Pasión y poder, Ep. 130, Thursday, April 21, 2016: It's a dog eat dog world. ¡Qué FEA! (Franco, Erick, Ashmore)

Arturo's day is off to a rocky start

Julia, clearly shaken by Nina's visit, tells Arturo that it would be best to end "this thing" and not see each other anymore.

The Careful Courtship Proceeds

In the infirmary of the foundation, Gabriela and Agustín enjoy the supper he has prepared at home as they keep vigil over little Diego, asleep on the cot.  When the boy groans fitfully, Agustín checks on him and comforts him, assuring him he's just having bad dream.  Agustín tells Gaby the boy still has a little fever and then puts a cool washcloth on the child's forehead.  "You like playing soccer?  You'll see – you'll be out playing again very soon."

Gaby looks on with an approving smile.  "You'll make a great father."  He returns her smile, reminding her that when he has a wife, he plans to adopt five kids.  "How long before you're married?" Diego asks.  He wants to be one of those five kids.  Agustín says he doesn't know – he's waiting for the woman of his dreams.

He looks meaningfully at Gabriela, but she refuses to catch his eye.

Arturo Montenegro Cannot Believe His Ears

This thing?  [¿Esto?]  That's what Julia is calling their relationship?  He'll talk to Nina and make sure she doesn't bother Julia again.  It's not because of what Nina said, explains Julia, it's because of everything else: "Regina and David – who really love each other – can't be together because of us."

Here Arturo interrupts her angrily, repeating the word realmente.  "In other words [o sea] we don't really love each other?"

Julia is insistent.  "Face it.  It's our fault that they can't be together.  We can't keep trying to fight against fate."

Arturo, getting more and more exasperated – even accusatory – pleads with her not to give up.  "What kind of love [qué clase de amor] do you feel for me?  Tell me because I feel like a fool."

At this point Julia is also getting a little testy.  She refuses to argue about it.  She has made a decision, the best one possible even if he doesn't see that.  And now he needs to leave.

When Arturo refuses to go, it is Julia who turns on her heel and walks away, leaving Arturo alone in the mansion.

If it takes forever, I will wait for you. (How long is that in turtle years?)

Jorge assures Regina that his feelings for her are unchanged and he's going to wait until she is so beaten down and desperate that she decides to be with him.  She thanks him for understanding.  "I just need time to put my thoughts and feelings in order but... "  The thought is left hanging.  Jorge rushes into the breach and repeats his belief that one day he will win her heart completely.  She nods and smiles weakly.  [Or maybe she just has gas.]

Somebody call a nurse!

Gaby is relieved that Diego is getting better.  "With a nurse like you, anyone would get well," says Agustín, making her smile.  Suddenly Agustín is feeling ill himself – he has a headache, his belly hurts and he's shaking.  It takes a moment, but Gaby realizes that he's teasing and her worried expression turns into amusement.  It's late, she says.  He should go home and get some rest.  He'd like to stick around and keep her company.  He can stay as long as he likes, she tells him.  "There's still dessert left," he says impishly.

And the Award for Best Kiss Goes To...

The dark sky turns light.  Agustín looks adoringly at Gaby, wrapped in a blanket and asleep on the couch in the infirmary. She wakes up when her phone rings – it's Graciela, the foundation assistant, calling to say she has just arrived and can take her place for a while – and then she checks on little Diego, who is still sleeping.  "You took good care of him," Gaby tells Agustín. "Thanks for staying with me."

Before leaving, Agustín stops to kiss her goodbye, perhaps intending a friendly graze of the cheek.  They both hesitate.  Their lips finally meet in a slow, sweet romantic kiss.

And you're STILL confiding in Humberto and considering his advice?

Over breakfast at the Gómez Luna mansion, Humberto notices that Julia looks sad. Why?  She tells him she broke up with Arturo the night before, repeating that Nina made her realize that their children are being affected by their actions.  Besides, Nina wants her to support David's relationship with Daniela.  She can't do that because David doesn't love her.  In the long run, both of them are going to suffer, especially because Regina isn't going to get married...

We're all grateful for Simona's entrance at this point because it forces Julia to stop blathering... until we hear the reason for the interruption: Arturo is there and wants to see her.  [From Simona's expression, she is none too happy to receive el señor Montenegro.]  Sigh.  Julia doesn't want to see him.  Humberto tells her she'd be playing right into Nina's hands by refusing to see him. "At least listen to what Arturo has to say."  He nods encouragingly, playing the wise, loving father card.  Julia looks dubious.

Oops.  My bad.

Several minutes later [or that's how it seems], Gaby breaks away from the kiss.  They both apologize.  It should never have happened – she's a married woman!  Now, of course, they can't see each other again, says Gaby.  It was all her fault.  She knew how Agustín felt about her and she shouldn't have asked him to have supper with her and spend the night.

Agustín points out that she only asked him because Franco wasn't willing to keep her company.  "Face it, Gabriela.  Franco isn't there for you."

Diego stirs awake.  Gaby tells him that Agustín has to leave.  "But you're coming back, right?" the boy asks.  "You promised you'd visit me and we'd play soccer."

Agustín assures the child he's going to keep his word.  Then he turns to Gaby:  "My help with the foundation is completely separate, right?"  Gaby smiles uneasily and nods.

Glad Wrap or Love?

Eladio is at his desk, holding his gold lighter and a cigar and studying a balance sheet on his computer.  David enters and reports that he told Daniela it would be best to end their relationship.  Bien hecho, says Eladio.  "I wish," replies David [Ojalá].  He tells his father that Daniela doesn't see it that way and is insisting that they fight for their relationship:

"I mean, in Monterrey, she heard me say that I still loved Regina..."

"I told you.  You see?  Now Daniela is clinging to you [está aferrando a ti]."

David insists that's not it, that Daniela really loves him.  And he feels a lot of affection for her too, though he doesn't love her.  [Le tengo mucho cariño, la quiero mucho pero no la amo.]

Eladio says the longer David stays with Daniela, the more obligated he is going to feel.  She may need him, but in the long run, both will be hurt if he stays with her out of pity [por compasión].  David denies that this is his motive.

Eladio urges his son to think it over carefully because there will come a time when he can't turn back.  And he knows that David still loves Regina.

"I suppose there are loves that can't be," says David wistfully.

"That's not true," protests Eladio.  [And we all know he isn't just thinking about his son.]

David sighs, tells his father he's okay, and leaves.

Daniela eats Meow Mix for breakfast

Sitting on the patio overlooking the lovely garden of the Montenegro mansion, Daniela regales Nina with the story of Regina's rejection of Jorge's public proposal.  When Regina joins them, Nina wants to know if she and Jorge broke up.  Regina explains that she asked him for some time to think it over.  Meanwhile, they will continue as if nothing had happened.  Nina thinks that won't be easy.  Daniela narrows her exquisitely painted cat's eyes and shows her claws.  "Yes, really, after Jorge made such a fool of himself [qué oso de Jorge] – and even worse after what you did.

Get it?  Um, no.

Apparently Julia has yielded to Humberto's pressure because now she approaches Arturo in the foyer of the mansion.  He wants to talk things over calmly.  Julia says she isn't going to change her mind.  Arturo says he hasn't talked to Nina yet because he wants to hear Julia's version of their conversation first.  Besides, he wants to avoid making things worse for his children.  The relationship between Daniela and Regina is already tense. [You think?]

Julia imagines that it is – because David and Regina love each other.  She doesn't want her son to hate her for the rest of his life because he can't be with the woman he loves.

"Why can't he?" asks Arturo.

"You don't understand."

Arturo agrees.  He doesn't understand.

The Turtle took it on the chin (Wait...do turtles even have chins?)

Regina insists that Jorge took his public humiliation maturely.  She cares about him very much [Yo lo quiero mucho] but she isn't ready to get married yet.  Nina asks her to make her decision carefully: whatever she decides, she will support her.  Mother and daughter exchange smiles.

Daniela gets in a few more digs at her sister.  It's clear Regina and weddings just don't get along.  "I just hope that when David asks me to marry him, it's not as lame as Jorge's proposal [no sea en una forma tan chafa].

Regina rises above the bait.  [Did we tell you that Regina is noble?  Annoying as hell, but muy muy noble.]  She hopes Dani and David can be happy together.

The Girl Can't Help It

Once Regina has left the table, Nina reproaches her less than noble younger daughter: it's one thing to defend her relationship with David and another to behave that way with her sister.  Daniela says she knows... she just can't help it because she's terrified that David will end up with Regina.

So Julia takes out the oranges and apples and tries to explain

"There's a reason Regina turned down Jorge's proposal."

"Even so," replies Arturo, "Regina and David have made their decisions."

Julia sighs.  "Our children are suffering and it's our fault.  And I know better than anyone what it means to be with one person when you love someone else."

Arturo pounces on her words: "So you admit that you've loved me all this time!  You just said so, right?"

Julia nods.  "When I married Eladio, yes, I couldn't get you out of my heart..."

Arturo interrupts her eagerly: "In fact you never could!"

Julia admits she wanted to be with Arturo, but now she thinks she was holding onto a memory after she had to give up the possibility of being happy with him.

Arturo starts to protest:  "Julia..."

But she continues:  "You cheated on me with Susana.  I had to get away from you.  I married Eladio and he finally won me over.  And now..."

She breaks off and starts to cry.

Arturo is distressed.  "Please don't get upset  [No te pongas así].  I thought our being together would make us happy."

Julia says she feels pressured.  Arturo repeats that David and Regina are adults who have made their own decisions.  She says she needs to talk to David.

Arturo tells her not to forget that he loves her – and that she loves him too.  All he wants is for them to be happy together.  He kisses her cheek, whispers tranquila, and finally walks away.  Julia stands alone, one perfect tear streaming down her lovely face, her mascara intact.

It's just not meant to be [sob]

David ambushes Regina in her office.  He has a single question for her: why did she turn down Jorge's proposal?  "Because we're very young and there are still things I want to do in my life..."

David interrupts her.  That's the official version and he needs the truth.  She gets her deer-in-the-headlights look.  She's told him thousands of times why they can't be together [and us, god help us, and us], she says.  And now she has an even more important reason:  She sees how good he is for her sister and she won't risk Daniela's wellbeing for anything.

David is crying.  "But you still love me?"

"Yes, I still love you, David."

"And don't you realize that I still love you?"

"Sometimes there are obstacles to love," she tells him.  "As much as we love each other, we can't be together.  Your place is with Daniela – I'll live my life on my own and we'll have our memories because love..."

"... because love isn't always possible."

Their hands are clasped together.  Now David kisses Regina's hands and lets go.  "I'm going crazy," he says quietly as he heads out the door.  She has trouble catching her breath.

Lucky to be away from the crazies they work for

Justino helps Clara out of the Fiesta Americana van.  Surprise – they're in Querétaro!  Clara loves what she sees.  They hug and kiss.

Honey, I'm home!  Um, honey???

Gaby returns to an empty house.  When Franco walks in, she points out that his bed is still made and he's wearing what he wore the day before.  "Who did you spend the night with Franco?"

Hearts and Flowers

A rose petal heart graces the bed in the honeymoon suite.  Clara can see the pool from their window.

Bitter Gall

Franco goes on the offensive.  Why does Gaby always think the worst of him?   He had to work!   But Gaby has heard it all before.  She's sure he was with another woman.  He denies the existence of another woman and accuses her of trying to control him.

As her anger cools and is replaced by obvious hurt, his demeanor gets calmer, colder and more scornful.  He goes to the shower to wash away the Mouth Breather cooties [though he doesn't tell her this part].  Maybe by the time he's done, she won't be spouting stupidities.

I love him, I love him not...

Julia is back in the contemporary confessional.  She tells the psychologist she has broken up with Arturo.  Her reasons?  Well first, there was Nina saying that Arturo had destroyed his family because of her. "And that's just not true!"

And were there other reasons for her decision?

Sure, their relationship was affecting their children...

The therapist isn't quite satisfied with Julia's reasons:

"Isn't it possible that you are using those things as an excuse?  I want you to think carefully about whether you love Arturo or if you've only been using him to punish Eladio."

As is so often the case with Julia, she seems taken aback by the psychologist's question.

The Evil Gringo Plays Hardball

Arturo sits at his desk and faces Peter Ashmore.  "All the business you and I had together has been cancelled."  He hands the evil gringo [no, not you, Gringo dear] a folder and warns him to expect a huge suit for damages.  The Ash jumps to his feet and calls him a bastard [desgraciado].  Arturo returns the compliment and kicks him out of his office.  The Ash storms out into the corridor, slamming the door behind him. Daniela walks past him without noticing him. He watches her retreating back and mutters that he is going to take his revenge on Arturo by getting at what he loves most.  "And this time, I won't fail."

Julia has had a moment to think

Now she tells her therapist that no, she doesn't want to punish Eladio.  And she doesn't want to hurt Arturo either.  She's trying to find a new direction in her life.

What's holding her back?

Their children.  Many years ago, she loved Arturo deeply, but the circumstances now are different and everything has become very complicated.

"Sometimes a person dreams of what might have been, but that is impossible to recover because when you meet someone again, things have changed."

Julia agrees readily: "Yes, that's exactly what happened to me and Arturo.  He still loves me the same way, but his circumstances..."  She sighs.

"Maybe," suggests the therapist, "you need to get to know this new Arturo – a divorced man with children – and see what happens instead of just walking away."

Julia knows she's running away, but she has her reasons.  For one thing, her son still loves Regina and she doesn't want him to marry Daniela just because he thinks it's the right thing to do.  The psychologist points out that she can tell her son what she thinks, but it is up to him to make his own decisions and learn from his wise choices [aciertos] and his mistakes.  "You should be worrying about yourself: if you're not okay, you won't be able to help anyone else."

Julia nods.

The We Hate Arturo Club holds an impromptu meeting in the hallway of Grupo Montenegro

Ashmore spots Erick and tells him he's in a hurry to get the money Erick promised.  He and Arturo have just parted ways and the Ash wants to show what he can do without him. Erick agrees to meet him at the usual bar in half an hour.

As the Ash walks away, Nina sees Erick and approaches him.  Meanwhile, he mutters furtively into his phone: "Luly, call me when you get this message."

Nina tells Erick he needs to go home and take care of his son.  He says he can't.  Why doesn't she call Consuelo?  She loves to be with the kid and he's really tired of caring for him.  Nina can't believe what he's saying.  But he thinks her concern is exaggerated.  The boy is too young to remember anything – now when he's three or four years old, that will be a different story!

"Good.  Then I'll leave him with Consuelo – because she DOES love him and will give him the care he deserves."

Erick is left alone, shaking his head, an incredulous smile playing over his simian features.

The Cousins Catch up

David updates Gaby on Jorge's spurned proposal and his recent visit to Regina.  Of course he still loves her (and here, David is getting a little testy), but he can't force her hand. Anyway, it's too late.  And the fact is, things are going well with Daniela.  La quiero mucho

Pero no la amas, points out Gaby.  (And she's what, the ninety-seventh person to point that out?  Now it's The Patio that's getting testy.)

David says he's made his decision and that's that.  Then remembering that his cousin is actually something besides his personal pañuelo de lágrimas, he thinks to ask how she is doing.  It turns out she's not so hot.  She and Franco have been fighting a lot.

Luisita lucks out (They could have left her with Caridad)

Consuelo and Miguel care for Luisita while Justino and Clara are on their honeymoon.  When the little girl asks where the baby is, Consuelo says simply that he doesn't live with her anymore.  Miguel deftly changes the subject by sending the Jenga block tower crashing down. Luisa is having so much fun that she asks them to be her godparents when she makes her first communion.

Trust me, cousin

Gaby tells David that she and Franco have some serious problems.  Both of them are affected by her fertility issues.  But she also suspects that Franco is having an affair, though she has no proof.  And there's something else, she says: "Someone kissed me."  And what does she think about that? She says she knows it was wrong and it's not going to happen again... but the thing is, she liked that kiss a lot.

A Decent Proposal

Arturo has summoned Erick to his office for two reasons.  First, he wants him to know that he has terminated all ties to Ashmore.  And second, since it is obvious that Erick's son annoys him, he is prepared to offer him shares in the company if he will let Consuelo have custody of the child.

Sensible advice

If Gaby isn't happy with Franco, David tells her, she should end things with him and give herself some time.  Then, if it feels right to her, she can start a new relationship.  But being with two people at the same time can only lead to suffering.

Gaby is grateful for the sympathetic ear and sensible advice.  Now she has to go.

When she opens the door to leave, Julia is standing on the threshold.  Aunt and niece greet one another warmly and Julia sends her love to little Diego since Gaby is heading for the foundation.

Now that Julia and David are alone, it's time for him to be on the receiving end of some advice:  If he still loves Regina, he should go after her.

David tells her that his father gave him the same advice.  He said he doesn't want him to do what she did – he doesn't want David to marry someone he doesn't love.

Erick takes umbrage

He is offended that his father is trying to buy him off so he can give his son to "that woman."  But Arturo knows that Erick is only interested in using the baby to get at Consuelo.  "You don't love him.  You love money.  And you'd step on anybody to get it.  Think about it – this money may be the only thing that makes you happy."

"That's what you think of me?"

"Yes.  I'm disappointed in you.  And I doubt you can win back my trust."

Yes, but this is completely different!

Julia begins: "Your father suffered for many years because it took him a long time to win my love." David says he knows that.  It's just that he believes that his relationship with Daniela is completely different from that of his parents.  For one thing, they share respect and affection.  And whether Julia believes it or not, they have a lot in common.

"But there's no love," says Julia tearfully.

David stands and so does she.  He thanks her for coming and for being concerned about him.  He's going to figure out a way to be happy with Daniela.  Everyone thinks she's clinging to him, but nobody sees how he is clinging on to her.  The fact is that he depends on her too.

Julia only hopes he isn't making a mistake because she doesn't want to see him suffer.

David is left alone to think about what she has said.

A deal with the devil

Erick and Ashmore sit together at a table in the bar.  Ashmore checks his phone and verifies that Erick has deposited the promised sum into his account.  They agree to meet the following day to work out the details of their agreement.  Before leaving, they each pull a dollar bill from their wallets and exchange them as a token that a deal has been struck.  (The American Way!)  Then the Ash excuses himself: he has to meet the person who will make their deal possible.

As soon as Ashmore walks away, Erick pulls out his phone:  "Luly, are you ready?"

Ashmore is talking into his own phone: "Thanks, Franco.  Now I have the money for our business.  Tomorrow, if all the documents are in order, I'll bring you a cashier's check.  Perfect."

Now Ashmore spots Daniela and Luly walking into the bar, although the women don't appear to see him.

Daniela is upset when she realizes they are meeting Erick.  If she'd known, she wouldn't have agreed to come along.  But Erick stands up, puts on a smarmy grin and kisses his "favorite sister," begging her to forgive him.  Luly chimes in, pleading with her friend not to be mad anymore.  Dani seems about to give in, though she promises to give Erick a piece of her mind first.  [Me vas a oír, ¿ey?]  But she has to go to the bathroom.

Luly sits down with Erick.

Ashmore follows Daniela into the bathroom, sneaks up on her from behind and puts a hand over her mouth.  "Surprise!" says the evil gringo as she struggles in vain to free herself. "Surprise!"  We see white powder around her mouth...

This doesn't look good.

Oh man. Did Erick really hand his sister over to Ashmore? Yikes!

An excellent recap. Thank you NovelaMaven. I loved all the headings, but the one that was my personal favorite was: <\i>"Luisita lucks out (They could have left her with Caridad)".<\i>

I can't believe we were forced to listen to David having the SAME conversation with THREE different people. Well, make that FOUR if we count that he talked to Regina about it too.

I'm sitting at the Daniela table, but I have to admit that she was pretty nasty and hurtful to Regina. I'm glad that Nina called her out on her behavior towards her sister.

Speaking about Daniela, things aren't looking good for her. That cliffhanger was scary! But it looks like we are finally moving along.

My pleasure, Mauricio. And you're right, it does look scary. If you're at the Daniela table, I think you should light a candle.

Gracias, NovelaMaven. Now the roller coaster has finally gone out of the gate.

Yes, it does look like Erick handed Daniela over to Assmore. If that is the case I wish we had been in on it because he will deny it uphill and down dale. That will push him into a lower depth of Dante's Inferno. It will also devastate the rest of the family.

I hope Consuelo changes the baby's name in the finale. After this I doubt Nina would argue with her about it.

Assmore (can we come up with a worse name for him?) deserves to die at this point. I'd still rather see Erick in prison with the nastiest cellmate in the place. Let's see:

-- selling out GM
-- murder of MonZorrat
-- kidnapping of own infant son (leading to theft of cash and jewelry)
-- rape of ex-wife, with mixed ongoing threats to follow
-- dirty business deals with Assmore
-- possible assistance in Daniela's "escape" from rehab
-- possibly handing Daniela over to Assmore

Death is too easy for this piece of garbage. Let him rot in prison alone, disowned by both parents and remaining siblings.

Thank You NovelaMaven. Yeah, gimme some anvils.

Dani was just fresh from being her usual little smelly bryotch to her sister.
I have suspected all along that she has not changed, just changed the mask she wears.

Good riddance, enjoy your reward Dani, you never had me fooled as you did a whole table.

NovelaMaven, many superlatives come to mind, so let me just say splendid (although you deserve them all).

"She nods and smiles weakly. [Or maybe she just has gas]", "And the Award for Best Kiss Goes To..."(oh NovelaMaven, I wholeheartedly concur!), "Bitter Gall", "Daniela narrows her exquisitely painted cat's eyes and shows her claws" and "Maybe by the time he's done, she won't be spouting stupidities" were among many favorites.

"This thing? [¿Esto?] That's what Julia is calling their relationship?" Oh no she didn't!? We realized you didn't love Arturo but you devalued the relationship to the most inconsequential possible level. Your "Regina and David – who really love each other – can't be together because of us" added salt to the open wound. Cold Julia, very cold.

I readily admit, I did a little swooning last night. Augie is THE total package. Intelligent ("My help with the foundation is completely separate, right?), kind (“He returns her smile, reminding her that when he has a wife, he plans to adopt five kids), and caring. Having those beautiful blue eyes does not hurt either. Sigh.

Clara and Justino must have some important part to play before this is over. Perhaps they were showing us their arrival so we could catch our breath between watching Franco coldly betray his wife and Erick bring about the demise of his father.

Arturo has Erick's number and it was tragic to see him have to pay him off to ensure his grandson's safety and happiness.

I am firmly ensconced at the Die Erick Die table but I'm not convinced (yet) he lured Dani there. I don't think he had any idea what Ashmore would do. I hope Dani survives (I will light a candle for her - Mauricio, are you with me?)

Thank you NovelaMaven, I'm disheartened but am relieved that there is likely to be a happy ending for Gaby and Augustin. At least one and hopefully not the only one.

Diana

I also hope Daniela survives. The loss of two children would be too much punishment for Nina considering the depth of evil the other one has gotten into. However, I can't wait to see her face when she finds out what her simian child has done. He's been building up to be on the receiving end of major maternal wrath; the diaper incident was the calm before the storm.

It finally appeard there are some pinholes in Gaby's eyelids. Come on Gaby, you are avoiding seeing that you are married to a monster. Auggie might be the only one who can save you. Not Eladio or Caridud or Julia. They all remind me of these dim bulbs here in FloriDuh who own King Cobra snakes as pets and are "shocked" on their deathbed that their pet turned on them. Hello....

Gaby liked the kiss, her little hand even started creeping around the back of his neck. It is just a matter of time and your salvation can begin. Dr. Augustin will heal you. For a full recovery you will probably be in bed for a while.... hehehe

After what Francofurter has done and is doing, I don't even considewr hers a valid marriage.

I wondered whether his failure to disclose about Marintia can be grounds for annulment but realized as I typed this that even he didn't know that she didn't have an abortion. However, she could get a divorce and take him to the cleaners not only over the ongoing infidelity but the theft of her inheritance. What would he do with this money if he went to prison (assuming it isn't his Karmageddon to die)?

UA they have painted some of these characters so evil that it is hard to come up with a fitting punishment without seeming evil and sadistic too. The usual cure is like a cancer, just cut it out, dispose of it and hope it doesn't come back. But fro Erik and Franco death simply seems too kind.

We haven't seen any anything from Gaby. Who knows what she will do when the truth comes out. Will she go sit in a corner at the foundatin and cry, or come out of the kitchen with a BIG knife? I haven't a clue.

NovelaMaven you rock.

"There's still dessert left," he says impishly"

"We're all grateful for Simona's entrance at this point because it forces Julia to stop blathering..."

"Daniela eats Meow Mix for breakfast"

How many more times can the bb of a brain Julia has roll around in her cranium? It makes me dizzy and surely Dr Phil wants to jump off a bridge.

Having read the best seller from the Friendzone to the Endzone and implementing the tactics within religiously, poor Jorge loses while fellow orbiters Manuel and Agustin win, why? Is it Jorge's tough luck Regina's ex is not as vile as the other two only sleeping with her sister? Golly, love is a game of inches.

Good morning, amigos! So here we are, rumbo al gran final, and the air is crackling with evil. The undisputed villains of the piece, those with no redeeming value whatsoever – Franco, Erick and Ashmore – seem bent on mutual destruction, but not before they take a few innocents with them. Not my favorite time in any TN, but I guess I'm in the minority here. [Anyone care to join me at the Scandinavian Justice System table? Skol!]

Urban, I'm afraid you're right about Chimp Boy and his record of foul deeds. If he has indeed sold out Daniela to Ashmore, that would be particularly dastardly since she is probably the only person prepared to forgive him. Sure, Nina loves him, even if she has begun to get a glimpse of his rotten soul. But Erick and Dani have always stood together... until now.

Kirbo, I believe Daniela is really trying to change. But as we are frequently reminded in TN land (and maybe in life too): La gente no cambia.

Diana, thank you so much!

"I am firmly ensconced at the Die Erick Die table but I'm not convinced (yet) he lured Dani there. I don't think he had any idea what Ashmore would do."

I hope you're right. My impression was that Erick did lure Dani to the bar knowing that she would cross paths with Ashmore, but didn't exactly know (I hope) what Ashmore was planning to do to her.

tofie, thank you! You sent me googling to find out if Friend Zone to Endzone was something you were making up. Now I find out it's a real thing. Hah!

"How many more times can the bb of a brain Julia has roll around in her cranium?"
hahaha! But somebody pointed out the other day (sorry, I can't remember who it was) that Julia is stuck in confundida mode because her decision is so central to the plot and therefore is being dragged out until the very end. [This is never my favorite way to resolve a story. I always like to see the protagonistas reconciled and forming a united front against the baddies, at least for a few weeks.]

The announcements at the end of last night's show said that there would be a 3-hour El Fin. Would these run one right after another on the same evening or on three successive evenings?

Gobluefan, they announced the 3-hour final episode would air on Thursday, April 28, from 7 to 10 pm Central time (8-11 in the east).

OK, that should mean that nothing will be deleted. There is a listing for the series on Friday at 9PM which will probably be a retrospective. Don't know if I will be able to see that.

Wonderful recap as always!! I didn't see the white powder around Dani's mouth. I think it's on dvr so I'll have to take a look.

I hope Assmore screws over Erick and Franco. Not sure what everyone is getting out of the deal, they all love money, so we will have to wait and see. The fact that he's walking around with a bag full of cocaine in his pocket is crazy.

Diana, I agree with you that I don't think Erick set up Dani. I think Erick still wants Dani to give her shares to him and he is probably back trying to convince her to do so.

I will miss the big finale as I will be in transit to a wedding. I won't get to see it until Monday when I get back! :( Won't be able to discuss with my patio peeps.

Wow, Novelamaven, I was happy to have one of your tasty recap treats to read with my coffee and cornflakes this morning .

Here we go ,galloping toward the three hour finale...yikes..three hours.

Anvils, anvils, we want some anvils. Does anyone here remember the pie cart concept? I think that years ago someone (Julie, perhaps) coined the term as a telenovela ambled toward the end . Sergio Sendel (of cellphone throwing fame) was hit by a car or truck or something as his anvil.

So. The light begins to dawn on our Gaby when she sees the bed has not been slept in (evidently Frankfurter never makes the bed in the a.m.) and himself strolls in wearing his outfit from the previous day. I am surprised that Gaby noticed. Maybe she picks out his clothes every day.

Auggie...WINNING! ..but I was a little disappointed in the kiss. I have pretty high kissing standards formed during a youth filled with lots of spin the bottle. However , I like dessert . Go, Auggie.

Go Auggie...Go Auggie...Go Auggie...is it so bad to steal our little amoeba from evil Francofurter? Methinks not.

A win win all the way around. My money is that with Auggie her brain will come out of hibernation too.

NovelaMaven, thanks so much for your great recap. There were so many great lines: (the one Mauricio quoted) - "Luisita lucks out (They could have left her with Caridad)"; "And you're STILL confiding in Humberto and considering his advice?" (and one of Diana's favorites) "And the Award for Best Kiss Goes To..." I won't list anymore as I will just do a cut and paste the rest of the recap.

ITA w/you regarding the simian boy: Since Erick is as dumb as rocks, he may not have known Assmore's end game but Erick definitely brought them into contact.

Diana - with you at the Die Erick Die table though as I note below I want a fate for Erick where he has to live longer with the consequences of his evil actions. Also I like your observation that Clara and Justino will play a role as the tn closes showing what good parenting is particularly since most of the parents in this tn have been all shades of bad. I just hope Daisynjay's well informed guess about Luisita possibly being involved in some crazy last minute tn plot is not true because its distressing.

UA - ITA that Connie needs to rename the baby.

Though I've never been part of the Daniela table, I'm vexed that it seems she's going die. Yes, she's a spoiled entitled brat who loves tormenting her sister but the real treacherous men in this tn may not die. In fact, I would prefer that the baddies don't die and have to go to jail as UA described. Decades in jail as pretty boys would be a start for the punishment they deserve.

Novela Maven: Yes, Erick pretty much handed Daniela to Ashmore on a silver platter & put the final nails in her coffin!

Karen: Now we officially await the devastating rippling effects of Daniela's likely death tonight as the Montenegro's are imploding before our very eyes!

Dani isn't a baddie just a tragic, rudderless young adult that has to die so Regina won't obsess when David is fool enough to take her back. I don't think it's fair but Regina is the princess. Did Jorge ever anger Ashmore? Jorge is another unwanted knat that will have to disappear?

Gabi noticed the unmade bed and quickly jumped to infidelity because she had just kissed Agustin. Otherwise she would have thought nothing.

Carvivlie, it's hard to believe your friends don't have the courtesy to postpone their wedding so you can see the gran final with the rest of The Patio. :D

I'm glad you enjoyed the recap. I'm sure Ashmore intends to screw over Franco and Erick, but let's hope he never has the chance to enjoy his profits. (But let's also hope that Erick and Franco have a chance to realize they've been had!)

Susanlynn, what can I say? I yield to the voice of experience. I guess I wasn't thinking of technical expertise so much as "awwwwwwww-ness" (not to be confused with "awesomeness" of course).

Karen, thanks so much!

Yes, definitely, the baby needs a new name, especially in this story where names have weighed so heavily.

"Though I've never been part of the Daniela table, I'm vexed that it seems she's going die."

I agree. Of course, we don't really know what her fate will be. Maybe she'll survive and experience some kind of epiphany in the process. That would be nice.

Steve, you're right that the Montenegros are crumbling, but I haven't given up hope for Daniela.

We haven't had a tragic death on this show yet (Maribel, we barely knew ya and Montse was no prize) so I think Dani has to die.

Ya know, Carvivlie, we have had a smorgasbord of anvil-worthy activity, and no anvils. Some of our dear creeps have earned at least two or three anvils, in my humble opinion, though that is not really possible. A lot of people here don't want poor xxx to die. I say let the death destruction and dismemberment begin. We have sat here for months salivating over the thought of some anvils, and now that anvil time is near, our stomachs are weak? Bring it.

Agree Kirbo. Erick and Franco have earned multiple anvils. I'm hoping they both go to jail for a long time. A lot of the other characters have been suffering and I think they are going to receive even more pain before all is said and done. I don't think we are going to get a happy ending for anyone.

Dear NovelaMaven et al. In all sincerity, this is one terrific show. We still do not know the end game and in a way that's to the credit of the writers. NM--your recaps never fail to entertain and instruct (in a lovely, non-threatening way...). Thank you for your dedication to this novela.

I'm sorry I haven't been able to contribute much since Un Camino began, but Horacio Pancheri is to DIE for in this one. His love interest, Paulina Goto is wholesome and nice. We're such a small group we only have one table. We serve Sweet Baboo drinks one night and Angostura Bitters the next--depending on who takes up the most screen time.

Have any of you considered the reasons why we got a two-day wedding on PyP, reception and honeymoon by non-lead couples (aside from a certain insider relationship)? Could it be this IS the only BODA we're going to get? Everyone else goes a separate way to meet their demise, make right decisions, wrong decisions, start new careers, end up in jail, move to Monterrey, eat the turtle? The non-wedding possibilities are endless with these folks.

I'm staying tuned in till it says FIN across the screen. Then I'll probably shake my head, no!

Yeah this aint exactly Mary Poppins.

Maybe one day they will do a TN where everyone starts out kinda bad, then gets horrible, then reforms and have happy endings. That would be a good vehicle for Public Service Announcements sprinkled all through it too.

Meanwhile, I wait for Gaby to carve Francofurter like a Christmas turkey, and Nina to turn into a hatchet murderer and Art to have a nervous breakdown.

That would be monumentally unrealistic. Major elements of this one are seriously unrealistic, but I will wait for the finale discussion to get more into that.

"Decades in jail as pretty boys would be a start for the punishment they deserve". Well said Karen...ITA!

tofie, I don't know if Jorge and Ashmore have crossed paths (?) It does appear poor Dani will be his revenge on Arturo. However, I remembered last night that Ashmore also vowed revenge on Eladio. That has me concerned. I wonder what and who he has in mind in that nasty little brain of his??

Diana

Diana, I hope if Ashmore does take revenge on Eladio it is through Franco and not David. Franco can use the anvil.

Gracias, querida NovelaMaven....So many little delightful nuggets in this one, but my favorite was clearly

How long is that in turtle years?

(When our adult son came back home to live with us, the 6-year-old twin boys next door were clearly puzzled. Why was this obvious grownup living with mom and dad? How old is he? they asked. Twenty-six. Still puzzled. Finally one of them, in an attempt to make sense of it all, piped up, "How old is that in dog years?" A very funny moment in a rather distressing situation.

And you managed to make lots of funny moments in your recap of this rather dreary and menacing episode.

Also loved:

Glad Wrap or Love?

Daniela eats Meow Mix for breakfast.

[Regina] annoying as hell but muy muy noble

[and us, god help us, and us]

and especially sharp was describing the therapist office as a

contemporary confessional

Really missing the presence of a wise, spiritual priest in this one, but clearly they're trying to modernize these traditional telenovelas. And had the dull-eyed, slack-jawed, short skirted Gaby confided her illicit and much enjoyed kiss to a priest, rather than her equally slack-jawed primo, I'm afraid she would have come in for a righteous tongue-lashing. And not the fun kind.

On the boda/honeymoon it still just seems like an opportunity for Fiesta Americana product placement. Sure hope the company put in a hefty bit of cash for the production schedule.

NovelaMaven, I'll join you at the Swedish justice system table, and in the meantime thanks again for a clever, deftly written recap of these terminally tedious doings.

Hi, Anita...I cannot even stand tuning in to UN Camino to see my sweet baboo. I surf half-hearted!y in and out of PyP waiting for the end...como sea. My own personal telenovela (the title of which is "People in My Orbit") My escape has become primarily obsessing over the hot Scot.

After tuning in to this show a couple of weeks back, some observations:

1. One thing I'm not crazy about is that, seemingly, Eladio is the one character getting to actually grow and kindasorta adult while everybody else to various degrees is dragging or being dragged through some sort of emotional muck. (Particularly Arturo or Julia, it appears.) I can't help thinking that this is/was totally deliberate and entirely because it's Fernando Colunga and he has to be The Good Guy, even if it's later than sooner, but it still bugs me.

2. Up until Obdulio finally explained what happened at his and Petra's old job, I thought Petra was a whining megabitch whom Obdulio didn't deserve to be sprung on. After he explained it, I thought Petra was a whining megabitch whom Obdulio really didn't deserve to be sprung on--at least not after however much time had passed since he got her fired. Then again, considering the oddly dour-bordering-on-grim tone of the novela (it reminds me of my first serious novela watch, the depressing Mujeres engañadas) she's a necessary bit of comic relief...if an annoying one.

3. Every day that goes by without someone straight up kicking Franco, Erick, and/or Ashmore in the face pisses me off. Obviously they're not all going to be hit by a bus...which then explodes...then gets hit by a plane...then a meteor...and finally sucked into a sinkhole...so all I want is for them to be kicked in the face.

Judyb...yes, I am weary of the Fiesta America plugs. Basta. And....adult children are a challenge , n'est-ce pas? One never stops worrying and wondering and trying to help while biting one's tongue. Been there..done that ..wearing the t-shirt . Your wise words were "It's their journey" Have you heard from Sylvia lately? I miss her. I also miss Sara and Kat.

Hi, Bill...I think that I prefer your bus- plane-meteor-sinkhole scenario. In my opinion, FC is always the good guy even when he is the bad guy .

Gotta go and identify waffles to prove that I am not a robot..a robo..a rob..a to...aaaaaaaa

NovelaMaven - my favorite (How long is that in turtle years?) I had tears in my eyes.

I'm with UrbanA...death is way too good for Erick. He pays for nothing in that scenario.

Art, Julia just told you that Regina and David actually love each other. Dude, dignity!

Although I despise Franco in every way, I have to admit that I like him and Marintia together. LOL! (Call me crazy...girl you crazy!, but I really do)

I must have fallen asleep because I don't remember Julia at David's, the bar, etc. I know I started watching and as a matter of fact, I must have fallen asleep after Nina and Erick spoke.

Thanks again for making those words clear because I can't stand the CC's so I turn them off and just try to figure it out.

Anita, it's always a pleasure to see you around here. I'm glad you've been enjoying the recaps when you find the time. (At this point, I can only follow one show at a time, and not only because of time constraints.)

"In all sincerity, this is one terrific show."

Yes! The fact that we are all so engaged and that we take the trouble to defend our points of view is pretty good evidence that this show isn't easily ignored. I'm really glad I decided to watch it.

"Have any of you considered the reasons why we got a two-day wedding on PyP, reception and honeymoon by non-lead couples (aside from a certain insider relationship)? Could it be this IS the only BODA we're going to get?"

Ah. What an interesting thought. Stay tuned...

Thank you, querida JudyB! I'm glad you found something to enjoy in the recap.

"And had the dull-eyed, slack-jawed, short skirted Gaby confided her illicit and much enjoyed kiss to a priest, rather than her equally slack-jawed primo, I'm afraid she would have come in for a righteous tongue-lashing."

Maybe. But if the priest were acquainted with odious and increasingly crazy-eyed Franco, he might well have given her roughly the same advice as her cousin (one at a time, sweetie) and begun working on the annulment proceedings.

Oh yes, product placement up the Wazoo. [Actually, I enjoyed the little Querétero plug and found myself wondering about rates at the hotel.]

Kendra, thanks!

"Although I despise Franco in every way, I have to admit that I like him and Marintia together."

I agree that they are perfectly matched. In fact, so perfectly that it makes me worry about little Mateo's genetic endowment. :D

I can't imagine another wedding unless their is a time jump. I could see Connie and Miguel getting married...who else? umm Gaby and Augie. I just can't see David and Reg together if Dani dies... If Julia marries Art I'll vomit.

Kendra, I'm kinda thinking Mari might be the one to bring down Franco. She is just as greedy as him so once/if he takes over GL she might kill him off, figuring her kid will inherit everything. Of course I really want Gaby to go all "Black Widow" and spew fire and daggers at him.

I noticed Julia had a bit of a backbone last night. How long do ya'll think it will last?

Thank you NM. Great recap!

well, the ducks are lining aim and the writers are about to take aim. Who goes down and who are the sacrificial lambs?

I couldn't believe that Erick would set up his sister. I want to believe there is an ounce of something in him that wouldn't be that mind-numbingly stupid and selfish, but then again. It definitely puts a whole new light on his version of what happened to Montse.

The Silver Fox does know how to charm a girl. Kept thinking...now these two would have been more fun to watch develop while Franco went more evil than Clara and Justino. Really messed that pariing up. And our dear gentleman does know how to woo a girl..food he cooked himself, be sweet to a child and an even sweeter smooch as the cherry on the whip cream.

Than we have Arturo...feels like a jerk. You are one. So seems appropo to me. Next.

So Dani OD's, but does she die? We do have to get the lovebirds back together, but lord so unnecessary to have it that way. So Dani is being clingy and snarky to her sibling right now...that means bump her off? Or I guess she's expendable goods to get the story moving.

still think Julia, if she survives, needs to just walk away from both these men. Artie has grown minimally in how he is with his kids, Eladio controls his temper better and is better with David, but neither has really ever owned past behavior. I love how the writers always have Art non-react to his folling around with Susanna causing the pregnancy like " oh, that's past...;let's move on.

Honestly, way too much to wrap up and my guess is will be fast, messy and non-satisfying. Could have done without the honeymoon scenes.

Daisynjay

Love the recap. Thank you muchisimo.

Erick definitely set up Dani and used dumb Luly's infatuation with him to do so. When Ass got up to make the call, he (Chango-face) immediately called Luly and asked something like "are you guys on your way?" Or "are you guys almost here?"

I believe it didn't take much for Assmore to convince the dimwit that he wanted to see Dani for fun or to apologize to her, but since he's been banned from their house and office, etc etc ... I don't think it even entered Ericks cabeza de piedra that he means to hurt her.

As to Julia's remark about Regina and David "really" loving each other, I took it to mean as opposed to Regina and Jorge or. David and Dani, but Mr. "It's all about me" Arturo naturally jumped to the wrong conclusion and got all indignant on her so she just went, "Whatever, Dude" and didn't bother to clarify it.

NovelaMaven and Diana, I'll light a candle for Daniela and set it at the Daniela table.

I'm at the Die Erick Die table as well, but I also don't think that he lured her there. I think it is just a coincidence and bad timing that she showed up there when Assmore was around.

Judy B: Gaby still has no ideat that Franco has been knocking up Marinita & that Mateo is his kid.

When she finds out, she's going to go all Cookie Lyon on Marinita, Franco & Caridad!

Thanks, NovelaMaven. Terrific recap. Glad you captured the nuance of Arturo and Julia's convo in detail because I missed out.

Goodness, all Julia had to do was follow through and tell Art she wasn’t in love with him anymore, but she blew it hiding behind "we can't let Regina and David suffer."

I'd much rather see Dani recovered than Regina and David walking down the aisle. David's second go-round with Dani -- and the return of his Mister Rogers sweater -- has taken the bloom off the rose for me.

Gaby and Augie were so wrong to kiss, but I do like Augie's boldness to go after what he wants. If Franco weren't a snake, Augie would've respected the marriage and kept his distance.

I too am thinking Erick didn't realize Ashburn would dope up Dani. Nobody knows that Dani's last coke was a gift from Ashburn, so I don't think Erick realized Ashburn had violence in mind. After the fact though, I'm sure Erick will do whatever is most cowardly.

Luisita's scene with Miguel and Consuelo was precious, but showing Justino and Clara on their honeymoon seemed pointless. The newlyweds haven't even mentioned to each other that they know about Franco/Mateo Jr. But maybe they're still hanging around to hurl this story forward somehow?

NovelaMaven,

Masterful... excellent in every possible way. Like everyone else, I especially love this:

"How long is that in turtle years?"

Thanks.

Carlos

Thank You NovelaMaven--What a nice read this morning. LOL---So Julia takes out the oranges and apples and tries to explain. I must admit that I'm still a little confused over this whole thing. Did Julia finally come to realize that she had once loved Arturo but after Susanna--well, no more. Or did she say that she still loves Art but for the sake of the children, she's now calling it quits?

Novela---Your cat's eyes and cat's claws were another good line. A reformed Daniela?
No, not really. Daniela still has no love for her "noble" sister Regina. I don't want to see Daniela killed off. Being a rotten sister doesn't warrant being taken out by the "evil" gringo.

The truth comes out---I was getting depressed and upset with the seemingly endless
miles and miles of negative comments. No movement, the show's going nowhere, No one can make a decision, time wasted on unimportant people (I like them) no anvils, when will our suffering stop? (when you change the channel) etc. I enjoyed this show at the start, in the middle and now that it is about to end, I'm still enjoying it--every minute of it. Thank you Anita. To quote you---"In all sincerity
this is one terrific show.

I will join those that think that Erick didn't or doesn't know what Ashmore has in mind for Daniela. Erick has his own dirty agenda but does he, would he sacrifice his favorite sister to achieve that agenda?

I have said it many times that I don't like Dani, however I am not wanting her demise, although that may be just what we get tonight. Couldn't Dani just get offered a job in Spain that would be too good to turn down? I would wave good-by, adios, have a good time in Spain.

Steve---It looks like the death count is about ready to begin. Who will take Ashmore out? Eladio?

must see tv
the gringo

Yes, NovelaMaven - I too am worried about Mateo. However, I said it on a prediction time jump of mine a couple of weeks ago that Erick Jr. and Mateo will be the NEW Art and Eladio fighting over...hmmm, Clara and Justino's daughter - not Luisita, but the one that they are about to make on this honeymoon.

Yeah, I like that! I see it happening.

Thank you NovelaMaven, what a great recap all they way around! Daniela eats Meow Mix for breakfast had me laughing out loud. So true! I have grown a soft spot for Dani but she really was very catty with her sister. I'm glad Nina said something to her. Unfortunately I think Dani is headed for a very bad trip courtesy of Assmore. I don't know whether Erick set his sister up for Assmore, but if he did, this is beyond vile.

Can Arturo just die? I can not express how much I HATE this character. He is so damn pushy, and arrogant and did I mention how much I HATE him? He refuses to listen to what Julia is saying and what she is not saying, which is "I love you" I don't know how Julia can stand to be around a man who just never shuts up long enough for her to say what is in her heart, and further dismisses how HE has hurt his children by pursuing Julia. DIE Arturo. DIE!! #IHateHimSoMuch

Julia has been in therapy for how long now? She may have come to some realizations about her father and men in general, but what she has failed to do is grow a back bone. If she had one she would have already told Assturo to shove it,and get the f' out of her life and mean it. Then she would have packed a suitcase and moved already. She keeps talking about doing her own thing, and finding her own path, yet she is still on the same damn road she was on when this TN started. She hounds Eladio about everything he does wrong, but owns none of her mistakes (playing head games w/both men). She has not really grown much from my perspective, the only thing that has changed is her marital status and employment. #MoveOnJulia #WeAreAllTired

Gaby/Auggie, I'm not feeling the way this is starting. It's an emotional affair no matter how you slice it. Aug needs to slow it down. He's no better than Assturo with his chasing of a married woman. It's not cool and regardless of what Franco is doing, it doesn't make Aug's behavior right. Gaby is married, she needs to put up some boundaries and Aug needs to respect them.

It's time for Turtleboy to find a pond and go far away. His screen time is pointless and painful. Jorge is not a strong character, he was never a good rival to David. I'm reminded of Renato and Cristobal from Sombra. The two were strong characters and I felt myself pulled by Renato often even though I knew it would be Aldonza/Cristobal in the end. I've never once been pulled by Jorge, he's just too much of a dud. There's nothing special about him he had no chem with Regina and he never once made me care about him. What a waste of what could have been a viable triangle.

Fabian Pizzorno/Ashmore is doing a great job. He wasn't much when he started, but he's really chewing up his scenes with gusto! I felt a chill with the "Surprise", his voice his face. I think there will be more victims. He's the real cold blooded deal.
#BeVeryAfraid

gringo, I'm always glad you are here and that you enjoy every episode.

Anita always cuts to the heart of the matter with grace and eloquence, doesn't she? "We still do not know the end game and in a way that's to the credit of the writers" is very true.

I have been faithfully watching TNs for over 8 years and while I've never been tempted to sneak ahead and see how the finale ends, I am now. It's taking a great deal of restraint as each episode shatters what I thought might happen and brings a slew of new possibilities and problems.

The acting has been stellar all the way around and the comments always fresh and fun.

Delilah, you could very well be right about Ashmore. Hurting Dani would only solve one of his vengeance problems - Arturo. I'm still wondering what he has planned for Eladio.

Diana

You're welcome, Daisynjay.

" love how the writers always have Art non-react to his folling around with Susanna causing the pregnancy like " oh, that's past...;let's move on."

I think that's a great point – I can't remember Arturo ever seriously coming to terms with the way he betrayed Julia. I was glad she called him on it last night.

Thanks, Anon 1:43! I interpreted Erick's part in the Ashmore/Dani encounter the way you did. As for Julia's implied comparison when she talked about David and Regina "really" loving each other, well, sure, she may have been thinking of David and Daniela as two who don't. But it's not a stretch to imagine that she was also thinking about herself and Arturo.

Niecie, Thanks for the nice words.

"Goodness, all Julia had to do was follow through and tell Art she wasn’t in love with him anymore, but she blew it hiding behind "we can't let Regina and David suffer."

That will come as a relief. (Well maybe not to Arturo).

"After the fact though, I'm sure Erick will do whatever is most cowardly."

Oh yeah. Count on it.

Carlos, as always, it is entirely my pleasure. I'm honored that you enjoyed the recap and took the time to let me know. Thank you.

Gringo, you are very welcome!

"The truth comes out---I was getting depressed and upset with the seemingly endless
miles and miles of negative comments."

As much as we love to poke fun at the show, lots of us continue to enjoy it very much. Hey, pull up a chair and sit with me, Mauricio and Diana. Maybe Anita will hang out with us when she has a little time...

Oh Kendra, I hope we're both wrong about Mateo (and Consuelo's baby whom I refuse to name). I just hate these "Bad Seed" kind of stories.

Delilah, thanks for treating us to another of your fun comments. I hadn't really considered it, but you're right about the Ashmore actor – he is positively chilling these days.

I'm not quite with you on Arturo. He has behaved very badly at times, but not always. There's enough nuance to make him interesting. A little insight on his part would be nice though. :)

Delilah,

"...regardless of what Franco is doing, it doesn't make Aug's behavior right."

I'm certainly convinced of this but I'm afraid there are many more who for whatever reason, have no problem with any of the unpleasant things that Agustín has done. David was spot on with his advice to Gabriela.

gringo,

"I must admit that I'm still a little confused over this whole thing."

I doubt that you are any more confused over this whole thing than Julia herself is.

By the way, as I mentioned the other day, something that you and I have in common is how much we are thoroughly enjoying this show.

Carlos

RE: Auggie and Gaby vs Francofurter. Maybe not ideal. Consider that bombing another country back to the stone ages is frowned upon too.

But if they bomb you first, well then you are given a pass if you retaliate.

Franco dropped the first 50 bombs. Your turn Gaby, and let Auggie help.

The only argument is what if you don't KNOW they are bombing you.

Something that has puzzled and fascinated me is how in the heck is Franco getting away with accumulating vast amounts of Eladio's company. It appears to be a closely held family corporation and generally in such situations any time stocks change hands the other current stockholders are aware of what is taking place and usually have the right of first refusal. In any event you would think that as major shareholder Eladio would be acutely aware of what is going on. Franco and Marcos must be brilliant criminals to be able to pull this off undetected.

Carlos

Carlos you are 100% correct about stock movement alerts. That is another of this show's 800 pound gorillas.

Carlos: If they would have us believe that Franco is buying GLA with the proceeds of Gaby's Sketchers factory minus what he gave Gaby, it is a stretch. Given GLA is building massive resort hotels, not bicycle seats or the such.

You really do have to suspend disbelief w/regard to Franco's business dealings. While he most likely has acquired a great deal of knowledge and developed shrewd business skills working alongside Eladio; There's no way a businessman of Eladio's caliber is not aware/has someone who keeps him apprised of movement regarding his company/stocks.

I'm hoping that somehow Eladio has been aware and is letting Franco hang himself. Whatever the outcome, it's going to be ugly for Franco. Not only is he double crossing his father, now he's crawling into bed with Ashmore. It's going to be bad for both Erick (who really is no match for anyone, let alone Ashmore) and Franco.

I really am digging this TN. I can't wait for tonight's ep!

I just read last nights recap. Did assmore force that stuff down her throat? Cause he did say he would take what arturo loved most. And her sorry ass brother was no help. Theres not much to say about this episode, cuz it really took a nosedive for the worst. The worst of the worst has come out.

NovellaMaven., good recap. Thanks.

He just put it on her face and mouth. He also put a big baq of white powder and pills in her purse. It is Dani's perogative to go back into the bath and commit suicide. The animal world equivalent of the wolves eating the sick and infirm/crazy ensuring that they do not reproduce. Dani has a choice.

NovelaMaven, sorry I'm late to the party, I actually read your recap last night after watching on the west coast and it was worth staying up late for! Love your sharp lines and hilarious titles! "Glad wrap or love?" "Daniela eats Meox Mix for Breakfast" "Do turtles have chins?" Loved it! Thank you!

I'll grab a seat at the table with those like this novela. I will be sad when it's gone. I was very intrigued by the ads when it was going to premiere because it seemed very modern and different than the usual rags to riches stories. I admit I've become frustrated at times but that comes with the territory.

We all knew Daniela's demise was coming. I was sure of it when Art told Eric that he would disown him if anything happened to his sister. Although, I agree with those that don't think Eric handed Daniela to Assmore. I didn't see it that way. Eric's business with Assmore was done. My impression was that he asked Luly to take Daniela to meet with him so that they could reconcile. Assmore was just fortunate to be there and took the opportunity. I do think that it won't seem that way to Art and Nina who will blame Eric for Daniela's ill fate when for the 1st time he may be innocent.

Nina and Lily, thanks to both of you for stopping by. And Lily, welcome to the table! I'll miss this novela when it's gone too.

And since this is my last P and P recap, I wanted to thank everyone in this little community for reading and for sharing your thoughts here. It's been a pleasure and a privilege to be your Thursday recapper!

Ciao!

Well, I was wrong.
