Caray, Caray!

Thank you Cynderella.

Here's some stuff that I remember from last night:

PART 1

* Franco and Eladio both smell a rat and know that Arturo's dirty hand is involved somehow with Chimp (Erick) walking home a free man. Franco is put on the task on finding out what went down at the hearing. Franco wonders if Eladio would save his butt too if he were in the Chimp's shoes. Obvio (Eladio would do it without thinking). Eladio doesn't think he'll need to (save Franco's butt) though because Franco is brilliant thanks to him (unlike Erick). Then Franco whines about Eladio not loving him and just wanting him by his side because he wants to use him. If Eladio loved him then he'd acknowledge him. Boo hoo. With two fingers, Eladio shows Franco the door. (Take that, Franco!).

* Daniela tells Nina that Assmore can help her manage her shares. Nina says "Erick's helping me". Daniela says "Well, he's my bro and I love him, BUT Erick's made many mistakes (LOL) and it's nice having a second opinion". (In other words Daniela calls Erick an IDIOT, but a nice way) Nina knows that Daniela defends Assmore so much because of the (dirty) relationship that Daniela and Assmore have. Nina doesn't agree with Daniela and Assmore as an item and tells her to be careful because Assmore isn't decent. She tells Daniela how Assmore tried to play both Eladio and Arturo. Daniela thinks that Assmore is just smart in business. Besides, she's not going to do business with him (obvio, she's doing something else!).

* Arturo takes it upon himself to ask Assmore to be the godfather of his first grandchild. Assmore is honored and accepts obvio. They share a manly embrace. (Gag!)

* Consuelo asks Miguel to stay away. Erick wants to take Little Erick away from me!!

* The Montenegro family sits down for some din din. Arturo takes a bite of the SPICY enchiladas and is pissed. He has an open ulcer for goodness sake!! He calls up Petra and scolds her. Nina says that she asked Petra to make the enchiladas that way because Chimp likes them like that. Daniela brings up Julia. In the end, Arturo leaves the table in a huff, after telling Nina that he's off to New York to speed up the divorce.

* David tells Jorge to stay the hell away from Regina. He shows him a photo of him (David) and Regina and tells Jorge "You see this photo, well me and Reggie will be together again like we are here". Jorge says he'll be there as a friend for Regina until she decides otherwise. David's not stupid, he knows Jorge wants Regina. He tells Jorge that he (Jorge) will just be wasting his time with Regina. Well, Jorge is willing to risk that.
 

PART 2

* Eladio sends a rose and note to Julia. He only sends one rose because Julia taught him that he has to win her over with small gifts. Blah, blah, blah. (I think Eladio is just cheap!). She calls him up and tells him to quit sending gifts. She'll never ever forgive him.

* It's Hummy's birthday (and hopefully his last one!). Julia sings him Las Mañanitas. Simona comes in and tells Julia that some flowers have arrived. Hummy and Julia head downstairs and find a whole bunch of roses with a note. They are from Arturo. Julia rips the note up. Eladio comes over to wish Hummy a Happy Birthday and brings him a gift. It's a watch. Hummy can't accept it. He tells Eladio that Arturo sent Julia flowers. Hummy leaves to take a call from David who obviously has called him up to say Happy Birthday. (I guess since it's his birthday, they all have to be nice to the old man) Anyway, Eladio insists on getting Julia back again and she rejects him yet again. This time Eladio even is willing to get on his knees to get her back but she doesn't let him humiliate himself. Hummy returns. He tells Eladio that he should give Julia a DIVORCE. Julia tells Hummy that, that's something that she and Eladio will discuss later. She asks Eladio to leave. Eladio leaves. Julia the n scolds the old man for the things he told Eladio. The old rat bastard says that he just wanted Eladio to know that Julia has someone to defend her.

* Regina tells Jorge that Erick is a free Chimp. Jorge is glad to hear it and tells Regina to tell Erick that he says "Hey!". David overhears. David is happy with the news about Chimp being a free man. He gets sensitive with her telling Jorge the news about Erick instead of him. Then reminds Regina that if the two of them are apart it's because of her decision.
 

PART 3

* Consuelo wants to have her son's baptism at the church were she had her First Communion. But Nina (the mother in law and grandmother from hell) has already planned the whole baptism. They'll have it at the house. They can't have it anywhere else because of TMZ. Also earlier, Nina had gone over to pick up the baby so Fanny can meet him and so Erick can be with his son, but Consuelo doesn't let the baby out (claiming that the doctor said that it was too cold for the baby to he out and about). Nina and Erick were pissed. Erick wants to take the baby from her.

* Eladio visits Arturo. He reminds Arturo that Julia his MUJER and will be HIS MUJER as long as he breathes. Arturo tells him to get used to him (Arturo) and Julia becoming a item. Julia just has to lose her fear and accept that she loves him. Eladio advises Arturo to get his family back. Arturo lets him know how he's off to speed things up with the divorce so he can be a free man.

* Hummy calls up Eladio and lets him know that he only put on act when he acted like a bastard towards him over at the GLA mansion. Of course he'll accept Eladio's gift when he sees him again. He told him about Arturo sending the flowers so he could know about that.

* Erick is so grateful after what Arturo did for him (getting him off the hook on The Ratt's extermination). They talk about the situation with Nina and Erick wants to be on Team Dad. Arturo tells him that he'll be of help if he just doesn't get involved. They get to talking about Miguel and how Erick doesn't want him near his son. Arturo warns Erick not to do anything stupid because he won't be saving his butt a second time.

* Julia had told Eladio that she doesn't want to sell the GLA homes anymore. She informs her boss and says if she gets fired for this then fine. Boss doesn't fire her. He likes her work. He hopes that she and Eladio are able to fix things.

* Caridad stops by the foundation to say bye to the kids. Gaby's not sure if that's a good idea. Julia arrives and shows "class" by yelling at Caridad and kicking her and making Caridad cry. Caridad leaves and Gaby's not too happy with how Julia treated the mother of her husband even though she gets why Julia reacted how she did. Julia says that she'll try and control her anger when she sees Caridad but she can't make promises.

* Marintia gives birth before she's due. The baby is delicate and in an incubator. Marintia lets Caridad know about the baby and she tells Franco that his child has been born. Franco tells Caridad that "what has to happen will happen" regarding his child's health. He later tells Eladio about the baby being born and how it'd be best for everyone if the baby dies. (DIE FRANCO DIE) Later, Caridad and Eladio talk about the baby, and Caridad says that Marintia needs money to pay the hospital bill. Eladio is pissed that Marintia is already using her baby to get money out of him. He says that for Marintia's own good she better not start with the blackmail.

* Daniela runs into Julia at the nail salon. She shouts that Julia is her dad's mistress and ZORRA.
 

One more thing: Franco was snooping in Eladio's office looking for something. He found it and hides it as soon as Eladio comes into the office. He pretends to be on the phone so Eladio doesn't suspect anything. He then tells Eladio how the witness in Erick's hearing backed down. Franco is put on the task on finding out who that witness is.

*** I meant to say: that Julia kicked Caridad out of the foundation. She DIDN'T actually kick her. Although, she probably wanted to. Sorry about that. (I wish we could edit our comments).

I smiled at the the smirky glances Erick and Dani shared as Arturo savored the special enchilada. Cute kids.

Thanks, Mauricio. Terrific storytelling. I enjoyed your recap more than the episode because, besides Marintia giving birth, everything else seemed to be put on hold. More yelling and more lying.

Dani has some nerve taking on Julia. Dani, stay out of grown folks' business.

Poor Gaby. After standing up for her mother-in-law, she will feel like a fool when/if Franco Jr. is outed.

Hummy is a hoot calling up Eladio so he can still receive his birthday gift after he dissed him in from of Julia.

Carlos, I'm already on record admiring some of Erick's duds. I liked him (I mean his look, not him) in his island white linen way back, and I liked that jacket (suede?) last night. While nobody rocks white pants like Damian, I'm will go back and take another look at Erick.

Niecie...ah..those white pants. I have a pile of grammar tests to correct, so I cannot be distracted ...and those pants wee always distracting. I do not usually notice Icky Erick's clothes because....well, because they are attached to Erick.
 

Does Dani spend all her free time at that nail salon? I recall Dani and Nini tagteaming Julia at that same salon in the early days of the show. Maybe Julia should just do her own nails at home..like I do. I celebrate spring by painting my toenails my signature color..electric blue. Is it spring yet?
 

Oh my...started to watch this and JUST. DID. NOT. HAVE. THE. PATIENCE. Julia is annoying the H out of me right now. Just sick of her righteous indignation and Star of my own Drama bit. I get her desire to claim Victim Status but there are a whole lot of other folks with an equal claim to the Victim Role. And camping out there is never attractive.

Cynderella, I hope your mom is improving, and hope too that you are now sleeping in your own bed, rather than a cot at the hospital. But whatever the case, admire your love and devotion. We should all be blessed with such loving children.

Niece, I would agree. No one could possibly rock tight white pants like our beloved Wm Levy. And Susanlynn, thanks for noting the main problem for the current white pants is they are attached to Erick. There's a hefty disqualifier right there!

Thank you for the outstanding recap - "It's Hummy's birthday (and hopefully his last one!" was my favorite line of many.

Humberto was practically salivating for that gift, wasn't he? His furtive glances left no doubt he wanted to rip it right out of Eladio's hand! I hope Eladio changes his mind and doesn't give it to him.

For a slight second, I thought Franco seemed pensive about his child being born. That was certainly off, wasn't it?

I do feel Gaby is in a no win situation with Caridad. And of course she is being played for a fool by her worthless husband.

Arturo selecting Assmore for the godfather? One poor decision after the next.

You had some great lines, Mauricio. My faves:

Arturo made the huge mistake of trusting Erick; this is going to backfire on him.

Cyn, hope all is well with your family.

Wasn't Franco supposed to go to Argentina to deal with Marintia? What does he expect to do now? Try to pay her off to not come back? It should be obvious to him that Caridad won't let that happen. Eladio doesn't seem worried enough. Once this hits the fan, and again he knows about it, he will have lost all again.

Eladio obviously doesn't know how stupid Franco is. I'm sure Franco trying to kill Erick will come back on him at some point. Has Erick reviewed the video to see if he recognizes the person cutting the brakes?

ITA that Julia's martyr act is getting old. Pack your things, move out of the house, out of the city and start again.

Caridad and Franco are both playing Gaby for a fool.
 

Erick didn't see the video. That is too important a point to leave out.

Franco is in deeper sh** than he knows. He should take his 20% and run.

Mauricio--It was a perfect recap. I also liked "It's Hummy's birthday (and hopefully his last one!)." Knowing already he coveted that watch before I read your recap, made it somehow funnier.

Erick--You may wear tight white pants, but NO ONE will write poems about you.

David--You inherited your best qualities of caring and sensitive being from your mother. Take care, last night you began to sound like your dad--all possessive and obsessed with getting Regina back no matter the cost (yeah, yeah, I know, she loves him and she's terca and necia).

Eladio--Stand firm if your decision is not to help Marintia. Let Franco handle this, he's got money now. Don't go all mushy on us just because this is your first grandchild--the way Arturo is doing.

Ay, Arturo--You are going from bad to worse. Nina is going to play you like a violin (I hope).

 

UA--Don't quote me, but I thought Marintia or Caridad said it was a girl. Too bad, girls aren't worth anything to a crazed macho father or grandfather.

Steve--Still preferring permanent solutions, eh? But you may have a point. It would certainly be cheaper and better for his status with Gaby if Marintia and the baby don't make it--at least back to Mexico. He'll save himself a pile of money in child support. I hope he can make it clear to Marintia that she's coming back to NOTHING, if she comes. Her family is in Argentina, she should stay there--OR ELSE. Caridad is the fly in the ointment here.

As for Dani's drug use problem--Regina has been away from home long enough not to know what's going on in Dani's life. I don't think she's going to expose it. I think Dani and Assmore will take care of that themselves. So far, she's been pretty circumspect about her usage. She hasn't been featured in any newspaper gossip lately.
 

I think the person whom I feel saddest for is Hummy. To be that old and still be so incredibly meanspirted , greedy ,and unloving. How tragic. Nobody will weep for you when you have gone so enjoy that gift .
 

I just have to say again that most of these folks are terrible decision makers and their own worst enemies.

I am not impressed with Erick's pants, and his new hairdo makes me think of G I Joe.
 

Hehe Diana, noops is my answer about Eric rocking white jeans. I dldn't notice the first time and I surely will not rewind or do anything to see ugh Eric more than once. Ha!

Yes, I think I noticed Franco had conflicted moment when he learned his bebe is in peril. Maybe he identfies with him since both were unwanted. I also noticed that he doesn't miss any opportunity to pressure Eladio about giving him his name. Once he gets his name, just you wait and see that he will start another campaign to get something else, more! He will not rest until he has it all. His persistence, cunning and relentlessness will get him everything he wants.

Also about Eladio's philosophy about "truth unfolding and exposing astuteness" is really funny coming from him. Sounds more intriging in spanish, but I didn't go back to Nandicta's wonderful translation because I am at doc's and I think they gonna call my name.

To echo some of my Patio Pals here, Julia is grating on my nervios! She should really get over herself and take it easy with the woe-is-me, pity-me-I'm-the-victim-here baloney. She wants Eladio but doesn't want him, she won't give him a chance to atone for his mistakes and compensate her for what he did but she won't divorce him either. She wants nothing to do with him but doesn't want anyone else near him either! She denied the man love, affection and sex for 20-odd years but how dare he seek those things with someone else? How dare he sleep with another woman while being married to wonderful incomparable classy exquisite Julia? The crumbs of attention she would deign to throw Eladio's way once every blue moon should've been enough! Gosh darnit, she is not mad about the lie (which is the biggest mistake here in my opinion), she is mad about the affair Eladio had with Caridad over 2 decades ago! And how about the way Julia chased Caridad out of the Foundation (the foundation Julia wants nothing to do with FYI, because monstrous Eladio supports it financially)? Talk about déclassé!

Julia is an example of the dog in the manger or "the Gardner's dog" in Spanish El perro del hortolano, que ni come ni deja comer, the dog doesn't eat the produce but won't let anybody else eat it either. Another one of my favorite expressions in Latin American Spanish applies to Julia and "her dog in the manger syndrome": "Ni picha, ni cacha, ni deja batear", literally means: "she won't pitch nor catch nor let (anyone else) bat!"

This show is full of characters who are their own worst ennemies but the protagonist couple (ProTONTA Julia and ProTONTO Arturo) take the cake! Personally I'm liking Nina and Eladio way better, with their flaws, insecurities and all. Thank goodness for Humberto and Chimp Boy lightening the heavy mood! :D

Thank you Mauricio for filling in. You made me laugh when I read that Nina tells Daniela that Ashmore isn't decent.

Both mother and daughter were in their indecent witch made last night. Mother witch making Consuelo's life a living hell and daughter witch Daniela going off like an erupting volcano at the beauty salon. Two witches that never fail to please. They should adopt Ashmore as one of their own. Throw in Erick and they could have a party.

I don't know how Regina was able to live there as long as she did. I'm glad that she's out of there.

Hummy's birthday--his last? Let's hope.

It would have been great if Julia would have had Arturo's roses redelivered to the Montenegro residence with the note still in it.

Steve you may be right about Marinita and the baby not making it. It might not happen but there may be an attempt.

I wonder what the paper was that Franco stole from Eladio's desk. I'm staying tuned to find out.

No idea what the paper from the desk was. One of the good things about this series is that these things get revealed fairly soon.

Anita, you make a good point. Humberto did not value his daughters except as commodities. What if David had been a girl? Did the writers think this story worked better with 1950s attitudes or were they just lazy?

Because some friends from Mexico revealed a couple of spoilers to me today (accidentally on purpose?), I'm going to start watching ahead, then once I hit Episode 101, I'll stop and wait for you guys to catch up. Therefore, I'll be sitting the next 10 recaps out and I'll refrain from commenting for the next 2 weeks to avoid letting some crucial detail slip ahead of time.

Nandicta, I've policed myself in the past by waiting for a recap to be posted before saying anything. I also discovered that there are false spoilers out there at times; there was one in the search list on MIVAC.

Craaaaaazy!!! Julia should stop being the martyr if that's what she's being. I would like for her......I don't know,do a press conference put it all out there and let people know that there is no affair with arturo Montenegro( put him in his place). cuz he's walking around there like the King peacock messing up both the families worse than they already are (with their help of course). I've never seen people tell so many lies and the people that are supposed to be honest Is helpin them cover up the lies. that's why I quit watching for a while because it just got to be too much and nobody was getting anything done. but I'm back every now and then but I know it will get messy again. Franco and the baby he's going to do to his child what his daddy did to him. Or worst. Poor baby. Poor anybody that is unfortunate enough to be born into either one of these families. There is nothing sexy about Eric in any color pair of jeans his heart is evil that makes him ugly no matter what he wears.

-- Gringo: You're a sweetheart! I'm gonna miss hanging out in the Patio with all my pals and I'm really ticked off at my friends for the spoilers but I'll tell you guys about it once my self-imposed embargo is over.

-- Nina: The lies abound and are getting more and more nauseating but I'm attracted to this show like a moth to a flame! And I'm so emotionally involved with these messed up characters, it is ridonculous! I watched bits and pieces of the new TNs coming up soon on Univision and trust me, we are going to miss PyP BIG TIME once it's over! Mediocrity is heading our way, slowly but surely, with the upcoming TN line-up.
As for Chimp Boy's sex-appeal, if you search "Alejandro Nones" in Google Image, you'll be in for a surprise! Some of his modelling photos are really hot! I was shocked and confused myself! I came to the conclusion that, as long as he stands completely still and keeps his mouth shut, Chimp Boy can magically turn into tasty eye candy. :)

I was meaning to share a funny quote by Petra yesterday but I forgot. I'll post it below. Bueno, amigos, nos vemos. Cuídense mucho.
