Pasion y Poder #87 20160215 I Wasn't Kissing Your Boyfriend's Mother, I was Just Cleaning Her Tonsils!
Please use this as a discussion page. If anyone would like to give a brief synopsis of what happened last night, I will post it when I get to work. Just put in in the comment section. Thanks.

My biggest takeaway last night was that Regina became the most annoying person ever. Understandably, she's upset with her dad smooching Julia. But breaking up with David because of this, simply stupid -- especially after David told his mom to "get out!"
Also, very sad when Regina told her mom about the kiss.
Franco figures that Humberto is the one who leaked he's Eladio's son.
Dani tells Erick she's dating Ashmore. Erick's thinks he's too old for her, but hey he's fine with him as little Erick's godfather.
David is still trying to fight for his love, but they turned him away when he came to the Montenegro mansion.
OK Regi:
A. You absolutely positively CAN NOT live without David
B. You absolutely positively CAN NOT live with David.
Only one solution, here is my Glock, goodbye. Stop tormenting the kid, he is a nice boy.
I don't watch this TN, but just wanted to comment that I LOVE your title. :-)
Best wishes to your mother!
I am sending out prayers and good vibrations)))) to your mother and to you. You are a good daughter, cher. Remember to take care of yourself while you are taking care of your mother. Caretakers often forget to do that.
Regina is completely over-reacting. She and David -- who thus far were the sanest and most sensible characters in this story -- are going off the deep end. Franco is, too, although I noticed that look on his face when he embraced Caridad. He is planning to use her to try to get what he wants, but there is a preemie anvil waiting for him.
Someone correctly pointed out in a previous discussion that adultery and its possible consequences isn't any big deal in this environment. There is no good reason for Eladio to refuse to recognize Franco, which is what is driving him to his current actions. Julia now knows, so what is the issue other than Eladio's refusal to accept either Franco, Caridad, or Gaby's words that they didn't tell her.
Will we ever see those shrinks again? Julia needs one right now and a better one than she had.
Did anyone recognize the witness? I don't have time to rewatch episode 42, but I think he was someone whom Erick passed on the street after leaving the Rat's nest. We may ultimately learn that Eladio bribed him first or threatened him through Callao.
The $1Million pesos = about $53.1K US (less than the $77K of two years ago).
Forgot about this the other day but the champagne Arturo sent to Eladio is likely to be this. Eladio may not know enough about champagne to realize this is the top of the list stuff.
The only thing "stable" about Daniela is the predictability of her behavior. If I had a sister like her it would have driven me out of the house far sooner than Regina left hers.
Niecie in MD, I completely agree. Regina doesn't deserve David, my heart broke when David broke down and said he couldn't take it anymore, he's the one that's been working so hard to make their relationship work and Regina just gives up everytime. I was disgusted with Regina when she went straight to her mom to give her the chisme. I can't stand her anymore.
There are very few characters I am NOT disgusted with. At this point that would be:
Clara
Consuelo
Miguel
Baby Erick
David, although I hated the way he told his mother to leave but that makes me hate Regina more.
Niecie--You got the highlights perfectly. There is little to add to the action, but plenty to discuss.
We all seem to agree that Regina caved and caved too quickly. Her main argument was, "How do we handle El Dia de los Muertos with the two sides of the family having betrayed US?" She thinks they will end up hating each other and it would be better for both of them to part on good terms, knowing they will love each other forevva. QTH? Sorry, but I've thought Regina has been playing Aldonza the whole time. Last night just confirmed it.
Nina tells her there will be other guys who will come along. Ald--gina says nevva, she'll only love one guy for the rest of her life.
However, I thought David's actions and reactions were spectacular. Kudos to the boy! My heart went out for David last night. Ald-gina was thinking mainly of herself, not David.
So, now we know Arturo does his own dirty work. How did he get the name of this creep to pay him off? You'd think the police would have been keeping this intel pretty secure. And, how did this guy come to be in the exact spot to watch Erick "throw" The Ratt over the balcony.
The streets were empty (as they usually are in tns when there is violence taking place). If he just happened to see Erick go in the building, that is still circumstantial evidence. I wish it had been pajama man. That would have been easier to understand.
I'm with you, Urban. Eladio probably just created this guy and paid him to come forward with this story. He may be hesitating with Arturo because he's already taken money from Eladio. But then he takes the money.
When Julia came back to see Humberto and tell him of the apartment move, I was sure Eladio's desperate pleading (read: charm in a moment of desperation) for her to at least spend the night if not come back and he would leave, was going to work. I know her feeling though, everything in that house reminds her of betrayal.
Humberto is so canny. He doesn't want to go with Julia at all. He wants to wait in luxury until she's shacked up with Arturo's money. He played the moribund old man perfectly.
Eladio is necio. He can't recognize Franco because he's still concerned about his reputation regarding an illegitimate son, regardless of the times. He's a powerful businessman. It would have implications for something like that to come out. What weighs more is that he had his wife raise him right under her nose.
If he thinks about it, though, as Urban said, everyone in the family he wanted to keep the secret from secret now knows, he could recognize Franco.
The implications though, involve money and not social position. His vast power and wealth are real. He realizes he screwed up with David and treated David like the illegitimate child. Still in the public eye, for him to favor Franco over David looks pretty bad. And then, how to divide the spoils....David could care less and Franco wants the whole ball of wax.
Eladio is going to be consumed with getting Julia back and won't be watching the back door for whatever Franco has in mind.
I haven't had a chance to watch the episode yet. I will watch it now and post a short recap in a couple of hours.
Catch you guys later.
Arturo's informant was decently groomed and respectably dressed; he could be a police insider. He could have been in the background of the police department scenes earlier on before the time jump. During the scene where Aldo was being questioned I was paying more attention to the fact that Callao was in the background on the other side of the desk and asking myself why none of the smart cops (like the one with the grey hair) wasn't wondering why he was the one escorting Aldo there. They knew he was Eladio's chauffeur.
Not recognizing Franco due to public appearances might have been valid in the previous version (and certainly earlier, per the discussion on EHdlS) but that's not an issue in 2016.
Eladio doesn't need to favor either son over the other with regard to any inheritance. He can put 20% of the company in David's name now and divide the remaining 60% in his will to give each equal shares and the rest to Julia. When he's gone they can all do whatever they want with it. Eladio's only fear in all this is that of losing Julia, but you can't dictate another person's feelings. He still hasn't learned that and he may not want to. After all, Humberto never did either.
You are also right about Humberto. He's not hedging any bets now, although based on the scene between him and Julia I don't think he's got a lot of time left.

I agree that the Regina David breakup doesn't make sense but that what the writers gave us, so all that we can do is go with the flow for now.
Question---When David was arguing with Julia over what had just transpired. There was a lot of yelling back and forth--denial? Then Davis showed Julia the love letter. My question is, Did Julia ask him how he got the letter or who gave it to him?
Lily---Regina just gives up every time.---Yes, she does tend to do that. I suspect that it is because of built in conditioning over years of loosing out (two against one)to two bruja's which for the most part were always against her. The only one with any power that would have been on her side, Daddy Arturo was always away at the office working. And so, after years of being overpowered and loosing, Regina probably developed the attitude of why fight, what's the use, I'm going to loose anyway.
The thing that really bothered me last night was that after the breakup with David,
Regina ran right back into the lions den-home-and told Nina everything. And yes of
course, junior bruja Dani was within listening range and heard everything. Regina has opened herself up for even more trouble now.
It felt good to finally be back last night. An Oscar for Susana Gonzalez last night
must see tv

This story is at its lowest point. We're witnessing all the deep hurt and cruel damage that emotional and physical adultery bring to so many people. It's not just the wife or husband who is wounded, it's the children. Selfishness and egocentrism at its worst.
On the other hand, Cynderella, you're the best. Gentle hugs to your mom, big ones to you.
Now she's getting this from the older generation although nothing about their relationships should have anything to do with hers. Would it be weird? Of course, but nothing that happens with the parents should be affecting the adult children at this point. Regina and David have lived on their own and now so does Miguel. It's only Erick and Daniela who are still immature enough to need to live with their parents.
SusanLynn, I somewhat agree with you. Aldonza had different issues and some were worse, but David is stronger than Cristobal. Or had been. We'll see.
Niecie, thank you - you hit the highlights of an episode immersed in dreck.
I was beside myself for poor Julia. David refused to let her explain and his hysterical tirade continued unabated. Once again, Regina rejects David...
Last night was simply too painful to watch. Arturo has managed to (further) decimate Julia's life in one fell swoop.
Lily, I also still like Clara, Consuelo and baby Erick. However, I've crossed Miguel off my list. I've always defended but he made me cringe when he wide-eyed stared at Julia, blocking her path from leaving the ravings of her "adored" son and girlfriend.
Julia, leave the lot of them. None of them deserve you.
Diana
I think that Regina is playing Aldonza as well, and the sad thing is that this novela has been so much more forward thinking with realistic plot lines, this storyline is a huge step backward. For those of us that love accomplished women, Regina is a dream character. I think the writers are manipulating the Regina/ David romance to add (unneeded) conflict and hook viewers. The breakup just doesn't compute, but, as Gringo says, we'll just have to go with it.
Regina and her mother have always been very close, it is natural for Regina to confess the compromising scene to her, especially since she had ridiculed Nina about her suspicions before.
I don't think anyone likes to see their parents breaking up, even after they're out of the parental home and on their own for years. What we have behind these mansion walls is a couple whose conflicts have been brewing for a long time and are finally exploding. Arturo has been a workaholic and Nina hid all the children's conflicts from him. We've all previously agreed this doesn't reflect what we want out of life today, but this 1940s-50s marriage model is still happening. It suited Nina for all these years because it allowed her to live the way she wanted to.
Nina has also recently become aware that she isn't the love of Arturo's life. Considering that they were in their 20s when they were married, that would probably be a shock. However, nothing happened for 25 years due to never having run into Julia and Eladio socially (not realistic, which we have said before). We have yet to know what she never told him about her own past.
It can also be incredibly phony and such things can happen during crises, of which there are others in this family.
I don't know how divorces of this kind are dealt with in Mexico, but in a US divorce trial there could be witnesses in a courtroom. No matter the outcome once it's over Nina would be done with Regina.
What a loyal good daughter you are. My prayers now include you and your mom. I wish you both the very best and I agree whole-heartedly with Susanlynn and Anita, you must take good care of yourself as well.
Carlos
I have no problem with Regina running to Nina about Arturo/Julia because she's been telling Nina there's NOTHING between Arturo & Julia, to come find out there IS something between Art/Julie because she saw a liplock with her own eyes. Her dad is dumping her mom for some unknown reason; now she knows the reason.
There needs to be a fresh new love interest for David. Perhaps an old school friend or new architect. David deserves better than Regina.
As to showing affection, I have seen through my students who come from many different cultures that public displays of affection vary. My Spanish speaking students often greet each other with a hug and a kiss. My mother's family was always big on hugging and kissing which seemed very odd to my hub when he first met my relatives and my aunts gave him big hugs.
Nina does not hate, despise or dislike Regina. She and Regina are very different and it's easier for Nina to relate to Erick and pretty Daniela than bookish Regina. That doesn't mean Nina doesn't love Regina. If Nina hates Regina by forcing Regina to marry Joshua then Arturo also hates Regina for trying to force Regina to stay way from David.
Many parents have a favorite child(ren) but it doesn't mean they don't love the other kids. You can also dislike your child but still love them*. The only child Nina hates is Miguel.
*The only parent that has "hated" their child is Eladio (David & Franco). Eladio tolerated David b/c he was Julia's child but that started to change once he found out that David really was his child. Eladio favored Franco over David b/c he knew Franco was his son but Eladio really doesn't like Franco as a person. Of the two, he respects David more and that was even before he found out David was his bio son.
Tofie, good word, "orbiter." This is why this guy is in the story. He's cute but not up to her level (education, not money or position). He might be meant for Consuelo or Clara in the long run.
Nina's now naked hatred of Miguel would have earned her a divorce long before this if she hadn't concealed it so well from Arturo for so long. She knew he needed a wife for himself and a mother for Miguel; any woman who marries a widower with a young child knows what she's getting into. She played the sex kitten with Arturo well enough that he didn't see the rest. But men are often foolish that way.
Enjoying Art's downward spiral does not indicate any support for Nina, the only interest is in her ability to take Arturo down. In a perfect world the only one standing when the Montenegro smoke cleared would be the maid.
Clara has been a good girl, Consuelo's only crime (overlooking breeding outside her species) is being dumber than a box of rocks.
The episode opens up with the pre-smooch conversation between Arturo and Julia. The front door is conveniently left open:
- Julia: “I love my hubby profoundly and finally, after so many years, I managed to have the romantic partner (pareja) and the family that I always wanted. It’s a disappointment (decepción) but it doesn’t mean that the love I have for him has changed.”
-Arturo: “Just a few months ago you were thinking differently.”
- Julia: “Yes, I was thinking differently. A few months ago I would have felt liberated to discover that he was cheating on me. But now I don’t. A while back, I would have run to your arms but now things have changed.”
- Arturo: “The only thing true here is that Eladio does not deserve you.”
- Julia: “Well, maybe, but I can’t stop loving him overnight (de un día para otro).”
- Arturo: “I don’t like to see you suffer. I find it difficult (me cuesta trabajo to believe that a love like ours could finish like this.”
- Julia:: “I’m really sorry.” And she holds his hands, just as Regina is getting to the door.
- Arturo: “Do you remember when you told me at the beach that you loved me, that you desired me, that you wanted to be with me forever”. (Such incriminating words within Regina’s earshot)
- Julia:: “Yes, yes, I remember.” (Oh no! You just killed any chance of plausible deniability here.)
- Arturo: “Now that you left Eladio and I’m getting a divorce, at long last we have an opportunity to be together. Think about it.” And just as he’s leaving, he pulls Julia towards him and plants a big wet one on her lips. A horrified Regina yells “Papá!” and both Julia and Arturo are mega impactados, eyes like saucers, as if someone caught them with their pants down and their hands in the cookie jar! (This is why you must always close the door.) “You’re going to swear to me once again that you are not leaving my mother for this lady?”, says Regina with much resentment. Both Arturo and Julia try to deny, deny, deny. “It’s not what you think”, says Julia. “I saw and heard it all very clearly”, replies Regina, “Why didn’t you tell me that Julia was the love of your life? Had I known it before, I would have never gotten close to David!”. “There is nothing between your dad and me”, interjects Julia. “Don’t lie! I just saw it! My mom was right, you were cheating on her with this lady!” Regina then accuses Julia of being an hypocrite for pretending (fingir) to support David and Regina’s relationship, she then turns to Arturo: “What a disappointment, Papá! I hope that my mother’s pain and my pain serve you to be very happy with this woman!” Regina storms off with a chorus of No’s trying but failing to retain her. Arturo apologizes to Julia and tries to calm her down but she demands that he explain to his daughter that there is nothing between them. He promises to say that and to lay all the blame at his own feet. He’d better do this and Regina had better believe him! This incident could affect Julia’s relationship with her son and if that happen she will never forgive him!
At GLA, Franco is battering a poor innocent keyboard when Caridad barges into his office uninvited and uninvitedly offering her motherly moral lessons. Did you fight with David? You shouldn’t fight with David!
“This was bound to happen after the truth was revealed (...) I want my Dad to give me what I’m entitled to (lo que me corresponde). Yes, he gave me life but he never treated me as a son and now instead of getting closer to me (acercarse a mí), he wants to set me aside (hacerme a un lado). But he’ll find out what it’s like to not have my support.” Caridad doesn’t want any more problems and doesn’t want to lie to anybody anymore. Just yesterday she had to lie to Gabi and pretend that Franco did not know that she (Caridad) was his mother. Franco puts his hand on Caridad’s shoulder and tells her that this is how things ought to be always. She must stand by him and support him unconditionally. She is his mother and he is now starting to feel something for her. He gives her a hug and asks her to always be there for him. She tells him about Eladio’s suggestion that she and Franco stay away from los Gómez Luna and lay low for a while until the storm subsides. Franco is not thrilled at the prospect, especially after the many years of suffering and humiliation the two of them had to endure. He paints Caridad this alternative picture where Eladio would’ve taken care of Caridad and Franco and would’ve made them his second family without any need for him to leave Julia. Had Eladio done that maybe Caridad would not have found herself alone, without resources and put in a situation where she had to kill in order to protect her cub. Caridad seems to be falling for his baloney so he keeps piling it on. He cajoles her into taking part in the Mommy-and-Sonny tandem: “You and me together. Let’s be a team. Let’s support one another in everything. You and me.” then he flashes her his sweetest smile and adds “Mama”. She is so moved she breaks down in tears. “This is the first time you call me ‘Mama’”. Franco keeps bamboozling the poor woman: “Life is giving me an opportunity. An opportunity that my parents can be together again. The way it should’ve always been”. (Petite Caridad with her beady eyes, her tiny frame and that lion mane that makes her look like a walking talking fuzzy lollipop is going to conquer Eladio over Julia? Over Amazonian Julia with her gorgeous bambi eyes, her enchanting smile and those flowing luscious locks? Caridad will achieve this after getting roughed up by 20 years of poverty, heartache and imprisonment? Yeah, I see it happening! Good luck with that!)
Regina goes crying to Miguel, who’s still living “temporarily” with Auggie, in the same building where David and Regina live. Miguel recounts the “Julia story” that his dad told him, including the part where, after becoming a widow, Arturo couldn’t rekindle his romance with Julia because she was married and expecting a baby David by then.
Eladio is testing his interrogation techniques on Gabi. He goes through the list of usual suspects that knew the truth about Franco and asks Gabi whether she revealed the truth to Julia in order to force Eladio to recognize Franco publicly as his son. She replies that her poor marido is the victim of this situation, Julia can’t keep avoiding him forever, David can’t call him a bastard and Eladio can’t turn his back on him now. Gabi wants things to get better and wants her family to get back together but Franco is her husband, she loves him and she will never turn her back on him (nunca le voy a dar la espalda). “I hope you NEVER turn your back on him!”, says Eladio, no doubt thinking about the small matter of Mouthbreather and the mini-Franco she carries in her tummy.
Julia is pacing nervously and leaving messages on David’s phone. David charges in like a bull. Julia starts explaining that there was a confusion, that Regina arrived to the apartment just as her dad was there, trying to kiss Julia and... David interrupts her:
- David: “And what? That you two are lovers, Mama? I was already suspecting it and, look, here is the damn proof! Here is the damn proof! (he shows her the note Franco gave him) Here Arturo Montenegro is writing very clearly that he wants to see you.”
- Julia: “No, No. Calm down. I can explain.”
- David: “There is nothing to explain. Of course, Mama. Now I understand. Now I perfectly understand that my dad was right. Don’t touch me! Don’t touch me! Now I realize that my dad was right. How could you get involved with a married man?”
- Julia: “No...”
- David: “No, how the hell could you get involved with the man who is my girlfriend’s father? How long have you two been seeing each other?”
Gabi is crying because she is conflicted between her loyalty to her husband and her loyalty to Julia who has been like her mother and David who has been a brother to her. Caridad is being a fake lying byotch and urges her to always support her husband because he is the man she chose to start a family with. Gabi wants her tía and her tío to reconcile. “Yeah, but if that doesn’t happen and Julia and David conspire to strip Franco of everything he worked so hard for, you ought to stand by your husband.” Caridad is adamant that she will always always stand by her son, no matter what. (OK, we get it Mama bear and this standing by your crazy cubby will surely be your perdition!).
Back to David’s major freak-out:
- Julia: “Son, all of this is a misunderstanding.”
- David: “A misunderstanding? Ah, and is it also a misunderstanding that the imbécil of Arturo would come here to look for you and to kiss you?”
- Julia: “Yes, yes.”
- David: “To kiss you!”
- Julia: “No! You are not letting me explain!”
- David: “Tell me.”
- Julia: “It’s that, Arturo arrived and... and...”
- David: “No, no... that is not what happened, Mama. The only thing that is true is that my dad and you are liars! You are liars! You are two of a kind! You are cut from the same cloth (tal para cual). I don’t understand anything. Really, I don’t understand anything and I’m breaking my head and still failing to understand (me rompo la cabeza sin entender). Why in hell did you two get married? Did you get married only to harm each other? To hurt each other? Still, I went to see my dad and I defended you. I told him the house was yours and that he had to give you part of his fortune. For God’s sake, Mama! He kept tabs on you (te tuvo checada) using a driver and bodyguards (guaruras). Of course! Now I understand why! Now I understand why!”
- Julia: “Stop! (No sigas)”
Julia is devastated. Regina and Miguel arrive at this precise moment. David pulls Regina towards him to hug away his pain and frustration. Miguel is standing there giving Julia the stink-eye.
Daniela tells Chimp Boy that she’s dating Ashmore and wants him to be the Godfather of little Erick. She also informs him that Auggie has initiated the divorce proceedings for their parents. Chimp Boy is surprised there is still talk of a divorce, especially since he saw his parents presenting a united front. Nope, Arturo still insists to get a divorce in spite of what happened to Erick. Dani thanks her idiot brother for backing her up in her choice of Ashmore as a godfather to his son. Chimp Boy says that he is the father of that kid and even if Consuelo doesn’t like his choices of godparents, she has to comply with (acatar) his decisions. (Chimp Boy woke up from his coma with a vengeance! It’s like he was saving up stupid to unleash on unsuspecting innocents!)
Back at David and Regina’s place, Julia tries to defend herself and tells the couple that time will show that things are not what they believe them to be. Regina retorts that time has demonstrated everything. “Go. Go. Please”, David has just kicked his mother out of his apartment (Harsh!). Miguel is blocking Julia’s exit and still giving her the stink-eye. He looks her up and down, rather disdainfully before getting out of her way.
Julia cries in the hallway just as Eladio and his snazzy navy suit waltz in. (Perfect timing old boy! She is desperate, crying and ripe for the picking). She tells him what happened but asks him not to intervene. She wants to go see that old venomous goat of a father she left at the GL mansion and Eladio offers to give her a ride.
Regina tells David that this is too much. She breaks away from his embrace and asks him to leave her alone. She needs to be alone.
At the hospital, Chimp Boy and his mommy are not happy that Auggie is visiting. After all, he is Miguel’s friend and Consuelo’s divorce attorney so he must be part of the “We-hope-Erick-croaks-during-his-coma” club. Auggie is not there to fight but to provide counsel (asesorar) because the police will be interrogating Erick again about Montserrat’s murder. Moreover, there is a hearing tomorrow and the witness who saw Erick fighting with Montserrat in the balcony, will also be there to testify. If he recognizes Erick, then the trial is lost and the Montenegro Idiot Child will have to stew his simian behind in jail! (Hopefully this time, he will know better than to discuss the price of his clothing with fellow cellmates).
Arturo goes looking for the witness in question, a certain Tapia. He tells Tapia that he won the lottery and that he can get enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his days. All Tapia has to do is “not recognize the man who killed Montserrat Moret” during tomorrow’s hearing. Arturo hands him 100,000 pesos and promises him a million if he keeps his end of the bargain. Tapia will never hear from Arturo again once he gets the million that Arturo promised him. (I hope Arturo doesn’t trick this guy like he did Ashmore and winds up giving him half the bribe initially agreed).
Clara is talking about how Erick’s imprisonment means easy divorce for Consuelo (he was too scrappy to die in his coma, so let’s cross our fingers for a life sentence in the Mexican Sing Sing!). No, no, even so (aun así), Consuelo doesn’t want Chimp Boy to land in jail.
Eladio is pleading with Julia to stay in the mansion. He’ll be the one to leave. He can’t let her go somewhere else when this is her house. Julia only wants to talk to her dad, she has visited some apartments and they’ll both be leaving the mansion tomorrow. She can’t stay in this house where everything reminds her Eladio. Eladio tests his snake charmer techniques on Julia: if she feels this way, it’s because she misses him. “My love, forgive me! Forgive me and let us begin again! I beg you!”. She seems almost hypnotized. (Damn this devil is tempting!)
RECAP PART 7
Regina has packed her bags and is leaving David. Clearly, because her saintly father’s deception of his entire family is David’s fault. The kiss her father stole from David’s mother is also David’s fault. Her father gaslighting Regina’s mother and denying that his desire to break up their marriage is due to his obsession Julia happens to be David’s fault as well. This makes perfect sense... in bizarro world! Regina is being such a flakey, shallow, feeble, unreliable, disloyal and selfish heifer! I can’t! Regina sees the “love of her life” crumble from the weight of so much deceit, disappointment, lies and heartache, but instead of standing by her man in his hour of need, she decides to bail. What about the promise they made each other to always fight for their love? He tried to be strong for the both of them but he can’t without her. Regina thinks that love is not always enough and it’s better for them to break up loving each other than stay together until they hate each other. He pleads with her some more but she is adamant to abandon him (Cow!) They tearfully proclaim their love for one another and say their goodbyes (What a waste!)
Back at the GL mansion, Julia is still under Eladio’s spell, they are dangerously close: “I beg you, Julia! Just tell me there is a minimal possibility that we can fix our relationship. Please!” Julia snaps back from her stupor and liberates herself from his embrace. She can’t believe in him again. Not only did he hurt her but David is also suffering because of what the two of them did. Eladio wishes he can turn back time (if I can turn back tiiiiiime) but it is impossible. The only thing he can offer them, the only thing he can offer her, is that he will dedicate his entire life to compensate her for this harm he caused. Julia doesn’t think they can fix things, not even with (bootcamp-style?) couple’s therapy. She knows that they both committed mistakes but the worst of all is that they hurt David. Eladio promises to talk with their son and hopefully, with time, when things calm down... No, Julia is not so hopeful. Eladio pleads with her some more to stay in the mansion. Humberto rolls into the room acting all sweet and fatherly. Julia tells him that she’s coming for him and his hovering accessories tomorrow to move from the grand luxurious mansion to a brand new tiny hole. Humberto wants Julia to stay in the mansion at least this night: it’s late and it’s dangerous for her to be alone in the scary streets. Eladio insists as well that Julia spend the night; she doesn’t have to worry about seeing him because he’ll lock himself in the guest bedroom. Julia does not want to stay in the room the couple shared. After Eladio leaves, Humberto starts complaining that his health is deteriorating and that his blood pressure is plummeting because of so many problems. Julia promises to take him for a medical check-up the next day.
Maybe she will be the last one standing of that generation. If in the end Eladio and Arturo turn out to be half-brothers as others have speculated, for them to kill each other in the finale would be a very operatic ending. However, I can't see this being good for the rebroadcast value of the series.
For Arturo to bribe a witness who might already have been bribed pales against Eladio's past sins.
Gabi and Franco are in bed. She is whinging that Eladio accused her of telling the truth to Julia when she had been diligent in keeping the lie going for many months. It’s not fair! Franco tells her that Eladio is not so much looking to find out who revealed the truth to Julia, he’s looking for who’s gonna pay for doing this to him. Franco suspects that Humberto was the snitch and he’ll tell Eladio this. Gabi tells Franco that she spoke to Caridad and he doesn’t like that because he considers her responsible of this difficult situation they are in and he doesn’t want Gabi to maintain regular contact with her. Besides, Julia can find out that Gabi and Caridad are getting chummy and she won’t like it. Gabi thinks that Caridad is a good woman despite of everything (if you only knew, you poor dummy!) Gabi thinks it’ll be nice for Franco to find out more about his early years from Caridad. Franco says that he appreciates Gabi’s love and support and that the reason he insists on achieving a status within the family is to be able to offer her the best in life.
Back at the GL mansion, Mr. Plague-On-Wheels silently zooms into Eladio’s bedroom and reports that he succeeded in making Julia worry about the state of his health. She will take him to the doctor tomorrow and if he is ordered to rest then Julia will have to stay in the mansion. Eladio is visibly repulsed: “This is how use your illness, isn’t it? To manipulate people (manejar a la gente) and to achieve what you want.” But Humberto only wants to help Eladio! “Just go!”, orders Eladio. Humberto leaves the room mumbling: “One only has good intentions and wants to help make life pleasant for everyone, but then, no, it’s not possible, therefore...” (Humberto is about the only thing entertaining in this episode!)
At the Montenegro mansion, Regina spills the beans to Nina about the adulterous kiss she saw. Nina’s heart (or heart facsimile, depending on where you stand on the Nina character) audibly breaks into a million pieces. “I always knew it. The heart of a woman in love is never wrong”. Regina announces that David also knows and that they broke up because of this. Nina is sorry to hear it: “Nothing would’ve pleased me more than to see you happy with the man you love”. “I have to forget him, Mama!”. Nina tries to console her: “Come on, you are young and beautiful. I’m sure that someone else will come along further down the line”. However, Regina swears that she will never love anybody else the way she loves David. Nina understands because, despite everything, she still loves Arturo with all her heart.
Arturo visits Miguel is his “temporary” abode. Miguel reproaches Arturo for all the preaching he gave Miguel and Consuelo about their relationship when he is not prepared to follow his own advice regarding Julia. “Don’t judge me! It’s not the same!” (Off course, not! You’re Arturo Montenegro! “Holier-than-thou, head-and-shoulders-above-everyone” Arturo Montenergro! ). “You could at least have waited until both of you were divorced to get close to Julia! What a disappointment, Papá!”. Arturo tries to justify himself, talking about circumstances but Miguel is not buying it and he predicts that his dad will be paying for his mistakes alone. Things are no going to work out, thinks Miguel and this makes him very afraid that it will all end very badly for his horny papá. “Do you now understand that it’s not so easy to give up (renunciar) love, Papá?”, are Miguel’s parting words. He leaves the apartment as Auggie comes in. We get the scene where Auggie tries to make Arturo see the light, take n° 2,6734,190. “Julia rejected you (sent you packing), no? te mandó a volar”. “Yes, given the way things happened. Still, her pain due to Eladio’s actions is recent, but in the end, she will decide to be with me. This is how it’s got to be.” (Delusion, thy name is Arturo Montenegro!) Auggie hopes all the trouble this kicks up will be worth it. Arturo thought he could face it all for Julia but admits that seeing the pain and disappointment in his daughter’s eyes and hearing what Miguel just told him made him realize how selfish he has been. Auggie tells him “I told you so!”. Arturo says he can’t control what he feels for Julia and is ready to confront whatever comes his way. Auggie says that they ought to put this Julia thing aside for now and concentrate on tomorrow’s hearing for Erick.
The next day at the GL mansion, Gabi and Franco bump into Julia. It’s awkward and she doesn’t want to talk to Franco. Franco hopes this could change someday. Eladio is eavesdropping and hatching a plan. (Either that or he’s admiring the ceiling’s cornices. I can’t tell for sure.)
David charges into the Montenegro mansion demanding to talk to Regina. Nina tells him that the relationship between her daughter and him is impossible. It’s unfair and difficult because the 3 of them (David, Regina and Nina) are the victims of Arturo and Julia’s affair, but that’s the way thing are. “My daughter came home emotionally destroyed and she told me that she saw your mother and my husband kissing. Answer me, do you think this could be forgiven?”
THE END
Prayers and positive thoughts for a speedy recovery for your mother and please take care of yourself too.
I had written a comment a few hours ago, but just realized that it didn't go through. Sometimes I hate technology.
Anyway, thanks for posting a discussion page. Greatly appreciated.

Nandicta- Wow, thanks! Great recap.
(OK, we get it Mama bear and this standing by your crazy cubby will surely be your perdition!).
(Chimp Boy woke up from his coma with a vengeance! It’s like he was saving up stupid to unleash on unsuspecting innocents!)
(Chimp Boy woke up from his coma with a vengeance! It’s like he was saving up stupid to unleash on unsuspecting innocents!)
(Hopefully this time, he will know better than to discuss the price of his clothing with fellow cellmates).
Now we know why they cast this actor.
Mauricio, I don't think he did it. He had no motive and I don't think he could have done it while dead drunk (which screws up his already questionable coordination). That he ran to PV doesn't look good but we all know that Erick is basically a coward. Someone speculated in the hospital scene that he might have thought he was dying and told Nina just in case, but I don't believe it. I think he was intimidated into this because he witnessed part of the crime.
Thanks for gifting us with this extraordinary spontaneous recap. I especially enjoy immensely your analysis:
"It’s like he was saving up stupid to unleash on unsuspecting innocents!"
"She is desperate, crying and ripe for the picking..."
"Either that or he’s admiring the ceiling’s cornices."
I was disappointed (though not quite disgusted) by David's rather immature over wrought meltdown. Stiff upper lip lad!
I've no doubt that Nina is loved by her children and loves them as well. I don't know what more evidence we need than the sincere emotional displays we have seen. I've also no doubt that she loves Arturo very much and now unfortunately the hurt his betrayal will cause will be devastating and perhaps even tragic.
Carlos
Wow! This must have taken you forever. THANK YOU! Great job! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I really hate that Regina broke up with david. david is so angry. He wouldn't give his mom
A chance to explain anything. Now everyone
Is just walking around mad at everybody else
Im really pissef at arty. What did he hope to
Accomplish by telling juls about franco. This was always a mess now it's an even bigger mess. it's kind of annoying to watch this. Maybe I'll back off for a few nights and come back when things have calmed down.
No ones tellin truth about anything. O and did
I mention, I can't stand franco?
Later yall.
"Julia cries in the hallway just as Eladio and his snazzy navy suit waltz in" and "(he was too scrappy to die in his coma, so let’s cross our fingers for a life sentence in the Mexican Sing Sing!)" were among my favorites.
Your conversation translations were exceptional and so contributed to the understanding of what transpired
Your divine “rant”: “Clearly, because her saintly father’s deception of his entire family is David’s fault” was clever and insightful.
Arturo has now caused as much devastation in one day as many villains have during the typical run of a TN. Where do they go from here?
Thank you so very much.
Diana
