Pasion y Poder #100 Franco was Having the Greatest Most Bestest Most Evilest Day of His Life Until......

The hospital staff tell Erick that he can't have the baby until he produces an ID and birth certificate.  He calls the family and informs him that the baby has been found.  Consuelo grabs the phone and wants to know the details.  Everyone runs to the hospital, but Nina tells Miguel to stay back.  Gina grabs him and pulls him towards the door.  Art stays behind when he gets a call from Julia.

The family runs into the reception area and Connie wants to know how the baby's doing.  When Erick sees Miguel, he tries to go after him, but Art breaks it up.  The doctor will not release the baby until he sees some ID.  There is an Amber Alert out on that baby.  Connie sends Clara home to get her ID and the birth certificate.  The doctor says that the baby is dehydrated.  Nina asks Erick what happened to the jewelry and cash.  Erick says that the kidnappers were willing to discount the price because a sick baby is a worthless baby.  The doctor brings out the baby and places it in Connie's arms.  Nina tells Connie that the baby is coming home with them since it was kidnapped under Connie's watch.  Erick agrees.  Connie and Erick blame each other.  Finally, Connie begs Art to let her take the baby home with her.  Who will feed the baby and keep it alive?  Petra can't clean the house and watch the baby.  Art says that they will get a body guard.  The baby will stay with Connie.

Later, Dani visits the baby at Connie's apartment.  She tells Connie that she's never liked the baby, but once it was gone, she missed it.  She asks to hold it and asks is she can visit it more often.  Connie says yes.  Later Jorge and Gina stop by.  Gina is starts whining about Dave...whatever.  Connie bitches about Erick...whatever.

Anyways, Humberto is in a great mood today.  He rolls into the living room on his hover board and shows Julia his tablet.  TMZ reported that Franco is the spawn of Eladio and Caridad.  Eladio has that hussy working for him.  Julia tells Humberto that Eladio gave Caridad a pink slip.  She tells Humberto to stop pointing out the faults of both Art and Eladio.

Gaby and Franco come back from picking up her parents ashes or something like that. Humberto says that it's too bad that Dave and Eladio have better things to do and left Franco to deal with the ashes and the women.  Anyways, Julia tells Gaby that she found some old photos of her incredibly good-looking sister before she and her handsome husband adopted Gaby (hee hee...you see what I did there?)  While Julia and Gaby are off looking at the photos, Humberto tells Franco to keep his mitts off of the shoe factory.  Eladio will run it.  Franco grabs Humberto and reminds him that Gaby is the sole heir to the shoe factory and she has determined that Franco will run it because he is her husband.  Humberto tells Franco that life will eventually put him in his place.  Franco agrees because he deserves more and will be on top.  He is a Gomez-Luna.

When Gaby returns, Franco tells Gaby that he's leaving and blames Humberto.  The camera pans to Humberto and Julia who are inspecting the photos and comparing them to Gaby. Humberto appears skeptical and he too is convinced that Gaby is adopted.  Once Franco is gone, Gaby wants to know what Humberto did to Franco.  Humberto gives Gaby the evil eye.  Gaby leaves after she receives a text from her stalker, Auggie.

Julia asks Humberto when he will accept Franco.  Humberto tells Julia that Franco is now in charge of the shoe factory.  Julia says that Gaby's choice makes sense because Franco is her husband.  Humberto calls Julia and Eladio idiots for allowing Franco into their lives.  He says that Franco is slowing taking over everything.  Julia tells Humberto to shut it.  She beginning to think that he's trying to manipulate her again.

Across town, in the waiting room of wasted acting talent and stupid story lines.  Miguel is suspicious of the kidnapping.  Miguel asks why the kidnappers took the baby from Connie, and then called Erick.  How did that know his phone number?  Also, why did that have a fire sale on the baby?  Auggie also agrees that a sick baby is worthless...whatever.

Over at the Montenegro Mansion Nina and Erick are plotting against their spouses.  Nina says that Art was mean to her.  She now wants to divorce him and boot him out of his family estate.  Erick says that he will support her.  Erick says that he wants baby Erick to stay with him and Nina.  Nina says that the kidnapping will give them the upper hand against Connie.  Nina runs off to tell her friend the judge that baby Erick was kidnapped while in Connie's possession.  Erick picks up his cell phone and confirms that the jewells were fenced.  He tells them to send the cash to his account.  He's and idiot.  That's how Augie caught him embezzling money the first time.

Over at GLA, Franco gives Eladio a tablet with Connie's TMZ interview.  Franco says that Caridad when from man-stealing homewreckin' hussy, to murderer and back to victim after her interview.  There's no reason for him to fire her now.  Eladio tells Franco to shut up.  Caridad walks in on the two and tells Franco that she "did it for him".  Eladio tells Caridad not to clean out her desk just yet.

Jorge and Gina are walking through the park.  I missed what was said because I don't care about the two of them.  Sorry.

Anyways, after Franco leaves Eladio's office, he returns to his glorified glass cubicle called an office and tells someone that he wife will put the shoe factory in his name.  Franco hangs up and is congratulating himself on how great his evil plans are going.  He beat of an old man, manipulated his grieving wife, lied to his parents, stole some money and kicked a kitten.  His day cannot get better....well until little Franco (and I'm not talking about the francofurter) pops up...in Marintia's arms.  Franco tells her to get out.  Marintia tells Franco that she's broke and needs some cash.  He will also need to pay for her hospital bills.  If he doesn't, she's going to tell Gaby, that this baby is his.  Oops, Dani, who is standing outside of the glorified glass cubicle has heard the entire conversation.  Oh yes, baby Franco's name is Mateo.

Franco tells Marintia to step out of his office and to take is spawn with her.  Anyways, Dani is there to inform Franco that she has a date with his idiot half brother.  Yes, Dave took a stupid pill and asked Dani to dinner.  He's going to watch her photo shoot and then they are going out afterwards.  Yes, the way back into a woman's heart is to date her sister.  Somebody shoot him for me.  He's too stupid to live.  This has Dani's gonna get pregnant  or fake a pregnancy written all over it.  Dani tells Franco that his secret is safe for now, but she will definitely use it to blackmail him later.  Dani doesn't know why Franco wants her to date Dave, but his plan is great for her.  After Dani leaves, Franco tells Marintia that Dani knows about the baby.  Maritina says that she will blackmail him too if he doesn't come up with some cash for her and the baby.  Oh yeah, and she tells him that she loves him.  Franco tells her to go home.  She'll have all the cash that she needs.

Dani runs into Eladio on the way to the photo shoot and tells him that the baby has been found.  Eladio tells her that Art accused him of kidnapping the baby.  Dani tells Eladio that she defended him to her father.  Dani also says that Art has lost his marbles and of course, Eladio agrees with her.

Julia calls Art for news of the baby.  Art tells her that baby has been found and is safe.  He wants Julia to come over and comfort him.  He thinks that nobody at his house and no one who watches the telenovela likes him.  And of course, I agree with him.

Gaby brings Julia a tablet with the Caridad TMZ interview.  Gaby understands why Julia is pissed at Eladio.  Gaby says that she would never, ever, ever forgive Franco.  Julia says that it will never to happy to Gaby because she deserves to be happy.  Julia reads the article and now wants to talk to Caridad.  She thinks if she learns the truth, she might be able to forgive Eladio.

Nina tells Franny that Connie and Erick are not eligible for a no-fault divorce in Mexico City.  They married in the county, so they have to have a long-drawn out divorce that I'm bored with.  Get on with it already.  Anyway two-faced Nina tells Franny that she wants Erick to divorce Connie and get sole custody.  She's helping him.

Marintia goes off on Caridad.  She wants to know why Caridad told her to return to Mexico if she's unemployed and has no money.  They both can't be broke.  Caridad calls Eladio.  Eladio enters the home wearing his shades.  He's having a horrible love hangover, unfortunately, he can't drink the hair of the dog that bit him.  Marintia wants to introduce Eladio to Mateo, but Eladio is not impressed.  He tells Marintia that he will pay her bill and give her cash, but she must return to Buenos Aires and NEVER come back.  Caridad will work away from the public and continue to support her.  Marintia says that she doesn't want to go.  Eladio insists.

Pedro the kidnapper calls and tells Erick that he wants his cash.  Apparently, he did not agree that sick babies should be discounted.  Erick's half of the booty can be discounted, but he expects his full crime-rate.  Erick assures him that he will get his money.  Erick is happy when he finds his money in a "tax haven" account.

Callao comes into Caridad's home and tells Eladio that paps have surrounded the house.  They are trying to get a shot of Caridad.  Caridad sacrifices herself and tells Eladio that she will go for a walk so that they will follow her.  Eladio can sneak out.  Eladio thinks it's a great idea, but warns her not to talk to the paps.

Dave attends the photo shoot and is clearly (or not clearly...you choose) thinking with his penis.  He thinks Dani looks great and feels very uncomfortable about watching her pose in a bikini.

Nina stops by Connie's house to discuss plans for the baptism.

Art and Auggie discuss how there is an investigation into who is the office snitch.  The secretary...I forgot her name hears it and drops the coffee.

Julia spots Eladio sneaking out of the Caridad's house.  She calls Art and asks him where he wants to meet.

Thank you everyone for you kind words. My mother is doing well and can get around by herself now. You all are awesome!

Cynderella: Thank you for the recap!

1.) Erick still going to get sole custody of Jr.,

2.) Connie & Miguel need to LEAVE the country & never come back!

3.) I'm loving everyone bashing Caridad, who's more STUPID than we originally thought!

4.) "TMZ Mexico City" ROFLOL!

5.) Angeles better be worried because Arturo & Augie are close to figuring it was her, who sold out to the GLA!

6.) Dani telling Connie that she never liked Jr.,: NOT shocked!

7.) David going to do something very stupid & sleeping with Dani again!

8.) Callao's back HORRAY!

9.) Gaby is adopted HMMM. Who are her biological parents ?

10.) I was hoping Franco would whack Old Goat Humberto already. What's taking him so long ?

11.) Kirby: Erick will NEVER exposed ever!

12.) Does anyone else think that Regina is being conned by Jorge ?

13.) Where are Clara, Justino & Maribel ?

Cynderella, your sensational sass has been sorely missed. Fantastic - title to finish.

So happy you are back and that your mother is doing well.

"Humberto appears skeptical and he too is convinced that Gaby is adopted", "in the waiting room of wasted acting talent and stupid story lines" and "glorified glass cubicle" were among my favorites.

"She tells Connie that she's never liked the baby, but once it was gone, she missed it". How kind and caring of Dani! What a sweet, sensitive soul. Gag.

"Caridad will work away from the public and continue to support her". How generous Eladio is – “allowing” Caridad (who appears to be on the fringes of poverty) to support HIS grandchild. How magnanimous. Sorry, Arturo is looking better by the minute.

I think Erick may have fooled most (astonishingly) but Eladio looked as though he smelled a dead rat (another one...) I'm shocked and disappointed he seems to have gotten away with this.

Yes, David is beyond idiotic to have anything to do with Dani. I'm sure Julia will run to Arturo when she (wrongly) senses Eladio and Caridad have something going on. Bad decisions run rampant in this family, don't they?

Diana

Arturo looked as though he smelled a dead rat...

Thank You Cynderella for something sweet and sour to go perfectly with my morning coffee. And and other thing, You are awesome. So many clever lines.

Erick the Dork, oops my i/o and r/c keys are messed up . Anyway, we will just call him ED from the verb for now,(thanks egg sandwich stealer) is going to get caught. If there are two people on the show who have half functional brains, it is Auggie and Miggy.

And they are both onto ED. He and Purple Lips, (plastic butt) are just too dam dumb to pull off an operation this complicated, involving this many other dumb people. They didn't plan for contingencies, and they failed to think out the logistics. Auggie and computer boy will figure them out. Then not even a handfull of Viagra will fix Mr. ED. Sorry Mr Boudreaux. OT: Our real life Erik is digging some plastic in the trunk these days according to an email.

"8.) Callao's back HORRAY!" Too funny. OK let the slaughtering begin, right?

Even a professional henchman needs a relaxing vaca every now and then. All that stabbing, sawing, shooting, and slicing wears a fellow out right Callao?

Gracias, Cynderella, and that's great news about your mother.

It looks like Marintia wants to bleed both Franco and Eladio and I'm sure that won't be enough for her. And if Gaby does put the shoe factory in Franco's name she's a bigger idiot than she looks like. If she wants to make him CEO on a salary that would make some sense, but she should get the lion's share of the profits.

Arturo, Miguel, and Augustin need to get together and connect the dots on the kidnapping. Adding Consuelo and Clara to that meeting wouldn't hurt, either. There is a timeline that needs to be clarified:

-- Erick dismisses the "security guard"
-- Baby is kidnapped in the park during the distraction
-- Consuelo and Clara go to police station
-- Ransom call is made to the mansion
-- Erick gets call from "kidnapper"
-- Family gets together in mansion; Arturo calls Augustin about ransom money
-- Erick gets call from "kidnapper", which he takes in another room
-- Baby is taken to hospital by the nurse who has fake names for both the baby and his sperm donor
-- Nurse calls Erick about the baby being sick; he does nothing
-- Augustin delivers briefcase of cash to mansion; Nina gets her jewelry out of the safe; Erick and Arturo disagree over who negotiates
-- Erick gets the dropoff call (which is likely to have been fake)
-- Erick leaves mansion with cash and jewelry
-- Hospital receives Amber Alert notice
-- Erick arrives at hospital and is told about Amber Alert
-- Erick calls the mansion to say the baby is in the hospital

How many episodes should this take?

Kirbo, good one on ED, who should definitely suffer ED for the rest of his life for using his baby this way. As to your criticism of the situation, Nina was not involved in the fake kidnapping, nor would she have approved the the scheme because he's not smart enough to pull it off.

More later.

Golly you are so funny Cynderella. Thanks for the giggle this morning.

At least Daniela wants David and willing to pursue despite the family squabbles. She will not be denied and hopes she gets her man.

Thanks, Cynderella. Hilarious recap. Glad to hear your mom is recovering.

Let's see a couple of people know about Franco's baby and secrets don't last long here. Plus, Marintia brings the baby to office, and surely this will get the workers gossiping. Dare I hope that Gaby finds out soonest?

Is there any chance that Gaby is Eladio's daughter that he had with Julia's sister? Although it that were true, then Gaby and Franco would be half brother/half sister/

Niecie, there is no doubt that this secret will not last. Daniela is never one to keep secrets that don't involve herself or her stupid brother. Not to mention that Caridad often doesn't understand the phrase sotto voce.

Tofie, Daniela does not truly want David for himself; she is only doing this to get one up on Regina so she can boast of being the better woman.

Cynderella, Franco's "glorified cubicle" is a huge improvement over the "open plan" office environment at my last place where there weren't even any cubicle walls. The glass wall and door at least allow the occupant to shut out noise.

Gobluefan, if Gaby and Franco were related that way I doubt Eladio would have allowed the marriage although he'd have had a hard time explaining the reason.

I can always recognize a Cynderella recap because I'm laughing so much.

Marintia is such a leech. How on earth will she manage to raise her baby if she doesn't get someone to support her? It's not like she's young and healthy and perfectly capable of working!!!

I was so annoyed that one certain chimp got away with everything. It'll take a long time before he gets exposed, I'm sure!

Still rooting for Dani even though I know she and David have no shot.

-Annie

Oh, Cyn, your reportage on Sin City is always singularly entertaining. Glad your mom is better and you can pay attention to Eladio and Arturo.

Niece--Marintia told the office curios that the baby daddy is an Argentine and she left him back there to come visit her old haunts. But you and UA are right, with Caridad and Dani also knowing (besides Eladio), it won't be a secret for very long. Especially if either of them decide to draw up blackmail plans.

One thing we skipped over--and I didn't understand--was Erick on the phone with someone about a project that he's bringing to his dad very soon. Angeles tells Franco about it. He pays her but wants more information. That's one of the things I thought Artie and Auggie were discussing in the office, but maybe not. I heard them saying they were still investigating the leak and sooner or later would find it.

Either David is incredibly stupid or incredibly smart. Maybe he thought he could provoke some jealousy in Regina by having her see him with Dani. After all she's spending Sundays in the park with George. My personal opinion is he's incredibly stupid, but we did see him hesitate before once or twice before going over to her. She had on an incredibly tight dress.

The bombshell will be that Julia saw Eladio in Shades leave Caridad's place. So now she knows for sure he's still "into" her. Poor dear. Is there anything that can give her a modicum of happiness for more that a scene or two? At least she's finding the strength to tell Hummy to shut up.

I meant Marintia and Dani drawing up blackmail plans. (My house is cold, my hands are cold, my brain is cold--it's Spring and I turned off the heat.)

I don't think Daniela knows how dangerous Franco might be. Her Karmageddon might be to be murdered by him during sex in a sleazy motel (like Ruth in FELS). I'm sure Danilo Carrera might be salivating over doing a scene like that.

As to the project that Erick is "working" on I'm going to guess that it's a scheme to scam money out of the company before Nina's plans to fleece Arturo can move much more forward. Here's hoping that Arturo and Augustine's BS detectors are working.

Amazing recap!

So much stupidity, so much more time left!!

I wonder how Nina will feel when she finds out Erick is behind the kidnapping and kept some of the money! The fact that his mother is fully behind him and yet he screws her over for money. Funny enough I can see Nina receiving the same fate as Ratt from the hands of Erick. Would be fitting.

Oh Julia, stop assuming and ask a question every now and then.

Agree that Dani has no idea how dangerous Franco is. For that matter, not sure Mari does either. She thinks she has him under her thumb but he has so few feelings that losing his child won't matter to him, which makes her expendable too.

Reg and David are sooo boring now.

Die Erick Die! Sooner rather than later please.

I counter that it is Regina that doesn't love David for himself but for the ego boosting Regina worship he offered. No way David can compete with any new guy begging at her feet much less one that has for over a decade. Once Jorge popped in it wasn't long before David was history and watch out, Jorge is one adoring hot guy away from being on the trash heap himself.

Nina would definitely be angry with Erick or I should say "will" because this is not something the writers would dare let him get away with by not revealing it no matter what else he does during the remaining episodes.

Erick killing Nina? Not that this series can't potentially go that way but that would put him in a manicomio or cause him to off himself afterward (a la Oedipus Rex, in view of the non-boundaries between him and Nina) and neither death nor madness should become a refuge for him. He deserves to be in prison where the rest of his life will be unending humiliation for what he's done or attempted to do to his family. Ad seg might be the best possible solution if it's done in a way that prevents him committing suicide.

Tofie, that is so not Regina. What ego she has is based on her intellect and capabilities.

Women who are lambasted by their mothers for being less than adequate as women almost never stop doubting themselves even when they know their mothers are trying to keep them down via criticism and consistently queening their own perceived superiority. The most sincere men can't cure this and even several years with a shrink is often inadequate. In Regina's case there are also Daniela and (to a lesser extent so far) Erick to contribute to her problem.

If Daniela ends up dead, it's either going to be drug overdose (brought on by Ashmore) or Franco tricking her in a hotel escapade!

On Erick: he'll find a way to permanently get rid of Connie & Miguel by having both of them WHACKED!

Boy did blogpolice ever screw up my comment. Here goes again:

UA, you made me think of something else by your comment of the non-boundaries that exist between Erick and Nina. While they were plotting their future on the couch, Erick couldn't wait until it was just him and Nina in the house raising baby Erick. Is that gross or not.

Regina toyed with David, breaking up and taking him back multiple times always with a smile as she would gut him. It was for her amusement and David fool enough not to get the hint and stop allowing her to kick him. Regina returned an engagement ring to David right in front of Jorge twice with a smirk. She is not some poor pitiful wounded soul to do that but someone that does it because she can and will again and again and again because it makes her feel better.

Cynderella,

Thanks for another of your remarkably unique hilarious recaps. I'm so glad that your mom is recovering and things are getting back to normal for you. What a good attentive daughter you are.

Erick's project is the development of hotels in the Mayan Riviera which apparently endangers some mangrove swamps. Almost certainly illegal and sounds to me like he is doing this to scam money from his dad's business.

I'm floored that he came out of the hospital smelling like a rose. At our hospital here in Texas, the cops would have been swarming all over that hospital and it would have taken more than identification and a birth certificate to sort things out. I don't know the statistics, but I'd imagine that most abductions of infants and small children involve relatives and more specifically the non-custodial parent.

Carlos

The big problem was that the naive nurse just left, so Erick could then lie about how the baby got to be there and since the hospital staff apparently didn't know the lies he told the nurse, they couldn't expose him either.

Anita, that is gross. I strongly doubt that anything of the full Oedipal nature has ever actually happened between them but there is definitely something unconscious going on there. Narcissistic mothers often gravitate toward their sons regardless of what they look or behave like because they are not competition, as daughters can be. While Nina favors Daniela over Regina because she is her Mini-Me there could (theoretically) come a day when she won't like having to cede Beauty Queen status to her. Growing older is a female narcissist's worst hell.

Tofie, I must dispute this. Regina doesn't take pleasure in others' pain like her mother does. She is looking to protect herself and she also made a point here. She is in an impossible situation with parental pressure on the one hand and her own feelings on the other. She doesn't want to deal with either.

Thanks to the treatment she got from Nina since childhood she feels inadequate as a woman and Daniela is all too eager to prove her own self-perceived superiority. Regina's academic intelligence and career success is important to her in its own right, which is what got her Arturo's approval and support. Note how it is completely irrelevant to Nina. While they aren't arguing about this in front of us, don't think that Regina's career ambitions -- which define who she is -- aren't a slap in the face to a mother who wanted a clone rather than a daughter.

Carlos, knowing how under-reported kidnapping probably is in Mexico, we have no way of knowing this, but you are probably right. Children are also often used as pawns in ugly divorces when they're small and can be manipulated into becoming accomplices when they're older.

UA,

I find it incredible that there was no police presence at the hospital in light of the fact that an Amber Alert had been issued. Perhaps the Montenegro name had something to do with the way it all turned out, but I would have at least expected the police to sign off on it.

I think that it's notable that Nina seemed much more relieved that her grandson was safe than disturbed that her jewelry was irretrievably gone.

Carlos

I agree about the Amber Alert situation. Arturo showing up at the hospital may have had something to do with there not being a further investigation. However, I don't think this will be the end of it because more than one person has had the thousand-yard stare over it.

Nina's relief at the baby's safety is about future control of his inheritance. The jewelry meant nothing to her anymore because the victory she felt in receiving it as tokens of Arturo's love is long past, as he has bought nothing new in the way of jewelry since the start of the opening episode. Nothing she was ever seen wearing was valuable and all of it looked cheap as well.

I think she will be very angry when she learns the truth about its disposition because it means that her precious son has scammed her. Not making any guesses yet on whether she will turn on him or let him off the hook again.

That was so funny...thanks Cynder-rellie (in my Disney mouse voice)I loved reading every bit of that! I stand by my comment last week. Everyone is annoying me for whatever reason. As sucky as Franco is, he is correct! Ever since Caridad came into the picture - everything has gone wrong she cannot keep her big mouth shut! I will admit that she looks better, but not by much and she's ruining my 'sick desire' for Eladio and Julia to get back together.

As much as it sickens me that Miguel pursuing his brothers wife, I don't feel sorry that Dani is pursuing David (anymore) because Regina is stupid! That boy is FINE!

She's Bacckk! I always get a giggle out of your snappy snark. So glad that your mother is better. Have you noticed the lack of prepositions in this novela? Nobody is bunnyhopping.

I think the conversation in the park between Regina and her puppy Jorge went something like this...

Jorge : "How's the turtle?"

Regina : " He was DELICIOUS ! "

Regina, you are not the first person to throw over a good guy and then have to watch someone else grab him up.

Erick..what a fine Lad stealing his mother's jewelry. It's lucky the baby did not have any Candy because....well, you know who would take it.

Hmm.. Gaby inherited a shoe factory. Where to begin? If the shoe fits , wear it. There's no business like shoe business. By the end of this novela, Auggie , the guy with actual working brain cells will be running that factory and turning out sandals and heels by the millions.

Ol Humbug knows everything about everything. Yes..that's why be can't support himself and is always exploiting and selling his daughter to the highest bidder.

Anita..high 60s here today and warmer tomorrow, but then down to the 50s again. My crocuses and daffodils are pushing up and the forsythia is getting ready to bloom soon.

I've watched this show since the first night and I have yet to see scenes of Nina lording it over Regina, Nina hating Regina, Nina putting down Regina, etc.

The only real (negative) interaction we've seen between Nina & Regina is when Nina was trying to force Regina to marry Joshua. Other than that, we haven't seen any evidence of Nina hating, despising or putting down Regina.

We haven't even seen Nina discouraging or trying to force Regina not to work. All of their interactions have been pleasant.

Yes, we did see Nina discourage Regina from dating Jorge but I would think most wealthy families would discourage their children from dating children of the help. I doubt seriously Eladio & Julia would be happy if David started dating Simona's daughter/granddaughter or if Gaby started dating Justino.

I have also not seen any evidence that Regina enjoys hurting David. I think Regina makes herself out to be a martyr in many situations because of Nina's favoritism towards Erick & Daniela but just because Nina favors Erick & Daniela doesn't mean Nina despises/hates/merely tolerates Regina.

Valid point about Nina not wanting Regina to date Jorge. That is normal and would still be her normal if they didn't live in a mansion.

Somewhere in the early episodes she said to someone "I don't understand Regina; she's nothing like me." This is the classic evidence of a narcissistic mother who doesn't get that a same-sex child isn't guaranteed to be exactly like the parent. She doesn't get it because it interferes with her notion of reality and her senses of entitlement.

The other negative interactions were about Nina attempting to gaslight Regina about the kiss in the hospital cafeteria. She bought Daniela's version of that incident and refused to listen to Regina's. She insisted that Regina didn't see what she saw when Nina herself was not even there. This came up more than once and it was later said that there is a track record of all this. Nina always took Daniela's side against Regina.

I have walked some distance in Regina's shoes. I had a narcissistic mother and a worthless brother whom my mother adored. Fortunately I didn't have a sister.

Cyn, thanks for the wonderful recap. So happy your mom is better..

UA, "Nothing she was ever seen wearing was valuable and all of it looked cheap as well." Doesn't that prove my point that Nina has never been that materialistic, her priority has always been the health and wellbeing of her children. Wealthy women rarely wear cheap jewelry. Parenting is an extremely trying and difficult job and we all make mistakes, Nina is no different than many of us who wish we had handled our children differently. There have been no scenes of Nina as the neglectful, selfish mom of babies, toddlers or small children.

I blame Regina for her cruel dismissive behavior toward David, she had a much better environment than many, for example Consuelo. Viewerville can blame parenting just so much for Regina's attitude, but I blame her, just as I take responsibility for my mistakes, not look backwards to my parents.

Note to self: Do not read Cynderella recaps in public, people tend to stare! Thank you for the laughter, Cynderella! Your zingers were so zingy, I made a spectacle of myself. Happy to hear that your mom is feeling better and recovering nicely from her surgery. Sending positive vibes your way. Abrazos para las dos.

I won't comment on the action, I just wanted to point out that the Amber Alert sheet said that Baby Erick is 5 months old, 0.65 meters tall and he weighs 2.93 kilograms. I don't know much about babies but a quick Foogle search tells me that, although the height seems accurate, Little Koko is at least 4 kilos underweight. I know that Consuelo is a skinny minnie and her breast milk stopped but come on! Someone feed that baby!

I think the production team made a mistake here. I mean, have Julia and Eladio been separated for 5 months? (Their "I know Franco is your son" scene in the GL study happened when Consuelo had just given birth). The issue with the salaries of the GL mansion staff had me thinking that Julia and Eladio were separated for 1 to 2 months max. I concluded this when Callao went to Eladio's office to get the cash envelope to pay the mansion employees and Eladio said that he'd like to do it himself this time (as an excuse to go to the house and make sad puppy eyes at Julia). This made me think that there was at least one previous instance where Callao paid the employees himself post-separation. Therefore, depending on whether the mansion employees receive their salaries fortnightly or monthly, the Gómez-Luna couple has been separated for 1 to 2 months at the very least. The birth and healh issues of the Mouthbreather baby corroborated my timeline but Baby Erickcito's description on the Amber Alert sheet threw me off.

Thanks to all the recappers for their wonderful work over the past few episodes. The comments were great too. I'm having a fun time lurking. Hasta luego!

On the jewelry question, Erick seemingly got a lot of money for the fenced jewelry, so therefore it must have been expensive.

While not a Nina fan (yes, I see her as shallow and self-centered) most parents struggle with understanding a child who is markedly different from them in outlook, character and goals. Empathy is always a stretch and it's easier if you have an intuitive understanding of the other person, based on similarities. I have three children, the one I understand the least is the one who said to me once, "My boyfriend and I have similar values." " What are those?" I asked. "We both eventually want a home on a lake."

You see my point. I have to work to understand that particular child. But I love her with all my heart and bleed when she bleeds. But understanding takes effort.

Now..for that saucy pure Cynderella recap.

Also, why did that have a fire sale on the baby?

That just cracked me up. As did your delight is Franco's all-out badness and poor Gaby's all out unattractiveness. As a card-carrying, board-certified Nice Person, I shouldn't find those jibes funny but I sure do.

And very happy that your Mom is doing better, Cynderella. I imagine that she is a strong woman like her daughter, capable of surviving many setbacks that these wussy telenovela characters could not.

Many thanks crazy lady.

Oh and Susanlynn...seems I'm desperately needing distraction at the moment, I did download Outlander Book I onto my Kindle and amen lady! it does the job. I forget all about family woes for a while, thoroughly immersed in 18th century Scotland, land of saucy women and rascally muscular men! Woo hoo....

Anon207 "I've watched this show since the first night and I have yet to see scenes of Nina lording it over Regina, Nina hating Regina, Nina putting down Regina, etc." I agree. The differences among parents and children in the Montenegro family are seen daily in normal families. There is always an undercurrent of conflicting ideas and formed alliances between family members. What I have seen with the Montenegros is no different than what plays out at the average family Thanksgiving dinner in America. I agree JudyB I can see the shallow, self centered, even too social qualities in Nina, but not a bad neglectful mother.

Cynderella! It's so great to have you back! My favorite line: "Yes, the way back into a woman's heart is to date her sister. Somebody shoot him for me. He's too stupid to live. This has Dani's gonna get pregnant or fake a pregnancy written all over it."

Yes! Couldn't agree more! David could have any other beautiful girl for a rebound and he has to choose his ex's sister?! Come on! This is a beanie storyline for sure. The writers are making his character this stupid because there's no way that in real life and intelligent, educated, and decent man like David would even think about dating Dani again.

I'm so disgusted with how easily Erick got away with the kidnapping. So he has literally gotten away with murder and kidnapping now.

Angeles (Arturo's secretary) is the obvious office snitch, I really hope Auggie figures that out soon.

Loving all the comments today and thank you again Cyderella for the awesome recap!

One of the things that most visitors to this blog have been most shocked by was the abject cruelty of Veronica of PEAM, Gala of Refugio, and Isabela of MCET toward young children. Until PEAM I hadn't see that either, but this is what the Gabriela Elizondos, Ursula Santibanezes, Josefa Cabreras, and Nina Montenegros were like when their children were still children.

Children can sense favoritism and contempt when they're very young. Nina's abject hatred of Miguel because he is not of her DNA points to one of the signs of her narcissism. To say that she piggybacked onto Arturo's hatred of him because she said so is not evidence; most narcissists rewrite history and can be very convincing. Arturo's feelings about Miguel would be complicated because of the circumstances of his conception and birth and what both did to Arturo's planned future. His guilty feelings about that made him vulnerable to questioning his own feelings.

If Nina were such a loving mother, how could she marry a man who hated his own child? Wouldn't that be a major red flag? But she had three children in what looks like fairly rapid succession to insure her place as Arturo's wife. She also had nannies and took limited day to day responsibility for her children, maybe no more than an hour a day. Again, I don't fault her over having nannies but I do fault her for her blatant favoritism, her contemptuous treatment of Miguel, and her refusal to accept Regina as she is.

UA, yes, there have really terrible mothers and fathers in novelas. Those of us who suffered through Sombra saw a father who raped and constantly licked his future DIL. With PyP I've enjoyed more normal parents who make mistakes but are not murderous! We all know Ninas and Arturos, but not Severinos. The writers haven't given us scenes of neglectful parents, just parents that make normal mistakes. I can't elevate mistakes to the level of the actions in the novelas you mentioned unless I've seen it. Arturo's ill treatment of Miguel if present was a red flag, but young people miss red flags.

OT..Judyb..I am so glad that you are reading Outlander. I guarantee it is an excellent escape mechanism from real life. The author wrote the first book about 25 years ago to see if she could write a novel ! She is fascinating. She has a background in science and has a PHD . She used to teach at Arizona State. Goggle her and also go to Compuserve Outlander for lots of discussions of both the book series and the TV show. Season two is in Paris and if you go to the Starz Outlander site, you can see photos of the beautiful actors and costumes. After I watched season one, I read the whole series of eight books last summer. I was reading all the time..at home, in the car, outside. Jamie ...whataman.

As for kids, I have two. S a teen, my older daughter drove me a little crazy, but now we are very close...even though or maybe because she lives eight hours away by car. She is more like mevthasn her sister. My younger daughter and I were very close when she was little, but now we are very different in our personalities and views. It's a journey I suppose. One needs to just hang in and love them..no matter what.

Not understanding your child doesn't make you narcissistic. It just means you don't love your child. You're just different.

If Nina values using sex and your looks to get you want you want, she's not going to understand Regina using studying & working hard to get you what you want. We just haven't been shown any evidence that Nina does not care for Regina.

I'm pretty sure Arturo doesn't understand Erick or Daniela but he loves them.

Eladio doesn't understand David but he has come to at least respect him (and I think Eladio has come to love David, after finding out for sure that David is his son).

The only parents on this show who have despised their children are:

Eladio with Franco

Franco with Mateo

Erick with Erick Jr.

At the hospital when Coni asked Erick who would take care of Jr. this short conversation ensued with Nina interrupting:

Nina: "Who better than I?"

Arturo (shouting, perturbed): "Look, Nina! For God's sake! You didn't even do it with our own children."

Nina(annoyed): "I did it with Miguel who didn't even carry my blood."

Arturo didn't respond. Instead he turned to Coni who began pleading with him to allow her to take the kid home with her.

It appears to me that there may be more to the early days of their marriage than we are privy to.

Carlos

Anon207,

"Not understanding your child doesn't make you narcissistic. It just means you don't love your child."

I'm pretty sure that you meant:

"Not understanding your child doesn't make you narcissistic. It doesn't mean you don't love your child.

Am I wrong?

Carlos

This is something else as well. Don't know how to say this but, Nina was on call at all times to her husband (if you know what I mean) in order to keep him at home and present with the family. I feel sorry for her to have had to live like that for 25 years. Yes, yes, yes Jorge is attractive, but where was her security, her lovingly given hugs, her husband's devotion and loyalty. I think she sacrificed herself in order to keep Arturo in the family. Maybe she just wanted to sit down and read People en Español some times and not have to ----- to keep Arturo around and happy.

Does anyone else wonder what Arturo and Agustín were whispering to each other about during that hospital scene?

Carlos

Tks Cynderella
This estupidez must be difficult to recap. I fortunately slept through it & woke up just in time for Hotel.

I am trying with all my might to find even one intelligent person in this mierda. So far, no luck. Erick takes 1st prize, however.

Stupid list
easy, Everyone, most of all Jose Alberto Castro & his writers. No wonder Angelica divorced him.

LOL Carlos, yes that's what I meant. I think Nina loves her children, ALL of them. She just doesn't understand Regina. Obviously she doesn't love Miguel, but Miguel isn't her child.

Erick, Regina & Daniela all appear within a year of each other; Erick & Miguel are probably no more than 18-24 months apart. Being that Arturo admittedly was an absentee father I seriously hope Arturo doesn't think Nina was supposed to take care of FOUR small children by herself without any help or nannies.

Actually Sandy, I don't think either Nina or Art were at home and present with the family. Art was always working and, according to Art, Nina had nannies take care of the children while she was out partying and spending money. Just because several of her children are devoted to her doesn't mean she was a present parent. Kids love their parents in despite of so much...

And I don't think Nina was "on call". I think they lived two separate lives and hooked up when they wanted. We have seen Nina use her "charms" on Art to get what she wants so I don't think he feels "entitled" to it, which he would if she was "on call".

Nina never took care of Miguel. She hated him from day one because he isn't "hers." It's easy for her to lie about this because Arturo was a workaholic who wasn't home enough hours to notice what a bad mother she was.

I've said this to people in my face-to-face life: You can't understand a toxic mother if you don't witness the behavior. Too many people can't believe this exists because they don't see examples of it in their own families. And narcissists are very good at concealing this from anyone it suits them to. Nina's had 25 years of practice that we know of.

Nina hates Miguel
Julia doesn't give a shit for Franco
not much difference

UA,

"Nina never took care of Miguel."

She said she did and Arturo didn't deny it.

NEXT!

Carlos

Well if it's a crime not understanding or liking Regina then shoot me.

Carvivlie, Many young mothers use nannies today, that is not considered bad mothering. Anon206, "Erick, Regina & Daniela all appear within a year of each other; Erick & Miguel are probably no more than 18-24 months apart. Being that Arturo admittedly was an absentee father I seriously hope Arturo doesn't think Nina was supposed to take care of FOUR small children by herself without any help or nannies."

The whole premise of Arturo and Nina's marriage is that she used sex to keep him. The writers have made that clear. They "hooked up" when Arturo became distant on multiple times..... then after his re-infactuation with Julia, Nina's efforts didn't work.

The shotgun scatter shot approach of character analysis doesn't work for me. She is nothing like most of the terrible novela mothers that we have been offered lately. Nina isn't a saint, but she isn't a bad mother who doesn't love her children.

The discussion is hotter than the novela.

Kendra..tee hee! Just hope that any lurkers know that the patio respects the viewpoints of others and as in most families, we have many differences of opinion!!

"The discussion is hotter than the novela." Maybe we should disband and move over to the online discussion of Outlander where there is enough bunnyhopping to populate a years worth of novelas........

Late to the party---Cynderella, I'm glad that your mother is mending well. I could tell as you really have your snark back. (Arturo thinks that nobody at his house and no one who watches the telenovela likes him.)

Sandy in TN---Nina has never been materialistic. Really? She had one great shopping spree in New York. I never bought so many things in my life. I don't think that she could have carried another shopping bag and those bags weren't from Macy's.

I read all of todays comments and so many have stated that Nina LOVES Regina. Well I've watched the whole novela also and 9 out of 10 times, Nina would side against Regina. Great love? Yes I would say always siding with Erick and Dani and always going after Regina when she, Regina was trying to help and comfort Consuelo was great love. Trying to shove Regina into a loveless Marriage was also great love. I'll bet Nina would never to try to pull a stunt like that on Daniela.

I don't believe for a minute that Regina gets pleasure out of hurting David or anyone else for that matter. No, not on your life. Regina doesn't want to be the cause of anymore family conflict than they already have and so, for now, David has to go. Stupid David getting back with Dani??? I don't even want to go there. I might say something that will bring the blog police down on me.

Kirbo---Nina plastic butt? What about Daniela in that come get me dress last night?
Is there any plastic in there? Just wondering.

must see tv
the gringo

Cyndarella, this is by far the funniest recap Iv
Ever read. Girl you had me crackin up.
Ive never heard of a disscount kidnapping.
The fact that erick came up with rhat just really badass excuse as to why he was called by the kidnappers shows he has no
Brain activity. kudos to mama Nina and daddy artty for their steller parenting skills. Erick is Useless as a daddy. I've got more to say about this amazing family but I gotta go home from work now. later people.

Thank you cyndy, you good, girl you good.

Trying to stay neutral. Without having to go back to Epi 1 and quote all the times Nina dissed Regina, one big one I remember is when she took Erick's side when he accused Regina of being the leak that facilitated the embezzled funds.

Like I said earlier (much earlier), we were given to believe she was the villana. So we treat all her actions with suspicion or with having ulterior motives. If she is one of the "bad guys," then she is one of the nicest bad guys in recent memory....and she hasn't killed anyone.

She is a master manipulator, but who isn't to a certain degree. We would all like to have our way most of the time. It makes us happy. Nina has had a pretty decent, happy life. It probably would have continued if it hadn't been for Julia getting into Artie's head. He's been more than willing to keep her supplied with the material things that did make her happy and in return, she kept him happy (and kept him from straying--except in his Julia fantasies). FWIW, someone else could have been raising their kids. They were happy with each other. We saw that at the beginning. There were no cracks yet in the marriage bond.

K, I dont understand what you mean by real life Eric digging plastic in trunk according to email???

What about egg stealer????

Erick punking Connie & Miguel & I LOVE it!

Go get'em Erick!
