Pasion y Poder #119, Wednesday 4-6-2016

Jorge and Regina take a screaming Dani to her room. Regina argues with Dani about falling off the wagon. Dani is pissed because she saw the way Regina was looking at David the yesterday at Connie's. She knows that Regina still has the hots for her boyfriend, Dani's boyfriend that is. Dani tells Jorge to not be fooled because Regina still wants David and he is an idiot to think otherwise. Jorge stops Dani from storming out of the room. She calms down when he tells her that he will call David. Dani decides that she will call David.
Gaby is concerned because she has not heard from Julia. Franco tells her not to worry because she is fine. He tells her that Julia used Hummy as an excuse to meet up with Art in Las Vegas. Gaby can't believe it. Franco tells her that Dani told him about it and that Eladio confirmed it. Franco tells her that Julia never stopped loving Art and that Eladio needs to move on with his life.
David is comforting Dani who seems to be going through withdrawl. She is pale, sweating and in the fetal position. Nina shows up. She is grateful for what David is doing. Nina tells David that she will take care of Dani and he can go home.
Regina and Jorge talk. She hopes that Jorge doesn't believe what Dani was saying about David. She clarifies thateven though she wanted to kiss David they only talked about Dani. Jorge is not worried. He knows that Regina is with him because she wants to be. He is very happy with her. He leaves now that Nina and David are taking care of Dani.
Nina lies in bed with Dani. Nina wants to call the doctor. Dani insists that she not call. Nina will stay with her all night.
Gaby has decided to stay out of Julia's personal business. She asks Franco about the factory and he tells her that everything is ok. He asks her to meet him for lunch. He needs to leave because he has a contract to sign. It's a project that he will work on with David which makes Gaby happy.
Dani awakes from a rough night. Nina insists on taking Dani to the hospital if she isn't better. Dani says she is fine. She needs to call Lulis to apologize. Dani tells Nina that she is starting to understand what Regina was talking about. How her boyfriend's mother is her father's lover. It doesn't feel right. It hurts Dani to see how Julia and Art are making Nina suffer. She hates Julia now more than ever.
In Vegas Hummy convinces Julia is stay in Vegas. He promises to not take off the oxygen again. She says she is worried about his health but gives in anyway.
Nina tells Dani that she can't do anything to stop her from dating David. She is willing to put up with Julia for the happiness of her daughters. Nina says she is a strong woman and she will move on with her life.
Chimp Boy (CB) goes into Art's office to bother Miguel who IS working. CB tries to provoke Miguel but it doesn't work. CB shoves Miguel to try and piss him off. Miguel tells CB to hit him so that he can press charges against him now. CB calls Miguel a coward. Miguel tells CB that one day he will pay for what he did to Connie and leaves the office.
Connie tells Regina how in love she is with Miguel. They have alot in common and he makes her laugh. The only good that came out her marriage to CB was her baby. Connie asks how things are with Jorge. Regina says she admires him and that everyday he shows how much he loves her. She likes how secure he is and that he has never been jealous over David. Jorge comes into the office. Connie leaves. Jorge asks Regina to marry him.
CB is in Art's office when Auggie comes in. Auggie tells him to stop looking at paperwork that is none of his business. CB gets pissy. They start to argue and Auggie tells CB that he should be in jail. At this point Connie is at the open door and can hear everything. CB claims he is innocent. Auggie tells him to stop faking, they both know that Art bought the witness. If it weren't for that CB would be in jail for exterminating TheRat. Connie storms in, "So it was you that killed her?"
Regina wants to know if Jorge is being serious. He says if it were up to him he would get married today. Regina comes up with the excuse that she wants to travel and do other things. He knows that so he will wait. But in the meantime they can travel together. He asks her to go to Valle del Bravo. She says OK.
CB tells Connie not to listen to Auggie. Auggie sustains what he said and adds that CB should be rotting in jail. CB doesn't want to hear anymore from Auggie and wants him far away from the baby. Auggie is going to do everything so that the baby doesn't grow up with CB. CB swears to get even with Auggie. Connie tells Auggie to let her talk with CB. WHY? Auggie leaves. Connie tells CB that she didn't think he could do worse than what he had already done, but now he is scaring her. CB even cried and played the victim all this time when in fact he was the exterminator. He killed TheRat because he could not stand her being with another. CB tells Connie that he didn't want to do it, but one thing lead to another and she fell. He didn't want to hurt TheRat because he loved her. She was a real woman, not like Connie. And that's when Connie gives CB a well deserved slap! Connie doesn't know how, but she is going to find a way for the truth to come out and the baby is going to go with her. CB warns Connie that just like TheRat fell off the balcony, either Connie or the baby can have an accident. Before Connie leaves CB also warns her not to talk about this to anyone.
In Vegas we see several scenes of Julia and Art strolling along the Vegas strip. Hummy is gambling at the slot machines. If Julia is so worried about her father's health and well being why did she leave him alone and take off with Art?
Nina comes to Eladio's office for a lesson on how to become a successful business woman. Eladio wants to clear up what happened the night before.
Gaby runs into Caridad when she goes to GLA to meet Franco for lunch. Caridad answers the phone from some people wanting info from Franco on Gaby's factory. Caridad passes the call to Gaby. She tells the person on the line that she is the owner of the factory. They tell her that the factory was SOLD! She can't believe that Franco would do that to her. Caridad tells her to calm down. Gaby wants to talk to Eladio before talking to Franco but Caridad tells her that he is busy with Nina. Caridad tells her to talk with Franco forst before drawing any conclusions. Gaby asks Caridad not to tell Franco anything and leaves. So of course Caridad calls Franco and leaves him an urgent message to call her back.
Nina thinks that her and Eladio should not have gotten to the point of kissing last night. Eladio agrees and says that the good thing is they knew when to stop and nothing happened. Nina agrees, but says she had never done anything like that. Eladio thinks they did it as revenge over knowing that Art and Julia were together.
Back in Vegas Julia doesn't seem to be feeling any of the guilt Nina and Eladio are feeling. Art is wining and dining her. She's living it up Vegas style!
In the DF, Eladio tells Nina that they should keep the kiss as a memory and move on. Nina thinks that it made them closer friends and wants to continue with Eladio's support for managing her money and with help for Dani too. Nina can't understand how Julia let Eladio go. Eladio can't understand why Art strayed away from Nina. She asks him to look over some paperwork that Auggie sent her.
Franco meets with Pedro to pay him off.
Connie tells Clarita about CB's threats. Clarita tells her to tell Art or the cops. Connie says she can't. Clarita tells Connie to be careful because besides the baby, CB can also hurt Miguel. Connie tells Clarita that she can't tell anyone what she just told her. Miguel shows up and comforts Connie.
Nina thanks Eladio for his advice. He says that she is a quick learner. Even though she is the competition, maybe one day they can do business together. Nina leaves the office.
Gaby confronts Franco about selling the factory. She wants to know why he sold it without consulting her first. He tells her to calm down. He says he's sorry he did it, but it's just that he didn't want her to see how bad the business was. It was just losing more and more money. She says it doesn't matter. He should have told her. It was the only thing she had left of her father. He didn't want to go into details because she doesn't know anything about business. She is too sentimental and would want to keep a failing business. She says that she would have tried to save it before selling it to the first buyer like Franco did. Franco takes offense to Gaby saying that she doesn't trust him. Gaby says she should have given control to Eladio. Franco tells her that he is going to give her a complete report of the factpry to show her how bad it was doing and then she will realize that he was right.
Obdulio is talking to the plants. Petra tells him to leave the plants alone. Obdulio wants to know when she is going to forgive him. She says never.
Caridad explains what happened with Gaby and how she passed the phone to her. Franco blames it all on Caridad and tells her to stop getting into his personal business. Franco tells her that she has to keep Gaby from telling Eladio. Franco calls Marcos.
CB and Dani talk at the mansion. CB is upset that Miguel, Regina and Auggie get better treatment at the office than him. He didn;t even get to go to Las Vegas. He feels that Art is just pushing him aside. Dani tells him that now he knows how she felt when Art would ignore her. CB says that Art will regret what he is doing.
Franco tells Marcos that Gaby found out about the sale of the factory. He tells Marcos that he needs to come up with a complete report indicating that the factory was in ruins.
Back to Vegas. Julia and Art take a helicopter ride and take selfies. Boy, I hope they post them on facebook! Next they go shopping. Julia doesn't let Art pay. Now that she works, she can buy her own stuff.
Nina tells Fanny about the kiss with Eladio. Fanny had predicted that one day Nina would end up with Art's money and Eladio. Nina says she would give anything to be happy with Art again. Fanny tells her that it can no longer be with Art, so she should continue with Eladio. Nina says that neither her or Eladio want a relationship. Fanny says she should go for it. Isn't Nina enraged that Art is parading around with Julia in front of all the businessmen? And to top it off Art is taking Julia to all the places he and Nina would frequent.
The lights are still shining bright on the Vegas strip. Julia and Art go on a sophisticated champagne-filled ferris wheel ride. They exit holding hands. We need to remember all these details because Julia will forget them when asked what happened in Vegas? Hummy is back at the roulette wheel, losing. Julia and Art go back to his giant hotel suite. They drink more champagne. Gee, I hope Art remembered to order Julia's favorite. It's all in the details.
And back to the DF Caridad visits a pissed off Gaby the following day. Franco didn't make it home last night. Caridad wants her to calm down. Franco shows up with a big stack of papers. He claims it is the proof that shows how bad the factory was doing. He tells her that when she's done going through everything she can let him know if he did wrong in selling the factory and he takes off.
Eladio is at a therapy session.
Eladio: "Nina arrived feeling very hurt. I suppose she felt as bad as I did. She started to cry, and what could I do? I tried to console her."
Therapist: "And?"
E: "And, I don't know. Suddenly, we just kissed. But, but of course it didn't go any further."
T: "And how do you feel?"
E: "It's incredible that with only one kiss I feel guilty. I feel very guilty."
T: "Don't be so hard on yourself. It's part of the process of getting over Julia. It's logical that you would start to get close to someone else."
E: "I can't. I can't, plus nothing good would come out of it because it's Nina"
T: "Did you kiss her because she was Arturo's wife, or because you like her?"
E: "What I think is that unconsciously I did it out of anger, out of retaliation, or maybe a little of both. I don't know, maybe if I felt that Arturo was with my wife (the therapist tries to correct Eladio by strongly clearing his throat), well, with my ex, maybe out of anger it didn't bother me kissing his (ex-wife). And, and well yes Nina is attractive but it wasn't because of that."
In Vegas Julia thanks Art for distracting her for a while from all her problems. Art thanks her for accepting his company. She tells him that she is still confused. He says that he is there to support her. He will be there to help her heal her heart. He tells her he still loves her and that he always has. Hummy rolls up. Julia and Hummy leave the hotel lobby. Art watches her walk away. She looks back one last time and waves goodbye to Art.

A friend of mine obsessed about her ex for ten years after the divorce. She also obsessed over her high school boyfriend and he treated her (and all other women) like toys.

Did Nina ever figure out that Dani was having a drug related episode? It happened while she was out trying to suck off Eladio's face and I don't think any of the participant Einsteins sat her down and told her what she missed. So she spent the night with Dani trying to figure out why she was having coke withdrawl symptoms in the absence of a positive drug test.
The next remake of this show should be just called "S T F U" Over and over again someone discovers something that needs to be on the news and goes along like a deaf mute and tells NO ONE. The latest Dani circus, Connie overhearing Auggy and Chimp Boy, on and on.
Caridad must be so proud of her spawn. Did she do the right thing when she killed the Father of the spawn to save Spawn JR? It appears to be irrepairably damaged and a menace to everyone around it. (Franco)

Thanks, AuntyAnn, for that excellent recap. I was only surfing in and out of this episode. You certainly got an action packed show.
First, it was foolish of Connie to askbto be aline in the room with Monkey. If I had to choose between him and Franky, I would have to choose Franky because he is at least proactively evil . The man has an evil plan to ruin dad and rule the world. Monkmonk is just such a petulant little boy. Boo freaking hoo, everyone gotbto go to Vegas but me. Daddy didn't take me with . Really??? How many people has he threatened ???...Connie, Miguel, Auggie, AND HIS OWN BABY. This guy has to die.
I hope that scheming Franky ends up working in that shoe factory that he stole from his dim wife.
Julia and Art laughing and splashing all over town..?ugh! I am done with Julia! I don't want her to end up with either Eladio or Art. Lovesick Eladio may have a sordid past, butbhisvpiningbover Julia..or rather his image of her...is starting to get pathetic! Both of these Titans of industry lovesick over a woman...really?!
Then, there's that kiss between Eladio and Nina...no..just no. I hope that the writers do not have a wife swap in store for us. However, I am reminded of many cases among my own friends , relatives, and acquaintances in which men have found someone else very quickly after a divorce or death. My cousin and my friend remarried about a year after their wives died. A friend's daughter's ex has had four girlfriends since they separated. Men seem to move on pretty quickly after a divorce or death .

Then, there's that kiss between Eladio and Nina...no..just no. I hope that the writers do not have a wife swap in store for us. However, I am reminded of many cases among my own friends , relatives, and acquaintances in which men have found someone else very quickly after a divorce or death. My cousin and my friend remarried about a year after their wives died. A friend's daughter's ex has had four girlfriends since they separated. Men seem to move on pretty quickly after a divorce or death .

And Dani declaring her hatred of Julia. Of course.

Julia is trying to see if she will allow her high school suitor (Arturo) to kiss her. Arturo is fighting for his romantic life. The contrast was sobering.
"Then, there's that kiss between Eladio and Nina...no..just no". Oh susanlynn, I totally agree. I would be extremely upset if these two were the couple left standing at the end when everyone else is annihilated, physically and or emotionally at the conclusion of this unholy mess.
It seems Humberto's winning streak has ended. Perhaps it's best he leaves with whatever meager winnings he has.

I am serious, you clever recappers are the only thing keeping me watching this show. I would bet I speak for many. Case in point last night Connie asking for an alone moment with Chimpo. Did she need to tell him that in reality she dug the rape and held no grudge and didn't want anyone else to know? Maybe again some time? Hell noooo. It was so contrived by the writers to let her be the only one who was a first hand witness to Chimpo's threats.
You do not need to be a Sherlock Holmes or Einsstein to enjoy this show, admittedly, But puleeeeze. Like "Oh Mommy, how did he jump on top of that big building?".

Nina hasn't seen that the negative drug test and the withdrawal don't add up. This either means she hasn't done her homework, didn't have any drug abuse in her immediate family of origin, or is in denial. Maybe all three. This is a hugely horrible thing to deal with. Daniela needs to be committed. She is now a danger to herself and others.
Ape Child needs to be in prison. I would normally think that a threat to kill a child is deserving of a death sentence from the writers, but that's too easy. He's not clever enough to pull an escape, won't have money he could bribe anyone with, and with his rap sheet he will be dead meat among the other prisoners. This is also more than enough for Nina to disown him.
I'm still trying to figure out Franco's game. We know he wants to steal GLA out from under Eladio, but is he also planning to off Gabriela? He certainly is showing no respect for her and there cannot be love without respect. He may be a decent fraud strategist, but he seems to be failing at analyzing how this will affect the women in his life. Is he planning to off Gabriela, Marintia, or both? And what about Caridad? Had the writers even decided this as of this point?

What??? Of course, it leads to the Dani hating Julia point, which of course sets up Dani and David on the outs...

Can't even with the Jorge marriage thing. You keep painting this guy as a hopeless romantic, and then that's how he does the marry me idea thing? Yeah, no. But it served the purpose of showing viewerville that Gina is conflicted and still loves the hero galan.
So anyone else think as the picture faded with Artie in his happy place, watching Julia push papa out unto the sunset that "What happened in Vegas, stays in Vegas" might be what we got. I could sense the anvils falling as we went to the credits.
Watch, Gaby will get all "forgive me my love" to Franco. At which I will throw something at the TV. Wonder if there any sales going on med. size flat screens around.

He will probably try to drag Arturo down with him over the bribe although that might not be so easy with the witness now being dead. She should definitely not try talking to Nina whom I don't think is really ready yet to accept the truth. She still thinks that the Rat's death was an accident. She also once told Erick to get control of her company shares "and then she can go to Hell." While Consuelo didn't hear that she definitely knows what Nina thinks of her.

Thank you AuntyAnn. I appreciate the detailed recap especially since I am currently unable to watch. It sounds like I would have had to walk away a few times as seeing Julia with Art would have made me want to hurl something at my tv. Art sure did a full court press, thankfully Julia said goodnight and went her own way. I still believe it's Eladio she loves and pines for. Art was a distraction while she was in Vegas...nothing more. #teamEladio
Nina is not equipped to deal with her daughter's substance abuse issues. Certainly not alone. The girl needs a lovibg intervention..at this point the whole family should be sat down together to confront and express their concern for Dani. Its no joke now. Art needs to request that Eladio help by demanding she go to rehab and get clean or lose her contract Next Art/Nina need to come together on a united front and committ to being with Dani through this and mean it. No running off (im looking at you Art). If after all this she refuses..then they can truly say they tried. Right now all I see is a half ass attempt.

I've previously noted that I can't fathom why Nina would ever accept being second in Eladio's affections to Julia. History should not repeat itself. Even though I'm far from Nina's staunchest supporter (ummm, that would be you my friend ;)), she shouldn't settle. Everyone deserves to come in first at some point.

I guess pov's vary on this as well because I dont see Eladio as 'obsessed' with Julia. He let her go, gave her the mansion, part of the company and has respected her space. Art has completely dimantled his marriage,hurting his children in the process and chases Julia down every chance he gets. Despite her telling him she loves Eladio and hasno intentionof getting together with him. She urged theman to mend things with his kids. What does he do? It is true Arturo made it known he wanted Julia and has certainly pursued her wholeheartedly (at a cost to his wife and family).
But I might suggest that Eladio did just fine ruining his marriage all on his own. He raped Julia, kept her a virtual prisoner for years, refused to acknowledge David (treating him shabbily until recently). He kept Franco's identity a secret - the list goes on and on.
Julia left Eladio because of his deceit, not because of Arturo.
I agree that Eladio does love Julia but have no idea as to how this will end.
It's fun discussing these characters and refreshing and invigorating to hear all the different takes on these beloved and not so beloved characters.

But I might suggest that Eladio did just fine ruining his marriage all on his own. He raped Julia, kept her a virtual prisoner for years, refused to acknowledge David (treating him shabbily until recently). He kept Franco's identity a secret - the list goes on and on.
Julia left Eladio because of his deceit, not because of Arturo.
I agree that Eladio does love Julia but have no idea as to how this will end.
It's fun discussing these characters and refreshing and invigorating to hear all the different takes on these beloved and not so beloved characters.

Thank you Diana, I absolutely agree about Eladios hand in the demise if his marriage..which is why I referred to the early days of the Tn and his behaviour. Still Julia did decide to try and actually particpated in the therapy. The marriage was on track and she forgave him his past transgressions against him. Julia saw a man changing toward her and toward their son. Indeed Eladio has tried to right his wrongs with David. I dont think he can continually be crucified for those mistakes if the other person says 'I forgive you' The matter that tore it was the Franco secret. Eladio displayed torment and guilt. I like to believe with more time he would have gotten the courage to actually tell her; but we'll never know because Arturo inserted himself spilling the beans. He has a huge hand in how it all fell apart. Its hard enough to rebuild a marriage without a third party constantly insinuating tmemselves.
I don't remember who first dubbed Erick "Chimp Boy" but I just checked it and saw that chimpanzees are more dangerous than gorillas, as in far more aggressive. They have greater muscle strength than humans relative to their size and weight. They hunt and have been known to kill and eat other apes.

A friend of mine obsessed about her ex for ten years after the divorce. She also obsessed over her high school boyfriend and he treated her (and all other women) like toys.
I dont know how this plays out, the Mateo secret certainly wont help. Perhaps Julia will understand the position Eladio was put in by Caridad/Marintia/Franco. Im hoping but won't be surprised if Eladio is left standing alone at the end or as some have suggested, dies. I really hope not.

Gaby had options Julia didn't, since Gaby worked and had loving parents who could help her. She also had Eladio's protection at the time. This concealment is the same kind of time bomb waiting to go off. It will prove that Franco is a carbon copy of Eladio.
In some ways it's potentially worse. Hello, in my opinion no matter how this novela ends people will be disappointed because of how the writers of this novela decided to play with the story, this novela had the potential to be a good one but the writers botched it. First if Nina was a villain, then I think She's the worst villain in the history of novelas, also the way they botched the gina/David story was horrible, I don't see how they get back together without further damaging the story as for Jorge Arturo can do us a favor and send him on an assignment so that we don't see him again, but come to think of it Jorge and Clara would have been a better couple than Clara and Justino. Also why did they axe Francisco just like that? Why have him in the novela if they knew he wouldn't last long?

Susanlynn, I've only known one person who so fixated over the one that got away it messed her up for all future relationships. Most others think fondly of the
first love, or the one that got away and move on.
For the one friend I had it was a tale that could be used in this sorry tale. I don't think her "true love" was ever that into her. They dated a while, he was a great guy and treated her very well, but SHE actually broke it off a la mean girl dump because he didn't spend enough on her gifts for Valentines, birthday, etc. Her motto was to love me was to go broke over me. He was a college kid putting his way through school! Anyway, after she started dating again,the mantra became "they aren't like Jim" and it went on and on for years.Five years and you could see her becoming obsessed at the idea of getting him back. So she started tracking where he moved and actually went to visit him to tell him SHE wanted to get back together. She found he was two weeks away from getting married. She couldn't believe he "forgot her" and didn't realize they would get back one day because they were meant to be....you get the drill. They had NEVER talked or wrote or even facebooked in all those years.) She married and then divorced and repeated that a few times...
Seems to me that this type of fixation goes with someone much more into a relationship than the other, or because of some other deep-seeded insecurity. I still wonder how much Julia is a beautiful possession to own, or win against the guy who wants her as well. I don't think either guys should "win" the fair damsel. whether they destroy themselves in the process of trying will be the question.

OK, I'll try that one: Regina can trust Arturo to take her word for it and see Erick for what he is. She knows he's a slacker and an immature jerk who doesn't care whom he hurts as long as he gets his own way. She can't put the same level of trust in Nina about Daniela because Nina has always taken Daniela's side against her.

Thank you Aunty Ann for an enjoyable recap. "She clarifies that (even though she wanted to kiss David) they only talked about Dani. Jorge is not worried" Couldn't agree with you more, Regina is making it so obvious that she wants David back and Jorge is in complete denial. The face she made when he suggested a trip was blatant. I couldn't believe Jorge would ask her to marry him! He's either really stupid or desperate. Regina was very clear when they first started dating.

That was certainly a beanie moment, Hummy seemed all alone, with not even his nurse around, it made no sense. I enjoyed the scenes of them taking in Vegas, I love it there and can't wait to go back. I follow PyP's Instagram account and it seems like filming was done in February so it was pretty cold.
I don't quite understand how the hired goon is able to blackmail Franco and Chimp Boy. Yes, he can threaten to expose them but since the goon is the one that did the dirty work, wouldn't he end up incriminating himself if he rats Franco and CB out?

Nina is already concerned about the whole triangle thing and she doesn't like Jotge. I am wondering whether she might catch on to the fact that David still loves Regina. If so she could take his support of Regina's word the wrong way.

I am looking forward to the start of the anvils, especially on chimp boy.
I have been thinking about Dani and discussed it with my mom over the weekend. I hate to say it but I don't see how Regina and David are going to be end game with Dani still in the picture. I don't see Dani stepping aside to let R&D be together, not even if she goes to rehab. I don't want her to die, but I think the writing's on the wall.

There is no excuse for Reginna keeping quiet about the hotel incident. Doesnt matterif she thinks her mother woukdnt believe her. Who cares? This isn't a time to think about yourself if a sibling you claim to care about is in danger.
Regina's secret has the potential to be as damning as anyone else's. ..especially if Dani cones to a fatal end.
