Pasión y Poder Episode #116 Friday, April 1st 2016 While Julia has a jealous snit, Erick gets busted, and Petra may finally get some romance.

At Casa Montenegro, Julia has arrived to see Daniela, when she spots her ex-husband Eladio with Nina. Naturally, Julia thinks the worst, and accuses her ex-husband of not knowing how to be without a woman. Nina sees this as her golden opportunity, and she's not about to let it slide, so she sticks it to Julia by telling her that she (Nina) and Eladio have just as much right to be together as she (Julia) and Arturo do. With the difference that they (Nina & Eladio) have a clean conscience since they didn't destroy a family. Julia can't believe that Nina has the audacity of accusing her of being with Arturo, when she and Eladio are the ones who are together. Nina can't believe that Julia has the audacity to show her face at Casa Montenegro when Arturo doesn't live there anymore. Before more can be said between both woman, Daniela arrives, and Nina and Eladio leave so Julia and Daniela can talk. (Surprisingly, Eladio remained quiet throughout the scene, was he out of his breath spray, perhaps?!)

In another room at Casa Montenegro, while Nina hopes that Eladio won't get upset with her for what she told Julia, Eladio can't seem to comprehend Julia's behavior. Why was she so irked at the two of them for seeing one another? According to Nina, women are just apprehensive, they love to still be loved, despite the circumstances. Uh, okay.

Meanwhile, Julia offers Daniela her help after she stupidly admits to coming to see her because Arturo asked her to. Daniela is not amused. She already knows that Julia asked David to break up with her. And now this. She doesn't believe in Julia's help.
Nina thanks Eladio for becoming her new BFF and for his support. She comments on how Eladio is so different than Arturo painted him out. Julia sees them together and allows her presence to be known by uttering a "good night" before leaving Casa Montenegro.

Daniela calls Julia "cynical" in front of Eladio and Nina. Eladio tells her to shut it in a deep and firm voice. Daniela knows that Julia doesn't like her. Not only did she ask David to break up with her but she only came to see her because Arturo asked her to. Changing the subject, Eladio talks about Daniela's job. She's free to miss work, and to work on getting better, without getting penalized with those nasty contract clauses.

Consuelo is stupid. Not only did she offer Erick her shares (and her son's patrimony) in exchange for Miguel's freedom, but she actually believed the BS Erick fed her about almost "forgiving" Miguel until she came and offended him with her offer. Now Consuelo feels like she ruined everything. Regina gives Consuelo some hope by letting her know of her suspicion that Erick is in cahoots with Dr. Oz to fake it.

Daniela wants to continue working, because that's all she has, and she does it so well. If they want her to miss work, so they can lock her up in rehab with all those other child stars gone bad, then she's not going to do it. Eladio is firm with her once again and tries to get her to clam down. He tells her that he's doing this for her. Then he asks her if someone over at GLA has been supplying her with the drugs she's been taking.

Bingo. While Consuelo has figured out that Erick "forgiving" Miguel was a BIG FAT LIE, Regina has figured out that Erick is a "bad person" (It took them long enough to figure that out. Sheesh). When Consuelo fell in love with Erick she fell in love with the Chimp she thought he was. She's worried about what her son will think when he grows up and realizes that his dad is scum. The subject is changed, and Regina gets to talking about how affected she is over David and Daniela dating. Yawn. Next.

When Daniela doesn't respond the question, Eladio firmly and in a deep voice calls out her name, signaling that he wants a response. Daniela says that she gets the drugs elsewhere, but that she's not about to ID her dealer. She admits that she made a mistake, but it's not like she's involved in something worse, for them to be wanting info out of her. They get to talking about her job again, and she begs Eladio to let her continue to work. Nina asks Eladio to let Daniela continue working when she sees how much it means to her. Eladio ends up agreeing to let Daniela continue to work. But Daniela has to promise to let him know if she doesn't think she can handle the pressure. Oh, and her therapy will have to be her priority. Daniela agrees.

Justino tells Clara that he suspects that Franco and Marcos are up to not good. He heard them talking about purchasing GLA shares and that Eladio would be shown the vouchers. Justino decides that he won't tell David, because after all, Eladio will the see the vouchers, no? Clara suggests that Justino pay more attention the next time he hears the two conversing. They both know that Franco is a rat bastard, and who knows who he wants to screw over now. Later, they talk about their wedding, and they agree that they will have it ahead of time, because of the Rivera Maya project.

Julia visits David and tells him that Daniela was curt with her when she went to see her and offered her help. David thinks that Julia should butt out of their problems. But Julia tells him that his problems are her problems. She calls him out over blabbing to Daniela that she asked him to break up with her. David says he was just being honest.

Erick and Dr. Oz are having a bro moment where Erick is asking Dr. Oz to get him an "amiga" because he needs one. Yuck. Arturo shows up and Erick enters character and pretends to be ill. Arturo makes both Erick and Dr. Oz squirm when he tells them that he's getting a second opinion on Erick's condition.

Agustín visits Miguel in the pokey and tells him that Erick is accusing him of attempted murder. Later, Consuelo visits him as well, and tells him that she made her statement down at the police station. She told them that Erick raped her and that Miguel was only trying to put Erick in his place by giving him a free facelift. Consuelo also tells him that Regina suspects that Erick has been faking his illness with the help of his BFF, Dr. Oz.

Arturo tells Dr. Oz that it's not that he doesn't trust his professional opinion on Erick's condition, it's just that he wants a second opinion. Dr. Oz understands and leaves the room. Now alone, Arturo asks Erick why he accused Miguel of attempted murder. Erick states that Miguel tried to kill him to steal his life, wife, and child from him. Arturo reminds Erick that he's the one who destroyed his own marriage. He then tells his spawn that he loves him, and has let things slide because of that, but to not even think about pulling a fast one on him.

Daniela tells David that Julia went to see her only because Arturo asked her to. David is not happy to find out this out since that's not the story that Julia told him. Later, he goes to confront her over this, and asks her to butt out of his life, when Julia admits that she does want him and Daniela to break up. Julia knows that David still loves Regina and she doesn't want David to make a mistake. They get to talking about Arturo, and David brings up how Arturo all of sudden is worried about Daniela, when he's never cared about her before. He leaves to go and show Arturo that he's not the person Arturo thinks he is.

Dr. Oz isn't willing to back up Erick anymore since it could affect his prestige. Erick is pissed. The specialists that will give the second opinion arrive with Arturo. Later, Erick gets a light shined in his eye, while the other specialist checks out the MRI of Erick's "brain". Their findings is that Erick's condition isn't so bad. In fact, he can go home tomorrow. Arturo now wants to know how come Dr. Oz gave another diagnosis. Dr. Oz squirms. Lucky for him the other doctor comes to his rescue and explains that Dr. Oz was probably going by the results of the initial findings when the blow to the head was recent. Dr. Oz says that, that was exactly what happened, and he was about to tell Arturo just that.

Petra gossips to Consuelo about what happened between Eladio, Nina, and Julia the previous night. Petra is sad because while there's so much passion out there for everyone else, she's not getting any herself. She's all alone.

Fanny will be recommending  a "mozo" to work at Casa Montenegro. (A possible love interest for Petra, perhaps? Now there's a romance worth watching.)

Daniela is having trouble writing out her lists of her qualities and Nina helps her out.

Caridad wants to know what the heck Marintia meant when she said that "Eladio would end up losing" when they conversed about Franco's resentment for his dad. Uh, well, what she meant was that Eladio would lose a lot of money for not trusting Franco in business and in finance. Franco gets a call. He has a visitor. He leaves rather nervous.

Julia meets with her shrink Dr. Phil #1 and tells him how much it bugs her that Eladio and Nina are getting close. It upsets her that Eladio offered to help Nina manage her shares, when he never did the same for her. Julia thinks that Nina has been throwing herself at Eladio and she knows that both Eladio and Nina are doing this to bug her. And guess what? She's not going to let them see how much it hurts her.

Pedro has returned to extort money from Franco in exchange for keeping mum about who sent the brake of Erick's car to be cut off. Franco is not impressed and threatens to have Pedro whacked for threatening him. In the end, Franco ends up giving him the money, but warns him to not show his face anymore, or else. Franco leaves. Pedro calls up Erick and tells him that he wants to talk about "the jobs" he's done for him and other business matters.

Eladio has told his shrink what happened with Nina and Julia. He doesn't want to be asked why he didn't clear up the misunderstanding and doesn't quite understand Julia's behavior. Is she mad? Jealous? Is it vanity because she doesn't feel him secure anymore? Dr. Phil #2 suggests that Eladio simply ask Julia what's eating her. Of course Eladio won't ask Julia. Besides, she'll end up saying "you have no right to question me". (He's got a point there. I can see Julia saying something like that.) Eladio brings up Julia's pride and how he never thought that it would be more important than what she feels for him. Dr. Phil #2 asks Eladio if he didn't clear up the misunderstanding because he wanted to make Julia jealous. Eladio tells Dr. Phil #2 that Julia's the only woman he's interested in. He'd never use Nina, not even for revenge. Dr. Phil #2 now asks him if he has considered the idea that Julia will never get back together with him.

David shows up at GM and shows Arturo his antidoping results. He's drug free. Arturo apologizes for being mistaken with him and thanks him for all that he does for Daniela. He asks David to give Daniela his support, affection, and comprehension. David suggests that Arturo do the same and advises him to make Daniela his priority. He tells Arturo how Daniela feels that Arturo doesn't love her. Arturo tells David to butt out of things that he doesn't understand. He thinks that David could less about Daniela. David assures him that he does care about Daniela. He tells Arturo that he wants to take care of Daniela and wants to avoid arguing with Arturo every time he sees him. He asks him to think about that.

Daniela tells Erick about Nina and Eladio getting closer. Since Erick is pissed at his dad, he's glad to hear that, since it will be like an arrow to his liver (whatever that means). Daniela doesn't get what was wrong with Arturo asking for a second opinion. Erick says that he did it because he didn't trust him. Daniela tells him not to take it that way. Anyway, Daniela wants Erick's opinion on what she told him about their mother. Erick says that it'd be awkward for Daniela's father in law to suddenly become her stepfather. Daniela says that she could less if her mom dates her father in law just as long as she remains David's GF.

Julia and Eladio run into each other in the lobby of their shrink's office. Julia overhears when the shrink mentions Nina to Eladio. Julia asks Eladio if he's really considering allowing Nina to be part of his life. He tells her that it's not like that and tells her about having to move on with his life or else he'll go crazy. He reminds her that she told him not to lose his dignity and humiliate himself. Well, that's what he's doing, because he knows that is what she likes about him. And he.... he doesn't finish that sentence. He puts on those sunglasses of his and leaves Julia standing there.

Erick is pissed because Miguel will be released from the pokey. He still goes on about Miguel wanting to kill him. Daniela thinks Erick is just being a drama queen. She tells Erick how Miguel and Consuelo are now living together. Erick is not amused at the thought of Miguel and Consuelo sleeping together. He tells Daniela that he won't let them get away with being together and that he'll do whatever he needs to do to make that happen. Surprisingly, Daniela tries to make him see that what he's doing is not cool. Regina arrives and Erick tells her to get out since he knows that she doesn't love him. Regina leaves the room and sheds some tears because the brother who she knows is scum hates her guts.

Franco shows up at Marintia's place. She gets all happy because she thinks that he's there for a booty call. But he's not in the mood. He just came to see his son. While he sees his son and partner in crime, Marintia tells him to do something so Caridad doesn't come around to visit her that much. Caridad is just so exasperating. (The Patio agrees with Marintia for what is possibly the first and only time ever ever)

Regina never believed that Nina and Eladio would become BFF's. It hurts Regina that Julia visited Daniela because that means that she accepts Daniela. Regina whines that Julia never accepted her (Regina) as David's GF. Consuelo reminds Regina that she left the path free for Daniela. She suggests that Regina get back with David. But Regina says that David is dating her sister and they are happy so she couldn't do anything. She says that she'll try things with George who she feels affection for because he's a good guy. She is sure that one day she will love him. Like David? Consuelo asks. Regina reminds her that David is DATING HER SISTER. They change subjects and Regina tells Consuelo that Erick will soon be discharged from the hospital. Regina tells Consuelo that it will be hard to show that Miguel tried to kill Erick. At that moment, Agustín calls and Consuelo hopes he has good news.

Eladio tells David how therapy has been helping him put his life in order even though Julia is no longer with him. Therapy has also been helping Eladio get over his past. David is glad to hear it and comments on Eladio's change for the better. Then he comments on Julia's change [for the worst] and Eladio tells him not to say that. David tells Eladio how Julia visited Daniela only because Arturo asked her to. Eladio tells David that he knows how it all went down because he was there. He had gone to see Daniela and Julia arrived and misunderstood what was happening. Julia happens to hear that "misunderstood" part as she walks into the office and tells David that she didn't "misunderstand" and that Eladio went to see Nina. David now thinks that Eladio wants Nina and just can't with that news and is sick and tired of his parents hurting each other. He leaves in a huff. Eladio has this WTF expression on his face and can't believe that Julia is badmouthing him after years of wanting his relationship with David to improve. Julia says that she's sick and tired of David judging her while Eladio is the one who ends up looking like the one with a halo on top of his head. Well, Eladio knows that he's no saint. Julia wants Eladio to be a man and admit that he's after Nina. She tells him twice to admit it and when he doesn't she leaves the office. Eladio is like WTF. The credits begin to roll.

This was a rather a slow episode, I thought. Hope things pick up next week. Enjoy!

But not a slow recap!! Actually the recap is funnier and even more entertaining. Thank you!

Oh boy, Franco getting sloppy talking about his white collar crime, and is now going to be observed closely by Justno. I hope Franco doesn't disappear Justino cause he has grown on me and it would be so terrible for Luisita and Clara.
Leticia

Thanks Leticia. Hopefully, Justino will be careful with keeping a close eye on Franco. I agree that it would be terrible if Justino ends up getting killed by Franco.

Thanks much Mr. Mauricio:
Whoa..Yo Ho Ho. One or two brain cells must have migrated from 'down there' back up to
Arturo's brain where they belonged all along. Got a second opinion on Chimpolito's supposed brain.
Viola ! It is there, surprise, and not seriously damaged. Now lying, cheating, raping (LCR)
Chimp Boy and his Simian Doctor are both busted.

Master David just handed Art his (emotional) ass, along with his (David's) drug test results.
How many times do the results of Art's horrid (non)decisions need to whack him over the head
before he notices what's doing the whacking?

Eladio...son...look..she may not have been a fruitcake 25 years ago.
But what you Humdog and Art have put Julia through, Well it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
You can't win Bud, I'm sorry, you are trying.

Hmmm let's just say Love is the main course and jealousy is salt. A pinch and you've baked the perfect turkey.
Dump the whole shaker on it, and you can pitch the whole shebang in the dumpster.

OK I don't see any saw marks on Dani's skull indicating they have replaced her hard drive, so
If the new Dani is to be believed, every f'ing body on this show needs a line or two of coke and then her therapist.
Frontal Lobotomy or Bottle Infrontame?

Gotta hand it to Frankenfurter. Even with notes I can't keep up with who he has shafted
and which lie he has told to who, but he manages somehow. That will come in handy in the 'Big House'.
If he doesn't die after Gaby neuters him when she grows a pair of her own.

Oh Boo Hoo. My brother is a lying cheating rapist who hates me and ran me out of his
room because he suspects I had figured out he's a LCR. Where'd I put my Turtle, anyway?
Did my turtle bring me M&Ms or did my M&Ms bring me some turtles? Boo Hoo Boo Hoo.

Mauricio,

This is such a darn good recap. I thought that all in all it was a rather fascinating episode that laid the groundwork for some very interesting developments and you described the proceedings perfectly as viewed through your uniquely skeptical lens and wry narration.

I especially liked the return of shamelessly overreaching thug, Pedro, but my favorite and potentially promising development is this:

"Fanny will be recommending a "mozo" to work at Casa Montenegro."

I agree with your optimistic musing:

"A possible love interest for Petra, perhaps?"

I can't wait to see who this might be.

Carlos

Gracias mucho Mauricio

El hotel has set the novela bar high & PyP fails miserably.

Why Eladio would be interested in sniveling Julia is a mystery to me.
He is not much of an antagonist is he, certainly no worse than supposed good guy Arturo.

Hopefully Petra's love life will be more interesting than any we have had so far.

Thank you Kirbo, Carlos, and Variopinta.

I can't wait until we meet this new "mozo". Petra is one of my favorites and she certainly deserves to have some romance in her life. It is also nice that she'll finally have someone to help her around the house. It's about time.

I forgot to mention how much I liked how Eladio dealt with Daniela. He was firm and used a deep voice but didn't shout at her.

Thank you for the Saturday morning read Mauricio.
Eladio remained quiet throughout the scene, was he out of his breath spray perhaps?

Arturo shows up and Arturo enters character and pretends to bee ill.
Two good lines Mauricio.

As for this being a slow episode---None of them are slow for me, I hang on every single minute. I love this show.

Erick about to be released does not bode well for Miguel. For Erick, it is perfectly ok for him to cheat and run around whenever it suits him but Consuelo---
she had better not even look and she had dared to do more than that with a divorce and all. Erick will become a raging animal upon his release from the hospital.

Petra is a trip, I love her. She doesn't have a big part but when she's present, she steals the show. More Petra please!

Things are starting to go downhill for our young pretty boy Frankfurter. I'll bet that we are going to be seeing more of hit man Pedro. Is Pedro working for Erick?
Steve---What say you about this new development?

must see tv

How great to put Petra in a starring role in your Recap Title, Mauricio. She certainly deserves it. Hard-working, loyal, supportive, good with babies and can cook! methinks a certain "mozo" is about to get lucky.

"The subject is changed, and Regina gets to talking about how affected she is over David and Daniela dating. Yawn. Next."

Loved that little passage. How often have we had that couch, those two, and that exact same discussion. Over and over. And it wasn't remotely interesting the first time.

I like how Eladio is handling this marital mess. No flirtation with Nina, no dissing Julia and no letting others (David, Daniela) diss her either. Personality transformation, like physical healing, seems to proceed at the speed of light in these telenovelas. Bruises and limps seem to disappear overnight, no why not toxic personality defects.

I like the new improved family-size package of Eladio (even if Cynderella doesn't) and I'll be pleased as punch if he and Julia get back together again. Yeah, she's a dip, but she's HIS dip, the one he wants. So fine with me.

As was the recap. Great job Mauricio. Thanks.

Thank you, Mauricio, for this super recap. It's hard to pick favorites because there are so many good lines, but here goes:

... the other specialist checks out the MRI of Erick's "brain."

The air quotes say it all – What brain?,

(BTW, according to Google, un gancho al hígado is one of the most painful hits delivered in the boxing ring.)

I thought it was a fairly interesting episode that promised lots of good times on The Patio in the capítulos to follow.

There were so many things wrong with that second opinion.

Apparently, Erick wasn't given a choice in the matter. Yes it was a good idea and needed to be done but it should have been ordered by the judge in the matter, not arranged at Arturo's whim. Erick is a grown man and had the right to refuse any exam arranged by his dad (shades of Daniela). Without Erick's consent it was assault and battery by the Dr.

The examining Dr. didn't even talk to Erick. He should have begun by confirming Erick's consent and then getting a complete history of what happened and what his symptoms have been and currently are. At least he did say that he had reviewed the studies.

What we saw of the exam was a joke:

"...Erick gets a light shined in his eye..."

The light that was shined in his eye was an otoscope (an instrument designed for examining the ear canal). Now I suppose that he could have used the light from the otoscope to check the pupillary light reflex but in doing that one would not look through the lens as the consultant did. To properly exam the contents of the eye and the retina one would use an ophthalmoscope.

Finally, the degree of damage to the brain is significant in the case but the fact remains that Miguel beat the crap out of Erick and is guilty of assault and battery and should be punished, irrespective of whatever Erick himself is guilty of or deserves.

Carlos

Mauricio, this was an excellent recap.

Like NovelaMaven, I had a difficult time choosing but "(Surprisingly, Eladio remained quiet throughout the scene, was he out of his breath spray, perhaps?!)" and "Miguel was only trying to put Erick in his place by giving him a free facelift" were among my favorites.

"Erick and Dr. Oz are having a bro moment where Erick is asking Dr. Oz to get him an "amiga" because he needs one" - a perfect capture of the most revolting line of the evening.

David has been acting without thinking and doesn't appear to properly process information. As his stock continues to plummet, he now adds an Eladio/Nina pairing to his long list of misconceptions.

I'm not sure that Eladio and Julia should reunite. But I am waivering a bit after reading mi amiga Judy's astute observation on Eladio: " No flirtation with Nina, no dissing Julia and no letting others (David, Daniela) diss her either". Very true.

Julia has been "sniveling" Variopinta, I agree. I hope the writers shift back and give us a Julia who grows strong and independent and who decides with her mind and heart what she wants to do. Right now she seems jealous and rather desperate.

Leticia, I've been musing on Justino's fate for a few days now. I believe he will either be instrumental in bringing Franco down or die trying.

Diana

Mauricio what an awesome recap. Thank you

"Eladio is like WTF"

Something is wrong with me, an image of crazy Julia just pops in my head intermittently during the day, eyes rolling around and arms flapping. First couple times I laughed, now I jump, I'm worried.

thanks, Mauricio, for another of your excellent recaps. They are always a Saturday treat .

well, I still do not get it. I just do not get it. Neither Julia or Regina understands that when you drop a hottie, some other girl will soon be picking him up. I am particularly tired of Julia's stricken look every time she sees her ex with another woman. Really, Julia, did you truly expect Hotladio to be alone and celibate for long? You divorced him...time to move on. Even Judyb has been noticing the new and improved guy.

It appears that Eladio, like me, has come to realize the wisdom of just keeping your mouth shut sometimes. It took me a whike to learn this , but it is often very effective.

Well, I am watching the season one Outlander marathon on Starz while doing the week's laundry . I wonder if Petra is doing the same.

tofie...yeah..That constant look of outrage on Julia's face has burned itself into my consciousness, too. I have to say that despite her angst she always looks impeccable.Girl has not let herself go in spite of her unhappiness .

Judyb...."I like the new, improved family sized package of Eladio" That gave me a giggle.

Hey now Susanlynn...and what's this about EVEN JudyB has noticed. I'm old but I ain't blind honey.

Judyb..tee-hee...I just got a kick out of "the package" part of your comment. Grin ;)

Recaps by Mauricio are always a hoot! And with a nice glass a wine, what w great way to spend some time.

I don't know where the writers are going with Julia. She loves him, she loves him not. And why does her DIVORCED husband not get to be with whomever he wants when he wants...and why does she automatically assume that his talking to Nina just HAS to be to bug her. Guess the fact her son dates the other woman's daughter couldn't possibly have anything to do with it. And frankly, I think her going overboard ( how many times did she visit David in two days with the same spiel) about wanting David to break it off with Daniela has nothing to do with Gina or Daniela's issues, but it's all about wanting to get him and Eladio distant from the Nina. With Gina, that wasn't a problem since she was independent and willing to move out of town. And no, Julia, your son is more than an adult. You can worry about, parents never stop, but his problem are not YOUR problems to be fixing and sticking your nose into. THought she had a job?

Said it before, say it again, are we suppose to be rooting for any of these four people?

As far as the young 'uns go, maybe a bit of her self-analysis is getting to Daniela. Some interesting comments made to her idiot brother. Maybe there is hope...though I bet the writers still go there with either her getting an accidental OD ( courtesy of a vengeful ASSmore??).

Hate there is that stupid paid for custody order because Connie could just take her son and get out of dodge. Auggie could help her find someplace safe. She should just walk away from that whole family right now and that includes Moopey Miguel.

How many more episodes? Seems we have soooo much to tie up.

Daisynjay

I should qualify by saying I've understood Miguel through this, but right now, he should leave the woman alone until Erick can be dealt with. Let Connie work Auggie on the custody, blowing the lid on the fraud over that, and THEN he can move in and they can be a couple. Just sayin'

Daisynjay

Gracias, Mauricio. Good work.

Consuelo only offered her company shares; the Chimp didn't take them. Augustin really needs to step in and solve this situation ASAP although proving that the judge in the custody case is corrupt might be a challenge.

Good move on Arturo's part to expose Ape Child, who wasn't smart enough to consider this exam an assault. He was just smart enough to realize that he's busted now.

Pedro had to return because there might not be another way for Ape Child and Francofurter to find out that he's been playing both sides of the street.

As to the Ick Factor of a guy and two sisters, I have to remind everyone that a classic novela most of us love, the 1993 Corazon Salvaje had two sisters and two brothers in a game of musical beds in which the nasty sister boinked the hijo natural, then married his "legitimate" brother while the hijo natural married the other sister and fell in love with her.

I'm guessing that Miguel has not been completely absolved of the assault charge as a result of the second opinion but at least he now qualifies for bail since there is now no charge of attempted murder. Unless Agustín decides to speak up about Miguel's boasting to him right after he beat Erick:

*"He wishes death on Erick. Auggie says that he’s gonna pretend that he didn’t hear that."

*Cynderella

Carlos

Thank you Susanlynn, Carlos, NovelaMaven, JudyB, Daisynjay, tofie, and Urban.

The return of Pedro will certainly stir things up. I can see him pulling an Assmore and attempting to get money out both Erick and Franco in exchange for keeping quiet with what he knows about both of them. Of course doing that could get himself offed by either man.

Mauricio, "..... a "mozo"...... (A possible love interest for Petra, perhaps? Now there's a romance worth watching.)" Yes! Yes! Yes! A Petra boda too? Pleeeease!

Also, "Caridad is just so exasperating. (The Patio agrees with Marintia for what is possibly the first and only time ever ever)" Any patio agreement is welcome at this point!!!!

Thanks Mauricio, entertaining and instructive as usual, as Leticia said, "...... the recap is funnier and even more entertaining" than the episode.

JudyB, "I like how Eladio is handling this marital mess. No flirtation with Nina, no dissing Julia and no letting others (David, Daniela) diss her either. Personality transformation, like physical healing, seems to proceed at the speed of light in these telenovelas. Bruises and limps seem to disappear overnight, no why not toxic personality defects." Thank you for expressing my thoughts in such a way beautiful way!

Gringo: Erick will hire Pedro to kill Miguel!

Diana, you are so right about David not properly processing information. I started noticing when several epis ago Eladio first told him that he was going to let Julia have the divorce she wanted so badly. He super dramatically threw his arms up in the air as if shielding himself from rocks or something. He gets exasperated and worked up so easily.

Yes, I love the way Eladio doesn't let anyone disrespect Julia.
Like Gringo I really like this novela, and I look forward to all things PyP, recaps, comments everything.

My daughter and husband bought me this gorgeous shawl with Frieda's image on the back.

I told them that I wanted to wear it to the Frida restaurats in TN or California. I tried putting a picture of my Frida shawl on this comment, but couldnt figure out how to.

Leticia

1.) Justino better watch his back because if Franco finds out what he's doing.... Justino is TOAST!

2.) Julia is STUPID! She'll never get a backbone!

3.) Purple Lips & Eladio together: I foresee them going down in flames!

4.) Clara needs to watch her back too!

5.) Erick IS the OJ Simpson of the TN. Miguel & Connie better watch out because they're going to get whacked!

Leticia, we 'd love for you to join us for a Margarita at the California Frida Restaurant! While we have many Mexican Restaurants in Tennessee, we don't have Gringo's favorite here.

Is your shawl Frieda Kahlo? She has always been a fascinating character for me.

I like PyP too!!! must see tv!

Hey Mauricio, good recap. There seems to be alot of a lot of whining. Regina continuing to whine about david and dani, Julia whining about eladio and nina. erick whines about miguel and connie, so much whining.
Julia is so jealous. Im enjoying eladio tryin to figure it out. This could be a romantic comedy if some of these folk weren't so mean. Wouldn't It be great if after all this stupidness everybody ( meaning artty and nina & eladio & juls) went Back together? These people are going to end up with one or the other.

Regina & david, dani and jorge, I agree, yawn!!!!! Gina's hurt cuz her stupid bro hates her, get over It girl. Even dani has gotten over his tantrums.
Chimpboy, (hey why do you guys call him chimpboy)? Is just really pathetic. You think maybe he'll grow by the end of the show? I don't. And caridad is rather annoying.

Now we're going sit through erick come up with one of his diabolical schemes to stop miguel and connie from more canoodling together.

Okay this is all I got for now. Mauricio thank you, great recap.

Thanks for your great recap Mauricio. My favorite line was also Sandy's "Caridad is just so exasperating. (The Patio agrees with Marintia for what is possibly the first and only time ever ever)" Excellent (said in Mr. Burns voice)!

As Nina(blogger not the character) said, there was a lot of whining in this episode. Basta people. Thank goodness for the hope of a love interest for Petra. And I'll really hate the writers if poor Justino gets whacked.

Diana, David's continued stupidity just makes it more painful to want him to get a happy ending with the equally annoying Regina. And I'm encouraging you to stay the course, Julia needs to be alone and have more therapy. Our friend JudyB made an excellent observation about Eladio's change and its true, he seems stable. But was know neither one of them is sane. She's either sniveling, as you observed, and he's obsessed with her. If they get together any time soon, the revelation about Franco's true character will break them up again.

NovelaMaven, thanks so much for your wonderful recap also.

Carlos---Miguel beat the crap out of Erick and is guilty of assault and battery and should be punished irrespective of what ever Erick himself is guilty of or deserves.----Yeah-yeah--yeah Carlos. Remember that Miguel #1 was guilty of murdering Eusebio for "attempted" rape of your favorite bad girl Lucia. You were practically tap dancing on top of the patio tables praising Miguel for murder. After all, Eusebio was a low classed person with no chance of ever turning his life around and so Miguel #1 was just fine playing God as well as judge, jury and executioner. Of course, Miguel #1 was a rich rancher and so murder was just fine in that case.

Now let's take a look at Erick---He "did" rape Consuelo, it wasn't "attempted." What did Erick get for it, a punch in the nose by Miguel#2. Well Consuelo isn't your favorite bad girl so I would expect you of leading the charge to get Miguel#2
locked up with the jailers key being thrown away. Carlos, what planet did you come from? Planet Texas? Ok it must be the tequila then.

the gringo

Thank you for your excellent recap, Mauricio. I agree with you that poor Petra needs a love interest. I loved the scene when Regina is asking Petra, who has some gardening sheers in her hand, for some breakfast and in comes Dani and her friend and she ask Petra for coffee, I believe, then the baby cries so Petra tells them the baby comes first and makes a good point that she needs help with all of her duties. I love the humor her scenes add.

I thought it was stupid of Eladio's Dr. Phil to continue talking to Eladio outside of the privacy of his office, Julia should not have heard any of that.

David's tantrum at the end of the episode was so annoying, I liked him at the beginning of this story but now he seems shrill and childish, he and Regina deserve each other.

Steve, I think you're right about Erick, when his plan to put Miguel in prison fails, he's going to lose it.

Sorry, that Petra scene was in Thursday night's episode.

Lily, about Petra, she also had the turtle to feed.

I think its very odd that a mansion that size only has Petra. Other mansions with comparable size and family members have several, but in this TN Petra does everything......well at least nina is going to add another employee, what took her so long?? And yes, shrill describes David's yapping. He is nice looking, but that high pitched shrill voice of his.....nomas no!

Leticia

Leticia, you are dead right about the servants in this tale. Most novelas have a whole crew of them and some have stories of their own, but since this is a story about two familial generations with more issues than National Geographic, I think they cut that story element for time so that we only see the two main female servants and two chauffeurs, Callao and Efrain, because he they are Eladio's henchman. We know that there is a gardener at the Montenegro property and that multiple chauffeurs are employed by both families. There should be maids and a cook or two in both mansions.

Yeah, that's right writers, get Petra some action! Let's ignore for a moment that you have seventeen mind-numbing storylines going on right now, NONE of which you have any trivial hope of bringing to fruition in the available time.

Short of a nuclear blast and a funeral involving bulldozers, even professional storytellers would be hard pressed to wrap this train wreck up in less than a TN lifetime. So go ahead and in lieu of making sense of all this, cut to a Payless commercial and then back to the new gardener licking the makeup off the maid.

Aye yie yie.

gringo,

Good morning and thanks for your interest. As I see things, here are the differences in the two situations:

In CI, Miguel rode up and saw Eusebio squatting over Lucía who was struggling and screaming bloody murder as Eusebia was attempting to rape her. Miguel didn't know whether he was armed or not so he took aim and shot him deaad. I believe that here in Texas that would have been seen as justifiable, in California, perhaps not, in Mexico, who knows? Had Eusebio actually raped Lucía and run away, and then if Miguel had tracked him down and killed him, I would have a very different opinion and would believe that Miguel should have been prosecuted and punished. But that was not the case and as it happened, he prevented a rape of his wife.

In PyP Erick raped Coni and left, Miguel found out, sought Erick out and beat him. He did not prevent the rape, he was extracting revenge. In Texas he would be prosecuted and punished, I suspect that the same is true in California and Mexico as well.

Now, I'm sympathetic with the actions of both Miguels but from a legal as well as moral perspective there is a big difference... at least in my opinion.

NEXT!

Carlos

Thanks, Mauricio. Terrific recap.

She [Julia] calls him out over blabbing to Daniela that she asked him to break up with her. David says he was just being honest.

To add to the many things David does that irk me, he tells Daniela what Julia said about her. Just dumb. Cardinal rule: When mom says she doesn't like your choice of girlfriend, don't tell said girlfriend because if she one day becomes your wife, she'll bear a grudge against her mom-in-law.

I saw a lot of foreshadowing of Franco's downfall in this episode. I'm picturing him trading places with his mom. He's sent to prison for attempted murder and embezzlement, while Marintia and some new man she hooks up with raise little Franco without him. The only person who visits him in the joint is Caridad, who annoys and annoys.

Eladio is pretty self-righteous gloating to Arturo about his lousy fathering of Daniela. But will Eladio take any blame on himself with he discovers what a perfect snake Franco is?

Julia, it's fun seeing Nina stick it to you after your past kissy face with Arturo.

Eladio is in no position to lecture anyone about being a parent. The way he treated David all those years? No way in hell.

Which makes me wonder whether David was away at school for extended periods of time. We weren't told this but that could have been the case.

Re: Frankenfurter, it is just heartbreaking to see a snake begging so fervently for an anvil. Frankie Boy, may all your wishes come true. I haven't figured out how his BFF Pedro figures into this. Pedro seems to be the only 'for hire' thug in all of central Mexico, so this could go many different ways.

So many people in this are showing almost human intelligence, if they were a crumb smarter, maybe some anvils could start falling. I'll take a Frankenfurter anvil over maid gets laid any day. Just sayin'.

Characters like Pedro don't get developed in these stories, but I could see him having sufficient intelligence and social skills to seek out someone rich enough to pay him to do something they don't want to soil their hands on. I'm sure he's also getting his jollies off playing both sides of this street, laughing at both Ape Child and Francofurter behind their backs.

Although we have been discussing these characters' Karmageddons for while, I will start writing up a specific discussion lead topic.

A question to anyone who knows: Are the final 10 episodes in Mexico half-hours to accommodate the early episodes of its replacement? We are 14 episodes behind at the moment and we had been told that the Mexican finale date is April 10 .

We missed you last week, Mauricio, but you returned with a resounding bang! Thank you for this wonderful recap. I especially enjoyed that you outlined the irony of the leading medical experts having to examine a non-existent simian brain!

So many entertaining comments, you guys are a hoot!

"two familial generations with more issues than National Geographic" Hahahaha! UA, you nailed it! This should go on an official review of this confused and convoluted, but oh-so-addictive series.

Kirbo your comment @ 12:22 was hilarious! Love how you read these characters for filth!

Diana and Leticia, you are so right about David! The actor's portrayal doesn't help things either. I don't like his act-by-number method. Same sh*te, different scene. Consuelo, or rather the actress playing her, does the same with her own one-dimensional acting recipe: Emphasize word, furrow brows, touch neck... Lather, rinse, repeat. ¡Ya me tienen harta estos dos! (I've had it with these two!).

Daisynjay, Diana, Variopinta, Leticia, Karen, Nina, Tofie et al., I too do not understand Julia. I have stopped understanding her ages ago. She is getting worse with every episode to the point where her constantly crazed look and her repeated utterings of "Estoy confundida" and "No sé" are becoming just creepy. "Why won't he help me with my actions?" whines Princess Confundida. What is he? Nostradamus? If you don't ask, he can't tell! Besides, didn't you tell him, like a bazillion times before, to leave you alone and stop begging for your love and forgiveness? Julia has reached a stage where she pretty much personifies the metaphor of the dog in the manger. Except that this dog runs around between Eladio and Arturo, peeing all around them to mark her territory. Every time either guy annoys her and/or his adoration wanes, she rushes to pee on his leg! Still, Susana González is arguably the most beautiful, graceful and elegant TN actress I've ever seen! She is my TN girl crush! <3

JudyB, Susanlynn, Sandy et al., let me join your Eladio swooning squad. He is el malo más bueno! A baddie so good, a villain so noble, an antagonista so protagonista... Still, I preferred him when he was mean! You must have noticed by now that I'm sorta like the female version of our good Dr. Carlos when it comes to villains: I love my villanos! I like them to be complex characters, ruthless, confident, entertaining, suave if they are men and seductive if they are women, with a wicked sense of humor and interesting mannerisms. Eladio fitted this profile to a T but the writers ruined him. Now I just want Eladio to die at the end, so I can properly mourn the death of a missed opportunity to create one of the greatest TN villains ever! :(

Nevertheless, all in all, I'm still enjoying this show, especially with the witty commentary that this Patio provides. Must-see TV, as our dear Gringo likes to say.

Have a great Sunday, everyone! :)

-- UA: The remaining episodes are full episodes. The PyP finale airs this coming Sunday, starting at 7 pm, followed by "El Hotel de Los Secretos" premiering at 9.30 pm. I don't know if the finale is 2 hours or a little over 2 hours but I'll let you know the day after.

My mother used to tell me "If everyone put their problems on a table, you would probably take back your own ."

As we crawl to the end of this tale, if you HAD TO change places with one of the characters , whom would you choose? Remember you could not go back in time and change any of their dumba$$ decisions that got them where they are today!

-- Susanlynn: That's an interesting game! Hmmmm... Let me think.
If I absolutely had to, then I would change lives with Francisco who had the good fortune of being exiled to Tabasco. Or better yet, I would change lives with the Montenegro's gardner who quit around the mid-run of the series. Petra had a major crush on him so he must be a nice fella and he had the good sense of running away from the Montenegro manicomio, I mean, mansion, so he must be a clever fella. :D

No--No--No--Carlos. You won't get away this time with just a simple NEXT! After reading your reply comment I can't even think straight. I made notes of two responses and I still don't know how to put it. You're sending me into outer space.
As you stated, Miguel #2 was exacting revenge for Consuelo's rape. Well, so was Miguel #1. Miguel #1 wasn't preventing the rape of your favorite bad girl, the assault was OVER as soon as Miguel #1 rode up on the scene shouting at Eusebio. A point you may have missed but Lucia had all of her clothes on when Miguel rode up upon them. Anyway, at that point the assault had ended. Miguel however like our PyP
Miguel wanted revenge and so a bullet to Eusebio's head was his satisfaction plain and simple.
You were dancing on top of the patio tables after Miguel murdered Eusebio for an attempted rape and now you are leading a torch light mob to go after Miguel#2 for punching Erick out for Consuelo's rape. It's funny that you had such tremendous compassion for bad girl Lucia but none whatsoever for sweet Consuelo. It seems like you have more compassion for rapist Erick than you do for Miguel #2.

Carlos---It has been said that Texas tequila is stronger than our California variety
and so I now realize why your brain has been foggy all this time. It's not your fault. Do you want me to send you a bottle of California's finest? It's not as strong as the Texas stuff that you have been drinking but ours is more flavorful.

the gringo

If I had to change places with any one of the characters, I would choose Petra. Yes, she's overworked, but emotionally she has a balance and a serenity that is heroic.

She has the ability to feel affection for all these very flawed multi-defective characters. A woman of generous emotion. She has a great sense of humor. A marvelous tenderness with babies. The work she does is useful and needed. And she's an eternal optimist. Prince Charming is just around the corner!!! Maybe.

So yes, I'd put myself in her place in a minute. Just to have that generous human serenity.

Judy, I love Petra too! Just her smile is enough to make her a wonderful choice.

Just to shake it up a bit, I think I'll choose Clara. Clara is a values girl, she looks for stability and normalcy in a guy, not superficial flash. She is a hard worker, not even slightly materialistic. She's strong; when she was being tortured by Franco, being made to get on her hands and knees to clean up a purposeful spill, she quit her job...how refreshing! Clara loves children, even those who aren't her own. She is a fantastic friend, what more can can we ask for? It is Clara for me!

My dear gringo,

...It has been said that Texas tequila is stronger than our California variety..."

I can't imagine who says that since all Tequila is made in Mexico.

As to your other assertions:

"...the assault was OVER as soon as Miguel #1 rode up on the scene shouting at Eusebio."

You might want to look at the scene again. As you'll see, Miguel didn't shout at him, he shot him...dead. Eusebio was never aware that Miguel was there at all.

"It seems like you have more compassion for rapist Erick than you do for Miguel #2."

It may seem that way to you but that is simply untrue. I want Erick punished for Coni's rape as much as anyone but Coni pretty well shut the door on that by not reporting the rape after it occurred.

"...so I now realize why your brain has been foggy all this time."

I don't question your intelligence, visual acuity, hearing, or sobriety, perhaps you could show me similar respect.

Carlos

Susanlynn,

I choose Lucita. Sure, she lost her mom but everything else seems to be going well for her. Her dad loves her and a loving, pretty new mom is in her future. Besides, she has a whole life ahead of her to screw up however she sees fit.

Carlos

Thank you Steve, Nina, Karen, Lily, Niecie, and Nandicta.

A great question Susanlynn. Hmm.. I'm not sure who I'd switch places with. Maybe Justino. He's a nice and hardworking man who is also a good father and who will make a great husband.

NovelaMaven, I forgot to thank you for the explanation of what "an arrow to the liver" means. Thank you so much. I understand it now. It's certainly one of those things that sounds better in Spanish, though. :)

Carlos, I have changed places with Clara, you with Lucita. I can't visualize you as my little baby!!!

Sandy,

MOM!

Carlos

Mauricio,

¡Ola mi amor!

Sandy

I will trade with Monseratt. She'e missed all this.

:-)

She's

Ok Carlos---LOL It was a meant as a joke in this crazy back and forth but you got me---tequila comes from Mexico. I was just thinking that it must be something--the water maybe? Eusebio didn't know that Miguel was there. When a galloping horse with a rider yelling is almost next to you, you know it and there is mare but as Sandy? has said, and sometimes others, we will just have to agree to disagree. I don't think that we will ever come to an agreement on this one.

Leticia with a Frida shawl would be awesome. If things keep going like this, we might eventually fill up the outside area.

I saw a documentary on Frida Kohlo, she had a very rough life and went through a lot
of terrible pain for several years. I'm glad that I didn't have to walk in her shoes

Susanlynn---I think that I would choose Justino. He's honest, a good worker and he has won the heart of sweet Clara. Now if he doesn't get whacked.

Kirbo---Is the new gardener really going to lick off Petra's makeup?

must see tv
the gringo

hmmm...not many choices left.I guess that I would be Regina. Yes, she has endured a weird family , but she had a good education and seems to be good at her chosen profession. (I hope that I don't have to do a lot of math but...) I like George. He is a good boyfriend ,and he seems loyal and totally devoted to Reg despite her family .

Carlos....I had completely forgotten about Ewwwsubio. AFter he was killed, didn't his twin show up? P.S. Still have not gotten my Drambuie.

Mauricio and gringo....after reading many comments from both of you, I would be willing to bet that you are both good guys..just like your choice Justino. ;)

I was wondering..is it hard to post those little photos by a comment?

gringo,

"I think that I would choose Justino."

Yikes!

Daddy?

Carlos

Carlos...is that Henry Fonda in your new photo? Who is the other guy, and what is the film?

So..Bob's your uncle, and gringo is your dad!! Heh

Susanlynn, see what you have started! I chose Clara, now I have two Justino novios, Mauricio and gringo.....and have Carlos as my baby! As Arturo would say, ¡Caramba!

Those who choose, "Google Account" under "Choose an identity" can use personal or online photos to post with their comments.

Oh Gringo. I am just speculating.

♥Susanlynn,

Yes, that is Henry Fonda, the movie is The Ox-Bow Incident, and believe it or not, the other guy is Henry Morgan (Col. Potter in Mash). I like the ambience.

Carlos

sandy...yes, you have a whole new telenovela happening around you. It's just me and Jorge...and that Turtle...and that ponytail.

Carlos..They look like good drinking buddies. However, I would rather be "Rio Bravo" with three of my favorite guys..Ricky Nelson, Dean Martin, and John Wayne. Belly up to the bar , boys.

Oh Damn! Sorry to upset your applecart yet again Carlos. I didn't read your pick, really I didn't. I was laughing about your tequila comes from Mexico comment. It was a tongue in cheek joke really and it tickled me when I read what you wrote. When I got down to your last line Aretha Franklin's song Respect came to mind and I couldn't stop it in my mind. I decided to send my response right away and read the rest of the comments later and so as I said, I didn't see or know your pick. Do I have to choose again?

the gringo

Hummm, I'd choose to be gaby, but I would sharpen my mental eyesight & my intuition. That way I could spot the lying two faced jerky jachass bastard that Im married too. And a lot sooner than they have her finding out on this tn. But I guess they have to st-re-tch it.

Julia is trying to have her cake and eat it too, and the factory that makes the cake. Shes enjoying that attention. She better hope the right one don't get tired of her pingpong act. She should maybe choose before the thrill is gone.

gringo,

"Do I have to choose again?"

Heck no, I think you'll make a great dad. Now, may I have an ice cream cone?

Carlos

Nina, I don't agree. I don't think that Julia is enjoying this at all. I think it's stressing her out.

Julia isn't used to standing up for herself in any real way. The first half of her life she was dominated by a controlling and abusive father, the second half by a husband who was worse. She almost equates abuse with love because she doesn't know much of anything else.

Is everyone forgetting Eladio's constant verbal insults and threats all through the first 50 episodes? The non-abusive Eladio was a six-month illusion that is fading upon the discovery of his 21-year deception about Franco. Nina coming on to him right on the heels of that is a guarantee that Julia will see Eladio as she knew him for 25 years.

She still hasn't found out about Marintia and Mateo. When Julia does find out about this she will hold Eladio personally responsible for Franco becoming what we know him to be. I still haven't figured out whether this discovery will come before or after the discovery about Franco's financial shenanigans, but that will finish Eladio in Julia's eyes.

Good point UA, but Im lookin for this to go any which way but the right way. Whichever way that is.
The next few weeks should fun.

I know many of you are Outlander fans. I am officially hooked now on watching Outlander. I recorded and viewed many of the previous season's shows on the Starz marathon. It took me awhile to realize that Clare's contemporary husband is the evil Black Jack sadist 200 years ago.

Which Outlander discussion forum is the best, or has the most activity?

Gobluefan..Welcome to the wonderful world of Outlander and hot Scot Jamie. If you go to "CompuServe Outlander" fans of the books have been having interesting conversations about every aspect of the story and characters including occasional comments by the author Diana Gabaldon. She wrote the first book in 1991. She is now working on book #8 plus there are shorter novelas. I have not had the courage to join the conversation yet. I also check "samcaitlife" which posts info and photos of the actors . "Outlander online" and "Outlander Starz" also have photos and info. "Killing Time" is a site by Connie Verbak that has very funny screen caps of every episode. The new season starts April 9 on Starz.

Nina.."and the factory that makes the cake.". Ha ..That gave me an early morning giggle. Julia likes cake !!!

OT..Outlander fans..There will be a panel discussion of season two on Tuesday April 5 ..a live webstream at TelevisionAcademy, com 7.30 ET

UA: How astute about Julia. As you look at the big picture she has male users 'abusing' her, if you will, for around 40 years. She has had 'non-abuse' though a fresh divorce can't be considered nurturing, for what, three months? No wonder she has the deer in the headlights look most of the time. She has no reference for normal, she's winging it.

Which Nina made the cake post?

:-)

Carlos...Have you thought about a Father's Day gift for gringo yet? A nice tie, perhaps? ..a bottle of Drambuie?..or maybe a turtle ?

Luista has not had much screentime lately. However, she will probably show up as the flower girl in the wedding. ...patent leather shoes and a frilly dress...

Julia's "abuse" has been muddled by the writers. She has said many, many, many, many times that she stayed in the marriage for Humberto's health security and worse, to ensure that David got his patrimony at GLM. Her reasons for staying, according to the action in the capitulos, was to insure position, money and financial heritage for David. She had a plan and pursued it. She even tried to block Franco's shares in favor of her son. David, remember, wanted to make his success on his own and argued with his mother on this. Julia was adamant, never the sniveling wallflower as she pushed David. "David, you get in there and get what is your due," was her mantra. Perhaps the writers did this as they realized there was push back on Eladio as a villain, Julia's victimhood needed to be softened for a revised ending????

Yup. Girl was auctioned off to the highest bidder. Raped. Bore a child.
Oops! What the hey? She still has some maternal instinct left? Damn that conniving floozie.

But Sandy, in your corner, Julia DID marry for all the wrong reasons. A broken heart over infidelity does not come close to being reason enough to marry one who you do not love. IE: Some seem to think caught in the act is license to kill, it is not. It is your signal to leave, now, or join the fun.

I don't know what the writers are trying to pull on us. My fear is that they are in the same boat.

What I think happened is that viewers didn't like seeing FC portray a villain although he was clearly in the right zone to do it. He's at the age where he knows that his days as a constant romantic hero are numbered. He's been able to escape this so far because his looks have held up well and he doesn't have the basso profundo voice like CE. The writers then decided to give him a miracle psychiatric makeover (which is not realistic) in order to shore up the ratings. They also caused some damage to JS's character in the process. I'd love to know how the actors feel about this.

For Julia to stick with Eladio because of David's inheritance is very realistic. She could have made a decision to ditch Eladio once he put David in his will as his principal heir and David was well-employed. That was compensation for all those years of suffering both at his hands and those of Humberto whose gambling addiction was a contributing factor to the marriage. She was so beaten down by both Humberto and Eladio she was in no position to go out and get any kind of work. She is still struggling with self-reliance, which is also realistic.

When Eladio gave 20% of the company shares to Franco Julia's anger was justified. She knew all along that Eladio is David's sperm donor and we know that Eladio avoided the proof for 20 years because he wanted to maintain control over her. Also, he must have had the narcissistic viewpoint that because David was not like him temperamentally he couldn't have been truly his son, DNA notwithstanding. Franco, on the other hand, was his carbon copy in that respect and also looks more like him.

If Eladio had given Franco 10% I don't think Julia would have cared. As far as she knew Franco was an orphan without any other relatives and he was a valued right-hand man in the company. He also seemed to care for her and to love Gabriela. She didn't object in the past to him publicly stating that she was the only mother he had ever known. Now that she knows of the 21-year deception as to Franco's origins she should never forgive Eladio that. This had to have made her look like a total fool to the world.

20% of the company shares is more than enough to cause trouble, which Eladio will find out very shortly.

The writers gave him the psychiatric miracle because the viewers would have preferred to see FC and SG as the loving couple they saw before in another novela. They should have realized that this could not erase Eladio's sins. Especially the rapes and subsequent insults and imprisonment. Let's not forget about her original birds. It started feeling like Rosemary Rogers was on the writing team.

We've been told that SG originally hoped to be playing Nina instead. Would the writers have done this if she had been cast as Nina and another actress as Julia?

UA, "They also caused some damage to JS's character in the process. I'd love to know how the actors feel about this." I agree and wonder about the actors myself.

"For Julia to stick with Eladio because of David's inheritance is very realistic." UA, perhaps you are right, but remember, if you believe your assessment of Eladio's character and abuse, sending her only child/son into this place of abomination was very irresponsible on her part. Again, as you said, her character is damaged!

I like Julia and wish her the best.....several years of character building/healing as a real estate agent, then a reunion with Eladio...with Judy's miraculous psychological recovery under his belt!

UA...Good points. I also think that writers are thinking of Amor Real in which FC as Manuel started out charming and fell in love at first sight when he met Matilde (Adela Noriego). Then, Manuel discovered that her mother had pushed her
to marry wealthy Manuel and that she had planned to run away with her novio on the wedding day. He raped her as they traveled to his ranch on their noche de boda. Then, they fell in love , but when the novio appeared again, Manuel went BSC. He threw pregnant Matilde out , went on a bender, took the smarmy housekeeper as his mistress. He thought that the baby was the novio's . I remember thinking "Geez, how could this guy possibly be considered the galan", but the writers redeemed Manuel and had the previously sweet novio become The BSC one, and reunited Manuel and Matilde in the end. I have a funny feeling that is what is going to happen here.

I think that Julia is guilty of pulling off one of the earliest and most damaging deceptions of this TN by marrying Eladio in the first place. Generally when a woman agrees to marry a man it implies that she is willing if not eager to have sex with him. Whatever benefits she was to receive from the marriage to Eladio were in exchange for her agreement to participate in the marriage as a wife in every sense of the word. By rejecting him on their wedding night, she set the wheels in motion for all the bad that she has suffered since. Was Eladio justified in raping her? Of course not, but he did have expectations that were not met, reacted selfishly and violently, and both have suffered ever since. As things are now, we see that he had the ability to function as a good and loving husband within him whether he is faking it now or not. Too bad that he didn't meet and marry Nina instead of Julia, you can bet that she wouldn't have rejected his advances and would have been happy as a clam. Julia turned out to be simply too complex and high maintenance.

Carlos

There are always WTH plot lines in novelas, but Eladio's "David isn't my son," for 20 years, when clearly DNA could have cleared up this question in the matter of months..... is a WTH novela winner. Even our disagreeable Patio could have agreed that this was a super silly plot idea and come up with a better plan. Then for Julia to go to Arturo, for DNA to prove that Art wasn't David's father......that caused more problems that solutions Oh dear......

Alborado started with a weird rape (?) scene too, if you call tricking a sleeping woman into thinking that you are her husband and proceed with ........Actually, I'm not sure what you would call that, but I'm sure it isn't legal.

Carlos, I completely agree on Julia. Then after her wedding night, she carried on this abstinence farce for 20 years while she made sure that her son had his inheritance and her father was cared for. When Julia asked for her divorce, Eladio was more than generous with her, if she couldn't abide him, she should have gotten out sooner. There is a chink in her victimhood armor, a purposeful deliberation of her actions, not fear.

For me the biggest WTH in this show is falling in love with your rapist & jailer after 20 years. This followed very closely with Julia the one woman two powerful men must have. Don't buy either.

Carlos..now there is an interesting scenario.Art never bunnyhops with Miguel's mother, and he and Julia marry. They send Hum to live permanently in a Vegas retirement home. Auggie gets to just do his regular job because he doesn't have to constantly put out family fires for Art. Hotladio marries Hotnina , and the bunnyhopping is so hot that fires break out all over their general vicinity. The two are so busy that Eladio never strays , so Caridad and Ratty McRaterson are never in the picture. Bonus..Frankfurter is never born. I like it .

Sandy...Actually, in Alborada, that was not rape. Our blog mom recapped that show before she started caraycaray. She used to call Luis (FC) the Mystery Boinker of Santa Rita because he was blackmailed by Hippolita' nasty mother in-law to do the deflowering because her son (who had had an unfortunate experience) was not up to the task. Hippolita thought that Luis was her hubby when he climbed into her bed that night and was pretty happy about the whole thing.

OT..Outlander fans ...may I recommend and excellent video of a recent panel discussion by the actors, writers, and show runners on season one and two...at "samcaitlife"

Twenty years is a long time.

Yeah..what would you call that in Alborada? Hippolita was happy about the whole thing until she found out that it was not her hubby the next morning.

Susanlynn, yes, I'm not sure what you would call "that" in the beginning of Alborada, but I do remember that Luis wanted nothing to do with the MIL's nasty plan, but jumped into Hippolita's bed when he was about to be captured. Oh well, we have enough problems in this novela, no need to borrow those from Alborada.

FC has gotten himself in many weird compromising novela situations!!

tofie, you'll just have to float along with the rest of us! If we start thinking too much, our heads will start hurting!

Yeah. I'm still glad I'm MonsteRatt.

OT...Sandy...speaking of weird compromising situations, since you have not read the Outlander book series but are watching the TV show...just wait until you find out some of the weird compromising situations our Jamie gets into.. just sayin'...I nearly threw the book out the window.

OT- Outlander

I couldn't find this anywhere. But at the end of season 1, does Captain Black Jack Randall die? I wasn't sure.

Gobluefan..I could tell you, but...don't you want to find out for yourself?

Susanlynn. I saw the last episode, but it was somewhat ambiguous about his fate. Do I have to wait until Season 2 to find out?

I think I'd like to know now, if possible.

I have the first book, but have only finished the first few chapters.

Gobluefan..he survives.;) you are in for more surprises.

Lucita---Certainly you can have an ice cream cone. There is a Baskin Robbins 31 flavors ice cream store right down the street--which flavor do you want?

the gringo

Gringo: We're now in the Home Stretch of "Pasion Y Poder" as the villains still continuing to wreak havoc!

Carlos, this could also be an issue of misrepresentation on Eladio's part. He may have been a complete gentleman to her until the wedding night. There was an episode like that in the Argentine Mujeres Asesinas in which the murder victim was a husband who did not disclose a propensity for sexual sadism until the wedding night. Ana, Sometida, shared some of his kinkiness until she got an extremely bad vibe on the eve of their daughter's quince or some such.

The dismissal of the DNA thing was also nothing new in this series. The controlling husband in Duelo de Pasiones refused a DNA test because "I don't believe in those things."

Steve: How do you say Goat Rodeo in Spanish?

Right Steve---As you have been saying all along, I think that some will be getting wacked soon, although I am really not looking forward to it. Well maybe for a couple of the baddies.

the gringo

UA,

"...this could also be an issue of misrepresentation on Eladio's part."

Which is all the more reason that I think the writers owe us a flashback to that pivotal wedding night. Surely we have not been given the facts we need to make a fair judgement. We instinctively know that rape is wrong but what in the world might have lead to her refusal to participate in normal wedding night activities which provoked the rape in the first place?

Carlos

Dad (gringo) and Mom (Sandy),

I like most flavors of ice cream and my favorite is homemade vanilla hand cranked in one of those old fashioned ice cream churns. From Baskin Robbins I prefer coffee ice cream.

Carlos

The only flashback we had was possibly a lie and that was what played out on the balcony of the Rat's nest on the night she was exterminated. At this late date I doubt we will get any flashbacks of anything else with other stuff to tie up.*

We saw what kind of a husband Eladio was for 25 years in the early episodes. I don't think we need more information than that. We know that he based his accusation of cheating on an encounter between Julia and Arturo that took place before the wedding but we know from a conversation between Julia and Arturo in an early episode that this meeting lasted all of five minutes, did not involve any sexual contact, and took place in the study of what was then Humberto's mansion. I don't recall how he even heard about this (although I'm inclined to suspect Humberto).

*To that point, I suspect that this series will end with a few loose ends.

Carlos...coffee is my favorite ice cream flavor ,too!!

I don't know . The writers led us to believe that it was rape. No means no, right? But I agree that if Julia wasn't planning on bunnyhopping, she should not have married him. Was there any bunnyhopping with Eladio before the wedding?

Mi hijito Carlos, you're in luck, my grandson and I won the Purity Dairy home made ice cream contest a couple years ago. If you have Purity Dairies in Texas, our names are on the side of the package. The flavor is Sea Salt Caramel Cheese Cake. They adapted my recipe a bit, but the basics are the same. I'm told it is one of their best selling brands. Doris, our Patio friend bought some and loved it!!! As my son (daughter?) you'll have as much ice cream as you want as long as you eat your peas and carrots. I use a Cuisinart electric ice cream maker, my skinny old arms can't crank like the good old days. I have a collection of ice cream recipes...you've hit the jackpot.

Wow Sandy, sign me up to be one of your kids also.

That flavor sounds super yummy but no Purity Dairies in California that I know of.

the gringo

If you were my child, I'd miss you as my Caray friend!

As you can imagine, now I have to win the contest on behalf of my other grandson. No rest for the weary....

Meant above comment for Judy!

sandy...sounds like a delicious recipe . My Grandma Ruthie used to make homemade strawberry ice cream with berries fresh from her garden using the old crank ice cream maker. Hubba's mom also made homemade ice cream using an old machine. Delish.

Mom (Sandy),

Now I've got to find a way to get some of that. I wish I'd known about that when we were in Memphis last Summer. I'll bet we could have found some there.

Carlos

Kirbo, Im "♡Nina". I made the "Cake" post. :-).

Good to meet you :-)

Sandy..We do not have Purity Dairies here. I wonder if my cousin Drew has them in Murfreesboro.

Susanlynn, yes, Purity Dairies products should be in Murfreesboro. Tell him to look in the Kroger stores. It is a "Limited Edition" flavor, but it has been in the stores here for quite some time. I'm not sure about Memphis, perhaps yes.

Carlos, were you in Memphis for the barbecue and blues?

Nina. Sorry if it came off wrong. I was pretending that I wondered if the character Nina from the show was writing comments, as she isn't too crazy about Julia also.

Sandy,

It was the last stop on our Mississippi River cruise. We stayed there at the Peabody Hotel for a couple of days. Had barbecue at the Rendezvous. We had lots of great food while we were there but didn't get to go to any of the clubs.

Carlos

Carlos..Hubba and I were thinking about taking that cruise. Did you enjoy it?

Carlos,

Beale Street has its fair share of hooligans, it is probably better that you and Linda spent your time enjoying the Memphis culinary scene.

Susanlynn♥,

We had a great time. It was fun, very relaxing and excellent food. The crew was mostly perky college kids who were very enthusiastic and eager to please.

Sandy,

We got a glimpse of Beale St. from an afternoon carriage ride. It reminded me of Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

Carlos

I'm not a global administrator but can we stay on topic here?

Good Afternoon,
I am way behind in thanking all of the recapping team for all of the brilliant recaps. Thank you to Cynderella, Urban, NovelaMaven and Mauricio. I apologize for not joining you on the patio for comments, but my daily work schedule deters me from doing so. Believe me, I wish I could participate. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for all of your hard work. Gracias!

Hasta Pronto

Thanks

Rodeo de cabra. Rodeo came from Spanish to begin with. One of those 'borrowed intact' words.

Oh poopy. Love interest for Petra ? ? ? ? ? ? N O T

I gotcha kirbo. :-) And you're right, nina montanegro would write her own comment about herself. The woman has got
the woman has got hoospa (I don't know if thats spelled right but you get my meaning). :-)

Ya.

The word is chutzpah.
