Pasión y poder, Episode 93, Thursday, February 25, 2016: Got milk?

Only the lowlifes are smiling these days.  Things are going well for Chimp Boy and Franco.  Humberto is enjoying himself too, though we didn't get to chuckle with him tonight.  Jorge has been looking cockier lately.  (Okay, Clara and Justino – the only unambiguously good guys in the story – are happily in love. Do we care?  Seriously?)  But everyone else is wallowing in the Slough of Despond.  So let's take a look at each sad story tonight, not scene by choppy scene, but character by sappy character:

On the home front, Arturo finds himself confronted with a powerful female triumvirate.  Regina, blaming her father for her breakup with David, has now allied herself with Nina and Daniela (who, by the way, are looking a little better these days in their almost, but not quite mother-daughter dresses).  Regina wants to leave Grupo Montenegro, but Nina convinces her to stay and keep an eye on Arturo from the inside.

Arturo refuses Nina's demand that he turn the house over to her and her children: his grandfather built it, passed it on to his father, who passed it on to him.  The house means something to him, damn it!  He will give Nina another house – more expensive and luxurious than this one – but the mansion belongs to him, though his children are welcome to live there with him.  And he tells his daughters to butt out – this is between him and Nina.

In synchronized hostility, the women cross their arms over their chests and stare him down.  The three compare his caddish behavior to Eladio's gentlemanly treatment of them.  (Dani really rubs it in when she repeats what she told Eladio: Que Ojalá que fueras como él / That I wished you were like him!).  Arturo has let them all down.  In the battle for the house, Nina resolves to fight Arturo to the death.  He accepts the challenge.

Julia has been telling us for several episodes that it is Eladio whom she loves and that her love for Arturo is a thing of the past.  But we see that she is starting to waffle now.  She is so confused.

She continues to reject Eladio's efforts to win her forgiveness.  When he visits the mansion to tell her that David is back in Mexico, she thanks him but tells him rather coolly to use the phone next time.  She doesn't see how vulnerable he looks when he admits he just wanted to see her, even if only for a moment.

She calls on David and tries to persuade him that The Kiss was unilateral, that Arturo forced himself on her.  David doesn't believe her.  He breaks her heart with his angry reproaches.  And he blames her for his own heartbreak – the loss of Regina, the Love of His Life.

Eladio sees Julia crying in the hallway outside David's apartment.  She allows him to comfort her but bristles when he asks her to swear that The Kiss meant nothing and that she will not go back to Arturo.  He doesn't get to make those demands on her, she tells him.  And she hurries away with a brisk clatter of heels down the hallway.

When Julia tries to see Regina at Grupo Montenegro so she can explain how things really stand, Regina scorns her attempts to make peace.  In fact, she orders her to leave and never return.  Arturo comes out of his office now and takes Julia aside so they can talk.

(Unfortunately Angeles the Spy takes the opportunity to report to Franco that Julia is at Grupo Montenegro and has just had an argument with Regina.  "She's with Arturo Montenegro?" asks Franco happily, scarcely believing his luck.  Meanwhile Clara espies the Spy, though Angeles says she is only waiting for the chance to get back to her desk.  Clara looks skeptical.)

Julia demands that Arturo make his daughter understand that there is nothing between them.  Her only concern, she says, is for David and Regina.

Arturo doesn't believe her.  He reminds her that, years ago, he and Eladio made the same mistake.  They were both unfaithful to Julia and they both got another woman pregnant. The difference is that he, Arturo, came clean about it and faced the consequences, while Eladio kept silent and spent a lifetime deceiving her.  (The Patio will recall that Julia made the identical point to her psychiatrist.  Arturo has clearly hit a nerve here.)  Now, once again, he accepts full responsibility for what happened.  But life has given them another chance.  If Julia is feeling "confused," it's because she is fighting against her true feelings.  He is prepared to wait for her to accept what she feels.  She doesn't have to think about it, she only has to feel it.  He leans in and steals a quick kiss.  Julia hurries away.

Eladio knows how much David's rejection is hurting Julia.  He calls on his son in an attempt to soften the younger man's attitude.  But he is also anxious to learn the truth about The Kiss.  David, obviously uncomfortable with the subject, says he's not the one who saw Julia and Arturo – it was Regina.

Later, when Eladio is back in his office flicking his (gold) Bic, Lic. Rueda tells him that he's handling Erick Montenegro's divorce.  But the news that really interests Eladio is that Arturo is sheltering his property through a front man (un prestanombres) so Nina won't be able to get at it in a divorce.  Rueda is investigating the identity of this mysterious prestanombres.  As soon as he knows, Eladio will know too.

Later, David turns down Eladio's offer of a penthouse (he doesn't want to be Franco's neighbor); nor is he interested in Eladio's offer to put more company shares in his name.  (Though at first, David misunderstands, thinking his father is trying to pull an Arturo and keep Julia from getting at his property in a divorce settlement.) Eladio is unsurprised.  He knows David has never been materialistic. David believes there are other kinds of riches.  For him, it is love that matters.  David will always have love, Eladio says.  David desires the same for his father.  Father and son have this in common – each one longs to be with his One True Love, Eladio with Julia and David with Regina.

Nina learns a couple of new things from her daughters.   From Daniela, she discovers that Eladio and Julia are living apart.   Unlike Arturo, Eladio has moved out of the Gómez Luna mansion, leaving the house to Julia. Nina jumps to the conclusion that Arturo wants her house so he can bring that shameless Julia to live there.

From Regina, Nina learns that Franco is actually Eladio's son by another woman.

Erick, who is quite full of himself these days, surprises his father with the announcement that Lic. Rueda will be handling his divorce with Consuelo.  After all, Agustín is living with the enemy, that is to say, Miguel.  (For once, The Patio can't blame the Chimp.  How can Agustín represent both parties in a contested divorce?  Oh well.)

Erick pretends he is on his father's side in his dispute with Nina, though of course he can't say that in front of his mother.  He promises to tell his sisters to support Arturo too.  He generously offers to manage the company shares that Arturo must be planning to sign over to the girls when the divorce goes through.  (Is Chimp Boy confusing two D words, Death and Divorce?)  He so wants to help.  Arturo looks faintly amused.  He will tell Erick his plans later.  (No matter how much slack they are willing to cut him, no one – not even Daniela the space cadet – is willing to trust Erick to manage their money.)

Miguel keeps his word to stay away from Consuelo, but keeps their romance alive with phone calls and shared baby photos.  In fact, he and Consuelo are more in love than ever.  Also, he is wearing really flattering glasses now.

Clara visits Caridad in the vecindad.  Caridad brings her up to speed on the Mouth Breather’s situation.  Both women know that when the truth comes out, Franco will have to choose between Gaby and Marintia.  Clara feels terrible about Gaby.  She warns Caridad that even if Franco is her son, she can't go around covering for him. (No puedes andar de alcahueta.  You can't act as his accomplice.)

Caridad deflects attention from her bad behavior by her pious insistence that the only thing that matters now is her grandson's survival.  Clara agrees.  When Caridad praises her generosity, Clara says God has rewarded her by giving her great happiness with Justino.

Justino tells David he has found happiness with Clara, whom Luisita also adores.  The virtuous Clara will be a fine example for the little girl.  David gets wistful about parents one idolizes and who later fall from grace.  Sigh.

Justino refuses payment for fixing the boiler in David's apartment.  It's nothing compared to all that David has done for him.  Later, when he returns with the parts for the boiler, David asks him to review a budget for parts for the Santa Fe project.  The total seems a little excessive, but he'd like Justino's opinion.  (Oho!  This suggests someone is lining his pockets!  Is it too much to hope that it is Jorge Pérez?  Or perhaps Franco?)

Jorge Pérez continues to annoy The Patio with his dogged pursuit of Regina even though she has clearly told him she will never see him as anything but a friend.  First he sends her a turtle.  (A turtle!)  Then he shows up at Grupo Montenegro during Julia's visit.

He meets with Arturo.  The two end up shaking hands on a deal.  Arturo is always glad to have a contractor he can trust (which sets off all kinds of alarms – the smart money on The Patio says Jorge Pérez is going to turn out to be some kind of crook!  Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.)

He meets with Regina, ostensibly to talk business, and remarks that she seems upset.  (Like it would take an emotional genius to notice the Princess of Pout is wearing her Pepto-Bismol face.)  She tells him that woman in the hallway was her father's lover... and David's mother.

Regina continues to annoy The Patio with her decision to give up The Love of Her Life, i.e. David, for the sake of solidarity with her Machiavellian mother.  Furthermore, The Patio is annoyed by her failure to deal decisively with Jorge, thus, in effect, leading him on.

Regina is upfront with Arturo about her reasons for sticking around – she is looking after her mother's interests.  She completely rejects Arturo's (lame) attempts to explain his feelings for Julia and his hollow declaration that he will never stop loving his children.  She points out that Nina's fixation on keeping the house is just her way of expressing her pain at the loss of his love after 25 years of marriage.

Arturo feels he is blameless.  He treated Nina like a queen for all those years.  But now it's over.  Next!

Regina storms out angrily.

Franco, like his counterpart Erick, is really feeling his oats.   He is determined to undermine Eladio and take what he feels is rightfully his: EVERYTHING.  He tries to manipulate everyone around him.

Tonight he promises Caridad – insincerely, of course – that he will set aside his resentment towards Eladio and will try to get closer to him.  He advises Caridad to do the same.  After all, with Julia out of the picture, why not take advantage of the opportunity?  He sidles up to her, almost like a lover.  She touches her face and hair coquettishly.  He tells her she is still quite pretty.  It's her turn now to be Mrs. Gómez Luna...

Caridad is putty in Franco's hands.   She has conspired with him to keep Gaby from knowing the truth about the Mouth Breather and her offspring.  She seems to dismiss Franco's suggestion that she pursue Eladio, but it's clear that the idea has its appeal.  After all, Donde hubo fuego, cenizas quedan.

Agustín stops by Consuelo's apartment to deliver the news that Erick has fired him and gotten a new hotshot lawyer, Hector Rueda, to represent him in the divorce.  Just then, a registered letter is delivered to the door.  It is a formal demand for divorce with parental rights over the child (patria potestad).  Agustín explains that if Erick prevails, not only would the child live with his father, but Consuelo would be unable to see him.

Consuelo, we now discover, is nursing her baby.  (Have we ever seen her do so?)  It turns out that Erick and his lawyers can't touch the kid as long as she continues.  But once the child is weaned, Erick will be free to make his move.  Consuelo begs Agustín to do something.  He promises he will figure out how to protect her.

When Clara stops by the apartment a little later, we hear the baby wailing.  Consuelo is distraught.  Her milk has dried up!  But if she stops nursing, Erick will take away her child!

-------------------------------------

Elsewhere in the city, Rueda is telling Erick to be patient – they can't take the baby from Consuelo while she's nursing him.  "Can't we do something to speed things up?" asks Chimp Boy pettishly.  Rueda explains that they could only intervene if the child were in danger with his mother.  And since that's not the case, they'll have to wait.  Erick gets a dangerous gleam in his eye...

And Franco, upon receiving Angeles' call, sucker-punches Eladio with this breathless announcement: His contacts at Grupo Montenegro have informed him that Julia is in Arturo's office!

Eladio is gobsmacked.  ¿Qué dices?

Good evening everyone! Please chime in with additions or corrections. And forgive me for being so quiet lately. I'll try to do better.

Welcome back, NovelaMaven. Thank you for a terrific recap. Haha, I loved the title.

Wow, the three Montnegro women sure ganged up on Arturo. If he hadn't hit so many lows, I'd feel bad for him. But I don't.

Jorge sending Regina a turtle?! A puppy would have been better. But then again, the poor puppy having to live with those people.

Ah, thanks for pointing out that budget check of the parts meant something. I didn't realize that.

And yes, the only happy couple is the one we don't care about. What is the point of them? Bring back Francisco!

* but then again the poor puppy would have to live with those people.

Thanks, Mauricio!

I could be wrong about the budget check. Could be a red herring. Could be a way to get Justino moving up the ladder. Who knows? I'm just trying to get Jorge Pérez off my screen without wasting precious nerfazos that I'll need later for Erick, Franco and Humberto. :)

Thank you, NovelaMaven.

Jorge is really trying to rack up those points with Regina, isn't he? About the turtle - he had mentioned to Regina when they were reminiscing about growing up together that he had consoled her when her pet turtle died when she was little. He figured he's not making any headway with her through normal channels, why not try the - "Awwww, he remembered! He's so sweet, maybe I oughta give him a chance" - action. He's really sneaky. Of course, if we liked him we would say, "Oh, he's so thoughtful!"

When I saw that scene, I thought perhaps Justino would end up getting Francisco's old job.

I forgot to mention that I loved that Clara seemed skeptical about Angeles. I'm hoping she discovers that Angeles is the mole.

Thanks Anon. I suppose the turtle is a better gift then the bolt David gave her. I still can't get over that. LOL

Anon, thanks for filling in that detail about the turtle. I don't even remember forgetting it!

"Of course, if we liked him we would say, "Oh, he's so thoughtful!""
Hahaha. So true.

Oh Mauricio, I liked Clara in that scene too. I'd care more about exposing Angeles if I liked anyone at Grupo Montenegro even a little.

Thank You so much Novela Maven, I like your "documentary" style tonight.

So Consuelo's milk is dried up? Maybe her body is simply rerouting resources trying to escape from those two sizes too small jeans. Wow she does have a nice... um.. figure. But were those jeans or body paint? Not complaining.

You're welcome, Kirbo. Glad you enjoyed it.

I don't know who is most stupid, Regina for leading Jorge on, or him for falling for it. Can't wait for her to tell him how tasty the turtle was when she gets back with David A G A I N.

I only dip a toe in the waters of this TN every once in a while, but your Slough of Despond phrase pulled me into the recap. This was a great and very entertaining summary.

Two favorites:
"No matter how much slack they are willing to cut him, no one – not even Daniela the space cadet – is willing to trust Erick to manage their money."

This plus the title, of course! "Consuelo is distraught. Her milk has dried up! But if she stops nursing, Erick will take away her child!" Can your milk dry up this suddenly? My recollection is otherwise, but that was a long time ago.

How nice to see you around here, La Paloma. I'm so glad you enjoyed the recap.

"Dried up" is probably a little strong. Certainly, your milk can fail to "let down" when you're under stress, and that's probably what's happening to Consuelo. Unfortunately, if doesn't take too long for the delicate balance to between supply and demand to be upset and for your milk to truly "dry up."

Good morning, all. Such a treat to wake up to a Novelmaven recap. Thank you ! I, too, loved the title....but not the turtle. What?

UMMM , Are we supposed to believe that Connie was nursing that baby dressed to the nines and wearing high heels and huge necklaces? Hmmm...Usually , nursing mothers opt for the most comfy, easy access outfit that can find...maybe even wearing jammies all day at home because you are doing it about ever three hours.

A turtle...really, Jorge ? We are all smelling the desperation. Also, I do not like the constant glower on his pretty face. David seems to have a pleasant nature. I agree that Reg is being stupid pushing that guy away. I bet that he is a fun date.

Yes, I think that losing your milk is a temporary thing as along as a mother is eating and drinking well. A shock can cause a temporary problem. I lost mine when we came home from an overnight trip to find that we had been burglarized when my first daughter was two months old. Some old wives told me a tale ..."Drink a beer and relax," and all was fine. However, I can see where dealing with a dolt like Erick could be an ongoing problem. There probably isn't enough beer in the world to counteract that dude.

Gee, Clara and Justino are having incredible luck rising through the ranks sans an MBA. This could affect the programs at all those prestigious colleges.

"A brisk clatter of heels"... What a superb auditory moment. Click clack clickety clack...

I am getting verra tired of the male groverling..verra unattractive. I feel embarrassed for Eladio and David.

That scene of the three women confronting Art made me think of hub...we have two daughters, no son. We are down to one soninlaw. Like Art, Hub is in an ocean of estrogen. The difference is that hub is not an insufferable Asshat , and we all love him.

OT..If you want some respite from the groveling and pleading (new title "Groveling y Pleading",) check out the leads of the Scottish telenovela Outlander on this week's Entertainment Weekly. Ermegard !

NovelaMaven, I think this was one of (if not the) best recaps you've ever composed. Every single word leapt off the page - vibrant and meaningful. I'm searching for superlatives but settled on magnificent.

"everyone else is wallowing in the Slough of Despond", "In synchronized hostility", "No matter how much slack they are willing to cut him, no one – not even Daniela the space cadet – is willing to trust Erick to manage their money)" and "Caridad deflects attention from her bad behavior by her pious insistence that the only thing that matters now is her grandson's survival" were among too many favorites to list.

I fell asleep so only saw the first few minutes.

Arturo has craftily realized to have Julia doubt her decision to spurn him by focusing on the fact Eladio covered up his indiscretion. Unlike the honorable Arturo who also cheated but who at least had the "good grace" to confess. Proof positive that Julia needs to leave them both in the dust and go off on their own.

I am sympathetically inclined toward Regina, she is in a terrible position. I have faith that the staunchly supportive David can win her back. I do wish he would soften toward his mother though.

I keep vascillating as to who is worse - Erick or Franco. I have to say that deliberately scheming to deprive dear, sweet Consuelo of her child is giving Erick a slight edge now. I have always supported Miguel (with the exception of the night David and Regina turned against Julia). I would like to see them happy but suspect Clara might be in contention as well.

Franco cleverly tries to persuade his mother to chase Eladio. I don't think Caridad is unintelligent. Does she really think she has a snowball's chance in hell??

Susanlynn, "Like Art, Hub is in an ocean of estrogen. The difference is that hub is not an insufferable Asshat , and we all love him". Your observations and cheery humor are always a treat. I so enjoy reading your comments.

This is really getting interesting! This latest curve ball has captured my attention.

NovelaMaven, thank you again for such a wonderful recap.

Diana

Gracias, Novelamaven. Just caught up.

And thanks to those ladies who can attest to Consuelo's situation. I have no personal experience of this nor do any of my friends, but I always suspected that this level of stress can cause what happened. She needs to call her doctor.

Lic. Ruedas is completely unethical to reveal the details of the divorces to Eladio. He needs to lose his license.

Nina is a total bitch to demand Arturo's ancestral home when he has offered to buy or build her a larger one and pay all its expenses.

Regina and David are both being foolish about their parents. Julia has loved David unconditionally his entire life and he had been encouraging her for ages to divorce Eladio in the past. Arturo supported Regina in her career and against marrying the childish and potentially unfaithful Joshua (so glad he disappeared from this series). Neither of these two otherwise intelligent young people should expect their parents to stay married if the marriage isn't working.

As to Arturo's interaction with Erick I think he's suspicious of him. It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it situation, but he looks at him out of the corner of his eye.

Right back at you, Diana. We have been sharing thoughts for quite awhile now, haven't we ? Life is hard at times , so we might as well get a giggle from these crazy characters and thank our lucky stars that none of them are in our real orbits.

Enjoyed the recap Novela Maven!

Susanlynn: I've been saying that Erick will win full custody of Jr & likely brainwash him from now until the Gran Final!

Diana: Caridad likely going to get burned again & making dumb decision for a son, who HATES her is making things worse!

La Paloma: I'm obviously certain that Arturo might end up losing the mansion & his company once Purple Lips is done eating him & spitting him out!

I'm also expecting Eladio to go off on Julia tonight!

Always a treat, NovelaMaven, and we have missed your gracious, intelligent presence on the blog line lately. But sometimes Life takes over, doesn't it?

As you know, Slough of Despond is one of my favorite phrases and I've spent more time dwelling there than I'd like to admit. But Lordy, it's a great phrase. As is:

"Only the lowlifes are smiling these days"

"...in synchronized hostility"

"brisk clatter of heels"

"Caridad brings her up to speed on the Mouth Breather situation" but the winner clearly is...

PRINCESS OF POUT IS WEARING HER PEPTO-BISMOL FACE

Jeezopeet, as Lila would say, that is just an awesome description of the annoying Regina...and as you noted, there are plenty of folks annoying the Patio these days

But you've made up for it with an wonderfully witty recap, organized by each Annoying Individual...

And so we gratefully crawl out of our own Slough of Despond and vow to see the humor in our own Human Comedy these days.

Thanks Coach!

I love me some Augie, BT I thought his specialty was corporate law, so Ibam nervous about him representing Connie. Also, isn't it a conflict of interests if Art is paying Augie to represent his daughter in-law against his son or is Aug doing it on his own?

(((Judyb)))...Caraycaray has been a good escape for me several times when my own personal telenovela has become overly dramatic and stressful. Do not be afraid to escape here as the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune are whizzing by your head. My new favorite saying is : "It is what it is." Sometimes, you just have to take care of yourself and do something that makes you feel a bit better (for me that is usually swimming, walking, dancing, reading, taking a shower, cuddling with someone, hanging out on the patio with the caray peeps, or painting my toenails electric blue).

C'est la vie, n'est-ce pas ? Hang in there , baby.

Ooh, some lovely comments already this morning...

Susanlynn, Such a treat to wake up to one of your comments, or a little bouquet of them. Thanks so much for the nice words.

Yes, they used to tell nursing moms to have a beer (or sometimes a glass of wine) to help with the let-down. It helped, but it's no longer recommended, I guess. :) I had forgotten all about that. And in any case, "with a dude like Erick, there isn't enough beer in the world..."

"Groveling and Pleading
Hee hee. It has a certain ring to it (or maybe a metal bolt?)

"Arturo feels that he is blameless." Ahhh...yeah..most asshats do !

I suppose that Connie will end up with the adoring Miguel and Augie will end up with Gaby since she is married to that other dim asshat Frank, but I kind of like Ahhhgie with Connie..cute couple.

You're welcome, Urban!

"Lic. Ruedas is completely unethical to reveal the details of the divorces to Eladio. He needs to lose his license."

Aha. Interesting point. I've been thinking of Rueda as a shark, yes, but one who more or less colors between the lines. But you're right: he is betraying the confidence of his new clients, Nina and Erick, when he discusses their cases with Eladio. So if he the person he really answers to is Eladio, maybe Rueda himself will end up double-crossing the Chimp. (A Maven can dream, right?)

"Regina and David are both being foolish about their parents."
I think they have the right to be disappointed in the people whom they once worshipped, but they ARE being foolish in allowing their parents' problems to blight their own lives. Those family gatherings would have been ghastly at ANY stage of the relationship. If they don't remember how things were before, The Patio certainly does.

Oh yes, Arturo has his suspicion about Erick and assumes a Reaganesque attitude towards his idiot son (Trust but verify).

Ah Susanlynn...I have another Parenting phrase, in addition to "It is what it is" that a therapist told a close friend of mine.

It's THEIR journey.

Not sure if it's much help when we're twisting in the wind wondering how we can help our struggling children, but there is is. Another one to add to the collection.

Dear Diana,
As usual, you are much too generous. And as usual, I will take the money and run. Thank you, amiga!

"Franco cleverly tries to persuade his mother to chase Eladio. I don't think Caridad is unintelligent. Does she really think she has a snowball's chance in hell??"

Great question. My guess is that, for the sake of the plot, all Caridad has to do is get physically close to Eladio in what appears to be a compromising position (though it can be staged or one-sided) and have Julia witness the scene. Julia will assume the worst (especially if Eladio has made a scene about her visit to GM) and the damage will be done. (Let the game of Musical Beds resume!)

Novelamaven, I always love your wit and wisdom. After a few days of dark, cold ,rainy weather. Also , my spirits have risen now that my class is moving on from passive voice and into the slightly less intimidating world of coordinating conjunctions. On the other hand, the whole family has colds. Remind me to .invest in tissues and decongestants when I am able to breathe and concentrate again? If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

As to the beer... My maternal grandparents came from Germany , and I grew up in a rural area full of German descendants, but I have never liked beer. I had the one for "medicinal purposes" re:the milk. It worked. I guess that now , the doctor would tell Connie to meditate and drink a lot of water...would that be enough to counter the menace that is Erick? Over the years, I have come to recognize that dumb is dangerous!

I hope that in the end, our few and far between heroes get some sugar , especially Ahhhgie because he has been getting this family of fools out of one mess after another. Find a new job , Ahhhgie , where you will not have to deal with this dysfunctional clan. Polish up that resume , and move forward.

Thanks, Steve!
I'm glad you enjoyed the recap.

Dear JudyB,

You are so generous to cheer us on even when you have given up on the main event here. Thank you for understanding. (Al buen entendedor, pocas palabras.)

"And so we gratefully crawl out of our own Slough of Despond and vow to see the humor in our own Human Comedy these days."

I wonder if we can get that embroidered on a pillow or something? If Anita were running a P&P store, I'm quite sure she would find a provider for us.

I'm also relieved that you can see how annoying Regina is. I know not everyone sees it that way, but we're entitled, right? :)

Judyb...I will write that one down. However, as we both know too well, it is easy to say, but not so easy to do because your children are always your children no matter how old they or you are. When they hurt, a mother cannot help but hurt and fret, too. Been there, done that, got the teeshirt. As my not very warm and cuddly mother told me once in her Golden years, "You will always be my baby."

Those maxims sometimes get to me. Hub went to a seminar at work once, and for weeks after, he kept saying a phrase he picked up ..."I don't own this problem." It got old fast.

As for Dani and Reggie butting into the fight between Art and Nini, I used to tell my older daughter "You are part of the family, but you are not part of the marriage." These parents have to stop pulling their children into their drama.

Thanks for the wonderful recap! And to all the recappers a big thank you as I comment everyday.

I fear we have seen the last of nice Eladio. Unfortunately he'll just push Julia into Art's arms. Obviously she has no purpose but to be a see-saw.

Julia has become insufferable. She is soooo ineffectual. She keeps trying to explain, explain. Just yell I didn't kiss him! He kissed me! I want nothing to do with him! (and mean it!) And now she is waffling on Arturo. I guess it had to happen. I fear those two are our endgame which does not make me happy one bit.

Caridad gets stupider every day and I'm really not liking her.

Erick will probably win custody of the baby.

I have a feeling things are about to get even way worse than they have been for the good guys. Of course in this show we have so few truly "good" guys. Can't help but pull for Eladio while Arturo is ready to chuck his whole family aside for Julia.

Novelamaven..Add me to that list of folks who find Reg annoying.

"Find a new job , Ahhhgie , where you will not have to deal with this dysfunctional clan. Polish up that resume , and move forward."

Excellent advice, Susanlynn. I think we should keep yelling it at our screens until Agustín shows us that he is listening. He could walk away and set up shop somewhere else. Haven't we been told that he's one of the top lawyers in the country? He can still be Arturo's informal therapist, if he insists, but the two can communicate over Skype. (Personally, I will be upset with the writers if they do something evil to Agustín before this story is done.)

You are very welcome, Carvivlie!

"Julia has become insufferable. She is soooo ineffectual. She keeps trying to explain, explain."

Sigh. Sadly, yes. She was always hard to watch, but now she's also hard to like, at least for me.

I really hope this thing doesn't go so far as to give Erick custody of the kid. (Talk about hard to watch!) But you may be right...

Susanlynn, I will add your name to the list! hee hee.

Carvivle..yes, Julia keeps doing and saying the same things over and over and over. She lets these guys..Hum, Eladio, Art ..pull her every which way! What she has been doing and saying is not working. Julia, try a new approach.

I think Connie should sign over the baby to Erick and them and leave town. She's done very little to protect her child up to this point.

Regina is the only person to blame for her breaking up with David. Arturo didn't make her do that. Accept your responsibility for your own misery.

Jorge looks like the new Eladio ...ambitious brassy young guy starting to make his own business, trying to court the pretty pretty princess who he knows does not care for him.

Clara will end up exposing Angeles...but to whom?

Yes, I wonder who is lining their pockets? Again, Jorge is the new Eladio so I vote for him.

Thanks for your comment, Anon207.

"I think Connie should sign over the baby to Erick and them and leave town. She's done very little to protect her child up to this point."

Really? As far as I can see, she's doing the best she can against the Nina/Erick/Daniela juggernaut.

Jorge as an Eladio wannabe? Nice observation.

Connie's trying but she's not getting her Mama Bear on. Hopefully this custody challenge from Erick will summon it. It's past time for Connie to put her foot down with ALL of the Montenegros, including Miguel. ALL of them have steamrolled over what CONNIE wants for HER child.

I did note she apparently has asked Agustin to be the godfather of the baby so Nina, Assmore & Co. may be getting quite the surprise at the baptism.

Yes, I think Jorge could be the new Eladio, but perhaps a non-violent version.

David = Arturo, golden boy who gets everything handed to him by his dad

Regina = Julia, pretty princess on a pedestal

Jorge = Eladio, ambitious upstart who wants the pretty princess for himself. If Jorge had been elevating the parts price & skimming the difference for himself (his "microloan") he may share shadiness with Eladio too.

Connie/Miguel/Erick kind of mirrors 2/3rd of the novela Julia/Arturo/Eladio:

Miguel = Arturo, minus the golden boy status. Obsessed with pretty princess Consuelo & ignoring everyone's pleas to stay away from her

Connie = Julia, pretty princess trapped in a cage

Erick = Eladio, abusive a$$hole ready to destroy Connie/Julia because she won't stay by his side & wants Miguel/Arturo. Only difference between Erick & Eladio is Erick couldn't care less about Connie.

And then there's the Julia/Eladio/Caridad/Franco parallel with Gaby/Franco/Marintia/Franco Jr.

There's something definitely up with the price of the parts being excessive & David questioning that. I doubt Eladio has anything to do with that so my suspects are Franco & Jorge and since Jorge claims to have a new microloan ....

A very amusing recap, especially that yeah, nobody cares about Clara and Justino's love. And yes, nobody trusts Erick with their money.

David was really unfair assuming Eladio just wants to cheat Julia out of shares. Say what you will about Eladio, but he would never do that. Denying Julia money has never been a concern for him.

There's nothing more to David asking Justino for advice other than to give Justino a new job. If you'll remember, when Regina and David worked together (with Jorge), they mentioned that they even managed to cut costs and therefore did the project under budget. David just thought that maybe he could cut the costs on whatever he's working on now. This sets up Justino being back at GLA after Franco fired him.

Jorge is a good guy. Yes, he's clearly interested in Gina, but he has been a friend to her without ulterior motive. He isn't hiding how he feels, but the turtle gesture is more about their childhood friendship. He is a hard-working honest guy who has done well for himself even though he didn't come from money. Of course he wants a chance with Gina, but he's not manipulating her or doing anything shady to get in her good graces.

-Annie

Thanks, Annie! I'm glad to see that Jorge has a defender on the Patio. You may turn out to be right about him.

I don't think that representing Consuelo is a conflict of interest for Augustin. Arturo had no problem with this and he certainly understood why she wanted to divorce Erick. I doubt he knows all the details if Erick's ill treatment of Consuelo, but I don't know whether she will tell him now. She may worry about whether he will side with Erick in the mistaken belief that it will make things any easier with his own divorce.

As to everyone's reactions to Julia lately it's suddenly dawning on me that it's once a victim, always a victim because they also get dumped on for being victims.

Women in her situation need understanding. The most danger they are ever in is when they try to leave abusive husbands. Julia was abused by Humberto, then Eladio, who used threats to withdraw financial support of Humberto to keep her in the cage he built for her. It's not so easy to run. Many if not most don't even know their own feelings after a while because they have to do too many compromises of them in order to tolerate the situation.

Since Julia didn't witness a normal marriage with her own parents, it's not a stretch to believe she had and still has no idea what that is.

To continue that point, Julia needs to be self-reliant for a while. She needs to learn her own worth. After all those years of abuse and confusion it takes more than six months of seeing a shrink to learn this.

NovelaMaven this is incredible. Bout when I think you brought it all you bring more. Dig it!

"(Like it would take an emotional genius to notice the Princess of Pout is wearing her Pepto-Bismol face.)"

I never liked Julia so I ain't piling on. It befuddles me the one winged butterfly is the prize Art and Eladio are fighting over.

Runner up is Caridad and I'm mad because I made a real attempt at being sympathetic to her plight. I have a bug zapper in my garden designed for the likes of her.

Regina makes me tired

Caridad is another person who grew up with no proper boundaries and ended up in a different cage from Julia's. She is so desperate for connexion that she doesn't see that Franco is playing her. Since he is not going to get what he really wants it won't be much longer before the light bulb has to go on.

If it doesn't she will need to get the hell out of Dodge because her life will be in danger.

There is no dishonor in running away for both Julia and Caridad

UA..I would like to see Connie get a smart, fierce woman attorney who specializes in divorce. There are a few in this area with a reputation for really protecting their clients!

Tofie..yeah..most of these people just tire me out.

Aw, tofie. I blush. Thank you!

How you skewer these people so neatly and without breaking a sweat! I think you are some kind of epigrammatic genius –

"It befuddles me the one winged butterfly is the prize Art and Eladio are fighting over."

"I'm mad because I made a real attempt at being sympathetic to [Caridad's] plight. I have a bug zapper in my garden designed for the likes of her.

"Regina makes me tired"

And I completely agree that there is no dishonor in running from an impossible situation.

As for Dani and Reggie butting into the fight between Art and Nini, I used to tell my older daughter "You are part of the family, but you are not part of the marriage." These parents have to stop pulling their children into their drama.

Susanlynn, you are so right.

It was inevitable that Nina would pull Daniela and Erick into this, but dragging Regina into it was specifically meant to hurt Arturo because she is his golden child. Regina is also desperate in some way for Nina's approval, which will always come with conditions attached.

There is no dishonor in running away for both Julia and Caridad

Tofie, you're right, but neither will do this without resolving their issues with their sons. Julia is the one more likely to be able to do this although it will take time and patience, but Caridad is equally relentless in her quest to resolve things with Franco. David is at least honest with Julia, but Franco doesn't have a good relationship with the truth.

Urban, let me see if I can say this right.

As you know very well, in most art forms, unlike in life, there is normally a distillation of character and conflict. The viewer/reader/listener is given enough, but never too much, to draw conclusions and make judgments.

But in telenovelas, because of the need to extend the story over a long period of time, characters and situations are often repeated, sometimes ad nauseam. What was affecting the first or second time around (Julia's fragile vulnerability, say) becomes merely irritating after a dozen or more such displays.

While I can imagine a carefully composed story in which both Julia and Caridad emerge as sympathetic figures, in this particular version they have become tedious. Personally, I find it increasingly hard to remember why I ever felt sympathy for them. I can understand why you see things differently though, and I always appreciate your careful articulation of your point of view.

Urban,

"David is at least honest with Julia, but Franco doesn't have a good relationship with the truth."

Nice.

Franco will find himself in a worse situation than Eladio was in. He can't pull the Rejection Card (not that Eladio really had the right after raping Julia) and he knew about Marintia's pregnancy before marrying Gabriela.

Both situations sound like marriages made in bad faith. A good female shark attorney could make mincemeat out of Franco and could have done so for Julia long before this.

Forgot to mention Angeles before. I hope Clara rats her out. I don't think this was the first time she was nearby when Angeles was betraying her boss and her company.

NovelaMaven, to your point, US soaps were worse about such things. That was one of the reasons I stopped watching them. The others were the non-aging of characters whose children grew from infant to teen in one year of episodes and the retconning of characters as in Luke and Laura of General Hospital. That last item is why I'm furious with the writers of this series.

I don't know how many viewers of novelas watch every episode as diligently as I do (even when I'm not on a recap team) but I know that a lot of the repeated discussion of character situations in US soaps had to have been for the benefit of viewers who didn't catch every episode in the days of no ability to record or watch On Demand.

NovelaMaven, you came back with a bang! Fantastic recap. the Princess of Pout is wearing her Pepto-Bismol face -- wow, that's a sidebar.

I like Jorge’s can-do ‘tude. He doesn’t strike me as sneaky, but what do I know. At least he doesn't make me sleepy like Justino does.

Of all the lowdown things Franco has done, this is the lowest. Setting up his mom, who hasn’t had male affection in 20 years, to make a play for Eladio. I’m ticked at Caridad too, but then she was locked up for so long and released back to the big wide world without a counselor or therapy group. She needs therapy as much as Eladio does.

I’d hate to see Consuelo lose custody of her baby, but it would be a delight to see baby Erick at the mansion spitting up on his dad's expensive duds and stinking up his diaper all over the place. Erick and Nina wouldn’t be able to hire a nanny soon enough. Consuelo needs to start taping her conversations when Erick bullies her.

Hello! I'm late to the conversation but I have to thank you NovelaMaven for such an excellent recap! I love your use of the word "triumvirate", never seen it before and I had to google it, as an English major I am delighted to learn a new word! My favorite line: "Like it would take an emotional genius to notice the Princess of Pout is wearing her Pepto-Bismol face.)" The perfect way to describe the look Regina had. Add me to the list of people super annoyed by her. She seemed so immature when telling Nina the chisme that Franco is Eladio's son. All she does is tattle to momma. Then there was the horrible confrontation with Julia, Anon207 you said it very well that Regina is to blame for her breakup with David, it was disgusting and immature that she blamed Julia.

Thank you Urban for defending Julia. I completely agree. She and Connie are the only ones I'm really cheering for. Very interesting parallels were pointed out and I agree they both need to find inner strength

Thanks for another great recap, NovelaMaven. Once again everyday words dance to the tune you whistle. I marvel.

"...synchronized hostility..."

I love it.

"...she hurries away with a brisk clatter of heels down the hallway."

And did you notice David shuffling around in his squeaky slippers?

Beer for nursing mothers?

Yes, for a number of excellent reasons.

I'm not sure that Coni would necessarily need a woman attorney but she definitely needs a different attorney with no potential conflict of interest.

Carlos

WOW!! NM is back. So happy about that.---Many good lines today but I will just mention my favorite--Daniela the space cadet. I think that it's a fitting title because Daniela is often in outer space or flying high if you will.

I'm glad that Clara spied the spy. The truth has to come out sooner or later and even though we are not in the tn's final stages, things are starting to happen and people are starting to be revealed for their deeds or for what they are.

No one likes Clara and Justino---well I do. That's ok. I've been all alone on the patio before and so one more time won't hurt. I'm a big boy, I can take it.

Patio peeps---Regina is soooooo annoying. Ok, I will be more than happy to take her off of your hands. There, problem solved.

Just a thought--no spoiler. It does look like Erick is going to get custody of little Erick. At this point, what can Consuelo do? Erick and his lawyer will be throwing everything but the kitchen sink at her. Consuelo will shed a river of tears and will be devastated over her loss of little Erick. But wait---Remember the police detective who was angry at Erick being let go? I think that some way some how, he is going to crack the case and Erick will be spending a very long time in the slammer. Consuelo will regain custody of little Erick.

Carvivlie---I've had that very same thought. Why not just yell it from the rooftops
I DIDN"T KISS HIM--HE FORCED THE KISS!!! It's just that simple. But if Julia did that, she wouldn't end up with Arturo. She has been saying that if it weren't for David? Well that is going to be resolved and like NovelaMaven said, Eladio will probably go off the deep end and like telenovela magic, Julia and Arturo will be a couple once again. Several have been wondering and asking why Julia hasn't been more forceful in her confrontations with Arturo? It's their destiny to rekindle that
old flame.

I'm really enjoying your comments today, folks!

Hey Niecie, ¡muchas gracias por la flor!

It's nice to hear that Jorge has another fan.

And yes, Franco may have hit a new low last night. Of course, he is All Manipulation All the Time. Just about every word out of his mouth is a lie and everything he does is duplicitous.

"it would be a delight to see baby Erick at the mansion spitting up on his dad's expensive duds and stinking up his diaper all over the place."

Hah! Wonderful image. I suspect it would be Petra dealing with spit-up and stinky diapers though. :)

Lily, you are very welcome. Like you, I love learning new words. As for "triumvirate," I'm going to blame it on all that Latin I studied in another life. :)

I suppose Regina will need to overhear Nina expressing her unvarnished opinions in a conversation with Fanny or Daniela, say, if she is ever going to get out from under Nina's spell. I actually like that Regina loves her mother, warts and all. I also think she's justified in reproaching her father for his churlish behavior. But all the slapping and yelling and pouting and leading on the ridiculous Turtle-giver – bah!
:)

Regina has told Jorge repeatedly she is not interested in him as anything but a friend and he hasn't seen Regina in a number of years. That is not cool behavior.

I don't think they had David commenting on the excessive prices for nothing. If it were nothing they could've just written the scene like this:

David: Hey, I want you to look over these parts prices so we can be sure we're getting a fair deal.

Justino: No problem, after what you did for me, Maribel & Luisita.

Instead they wrote it like this:

David: Hey, I want you to look over these parts prices. They seem really high to me.

Justino: No problem, after what you did for me, Maribel & Luisita.

Sounds like somebody is getting an invoice from Mexican Parts Inc. for $5 but submitting reports to Gomez Luna & Associates saying the Mexican Parts Inc. invoice was for $8 and keeping the difference. If that's the case, we'll see if it's Franco skimming or Jorge skimming.

Carlos, it is both a joy and a relief to see you here today. And as always, I am immensely flattered that you found something to enjoy in today's recap.

"And did you notice David shuffling around in his squeaky slippers?"

Hah! No, I didn't, but the image is a delight. Thank you for that.

I'd love to see a new character introduced to represent Consuelo. Given that Erick is pond scum, it is hard to understand how the court would award him sole custody of an infant if Consuelo had someone clever and competent in her corner. But then Telenovela Justicia works in mysterious ways.

Yes, beer is definitely what the doctor used to order and for all kinds of reasons. Not many do these days though, perhaps on the "Give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile" theory with associated visions of mom and baby drunk as skunks, the nursery floor littered with empty cans.

Hola Gringo! Thanks so much!

Hey, I like Justino and Clara too. I just don't think too many people around here are that invested in their story.

Thanks for the generous offer to solve the Regina problem. :)

I really have no idea how this will all turn out, even if we can predict storms tonight. But that helps to keep us all watching, right?

Novelamaven...I studied Latin for two years in high school The same teacher also taught me French and English lit.The only words I remember are ..amo, amas, amat, amamus, amatus , amant... And. Vini, vidi, vici??? Or something like that.

NM-Haven't had time to thank you for PyP recap. I know why you got your nickname. Superb writing and organization and delightful as well. My poor scribblings are on last night's Hotel, so I was up verrra late and keeping an eye on it today.

May I say:
I HATE ARTURO (sheepishly, though, because I LOVE Jorge Salinas. Artie is playing at master manipulator, but it ain't going to work.)

I HATE ERICK (what a turd--is he going to put cameras in Consuelo's apartment to make sure she is breast feeding and not using a bottle?)

I HATE FRANCO (if Janus were evil through and through, that's what Franco would be, the two-faced little worm. Alas, he only looks to the future by using his past.)

I HATE JORGE (how much more obvious can he get--a turtle? I think Regina would probably prefer the chocolate kind.)

I HATE JULIA RIGHT NOW (by believing herself confused, she's confusing everyone else around her, especially Artie.)

I HATE NINA NOT SO MUCH (her deductive reasoning is a little false, but she calls it the way she sees it. I wouldn't want my rival moving into my house either.)

I HATE CARIDAD NOT SO MLUCH (she did her damage, complicated things for Eladio, Julia, Gaby, David and Franco. If she believes she has a chance with Eladio, then she's a little bit of a dimwit and I can't blame her.)

I HATE THAT I NOW ENJOY WATCHING HUMBERTO'S HIJINKS (may his oxygen tank fall off his wheel chair, it tips over in a pool taking him with it and Julia has to watch.)

I HATE MARINTIA FOR WHAT SHE AND CARIDAD ARE PROBABLY GOING TO DO (may her bebe live, but the bebe can't get a passport to get back to Mexico any time soon)

I HATE THAT DAVID IS BEING SUCH A LOVING PRICK (oh, yes, he loves Regina, but he didn't even see The Kiss and admits it to his mother.)

I HATE ASSMORE, JUST BECAUSE (and I bet he's the prestanombres)

I HATE JUSTINO, CLARA AND LUISITA FOR TAKING UP VALUABLE AIRSPACE (Ok, maybe Clara is useful as a caring friend for Consuelo, when she needs it.)

I HATE REGINA AND DANI TEAMING UP (and they believing it, to support poor Mommie Dearest)

Sorry, I'm just exuding hate right now. Sorry, sorry. Now I'll read the comments. Maybe it will make me feel better! HA!

Novela Maven,

Thanks for the recap. Like many others, love the phrase .."and she hurries away with a brisk clatter of heels down the hallway" ... Reads like a classic line from a novel AND it seems to fit the spiky heels Julia typically wears. No flats for these women regardless of the terrain.

Anywho, to the patio peeps, I remain at the table with the psychologists and the tattoo artists as mentioned before. The shrinkies have been shaking their head lately with all of the recent activities of our favorite families. Today, they have their copies of "Healthy boundaries and how to draw the line"(comes with free chalk) and "Listen before you leap". Copies available for loan.

Mena

The only resolutions I want to see for Clara are:

-- Turning Angeles in to Arturo
-- Finding out who her parents are/were
-- Getting a promotion at GM

She can do better than Justino.

Nina is jumping to this conclusion about Julia because this is what she would be doing in her place. That is how a narcissist's mind works.

Both Julia and Caridad are desperate for love. Caridad may be more aware of that than Julia, who at least has a loving sister, niece, and son. Caridad's mother was useless and she has no other family of origin. All we know about the husband she killed defending Franco is that he left for the US to find work and was gone for five years. I don't recall any other information about him.

I think at least half of each family will die before this thing ends. Can Art and Julia really be happy surrounded by death? Unfortunately, I don't see Eladio and Julia as end game and I've yet to see the female lead end up alone at the end of a TN.

Mena--Those two titles would be best sellers--if I were running a PyP store. Alas, I can't compete with those big box stores out near the Interstates. Somehow, I didn't get the entrepreneurial fever to open a small boutique to sell Purple Lipstick or turtles. Having free chalk might entice some buyers, eh?

Ah, Carvivlie--We are only waiting for the big conflagration we see in all the opening credits. With Eladio's gold "bic" at the ready, it should be good.
P.S. I didn't see it, but didn't what's her name, Acacia, in La Malquerida walk away alone?

From now on maybe we should have a drinking game connected to Eladio flicking his lighter.

Anita, I think you are right about Acacia. Both guys died. I didn't follow that one closely so I can't remember if there was a possible someone else waiting in the wings for her.

Anita,

"...ASSMORE... (and I bet he's the prestanombres)"

Oh how much I hope you're right about that. I saw such a thing happen first hand. A Dr. I met early on in my career did just that by signing over shares in a hospital partnership to a presumed friend and fellow Dr. to shield them from his wife in a divorce proceeding. The result was predictable and hilarious poetic justice.

Carlos

Anita. At the end of La Mal, not only Acacia walked away alone but so did the mother . Well, they both had novios waiting in the wings.

In Fuego en la Sangre, the sisters opened a small shop that the patio peeps liked to refer to as Crap from Afar . If you decide to open a P y P boutique, do not forget to stock ties , skanky dresses, nursing bras, BIG necklaces, pocket hankies, oxygen, nuts and bolts.

P.S. In LA Mal, the smarmy stepfather went to prison, but the ladies novios were ready, willing, healthy ..and waiting. No weddings in the finale though. ...no bridal gowns for mom and daughter as they walked away from the hacienda.

I thought Miguel was the prestanombres. Didn't Art say he had put properties under his name? I guess there can be more than one...

I'm with everyone who wants Aggie to move on, but I'd like to see him get a more age appropriate and social position appropriate haircut first. I have been seeing more and more of these cuts, but on young barrio dudes and young men in the entertainment field. Maybe he wants a singing career?

Dear Anita,

I'm sure your Hotel recap is splendid. I'm always several days behind on that one, so I will have to wait a few days (or weeks) to read your story. You are, as always, much too generous with me. (No Belgian waffle, you!) Thank you!

So that's quite a list there, my friend. I learned a new adjective in Spanish class today: iracundo/a. WordReference defines it as "irritable, irascible, cantankarous." Now why in the world would that come to mind just now???

About the prestanombres – don't we already know it's Miguel? With some holdings in Agustín's name too? Or did I misunderstand that part?

Your entrepreneurial fervor always brings so much to The Patio. I so wish I could shop at the P&P...

You're welcome, Mena!

"Healthy boundaries and how to draw the line"(comes with free chalk)

Hahahaha! Those shrinks – always looking to make an extra buck!

I don't mean to sound callous, but narratively speaking, wouldn't it be interesting if Julia suddenly died? All these people are deriving their identities from her – what would they do if she ceased to exist?

NovelaMaven,

"...wouldn't it be interesting if Julia suddenly died?"

Have you been hanging out with Steve Boudreaux at the I Hope They Die Table?

Carlos

Oh my, Carlos. Oh my.

NM--You should really have the last word. Not callous, I'd call it a devious mind still hard at work--24 hours later!

NovelaMaven,

"Oh my, Carlos. Oh my."

Please excuse me NovelaMaven and Steve, I was feeling a bit iracundo.

Carlos

Novelamaven...yikes. Did you have a beer ?

No te preocupes, Carlos. And from now on, I'll try to keep my narrative hypotheticals to myself, especially when my inner gruñona is getting the better of me.

David would survive if she died accidentally. If her death were the result -- directly or indirectly -- of anyone's action he'd be devastated. Same goes for Amanda and her husband.

Eladio might commit suicide whether or not he would be in any way at fault.

Arturo might sink into depression again, except worse this time.

Gabriela would be devastated because this would occur after she finds out what a cad Franco is.

Do we even care how Humberto would feel?

A beer, Susanlynn? Um, maybe just a little one...

Yikes, Urban. Given those possibilities, well ... L'CHAIM, JULIA!

Novelamaven...Cheers , then !!! I will be watching Julia verra carefully tonight.

NovelaMaven,

Since you started it (or maybe Steve did), why not open up an I Hope They Die Table and those who wish to participate drop by, have a drink, and choose one person in this TN whom they'd like to have die (and why)?

Carlos

That sounds like fun, Carlos (though you are being much too modest here – the credit for the idea is yours and yours alone). Drinks might be a problem, however, since I doubt anyone would accept any potables from the I Hope They Die Table. May I suggest a strict BYOB policy?

I'll play. I'd like a whiskey sour and Erick..both on the rocks.

Susanlynn♥,

How about a Scotch sour? You know, getting ready for Outlander. But have you considered carefully? Don't forget how great Erick looks in those tight jeans. Could I offer you a Miguel instead?

Carlos

...yes, a Scotch sour it is ...and maybe a Drambuie in honor of my sweet, sweet Scottish baboo Jamie. "Je suis prest" (I am ready..muy, muy ready) Have you checked out season two videos on youtube? No torture this season. And no..Erick is my first choice. I did not even notice the jeans. Also, I do not want to see that dolt in a kilt. Miguel is a pobrecito...set up a dram for him, too.

NovelaMaven,
Thanks so much for the entertaining and informative recap. Your style of writing amazes me. Of course the whole team is awesome.

I need to go back in time and thank Mauricio for last Friday's recap, and for helping us out on Monday. Cynderella, I also hope that you and your mother are doing fine. I pray for a quick recovery. And Urban, what can I say? Tuesday's recap was another slam dunk. I have only attempted to translate one or two conversations. You, my dear are the queen of dialogue.

Thank you to all of the PyP team for all of your hard work.

Hasta Pronto

Wonderful recap as usual NovelaMaven, thank you! I, too, fell asleep and didn't get to watch last night. After reading some of these scintillating comments I can only say that I recommend Consuelo drink Guinness Stout, as my English husband recommended to me.
It works beautifully and you get a nice soft glow at the same time!

Loved your Pepto-Bismol remark about Regina.....hope she can get her brain synchronized soon where David is concerned. The turtle from Jorge would be lovely as a pate on toast from Regina at Nina's next cocktail party. Poor turtle!

Julia makes my heart break. To see that she's never had a chance to "find herself" so far and also know that this is the plight of many women, though becoming less so, at least in the U.S. Male dominance is inherent but augmentation really set in when women had to depend on men for their survival way back when, i.e., no way to support themselves. I hate to think how awful it was when women were treated as chattel.

Gale

Carlos...On second thought, can I change my vote? Hummy has got to go. What an awful person..selling and then trying to resell his own daughter to the highest bidder. .yuck. Drinks for everyone.

I'll drink to that. Make that a very dry martini; shaken, not stirred.

AuntyAnn, thanks so much. There's no doubt that you're a wonderful part of the team.

Gale,

You are very kind. Thank you. And I hope Consuelo reads your comment and is able to follow your advice. (Though I do hope the poor turtle gets a reprieve!)

Whatever may be happening in the world at large, machismo is alive and well in the TN world even when the writers are trying to be politically correct. Sigh.

Novela Maven: I'm not going to be shocked if Erick sends his Peralta thug to whack Miguel or Connie!

On Clara spying on Angeles: I hope she does rat the spy out. But having been feeling Clara will be in danger too!
