El Hotel de los Secretos #76, 5/13/16: The Black Widow

Hi everyone. I want to tell you all what a pleasure it's been recapping this fantastic telenovela and I'm sad to see it end. There are so few really good ones that when one finishes, it leave an empty hole that is hard to fill. We were lucky after Yo No Creo en los Hombres, we had another fantastic TN that followed it and that hole never formed.

This is very long, there was no way I could shorten in without leaving out vital information.

We start where we left off, Manuela and Felipe having a conjugal visit, and Julio and Isabel being told the story of how they faked Andres’ death. Julio wants to know why Ayala was willing to break the law to do this? Ayala is not disposed to let innocent people die for the benefit of rich people.

Belen has arrived at the hotel, wearing mourning black and a veil over her face, crying her eyes out at the injustice of Andres’ fate, through every fault of her own. She’s a first class drama queen, she’s utterly torn up, and runs to hug a startled Angela. Oleg pulls her off of Angela, but everyone wants an explanation of how this could have happened.
Viewerville is on the edge of our seats, waiting to hear her explanation.

She reminds everyone of the fight she and Andres had that the entire hotel staff, and many of the guest, overheard. Well, she just wanted to leave, so she took off, that’s all. While she tells this tale, Andres is up on the balcony hearing everything. He runs down to the proceedings yelling to Belen that he’s alive!!!!
All the mourners are shocked, but no one is more shocked than Belen, LOL. Andres has a big smile of his face, he’s so happy to see her, saying YOU’RE ALIVE, I DIDN’T KILL YOU. HUG YOUR HUSBAND. (I hope he’s putting on an act). As they hug, Angela is dumbfounded by Andres’ reaction and Sofia just lost the last remaining marble she had.

Teresa ushers Sofia into the office and asks the doc to give Sofia a dose of morphine. Wow, mom, get her hooked on it again, I guess she was more controllable while she was an addict. Doc doesn’t want to, but Teresa says it’s an order, lol. Sheesh, how many times can I laugh out loud? Diego, with a lock of hair out of place which I imagine is supposed to represent Diego’s newly unhinged personality, arrives and takes Teresa out to deal with matters.

Oleg corners Ayala, surely Ayala has something to do with this spectacle. On the contrary, he’s only a spectator, just like Oleg. Oleg wants an explanation. What happened, Ayala says, is la tiple, the soprano, calling herself Belen, conveniently disappeared, while her husband, el galan de la obra, the leading man, has been judged to be her assassin. She then appears with fake tears playing the part of the grieving widow, ready to assume the role of the new owner of the hotel. This story also has the father figure actor, who is called Judge Barreda, who had an interest in pressuring the investigation of a crime that never happened. There are still actors in this play that Ayala hasn’t been able to identify yet, but he will. Oleg tells Ayala that he will no longer listen to such stupidity, and leaves. Ayala says under his breath, “End of Act I.”

Andres, who wasn’t faking his happy surprise at seeing Belen is now in their suite, asking for an explanation from her. Before she tells him what happened, he tells her that he remembers nothing of that night, all he had was her bloody blouse. She tells him that he hit her, humiliated her, and he ripped off that bloody blouse from her. She had to run away to get away from him.
He was angry that the twins were Diego Montejo’s babies. She tells him that Diego abused her, she had to cover up the fact that they were his, or he would kill her. She would have lost everything if anyone knew what Diego did to her, and that she got pregnant as a result. Andres is tired of all the lies, but Belen is tired of having to ask forgiveness for everything she does. She’s there now because she loves Andres, and for what, he’s now with another woman. How quickly he got over Belen, thinking she was dead, and in short order, has a new love. Wow she’s good. Andres asks for forgiveness, lol. Argh! I’m tearing my hair out.

Julio is angry and tells Ayala he wants Isabel to leave Diego, but Ayala is arguing against that. Ayala want’s him to use his brains instead of his brawn, Isabel has a plan, she knows what she’s doing, let them be. Finally, Julio is talked down, he will keep quiet for now. Ayala runs into Natalia, who, poor girl, has had her heart wrenched out of her chest about a thousand times by now, she loses Andres to Belen, then gets him back, then loses him to Belen again and he marries Belen, then Belen disappears and Natalia gets Andres back, but he’s in jail, and then Andres dies and she loses him again. But then Andres is actually alive, and she gets him back, but then Belen shows up and she loses him again!!!!! She should be sharing a room with Sofia by now in the manicomio. Ayala tells her that he needs to talk to her.

Angela needs a hug from Lupe, she enters his room and does just that. I wish they would kiss already. Anyway, she tells him how much she wanted to talk to him about what had been happening the last few days, but she couldn’t.  Lupe thought she was mad at him, but she could never be mad at him, he’s her best friend! (ok, kiss already)

Diego is shouting at Isabel while she packs her clothes, she’s the one who cheated on him, made a fool of him, etc, but she just replies, I know what I did Diego. LOL. He wants to get back together, but she wouldn’t dream of it. Their marriage ended when HE RAPED HER, she really did shout that, turning her head so everyone could hear her, LOL. He shouts back that she’s an ADULTERER, again, he turns his head to the side when he says it. This is hilarious. He tries to grab her, but Isabel is standing her ground, don’t touch me, she says, she knows that Belen’s babies were his too. He tries to deny it, but all she then asks is, why is he threatening Sofia? He promises that she will know, and she then promises that he will pay for everything he’s done.
Julio is stomping mad down the hallway when Andres stops him. I think Julio was going to aid Isabel with Diego, but Andres tells him to not intervene. Julio finally agrees, and asks about him. Andres is confused, he doesn’t understand what is happening. Julio tells him the truth, Belen is a liar, but Andres only says that everyone has been lying. Julio wants to know if he’s going to give Belen another opportunity.

Ayala is at the cantina to meet with Natalia and Gabriel. But first, Malibea is being consoled by Ayala over the fact that she lost one of her girls to disease, but fortunately, the medicines have made the others healthy. Mel tells him about one of them who is missing though, her name was Fulgencia, and she was last seen with an oilman who showed up about 10 days ago.

Teresa is waking Sofia up because the baby is crying, but Sofia won’t. Teresa picks the baby up and then Sofia finally wakes up and see Cristina in her room. Teresa shakes her head, puts the baby down, and goes to doc Vics’ room, but then leaves again because he’s not there. Where is he? He’s holding a gun to Diego’s mother. She’s telling him she came to stop a tragedy from happening, and he knows it. But he wants her to leave, go back to Colombia. If she doesn’t, he will kill Diego himself, and she will have to take his cadaver back to Columbia with her.

Belen gets woken up in the middle of the night by Diego, he grabs her and wants to know why she told Isabel that he was the father of the twins. Why would she tell her? She would have everything to lose if it got out. After hurling many insults at her, he leaves.

Andres slept in his old room he shared with Julio last night, and Oleg shows up to talk with Belen that next morning. Oleg threatens to tell Andres everything she did to get him out of their way unless Belen gets Andres under control. Belen admits she planned it, but Oleg was the one who helped implement it. But Oleg knows that with his name being Alarcon, he will be believed, but Belen being a simple maid, will not. They now need to make new plans AGAIN. LOL. She needs to do her part now with Andres to get things back on board with him, now that he’s back in the picture AGAIN.

Julio hears Diego threatening Matilde as he walks past her room. Diego wants to know where Isabel spent the night last night, but Matilde stands her ground and tell him that he doesn’t scare her, and leave. He does. Julio asks where Isabel is, but Matilde thought she was with him, he goes off to look some more.

Diego runs to his office and grabs his gun. The front desk guy hands him a note saying it’s from someone who is waiting in the garden for him.

Matilde runs into Ayala, and Ayala tells her that he needs to talk to her, and he needs Ignacio too.

Diego meets his mother outside. She tells him that he asked her to come all this way, just so she could suffer? She wants him to leave with her, but he tells her he can’t. He then falls to his knees crying and tells her that he can’t leave without knowing who Isabel’s lover is. He can’t start over anywhere else because Isabel is everything to him. She tells him that since he wrote his first letter to her months ago asking for her help, she came, but she can’t help him and she wants to go to Spain together with him and start all over.

Julio finds Isabel in Romulo’s office, she tells Julio that Romulo tried to poison Teresa. She’s trying to find some evidence that it’s true. She found a life insurance policy made out to Angela. Julio thinks it could be proof that her mother tried to kill her father. (So Romulo tried to kill Teresa, it didn’t work and Teresa lived, but Teresa found out and then tried to kill Romulo the same way?) So Romulo got a policy written that would then give everything to Angela. But Isabel is still doubtful about the train of events.
Belen is down in the kitchen, looking for Andres. Angela grabs her and drags her to her office.
Meanwhile, Andres is talking with Natalia, what does she expect, now that both of them are alive, he has to go back to his marriage. Natalia tells him the hard truth, Belen only came back because he's the owner of El Gran Hotel! Naive Andres tells her that he knows she’s mad and seeing things though that cloudy lens, but it’s not that way. Natalia tells him that she was there, she saw that he died because of Belen’s fault, but Andres just isn’t ready to hear that.

Ayala meets with Dogaberto, Matilde, and Ignacio. He tells them that he just came from Melibea’s cantina. He found out that the night before last, a prostitute came up missing, the same night that they found the dead body. The missing prostitute has very similar look to Belen. He wants Matilde to do an exam of the body to see if she has the same measurements of the missing woman. And as for Ignacio, Ayala wants him to find Bulmaro Rangel, the man who was last seen with the missing prostitute. Ignacio recognizes that name as being the secretary of a colleague of his father.

Angela’s talk with Belen starts off on the right foot, she slaps Belen across the face, calling her a heartless hyena. She lays down the law, if Belen hurts Andres again, Angela will kill her, with her own hands. Punto! Ayala arrive to save Belen further embarrassment and tells them that he needs to talk to Belen.

Sofia wakes up finally with Teresa sitting watching her. Sofia pleads for help, her nightmares have returned, she can’t cope, everything is like before. Teresa picks up the bottle of morphine and pours it down Sofia’s throat. Just Wow!
A knock at the door is a camarero with a news of some unhappy countrymen are rising up in arms against the wealthy and are on their way to the hotel.  All the guests are leaving. Teresa runs down to see what is happening. Nothing she says is changing their minds, and off they go. Isabel takes Teresa off to talk in private. She wants to know from Teresa if Romulo had a life insurance policy. Teresa gets it out and shows her. It’s how Teresa was able to afford to install electricity in the hotel. Another dead end for Isabel.

Ayala talks to Belen in the office. She remembers Diego’s threats, and wants to tell Ayala about them, she will tell him who the worst criminal of all is. Ayala is listening. She and Andres did fight in the woods, but out of nowhere, Oleg hits Andres and knocks him out cold. He told Belen to take off her blouse but she wasn’t doing it fast enough, so he tore it off of her, and cut her arm with a knife in the process, saying he was sorry, but everyone has a price to pay. She then left, stayed with an aunt in Atlixco. She came back because she loved Andres and couldn’t live without him, and unfortunately, it was after Andres died, she hadn’t known what had happened to him. Ayala asks where she got money to go, she said that she sold her ring to a prostitute who had money. But while she tells us this story, we see a different story. We see a man killing a prostitute while Oleg and Belen watch, then we see them putting Belen’s ring on her finger.
She then tells them that if they want to know who the real criminal is, she will show them. They leave.
Belen takes them to the location where the bodies of Garrido and her baby are buried.  Dagoberto digs up the baby’s body and hands it to Belen, who is sobbing uncontrollably.

The end.

Looking forward to reading this awesome recap. Just a few thoughts before I do:

Andres' big reveal. Very anti-climactic.

Though I'm sitting at the Andres and Nat table, I'm beginning to believe that Nat deserves better.

Seems like the writers are trying to redeem Belen?

Nanette

cathyx stellar recap and I needed it bad. I concur the vacuum the end creates and will miss everything about this TN. Just to roam those halls.

"Sofia just lost the last remaining marble she had"

Andres is a simpleton

I hope when Andres floats back toward Natalie she tells him to stick it where she sun doesn't shine.

I think Belen is still playing to win.

Thank you so much, cathyx, for another excellent recap.

I also thought "Wow" when Teresa just poured the morphine down Sofía's throat.

Matilde and Isabel finally both held their own with Diego.

It was interesting that Diego's mommy wanted to take him to Spain so they could start over again as they always had. I wonder what all of their sordid ports of call have been.

Looks like we could be in the early stages of the Revolution.

Cathyx: it was an awesome recap. Thanks so much! I love your description of Natalia's and Andres' relationship.

I see after reading the recap that the writers aren't trying to redeem Belen. I do believe that she does have feelings for Andres and the babies but her greed and thirst for revenge far outweigh those feelings.

Diego has a chance to escape but his obsession with finding out who Isa's lover is is going to be his downfall.

CathyX, thank you for that recap!

I feel bad saying this BUT Andres might in fact be too stupid to live.

What was said in the conversation between Matilde and Ayala? After I think Ignacio called Matilde mi amor?

Thanks Cathyx! Brilliant recap. Thank you for this and all the others you've given us.

The name of the prostitute is Fulgencia Lopez. This is how the scene went down:

Ayala and Dagoberto speak to Mati and Ignacio about Fulgencia Lopez—the disappeared prostitute whose height and hair color match Belen’s. They’re getting “Belen’s” body exhumed, and Ayala wants Mati to examine it and compare it to the notes she took on Fulgencia when she examined her for syphilis. The last piece of the puzzle they have to figure out is who was the man who took her away. The name he gave was Bulmaro Rangel. Ignacio recognizes the name—he’s an employee of the business partner of his father. Ig is disturbed by this, so Ayala assures him that he’s not directly accusing his father of anything. Ig goes off to investigate.

Nanette- Ignacio calls Mati “my love” as he leaves. Ayala notices, and makes sure Mati knows that he heard it. He congratulates her. They make a great couple. He wonders if they'll just have a civil wedding (considering Mati's views on the Church). He doesn't give Mati a chance to explain that she and Ig aren't an official couple.

(The reason I've got so much of this written down is because Jardinera wrote me a note saying she couldn't recap. I thought she meant Friday's episode, wrote a quick recap, and THEN realized she meant next Tuesday. My bad!)

Andres may be a dope, but why hasn't Angela or Natalia told him about Gabe overhearing Belen with Oleg, and therefor knowing she already knew about the execution BEFORE it happened. He may be naive, but he's also not working with all the information. And damn! Belen is a convincing liar. Even some of you guys think she has feelings for Andres. She does NOT! Did you hear Oleg? SHE was the one who planned the whole thing. This is what they said:

Upstairs, Belen is visited by Oleg who is not pleased that she hasn’t totally managed to entrap Andres once again. He’s sure Andres is off rolling in the sack with some maid, just like his daddy. He’s come to remind her that once again their plans are falling apart. If his plans get ruined, so do hers.

Oleg: Do you want me to tell Andres what happened? Or have you forgotten that YOU were the one who planned the fake crime?
Belen: I planned it, but you’re the one who helped me implement it.

Oleg admits that’s true, but as Olegario Alarcón, he would be believed if he said he had nothing to do with it. Meanwhile, she, a simple maid, who slept with all her bosses, and sold her kids, would not. Belen gets it.

Vivi: thank you so much for clarifying Belen's true feelings and also her involvement in the plan. It seems that even after 10 or more novelas I'm still missing a lot. And thanks for explaining what Ayala said to Mati. I figured that's what was going on. I was just curious as to what he actually said. Poor Mati. Can't admit to herself or Ayala that she loves him.

Also, how did Belen know that Andres had hooked up with Nat?

Nanette- I can only guess that since Oleg was around and saw how close Andres was with Natalia after he got jailed, that he reported it to Belen.

I'm glad she decided to throw Diego under the bus after he nearly strangled her to death, insulted her, and threatened her life.

Also, it seems Isa and Ayala have some kind of plan to bring Diego down, which might explain why she was so calm and complacent when he threatened her and Sofia the last episode.

Isa now has the real life insurance policy (naming Angela as beneficiary) in hand. So I think it's safe to say that the one Teresa has naming her as beneficiary is a fake/forgery.

Vivi: duh! Or course Oleg would tell her especially since she has to make nice with Andres again.

Did seem a little out of character for Isa to be so calm in the face of Diego's rage.

Thanks for that clarification Vivi about Fulgencia. I struggled with Ayala's conversation with Melibea, but when he was talking to Matilde and Ignacio, I thought i figured it out. But apparently I didn't, lol. It never occurred to me that Fulgencia was a female name. I don't know where Ayala got the name Bulmaro Rangel, it was thrown out there by Ayala. Ok, i need to change the recap.

Belen is definitely not in love with Andres, she would not have planned his execution if she did.

Cathyx- LOL! There were some confusing conversations. Melibea was able to tell Ayala that the guy Fulgencia went off with was a "petrolero", an oil worker/prospector. After that, Ayala was able to track down the guy's name. Then it turns out he works for one of Oleg's oil biz partners.

Does anyone know who I can contact to voice my upset over the lousy and continuous screw ups of the closed captions? If it wasn't for the dedicated people who take the time and make the effort to recap these novellas I would not be able to watch them. There is no way I could follow the storyline. A great big THANK YOU to the caray caray recappers!!!

Belen has now killed Violeta's baby, is the mastermind and accessory to the murder of Fulgencia, and tried to get Andres killed for her murder. I do want her to get revenge on Diego for the way he's treated her, but that's it. I wish the heaviest of anvils to fall on her curly head after she takes Diego down.

Vivi: a big fat DITTO.

I wouldn't mind seeing CeCe take Diego down but I wouldn't want her to get in trouble for it.

One of your best recaps ever, Cathy...you wrote with a lot of verve. The dizzying on again off again Matilde/Andres romance description was superb as was the Wow! when Teresa poured morphine down Sofia's throat.

Also liked this:
Diego, with a lock of hair out of place which I imagine is supposed to represent Diego’s newly unhinged personality....

Near the end of the episode, when Diego was talking with his mother and his hair was pushed back, he actually looked attractive for the first time. I realize, belatedly, that this is a good-looking man who has managed, through his mannerisms and body language to appear totally repellent. Great job by the actor.

And great recap by you. Thanks.

Also, was "la tiple"9soprano) a new word for you? Sure was for me.

Belen is so convincing because she weaves truth, what someone wants to hear and flat out lies together. Also helps Andres is a bit slow.

Belen can take Diego down with her testimony he shot Garrido. Isabel can just stop whatever feeble plan she has.

Tofie- Yep, that's what makes her such an amazing liar-- truth, lie, ans wishful thinking on the part of the person being lied to. A naive and trusting person like Andres doesn't stand a chance!

Not sure what Belen is going to tell Ayala about Garrido and the baby, and not come out looking like an accessory. I'm sure she will play up being scared and that's why she kept quiet.

Want to point out something intriguing that Diego's mom said during their conversation in the garden:

"You know I can’t leave here without taking you with me. You’ve known since you wrote me that first letter months ago. When you started to have THOSE THOUGHTS/IDEAS again. You asked for my help."

Hmmmm....

Cathyx- Bulmaro isn't Olegario's secretary, but the worker of one of Oleg's business partners (socio).

Ok Vivi, thanks again, i will fix it.

ro1947, I believe the ccs are done my ones cable company. I watch on Hulu and have not had a problem with the ccs during this entire RN.

JudyB, the actor playing Diego is a very handsome man, i agree that he certainly isn't portrayed as handsome in this show. I've never seen him before this show, so I googled him. Although I'm not crazy about his totally hairless chest...

Tks so much Cathyx

Poor, sweet, naive adorable Andres, that baby needs help, I sure hope he is pretending, otherwise he belongs in the manicomio with Sofia.

Obviously Andres has doubts, since he could neither bring himself to kiss Belen on the lips, nor sleep with her. And that was before both Nat and Julio tried to convince him to dump Belen.

I'm new to Hulu, & it is great but it seems I can't get Telemundo, no big deal though, Telemundo lets you watch on their site for FREE.

Just now got the double entendre title.

Thought it was interesting that after Belen and Andres came back from the dead, Sofia started babbling about Romulo and Cristina coming back from the dead, which is when Teresa slapped her hand over Sofia's mouth, told her to shut up, and then ordered Doc Vic to give her morphine. OK, even if Sofia didn't kill Cristina, I understand why she's babbling about her since she helped Teresa move the body. But, why is she babbling about Romulo? Seems like she had something to do with Rom's death, or knows who does, and Teresa wants her to keep quiet about it.

And yet again, despite her occasional tears and regrets, Teresa puts HER needs above her child's. I gasped when she forced that bottle of drugs down Sofia's throat.

Oh poor Andres, he doesn't have a single braincell when things are about about Belen. A couple of tears of her were enough for him to ruin such a brilliant plan. I am sure that if Gabriel tells him what he heard Belen say, he will inmediately think that he is lYing to help Natalia conquer him or that he confused belens voice with another girl.
Everybody has try to make him open the eyes but oh well there is no worst blind than who that doesn't want to see. When Belen killed Violetas baby, Angela found the herbs and told Andres what Belen did but he didn't believe it.

Thanks for the recap cathyx!

Why oh why is Andres still as dumb as a doornail??? I wish those salt bullets would have knocked some sense into him!!

I can't believe there are only 5 episodes left. At least I still have Esclava Blanca on Telemundo (though it's not exactly as light-hearted and fun to watch as El Hotel because, well, slavery). Next Friday will so satisfying to finally see Diego punished and/or dead - but I will also be sad to not have this TN to look forward to anymore.

Gracias! I finally caught up (but still behind on Yago).

Andres will need to witness something truly horrible to open his eyes about Belen. She is poison. If she and Diego take each other out to hell I'll be happy.

Tremendous recap cathyx. What a joy reading your take on this TN through the series. We are ever so grateful.

These writers know how to spin a story. In one frame we are ready to bring on the biggest anvil ever for Belen, and in the next they show us her weeping over her dead child which was most likely genuine. But despite that, her trail of incidents, as you so wonderfully pointed out Vivi, does not make those tears mean more than her cold heartedness to get her mitts on money and power. The fact SHE planned Andres' demise...dead to me woman. Oleg is not going to go down because of her. He'll serve her up on a platter to the police if push comes to shove. Line up her anvil.

And someone get that baby away from Sophia.

So, I am starting to wonder if Sophia is our missing piece in more ways than one. She has always been privy to her mother's machinations and lies to keep the ownership of the hotel. Her troubled mind sometimes seems to be willing to interpret needed behavior to "please" her mother. What if SOPHIA is the one who poisoned Rom and did kill Cristina? We never saw the actual events on that, just someone's telling of the tale. She didn't hesitate to kill Beatriz. The baby maybe we put down to drugs, but there was a willingness inherent to kill or silence. Teresa shoving drugs down her throat tells me she needs her quiet in more ways than one. Teresa may have let her take the actions, but she supported her behavior and allowed it to stay hidden while she then did what was needed paperwork wise to benefit from all these questionable deaths. If it isn't Sophia, then it is Teresa and Sophia knows all.

Ayala is the best detective ever. He has everyone's number and it's so fun to watch. I'm still getting a tickle out of his expressions listening to Angela fake her anguish over a dead Andres. Those side eyes will stay with me a long time.

And really Andres???? One day you have the patio cheering your lack of demise, the next we want to slap you silly! So pretty, so dense.

Daisynjay

Daisynjay, the idea that Sofia could be behind the murder and attempted murder of her parents actually crossed my mind when I was watching this episode. It was when she told Isabel that she knew that Andres was her brother since she was 7 or 8. I thought, hmmm, she seems to be more privy to what's happening than we ever knew. And since she has mental issues, I could see her trying to help resolve family issues this way, being a people pleaser, wanting to help solve problems.
Cristina's death is still a mystery, I still think that Belen did it, we all know she's capable of that now, though it could also be Sofia, but I can't explain why she didn't take the letter if she did do it.

Cathyx- When Sofia kills she is not rational. Just like how she just left the knife she killed Bea with. If she killed Cris I can see her then freaking and running away without getting the letter.

It certainly would be a perfect twist as we have been made to feel for Sophia, even when she murdered Bea, the perspective has always been someone who is troubled and not thinking right. Clever writers making us actually sympathize with her...but we have seen her at her bossy worst too. If she could kill twice, what's to say she hasn't killed before? Is she the one who also knocked Andres out and tried to poison him...I mean the list could go on with the murders not associated to the GKK.

I sure hope Flippy gets out of jail soon. I get he tried to pull a fast one, but it was part of the plan and Ayala condoned it. He could be staying there to keep up the ruse of who was behind it, but rather have Ayala spring him and see he and Manuela ride off into the sunset.

So maybe no big anniversary celebration, but instead the revolution comes roaring through. Maybe I'll get my imagined end after all...let the stupid place go up in smoke.

Daisynjay

Daisynjay- Great new pic! I think since Felipe is in the Federal prison Ayala doesn't have a lot of pull. I'm sure he's working on it though as he juggles all this other stuff.

Wee! The revolutionaries are coming! And all the fighting, scheming, bickering, and murdering to get the hotel and the lands will all be for naught. Ha!

Note the the news Mateo reported was that the local peasants had somehow gotten arms. We know they got them from Manuela's gang. :)

Recapper Needed! Is anyone available to recap next Tuesday's episode? Even if you've never recapped before. Jardinera is on vacation. I'll be out of town, but will schedule the page to post 11pm EST and then someone can post a brief recap in the comments. Either way, I will post the discussion page because we don't have anyone to recap that night.

CathyX...Saw your question on the Yago line. Yes, definitely, catch up on past episodes and join the group. It's really well paced and well done. Worth watching.

Thanks JudyB. I will catch up when this one is done. I just can't keep up with more than one at a time.

Vivi, I can give a shot a recapping. I actually watch the show twice---once at 7:00 and then again at 10:00 because I have two Univision channels.

Cynthia- That is excellent! Thank you so much! I'll schedule the page to post at 11pm EST on Tuesday, and then you can paste your recap into the comments. Later, when I'm back at a computer I'll move your recap up to the main part of the page. Thanks again!

I hope Angela's threat to Belen isn't prophetic.

Thinking about Belen's plan. I assume she went below stairs to put it in motion and Andres did the job for her.

Belen is a pretty awful person for all the things she's done. But after learning she planned on Andres to be executed for her "death". That makes her pure evil.

Vivi, it will be an honor. I can post the recap right after the Pacific time showing of Hotel on Tuesday night.

Thanks Vivi. I had a computer upgrade and suddenly the Google link works again!! That is one of the infamous TN furballs I mention often; this is the soon to be four year old my son found in a parking lot when she was barely a couple months old when he was at college.

Darn that I'm starting to like Oleg's son and all he's been doing to help. If Mati is paired with anyone though, I'm still at the Ayala table. That big old teddy bear has won me over.

Cynthia: enjoy your comments and looking forward to your recap.

Disappointed that Andres resurrected in that fashion. I am not sure why they make him seem so naive; ah!!! can't believe he continues to fall for Belen's evil ways. I'm glad Angela slapped Belen, she deserved that and more!!

Im still a little a little perplexed with Dr. V. What is his deal?

We're all perplexed by Doc Vic. He's the biggest mystery of all, right now. Hard to tell if he's friend or foe.

It may not be the whole story, or even on the right path, but it is hard not to think that we aren't led by the writers to think that Simon/Dr. V is anything but Diego's first victim/wife's father -- playing the long con to bring him to some form of Justice. Perhaps he has been monitoring D's mother's communications and intercepted Diego's call/letter/wire to his mother. Would that make the timings about right for his appearance? But didn't Elise get confirmation from someone she trusted that someone answering to his name (and description) was a well reputed colleague? If so where is the real Dr V? Ouch.

Thanks, Cathyx. For this recap and for all of them through this fun and crazy trip. Angela & Lupe "I wish they would kiss already." LOL, me too!

When Andres first appeared, I had hoped he would "haunt" Belen for a little while. But no such luck.

On the other hand... "Andres only says that everyone has been lying." I think this is a hint that he's only pretending to be happy to see Belen. After all, he spent the night in his old room instead of with Belen. To me, this says that he has to limit the time he spends with her in order to keep his nausea under control.

If he's not faking, then he truly doesn't deserve Natalia, and he should die of stupidity.

Sofi on drugs again? Great, because that worked out so well before. What is Teresa thinking? Will Sofia even make it to Friday night?

Still lean to the woman in the picture with Diego being the Doc's daughter. But....
First, I don't think he's a fake in the medical department. He knew what was what with the cave in and he's been hands on with difficult situations.

But outlandish theory--do we know if the real Doc V, if not Simon, is male or female. What has my brain ticking is that Diego's mother sure knew her way around those drugs, needles and doses. Something not quite right about how much she knew. By her dress and manner, she has an aristocratic air about her too which supports Diego's disdain for the lower classes. He came from money or a professional parentage. Is mumsy a doctor too? is she the real Doc V?

What I have never been able to wrap my head around is his duplicity in the Sophia baby situation ( unless there is some link to a baby and his daughter, etc. and it touched a nerve) as well as his attraction to Teresa.

Julie: is Andres smart enough to fake it?

I want to post a pre-gran final HPLP list and then one for the gran final. Uni is advertising the GF for Friday as an hour ep. Usually, the GF's are two hours. Should I include Thursday in the gran final HPLP list?

Thanks for the lists, Nanette. I'm stunned by all that's happened in the past week.

As to whether Andres is smart enough to fake it, that is the 64,000 peso question.

Actually, no, I don't think that's the question exactly. I think he's smart enough - he's witnessed enough false behavior to be an expert at it by now. And he pretended to be dead for hours. My question would be, does he feel that it's immoral to deceive others in the pursuit of justice? And I would say no, he wouldn't balk at that.

He's lied countless times to protect Julio when the stakes were much lower. More recently, he spent a couple of minutes on the ground thinking he was dead. I bet that brought some clarity to his situation. He can do this. He should have no trouble lying in order to expose a schemer who tried to have him killed.

I think you should include Thursday in the gran final list, because Thursday and Friday were intended to be the finale together.

Daisynjay, interesting observation about Diego's mother's medical knowledge. I was thinking she must have been a nurse. Possibly our Dr. V's nurse, or (if he's not the real Dr Vicario) the real Dr V's nurse. Or else there was some heavy-duty medical drama going on in her household when she was younger.

Talk about Deadly Women!

I remember when Ayala jumped over a brick wall. I laughed like crazy. That's going to stay with me for a long time!!
