Antes Muerta que Lichita #94 Thursday 2/4/16: Luciana Learns a Thing or Two but Dafne Outshines them All!

Alicia praises Santiago for how great he has been, almost like a prince, to her BUT she does not want to marry him. Santiago does not understand why when she just accepted his proposal. Alicia reasons that she felt pressured to accept his proposal since he did it in front of everyone...the media, her family...etc she had no other choice. Plus she does not think she is ready for marriage...she just wants to focus on her career right now. Santiago cuts to the chase...he wants to know the real reason for her rejection...is it her work or Roberto (ding ding ding). Alicia cannot deny her lingering feelings for Roberto but she tells Santiago that this decision has more to do with herself and no one else. At this point, Santiago feels hurt and abruptly leaves. Forth wall Alicia tells the audience of her doubts...was this really the right decision for her?

Luciana and Roberto are in their room discussing divorce. Luciana would rather die than get a divorce. Roberto tries to reason with her that they are not in love. He believes she accepted this marriage on a whim and also to rub it in Alicia's face. He tries to tell her the only reason he pushed for the marriage was to get his son back. Before he can actually continue telling the truth for once Luciana shuts him up. She will never grant him a divorce...it has not even been a year...what will people think of her. No way! Nope Mr!

Bea and Val meet up at a restaurant. Bea is ready to listen to Val's account of her affair with Augusto. At the end, Val knows they can never be friends but begs for forgiveness for her past actions. Bea accepts this time and wonders if Luciana knows this side of the story. Sadly, Val cannot get Luciana to listen to her. She is just too full of hate. The wheels turn in Bea's head.

Gummy and Beto meet in their usual place to catch up. Roberto conveys that he asked Luciana for a divorce since he truly loves Alicia. Gummy does not hide his excitement but before he can confess his true feelings for Luciana, Beto gets a message from Alicia to call her ASAP.

Alicia and Roberto have an adult conversation for once. She is worried because of their past and she wonders if everything can be erased and if they really can start anew. Of course, Beto tells her not to worry and assures her that they can. He promises her the moon (ok not really but they sound empty to me) and says lots of lovey dovey things. Regardless, she wants to take things slow. He promises that tomorrow he will explain everything (we've heard that before)...he has something important to attend to in the morning and he needs to focus on that. When she asks him to explain further he refrains for the moment.

Luciana has a heart to heart with Gumaro in his room. She reveals that she is scared of being labeled a failure now that Roberto wants a divorce. Nothing seems to go right for her...and being the daughter of Augusto did nothing for her. She does not have the job she wanted at Iconika, nor did Augusto officially acknowledge her as his daughter. She misses her mother now. Gumaro provides comfort in her state of distress. In a moment of weakness, she admits that she is falling in love with Gummy. When she realizes what she said she backtracks. Luciana explains that she was caught up in the emotion and exaggerated her words.

At the Cafecito, Alicia breaks it to the family that she will not marry Santiago. Everyone but Elsa looks shocked. She gives them the flimsy excuse she gave Santiago which was that she just wants to focus on her career. Elsa has that mother's intuition and cannot be fooled. She pulls Alicia aside and asks what is really going on. She knows that Alicia is hiding the whole truth from her.

Bea wants to discuss about Luciana's mother which does not please Luciana. She informs Luci that Augusto is not all that he is cracked up to be. He is manipulative and set her up in a compromising situation to get his way. He also committed a sin by having an affair. As Bea walks away, Luci realizes she is more like her mother than she thought. They both did not remain faithful to their loved ones.

Roberto and Vladimir meet to discuss his last proposition. Roberto caves in to Vladimir's demands to protect anyone from finding out about his past. He gives up the location of Sofia in exchange for Vladimir silence and disappearance from his life. Roberto gives a good performance of seeming desperate and assures Vladimir that he has nothing to gain from setting him up.

Santiago ponders the meaning of life on some rooftop until Felix interrupts him with the dish on Roberto. Felix hopes Santiago will not do anything that he will regret later. Since Roberto did not play but the rules he is allowed to get his hands a little dirty. However, he reassures Felix he will not be foolish like our dear Roberto.

Sandra and her crew are courting the Daffy blog owner to meet with them. On the other side, Dafne makes sure that Sandra knows who really is in control. Later, Dafne shows up thirty minutes late to the meeting with Sandra and their possible client. Sandra is shocked when Dafne shows up. She no sooner begins to inform the client and Sandra's affair with her father. Sandra tries to steer the meeting away personal matters but their client has had enough. She no longer wants to work with Madeline and will choose another agency. Mission accomplished for Dafne who informs Sandra she did this as payback for what she did to her mother...now Adios!!

Alicia convinces Augusto to support Alex's work with the travel agency. She pleads her case saying that it will be good to modernize the image of Iconika and it will also bring in $$ (even if its not one of their biggest accounts). Augusto agrees to let Alex continue but he lets her know that he is only doing it for HER.

Vladimir acts quick to find Sofia at the location Roberto gave him (I think its a refuge place for women). He asks for Sofia, pretending he is an old friend of the family. Upon seeing other girls passing through, he tells the receptionist that he is also interested in helping other girls here. Sofia comes out and finds Vladimir waiting for her. She is clearly frightened of him, but Vladimir clutches her in his grasps. He's glad they are finally reacquainted and disappointed that she choose this place over him. He wants to know how she came her. The cops burst in and a cheesy hostage showdown takes place for a second before Vladimir makes a run for it. Out of nowhere the old receptionist jumps over the counter and runs after the cops. The cops should be ashamed of not reaching Vladmir before the old guy who knocks him out cold. As I suspected, Roberto was disguised as the old guy. Vladimir swears that this has not ended. Sofia and her mom do a quick PSA of children meeting strangers online who turn out to be not who they say they are.

Sandra invites Elias over to her place to relay the days events which her mortifying for her. He gets Sandra to admit her lack of anyone to talk to. She rants about the lack of talent in Madeline which was why she had to steal ideas from Iconika. He then proceeds to remind her of how good of a pair there were (Darn, I was hoping him and Bea had a little something).

Luciana wants to talk to Roberto and they meet in his office for privacy. She's been thinking about what he said last night. She agrees with him, they are not in love and she will grant him the divorce. She is worried how her family will take the news though. Roberto admits that he really cares for Luciana but as a friend. Deep deep deep down there somewhere hidden in some obscure corner (ok I embellished a little) he knows that she is a good person. They ry. ch an amicable agreement but Mr. Busybody known as Don Augusto bursts their individual bubbles. There will be no divorce in his family (minus his I guess).

Santiago wants to meet with Alicia before he leaves for Paris. He apologizes for leaving her at the restaurant and for his behaviors. Santiago feels like they should end on friendly terms so Alicia agrees. In this meeting her begins to question Alicia on how well she truly knows Roberto. He informs her that Roberto was never a news reporter or publicist for that matter. Heck , he his not even sure if his name is really Roberto. In fact he spend the last few years in jail for fraud. Alicia does not believe a word Santiago uttered until he shows her the papers. Shocked faces all around (ok just Alicia at this point).

CeCe, thank you. This was great. Yes, "the cheesy hostage showdown" says it best! These "action scenes" do not seem to be a strong suit of the novelas I have seen. .

What a great episode with so many plot resolutions! It was about time. Also, it was a regular single episode! Yay!

I especially enjoyed:

The Dafne revenge takedown of Sandra delivering the "most humiliating" day of her life. Sandra was lucky that Elías was there for her.
Santiago giving Alicia the folder with the truth about Roberto--something Roberto has been able to do all this time but has always left it for another time.
Beatriz talking to Luciana about Valeria and making sure Augusto got his full share of the blame.
Luciana and Gumaro.
Chuchette not knowing what LGBT was. Another PSA with the plot line and explanation?

I cannot wait until tonight as the dust settles from all this action!

Great recap CeCe. Thanks

"(we've heard that before)"

Again, ironic Roberto delivers the PSA on the dangers of men fooling girls by concealing their identity

It is pathetic how Alicia is defending Roberto to the end. Before it was sad and I felt sorry for her, I no longer do

I also was hopeful an Elias and Beatriz romance would bloom

Santiago, the messenger always gets shot, not the offender

CeCe, thank you. This was great. Our psychotic weather here in South Florida conspired against Lichita (and me) last night and I was lost until I read your recap. Thanks again.

Poor Elias, I also thought he and Bea might have a little spark. Although I suspect Bea would be scarcely better than Sandra though for different reason. I say poor Elias because he can not seem to purge Sandra from his soul. She deserves nothing from him. I wouldn't give that beaioch the time of day. But Elias is still her 'go to' guy when her actions to destroy her life come home to roost and she is all alone. Ugh !

Daddy is just extraordinary. What a smart, lovable kid. Augusto: I hope someday you realize (too late) the treasure you discarded because it was not shiny enough for you. Jerk.

Oops Daffy, not Daddy

CeCe, thank you for your fantastic recap.

"Santiago cuts to the chase...he wants to know the real reason for her rejection...is it her work or Roberto (ding ding ding)" said it all, didn't it?

Jarifa, I agreed with enjoying everything on your list, particularly Gumaro and Luci! Can you imagine Augusto ever accepting Gumaro? The thought makes me smile with glee and anticipation.

I will never be able to understand why Alicia loves Roberto, but the truth is - she does. I wish the image of Santiago as the knight in shining armor had stayed intact. He stepped off his pedestal when he became surly yet I will continue to think of him and what might have been for Alicia had she not continue to harbor her love for Roberto.

I was also very sorry to see Elias comfort Sandra. I'm sorry but she has been vile, controlling and very hurtful. She cloaked herself in bitterness and tried to ruin Alicia without remorse. Elias is clearly way too good for her. Count me in on thinking he was going to end up with Bea.

Still looking forward to Augusto's fall.

And Kirbo, you echo my feelings on daphe's treatment by her father: "I hope someday you realize (too late) the treasure you discarded". Amen to that.

Thank you CeCe!

Diana

Diana, I am anticipating an appropriate anvil for Augusto that will wipe the smirk off his face. Cannot wait.

Great recap Cece!!

Agree with everyone that I too was disappointed Elias went back with Sandra. I was hoping sparks would begin with him and Bea. Also, glad Bea stepped in to try to help Luci and Val.

I can't imagine Luci actually going through with having Gum as a novio. He is poor and all she knows how to do is spend money. So far we have seen no talent from her but to spew hateful insults and disparage people.

Rob's delay delay delay in telling any truth to Alicia is now going to really come back and bite him.

Rob did do well to get Vlad off the streets. Nice to see that detective is good for something. I was starting to wonder if he was legit.

I thought it was interesting when Val asked Bea if she had seen Rafa's pill case.

Dafne was awesome and Sandra deserved what she got.

I loved when Alicia told the group they were moving forward with the LGBT account and Nestor was like, this agency is about decency. When has Nestor shown one ounce of decency? Never.

Carvivlie "He is poor and all she knows how to do is spend money." It kinda looks like she may know how to do one other thing. :) The one thing Gummy Bear has been helping her with, so, we can all hope.

I liked it how Alicia put Mr. Homophobe himself, Nestor on the LGBT account. Maybe he can come out and find a boyfriend.

Haha Kirbo I did forget that! Though neither Gummy nor Luci had gotten it in quite awhile, he in jail, her engaged to a 90 year old and then Rob, so I'm sure anything seems good to the two of them.

The highlights of this episode were Dafne putting Sandra in her place and Nestor having to help Alex with the LGBT account.

I did feel a little tiny bit of pity for Luciana. Her fears of feeling like a failure and not finding her place in the world made me feel sorry for her....but if she was a nicer human being I am sure she would have a much easier time.

Low points are Alicia and Roberto but whatever. And also Elias still having feelings for Sandra. Sandra is just so bitter and nasty...Elias deserves much better.

Agree Cece. If Luci had shown any humanity in her interactions with others maybe I could feel something for her now but it is still all about her and what she is or isn't getting.

Thanks, Cece. Terrific recap.

Count me bummed too that sparks didn't fly between Bea and Elias.

Thank you CeCe---It's really getting good isn't it? Things are really moving.

I agree with most all of the comments today.

So Elias is going to end up with a bitter and hate filled woman. I wonder if Elias will be able to smooth out some of that hate that Sandra is holding on to.

Dafne was last nights star.

It has all come out in todays comments as to Luciana and Gumaro but I have been thinking about for sometime now. Luci looks down on the average or lower classed people and Gummy isn't very high on the ladder so to speak. Will love really change her? She has treated others so badly in the past, can that now somehow disappear from her I'm better than you character?

What will become of Augusto when this all ends--jail?

Can't wait for tonight when Alicia learn the truth about Roberto. How will it affect her? I won't miss one minute of tonight's show.

must see tv
the gringo

I'm just hoping Augie's actions in killing his brother are unearthed. He's such a big guy that I can see him being a force to be reckoned with in jail. Hope he goes to jail.

Yes, Augie deserves a life sentence. What does Néstor deserve?

Nestor deserves to be stuck on a LGBT Tour to promote the brand.

Nestor deserves to lose his job, his credibility (not that he ever had it), and be forced to be without resources. Perhaps trying to eke out a livelihood will humble him. May those who have power over him - potential boss, etc. treat him kindlier than he ever treated Alicia.

Jarifa, I can't recall ever loathing a (technically) non-villain character so much!

Diana

Gringo. Luc/Gum: Not to dwell on it, but there is only one thing going on between Loosey Legs and Gummy Bear. But I must say, he has got her pretty happy. I surely don't know much about these things, but he may unlock her inner niceness everyone hopes is in there some----where.

She is a snobby, snooty, haughty, class shaming witch most of the time, but when the Gummer is in the picture, she is a different girl. But I would love to see her anvil be getting caught.
