TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): ¿Quién es Quién?, Eva la Trailera, El Señor de los Cielos #4, and Secretos: Week of April 4, 2016

Welcome to Page #1 (Monday edition) of the Telemundo y Más page, issued twice a week: Mondays at 3:00 PM and Thursdays at 8:00 PM.

Here are the current novelas (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):

 noon  - Secretos*
 8 PM  - ¿Quién es Quién?
9 PM  -  Eva la Trailera
10 PM -  El Señor de los Cielos #4
* Secretos will be shown at noon on Telemundo beginning this Monday, April 4.  It replaces Fatmagul, which ended last Friday.

Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation.  Since all the novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're discussing at the top of your post,  so people can more easily find discussions of the novela(s) they're following.

Telemundo is also re-broadcasting the hit telenovela La Reina del Sur on Saturdays and Sundays from 6-8 PM (EDT & PDT, 5-7 PM CDT).  For the moment, all the capítulos are also available on Telemundo's web site.  Some discussion and occasional recaps from the original broadcast can be found here.

TELEMUNDO...

Juanita- "Imperio" fell off the tv schedule a while back and was replaced with "Secretos", (which I confirmed today), I believe this is an 18 episode novela which will accommodate "La esclava blanca" starting in this spot on apr. 18th.

Telemundo

deb, thanks very much for this information. I had checked on the Telemundo a day or so ago, and it was still claiming that Imperio was going to start at noon on April 4. In fact, after reading your message, I just checked again, and it lists Imperio as being shown today at noon. ?? Did you (or anyone else) watch at noon to see what the new novela is? If so, please post that information in a message here.
Many thanks.

Telemundo

deb, I just re-read your message and my response. I may have misunderstood what you said. When you said you "confirmed today" that Secretos is being shown, did you mean you actually watched at least part of the show at noon? I took your "confirm" to mean that you checked again on the website, but if you actually saw "Secretos" at noon, that answers the question. (It doesn't answer the question about why Telemundo has someone in charge of their website who is asleep at the wheel.)

I missed looking at today's show, CA time, but my DirecTV guide says Secretos for tomorrow at noon, and for two hours. I really, really want to watch La Esclava Blanca but I don't know if I'm going to have the stamina. It appears that all the daytime novelas, whether on Univisón or Telemundo, are two hours long. I hate that!

Secretos aired at noon.

TELEMUNDO...

Juanita- yes Secretos was on tv today.

Thanks very much, novelera, Mauricio, and deb, for confirming that Telemundo is showing Secretos, not Imperio. I'm not sure whether I can edit the Telemundo y Más page now that it's up without wiping out the existing postings. I guess there'sone way to fing out. :-)

Telemundo

Success, I think. I figured out how to edit the Telemundo y Más page without zapping all the messages. Ah, progress!

Thanks again to everyone who let me know about Secretos having replaced Imperio.

Eva

They have just announced that starting April 18, Eva la Trailer will move to the 8 pm time slot. In the 9pm time slot will be La Esclava Blanca.

Eva

Arrgh, I knew I shouldn't try to send a message via my tablet. Eva certainly isn't a Trailer. :-)

Anyway, novelera, you may be able to watch La Esclava Blanca after all, since it will be shown for only one hour each day, not two, and right after Eva. I wonder whether this means that ¿Quién es Quién? will be over in just two weeks.

EVA LA TRAILERA – LUNES – Parte 1 de 2

At Mon-Sol Evencio remembers what happened right after Sofía was killed. Present are Pablo, the cop Fajardo, Armando and Marlene. Evencio says that Eva was the one who called the police and then the two of them stayed there until the police came. Evencio had to go out and let the police in. But he came right back and Eva was in the exact same position, holding Sofía’s body.

Fajardo tells Pablo that she could have gotten rid of the weapon when Evencio went to let the police in. Pablo agrees that this could be true.

Celeste thinks Noemi is pregnant because she keeps walking around with lemonade for nausea.

Noemi tells Adriana that she should tell her mother about the pregnancy. But Adriana doesn’t want to worry her with the trial coming up. She says there’s months before she’d show.

Martín and JJ continue their surveillance of Camila’s evil stepfather and see him picking up the girls from school. Viewerville grasps that something is off already because the girls say they don’t want to go with him. He calls them ternuritas de papá. The little one brusquely says he’s not their father.

Back at Mon-Sol Pablo has Fajardo use the stopwatch while he goes from where Sofía died to outside and beside the pallets where the weapon was found. He calls Fajardo when he arrives and is told it’s 75 seconds. Pablo says 75 segundas de ida y otra 75 de regresar. Fajardo blurts out that this proves it was impossible for Eva to have put the weapon out there. She can’t be the killer!

Outside Pablo finds what I can’t believe the LAPD couldn’t find, a huge bloody handprint where Chivo laid the knife for the cops to find. Fajardo comes out, sees this, and says this handprint is too large to be that of a woman.

La Alacrana is beside herself in her office, spitting venom at her brother for having screwed things up. She orders him to follow Evencio and give him a beatdown. AA just happens to have a ski mask on him at all times!

A policeman enters Casa Mogollón to tell them the tractor-trailer can’t be parked in a residential neighborhood. Eva is happy to move it. She calls Pablo and tells him to meet her at his house – that she has a surprise for him.

Fajardo says it’s confirmed by some crime scene guys that the handprint was that of a man as he put the knife between the pallets. Fajardo says that Eva is going to be free.

Esteban confronts Noemi with Celeste’s accusations. He doesn’t give her a chance to say anything. He doesn’t want rollos. [I know this word in context, but I looked it up. It refers to una persona, cosa o actividad pesada y fastidiosa.] Noemi sees that “Estebita” would not stand by her if she were pregnant and breaks it off with him.

Martín and JJ are in a bar discussing Evil Stepfather. We find out that Martín hasn’t had a drink since his wife died. JJ, surprisingly, is so outraged he wants to confront the guy or perhaps tell the mother of the girls. Martín reminds him they’re not cops and he could lose his PI license for doing something like that. Marisol shows up and agrees to help them. We get a hint of perhaps Marisol having experienced something like Camila.

La Alacrana comes to see Betty. Betty has canary feathers all around her mouth. She introduces LA to one Victor Olivares. [This guy was the gay servant in Marido en Alquiler and a good cop in Dueños del Paraíso.] Betty, smiling smugly, says that they were colleagues in law school and he will be the prosecutor in Eva’s new trial. She seems to think she can influence him.

EVA LA TRAILERA – LUNES – Parte 1 de 2

We see AA beating the crap out of Evencio. [I find this ridiculous. Evencio is a lot bigger than AA. Why didn’t he yank that burlap bag off his head and fight back?]

Pablo comes home, greets Diego, and then hears an air horn outside. He gets in, admires the tractor trailer and then puts some moves on the driver. They get into a bed behind the drivers seat (what about Diego?)

Pancho shows Bobby the microphone and flat out tells him that Robert was spying on him. He tells Bobby to show Robert the microphones and watch his face.

While Eva and Pablo are smooching in the back of the vehicle, Armando puts a gun through the window. He’s foaming at the mouth with jealousy that she’s about to have sex where she used to have it with him. He tells Pablo that Eva will never forget him; she’s only despechada (spiteful, having it on with Pablo to hurt him). Pablo retorts that he’s the despechado. Diego calls for his father from the lawn, distracting Armando. Pablo kicks the gun out of his hand, Eva retrieves it, and the fight is on – scaring Diego.

Eva convinces Diego they’re just playing and shoots the pistol in the air as part of the game, stopping the fight. Armando tells Eva he was her first. Eva retorts that it doesn’t matter who’s your first, but whom you end up with. Armando leaves, but not before saying she’ll think of him every time she gets in the trailer. Pablo and Eva calm Diego by getting him to imagine they were dinosaurs fighting.

Pablo shows a spark of jealousy. Armando’s words got to him. Eva blows up at him. ¡Es que a mí me cambiaron un principe por un sapo! (So they changed my prince into a frog!) She’s about to leave when Pablo carries her into the bedroom and they make love. Later she tells him that Armando wouldn’t hurt her. In his egotistical way, he loves her.

Said Armando goes to a strip club and gets a table dance right in the middle of the club. [I thought they did those things in private rooms.] AA finds him there, mentions the teiboleras [I love this English into Spanish usage.] to Marlene over the phone.

Evencio comes to Pablo’s house badly beaten and collapses.

Bobby comes and puts the microphones in the middle of Robert’s salad. He accuses Robert of spying and also of putting contaminants in the Panchopan sausages, making a lot of people sick. And that Los Mogollón are being sued for millions. Robert can’t keep up the nice daddy any more and starts yelling at Bobby. After Bobby leaves the room he tells Cinthia that este naco es nada nuestro. Cinthia reminds him of the inheritance.

Soraya overhears Celeste talking about what’s up with Noemi and she and Pancho confront Esteban.

Evencio ends up in the hospital. He tells Eva and Pablo he might end up keeping Carmencita company. He tells them the person who attacked him was masked and that he threatened him, saying he has to keep quiet and not testify at Eva’s trial.

General

Interesting news about La Esclava Blanca and the time change for Eva. I'm sort of surprised. I suppose this means the ratings for Quien can't be that good. It doesn't seem that it would end so quickly. It started after Eva. So, either they're going to cut lots and burn off the episodes or move it to a daytime slot.

Lately it's seemed that for Telemundo the 8:00 show has a fair amount of comedy in it and not as much sex. So Eva is kind of torrid for 8:00, but oh well.

I'm delighted that La Esclava Blanca will only be one hour. I'll probably DVR the episodes and do a marathon over the weekend because it's too hard to watch two novelas back to back, especially if I'm doing any recapping.

GENERAL

If Esclava is indeed going to prime-time, I'm glad it's gonna get a wider audience but I'm bummed my work schedule will not allow me to recap unless it's for Friday's episode. I really like Ana Harlen Mosquera, who was also in another novela de epoca I liked, La Pola, and apparently the kid protagonists stole the show. As it is, I won't be able to watch except on weekends when I'm not working.

I'm gonna check out Secretos on the Telemundo App to see if it's any good, since it's so short. Fatmagul has piqued my interest in Turkish dramas and I'll watch the first week of any Turkish drama to see if I like it.

Eva

Many thanks, novelera, for another terrific recap. I loved some of your remarks, such as "AA just happens to have a ski mask on him at all times!" and "Betty has canary feathers all around her mouth." (Somehow I can't see AA as ever having been a boy scout, but he seems to have taken to heart the boy scout motto "Be Prepared.")

And I greatly appreciate all the Spanish.

I had many of the same thoughts you did, for example, about Marisol's having perhaps experienced some kind of sexual abuse akin to Camila's. And even before Pablo and Armando started fighting, I was worried about Diego, picturing him perhaps wandering out into the street while Pablo and Eva were enjoying themselves in the trailer.

Betty is such a perra, it's hard to believe that the novela will have her carry to term a healthy baby. And I'm enough of a perra to be happy if/when she miscarries.

Telemundo

I have mixed feelings about Eva's moving to the 8 pm time slot. I suppose it will be useful when I do recaps. Other than that, though, I think I prefer the 9 pm slot. I'm just glad they didn't move it to 10 pm. And since the previews of Esclava look interesting, I may have a look, although I strongly prefer watching only one novela at a time. Novelera, I like your idea of recording Esclava and watching it on weekends.

I'm a bit surprised that ¿Quién? will apparently be sacrificed.

This comment has been removed by the author.

General

I'm surprised Quien? will be sacrificed too. I wonder what they'll do with it. Move it to afternoons?

Eva. Excellent and very witty recap, novelera! I too loved the "AA just happens to have a ski mask on him at all times." Actually, given Andy's incompetence, I wouldn't be a bit surprised. He probably keeps it in his back pocket. :) It's wonderful that Pablo has now proved Eva's innocence logistically and with the physical evidence of the handprint--but yeah, odd that the LA police didn't find it--of course that kind of screw-up is not unprecedented, especially if the police think they already have the guilty party. I hope Evencio stays strong and puts justice for Carmen and Sofía over his personal safety. The beating may have turned out to backfire, especially since Andy pretty much confessed to murder while doing it. It serves Esteban right that both Noemí and Soraya are in his case for being cowardly about a personal commitment. Wonder if this experience will be character building for him. I hope that if Eva moves to 7 central time they rerun it at 11--but my hopes are not high. Loved Eva's feminist message to Armando!

Eva

thanks so much novelera!
no captions last night, so I didn't get much out of the show.

Well crud if they're cutting or moving Quien. I like that show. I'd hate for it to get the Reina de Corazones treatment.

Anyone watching El Senor? I tried it, just to see this thing through to what hopefully is the end. Haven't been able to do it. My antenna doesn't like this show, and from I've seen, it might be right. Is there a decent plot here or is more of the sample: lots of people getting shot?

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 1 de 3
I'm afraid this is going to have to be a rushed recap. I've got to get it done before I go to bed, since I won't have time tomorrow morning.

The episode opens in Evencio's hospital room. Pablo is worried about whether Evencio will testify, since he is Pablo's key witness. He tells Evencio he has to make a denuncio, an accusation. He should do it for Carmen and for Sofia. Evencio seems somewhat uncertain about what to do. Pancho assures him that he'll have protection as a witness and urges him not to give in to blackmail. "Blackmail?" says Evencio. "They've threatened to kill me." Evencio finally says that he now realizes that both Carmen and Sofia were murdered, and he wants to get justice for them, even if it's the last thing he does. "My life will make no sense if I don't do this," he says.

Andy the Asqueroso and two other men carry a very drunk Armando back to his house. Marlene is disgusted with Armando, telling him he's behaving like a boor and a drunkard, not like the king she deserves and wants by her side. He tries to kiss her but she pushes him away, telling him that he's pathetic.

For another view of male behavior, we move to the Morgollons' house, where Pancho and Soraya are talking with Esteban about his relationship with Noemi. Pancho tells Soraya that this subject is really more for men, and it would be better for him to talk to Esteban alone. Soraya doesn't agree that this is a subject for men, since there's also a woman involved, but she nonetheless agrees to leave the two men to talk alone. Pancho makes it clear that Esteban must behave honorably and not leave Noemi in the lurch. He must marry her.

After Pancho's talk with Esteban, Soraya gives Esteban a ring that had been an early gift from Pancho. Esteban should do the right thing: he should propose marriage and give Noemi this ring. As Esteban is leaving to carry out his sentence--oops, I mean ask Noemi to marry him--Soraya takes some flowers out of a vase and tells him to give Noemi these as well.

Esteban dutifully goes to Noemi, gets down on one knee, and in very formal language asks her to marry him, ending with: Te obsequio estas flores y este anillo, esperando que me aceptas como tu legítimo esposo. Noemi is thrilled, quickly accepts, and asks when the wedding will be. In three months, he replies. She doesn't think they should wait so long. Wedding gowns aren't made for pregnant women, she tells him, and she suggests that they get married next week.

Adriana has overheard the marriage proposal, and after Esteban leaves, she asks Noemi why she is deceiving him. After all, she's not pregnant. Adriana advises her not to start a relationship based on lies. Noemi replies that Adriana too is lying, since she is pregnant but hasn't told anyone. Of course, Marlene just happens to pass by unseen as Noemi says this. She phones AA and tells him she has good news and will chill the champagne.

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 2 de 3

The scene shifts to Pablo's house. Pablo is eagerly expecting Eva to arrive. This puzzles Diego. "Yesterday, you were angry, and now you're happy. I don't understand." Love is difficult to understand, Pablo tells him. Just then there's a knock on the door. Pablo goes to the door to let Eva in, but in marches Betty instead, kissing him as she enters. Pablo tries to get rid of her. There's another knock on the door. Knowing that he's expecting Eva, Betty goes to the door. The two women glare at each other. Betty tells her that when Pablo realizes what kind of assassin Eva is, he'll leave her and form a family with her, Betty. In your dreams, replies Eva. The child will be welcome here, says Eva, but you should leave. Betty then tries to attack Eva physically. Pablo grabs Betty, and she struggles against him and suddenly collapses and passes out. Eva looks on with horror. [I am not nearly as nice a person as Eva. I cheer.]

Meanwhile, Marisol has come to the house of the woman who has married the man who had abused Camila. Marisol flashes a badge and begins asking some questions. She learns that the woman (Irma?) was widowed with two young daughters when she met Nicolas through an Internet dating site. Irma tells Marisol that Nicolas is a wonderful man and a wonderful father to her daughters. She admits that the older daughter had difficulty accepting him, but that's the way adolescents are. Marisol asks her whether her husband has a wound. Such a question would have taken me aback, but Irma simply admits that yes, he has a scar on his stomach where a robber almost killed him. Gradually, the woman becomes more wary of Marisol's questions and asks her what she's insinuating. I'm not insinuating, replies Marisol, I'm investigating (indago). Marisol sees that she's not going to get any more information, so she leaves, giving Irma her card and saying that when Irma wants to know more about Nicolas, she can call Marisol. The woman looks out the window after Marisol has left and sees her talking to Martin and JJ, and she then tears up Marisol's card.

Back at Pablo's house, Martin, JJ, and Marisol discuss the case. Marisol asks whether Martin wants to help his client (Camila) or Irma's daughters. Both, replies Martin. Marisol says she has a crazy plan.

Pablo and Eva are at the hospital where Betty has been taken. Eva is taking Betty's collapse quite seriously. She explains to Pablo that her mother died of eclampsia, and the baby she was carrying died as well, when Eva was eight years old. The doctor comes by and tells them that Betty is asking to see Pablo, and that she is in a bad way both physically and psychologically. Pablo assures Eva that she is the only one he loves, and he then goes to see Betty. Betty berates him for being distant, and she tells him that she hates Eva with all her being, and accuses him of not loving her baby because of that perra.

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 3 de 3

Speaking of perras, Marlene offers her brother some champagne and tells him "You're going to be a father." He's appalled. She explains to him that they should be able to prove that Adriana, a drug addict, will not be able to be a good mother. He doesn't see what benefit that will be to them. She tells him that it will mortify and anguish Eva, something that will give Marlene much pleasure. And in addition to that, she's sure they'll be able to make good use of AA's paternal rights. "This situation gives us a great advantage."

Bobby talks with Pancho about his confused feelings. He doesn't know who he is or where he belongs. Also, he feels guilty because of the situation between Robert and Pancho. Pancho assures him that he shouldn't feel at all guilty. And regardless of how the lawsuit against Pancho for the contaminated sausages turns out, Pancho feels fortunate: "what could be better than finding my son, who is valiant, intelligent, honorable, and has a great heart?" When Bobby leaves Pancho's house, he encounters Soraya. He confesses that he finds himself wanting to hug Pancho and her. Soraya embraces him. He tells her he thinks he's beginning to love her. He kisses her and then leaves. Soraya is ecstatic. "My son loves me."

Adriana is crying. Noemi asks why, and Adri tells her that she has read about the harm to babies born to mothers who have taken drugs. Soon after Noemi leaves, Bobby comes to see Adri. It's clear that both of them have much on their minds. "You first," says Adriana. Bobby starts to talk about his confused feelings about his parents, and that every time he sees Soraya, he wants to embrace her and tell her I love her. "I'm pregnant," says Adriana. Bobby continues for a few seconds more, and then pauses: "What did you say?" he asks.

Eva

loved reading your recap Juanita!

(I still have no captions so it is unlikely I will be able to do the recap tonight)

¿Quién es quién?

according to the tv schedule (zap2it.com), on the 18th, "Secretos" goes to 1 hour followed by 1 hour of "¿Quién es quién?".

Eva. Excellent recap, Juanita, thorough and insightful as always and didn't seem the least bit rushed! 3 pregnancy stories in this episode. I'm glad Pablo stood up to Betty and told her that the way she is behaving is jeopardizing her baby's health. Adri finally tells Bobby she's pregnant. Good for her! Heaven only knows how the Estban-Noemí situation works out. He could hardly be less enthusiastic. Let's hope he either falls in love for real or she kicks him to the curb. And of course, Pancho once again is wonderful--both with Esteban and with Bobby. No one died from the bad sausages--which softens things a bit. And could Marlene get more disgustingly entitled? I doubt it. Wonderful that Evencio is going to seek justice--the attack indeed seems to have been counter-productive.

Eva

wait, wasn't Esteban sent over to casa Soler by Pancho/Soraya to woo the maid to get information on the Monteverdes, and we really haven't seen them being intimate (I keep waiting for Esteban to say, "but we haven't done anything"), and I remember mostly the times where Noemi was dusting him off, so I'm not seeing the love on her part either, of course they are both kind of shy, and this could happen eventually.

Eva. I wonder if the drug-use story with Adriana and Betty's pre-eclampsia are setting us up for Adriana to miscarry and for Betty to die.

Eva

Muchas gracias, SpanProf and deb, for your kind words about the recap and your very insightful comments. Deb, I too don't recall seeing Noemi and Estaban being intimate. When Esteban talked with Pancho, he used the word Retozamos...lo normal to describe their activities. I had to look up retozar and found it meant "to frolic, gambol, play." So retozamos is somewhat ambiguous. Pancho then asked him what he meant by "lo normal" that would explain Noemi's becoming pregnant. Esteban replies "she says she's pregnant, but frankly I'm confused" (estoy hecho bolas). Pancho seems to take that as a cowardly denial of responsibility on Esteban's part, but it's quite possible that Esteban is confused because what he knows of the birds and the bees doesn't account for Noemi's pregnancy.

Eva

Deb, my Advanced Spanish class is at the high school - adult ed in the evening, and it's spring break at the high school so no class this week. I should say that we who have taken this class are EXTREMELY fortunate. We have a family, mother from Guadalajara, father from CA and the son of these two who is brilliant beyond belief. The mother, Graciela, was our advanced Spanish teacher for many, many years. She retired and now her son is our teacher. Leonardo grew up bilingual and studied languages extensively. I could not imagine better instruction. For the first hour we converse. Usually two students per night give a little discurso about a book they've read, their most recent vacation, a movie they liked. The rest of us ask questions and it's just free-form conversation with zero English. The second hour we read aloud from whatever book we're currently on, two or three paragraphs per person. We then explain, again in Spanish, what we just read. Leo asks us questions about the text as well. And we discuss words new to our vocabularies. Right now we're reading a book of short stories by Gabriel Garcia Marquez: Doce Cuentos Peregrinos.

Wow, did I ever digress!

I'll put up a recap tonight. Actually it's better for me than tomorrow as I'm planning to be glued to the TV for the Warriors-Spurs basketball game. Like most of the Bay Area, we loves us some Warriors. I will also probably watch Eva but it's a lot to watch a game and recap.

Eva

SpanProf, after reading your theory about how the drug-use story will play out, all I can say is ¡Ojalá!

Telemundo

Deb, thanks VERY much for the link to zap2it.com . I've been looking for a more extensive and reliable source of TV listings, and this looks like it may be it. By contrast, the Washington Post's TV listings include Univisión and a large number of cable stations but no listing for Telemundo. And, as I mentioned a couple of days ago, Telemundo's own web page is not all that reliable. On Monday, it was still claiming that Imperio would be shown at noon.

Eva

Juanita, if that was a rushed recap, you work well under pressure. It was terrific!

I think denuncio in the sense of the US legal system means to “press charges”.

OK, I’ll say it right now, if they kill off either Pancho or Soraya, or both; I’m going to blackball the writer of this novela forever. I got a corazonada of my own last night that the two sweet scenes Bobby had with each of his bio parents felt like a precursor to a disaster.

I’m already fed up with Marlene seeming to win every round, including figuring out a way to hurt Eva through Adriana’s pregnancy. Y para colmo she’s thinking of using Adriana’s drug usage, practically forced on her by her slimy brother, to try to take the child. I’m way past ready for some Marlene suffering! The only hint of it we’ve seen so far is her realizing that Armando, who she really does have a thing for, still loves Eva.

I don’t think Esteban is that lacking in knowledge. They may have only shown smooching, but I’m pretty sure he and Noemi did the deed. Like Adriana, I agree she’s making a horrible mistake planning a pretend shotgun wedding.

Betty just doesn’t disappoint, does she? She’s completely delusional. I LOVED the scene with Eva. Eva moved closer and Betty backed up. She said she was NOT welcome in the Contreras house. Her child would be but not her. And that Pablo is HER man. Unfortunately our crappy writers couldn’t leave Eva with her triumph and had to go with Betty doubling over again. I wonder if there’s any truth to pre-eclampsia being aggravated by temper tantrums, since that’s how it works for Betty.

They better not go with Eva giving Pablo up again for the good of Betty and the Bump.

The scene with Bobby and Pancho was terrific.

Eva. Novelera. I don't think Pablo will give up Eva for the sake of Betty and the bump. He has been behaving much too sensibly for that, and I liked the way he made it clear to Betty that the way she was acting was only hurting herself and her unborn child. Btw, Esteban used the same excuse of "I thought we agreed that there were no strings" (or equivalent expression in Spanish) to Noemí that Pablo had used with Betty. There's a lesson there! :)

Eva. SpanProf, I don't think Pablo would give up Eva. What I meant was that Eva's concern over her mother having died of this might cause her to be noble and give up Pablo.

Eva
Novelera, thanks VERY much for your praise of the recap and your great comments. I was beating my head against the wall last night trying to think of the word I wanted for denuncio. I settled for "accusation," but you nailed it perfectly with "press charges."

I too would love to see Marlene suffer some defeats, but with so many more episodes to go, I'm not optimistic.

I hope your corazonadas are less reliable than Soraya's!

EVA – MIÉRCOLES – Parte 1 de 2

Adriana has told Bobby she’s pregnant. We see a big gulp on his part, but he seems ready to accept being a father. When she says it’s not his, he leaves, even though Adriana begs him to let her explain.

Eva comes to get her trailer and tells Martín he’s trying to manipulate her, just like his son, when she expresses doubt about her relationship with Pablo because of Betty’s high-risk pregnancy. After she leaves he says: hijo de tigre, pintito (like father, like son).

We get a long explanation of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia from Betty’s doctor. Pablo looks worried and says he’ll try to help.

Eva comes to show Fabiola the trailer. Armando approaches her. He says he’s come to beg her forgiveness. She reminds him he pointed a gun at her yesterday. He says he couldn’t bear seeing her with Pablo in a similar place to where they used to make love. He tells her he’s not a killer. Eva: “And Sofía? You killed her, didn’t you? Or was it La Alacrana that you sleep with?” It’s inconceivable that you went to bed with my niece, that you’ve taken every last cent from me and my daughters, that you lied at my trial. And it’s unforgivable that you took my child from me and put her in this prison!”

She tells him he used to be a good guy. She had a great love for him. Now she doesn’t even recognize him. Eva shows Fabiola the trailer as she looks through the window smiling happily. Armando walks away in defeat.

Marisol has come to the school of the girls now living with the stepfather who raped or tried to rape Camila. She arranges with the head of the school to speak to a class.

Eva is telling Soraya, Federica and Bertha that she’s giving Pablo up. Bertha agrees that she should make this sacrifice for a baby and, besides, she’s older than Pablo. Soraya scoffs at Bertha’s notions and Federica agrees with Soraya. Pablo enters saying: ¡El chamaco se presenta!

La Alacrana is not very smart sometimes. Not picking up on Armando’s mood she starts to rag on him for having a beer and watching soccer on TV. He throws the beer across the room and tells her to get out. When she says this is her bedroom he calls her Princesita Palacios and tells her the room is HIS.

I guess that was a false alarm as Eva and Pablo appear to be united again.

Marisol gives an amazing speech to the class about sexual abuse, telling how she’d been maltreated by her stepfather. She emphasizes the importance of speaking up sooner rather than later. We see this making an impression on one of the girls.

At Last: The Trial Starts. Eva has a bad feeling about the prosecutor. He does glare at her, and Pablo says this is just standard intimidation attempt. Pablo’s opening statement mentions the lack of impartiality of the former prosecutor. The new one objects saying that that partiality shouldn’t negate the evidence that was presented at the earlier trial. [I hate this guy already!] Pablo says that Eva didn’t have either the intention or the method of committing the crime.

EVA – MIÉRCOLES – Parte 2 de 2

Pablo calls Javier, the sniveling accountant, and puts him on the spot about not giving Eva the books of the company when she asked for him. He also mentions the insurance problems about the robberies. Javier freaks out and says he didn’t call Eva, even though no one asked him about that yet.

What?? The prosecutor calls Evencio as his first witness. [This whole thing is whack. The prosecution and the defense don’t take turns. The prosecution presents its case; and then the defense presents its case.]

The girls are about to talk with Marisol and JJ when Evil Stepfather sees them and tells them to come along with him.

The prosecutor goes after Evencio, saying he changed his mind from the first trial or something like that. Then the prosecutor plays his trump card, saying that Evencio is compromised because he’s living with the defense attorney! The judge calls the two attorneys into chambers.

Evil Stepfather grills the girls about their talking with police. One of them asks how he knew they were police (no uniforms). The girl who was in class comes up with a good lie. She says they were there to give them a warning about using drugs.

The prosecutor tells the judge that Evencio is disqualified as a witness because he lives in Pablo’s house. Pablo says that he’s the only witness to what happened that night, that he’s the only one who can prove Eva’s innocence.

Just when it looks bad, Pablo comes up with a good plan. He says that the prosecutor should ask Evencio the exact same questions as those in the first trial. He maintains that Evencio will give the exact same responses except now he’ll better remember the sequence of events. This convinces the judge.

Noemi admits to Celeste that she’s not pregnant and isn’t planning to marry Esteban.

Pancho comes home to find Esteban and Bobby asleep in the Living Room, smelling to high heaven of alcohol.

Soraya tells Adriana that she knows what’s going on (the pregnancy) but she won’t tell anyone.

Eva. Excellent recap as always, novelera. Yep, the writers don't seem to have learned anything about US courtroom procedures since the last trial! And speaking of the trial, Evencio's testimony doesn't really seem to be as necessary as last time. What about Detective Fajardo's? stop watch and getting down the logistics to the point that he proved that Eva couldn't have done the killing or discarded the weapon? What about the large bloody handprint, obviously a man's--easily checkable for Sofía's dna? What about the retrieved cell phone with Sofía's message about her fears for her safety? Very, very sloppy, and things that Pablo, both as a lawyer and as a former detective, would not ignore. Glad that Noemí has decided to do the right thing and tell Esteban that she's not pregnant. Soraya, of course, has figured out that Adriana is pregnant. And Marisol behaved downright heroically. You coudl see JJ being visibly moved. The actress in that role, in fact, gave a moving and powerful performance in that classroom. And as a PSA, it might actually encourage some sexual assault victims to come forward.

Eva

Another stellar recap, novelera! I was very moved when I watched Eva sadly berate Armando for all the cruel things he has done, and I was moved again when I read your excellent account. I'm hoping that Eva's words, coupled with Marlene's increasingly domineering and insensitive treatment of Armando, will eventually make him turn against La Alacrana.

I too was impressed with Marisol's PSA in the classroom. In spite of the Evil Stepfather's preventing his step-daughters from talking with Marisol, I suspect her talk will eventually lead to his undoing.

Apparently no one among the Telemundo writers has a clue about how American trials work. Indeed, the entire justice system seems to have eluded them.

Finally, thanks very much for translating hijo de tigre, pintito.

Eva

Wow, SpanProf, tell Pablo to move over: you should be Eva's lawyer! You've offered a superb account of all the additional evidence that should make Evencio's testimony less vital (though still useful) and should lead to Eva's being declared innocent. Then again, that's what should happen in a normal courtroom in a normal trial in the US. There's no telling in the screwed-up world of this telenovela.

Eva. Maybe it's in the blood, Juanita. I do have a sister who started out as a lawyer and is now a judge. :) And speaking of judges, the one in Eva seems to be fairly sympathetic to Pablo, which is a good thing, and the new fiscal is just jerky enough that in a real trial in the real world he would probably lose the jury's good will.
