Pasión y poder, Episode 93, Thursday, February 25, 2016: Got milk?
Labels: poder
Wow, the three Montnegro women sure ganged up on Arturo. If he hadn't hit so many lows, I'd feel bad for him. But I don't.
Jorge sending Regina a turtle?! A puppy would have been better. But then again, the poor puppy having to live with those people.
Ah, thanks for pointing out that budget check of the parts meant something. I didn't realize that.
And yes, the only happy couple is the one we don't care about. What is the point of them? Bring back Francisco!
I could be wrong about the budget check. Could be a red herring. Could be a way to get Justino moving up the ladder. Who knows? I'm just trying to get Jorge Pérez off my screen without wasting precious nerfazos that I'll need later for Erick, Franco and Humberto. :)
Jorge is really trying to rack up those points with Regina, isn't he? About the turtle - he had mentioned to Regina when they were reminiscing about growing up together that he had consoled her when her pet turtle died when she was little. He figured he's not making any headway with her through normal channels, why not try the - "Awwww, he remembered! He's so sweet, maybe I oughta give him a chance" - action. He's really sneaky. Of course, if we liked him we would say, "Oh, he's so thoughtful!"
I forgot to mention that I loved that Clara seemed skeptical about Angeles. I'm hoping she discovers that Angeles is the mole.
"Of course, if we liked him we would say, "Oh, he's so thoughtful!""
Hahaha. So true.
Oh Mauricio, I liked Clara in that scene too. I'd care more about exposing Angeles if I liked anyone at Grupo Montenegro even a little.
So Consuelo's milk is dried up? Maybe her body is simply rerouting resources trying to escape from those two sizes too small jeans. Wow she does have a nice... um.. figure. But were those jeans or body paint? Not complaining.
Two favorites:
"No matter how much slack they are willing to cut him, no one – not even Daniela the space cadet – is willing to trust Erick to manage their money."
This plus the title, of course! "Consuelo is distraught. Her milk has dried up! But if she stops nursing, Erick will take away her child!" Can your milk dry up this suddenly? My recollection is otherwise, but that was a long time ago.
"Dried up" is probably a little strong. Certainly, your milk can fail to "let down" when you're under stress, and that's probably what's happening to Consuelo. Unfortunately, if doesn't take too long for the delicate balance to between supply and demand to be upset and for your milk to truly "dry up."
UMMM , Are we supposed to believe that Connie was nursing that baby dressed to the nines and wearing high heels and huge necklaces? Hmmm...Usually , nursing mothers opt for the most comfy, easy access outfit that can find...maybe even wearing jammies all day at home because you are doing it about ever three hours.
A turtle...really, Jorge ? We are all smelling the desperation. Also, I do not like the constant glower on his pretty face. David seems to have a pleasant nature. I agree that Reg is being stupid pushing that guy away. I bet that he is a fun date.
Gee, Clara and Justino are having incredible luck rising through the ranks sans an MBA. This could affect the programs at all those prestigious colleges.
I am getting verra tired of the male groverling..verra unattractive. I feel embarrassed for Eladio and David.
That scene of the three women confronting Art made me think of hub...we have two daughters, no son. We are down to one soninlaw. Like Art, Hub is in an ocean of estrogen. The difference is that hub is not an insufferable Asshat , and we all love him.
OT..If you want some respite from the groveling and pleading (new title "Groveling y Pleading",) check out the leads of the Scottish telenovela Outlander on this week's Entertainment Weekly. Ermegard !
"everyone else is wallowing in the Slough of Despond", "In synchronized hostility", "No matter how much slack they are willing to cut him, no one – not even Daniela the space cadet – is willing to trust Erick to manage their money)" and "Caridad deflects attention from her bad behavior by her pious insistence that the only thing that matters now is her grandson's survival" were among too many favorites to list.
I fell asleep so only saw the first few minutes.
Arturo has craftily realized to have Julia doubt her decision to spurn him by focusing on the fact Eladio covered up his indiscretion. Unlike the honorable Arturo who also cheated but who at least had the "good grace" to confess. Proof positive that Julia needs to leave them both in the dust and go off on their own.
I am sympathetically inclined toward Regina, she is in a terrible position. I have faith that the staunchly supportive David can win her back. I do wish he would soften toward his mother though.
I keep vascillating as to who is worse - Erick or Franco. I have to say that deliberately scheming to deprive dear, sweet Consuelo of her child is giving Erick a slight edge now. I have always supported Miguel (with the exception of the night David and Regina turned against Julia). I would like to see them happy but suspect Clara might be in contention as well.
Franco cleverly tries to persuade his mother to chase Eladio. I don't think Caridad is unintelligent. Does she really think she has a snowball's chance in hell??
Susanlynn, "Like Art, Hub is in an ocean of estrogen. The difference is that hub is not an insufferable Asshat , and we all love him". Your observations and cheery humor are always a treat. I so enjoy reading your comments.
This is really getting interesting! This latest curve ball has captured my attention.
NovelaMaven, thank you again for such a wonderful recap.
Diana
And thanks to those ladies who can attest to Consuelo's situation. I have no personal experience of this nor do any of my friends, but I always suspected that this level of stress can cause what happened. She needs to call her doctor.
Lic. Ruedas is completely unethical to reveal the details of the divorces to Eladio. He needs to lose his license.
Nina is a total bitch to demand Arturo's ancestral home when he has offered to buy or build her a larger one and pay all its expenses.
Regina and David are both being foolish about their parents. Julia has loved David unconditionally his entire life and he had been encouraging her for ages to divorce Eladio in the past. Arturo supported Regina in her career and against marrying the childish and potentially unfaithful Joshua (so glad he disappeared from this series). Neither of these two otherwise intelligent young people should expect their parents to stay married if the marriage isn't working.
As to Arturo's interaction with Erick I think he's suspicious of him. It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it situation, but he looks at him out of the corner of his eye.
Susanlynn: I've been saying that Erick will win full custody of Jr & likely brainwash him from now until the Gran Final!
Diana: Caridad likely going to get burned again & making dumb decision for a son, who HATES her is making things worse!
La Paloma: I'm obviously certain that Arturo might end up losing the mansion & his company once Purple Lips is done eating him & spitting him out!
I'm also expecting Eladio to go off on Julia tonight!
As you know, Slough of Despond is one of my favorite phrases and I've spent more time dwelling there than I'd like to admit. But Lordy, it's a great phrase. As is:
"Only the lowlifes are smiling these days"
"...in synchronized hostility"
"brisk clatter of heels"
"Caridad brings her up to speed on the Mouth Breather situation" but the winner clearly is...
PRINCESS OF POUT IS WEARING HER PEPTO-BISMOL FACE
Jeezopeet, as Lila would say, that is just an awesome description of the annoying Regina...and as you noted, there are plenty of folks annoying the Patio these days
But you've made up for it with an wonderfully witty recap, organized by each Annoying Individual...
And so we gratefully crawl out of our own Slough of Despond and vow to see the humor in our own Human Comedy these days.
Thanks Coach!
C'est la vie, n'est-ce pas ? Hang in there , baby.
Susanlynn, Such a treat to wake up to one of your comments, or a little bouquet of them. Thanks so much for the nice words.
Yes, they used to tell nursing moms to have a beer (or sometimes a glass of wine) to help with the let-down. It helped, but it's no longer recommended, I guess. :) I had forgotten all about that. And in any case, "with a dude like Erick, there isn't enough beer in the world..."
"Groveling and Pleading
Hee hee. It has a certain ring to it (or maybe a metal bolt?)
I suppose that Connie will end up with the adoring Miguel and Augie will end up with Gaby since she is married to that other dim asshat Frank, but I kind of like Ahhhgie with Connie..cute couple.
"Lic. Ruedas is completely unethical to reveal the details of the divorces to Eladio. He needs to lose his license."
Aha. Interesting point. I've been thinking of Rueda as a shark, yes, but one who more or less colors between the lines. But you're right: he is betraying the confidence of his new clients, Nina and Erick, when he discusses their cases with Eladio. So if he the person he really answers to is Eladio, maybe Rueda himself will end up double-crossing the Chimp. (A Maven can dream, right?)
"Regina and David are both being foolish about their parents."
I think they have the right to be disappointed in the people whom they once worshipped, but they ARE being foolish in allowing their parents' problems to blight their own lives. Those family gatherings would have been ghastly at ANY stage of the relationship. If they don't remember how things were before, The Patio certainly does.
Oh yes, Arturo has his suspicion about Erick and assumes a Reaganesque attitude towards his idiot son (Trust but verify).
It's THEIR journey.
Not sure if it's much help when we're twisting in the wind wondering how we can help our struggling children, but there is is. Another one to add to the collection.
As usual, you are much too generous. And as usual, I will take the money and run. Thank you, amiga!
"Franco cleverly tries to persuade his mother to chase Eladio. I don't think Caridad is unintelligent. Does she really think she has a snowball's chance in hell??"
Great question. My guess is that, for the sake of the plot, all Caridad has to do is get physically close to Eladio in what appears to be a compromising position (though it can be staged or one-sided) and have Julia witness the scene. Julia will assume the worst (especially if Eladio has made a scene about her visit to GM) and the damage will be done. (Let the game of Musical Beds resume!)
As to the beer... My maternal grandparents came from Germany , and I grew up in a rural area full of German descendants, but I have never liked beer. I had the one for "medicinal purposes" re:the milk. It worked. I guess that now , the doctor would tell Connie to meditate and drink a lot of water...would that be enough to counter the menace that is Erick? Over the years, I have come to recognize that dumb is dangerous!
I hope that in the end, our few and far between heroes get some sugar , especially Ahhhgie because he has been getting this family of fools out of one mess after another. Find a new job , Ahhhgie , where you will not have to deal with this dysfunctional clan. Polish up that resume , and move forward.
You are so generous to cheer us on even when you have given up on the main event here. Thank you for understanding. (Al buen entendedor, pocas palabras.)
"And so we gratefully crawl out of our own Slough of Despond and vow to see the humor in our own Human Comedy these days."
I wonder if we can get that embroidered on a pillow or something? If Anita were running a P&P store, I'm quite sure she would find a provider for us.
I'm also relieved that you can see how annoying Regina is. I know not everyone sees it that way, but we're entitled, right? :)
Those maxims sometimes get to me. Hub went to a seminar at work once, and for weeks after, he kept saying a phrase he picked up ..."I don't own this problem." It got old fast.
As for Dani and Reggie butting into the fight between Art and Nini, I used to tell my older daughter "You are part of the family, but you are not part of the marriage." These parents have to stop pulling their children into their drama.
I fear we have seen the last of nice Eladio. Unfortunately he'll just push Julia into Art's arms. Obviously she has no purpose but to be a see-saw.
Julia has become insufferable. She is soooo ineffectual. She keeps trying to explain, explain. Just yell I didn't kiss him! He kissed me! I want nothing to do with him! (and mean it!) And now she is waffling on Arturo. I guess it had to happen. I fear those two are our endgame which does not make me happy one bit.
Caridad gets stupider every day and I'm really not liking her.
Erick will probably win custody of the baby.
I have a feeling things are about to get even way worse than they have been for the good guys. Of course in this show we have so few truly "good" guys. Can't help but pull for Eladio while Arturo is ready to chuck his whole family aside for Julia.
Excellent advice, Susanlynn. I think we should keep yelling it at our screens until Agustín shows us that he is listening. He could walk away and set up shop somewhere else. Haven't we been told that he's one of the top lawyers in the country? He can still be Arturo's informal therapist, if he insists, but the two can communicate over Skype. (Personally, I will be upset with the writers if they do something evil to Agustín before this story is done.)
"Julia has become insufferable. She is soooo ineffectual. She keeps trying to explain, explain."
Sigh. Sadly, yes. She was always hard to watch, but now she's also hard to like, at least for me.
I really hope this thing doesn't go so far as to give Erick custody of the kid. (Talk about hard to watch!) But you may be right...
Susanlynn, I will add your name to the list! hee hee.
Regina is the only person to blame for her breaking up with David. Arturo didn't make her do that. Accept your responsibility for your own misery.
Jorge looks like the new Eladio ...ambitious brassy young guy starting to make his own business, trying to court the pretty pretty princess who he knows does not care for him.
Clara will end up exposing Angeles...but to whom?
Yes, I wonder who is lining their pockets? Again, Jorge is the new Eladio so I vote for him.
"I think Connie should sign over the baby to Erick and them and leave town. She's done very little to protect her child up to this point."
Really? As far as I can see, she's doing the best she can against the Nina/Erick/Daniela juggernaut.
Jorge as an Eladio wannabe? Nice observation.
I did note she apparently has asked Agustin to be the godfather of the baby so Nina, Assmore & Co. may be getting quite the surprise at the baptism.
Yes, I think Jorge could be the new Eladio, but perhaps a non-violent version.
David = Arturo, golden boy who gets everything handed to him by his dad
Regina = Julia, pretty princess on a pedestal
Jorge = Eladio, ambitious upstart who wants the pretty princess for himself. If Jorge had been elevating the parts price & skimming the difference for himself (his "microloan") he may share shadiness with Eladio too.
Connie/Miguel/Erick kind of mirrors 2/3rd of the novela Julia/Arturo/Eladio:
Miguel = Arturo, minus the golden boy status. Obsessed with pretty princess Consuelo & ignoring everyone's pleas to stay away from her
Connie = Julia, pretty princess trapped in a cage
Erick = Eladio, abusive a$$hole ready to destroy Connie/Julia because she won't stay by his side & wants Miguel/Arturo. Only difference between Erick & Eladio is Erick couldn't care less about Connie.
And then there's the Julia/Eladio/Caridad/Franco parallel with Gaby/Franco/Marintia/Franco Jr.
There's something definitely up with the price of the parts being excessive & David questioning that. I doubt Eladio has anything to do with that so my suspects are Franco & Jorge and since Jorge claims to have a new microloan ....
David was really unfair assuming Eladio just wants to cheat Julia out of shares. Say what you will about Eladio, but he would never do that. Denying Julia money has never been a concern for him.
There's nothing more to David asking Justino for advice other than to give Justino a new job. If you'll remember, when Regina and David worked together (with Jorge), they mentioned that they even managed to cut costs and therefore did the project under budget. David just thought that maybe he could cut the costs on whatever he's working on now. This sets up Justino being back at GLA after Franco fired him.
Jorge is a good guy. Yes, he's clearly interested in Gina, but he has been a friend to her without ulterior motive. He isn't hiding how he feels, but the turtle gesture is more about their childhood friendship. He is a hard-working honest guy who has done well for himself even though he didn't come from money. Of course he wants a chance with Gina, but he's not manipulating her or doing anything shady to get in her good graces.
-Annie
As to everyone's reactions to Julia lately it's suddenly dawning on me that it's once a victim, always a victim because they also get dumped on for being victims.
Women in her situation need understanding. The most danger they are ever in is when they try to leave abusive husbands. Julia was abused by Humberto, then Eladio, who used threats to withdraw financial support of Humberto to keep her in the cage he built for her. It's not so easy to run. Many if not most don't even know their own feelings after a while because they have to do too many compromises of them in order to tolerate the situation.
Since Julia didn't witness a normal marriage with her own parents, it's not a stretch to believe she had and still has no idea what that is.
"(Like it would take an emotional genius to notice the Princess of Pout is wearing her Pepto-Bismol face.)"
I never liked Julia so I ain't piling on. It befuddles me the one winged butterfly is the prize Art and Eladio are fighting over.
Runner up is Caridad and I'm mad because I made a real attempt at being sympathetic to her plight. I have a bug zapper in my garden designed for the likes of her.
Regina makes me tired
If it doesn't she will need to get the hell out of Dodge because her life will be in danger.
How you skewer these people so neatly and without breaking a sweat! I think you are some kind of epigrammatic genius –
"It befuddles me the one winged butterfly is the prize Art and Eladio are fighting over."
"I'm mad because I made a real attempt at being sympathetic to [Caridad's] plight. I have a bug zapper in my garden designed for the likes of her.
"Regina makes me tired"
And I completely agree that there is no dishonor in running from an impossible situation.
Susanlynn, you are so right.
It was inevitable that Nina would pull Daniela and Erick into this, but dragging Regina into it was specifically meant to hurt Arturo because she is his golden child. Regina is also desperate in some way for Nina's approval, which will always come with conditions attached.
There is no dishonor in running away for both Julia and Caridad
Tofie, you're right, but neither will do this without resolving their issues with their sons. Julia is the one more likely to be able to do this although it will take time and patience, but Caridad is equally relentless in her quest to resolve things with Franco. David is at least honest with Julia, but Franco doesn't have a good relationship with the truth.
As you know very well, in most art forms, unlike in life, there is normally a distillation of character and conflict. The viewer/reader/listener is given enough, but never too much, to draw conclusions and make judgments.
But in telenovelas, because of the need to extend the story over a long period of time, characters and situations are often repeated, sometimes ad nauseam. What was affecting the first or second time around (Julia's fragile vulnerability, say) becomes merely irritating after a dozen or more such displays.
While I can imagine a carefully composed story in which both Julia and Caridad emerge as sympathetic figures, in this particular version they have become tedious. Personally, I find it increasingly hard to remember why I ever felt sympathy for them. I can understand why you see things differently though, and I always appreciate your careful articulation of your point of view.
"David is at least honest with Julia, but Franco doesn't have a good relationship with the truth."
Nice.
Both situations sound like marriages made in bad faith. A good female shark attorney could make mincemeat out of Franco and could have done so for Julia long before this.
Forgot to mention Angeles before. I hope Clara rats her out. I don't think this was the first time she was nearby when Angeles was betraying her boss and her company.
I don't know how many viewers of novelas watch every episode as diligently as I do (even when I'm not on a recap team) but I know that a lot of the repeated discussion of character situations in US soaps had to have been for the benefit of viewers who didn't catch every episode in the days of no ability to record or watch On Demand.
I like Jorge’s can-do ‘tude. He doesn’t strike me as sneaky, but what do I know. At least he doesn't make me sleepy like Justino does.
Of all the lowdown things Franco has done, this is the lowest. Setting up his mom, who hasn’t had male affection in 20 years, to make a play for Eladio. I’m ticked at Caridad too, but then she was locked up for so long and released back to the big wide world without a counselor or therapy group. She needs therapy as much as Eladio does.
I’d hate to see Consuelo lose custody of her baby, but it would be a delight to see baby Erick at the mansion spitting up on his dad's expensive duds and stinking up his diaper all over the place. Erick and Nina wouldn’t be able to hire a nanny soon enough. Consuelo needs to start taping her conversations when Erick bullies her.
Thank you Urban for defending Julia. I completely agree. She and Connie are the only ones I'm really cheering for. Very interesting parallels were pointed out and I agree they both need to find inner strength
"...synchronized hostility..."
I love it.
"...she hurries away with a brisk clatter of heels down the hallway."
And did you notice David shuffling around in his squeaky slippers?
Beer for nursing mothers?
Yes, for a number of excellent reasons.
I'm not sure that Coni would necessarily need a woman attorney but she definitely needs a different attorney with no potential conflict of interest.
Carlos
I'm glad that Clara spied the spy. The truth has to come out sooner or later and even though we are not in the tn's final stages, things are starting to happen and people are starting to be revealed for their deeds or for what they are.
No one likes Clara and Justino---well I do. That's ok. I've been all alone on the patio before and so one more time won't hurt. I'm a big boy, I can take it.
Patio peeps---Regina is soooooo annoying. Ok, I will be more than happy to take her off of your hands. There, problem solved.
Just a thought--no spoiler. It does look like Erick is going to get custody of little Erick. At this point, what can Consuelo do? Erick and his lawyer will be throwing everything but the kitchen sink at her. Consuelo will shed a river of tears and will be devastated over her loss of little Erick. But wait---Remember the police detective who was angry at Erick being let go? I think that some way some how, he is going to crack the case and Erick will be spending a very long time in the slammer. Consuelo will regain custody of little Erick.
Carvivlie---I've had that very same thought. Why not just yell it from the rooftops
I DIDN"T KISS HIM--HE FORCED THE KISS!!! It's just that simple. But if Julia did that, she wouldn't end up with Arturo. She has been saying that if it weren't for David? Well that is going to be resolved and like NovelaMaven said, Eladio will probably go off the deep end and like telenovela magic, Julia and Arturo will be a couple once again. Several have been wondering and asking why Julia hasn't been more forceful in her confrontations with Arturo? It's their destiny to rekindle that
old flame.
must see tv
the gringo
Hey Niecie, ¡muchas gracias por la flor!
It's nice to hear that Jorge has another fan.
And yes, Franco may have hit a new low last night. Of course, he is All Manipulation All the Time. Just about every word out of his mouth is a lie and everything he does is duplicitous.
"it would be a delight to see baby Erick at the mansion spitting up on his dad's expensive duds and stinking up his diaper all over the place."
Hah! Wonderful image. I suspect it would be Petra dealing with spit-up and stinky diapers though. :)
I suppose Regina will need to overhear Nina expressing her unvarnished opinions in a conversation with Fanny or Daniela, say, if she is ever going to get out from under Nina's spell. I actually like that Regina loves her mother, warts and all. I also think she's justified in reproaching her father for his churlish behavior. But all the slapping and yelling and pouting and leading on the ridiculous Turtle-giver – bah!
:)
I don't think they had David commenting on the excessive prices for nothing. If it were nothing they could've just written the scene like this:
David: Hey, I want you to look over these parts prices so we can be sure we're getting a fair deal.
Justino: No problem, after what you did for me, Maribel & Luisita.
Instead they wrote it like this:
David: Hey, I want you to look over these parts prices. They seem really high to me.
Justino: No problem, after what you did for me, Maribel & Luisita.
Sounds like somebody is getting an invoice from Mexican Parts Inc. for $5 but submitting reports to Gomez Luna & Associates saying the Mexican Parts Inc. invoice was for $8 and keeping the difference. If that's the case, we'll see if it's Franco skimming or Jorge skimming.
"And did you notice David shuffling around in his squeaky slippers?"
Hah! No, I didn't, but the image is a delight. Thank you for that.
I'd love to see a new character introduced to represent Consuelo. Given that Erick is pond scum, it is hard to understand how the court would award him sole custody of an infant if Consuelo had someone clever and competent in her corner. But then Telenovela Justicia works in mysterious ways.
Yes, beer is definitely what the doctor used to order and for all kinds of reasons. Not many do these days though, perhaps on the "Give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile" theory with associated visions of mom and baby drunk as skunks, the nursery floor littered with empty cans.
Hey, I like Justino and Clara too. I just don't think too many people around here are that invested in their story.
Thanks for the generous offer to solve the Regina problem. :)
I really have no idea how this will all turn out, even if we can predict storms tonight. But that helps to keep us all watching, right?
May I say:
I HATE ARTURO (sheepishly, though, because I LOVE Jorge Salinas. Artie is playing at master manipulator, but it ain't going to work.)
I HATE ERICK (what a turd--is he going to put cameras in Consuelo's apartment to make sure she is breast feeding and not using a bottle?)
I HATE FRANCO (if Janus were evil through and through, that's what Franco would be, the two-faced little worm. Alas, he only looks to the future by using his past.)
I HATE JORGE (how much more obvious can he get--a turtle? I think Regina would probably prefer the chocolate kind.)
I HATE JULIA RIGHT NOW (by believing herself confused, she's confusing everyone else around her, especially Artie.)
I HATE NINA NOT SO MUCH (her deductive reasoning is a little false, but she calls it the way she sees it. I wouldn't want my rival moving into my house either.)
I HATE CARIDAD NOT SO MLUCH (she did her damage, complicated things for Eladio, Julia, Gaby, David and Franco. If she believes she has a chance with Eladio, then she's a little bit of a dimwit and I can't blame her.)
I HATE THAT I NOW ENJOY WATCHING HUMBERTO'S HIJINKS (may his oxygen tank fall off his wheel chair, it tips over in a pool taking him with it and Julia has to watch.)
I HATE MARINTIA FOR WHAT SHE AND CARIDAD ARE PROBABLY GOING TO DO (may her bebe live, but the bebe can't get a passport to get back to Mexico any time soon)
I HATE THAT DAVID IS BEING SUCH A LOVING PRICK (oh, yes, he loves Regina, but he didn't even see The Kiss and admits it to his mother.)
I HATE ASSMORE, JUST BECAUSE (and I bet he's the prestanombres)
I HATE JUSTINO, CLARA AND LUISITA FOR TAKING UP VALUABLE AIRSPACE (Ok, maybe Clara is useful as a caring friend for Consuelo, when she needs it.)
I HATE REGINA AND DANI TEAMING UP (and they believing it, to support poor Mommie Dearest)
Sorry, I'm just exuding hate right now. Sorry, sorry. Now I'll read the comments. Maybe it will make me feel better! HA!
Thanks for the recap. Like many others, love the phrase .."and she hurries away with a brisk clatter of heels down the hallway" ... Reads like a classic line from a novel AND it seems to fit the spiky heels Julia typically wears. No flats for these women regardless of the terrain.
Anywho, to the patio peeps, I remain at the table with the psychologists and the tattoo artists as mentioned before. The shrinkies have been shaking their head lately with all of the recent activities of our favorite families. Today, they have their copies of "Healthy boundaries and how to draw the line"(comes with free chalk) and "Listen before you leap". Copies available for loan.
Mena
-- Turning Angeles in to Arturo
-- Finding out who her parents are/were
-- Getting a promotion at GM
She can do better than Justino.
Nina is jumping to this conclusion about Julia because this is what she would be doing in her place. That is how a narcissist's mind works.
Both Julia and Caridad are desperate for love. Caridad may be more aware of that than Julia, who at least has a loving sister, niece, and son. Caridad's mother was useless and she has no other family of origin. All we know about the husband she killed defending Franco is that he left for the US to find work and was gone for five years. I don't recall any other information about him.
P.S. I didn't see it, but didn't what's her name, Acacia, in La Malquerida walk away alone?
"...ASSMORE... (and I bet he's the prestanombres)"
Oh how much I hope you're right about that. I saw such a thing happen first hand. A Dr. I met early on in my career did just that by signing over shares in a hospital partnership to a presumed friend and fellow Dr. to shield them from his wife in a divorce proceeding. The result was predictable and hilarious poetic justice.
Carlos
In Fuego en la Sangre, the sisters opened a small shop that the patio peeps liked to refer to as Crap from Afar . If you decide to open a P y P boutique, do not forget to stock ties , skanky dresses, nursing bras, BIG necklaces, pocket hankies, oxygen, nuts and bolts.
I'm sure your Hotel recap is splendid. I'm always several days behind on that one, so I will have to wait a few days (or weeks) to read your story. You are, as always, much too generous with me. (No Belgian waffle, you!) Thank you!
So that's quite a list there, my friend. I learned a new adjective in Spanish class today: iracundo/a. WordReference defines it as "irritable, irascible, cantankarous." Now why in the world would that come to mind just now???
About the prestanombres – don't we already know it's Miguel? With some holdings in Agustín's name too? Or did I misunderstand that part?
Your entrepreneurial fervor always brings so much to The Patio. I so wish I could shop at the P&P...
"Healthy boundaries and how to draw the line"(comes with free chalk)
Hahahaha! Those shrinks – always looking to make an extra buck!
"...wouldn't it be interesting if Julia suddenly died?"
Have you been hanging out with Steve Boudreaux at the I Hope They Die Table?
Carlos
"Oh my, Carlos. Oh my."
Please excuse me NovelaMaven and Steve, I was feeling a bit iracundo.
Carlos
Eladio might commit suicide whether or not he would be in any way at fault.
Arturo might sink into depression again, except worse this time.
Gabriela would be devastated because this would occur after she finds out what a cad Franco is.
Do we even care how Humberto would feel?
Yikes, Urban. Given those possibilities, well ... L'CHAIM, JULIA!
Since you started it (or maybe Steve did), why not open up an I Hope They Die Table and those who wish to participate drop by, have a drink, and choose one person in this TN whom they'd like to have die (and why)?
Carlos
How about a Scotch sour? You know, getting ready for Outlander. But have you considered carefully? Don't forget how great Erick looks in those tight jeans. Could I offer you a Miguel instead?
Carlos
Thanks so much for the entertaining and informative recap. Your style of writing amazes me. Of course the whole team is awesome.
I need to go back in time and thank Mauricio for last Friday's recap, and for helping us out on Monday. Cynderella, I also hope that you and your mother are doing fine. I pray for a quick recovery. And Urban, what can I say? Tuesday's recap was another slam dunk. I have only attempted to translate one or two conversations. You, my dear are the queen of dialogue.
Thank you to all of the PyP team for all of your hard work.
Hasta Pronto
It works beautifully and you get a nice soft glow at the same time!
Loved your Pepto-Bismol remark about Regina.....hope she can get her brain synchronized soon where David is concerned. The turtle from Jorge would be lovely as a pate on toast from Regina at Nina's next cocktail party. Poor turtle!
Julia makes my heart break. To see that she's never had a chance to "find herself" so far and also know that this is the plight of many women, though becoming less so, at least in the U.S. Male dominance is inherent but augmentation really set in when women had to depend on men for their survival way back when, i.e., no way to support themselves. I hate to think how awful it was when women were treated as chattel.

You are very kind. Thank you. And I hope Consuelo reads your comment and is able to follow your advice. (Though I do hope the poor turtle gets a reprieve!)
Whatever may be happening in the world at large, machismo is alive and well in the TN world even when the writers are trying to be politically correct. Sigh.
On Clara spying on Angeles: I hope she does rat the spy out. But having been feeling Clara will be in danger too!
