Un Camino Hacia el Destino-Week 7 (Apr 4, 2016)

---Notice: Univision has announced a fork in the Camino.  Camino is switching times with Sueno. Camino will be broadcast at 8:00 pm, not 7:00 pm starting Monday night (Apr 4). There has been no reason given why the switch was made (although we might suspect it is doing quite well and they want a stronger lead-in to the show replacing PyP at 9:00).

Carlos and Fernanda are also at a crossroad in their Camino. Fernanda has graduated from the prepa with honors and she has the whole summer ahead of her to decide whether to go to a local university on a full scholarship or study music at a renown school elsewhere. It's not clear where Carlos fits into her dreams. Carlos is ever more committed to a relationship with Fer, but he's faced with Isabela's pregnancy bomb. He wants to keep this information from Fernanda--for now, but too many people in his circle already know. Some want Fernanda to know about it and suffer.

Amelia and Pedro are also at a crossroad in their Camino. Amelia is proceeding with the divorce and plans to tell Fernanda when she returns from her school trip to Cabo. Although she still pines for Luis, she's at the beginning of a new friendship with Lic. Ordoñez, an important bank employee she's met. She's also wants to contact her long-estranged father and to tell Luis that Fer is his daughter. Pedro is conflicted over this turn of events. He's angry and frustrated that all his love and devotion to Amelia in 19 years has not changed her attitude towards him. She does not and cannot love him. She continues to resent him--big time. He does not want Fer to know he's not her bio-daddy.

Luis and Marissa are also at a crossroad in their Camino. Luis is unraveling. He has a lot of yarn going out in several directions getting knotted. Andrea is pressuring him to leave Marissa and marry her; Marissa and Andrea are working together; Mariana has secrets that if revealed, would ruin his source of revenue, namely his marriage to Marissa's bank account. Marissa is still blindly in love with Luis but she is beginning to doubt her retention skills, due to aging and a negative body image. She does note Luis stays out late, is quicker to fly off the handle and resort to fists. Sadly she also sees that years of living in the same household has not improved the relationship between Luis and his stepson.

Nana Blanca and Nana Rosario are also at a crossroad in their Camino. As dearly as she loves him, Nana Rosario must let her boy fledge. Nana Blanca wants her fledgling back in the bosom of the home she was thrown out of. She knows Don Fernando is repentant and deeply regrets having thrown Amelia out when she was pregnant and now wants to be reunited and meet his granddaughter. [Can anybody tell I've been watching the D.C. Eagle Cam?]

Felipe and Isabela are also at a crossroad in their Camino. Felipe has information that could break up Carlos and Fernanda. How good a friend is he. He wants a chance with Fer even though she has given him zero encouragement. His desire may trump loyalty to a friend. Isabela thinks she is holding a golden trump card, an unplanned pregnancy and expects Carlos to marry her. He is resisting, even with his mother on Isy's side. If this deception is uncovered, Isy will become more desperate to find a way to make Carlos hers.

Hernán and Mariana are also at a crossroad in their Camino. He's a jerk and a schemer. She's a hateful, mean-spirited manipulator. >>FF

Thamk for the heads up Anita :-) I'll comment later.

Anita, your "Luis is unraveling. He has a lot of yarn going out in several directions getting knotted" was perfection as was "she is beginning to doubt her retention skills, due to aging and a negative body image".

Ahhh Pedro."He's angry and frustrated that all his love and devotion to Amelia in 19 years has not changed her attitude towards him". I’m angry and frustrated that he continued to lavish Amelia with loving sentimentality over 19 years (as I gulp unbelievably) which she never once reciprocated.

I loved the beach, the ocean and especially the whales. What majestic creatures!

Carlos has much to sort out and to come clean with but I'm still a fan. He and Fer are a match made in heaven. Hernan and Mariana a match made in hell.

Thank you Anita!

Diana

Anita: Thank you! I really am enjoying this TN and your detailed recaps are just the icing on the cake. Thanks for the note about schedule change.
OT: Yes, I am watching the Eagle Cam too! So exciting to check in every couple of days and see that both chicks are still doing well. Now that's real live drama!

Back on topic: It would be so easy to be put off by the age and experience difference between Doc Carlos and the Colegiala, Fernanda. They pull it off, but only because actor playing Carlos is "a sweet Babboo" (did I get that right?).
I find it annoying that he still lives at home and thus his mother feels like she can still order his life. Move out, young man!

EPISODE #29 (Mon Apr 4) Pt. 1
We only have two themes to cover tonight--FUN TIME IN THE SUN and EVERYTHING ELSE--so let’s get going.

FUN TIME
Carlos and Felipe are on the margins, but apparently accepted as part of the school group’s evening dinner al fresco. Carlos is asking Felipe to quit hitting on Fernanda. Felipe knows they are novios. Felipe, in a moment of truth, asks if Camila knows that. Carlos says no, they don’t want to hurt her. [Carlos gets a Big Bronx Cheer from me for this poor excuse of an excuse.] Felipe says it must be great to have these two schoolgirls after him here and cheating on the girl he left at home. Carlos is speechless.

The hotel/restaurant manager gives Fer an opportunity she can’t refuse by handing her a violin so she can play for the assembled diners. Carlos mouths te amo, she replies yo más. This gives the Three Mean Girls the chance to play a prank on Fer. She sits down at the table with the manager and the nuns and is served a covered dish, as are the others.

Amid the general chatter and a toast, Fernanda takes off the lid and finds a cute green iguana. It startles her and she jumps up and spills her drink on the manager. Everyone looks on aghast, except the 3MGs, who are laughing out loud. They couldn’t look any guiltier, so I’m not sure how this happened, but Fer is blamed for the prank. Fer leaves in shame. Carlos runs after her. He catches up with her and calms her down. She’s bummed because Camila and Felipe won’t leave them alone and she wanted all the memories of this trip to be of him. Carlos tells her to ignore them. He asks her to come to his room later. She looks at him as if he were asking her to break one of the Ten Commandments. He just wants an opportunity for them to be able to be alone to talk without having any interruptions. [Yeah, uh hum.]

When the time comes, Camila gets to Carlos’ room just ahead of Fernanda and practically jumps his bones right there on the balcony. She plants a galanbesoparalysis on Carlos. Carlos pulls her off and says no. She’s not dissuaded at all. She keeps hanging on to him, grabbing his face, trying to kiss him again. Carlos is not doing a very good job saying why he’s saying no. He says it’s not right for her to be in his room with him alone. What would her father think if he learned. Suppose the nuns find them and make trouble for him. Carlos has to drag Camila to the door and push her out.

Fer has seen just enough of the this through a hallway window into the room for schoolgirl jealousy takes over. She writes Carlos off as a two-timing cheater and doesn’t want to have anything to do with him again. But inside she’s crying and goes back to her room to ponder the wretchedness of her life and the betrayal by the man she loves. Fer realizes she should have told Camila that she and Carlos were novios long before this, but maybe Carlos is playing with them both.

Camila returns to their room excited to tell Fer all about her encounter with Carlos. No, nothing happened between them, but he promised to see her at another time somewhere. She’s now 100% convinced Carlos is in love with her. Fer can only look at her friend.

A nighttime digression from the Fer-Carlos-Camila Show. Lucero and Prof. Diego are lying on the beach looking up at the stars. They argue over whether they are seeing a shooting star or a comet. She tells him it doesn’t matter and to make a wish. Diego gives her his wish. Her wish is for the guy she likes to notice her. Diego says he’d be a fool not to. She’s the most charming girl he’s met in his whole life. He touches her chin gently with one finger.

Carlos is wandering around the hotel halls looking for Fernanda’s room. He runs into Felipe. Felipe wants to know if he ever saw Camila. She was asking where Carlos’ room was. Carlos says he never saw her. Felipe wants to go to a disco but Carlos wants to stick around the hotel and do some thinking.

Fer has talked herself into believing Carlos is a liar and she can’t ever believe in him again.

EPISODE #29 (Mon Apr 4) Pt. 2 FUN TIME CONT'D
It’s sunny beach time the next day. Fer and Carlos are arguing by the water’s edge. She tells him off. She saw what she saw and Cam filled her in with all the details after. Carlos asks if she told Fer that he threw her out of his room as soon as he could? She flies off and before he can follow, Cam runs up and asks him to go somewhere with her. He says no, No, NO and leaves her. Cam is thrilled. She’s positive now that his no means yes, he wants to be chased until he’s caught.

Cam and Felipe are playing toss the beach ball. Cam wants to be forgiven for how she treated Felipe over his little switcharoo trick with Fer and Carlos. He starts to explain when she surprises him with the news that everything is ok because she knows Carlos is crazy about her. Felipe shuts his mouth and doesn’t disabuse her of the notion. He tells Camila that Carlos came on this trip to be with her and he, Felipe is crazy about Fer.

They all go on a whale watch cruise, but most of the girls seem to be enjoying being in bikinis, taking selfies, dancing and drinking sugary drinks more. Felipe gazes at Fer. Diego gazes at Lucero. Carlos gazes at Fer. The nuns gaze at the whales.

Back on terra firma, Fer and Lucero play in the water. Carlos sits on the beach in a lounge chair next to Camila. She immediately starts to touch him. He flicks her off like a biting black fly, but he never gets up and moves. Fer looks up at him from the water’s edge. She sees him looking at her and smiling. She knows that even if he’s with Cam, she knows his heart is hers and he loves her. Diego pretends to read a book, but enjoys the two girls frolicking in the calm waters, although it’s Lucero that’s making him smile.

Fer has settled herself on the sand. Felipe and Carlos both approach her. Carlos tells Felipe to get lost. He asks Fer to meet him in a secluded spot around a cliff-like promontory. The 3MGs see the assignation and get Camila to take part in something Carolina has thought up to spoil the rendezvous.

Carlos is waiting for Fernanda, talking to himself wondering if she’s going to stand him up. Fer comes around the edge of the cliff and says it’s only locos who talk to themselves. Carlos says yes, someone loco in love. She turns to leave but he holds her back. He is able to tell her everything that happened the night before with Camila, and no, nothing happened between them. Cam is a pest. He can’t help it if she’s obsessed with him. He came on this trip to be with Fernanda and only Fer. He loves her. It hurts that she’s been avoiding him. He grabs a quick kiss. She complains about Felipe. Carlos says that’s no reason for the two of them to be angry with each other, to cause jealousy. The last thing he would ever do is to put their love at risk. Fer tells him she doesn’t know what she would do without his love. Neither can he. The theme song begins as they hold each other and kiss—and make up.

EPISODE #29 (Mon Apr 4) Pt. 3

EVERYTHING ELSE
Ignacio Ordoñez and Amelia have their after work drinks in a nice restaurant. She carefully asks about Marissa’s first husband. He was Ignacio’s best friend, a real tipaso, a good boss and a hard worker. He died of a heart attack much too soon. Amelia asks about the current husband. Ignacio doesn’t hold back expressing his opinion of Luis. Amelia says she’s heard nice things about him. Ignacio says, then she doesn’t know him. Ignacio points out the great age difference and while it’s true Marissa has always loved him, Luis has done a great job of pretending. He knows for a fact that Luis is cheating on her. He tells Amelia he was not in favor of the relationship from the beginning. He’s convinced Luis is an opportunist who married Marissa for her money.

José and Pedro share a drink in a nice cantina where there is no fighting nor betting on the outcomes. Pedro needs to see Felipe to clear up some items in the divorce. José tells him Felipe took a few days vacation, on one of those cruises that stops at every port.

Isabela is bummed because Carlos is proving to be difficult. She has to do something. She can’t lose the man who abandoned her for a school girl. She calls the hospital and learns he’s gone on a trip. She takes her frustration out on an innocent plant.

Amelia is getting her breakfast and is thinking about what Ignacio told her yesterday. Pedro appears and she snaps at him. Pedro says there’s no need for that attitude. Granted they are getting a divorce, but they don’t have to be enemies. He reminds her they do have a daughter to think about.

Isy is still pithed. She’s telling Andrea that it’s because Marissa knew Carlos was going on this mini-vacay but didn’t tell her to save her from being hurt. If it weren’t for the fashion show the next day, she’d jump the chance to go down to Cabo and ruin Fernanda’s little love trip.

Old Fer tells Hernán he’s waiting for a call from Luis Montero to arrange a meeting with Virginia Torres. Nana Blanca brings them drinks and inserts herself into the conversation. Of course he needs to talk to this woman, to clear up how it was that Amelia sold her daughter to a foreign couple. She hopes the woman will tell him the whole truth—and why not offer her some money. Old Fer doesn’t know why, but that name is familiar to him. Hernán tries not to signal he knows anything through his facial expression. [Note: apparently Hernán is now managing Old Fer’s construction business and that’s why Old Fer probably does know who Virginia Torres is.]

Pedro shows up at Marissa’s. He’s brought her another plant. This one goes outside and he asks permission to plant it. She asks him to sit down. They need to talk about their children’s relationship.

Amelia is scrubbing her own toilet, wondering who the woman is that Luis is cheating with. Ignacio calls. He wants to take her out to lunch. It’s Saturday. She accepts. She wears the earrings he gave her. Ignacio and Amelia are enjoying the ambiance, the food and the company. Then, from a mirror on the wall Amelia spies Luis entering behind her. He looks around.

Simply sterling Anita.

"He flicks her off like a biting black fly, but he never gets up and moves" and "But inside she’s crying and goes back to her room to ponder the wretchedness of her life and the betrayal by the man she loves" (ahh, young bittersweet love) were among my favorites.

"Felipe says it must be great to have these two schoolgirls after him here and cheating on the girl he left at home". As annoying as he is Felipe strikes a chord.

Was Amelia really starlted to hear Ignacio's take on Luis? After what he did to her is she really surprised he is a lying, cheating, conniving loser??

I still don't see what Ignacio sees in dour Amelia. I love how you ended this "Ignacio and Amelia are enjoying the ambiance, the food and the company. Then, from a mirror on the wall Amelia spies Luis entering behind her. He looks around".

This seems to be a tale of those who are undeservedly loved (Luis, Amelia) as much as those who deserve to be loved but are not (Fer, Pedro - well at least by Amelia).

The setting was beautiful - much can be forgiven and overlooked when absorbing brilliant sunshine, blue water and playful whales.

Gracias Anita!

Diana

Thanks, as always, for your faithful, entertaining and informative recap, Anita!!

Carlos is exasperating. Why doesn't he tell Flip and Cam what the boundaries are and follow through? Flip is a conniving, oily ambulance chaser, and not worthy of Carlos' friendship. I don't know how smart Cam is supposed to be, but right now she seems to be bathed in the effects of her first hormone rush, and thus incapable of critical thought.

Boy, when this house of cards begins to collapse, I sincerely hope that punishment will be meted out big time for all the nasty evil doers.

I am wondering if, since the girls are now graduated, if the math tutor is now free to pursue Lucero?

Thanks again, Anita! You handle this so well, and your efforts are a huge part of why I am enjoying this tn.

David

"I still don't see what Ignacio sees in dour Amelia."

Same here, Diana. I just don't get why he is interested in her. A quite unrealistic couple in my opinion. Even in Pedro's case I can see that he may still be "in love" with that happy girl Amelia used to be 19 years ago, with that distant memory of her. But Ordoñez? Why did she catch his attention in the first place?

Thank you, Anita!! Wonderful as always!!

Good morning, fellow Camioneros--

Diana and J in Oregon--I'm still behind Carlos, too. He wants to do the right thing by Fernanda, but the deck is stacked against him or he's juggling too many strong-willed women, including his mother. He's just too nice and doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so he takes the wimpy way out. Yes, J, he's Susanlynn's Sweet Baboo (only one b).

David--You said it for me. I was going to apply the word hormonal to the way Camila has been behaving, but it might have sounded a little harsh coming from me. But that is good way to describe her. Too bad she's operating on her own grandiose misconceptions and misunderstandings. She's in for a big fall when she discovers the truth. I wonder if she will give Carlos up or turn into a mini-me Isabela (who already has one named Carolina).

It would be oddly weird to have two May-December pairings in one telenovela. I see Prof. Diego as a wonderful teacher, patient, kind, with a winning smile and wonder to myself why would he be interested in a highschooler. Then I have to check myself because I could be talking about Carlos and Felipe. The only age appropriate women we've met so far for these men are Andrea (taken, sort of), Isy (taken, sort of), Clarita (who is cute as a button but has an ardent suitor) and a bunch of nuns.

Steve--As to what is Amelia's problem, are you speaking in general or did you have something specific in mind? Amelia's problem has been unfolding since the first episode.

Diana and Lucy Lu--Ordonez must have seen something in Amelia. He's very worldly. She's very sheltered, hasn't taken care of herself, doesn't dress well, hardly ever smiles. It was very presumptive of him to bring her a pair of nice earrings when he'd hardly ever spoken to her. He *did* originally interview her for the secretary's job, so maybe there was something there that made him see he was not speaking to a poor working-class woman with limited education. Amelia did tell him she had finished the prepa, so she was college bound. Let's chalk it up to plot device and wait for the make-over!

J in Oregon--As for Carlos still living at home, I concurred that he ought to move out, but then Aleta made this comment last week and I think it's spot on:

"...I think they said (a couple of episodes ago) that his father had bequeathed the family estate to Carlos, not Marissa. So Carlos may feel that he shouldn't have to leave his own house on account of the interloper Luis. And his staying may be passive-aggressive behavior ... another way to get under Luis's skin."

Diana--"This seems to be a tale of those who are undeservedly loved (Luis, Amelia) as much as those who deserve to be loved but are not (Fer, Pedro - well at least by Amelia)." My, you are so insightful and I admire how you can distill 29 episodes into one short sentence and speak the truth.

Could we have a sub-category for those who deserve to be loved but are not? Marissa thinks she's loved, but she's beginning to have some doubts. I was surprised when Ignacio told Amelia he knew about Luis' cheating. I wonder how he found out.

If Amelia is smart, and we have no doubt, despite years of living acrimoniously, she will start to see Luis in a different light. Besides, he's a "married" man and Ignacio isn't. She has indicated to Fer she's a straight arrow, no going against her upstanding principles.

Thank you again and again Anita.

"The nuns gaze at the whales"

"Lucero and Prof. Diego are lying on the beach looking up at the stars" What in heck are we being sold here? A private religious school trip with bikini clad, recently grad school girls, chaperoned by nuns and three adult older males. Who needs a wet T shirt contest and a beer bong?

Anita, Thank you so much for the recap. My fave was also "Felipe gazes at Fer. Diego gazes at Lucero. Carlos gazes at Fer. The nuns gaze at the whales."

Your original post for this week was terrific too. If any new viewers decide to come on board after Sueño as a result of the schedule change, your summary will quickly bring them up to speed.

Methinks these nuns are doing a terrible job at chaperoning. Camila has had an opportunity to get into Carlos's room, and Lucero on the beach with Prof. Diego. I guess they're not taking a headcount.

Anita, thank you for your kind words.

Yes, let's add a sub-category of those deserving to be loved. Marissa certainly fits the bill. I still have hope she and Pedro might be together when "FIN" flashes.

"If Amelia is smart, and we have no doubt, despite years of living acrimoniously, she will start to see Luis in a different light". Astute and very true observation Anita.

Aleta, yes, the dear nuns have rather been (unintentionally) shirking their chaperone duties. I can't blame them for ignoring the longing looks of the young folks in favor of watching the whales. So would I!

Diana

I haven't had a chance to watch last night's episode, but it was if I was watching it in my head while reading your recap! Thanks so much Anita!

WOW! The list of folks joining our little adjunct page is growing! I'm excited.

I'm starting to get a little frustrated at Carlos and Fer for not saying anything to Camila. I would rather Camila be plotting with the knowledge they are together or stepping aside rather than having two Isabella's after Carlos. One is too old for this stupidity (but vanity has a way of distorting reality).

Camila is just stupid. Even as a teenager, I was not that stupid! You have to do attention grabbing things to get a man's attention that do not scream...I'M A DESPERATE LITTLE GIRL...PLEASE LOVE ME! While ignoring all logic and reason. Who said it, "he's just not into you!" the other day. I forgot, but I concur.

Now after I typed that, I realized that it must be true given the jerk that she calls a father. She needs love and her father is pushing her to be with a man that does not want anything to do with her. How do you not realize (Isy also) that he is not affectionate or anything towards you?

But I live in the real world. I'm going to try to watch both tonight, but I have a feeling I may not get to see either. fingers x'd

EPISODE #30 (Tue Apr 5) Pt. 1
We are disposed to continue last night’s themes, with a slight change--LESS FUN TIME IN THE SUN and EVERYTHING ELSE GETS COMPLICATED. Oh, one more thing—SPOILER ALERT: Felipe is a rat fink that deserves to be dismembered and fed to the baby D.C. Eagles.

LESS FUN
Carolina has followed Fer and sees her and Carlos kissing in the cove-like hideaway. She can’t wait to runteldat to Sor Sonrisa because there is a “no novio” clause to the school trip. Carlos and Fer break for air and Fer persuades him they have to be discrete for the rest of the trip and they go back towards the group. They return to the waiting arms of their friends, Camila and Felipe. Cam tries her best to get Carlos to go for a walk on the beach with her, but Carlos is firm-er with his Noes.

A beach volley ball game is taking place. Even Prof. Martinez and Sor Sonrisa are participating. Felipe whispers to Camila that Carlos and Fer are hiding something. He thinks they are trying to separate them. [Huh? Who? Camila and Felipe? Maybe I didn’t hear correctly and it was, they are trying to separate from Camila and Felipe—anyway, I’m too tired to go back again.]

Carlos comes to Fernanda’s room. She stops him at the door. He’s tired of sneaking around. He wants to be able to be out in the open with her. They make a date to meet later at the cinema hall. The movie date was used as an excuse for Carlos to be alone with Fer. They are back in their sandy hideaway. Carlos begins. He has something very important to say to her. It’s very serious and it affects the two of them. He’s not sure how she will take it. Fer is really concerned now. Just as Carlos gets ready to bare his soul to her (presumably to tell her about Isabela and the pregnancy), they are interrupted by Sor Sonrisa. She sends Carlos away and tells Fer she’s in big trouble because he aunt knows she’s here with her novio—remember the no novio rule?

COMPLICATIONS
We take a break of our own from what’s going on at Cabo to bring you the latest on Luis arriving at the mismisimo restaurant Amelia and Ignacio Ordoñez are patronizing. Luis sees Ignacio (it’s easier to type than Ordoñez each time) with a woman. Amelia hides her face, but Luis is intrigued—two colleagues from work having lunch on a Saturday, how picturesque. Ignacio says they are also friends. Luis invites himself to sit down while he waits for a client. He’s smiling as he sits, but as soon as he sees Amelia’s face, the smile disappears. Does he recognize her from the lawsuit or as his long ago abandoned pregnant teenage plaything.

Looking at Amelia, Luis wants to know more about this new bank employee, but, he says, she seems to be uncomfortable with his presence. Ignacio answers there’s no reason she should. Luis turns back to Amelia, is she married, does she have children? Amelia gets up and says she’s going to leave. Ignacio is upset. They haven’t even ordered their meal yet. Luis asks her name. She answers Amelia Perez. Luis is gobsmacked as she strides out. Luis says to Ignacio his client didn’t show up so he’ll leave, too, and scurries after Amelia. Luis sure knows how to ruin a good meal. Ignacio is left standing there without a dining partner and without food.

Amelia takes a cab home. She had no idea she’d run into Luis like that. She wonders why he asked if she were married and had children. She will have to talk to him again. She’s sure Luis will come looking for her at the office to get more information on her life.

EPISODE #30 (Tue Apr 5) Pt. 2
What Marissa wanted to talk to Pedro about was Carlos and his daughter rushing things a bit. Pedro doesn’t understand. Marissa tells him that Fer and Carlos went on a trip together. Pedro states his daughter went on a chaperoned school trip. Marissa assures him she’s telling the truth. Pedro gets quite agitated that Fernanda would do something like that. Marissa has something else to tell him (about Isy, maybe), but the phone rings and she has to go to the spa on some emergency having to do with the upcoming fashion show. They’ll talk later.

Pedro digs a hole for Marissa’s plant. He wonders why Fer didn’t tell him about Carlos going on the trip with her. Marissa has no reason to lie. Fer will have some explaining to do when she gets back. Nana Rosario brings him a drink and tells him she knows all about Carlos and Fernanda being novios. She approves. Pedro thinks she’s getting ahead of herself on this novio thing. It’s not like it’s official or anything. Anyway, she’d like to meet Fer sometime. Pedro is not in the mood for pleasantries, excuses himself and leaves.

Amelia’s taxi arrives at the school gates and a big black SUV has been following her and pulls up behind her. Luis runs toward her, calling her name, “It is you, Amelia Altamirano, the mother of my child.” Amelia wants to know why he’s looking for her after all this time. He says they have a lot to clear up. In the background, Pedro’s truck slows down and passes. Luis says that now that he’s found her he doesn’t want to leave her without talking. Only recently he learned she’d disappeared and no one knew where she had gone. Amelia panics because she saw Pedro’s truck. Luis asks her to call him and gives her his card.

Amelia gets home. She’s shaking. Pedro comes in. He starts out calmly asking who she was talking to, but she lies and says it was someone asking directions. He wants to tell her what Marissa said (about Fer and Carlos), but Amelia isn’t interested in anything having to do with what he and Marissa talk about.

Pedro wants to verify Marissa’s story and goes to see his sister, The Sister. Rosaura calls and leaves a message for Sor Sonrisa to get in touch with her.

Old Fer pressures Mariana to call Luis Montero about meeting with Virginia Torres. He doesn’t care what Mariana says about wasting his time trying to find someone who has disappeared without a trace (that goes for Virginia Torres, too). He insists she may have additional information on Amelia and wants Mariana to call anyway. Mariana does call and is shocked to hear there’s no need to interview Virginia Torres, because Luis found Amelia right there in their own town. He cuts the call short because he’s waiting for a call from her. Mariana wonders how he found her.

Nana Blanca is letting Mariana spin a web of lies about where Amelia might be and what happened to the child. Mariana says one of the nuns told her the story of Amelia going away. Nana Blanca wants to go talk to the nun. She wants her address and phone number. Mariana ignores her.

Amelia finds Pedro gone from the house and calls Luis. He’s grinning like the Cheshire Cat. Pedro, though has walked in and hears Amelia telling Luis they should meet somewhere they can be alone. She, too, wants to talk to him about their daughter. Pedro walks up to the wall phone and cuts off the call.

After Amelia cannot deny she was talking to Luis out by the car or on the phone, Pedro wants to know how long she and Luis have been seeing each other behind his back. They have another row, mainly Pedro’s tirade about Fer’s parentage and how he, Pedro, is the real father who raised her. Luis has no right to call himself her father. Pedro is furious now. Amelia says Luis just wants to know about her, to see Fernanda, what’s the problem with that? Pedro shouts because Fernanda is his, his daughter. They had a deal—Fer was never to know she wasn’t Pedro’s biological daughter.

EPISODE #30 (Tue Apr 5) Pt. 3
Luis wonders why Amelia didn’t call him back. He wants to know who adopted his daughter. Marissa gets home and notes how tense he is.

Nana Blanca offers to call Luis for Old Fer. Luis takes the call and tells Old Fer that Virginia Torres left for the Provinces. That’s all he knows. Well, he does know where Amelia is, but this he doesn’t tell Old Fer.

Amelia tells Lupe about seeing Luis again and now he knows Luisa Fernanda is his daughter. So, says Lupe sarcastically, after all this time, he comes crawling out from under a rock. Did he recognize her? Amelia says that’s what she’s been dreaming about all these years.

Pedro is back at Rosaura’s glass office at the school telling her his side of the Luis story. She also wonders why after all these years Luis is coming looking for Amelia. She wants Pedro to calm down. She also mentions she talked to Sor Sonrisa about the boyfriend business. Fer calls her from Cabo. She swears she didn’t know Carlos was coming. She didn’t ask him to come. He surprised her by showing up. Rosaura says that is unacceptable behavior. She’s saying this not as her aunt but as the director of the school. She hands the phone to Pedro. Fer tells him the same story and admits she and Carlos were seeing each other while on the trip.

LESS FUN
At a fiesta the hotel is holding there seems to be plenty of single men to go around, so all the young ladies are occupied, even Carolina and Avelina (Miss Anorexia). Felipe keeps working on Cam to keep after Carlos. Lucero asks Prof. Diego to dance, one dance. It’s a slow dance and she puts her head on his shoulder and her arms around his neck. He’s not sure what to do, but he smiles and puts his arms higher around her.

Fer is confined to quarters, having mild torture applied by having to listen to Sor Sonrisa sing and accompany herself on the guitar. Sor tells Fer she’s sorry but she can’t see Carlos again on the trip.

COMPLICATIONS
Marissa tells Luis he must attend the fashion show later that day. She has some seats reserved for them. The phone rings. Nana Blanca is calling Luis to let him know Old Fer is on his way to Luis’s house and to wait for him.

Old Fer is seen wandering around by himself in a large open field, obviously disoriented. He accidentally drops his wallet, thinking he slipped it into his jacket outside pocket.
Mariana shows up at Amelia’s place. Amelia doesn’t want to talk to her inside. She’ll meet her at the café on the corner.

Isy is a mess getting ready for the show. She’s barking orders to everyone, everywhere. Marissa arrives in that purple top I thought was a warm fuzzy bed jacket. Isy wants to know if Carlos has told Fernanda yet she’s pregnant. Marissa says she doesn’t know, she hasn’t talked to him.

THE LEAST FUN OF ALL
Fer is sunbathing on the whale watching catamaran. Felipe is walking along the boat slip dock calling her name. He (with great glee) says Carlos is in a heap of trouble over his girlfriend. Fer stands up and says Felipe knows very well *she* is Carlos’ girlfriend. Felipe begs to differ. Fernanda is the only one who doesn’t know what is going on. He knows this girlfriend, the one Carlos is planning to marry. Her name is Isabela de Leon. Fer replies it can’t be, that’s the lawyer helping Luis. Felipe is relishing his role as an Ay Caray spoiler. No, she’s a model and former Miss Universe. Fer is crushed, destroyed. What about his declared love for her? Felipe has no answer, but tells her this has to stay between the two of them. She’s to tell no one. Fer says she can’t hold it in. Carlos is a lying liar. She runs away from him back toward the boardwalk.

Hey, Anita, good morning to you, and thanks for another one of your great recaps!

Boy, Pedro just couldn't get a break last night. Pummeled from all sides with incomplete information an outright lies, I thought he might turn homicidal.

Amelia's in-your-face attitude re:Luis was both troubling and illustrated how delusional she still is. For her to tell her faithful Pedro that of course she was going to tell Luis all about Fer was a really low blow for him, and is going to wind up hurting Fer in a really fundamental way.

This tn feels like one long bad joke about lawyers. Luis and Felipe, had they not gone head to head in court, would have made a wonderful team with their low morals, wiling to stoop to any level to win. Also, with Felipe included in his firm, Luis would have someone who was actually willing to work, and could possibly have actually been successful.

I see sparks and a trail of cast off clothing in Diego and Lucero's future. Lucero seems to be the confident aggressor in this mix, while Diego is hesitant and uncertain.

With all the half truths and outright lies washing over Fer, her life is never going to be the same. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if she breaks up with Carlos and takes the scholarship at the (I think) far away university just to get out of Dodge. She won't trust Carlos or Amelia, and she will seriously question her relationship with her dad. Without Carlos around her to advise her about Luis, I wonder if she will begin to confide and believe in him? Ugh!

So, this is getting to be a sticky mess, and you're helping us to navigate through it, Anita. Thanks so much!

David

David--I think you are masking as a commenter, but are really launching a career into telenovela script writing. Your take on the Luis y Felipe Consortium is a hoot.

Now that you point it out, the contrast between the Carlos/Fernanda and Diego/Lucero relationship is quite striking. Carlos is the alpha male (such as it is) in their relationship and Lucero is the alpha female (if that's where we're going) in the latter one. If the nuns don't do a better job policing these seven hormonal teenagers, it won't just be Diego and Lucero that leave trails of cast off clothing.

The scholarship for Fernanda is at a local university, music school is still a pipe dream--or a violin dream. She would readily be accepted scholastically, but would they give her a full scholarship or just a partial one. Either way, if things work out the way telenovelas do, there will be a time jump. I just hope it doesn't jump the shark, too.

I hadn't thought of the mine field Fer is about to enter without Carlos to ground her (or to tell her to calm down). With Luis and Pedro fighting over her and disillusioned with her mother--who knows what she will do, but your take on it is logical.

I also wonder if Luis will find it more advantageous to hide her from Old Fer or present her to him. What Mariana will do to keep her hidden. That may be a moot point if Old Fer isn't found for awhile and then really has amnesia or his dementia gets worse.

Hmm, that would be a new twist, wouldn't it? Old Fer is found by someone else and the family has him declared dead. Then the reading of the will....oh, please, don't let me get ahead of myself in speculation. This is such a good Camino to be taking. I should just enjoy it as it goes along.

REMINDER: I will be recapping Secreto tonight, way into the night. It would be great if someone puts up some bullet points for Wednesday's Camino episode.

Thank you Anita.

Only good guy in the show is Pedro and I want him to grab a chainsaw and take it to Amelia's head. He's got a chainsaw don't he?

Come on. Diego is 30 years old and a teacher and he's been warned. Stop it.

Thanks as always Anita, my Spanish sucks and blows...so I would be of no use to try to recap or bullet! Especially when the CC person changes. It's soooo behind that I turn it off. I would think it was a machine, but the type changes and then it gets extremely slow, so I'm guessing it's a person. However, I will sort of commit to attempting to make bullets (it may not be correct based on sometimes what you recap and what I thought I read) if and only if, the CC is the good one and not the one that frustrates me to no end. I hope Aleta is here - PLEASE! Because I do not know anywhere near enough to do this any justice.

On to the show...In perspective, he may be older, but Carlos is the only guy that doesn't look as if he is pushing 40. Most of the guys (including Felipe) that were at the party last night where extremely too old for 18 year olds. I think only one guy looked age appropriate.

Novio's may not have been allowed on that trip, but they should have had that trip before those girls graduated! Thinking of a young Kendra...I'm telling myself, "well, I graduated and I'm not attending your university, so I can do as I please" "I paid for this trip" LOL!

Pedro! Pedro! Pedro! DAMN!!! He has put up with a lot from Amelia, but you talk about taking his daughter from him and introducing her to her sperm donor and the testosterone ratcheted up! My eyes were wide open for that exchange.

I won't promise I can do it (the CC's will be my downfall), but I will promise that I will try. If someone beats me to it - thank you for stopping my feeble attempt at knowing what I'm doing.

Kendra--I've got your back. I like your style, so have at it. See you all tomorrow--late.

Anita, thank you for the extraordinarily detailed recap.

"Felipe is a rat fink that deserves to be dismembered and fed to the baby D.C. Eagles" was my favorite line of many. Felipe = Judas.

Amelia is cold and soul less. Were any of us surprised that she not only put Pedro under the bus but actually drove it herself?? And even speaking to Luis after he unceremoniously and cruelly left her showed she hasn't a shred of pride. Pathetic.

Kendra, Carlos does look age appropriate, you are so right! Look forward to your posting. I have little Spanish comprehension but if I can add anything at all, I will try.

Anita, can't wait to see what happens tonight...

Diana

I have been traveling since Saturday and have missed my Tn's. I won't be able to watch them until Tuesday nxt week, so I really
appreciate these stellar recaps Anita.

Camilla is really embarrassing herself with such desperate behavior; pity shes so clueless.

I knew Felipe was a low down backstabbing dog.

Ugh..Amelia is simply unbearable. I dont have any use for Luis but I wont mind if he squashes that stupid fantasy shes having about the two of them reconnecting. Her horrid treatment of Pedro should come with karma.

Episode #31 (I guess) Wednesday, April 6 - part 1

The time change has my DVR confused, so I don’t know if the actual beginning was recorded – I may need to adjust my DVR. Oh well, on to the story!

Once upon a time fans, we start with the Wicked Witch of the West – Mariana (W3) wearing her usual green with envy color waiting at the café for the Evil Queen (Amelia).
W3 is freaking out about whether or not the deadbeat dad told the Evil Queen about the lie she’s been spreading throughout the land. the Evil Queen sold her baby. Then she realizes that all hell would have broken loose in that tiny castle and the Evil Queen would have slapped the taste out of her mouth if she knew. So it’s ok to keep pretending to be the loving sister that she thinks she is.

The Evil Queen is wondering why that witch is at her door. Is Hades (Old Fer) ill? Naw. Before she has a chance to leave and have a witch’s convention, the noble stead Pedro believing his Evil Queen is off to meet her baby daddy tells her to stop lying and using Lupe as an excuse for all the creeping she’s doing and have some dignity. Umm, 19 years too late Pedro.

Over in Cabo, poor Snow White is packing because she just found out her Prince isn’t so Charming after all. She is devastated. Thanks Felipe! Sister Sonrisa finds her crying and wants to know what’s wrong. Fer says she is out of here on the first thing smoking. Sister you need to get me out of here. This trip is over!

Pedro is still yelling at Amelia because she is stupid and he is sick of her and her baby daddy trying to take his daughter. He married her to keep her and her daughter from being shamed. He has a birth certificate that proves that Fer is his daughter. Amelia says that deadbeat can fight that. He just has to call Maury. “YOU ARE THE FATHER!”
Luis is wondering where Hades is because it’s been hours. He asked Rosario, she hasn’t seen him. He calls Blanca, now she’s freaking out. Blanca calls W3. W3 yells at her, but then thinks – “if he’s been in an accident” perfect!

Episode #31 part 2

Back in Cabo, the great escape! Fer has Sis Sonrisa on the run. Felipe is thinking about how he screwed over his friend. Here comes Charming with a pesky fly buzzing around him. Camila wants to know why Felipe isn’t with Fer. Off to find her. He stops Carlos from looking as he has to tell him something serious.

On some road, we find Hades walking aimlessly around. He manages to answer the cell phone that is ringing, but he doesn’t know who that Witch is on the line so he tosses the phone. I would too!

Sister Sonrisa is faster than I thought! She catches up with Fer. Sister and Camila want to know where Fer’s going. Fer says she’s done with this trip and she takes off. Felipe tells Carlos what he told Fer. Why he didn’t punch him? That’s my question.
Felipe and Carlos argue. Felipe manages to be mad at Carlos (how?) but he took it like a punk. So I’m over it. FF>>

W3 is pretending to be worried about Hades. Her leech tells her to stop faking concern. Deadbeat dad, Wicked Witch, and the Leech are all wondering where or where could that devil be?

Carlos has lost some Charm. He is scared to death and desperately looking for Fer to explain. After Sister Sonrisa gives him a good tongue lashing, she tells him that Fer is long gone.

Fer is in a cab, because we run away from our problems, when she sees a familiar old man on the side of the road. She stops the cab, pays, and goes to help him. He recognizes her as his daughter. A cop arrives to offer assistance, but old Hades doesn’t want her to go away again. (Hmm…I’m wondering if he’s going to say his daughter’s name?)
Lights, camera, show time at the fashion show. Whatever! Unless something good happens, I’m skipping over this.

The officer takes the old man away. He doesn’t want to go without his daughter. She doesn’t acknowledge knowing him (damn, you could have just said he’s Fernando and he lives near here), but she’s worried about saying he’s a patient of Carlos. Duh, he’s going to come back anyway and why would he know you were the one who gave the information. Ok…moving on.

Episode #31 part 3

Carlos finds that getting back home is not going to be easy. He calls and tells Pedro that someone is spreading rumors and that’s why she is on her way home. But I’m coming baby!
Snow White has flashbacks of her happier fairytale days while sitting on the side of the road. Pedro is telling his sister, The Sister, that his daughter is a pathological liar and something bad is going to happen if she doesn’t stop. Evil Queen hears this…you people need to get better at shutting doors if you don’t want folks to hear your conversation. Sheesh. Amelia figures she rushed back to see Carlos, but Carlos went on the trip with her. Yikes. Yeah, you messed up.

Fer calls the station to check on the old man. She makes it home and she might as well have been at the police station, because she was under interrogation. The Evil Queen pretty much called her a slut for doing her dirty deeds with that boy. (pot calling the kettle black) Fer is too distraught to put up with being called a tramp so she goes to her room. Pedro comes to console her and she stills him all about, Carlos, Felipe, and the beauty queen.
Gloom and doom are the words as Hernan calls the morgue looking for Hades. He’s not there. The police call them to report that a girl found Hades on the side of the road and asked the police to help him. Deadbeat dad finds out that Hades is okay but remembers nothing about his ordeal. Wicked Witch (in green of course) tries to pry about whether or not he’s had a chance to speak with her sister and he blows her off because he’s going to work with his wife today. It’s take your jerk to work day and Marissa’s excited.
Carlos took the long way home. He wants to know if Fer has called, nope! Then a hairball blows in and ruins his already horrible morning. She’s all, did you enjoy your vacation and does, ‘does your girlfriend know about our pretend baby?’

Cat’s out the bag. Pedro scolds his estranged wife about how she treated his daughter and didn’t notice she had tears in her eyes. (what is new?) Of course, that’s not important. She just can’t wait to be divorced so she doesn’t have to listen to the sound of his voice anymore. Fer overhears her mother and has that I’m going to be an orphan look on her face. This girl just can’t catch a break.

Ok... Everyone. I hope that I got everything. So much was happening on this episode that I didn't want to leave anything out. I was typing so much and then I looked up and realized that I was only 4 minutes into the show. What? Only 4 minutes?

Anita! Imagine me bowing down...We're not worthy!

How you've been able to hold this down all by yourself, I don't know. Respect on a whole new level!

Kendra, the sound you aren't hearing is me applauding loudly. Fantastic!

"Wicked Witch of the West – Mariana (W3) wearing her usual green with envy color waiting at the café for the Evil Queen (Amelia)" and "poor Snow White is packing because she just found out her Prince isn’t so Charming after all" were excellent.

So Carlos does have a few chinks in his armor. He should have gently told Fer about the "pretend" (good one) baby, rather than have the hideous Felipe spill the proverbial beans. I mean did he really think the "hairball" was going to leave any stone unturned in order to ruin his day and his life?

Ice Queen Amelia continues to decimate the two (and only two) people in the world who love her. "Fer overhears her mother and has that I’m going to be an orphan look on her face. This girl just can’t catch a break" is so true.

I even felt badly for old Fer last night. He is paying the price for his sins, aided and abetted by the ghastly Mariana.

Thank you Kendra!

Diana

Hi, Kendra! Well, although you claim that your Spanish "sucks and blows," you did a really fine job of recounting this for us. Great maiden voyage!

Diana, I think Carlos was attempting to tell Fer about the pretend baby when the nun interrupted them at their secluded spot on the beach. Unfortunately, truth was interrupted all over the place in this episode, leaving misinterpretations and rancor.

I really wish that Carlos would have broken Felipe's jaw over what he did. At any rate, I really hope that Carlos will have absolutely nothing to do with him from now on. Of course, if Carlos spreads it all over town that Felipe is a lying SOB who is capable of unspeakable treachery, it will only enhance his reputation as a lawyer.

Although it seemed to turn out okay, I really wish Fer had told the cops who Fernando was. I don't see how that could have hurt her desire to distance herself from Carlos, and it would have insured that Fernando was taken care of quicker.

Amelia just won't cut Fer a break, always superimposing the template of her life on that of her daughter. I wonder if Amelia will become dead to Fer? If not, something dramatic is going to need to happen to reestablish some sort of feelings and trust.

With the divorce now outed to Fer, I don't see that she has any motive for staying in the area. I think she will go off somewhere to do something, and as Anita said, we will have a time jump.

Well, thanks again, Kendra. I enjoyed this very much.

David

Kendra what an entertaining recap. Bunches in there made me smile. Great job.

It bothered me Fernanda didn't tell the popo who Fernando was.

Felipe is long overdue for a beat down.

I wished Pedro would just give up trying to guilt Amelia into giving a crap about anything.

Carlos should already have told Fernanda he had a casual sexual relationship with Miss Universe and he was having difficulty untangling himself since his mother want him to marry her and Miss Universe was crazy.

"Of course, if Carlos spreads it all over town that Felipe is a lying SOB who is capable of unspeakable treachery, it will only enhance his reputation as a lawyer" made me laugh out loud. Thank you David!

I'm conflicted about Amelia. As terrible as she is, she is Fer's mother. Istrongly believe that cutting communication with her all together is the last resort. Are they at that point yet? My hub always says neglect is the cruelest form of abuse. Amelia doesn't hate Fer. She just doesn't care and is unable and/or incapable of showing the smallest bit of affection.

How very sad.

Diana

Thank you, Kendra! I'd say your Spanish is pretty darn good!

My favorite part of the episode was the chase scene, with Sister Sonrisa pursuing Fernanda through the hotel and out on the walkways. They had dramatic music in the background, but I think some Keystone Cops music like this would have been more appropriate:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrbY1N0PcgY

Another scene that I thought interesting was when Blanca called Mariana to let her know that Don F was missing. Mariana was mad at Blanca at first, but then reconsidered and thought-bubbled that if something happened to Don F before he found Amelia and Fernanda, it wouldn't be so bad.

Felipe also seemed to be two-faced. In the scene in the marina, he seemed to be reconsidering his actions because Carlos had been his friend since high school and he valued his friendship. But Felipe's good thoughts didn't last long.

The long-awaited runway show was kind of a yawn. Andrea rebuffed Luis for Leopoldo, and it was fun to see Luis's face, but I was hoping for more something more exciting to happen (fisticuffs, maybe).

I'm loving this telenovela, and I'm not the only one. These are the Univision ratings for April 5:

Pasión y Poder 2,376,000
Un Camino Hacia El Destino 2,107,000
El Hotel De Los Secretos 1,830,000
Sueño De Amor 1,544,000

And I think it's rated number 1 in Mexico.

Thanks again for carrying the baton!

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Aleta, I enjoy this TN too! It's no wonder it's rated this way, because it's really good.

I tried Hotel...I really did, but I kept falling asleep on it. It bored me so bad. When I thought it was picking up, I got bored again. I never tried the other show, because that was too many TN's and I have enough shows that I have to binge watch.

Brava Kendra..what a great job! I could see it all in my head as I read.

Wow those ratings, my two faves at the top. I agree about Hotel..aside from the sets and costuming, nothing grabbed me. I gave up after the first week. Sueno became too silly. I may give it another try later on hulu when there is nothing better to watch.

Thank yoy again for bringing us this recap.

Kendra--I'm done with Hotel duties.
This was just wonderful! As a fan of Once Upon a Time and having read ALL the Oz books, I loved it. You underestimate your talent.

Writing the recaps does take time and not all of us have it to give. Thank you so much for this little gem. I hope you will consider taking up the reins again when I need a break.

Aleta--thank you for the stats on the four prime-time shows on Uni. I sincerely hope Camino stays on track and doesn't stray too far into Latoodle territory.

Delilah63--
OT There is something better to watch. Try Quien es Quien. (You will have to find it elsewhere to start. It started Feb. 8) It's quite good in an over the top way. I didn't think I would like to watch Eugenio Siller playing twins (not after watching Reina) but they've really got a good story so far, a mix of comedy and drama. They have changed places, one rich and one working class (one has amnesia, the other one doesn't), but don't bump into each other, not yet. It's the same producer as Reina.

Another comment on the stats. As a recapper with posting privileges, I access a document where we "do our work." It lists each posting (nightly, weekly or semi-weekly) individually by title. There is a count for the number of comments posted and a count for the number of times the comment section is read by anyone, commenting or not. So for Caray (eyeballing it) here's what I see:

Pasion y Poder, is by far the runaway winner in the commenting and reading category, sometimes reaching 500 over a weekend.
Hotel de los Secretos is keeping up fairly well with the commenting, but doesn't get quite as many readers as PyP, with 300 on a good weekend night.
Sueno, would be next, but barely breaking 100 (or less) each night.
Un Camino, lags behind with a fairly large gap since the post lasts a week with none of the weeks going much over 300 (or an average of 60 per night).

Thanks Anita, I will check out QeQ. It sounds like something I would like.

Delilah63--It takes several episodes to set it all up and introduce you to the characters. Then it picks up and now I can't wait for the next episode. 5Ft Latina and Sara are doing recaps over on the Diva's new website, El Cohete.

Kendra, girl you the cap in recap. There is alot of high shannagans afoot. All these hits and misses and near misses. Somebody is going to have a Collision.
And will somebody invite jaws to lunch and throw filipe overboard, and he can have graby touchy feely camila for desert.
These 2 people are so hard up. Can't they tell that fer & carlos is not into them? And what filipe did was just smackin of desperation.

As mean as ol fer is he don't need to be at the mercy of his mean ol nasty spawn ( mariana). She and amelia are two mean sistas. Just like dear ol dad. Their poor mother.

These folk are on a powder keg about to go blewy. I don't get amelia she still wants this bottom feeder, luis. Why. Ok
She was a teenager he was her first love. SNAP OUT OF IT, HE WAS A JERK THEN, AND NOTHIN HAS CHANGED!!!!!!!!
You think she heard me? No!!!

This show just keeps gettin better an better.

Anita, kendra, you ladys are gems for stickin with this
Thank you the boata yas.

Thanks Anita and Nina.

Anita, I will definitely consider filling in when you need a break. However, (please don't take this as putting you off because I truly appreciate what you do) I fall behind on these shows.

I have been able to stay on top of Camino (better than I was able to with Muchacha and PyP), but once I start going on travel for work - which is coming up the last week of this month, next month, 2 separate weeks in June, and possibly (not confirmed) one in July...I fall behind the entire week and binge watch when I return. So I don't want to promise something and then have to flake, but if I'm home then I'm good.

If I miss Monday's episode because I am in a travel status or have something planned with collegues that night, I don't have DVR to be able to watch later so that entire week is a wash until I return home.

But, now that I've done it...I'm willing to give it a shot if I am available.

I did have fun playing with the characters (but it was how I saw them last night) Mariana in that green dress and then another green dress the next day was perfect!

Not to mention, she is so jealous of Amelia that it just put the icing on her green-eyed monster wicked witch cake.

Anita, Aleta, Kendra, and everybody else, I just wanted to drop you all a quick line to both thank and commend you for everything you are doing to bring this little patio to life.
For, really, this is actually quite a delightful little novela. Like a lot of other people here, I viewed the oncoming of this telenovela with utter dread as I, like so many others, still have not, will not, and CAN not forgive this producer for what she subjected us to both with TSTCNBN and (even more egregiously for me) the second half of CI (I thought it was pretty darn good until they killed of Elizabeth Alvarez's Lucia). I think it speaks to the inner sadist in me that I originally tuned in to witness a train wreck in action.

Imagine how surprised I was, and continue to be!

This is a wonderful little story, production, direction, presentation are all pretty exemplary and the cast has consistently risen to the occasion. If asked for a reason, I would probably say to anyone who asked that the main reason I decided to give it a chance was because of the high calibre of actors that signed up for the project. Are they masochists?? How could they possibly agree to work with La-toodle after what she's done? But she and her writers have provided her actors with a script and direction that honors them, and they have shone...

Horacio Pancheri, in his first true 'galan' role has proven himself truly swoon-worthy.
This is Lisette Morelos's first stab at a true 'character' role (i.e.- outside of her personal 'comfort zone', and thus will require actual acting) and she's done a great job as the bitter, resentful mother of an 18 year old). Also Rene Strickler, being given a major role again, exemplifies that talent really does rise to the top over good looks, youth, marketability (as it should). The same can be said of Ana Patricia Rojo. It's been 8 years since she was a front-line character (Estefania in CCEA). The roles she has been given in that time (Raiza in CI (who did next to nothing), and Efigenia in QTPD) were an insult to her accomplishments and capabilities. La-toodle gave her a chance to be a front-line character again, and she has not disappointed. Her Mariana is as much of a hateful schemer and vile manipulator as the part demands. (An interesting fact as a side-note... Gustavo Rojo, playing Don Fernando, is Ana Patricia's (Mariana) REAL father (he also, amazingly, is going to turn 93 this year!!!!). I watched the scene where she attempts to poison him and wondered to myself "I wonder what Freud would have to say about this scene!). Likewise Eugenia Cauduro, who seems to be the heir inherent of all of the noble, suffering, gentle spirit 'first actress' roles that Luz Maria Jerez has become the queen of. I could go on, but I've done that long enough, so I'll shut up now.

But you all have contributed to a wonderful little online world here. I am watching this Mexico-channel-ways, so I'm afraid I will never be able to contribute much to your little group, lest I reveal any spoilers or anything. But I wanted to thank you all for everything you contribute on here. I hope you all continue to enjoy the ride, and thank you for for giving me a little 'patio' here that I never cease to delight in partaking of. Wish that I could join you all more!

With best wishes,
Stevey from Leticia, Colombia

Thanks Stevey, for checking in with us. We always appreciate your contacts and comments.

About tonight's episode, I didn’t want to make it long, but I didn’t know how to make it short. I prefer a happy Fer, not the unhappy, emotionally destroyed Fer.

EPISODE #32 (Thu Apr 7) Pt. 1
Fer hears the word divorce rom her mother’s own lips. Amelia thinks it’s time to tell her. They didn’t tell her before so it wouldn’t affect her studies. (There’s more said here and Amelia is not being kind and gentle with Fer with the news.) Fer wants to know why, after all these years of marriage they want a divorce. She guesses it’s about Amelia working. Fer thinks they can fix things if they would just talk about it. Amelia cuts off this uncomfortable conversation and leaves for work. She says they’ll talk later. Pedro and Fer can’t believe she would just walk out like that. Pedro agrees there have never been secrets between him and Fer, but there are some things that were just too difficult to share. Fer doesn’t want them to get a divorce. She wants them together. They are a family. She repeats this mantra over the course of their conversations.

He tries to explain that if love isn’t mutual, a matrimony has a hard time surviving. Fer says she knows Pedro loves her mother. That’s when Fer figures out it’s her mother that wants the divorce. She still can’t accept it. Pedro says it’s been obvious Amelia hasn’t been happy with him for a long time, but it’s probably not her fault. He may be at fault for not giving her everything she wanted. Divorce is probably the best solution. He hugs his daughter.

Fernanda is worried about custody issues and visitation rights. Pedro says since the divorce is mutual, there won’t be anything to harm her. Pedro says he doesn’t want to heap more worries on her, what with her “other” problem. She doesn’t want to talk about it. Pedro does. He thinks Carlos owes them an explanation. Fer doesn’t want any explanations from him, she’s not going to let him think it bothers her or let him know she knows about the other novia. She asks Pedro not to say anything to Carlos. She’s going to go see Rosaura to explain why she came home early.

Luis has decided to accompany Marissa to the bank—just to enjoy her company. (We know it’s not for Marissa’s company. He expects to run into Amelia and give her the third degree, nicely of course.) Clarita brings them coffee and lets them know Carlos is back and he and Isabela are in the living room talking. Isy is still pushing the baby bomb on Carlos. It’s not something they can keep hidden. It’s a reality. Marissa walks in and welcomes Carlos home. Things are a little awkward, but then Carlos gets a call from Mariana. Old Fer has taken a turn for the worse with his memory problem. He’s on his way. Marissa will talk to Isy later.

Hernán thinks it’s time to put old Fer in a nursing home. He tells Mariana to think about it. And, by the way, Camila will be coming to live with them and he hopes the two will get along. Mariana is already planning not to. Carlos arrives and Mariana briefs him on Old Fer’s day-long adventure. Carlos finds him lucid and perky, but doesn’t remember anything from the day before. Od Fer knows he’ll probably die soon, but he really wants to find his daughter and granddaughter before it’s too late and he no longer recognizes them. He’s afraid that Mariana will leave them destroyed and abandoned.

Carlos recommends to Mariana they see a neurologist to assess Old Fer. If it’s Alzheimer’s, wonders Mariana, won’t they need to put him in a nursing home? Nana Blanca, who has been present, says she can continue to care for him as she always has. She thinks he’d be better off in familiar surroundings. Carlos assumes they have the resources to hire a full-time nurse. Mariana sees her nest egg cracking.

EPISODE #32 (Thu Apr 7) Pt. 2
Licenciado Ignacio Ordoñez is waiting for Amelia when she gets to work late. She’s late because her daughter learned about the upcoming divorce and she had to explain it all to her. (This is a very pro-Amelia, toned-down version of what actually happened.) Marissa and Luis arrive and Marissa makes the introductions. Luis and Amelia pretend they are meeting for the first time. Amelia later tries to brush off Luis but ends up agreeing to meet him for lunch.

Hernán has gone to fetch Camila from school. He congratulates her on her success with Carlos. It won’t be long till she’s the blushing bride, married to a fortune. They see Rosaura, the Head Nun on the way out. [Now I understand—the university Camila will be attending is right there at the Colegio, the same university Fer got her scholarship for. So, no one is going anywhere. Prof. Diego, Lucero, Camila, Fer and maybe Carolina will be there in the Fall.] Fer arrives and she and Camila agree to stay in touch and will meet up the next day.

Fer pours her heart out to Rosaura about the Carlos turn-about and her parents’ divorce. In a surprising admission, Rosaura says that as a nun, she’s against divorce, but in Pedro and Amelia’s case she agrees with the decision. Amelia stopped loving Pedro a long time ago, if she ever did.

Pedro is left alone thinking about how Amelia left him to deal with Fer and the fallout from the divorce news. Carlos shows up asking for Fernanda. Pedro wants to know if it’s true that Carlos has another novia. Carlos says no, the only novia he has is Fernanda. He wants to explain. Pedro doesn’t want any explanations. He believed in Carlos, but he hurt Fernanda. He throws him off the property and tells him never to come near Fer again.

Lunch with Luis turns out a lot differently than we thought. He tries to sweet talk her. She wants to know why now he’s interested in her. Luis is practically salivating as he tells her Old Fer repents his former actions and wants to reconcile. He’s Old Fer’s attorney and was asked to rewrite his will. He wants to make “their” daughter his sole heir. (Well, you could have knocked Amelia over with a bald eagle feather.) Of course, she heard a different story, just the opposite, as a matter of fact, from Mariana.

Luis says it’s not true. Old Fer even asked Luis to hire a P.I. to look for her. Now she believes it. Luis does have one last thing to ask. Who did she sell their child to? Amelia just looks at him as he tells the story Virginia Torres told him. Amelia says she doesn’t know any Virginia Torres. She tells him her daughter lives with her and her husband, always has. Luis grins. He wants to meet her. Amelia says they can’t just show up and introduce him to her as her father. She was raised believing Pedro to be her father. They made a pact that her daughter would never know the truth. What’s the problem, she’s getting a divorce. Yes, she’s sick and tired of being a poor gardener’s wife when she should have been by Luis’ side.

She tells him she’s been waiting 19 years to tell him he was a cowardly jerk not to stand by her when she needed him. She loved him. Luis says he’s a sorry jerk. It’s not enough to ask her forgiveness, he knows, and he can’t justify his actions. He was young, he committed an error….she interrupts, she was young, too. He makes a play for her now, but she bores into him and asks if his solution to make up for his error is to leave his wife and the two of them to make a life together? She knows him well. He wouldn’t. He wouldn’t be able to fool her, as he does his wife, returning home from being with one of his lovers. She announces it’s time for lunch to be over. She’ll think about letting him meet his daughter.

Luis immediately goes to pay a visit to Virginia Torres. He threatens her with jail if she doesn’t tell the truth. She finally confesses it was Mariana that cooked up the story. Cara de impactada de Luis.

EPISODE #32 (Thu Apr 7) Pt. 3
When Fernanda gets back she asks her father what Carlos said when he came by. Pedro says he wouldn’t let him say anything. After what he did to Fer, he sent Carlos away and to never come around again. (Judging from the look on her face, Fer didn’t exactly mean what she said earlier.)

Mariana takes Old Fer to Carlos’ hospital. He sends Mariana away. Old Fer can tell something is bothering him. Carlos tells him he didn’t tell his novia the whole truth about something. He was a coward. They broke up and he will probably never see her again. Old Fer says she should talk to her, not just her father. If this girl is the love of his life, the cowardly thing to do is not to go to her and clear things up.

Amelia is back at work and telling Lupe all about her lunch. She’s on the horns of a dilemma. If she goes to her father to claim the inheritance for Fer, as Lupe is urging her to do, Fer will know everything. Keeping Fer away means she would give up the inheritance. Ignacio comes in and dismisses Lupe. He asks Amelia why she pretended not to know Luis Montero when they were introduced. She stares at him.

Camila has arrived back in the house. She talks to Old Fer about her boyfriend. He and I both >>FF at the same time. Luis arrives and asks to speak to Mariana alone. In an angry raised voice, he wants to know why Mariana made up that story making him believe Amelia had sold her daughter. (I’m sure he will soon learn the facts.)

Carlos has come back to Fer’s house. He sits down on the bench to wait, head in his hands. Fernanda sees him and asks what he’s doing there. He stands and walks toward her. He knows she doesn’t want to see him, but he’s there to ask her to forgive him, please forgive him, please.

Hi, Anita. Another great installment from your inventive mind.

There is a saying that goes something like this: "Science is truth; don't be distracted by facts." This is funny because it pokes fun at some lazy individuals who would rather read something out of a book than chase down real causal reasons for something happening.

And this is where we find ourselves in this tn. Fernanda is operating on information from that most untrustworthy of all individuals, Felipe, without checking out the truthfulness of his claims. This stunned me. She knows what a conniving liar he is, yet she takes his statement as fact, and won't even let Carlos explain what is going on. Way to go, Fernanda!

Luis, for all his warts and blemishes seems to be seeking facts, and believes Amelia when she tells him she did not sell their baby, so much so that he tracks down Virginia Torres and brow beats the truth out of her. Wow! AND, he also confronts Mariana for the lying conniving bitch that she is. Who needs a PI with Luis on the case? I don't know where they will take this, but his slavish dedication to finding facts lifted him from the fires of hades for me somewhat.

Pedro, operating on information he received from Fernanda also won't let Carlos explain himself. This doesn't strike me as too bad, since he is operating on information he received from his beloved "daughter" for whom he is always ready to protect from any harm, even from her own mother.

As much as I don't care for Amelia, I was proud of her for stating the obvious to Luis. Now nearing 40, she is no longer a teenager who can be manipulated by an older man. Okay, we all know that Luis will meet Fernanda at some point, but I liked Amelia telling him she would think about letting them meet.

Thanks again, Anita. You always come through.

David

Anita, you made an excellent episode even better with your thoughtful and insightful recap. Your astute observations were (as always) on target and greatly appreciated.

Last night's episode held some surprising revelations. I was completely gobsmacked by Luis, thinking he was happy simply because he had "found" Amelia and therefore, Fernanda. I didn't realize Fer was to be the sole heir! So of course while his actions were totally self serving, I was still impressed he was able to ferret out the truth and the fact he was able to accomplish this so quickly. As you noted David "I don't know where they will take this, but his slavish dedication to finding facts lifted him from the fires of hades for me somewhat".

And now to the delusional:"Pedro says it’s been obvious Amelia hasn’t been happy with him for a long time, but it’s probably not her fault". Umm, really Pedro? You have lavished your love and affection on Amelia these past 20 years and never received a kind word or loving gesture yet it's not her fault??

Amelia seems genuine in her desire to reconcile with her father. I don't sense that money is a factor at all. Am I wrong? How can she still harbor feelings for one that treated her so dismissively yet she never give her own daughter the love she seems to so desperately want from her father.

I don't blame Pedro either for trying to "protect" Fer from Carlos. She is being assaulted from all sides so his protective father mode is the correct course...for now.

Anita, you've brightened my day once again! Gracias!

Diana

Thank you Anita and another to Kendra for yesterday.

Stevey, I parrot your comment as I keep one eye on this show however I don't give Latoodle the credit but the actors themselves. I'm glad the two leads aren't big names yet and haven't taken themselves so seriously they believe they can just show up and it's enough. (looking at you Daniel Arenes in particular)

No problem with Pedro blasting away on Carlos cause he should shoot first and ask questions later. Wished he'd not been so easily sold by Carlos and done some investigating himself, otherwise he's done a fine job raising Fernanda with no thanks to mom.

But, Pedro has been a doormat for Amelia and she'll be the one to destroy the poor man. I hope the father/daughter bond never falters and I'll be really sad if it does, for any reason.

Carlos at least knows he's stepped in it, Felipe's disclosure or no, but I wished the first thing out of his mouth was not forgive me but I'm sorry.

Diana, first things first--
Luis, Mariana, Nana Blanca and the Caminantes on Caray have known since way back in episode #10 of Old Fer's intentions. This little paragraph might help:

"Old Fer gets to Luis’ office and is shown in. He wants Luis to help him find his other daughter, Amelia and his grandchild. He wants this kept in strictest confidence....He wants to leave his fortune to her. She will be a millionaire. (Poor Old Fer, he doesn’t realize he’s talking to the baby-daddy and he will try to get his hands on that fortune, one way or another, or my name isn’t La Virgen de la Paz.)"

So, you see, it's more than paternal pride to know he has a biological daughter and looks forward to meeting her. I think everything he's done to find Fernanda is based on money--her future money. I think he'd like to have the lifestyle he's been enjoying at Marissa's side, but he'd like to be free of her. The only way he can do it is to find another cash cow.

To give him a very small benefit of doubt, we learned early on that he was disappointed Marissa couldn't have any more children. When he hears about Amelia and a grandchild from Old Fer, he seems to be pleased as he reflects that he might actually have a child with his blood.

Mariana is resentful of losing the inheritance she thought she would have so she's been doing everything on her end to prevent Old Fer from reconciling with Amelia and meeting Fernanda.

Old Fer's rationale for changing his will is that Mariana is married to a rich husband and doesn't need any more money; Amelia is out because he doesn't want that desgraciado Pedro to get his hands on the inheritance through Amelia, thus he will leave it all to Fernanda.

Still tangled up in all this is that Fernanda is the young lady Luis bumped into and Felipe managed to get a nice judgment out of it. So Luis still will not have a straight Camino to Fer's bank account, if indeed Amelia does swallow her pride and acknowledges to Fer who her sperm donor was and goes for the inheritance. Fer may have some problems accepting him, too.

Ooooh, this just gets more delicious as it progresses. I fervently hope the producer keeps this a tight little story without introducing the whole Televisa actors' roster to us in bit parts.

David--
I liked, "Who needs a PI with Luis on the case?" As dislikable character as he is to us, he does seem to be the only one willing to search out the facts when contradictions are presented to him. I can't wait to see what Mariana has to say for herself tonight.

Well, I will put in a word for Carlos who is trying to verify Isy's pregnancy--against all odds.

Fer is still too young to be so analytical, maybe. She jumps to conclusions based on emotions. For awhile, Carlos was able to dispel all her feelings that he didn't love her when she heard Camila's insistence Carlos was interested in her or when he didn't show up for her graduation.

This sounds odd coming from me, someone who objects to young people's constant need to be connected to everyone, but Fer is at a real disadvantage not having her own cell phone. The only way she could talk to Carlos is in person, through messages posted on her door, second-hand from Felipe, a borrowed cell and the land line in her house--located quite openly. Maybe, maybe not this would have saved them from some misunderstandings and saved her several broken hearts.

tofie et al.--
Not letting the misunderstood person speak to clear up a misunderstanding, is an overused trope (I wanted to say tripe) we always complain about. The writers haven't figured out any other way to keep up the tension between the characters. It has to be maintained for many episodes and the leads, be they young or older, have to be separated and angry or sad for a time in order for their reconciliation to pack more punch. I'd rather have this than a six-year coma or amnesia, though.

I just keep repeating that mantra--it's only a tn, it's only a tn. Then I adjust my beanie.

Diana--
I feel I need to clarify what I wrote (it was late):

"Pedro says it’s been obvious Amelia hasn’t been happy with him for a long time, but it’s probably not her fault."

The scene was not reported as accurately as it should have. Pedro was trying to justify Amelia's actions to Fernanda, to reduce the blame for Fer's sake. He was saying: "...it should have been obvious to Fernanda that Amelia hadn't been happy with him for a long time." Then he again tries to minimize Amelia's role in the divorce by assuming some of the blame. After the recent arguments they've had over his lack of ambition and their state of poverty, he feels somewhat guilty that he contributed to her unhappiness by not providing her with more material things she had been accustomed to.

I think Amelia was telling the truth when she told Luis she was sick and tired of being poor. I think her reconciliation with her father has something to do with her missing her former life as a carefree young girl of privilege and no responsibilities. She will be in for a shock when she learns what a vicious, greedy, Green, Wicked Witch of a sister she has and has had all along.

Anita...thanks for being so spot on. I think we are kindred spirits because I echo your thoughts in your comment (somewhere around 11 something)

David...I also got frustrated by the fact that Fer took Felipe's word and didn't even yell at Carlos about it. She knows he's a liar and that he's obsessed with her. It would be different if she didn't have that information.

Tofie's comment- I hope the father/daughter bond never falters and I'll be really sad if it does, for any reason. WOW! I hadn't thought of that.

When I read that, I started to think of all the things that could go wrong in that relationship. One being that he wanted to keep the truth of her parentage from her. I can see her being upset by it. It probably won't last long, but it could be an issue.

Luis as I agree with all of you, has sought out the truth and he truly surprised me last night. I kind of thinks that he is genuine in some ways because this is his only child. He didn't have to tell Amelia the entire story about the inheritance, just the reconciliation. He seemed pleased to find Amelia and to know that his daughter is just a phone call away.

What will his reaction be when he realizes that his heiress daughter is the scammer he hates, that he is jointly helping destroy with a lie that he invented to break her up from the step-son that despises him?

Oh I can't wait to see him have a heart attack with this knowledge.

Kendra--
I completely forgot about Luis' hand in the pregnancy scam (short term memory problems are getting longer).

I don't think Luis will personally be bothered to learn he had a role in intentionally trying to break up his stepson's relationship with his daughter.

I don't think he really likes Carlos that much, although he keeps telling Marissa the problem is all on Carlos' side.

It will be Fernanda's opinion that he had a hand in falsifying documents to prove an invented pregnancy that will bother him more. Of course, we don't know when, if ever this comes to light. If Isy plans a spontaneous abortion, then Carlos and Fernanda will never know it was a fake baby. Whatever she decides, it will have to be in the next 2-3 months. Plenty of time for Carlos and Fer to make up or not. Somehow, I don't think last night's plea will be enough to get them back together. (Sigh, sob)

I'm with Tofie, the Sorry should have come first. Sorry he hid some truths from her.

If I put myself in Fernanda's spot there is a lot going on for a sweet naive girl whose mother rejects her. Graduation, first real love (not a crush), parents divorce, accident and threats, court time, best friend pursuing her man, mean girl hi-jinks. She's bombarded by big and little lies and omissions how in the world would anyone be able to sift through the crap so I don't see her jumping to a conclusion about Carlos but she kinda slid there, one bump and disappointment after another. She knows her daddy is a rock but she blindly trusted Carlos and it never occurred to her there was an ex somewhere much less a crazy one. Carlos didn't set out to hurt Fernanda but his cowardice has. Yeah I know, he could plead a technicality but Fernanda deserves better than that.

My fear is if/when Amelia throws the agreement between she and Pedro out and/or Luis decides he can claim Fernanda as his own for a payday without ending his marriage, someone will go after Pedro. Who then will have Fernanda's best interest at the fore?

Tofie--I hope that "who" doesn't turn out to be Felipe. He's just been waiting for an opening and when it didn't happen, he did it himself by telling Fer about the "real" novia.

Tofie - yes! mean girls, break-ups, and divorces. It's enough to drive a very naïve girl over the edge.

Luis may not care about trying to break up Fer and Carlos, but I agree that he may care if she found out about the lie that he created.

Isy talks about this pregnancy as if it's real. Even in her thought bubbles. She really is bat-sh** crazy! She plays it very well. You had him, he doesn't want you anymore. A pregnancy is going to make him love you? Girl, take two 'stop being stupid pills' and call someone in the morning.

Anita this was fantastic. The snakes are lining up. Luis luis luis you dirty dog. I can think of other names but theres not enough space or time. The only reason he is now interested in baby girl is because of all those photos of those dead presidents. Well at least is this country it'd be dead presidents. For those of you that don't know, the "dead president"
Thing, its slang for a lot of money. I saw it in a movie, or something on tv. George, Abe, Grant, Franklin..dead president, except Franklin.

Horrible hernin is a big O moocher, and hes pimpin his annoying daughter off on poor befuttled carlos.

Im going to really hate the Fake pregnancy storyline. And It will be drugged on through the next 30 or 40 episodes ..........ugh. hey this is cause for a time lapes. She has to get knocked up by someone. See its annoying already.

Thanks again Aniita. :-D

Hey folks, it's late and I want to watch Hotel before I go to bed.
The recap will be up tomorrow morning.

Thank you Anita - am really looking forward to it.

Diana

EPISODE #33 (Fri Apr 8) Pt. 1
Carlos asking Fernanda to be forgiven for (what?) doesn’t work in his favor. Fer throws the name of Isabel at him like mud balls at a clown face. It hurts. Fernanda points out that Carlos had several occasions when he could have clued her in on who Isabel was each time Fer ran into her or heard about her. It had to be Felipe, didn’t it. She calls Carlos a cynical, barefaced liar. He uses the standard, predictable lover’s excuse—he didn’t want to lose her. He was ready to tell her while they were in Cabo, but he was never alone with her long enough. Yes, he admits, there is an Isabel. They were novios (emphasis on the past), but he had (or thought he had) ended it when he fell in love with Fer and started seeing her.

This has no effect on Fernanda. She’s so pithed and hurt he would deceive her in such a low down dirty manner. Carlos admits he lied to Fer about Isy. (Lies of omission, I would say, but that doesn’t change the deception.) He had been seeing Isy for several months before he met Fer. He broke up with her. He told her about Fernanda. That’s why Isabela went looking for her at school. Fer is really steamed up now. He could tell Isy about Fer, but not Fer about Isy. Earnestly, he tries to explain that he knew if he said anything about her to Fer, Fer would end their relationship. He was a coward, he knows, but he was going to tell her while they were in Cabo.

She runs away from him and latches onto Cesarín who happened to be passing by. Carlos follows, trying to get Fer to listen to more of his sorry defense. The two walk off and he’s left standing there. He’s not so fine anymore.

Andrea greets Isabela at the office with the news of the great coverage they got in the press for the fashion show. Isy scatters the papers off the desk and says she has to find Felipe, pronto and she wants to be left alone. Isy calls Felipe and demands his presence, please.

Felipe presents himself. Isy has most of the marbles already in her pocket. He’s only there to verify what she already knows—that Carlos went on the school trip, so did Felipe and Felipe told that girl about Carlos and herself being novios (and she assumes she was pregnant).

Cesarín takes Fernanda to his place. He’s surprised to hear Carlos was cheating on her, made a fool of her. Fer tells him Carlos already had a novia, one Isabela de Leon. Ah, Cesarín recognizes the name. He doesn’t think Carlos would do that. He’s sure Carlos is crazy about her. Fer says that’s what Carlos says, but how can she believe him.

Cesarín is taking Carlos’ side in the discussion with Fernanda. He doesn’t think Carlos is that bad a guy. He did come looking for her and ask her pardon. Fer considers. Well, that’s true or it could all be a lie. She needs to prove it, one way or another. She gets Isabela’s phone number with Cesarín’s help.

Carlos returns home. Rejection and dejection is written all over his face. Clarita greets him with her sunny disposition and can tell something is wrong. It must have something to do with the mess he’s in with Fernanda and Isabela, right? (It’s not like maids are deaf, mute and blind.) Carlos tells her he ruined it with Fer and now she wants nothing more to do with him. Before he has to go into details, Nana Rosario enters. She’s in pain. She is having a health crisis. He pressure is up. Carlos puts her to bed and insists on taking her in to the hospital for a check-up in the morning. Carlos also tells her she’s not to work anymore. She objects. He wants her around for a long, long time.

EPISODE #33 (Fri Apr 8) Pt. 2
Luis is up in Mariana’s face, demanding she explain the Virginia Torres story. Mariana starts to deny it, but sees his flaring nostrils up close and knows it’s useless to insist on her innocence. She dissolves into tears. Through her tears, Mariana says she didn’t want Luis to find Amelia because she was afraid Luis wanted to hook up again (what a crock). She was full of jealousy since she’s loved Luis since time began. Luis knows she’s full of something else. He accuses Mariana of knowing very well that Old Fer wanted to leave his fortune to Amelia’s daughter and that is what was motivating her. No, no, she denies it. Luis will never forgive her and the only reason he doesn’t tell Old Fer right now is because he’s sick. The second Luis storms out, the tears dry up and she curses Amelia’s existence.

Amelia confesses to Ignacio at the office, that she and Luis Montero had a relationship many years ago. Pedro walks in at just the right (or wrong) moment for the conversation not to continue.

Marissa stops by to see how Isy is doing. Isy turns on the waterworks. She says derisively, that “hija del jardinero” doesn’t know yet she’s expecting Carlos’ child. Isy’s waterworks are operating in full force. Marissa is drinking from the fount of faux-juice. Isy complains that Carlos fell in love with her and now he scorns her. It’s even worse now because she’s pregnant.

Pedro and Amelia have returned to their cottage. He can’t believe she walked away from Fer during such a crucial conversation. Amelia says she’ll talk to Fer later. Instead, she wants to talk to Pedro about seeing Luis Montero. Pedro is stunned to hear Luis is Old Fer’s attorney and that Old Fer is sorry for what he did to her and wants a reconciliation. Amelia is thinking of taking Fer and going to live with Old Fer in the big house.

Pedro wants to know what she is going to tell Fernanda. She’ll think of something, she says. All she wants is to go home. (Ouch. That smarts.) Oh, and another thing, Luis does want to meet his daughter.

Pedro flies off the handle again. He forbids it. They had a pact. (Pedro, you need to calm down and back off. The pact is null and void at this point. Luis is back. That’s a game changer. The pact held as long as he wasn’t around. Think about it, ok?) He goes over all the things he did for Amelia for 19 years, because he loved her. It wasn’t Luis who helped her in her hour of need. He finds it dishonest to talk about Fernanda as Luis’s daughter when it was Pedro who was there for her. Fer carries his name and if Amelia forgets that, he’ll be there to remind her.

Luis has arrived to nibble some of Andrea’s goodies. They both have some spare time since Mariana is trying to raise Isy’s spirits. Luis is stretched out on Andrea’s couch, his head in her lap. They are both fully clothed and unrumpled. It’s not clear if there was any nookie beforehand. Luis wants to know how long she’s going to string Leo along. Andrea wants to know how long he’s going to be playing around with her.

Luis jumps up. She has no right to reproach him like that. Oh, she sees how it is; it’s alright for him to question her about her associations, but the reverse is not. Luis says it’s different with them. He says, she knows he can never divorce Marissa. (It’s a money thing, but he doesn’t say that.) He’s very insulted. Andrea calls him a selfish slob and she’s tired of being a second-stringer, spending her youth as his lover. (I think she hears her bio-baby clock ticking.) Luis tries to soften things, but he ends up putting his shoe in his maw. He tells her he had a bad day. When he’s with her, he just wants to forget his problems. He tells her he loves her. Andrea retorts she’s not a pharmacy where he can get something to cure his ills (or his itches). She’s tired of being used and if this is what he considers love, he can just forget about it. He picks up his jacket and storms out. She sits there not sure she did the right thing, but we think Leo is not out of reach.

EPISODE #33 (Fri Apr 8) Pt. 3
Avelina (or Adelina) and Lucero are waiting for their respective parents to arrive to take them away for summer vacations. She tells Lucero they are really akin to abandoned children living on the streets. The only difference is their parents have money and can send them to a place like this, where they aren’t a bother to them. The result is the same, unloved and neglected. Avelina’s parents arrive, but Lucero’s don’t. Sor Sonrisa tells her that it has something to do with a business trip. Diego runs into a downcast Lucero, resting against a school wall. He puts his hand on her arm. She moves in for the hug. He sort of hugs her back.

Marissa gets home and tells Carlos about Isy’s depression. She thinks her state of mind may affect the baby. Carlos promises to stop by and see her (medically speaking, of course) and take her to have a check-up. He says he will still take responsibility for the child. It was never his intention not to, but he still wants assurance that she’s pregnant and the baby is his. Carlos tells his mother about Fernanda breaking up with him and why. He assumes she and Isy must be pleased Fernanda wants nothing more to do with him. Marissa gets to say she told him so, when he first started seeing Fer.

Isabela is now dry-eyed. She’s quizzing her sister Carolina about what Carlos was up to on the trip to Cabo. Carolina says she didn’t see Carlos there. (Is it possible she doesn’t know what Carlos looks like?) Isy explains Carlos wasn’t there with Camila, he was there with Fernanda. (Wait a minute. We all saw how Camila was stuck to Carlos most of the beach time.) Oh, now she remembers. Isy wants to know what they were doing. Carolina is about to tell her when Isy gets a phone call. It’s none other than the “hija del jardinero,” Fernanda Perez, and she wants to talk to Isy. Isy tells her to come around the next morning—to her house.

Amelia has the big “D” talk with Fernanda. It goes surprisingly well. Fer says her head understands, but not her heart. She wants to know if there is another man. Amelia says no, definitely. She merely realized after a long time she and Pedro had nothing in common and she’d rather be alone than in bad company. Fer tells her about Carlos taking advantage of her—no, not that way, he is a two-timing rat-fink. She fell in love with him and he played her like a fool. Amelia enjoys telling Fernanda she told her so from the very beginning.

Pedro comes to the cantina and finds Felipe with José. Pedro speaks ill of Carlos’ treatment of his daughter and he thought Carlos was a decent guy. Felipe is listening, very carefully. He tells Pedro he’s no longer friends with Carlos because of what he did to Fernanda. It was unconscionable of him. Then he tells Pedro he’s in love with Fernanda himself.

Carlos has come to check on Isabela. He cautions her that depression could cause a spontaneous abortion and he’s sure that’s not what she wants. She agrees to accompany him to the hospital in the morning for tests. He starts to leave, but she still wants to talk—about “them,” now that Fernanda is in the picture. Carlos tells her Fer broke up with him, something that ought to please her. Isy says she’d be lying if she didn’t say she was glad. She’s willing to forget the past and move forward together. She still loves him. Carlos stops her from going in that direction. They’ll take it a day at a time. If the child is his, he’ll recognize it, care for all its needs and hers. Isy is emotional and crying as he leaves. As soon as she hears the door slam she begins to laugh. (She must have a devious plan. Both Fernanda and Carlos have appointments with her here in the morning.)

Luis is in his office with Mariana. I guess he forgave her because he’s saying he needs her help getting access to his daughter. Because of this pact Pedro and Amelia have, Amelia is reluctant to introduce him to her. He wants Mariana to make a date with Amelia somewhere her daughter will also be and then it’ll all happen very casually.

EPISODE #33 (Fri Apr 8) Pt. 4
Fernanda and Camila run the quesadilla stand for a day. Fer tells Cam her parents are getting a divorce, but doesn’t mention the break-up with Carlos.

Carlos leaves the breakfast table to say he has to pick up Isabela (I guess Nana Rosario goes some other time.) Somehow, he’s been diverted to a doctor’s office, with Isabela nowhere in sight. Carlos and the doctor are looking at an ultrasound video of a 2-mo. old fetus. The doctor says it seems to be a video from his clinic, but he’s never had a patient named Isabela de Leon and this is not his signature. It is a falsified certificate. WOW!

WOW indeed! I havent watched this yet, but im loving the end. Of course, there will probably be some explanation, but i hope this blows up in her face quickly. But i know it wont...not right now anyway

ANITA thank you so much, once again you have given us a full-on recap that covers all the details we might have missed (or misunderstood). The time and love you spend on the recaps are SOOOO appreciated!

Well, I thought Luis had turned over a new leaf and really cared about finding his daughter. Looking now like maybe he has peso signs in view. Meanwhile, here's hoping Isa's faux pregnancy is revealed without delay--just looking at her hair for the next few months is going to be hard enough!

Hard to believe that Camila A) hasn't gotten message that Carlos isn't interested and B) Camila hasn't found out who Carlos' real novia is/was. And C) that Carlos hasn't found a way convincingly to tell Camila "buzz off".

Anita, another exceptionally detailed, absolutely stellar recap.

"He’s not so fine anymore" and "Mariana starts to deny it, but sees his flaring nostrils up close and knows it’s useless to insist on her innocence were excellent but my hands down favorite was the clever "Marissa is drinking from the fount of faux-juice".

While I feel for Pedro, did he really think he and Amelia were going to live happily ever after? 19 years of terse responses, unreciprocated feelings and tolerance (at a minimum) rather that love, what did you expect? All bets are off. As you so smartly noted Anita "Pedro, you need to calm down and back off. The pact is null and void at this point. Luis is back. That’s a game changer". You need to swallow your hurt, accept what has happened and move on.

So Amelia wants to go "home" into the loving arms of her dear sister. Honestly? I'm surprised she just doesn't "leave" Fer with Pedro and go home alone.

J, I also thought Luis really was changing. It's all about the inheritance but I am holding onto a glimmer of hope that at least a bit of his speech to Amelia was true, and that he cares a bit for his daughter.

I'm surprised but pleased Isa's deception was uncovered so rapidly. Is it possible we will be spared further pretend baby drama? How refreshing that would be.

Danger Diego. Remember who you are and that comforting a student with understanding hugs may not be the best course of action.

Anita, thank you so much!

Hey, Anita, another super recap with rich detail on all the stuff that matters to us!

Given that Luis was displeased to learn that Marissa could not give him any bio kids, I think he actually is interested in his daughter to some extent as his daughter, but given his background of money grubbing, and his inside knowledge of her probable inheritance, we can't be sure his motives are pure by any stretch.

Felipe continues to be the oily snake in the grass that we have always seen him to be. Pedro doesn't really know Carlos except through what Fer tells him, and the few brief conversations he's had with him. But he knows Felipe because he's the one helping with the divorce, and thus has some trust in him, at least on that level. I just find myself hoping that something really awful happens to Felipe in the end, something like massive mutilation or forced marriage to Isabela.

They must have done some cutting, because the last few scenes didn't seem to flow properly. At least Carlos now has the goods on Isabela, but since he doesn't carry a day planner, he forgets about Rosario's real problems, and tends to Isabel's faked ones, apparently to be caught in her apartment when Fer shows up.

You do this so well, Anita. Thanks for everything.

David

Diana--About Amelia going home with or without Fer. I think she would have entertained going home without Fer before her talk with Luis. The inheritance, based on Old Fer meeting and knowing her makes a difference, whether she says it out loud or not (IMHO).

David--Could there be anything worse than an oily snake in the grass? One that thinks and talks. Yes, I see issues of trust making problems for Fer that Felipe takes advantage of. Pedro will come in on Felipe's side, making it harder for Carlos to work for a reconciliation.

I certainly didn't expect the false sonogram video to show up this early. I'm looking forward to Carlos' confrontation with Isy.

Great job Anita and thank you.

"Fer is really steamed up now. He could tell Isy about Fer, but not Fer about Isy" And that is the problem with his "lie" of omission and why she cannot trust him.

Luis is a dog and always will be a dog, he's just a smooth barking dog.

I agree Anita, Amelia would have gone home without Fernanda but her father wants the package.

Pedro has become the biggest whiner. What he thinks is logic is a poorly masked guilt trip but Amelia won't go there. He did remind her that legally Fernanda is his child and has his name but Luis could "fix" that.

Diego has already been warned his behavior was inappropriate by one of the nuns. He knows. "Don't Stand So Close To Me" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNIZofPB8ZM
