americana project by letting the best proposal win. Hope this won't change and that it won't cause any problems between them.

How long will it be before Aldo is found? And what could Eladio have planned for him?

It was cute when Daniela followed in her mom's footsteps and splashed some perfume on herself after she saw her mother do it.

Oh, and I was surprised to find out that Nina is short for Ernestina. She must not like it since everyone calls her Nina.

After watching the episode, Mauricio, it mostly seemed like one gigantic product placement. First for the shoe catalog whose logo was prominently displayed during the gratuitous boot fitting scene and close-ups of Regina's shapely legs and then a non-stop paen to the all-included luxury hotel industry in Mexico.

Mind you, I stayed in one of those for our daughter's destination wedding this November, and they are super...but not as a plot device in Pasion y Poder, I would say.

This was excellent, Mauricio! (Not that I expect any less of you.) Thanks so much! I especially enjoy the way you capture our characters with the perfect observation:

"Nina says that sometimes we kill for love. Oh snap. Watch out, Artie."

"Later on, Nina makes another mistake by sporting her leopard print outfit."

And this observation on Erick the Idiot Child, who is only guilty of "Ratt love, the dirty equvalent of puppy love." Hee hee.

JudyB, while I almost always agree with you, I have to admit that I don't mind product placement in these shows. In fact, the flirtation with Baileys on Amores Verdaderos was one of my favorite parts of the show. I also get a kick out of the travelogues, especially when they are promoting some of the more embattled places. (BTW, Regina seemed to have some problems walking in her new, ill-fitting shoes. That can't be good for business!)

Well my favorite, gratuitous product placement was in the historical novela, Alborada, where the tia of caray caray! fame suggested a modern day skin cream for our galan to use in his burn scars from childhood. Yeah, right.

Anyway, I just thought all that mother/son gushing about the amenities of the hotel was "de trop". Just call me Cranky!

"Glad that Regina and David have agreed to compete for the Fiesta Americana project by letting the best proposal win" But that will never happen because of who they work for and why both Regina and David have their head in a hole. Can they be stupid, stupid enough to believe Art and Eladio will play fair for the first time in their lives or the loser bow out gracefully?

I would understand this plot device better had they worked for their fathers, then met and sparks fly.

Hee hee. Definitely "de trop," JudyB. I would never call you cranky. It's just that sometimes you forget to Lower your Expectations when you step out onto the Patio.

Thanks Mauricio for your splendid recap with all its astute asides and humorous snippets! ¡Me encantó! :)

Is it lame that the thing I got most excited about in this episode was finding out Nina's real name? Anyhoo, as much I like the lovely curvalicious Ernestina with new hairdo, tamer makeup and all, I still believe she dropped the ball on this one. She should not have encouraged her chimp baby to escape and much less hide the fact that she knew his whereabouts from her husband. ¡Hiciste muy mal Ernestina! This is perhaps the first time I'm on board with something Arturo says or does. I completely understand why he went berserk, especially since he was sleep-deprived and plagued by worry for the disappearance of his trouble-magnet idiot son. Speaking of the genius ape, after this episode, he has become the prime suspect of RatHo's extermination as far as I'm concerned. He got over the death of his beloved Montse way too quickly for my taste…

As for the product placement, just like many here, I found it pretty annoying too. Not so much the fact that they have it - they gotta bring in extra dough somehow - but they went overboard: it was the hotel then the Andrea catalogue thingy then the hotel again, the amenities spiel, the gushing by the pool… It got excessive for a single episode and disrupted the pace quite a bit in my opinion.

I look forward to the imminent encounter of our randy star-crossed middle-aged teenagers in Vallarta! Something tells me they'll behave just like decent married individuals whose respective kids are dating each other should behave… NOT!

-- A quote from the capítulo --

“No vamos a escatimar en gastos hasta esclarecer este asunto.” *

* Eladio pledging his financial support to help investigate a murder he may or may not have committed: “ We will spare no expense until we clear up this matter”.

Escatimar = to scrimp, to pinch pennies.

Gasto = expense, spending.

Esclarecer = to clear up, to clarify, to solve, to elucidate.

Asunto = matter, issue, question.

Hi U.A. I know 5 women who have gotten married within the past 9 years. 4 of them were in their 30's when they married. The grooms each approached the bride's fathers to ask for her hand in marriage. One even flew to England. All of the women lived with their husbands prior to marriage, so I didn't see the big deal about asking to marry her since they didn't ask to sleep with her before marriage. Ok,so the 5th marriage was my 27 year old son. I told him to ask for her hand in marriage because...he was living with her too. Well, he refused to do it. He said that I was being old fashioned. We got into a screaming match. Long story short. I was told by my co-suegra, all of her uncles and her grandfather that it was very rude of my son not to ask. Every once in a while it gets brought up at family events. It must be an unknown guy code because men seem to still expect it.

P.S. They were all American men of different ethnicity. One was Jewish, one Mexican, 2 white protestestants and a black. I think it's a guy thing.

-- Cynderella: Es cierto. I have witnessed (been told of) many instances among family members, friends and acquaintances of various nationalities, ethnicities and religious (or areligious) backgrounds where the groom was expected to consult his own family as well as his future wife's family before making the engagement formal. It's not about asking permission per say, it's just a common courtesy that is expected to show respect to both families that are soon to be joined in marriage. I know that opinions on this may vary, but I personally don't see anything strange or degrading about this practice.
The only thing I find odd in Franco and Gabi's case is that her parents are said to be alive yet it seems that the writers have no intention to introduce them to us. Why didn't they write Gabi as an orphan? It would be more in line with her living at her aunt and being supported by Uncle Eladio.

Mauricio---Your great recaps add so much to the weekends. Please keep them coming.

He's not a murderer, or in this case an exterminator.

ratt love is the dirty equivalent of puppy love

How can anyone accuse Arturo is being verbally abusive in comparison to Eladio? That defies belief. --- I say that someone needs to be verbally abusive to both mother and daughter rat. There seems to be a whole pack of dirty bruja rats here. Marintia is one too.

Carlos---Art didn't encourage Erick or Dani. Well Carlos please tell me how do you encourage two dirty rats?
Nina is not so fond of Connie. Really Carlos? She hates Connie. Has all of those double margaritas at the Nina table affected your eyesight?

Did the underweight mouse Consuelo do in the bigger Ratt? Under normal conditions, Consuelo would be no match for the larger Montserrat but Montse was very drunk and could have lost her balance if pushed. And yet, there was no sound or cry during the fall. A big mystery that may not be solved for a while.

What is Erick up too?

* living at her aunt's

I guess that should have been to instead of too.

Product placements have never bothered me in the slightest. There was much talk about Doritos being on the shelf of a little store in LQNPA. So what is the store owner supposed to do, turn all labels to the back? In real life there are always things present and so I see no problem in this regard.

the gringo

Nandicta, I don't see anything wrong with it either. I think that the bride or the groom are in love or in heat. When you are in love you overlook certain things. One of my neighbors was dating a girl who would only visit him every two weeks...because he got paid every two weeks. I knew what she was, but he couldn't see it because he was in love. She dumped him as soon as he started wanting to do free things.

Cynderella...I !ike your photo.

Our Canadian soninlaw called Hub from Paris to ask for our daughter's hand . Just a courtesy.

-- Gringo: I believe those were "Tostitos", "Doritos" Mexican cousins (?).

-- Cynderella: I totally agree. Love, lust and - to a certain degree - the need for instant gratification can severely hinder one's judgement when it comes to choosing a spouse/ long-term romantic partner. In the last 2 months alone, the children of 3 of my parents' friends initiated divorce proceedings and neither of these couples have even completed their first year of marriage! One couple actually had a huge falling out involving bride, groom AND their respective families during the wedding! A brouhaha broke out in the middle of a the lavish reception and the "lovebirds" split up right there and then! I've been seeing / hearing about so many of these sad examples lately, I'm glad I have the escapism of TNs to provide me with totally unrealistic "galanes" and near-quixotic love stories! :)

Why Nina? Wouldn't the nickname for Ernestina be Tina? Then again...why do I care????

-- Susanlynn: I've given so much thought to the revelation of the full first name, the way "Ernestina" sounds, why Ernestina would dislike her name so, how come she shortened it to "Nina" and not "Tina" or "Nessa" or "Nessie" or even "Ernie" :D
I was so excited when I heard Art mumble "Ernestina", I rushed to the blog and posted this amazing revelation on Thursday's recap! I don't understand why I'm giving this so much importance… I think I inadvertently turned into a Nina groupie! Yikes!

Nandicta...Yes, I think that the divorce rate in The U.S. might be over 50% now. It used to be that women had no way of supporting themselves, so they had no choice but to stay married. I have a group of four friends. We all taught together and have eight children between us. Of our children, there are four girls and four boys. Two of the girls have been divorced twice. My younger daughter has gone through one awful divorce and has not remarried. My older daughter called off a wedding and is now married. One of the boys is divorced and one is widowed.

However, some marriages are happy and do !ast . I have been married to my high school sweetheart for a long time, and he is still my sweetheart.

**OT**

-- Susanlynn: I understand and I'm glad that women nowadays have the means to support themselves and more options to do so; hence the married ones no longer have that dire choice of either staying in an unhappy/unhealthy relationship or starving. I'm truly grateful that I have more choices and opportunities in life (and love) than my Grandma ever had. However, I'm noticing that women my age (31) and younger tend to have a really shallow view of marriage. It's either about settling down quick because your "expiration date" is approaching (Although Moroccan society is much more liberal than other Arab countries, it remains very patriarchal and sexist) or it's a competition to find the best and richest "marrying material" to show the other girls of the family that you managed to land the most enviable cash-cow there was. Guys are not faring any better in this regard, they don't know how to keep themselves fed or clean when they leave the family cocoon, so they keep sowing wild oats until Mommy finds them a "respectable" girl, i.e. an ingenue of their social class who'll be cool, modern but at the same time meek and malleable when the situation calls for it. Of course I can't make such sweeping generalizations about a whole generation / culture but these are the prevailing examples that I encounter. It's like a war of the sexes where each one goes into the relationship intent on being the dominant almighty half. I personally believe that this is the result of an identity crisis (young people are torn between tradition and modernity, local customs and global influences), a misguided definition of self-worth and of success (you're worth how much you make, what you own and who you're seen with) as well as society and peer pressure (if you're not married with children by a certain age then something is seriously wrong with you. Everybody and their mother starts panicking on your behalf, volunteering unsolicited advice and actively pairing you up with who they deem to be perfect candidates to share your life). Seeing how I'm the intellectual, feminist, outspoken one in the family, I've all but been classified as the loud-mouthed, insolent, haughty, castrating and very-soon-to-be spinster who'll wind up living alone surrounded by cats, regrets and bitterness! :D I personally don't care how my extended family or family friends feel about me. I curtly reject their meddling into my life and don't care if they feel offended. The people that I care the most about in this world, i.e. my parents, my brothers and my closest friends give me their unconditional love and their full support, they accept me just as I am, they are proud of me, they've always encouraged me to cultivate my independence and they would never pressure me (or allow anyone to pressure me) to make a decision I am not 100% convinced of. In this respect, I am incredibly lucky and I'm very thankful for this great gift that life bestowed upon me.

I wish you many many many more years of wedded bliss with your Number One Galán and I'm willing with all my heart that each of your "bairns" (Scots for children) encounters happiness, stability and serenity in their love lives.

gringo,

"Well Carlos please tell me how do you encourage two dirty rats?"

Well, if they're your own children, gently, with a lot of love, care, and an abundance of patience.

"Has all of those double margaritas at the Nina table affected your eyesight?"

Actually, these days they're Martinis... and after a couple I become the Rat Whisperer.

Carlos

-- Carlos: Thanks for the laugh! All hail the Rat Whisperer! :D

Nandicta..Wow. That was a very interesting peek into another culture. I have had students whose marriages were arranged by their families. One student from Morrocco quit school at a young age to marry. She was worried when she started my ESL classes, but she was smart and quickly excelled which gave her a lot of confidence .

Life in the 21st century has become complex . Simplicity has value. I am striving for staying in the moment and being grateful for any good.

Carlos...no Dark and Stormies?

♥Susanlynn,

That Martini that Artie was sipping at the hotel just looked so inviting. I've noticed that you also enjoy the occasional Whiskey Sour. If our Sylvia ever returns from the high seas there'll be Dark'n Stormies for the entire Patio.

Carlos

Carlos, I am having a cuppa hot mint tea right now while I watch the Golden Globes , but I would enjoy sharing a stronger drink on the rocks with you and our Sylvia. A toast then..."To ancient music and distant fires!" Slainte!

Carlos---It seems that you made Nandicta laugh. I have to admit that you had me smiling with Rat Whisperer.

Nina Perez sounds more elegant than Tina Perez.

Tina Perez sounds like a backup dancer for a 90s hip hop video.

Thank you Mauricio, your recaps are witty and descriptive.

Looks like Erick moved on a bit to quickly.
I'm loving FC's potrayal of Eladio, it makes the novela more interesting.

Elorej

-- Anon207: Hahahaha, maybe that was the extent of her acting career before she converted herself into la Señora Nina de Montenegro.

-- Elorej: I agree. To me, Eladio is the leading character in this show and the reason I tune in faithfully to watch. It's a pleasure to see FC flex his acting muscle in this role.

Nandicta, I agree with that latest comment about Nina because Anon207 is right.

Now gearing up for two weeks of double episodes.

Yikes...double episodes...this is what makes recappers hang up their skates. I remember doing double episodes for Dinero and it was just miserable. Wishing you luck, energy and stamina, UA.

2 weeks of double episodes? Houcha Magoucha! That's going to be a substantial undertaking! Best of luck to UA and the rest of our valiant PyP recappers! If anyone of you needs me to take an episode off their hands this fortnight or if I can help out in any way, please don't hesitate to let me know. Lo haría de todo corazón. :)

I did 4 consecutive weeks of them during La Fuerza del Destino and survived... and that was my first series. However, I just checked one of those and it was shorter than this one will be. But since it's only for two weeks, no big deal.

JudyB, I remember the extended double episodes on some of the past comedies and on Refugio and I feel for you guys. The 7PM timeslot seems really vulnerable to that. I'm surprised that hasn't happened with MIVAC, but it occurred to me as I typed that acronym that this might be why that series is being edited to death. And I'm behind on it now.

-- UA: Do we know how long PyP is going to be? I read somewhere that the older version was 80 or 85 episodes.

Televisa issued a press release some months ago that all future series will be about the same length as YNCELH, so this one will probably be around 120-125 episodes.

I've never seen the previous version but I'm sure that there are story differences that will justify 35-40 more episodes. We've not had that much filler yet and now with a murder investigation we should have a lot of juicy stuff.

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm glad Televisa is no longer going to produce those horrendously-long filler-infested 170 to 200+ episodes telenovelas. I've never seen the older PyP either (I might check it out some time this year out of curiosity, but I'm not a fan of Enrique Rocha so maybe I won't), I just know that it followed the 1980's Televisa convention of producing TNs that were roughly between 60 and 90 episodes long.

I began watching them in 1993 when they were typically 80-100 episodes. Stories with mother and daughter protagonists (as in AMF and EPdA) were 135-160 episodes because they also usually had two pairs of villains and there needed to be adequate screen time for both sets of protagonists and villains.

EPdA had 155 episodes and almost no filler. It's tons better than TdA (176 episodes) and also because of the cast. Poder will work if the writing continues to improve because it has a great cast of actors who can elevate inferior material. They also have good chemistry.

I agree that Fernando Colunga is doing an excellent job but I am a Susana Gonzalez fan all the way. As a male, I do admit that I trend for the female actresses but come on---Fernando is showing us perfection in portraying anger and his quest for total control but Susana is giving us so much more. Fear, hurt, uncertainty, desperation, longing, hope and so much more. Susana Gonzalez should have taken home a Golden Globe Award last night.

-- Gringo: I first discovered Susana González in "Pasión" and have been a huge fan of hers ever since. She is extremely talented, can convey conflicted feelings with one simple look and her acting range is impressive; not to mention how breathtakingly beautiful, graceful and mesmerizing she is every minute she graces our screen. I may find the character of Julia annoying but I love, love, love watching SG play Julia! I realize that I tend to gush more about Marlene Favela (Nina) and I do consider her my "girl crush" in this TN but it's purely because of the novelty. I had never seen the actress in anything before and I was surprised at how good she was (and slightly hypnotized by the garish outfits and neon lips!). Still, SG remains in a category of her own as far as I'm concerned. She is what the French call a "valeur sûre", a safe bet, a solid value… She never ever disappoints! :)

Nandicta---I first saw Ms Gonzalez in La Que No Podia Amar. She wasn't the main female lead, A young beautiful Latin Goddess Ana Brenda Contreras was. Susana however did have a big role as Cynthia Montero. She kept me riveted to the screen night after night and I knew that from that novela on that Susana was the one to beat---she blew me out of the water. Susana later said in an interview that she went home at night literally exhausted from a day on the set in that demanding role.

I have seen her in three novelas since then and I must say that she never accepts an easy role. In her novela just before Pasion, SG was only in the first nineteen episodes but they were so powerful that you just couldn't forget her all the way through. The novela starts out at her daughters baptism and I will just say that she is not a happy camper. A few short scenes later, she is at a lavish reception (uninvited) of another baptism where she explodes and has to be thrown out. For the rest of the nineteen episodes she is a runaway train about to derail. It was absolutely a magnificent nineteen episodes. --- I love her and can truthfully say that I have never seen anyone better.

Yes, Marlene as bruja Nina is doing a great job as well. She is trying her best to hold onto her Arturo. Can't wait to see how this will end.

must see tv
the gringo

Thanks Maurico for the great recap. I didn't see this ep, so even more appreciated.

Fav quote (of so many stellar quotes): "Nina says that sometimes we kill for love. Oh snap. Watch out, Artie."

I'm glad they're producing less eps per show. I think the shorter the better. Keeps the story moving and tight--not much time for filler, and no unecessary extensions.

Nanette

Gringo, I keep wondering whether SG and JS are slightly freaked out at playing lovers after playing siblings in LQNPA!

Urban, I just feel like there's something in Purple Lips' past that she's ashamed of or something.

She also spews her hatred to Regina too by treating her like crap!

-- Gringo: You're absolutely right, SG was magnetic in LQNA! I've never seen "La Sombra del Pasado" but her brief stint in that TN was so highly acclaimed that I'm tempted to check out the episodes she's in immediately after I watch "El Manantial", the Carla Estrada production that LSDP was based on. Only a brilliant actor of SG's caliber can captivate and inspire admiration when they play a villain.

-- Nanette: I totally agree. With only a couple of notable exceptions, all the truly outstanding TNs I've seen had one thing in common: they were under 100 episodes! Like UA said, "El Privilegio de Amar" was excellent despite being 155 episodes long. I haven't had a chance to see it yet but Carla Estrada never disappoints and if she deemed that the story needed 155 episodes then I completely trust her judgement. Can't wait for her to come back to producing, she is sorely missed!

-- UA: Seeing how I only finished watching LQNPA about a month ago, I'm freaked out by the Cynthia-Rogelio, I mean the Julia-Arturo romance! Especially since the promotional photo of the LQNA siblings is the one Arturo drools over everytime he locks himself into his office to reminisce about the long lost object of his lust.

Steve, that is entirely possible but we haven't been given any details about it. As to how she treats Regina, that is standard for narcissistic mothers with daughters who are not like them. And if Regina were any less attractive than she is that would be much worse. Trust me.

Chanel #5 may not fix things, but it sure as hell smells good. She'll just be a sweet smellin wife who loves purple lipstick tryin to hold on to a hubby, Who wants someone else.
She'll probably pull out every sexaul trick she
Can think of to keep him comin back for more. This lady is all about nina montanegro
I don't even think she thinks her children are as important as she is, well maybe Eric and the rest of them they're on their own. She's a
"Me" person.

True. When she didn't seem overly concerned about Erick skipping town and what effect this would have that was the capper on her whole "Let's move here to New York" thing from last week.

Mauricio,
Great recap for Friday's epi. Thanks so much.

I don't know what to think anymore about these characters. I don't see any galan material, in the traditional TN sense. Maybe David, even though he slept with Dani first, but in all fairness he didn't keep it a secret from Regina. Anyway, for the first time in a long time I can not predict what is going to happen in this story and for that I am grateful. Don't get me wrong, I love me some traditional TN's too, especially if I really like the main couple, but I like a variation too.

I would also like to thank NovelaMaven for last weeks recap. I am always left in awe of your writing.

Hasta Pronto!

Oh my gosh i don't know why i didn't realize it before. Do any of you guys remember the Novela, La Mujer del Vendaval?? Well creepy Miguel was Mauro in that novela. He was pretty hot in LMDV. Remembering him from that novela actually makes him a bit less Creepy to me. Just a thought.

Ana- The actor has been in La Sombra del Pasado and La Fuerza del Destino too. This is the first role I've seen him in where I didn't really love him. I think something is off with the way the Miguel character has been written and directed and the actor just doesn't know what to do with him.
