El Hotel de los Secretos #65, 4/27/16: The GKK Revealed, But Many Mysteries Still Remain
I’m starting to think the Gran Hotel guests have started coming to the hotel in hopes of witnessing scandal, and this morning they are not disappointed. The lifeless body of a guest has been found on the lawn, a maid has just freshly been murdered upstairs, and the proprietress’ daughter looks to be the culprit. As they mull this over tea and scones in the dining room, in runs the culprit herself—hands bound, and frenzied as she tries to escape the grasp of Detective Ayala. Well, breakfast just got WAY more exciting! They turn to watch the drama, absently sipping their tea and munching on their scones…
Teresa, still thinking there’s a way to put the scandal genie back in the bottle and salvage the “reputation” of her hotel and family, goes over to Ayala and Sofia and curses his methods. Ayala apologizes, implies he doesn’t believe Sofia killed the maid, but says he’s just doing his job and due diligence. He takes Sofia away as she yells that she didn’t kill the woman (we know she didn’t kill the second woman, but she sure as heck killed the first!). Teresa, Alfredo, and Isabel (looking on from a balcony), all seem affected by Sofia’s distress and predicament. Diego sees his blackmail opportunity slipping away, and Elisa is obviously happy to be getting rid of her Sofia problem. Julio sees Isa looking sad, and sympathizes.

Loved Ayala trying to flush out the killer. Great cliffhanger.
Hope that Jorge/Manuela doesn't just cut and run without Felipe. Maybe she can kidnap him on the way out of town.
PyP is 3 hrs tonight , the Gran Final, yea
When Dago was lying to Ayala about staying with Bea's body, he had his fingers crossed behind his back.
How will Isa get out of this mess? Yes, let's hope Ayala was keeping an eye on her, since he involved her in flushing out the killer.
It's funny how in trying to frame Sofia, the killer has actually made people think she's innocent of both the recent murders.
I want to meet the goldsmith. Did he not think it was suspicious when this person (Ben?) ordered up a set of gold knives made, but didn't order spoons or forks too?
How very odd for a serial killer (is it just Benjamin, or did he have a partner?) to give away his trophies, even to frame someone else... especially since the frame didn't take!
I really didn't think Benji would turn out to be a killer. I figured he was taking out all of his aggression punishing himself. I didn't think he'd have enough left over for other people.
So if PyP ends tonight and Yago doesn't start till Monday, what's on at 8 on Friday night? Are we going to get a double-shot of Hotel? Or is it some kind of PyP celebrity special like they used to do on Cristina?
It would make sense for the attacks on Diego and Pablo to have been done by someone other than the original killer - because both were sloppy and didn't result in instant death like the others.
I hope its the actors & not a rehash of the TN
Grr, I am a patient person but sometimes certain people just push me into cursing mode. The unfortunate MF in this show is Jacinto. He has such an iriritating face that I would punch over and over again. He should be used as target practice. Too bad he was not wounded in the gunfight. Please Karma come soon for this hijo de **** and take him far and far away!!!
The curtains are finally up and I am that glad that Ayala did not fall for the bait. He is just gold , gold and gold! I would riot if something happens to Ayala or Matilde. Now I wonder how many members did the secret society have and what were their goals. I hope Ben remains alive so that he could be used as a witness.
Why is this doing so poorly in the ratings? This is such a good one I'd love to see another series with Det. Ayala. Great cast, great production values, so what's the issue?
Elise is some piece of work running Afraido's life the way she does. I hope her Karmageddon is to end up in a manicomio of her own.
Ben as the GKK is totally believable. Can't wait until tomorrow to see how this plays.
I also miss that nutty pianist and his dogs.
UA, I think part of the ratings issue is it's on at 10 for a large part of the country. You go through three hours of TN's before hitting this one, and truthfully, being deeper and darker might not be the way some want to end a night of viewing. This would have served well at 9:00.
The minute the hair samples were being put in the cabinet, and we saw those shuffling feet, knew it had to be Ben. Someone needed a key to get in the room and a little later we see Ben in the Dining Room with the same shoes and the slightly bagging pants. Now, do I think he's the only killer, nope. Maybe of the people who were totally disconnected to our regular characters ( or maybe this son you all already alluded to), but I think someone has used the GKK as a means to copy cat murders or attempts of some people that needed to be taken out of the way. I'm starting to wonder about Sophia since she knew the secret of Andres, knew about Cristina, etc. and would have done anything to make Mumsy proud.
How the h*** does Jacinto get to stay employed at the hotel after what he did. Andres should have marched straight to Alfie and had that idiot fired. Diego wants to keep him employed, fine, he can live in town. Natalee had every right to give Lupe that look.
So after our discussion yesterday, as if the writers read out minds, we had out montage where Julio and Isa were sleeping and snuggled all so sadly and dejectedly with their current others...pining away for their true love. So guess that answered that issue. ( Not much left to the imagination with Julio's pose.)
Poor Felippe shot down to be able to get back with Manuela another day. Dang, why do I want those two to get together so bad. They have totally won me over...two lost souls who need the other. Yeah, I have these moments of being a total sap.
Ayala is so fun to watch in this. His excitement in relating clues and findings is so fun to watch. But I agree...there has to be so much more to this and we are in for some major plot twists and moments for three weeks.Goody!
Daisynjay
I too miss the pianist , I thought that he was part of the secret society as well. Almost no character is pointless in this story and I have always found his interactions with Diego to be mysterious and cryptic.
It's opposite El Senor de los Cielos here, a narco story. I hate that this sub-genre is getting so big.
"we know she didn’t kill the second woman, but she sure as heck killed the first!"
I could tell Julio was not into it but I still cannot with Isabel. Was she having a sad, yes but I want to see real revulsion. It's Diego dammit.
I'm getting angry with Lupe. Jacinto is allowed to terrorize this poor man and the only person that can boot him or have him booted is Lupe. It's possible Jacinto is the faux killer on Diego's directive.
I like Jorge way too much to have her life ruined by Felipe who hasn't learned a thing. Ride like the wind Jorge.
It would have to be an out-of-town monastery where they don't know his reputation. ;-)
Alternatively, he could become a fake priest and join that other guy at the Retreat for Nervous Ladies. As a bonus, if he hallucinates seeing people who aren't there, he'll have convenient access to an ice bath.
I'm assuming CeCe left the note for Diego.
DIE JACINTO DIE.
Andres owns the hotel, doesn't he? I couldn't believe it when Jacinto punched him. I wished A had fired his a$$.
The look Nat gave to Lupe said it all.
If the person who planted the hair in Sofia's room is not Ben, could it be Belen? Or the doc? (noooooooooo!!!!)'
Nanette
Tofie- I'm still struggling to stay awake late, but yesterday I was struggling because I was out late for my b-day on Tuesday and then woke up super early on Wednesday. Not a good combo with jet lag.
Nanette- Has all the legal work been handled to hand over the hotel to Andres yet? I get the feeling that although people clearly see him as having rights because of his bio-dad's last wishes, it's not all quite tied up yet. But, I could be wrong. I'm not through all the episodes I missed yet.
Going to eat dinner and get back to finishing the recap soon, if I'm not too distracted by the PyP finale.
As I understand it, Andres owns the hotel, but the only matters on which he cared to exercise any authority were his mother's position and living quarters. Teresa offered a whiny token protest, which he shot down. But Angela nixed his demands.
Aside from that, he told Teresa he wasn't interested in taking anything away from her. So, I think he is the official owner - but is refusing to do anything, effectively leaving Teresa to call the shots while Diego was convalescing, so she gave Alfredo the director job. But you'd think Teresa would want something in writing, and not just take a moody guy's word for it.
What confuses me is Alfredo. I thought on Tuesday night he told Teresa he was signing his letter of resignation, but Diego is telling Teresa that he wants Alfredo to resign - so either I imagined the resignation, or Teresa is choosing not to tell Diego about it.
I hope Felipe finds happiness with Manuela, but where is Mercedes? I have a fondness for bad boys & Felipe fits the bill. He has done some bullying at the cantina, that I don't like. But seems he just needs some sweet loving by someone he likes (loves) & he'll shape up, I hope.
I just knew it would be Benji but I don't believe he is the only killer, of course we know about Sofia & Bea, Diego & Garrido. Good God, this novela has its share of homicidal maniacs. Am I missing any of the known murderers.
List of dead QEPD
Ximena (?)
Cristina
Pedro
Beatriz
Garrido
criada (do we even know her name?)
attempt
Andres (twice)
Diego (too bad it didn't take)
& now Isabel
Have I missed anyone?
I hope to add Jacinto to the list, what a cruel person he is & his papa is so sweet, (we think)
you must have a photographic memory, I just can't believe the things you recollect, wish I could.
I would love to see your Asia photos.
Teresa gives him a patronizing half smile, that screams “poor, deluded fool.”
Yessss! Lord, Diana Bracho is good at those killer half-smiles. She is doing a great job in her role, as is Daniela Romo as Andrea. For us Carayites, this telenovela is a delight, but I can certainly understand why it might not play as well in Mexico.
Love it that your birthday celebration is going to continue on into the weekend. You should be celebrated every day sweet lady.
Would that we only had to witness heartbreak and loss in these fictionalized stories and not in real life. But it is not to be. Wrap Emilia and Mike in loving and comforting thoughts tonight...they need them.
So I agree, there must be 2 killers. I think the original GKK is Benjamin, like I've been saying all along. But the other one who killed that woman and wanted to frame Sofia is someone else.My guess is it's Belen. Belen wants her baby, she will do whatever if takes to frame Sofia to get the baby back.
Poor Emilia and Mike, no one deserves such heartbreak. :-(
Variopinta, I miss Mercedes too, but I've lost hope that we'll see her again. Unless she changes her mind about Felipe being a monster, there's no reason for her and her father to return to the hotel - in fact, if they've heard about all the bad stuff that's happened there lately (two murders) I can't imagine that they'd ever want to come back again.
I think the point of the Mercedes & Eugenia story was to show us just how weak-willed Felipe is. As much as he supposedly loved Mercedes, he was unable to resist her sister. After Mercedes' accident and Eugenia's suicide, he was sincerely devastated by the harm he had caused, but was unable to reform himself in the slightest even after months of contemplation at the monastery.
So I think the Mercedes story is over and we're being set up for Manuela to be the key to Felipe's future if he doesn't get killed first, because Manuela might be the one woman who can keep him out of trouble!
Felipe certainly has resisted/ruined any and all chances to redeem himself. And life has given him MANY chances. When his father died and he thought he killed him, could have been a good opportunity to change. Instead he sank deeper into wine and women. Then he meets Mercedes, a woman who actually shared his zest and passion for pleasure, who loved him, and challenged him intellectually. He ruined it by sleeping with her jealous and insipid sister. His time in solitary contemplation with the monks could have been another turning point. He stole from them and ran off. Now he has learned he didn't kill his father, and has that burden taken off his chest. Once he also learns Jorge is not a man, will he take this opportunity to start anew and turn his life around? Past experience says he'll squander it.
I hope she rescues herself, but that doesn't seem likely. Worst case scenario, she gets rescued by Die-eggo (say, where did Enoch go?) and has to express her gratitude to him.
Does anyone believe that Dr V may attempt to woo in Teresa? . I always wanted they would end up as a couple but Teresa is obviously too cold and manipulative for romance. She would only break his heart .
Will Nena Limantour ever get any useful plot? She is currently a witness alongside her pal against Olegario but that's about it otherwise she is a worthless existance and waste of space.
I am getting very annoyed by Elisa, she should suffer Karmageddon very soon. That woman is batshit insane, even more than Teresa. Yes you heard me. I would prefer Teresa over Elisa any day!
So sad to hear about Mike and Emilia's Jennifer. I have one of her famous beanies. My thoughts go out to them and their family.
