El Hotel de los Secretos #68, 5/3/16: Love Diagnosed and Perversions Disclosed

Immediately after Jacinto has viewed Julio and Sra. Montego’s private passion on display, the two discover a buried box with a bloodied jacket.  Upon examination, Detective Ayala finds an arrow appliqued inside the jacket; it appears to be a symbol of some secret Scottish Rite, as yet undetermined (I believe, as again I was working with no CC’s and bad audio).

Once Julio and Isabel head out, Matilda and Ayala scuffle over his pedantic attitude towards her.  It’s something to do with eroticism and not knowing real love if it smacked her upside the head cuz she’s really just cold-blooded; he supposedly only gets excited by dead bodies….dunno.  It’s a boring story-line and the actors totally miscast for this kind of love duo.  Mati races angrily back to the hotel to commiserate with Isa who tells her Mati is suffering from Luhhhhhv.  FF>>FF>>

Dona Teresa has set up a secret meeting between Dona Elisa and her Archbishop first cousin, who immediately excommunicates her for various perversions.  (Again, I'm not clear here-but I believe) she knew the priest at the convent where Sofia was sent to “dry out” was run by a criminal priest poseur, and then because she was loving on her personal sexratary and/or had crazy, sexual leanings towards her own flesh and blood son, and/or because she knew her “nieto” was a common variety flesh and blood baby, not “of the blood”--Vergarra Blood, that is—and tried to put one over on The Fambily to secure the fambily fortuna, then goes behind everyone’s back asking for an annulment of the marriage between the “innocent and sweet Sofia” and Alfredo.

To top it all off, Alfredito throws her out and refuses to have anything more to do with her.  She is dead to him.

Felipe delivers love-letters to his latest, a cougar catch, and the hubby finally starts to get wise.

There’s a raid on the church where Sofia was sent for her “re-coop-eration” and all the chickens are let loose to fly.  The so called priest gets a smack up side the head from AB Primo, and supposedly defrocks the Fake-Frocked One.  (So did Sofia heal on her own or did Fake Father’s roll in the sheets finally liberate her from her self-imposed frigidity and fears?  Do we know?  Do we care?)

While on a nature walk with his adopted child, Alfredito runs into Osario and Belen who give him the 411 on Freddy, Jr.’s  real baby-daddy.  Yep, D.I.E.G.O.
~~ end parte 1~~
==========================

~parte 2~

·       Jacinto lies thrice to his lord, el diablo de Diego, about not having seen Isa in the arms of another man.  Diego is more than honked off about the fact that the handwritten notes Jacinto got him, gave no clues as to who wrote the incriminating note about his wife’s infidelity.  “—You’re fired!!”

·       Teresa tells Diego she’s putting herself up as the new director of the hotel.  He reminds her she needs another fall guy because of the problem with murdered guests there—especially one by her own daughter—Beatriz.  He blackmails Teresa for the position again, advising her that he’s got the real murder weapon with Sofia’s finger prints well hidden.

·       Sofia returns to a very angry –smoldering- hubby who throws the whole moral book at her and her lying, thieving, greedy and perverted family.  He’s leaving!   F.I.N.AL.L.Y.!!! Sofia lets Fredito have it with the morality gun pointed right back at him aimed right between the eyes.  “—Know what, Babe?  You caused all this!  You married me only to get your inheritance and then lied when we lay together.  The night you pushed me down the stairs I lost your child.  You killed your child!  That was when I began to lose it.”  “—Then the night I killed my son, I killed us both.”

·       Flippy has apparently suggested his cougar go see the church in town for confession.  He fakes being the priest and learns she’s hot for Flippy’s bod.  He pretends to give her penances to follow and then surprises her by appearing and they begin steaming up the church windows.

·        Jacinto harrumphs through the dining room and gives guff to all the servants there.  He refuses to let them know the truth and pretends he’s still the driver.

·       Julio admits to a curious Isa where he truly met Cecille and tries to get her to understand he was a totally different person back then. He swears he’s hers and hers alone.  They end up doing the horizontal bed-bop.

·       Emma breaks it off with Flippy cuz there’s no there there, and no future.
·       Diego’s pissed cuz he hasn’t seen Isa all day.  The doc says she may be in her daddy’s old office.  Diego flies into a rage there and the two lovers stop before getting good and into it.  They get dressed in a hurry and sneak around and out.

·       Fredito tells Belen and Olisario that he’s not involved with his mother anymore an asks for time to think on the project as those lands are his and his alone.

·       Alfredo heads over to Andres’s room and out of gentleman’s decency, he states, it’s time he repays the favor and tell Andres who Belen’s baby’s daddy is.  Andres is heart-broken-bandage-off-the-eyes impactado to learn it’s Diego’s.

·       Belen, meanwhile is asking Natalia where hubby is.  Nat refuses to tell her. Angela comes to her rescue.  Belen gets on her high horse as being “the wife of the rightful heir and owner of the hotel” and threatens Nat’s job if she doesn’t fetch him immediately.  Suddenly Andres appears and calls her a trashy, lying, miserable whore.  (--And you’re point is????) He immediately attempts to strangle her and the whole downstairs crew tries to pull him off Belen.  (Pity.)

It is up. Enjoy. This was a good episodio, for sure.

Thanks, Jardinera! Wow, so much action for one hour!

I expressed a wish yesterday that Sofia would have a chance to savor victory over Elisa before getting her own anvil. My wish was granted. (I realize that there's at least one more anvil to fall on Sofia, for murdering Beatriz - but losing Alfredo was an anvil in itself.)

It's relatively early for so many anvils to be falling - I love it! I hate when they save everything for the gran final. But at this rate, aren't we going to run out of people to drop anvils on? Unless some people get multiple anvils... I like that idea. There is probably a waiting list of people wanting to drop anvils on Diego.

Last night I was switching back and forth between this and Chicago fire and noticed that it is true what they say, ''the last one to know is always the husband'', and that the best kept secret in this hotel is the relationship between Isa and July.

I am glad Jacinto is no longer working for Diego, good riddance! (both ways)

Wow, unlike some recent TN's (PyP looking at you) these ultimates are getting fun. Lots of good stuff and don't blink or you miss it scenes. Thanks Jardinera for the great recap!

Anyone feel bad for Elise at her downfall? Even though it was orchestrated with a grinning Teresa?....yeah, didn't think there was. Boo, friggin' Hoo.

Don't care Jacinto didn't squeal on JulIsa, he's still a punk. Maybe Mommy can show up and take him away. Far away. Really really far away.

Love the wine sniffing scenes.

Diego is about to implode. And now that Andres knows the truth, wonder if there will be one massive showdown between those two? Or, well if I were Andres, I would kick them all, Belen, Diego and Ole out of the hotel. I had a few moments where I warmed a bit to Belen, but honestly, lately, I still can't. And I still think if she wanted her child that badly, she would tell Ole to kiss off. Her real baby is getting that hotel and the money/prestige that comes with it.

The freeing at the sanitorium was rather weird. Sophia looked sorry it came to that. Wonder with Alfie telling everyone to go the devil whether Sophia finds her way back to Father Fakeout.

I actually rather enjoyed the Ayala/Mati fight if only it was making it very apparent these two supposedly mis-matched people were totally head over heels and couldn't handle the emotions. People of science, not so much people of feelings. I think they may still be ok. I'm rooting for them.

Isa better watch her back. Right now, she and Julio should just get on that train they headed for once before. But then we wouldn't have Ultimates and Diego needs to meet some sort of demise so she's free. These next weeks are going to be edge of seat I'm guessing.

Daisynjay

Thanks, Jardinera! The recap us great.

My favorite scene from last night: Detective Ayala and Matilda. They both have a lot to think about. I am rooting for them with you, Daisynjay!

Elisa sure got it from every which way last night--not that she didn't deserve it. Cannot wait for the same to happen to Teresa.

Isabel is still not being smart. She must have noticed by now that Diego is always looking for her and what violence he is capable of and she is willing to risk her own personal safety disappearing again and having sex with Julio? She needs her head examined.

Jacinto has been at Diego's beck and call like a dog for so long, can his lying to Diego be a sign of him starting to turn on Diego. Might he even kill him in response to a future altercation? Is Jacinto coming into his own? That would be sweet!

Snappy title and great resumen Jardinera. This whole paragraph was a gem:

• There’s a raid on the church where Sofia was sent for her “re-coop-eration” and all the chickens are let loose to fly.

I must say the retreat did have a sobering and healthy effect of our neurotic Sofia.

Unlike you though, I find the Matilde/Ayala simmering-to-a-boil romance really delightful. It's my favorite part of the story. And as tedious as worthless Felipe is, I got quite a laugh over the large number of repentance prayers he assigned to poor Emma. She has several years worth of work right there!

Sorry the sound was poor and no closed captions...as my hearing gets worse and worse, I really rely on those. Fortunately my Hulu on Roku almost always delivers.

Muchas gracias amiga. Made for great reading.

Thanks, Jarifa.

What an ep!! This TN NEVER disappoints.

Can anyone tell me exactly what Mati and Ayala said to each other? I'd love to know!

Tks Jar,

This is one novela I'm going to miss.
I like the May/Dec romance of Ayala & Mati.

Is Hulu better than Netflix for watching Univision?

Thanks so much, Jardinera. What an ending! Wow!

I don't feel sorry for Elisa, Sofia or Belen. They all just got a taste of their well-deserved anvils last night.

My recollection is that Alfredo did NOT push Sofia down the stairs. But in her pulling on HIM to try to get him to stay, she lost her balance and fell. The way she made it sound, Alfredo is some kind of abuser pushing his pregnant wife down the stairs on purpose. Glad that guilt trip didn't work on him. I really like the scenes with Alfredo and the baby, and Andres and the baby. I hope they don't abandon him now that they know they've been cuddling the spawn of Satan.

I also enjoyed Mati and Ayala's scene together. :)

What a great job Jardinera, thanks

"While on a nature walk with his adopted child, Alfredito runs into Osario and Belen who give him the 411 on Freddy, Jr.’s real baby-daddy. Yep, D.I.E.G.O"

I'm also with you and don't dig the Matilde/Ayala nomance.

I laughed when Isabel wanted to know it was over with CeCe but no mention she'll sleep with Diego tonight.

I am so glad Alfredo is done and burning bridges. I hope he gets out of that place alive. Shame on you Sofia for blaming the child's death on him.

I think Sofia has the potential to turn into a lukewarm version of Teresa. If she had Teresa's moxie, she'd be a true mini me.

Yes, Sofia did make it sound as though Alfredo had pushed her down the stairs. That's a very distorted version of what really happened.

But it is also true that they were fighting because he was trying to leave her. In fact, he left Sofia several times when she needed him. It was always Alfredo's habit to run away when things got difficult. Whether he was getting on a train, moving to a different room or just going for a "walk," he wasn't around when he should have been. I wish she had called him out on that! Especially because every time he came back, he'd scold her for not trusting him to help her.

Alfredo definitely got a raw deal marrying into that family. Not to mention having a mother like Elisa. But he should never have tried to run out on his pregnant wife, and he should feel guilty about that.

Wasn't Alfredo's inheritance contingent on him having a son? Now that everybody and their mother (literally) knows that the little one (what IS his name?) is neither Sofia's nor Alfredo's - why hasn't someone pointed out that he (Al) might not even own those lands free and clear? And since the baby is registered as his, why would he tell Andres the truth when he will very well have to take the kid with him wherever he goes? So Andres won't want the baby? But then, what about Belen? Aaay, my head hurts! LOL

Anon- I don't think Alfredo told Andres about the baby so that Andres would abandon the baby. I don't even think that's what he intends to do. He told him in order to open his eyes about Belen, and that she, Diego and the Alarcons have been playing him for a fool.

As long as the baby is registered legally as HIS child, and no one has informed the lawyers in charge of his father's estate, I think Alfredo is free and clear to continue to claim his inheritance.

Julie- ITA about everything you said about Alfredo. But I don't think he would have ever been enough to "save" Sofia, since she herself doesn't seem to want to let go of her mama and the hotel. A husband who is always fleeing, and a wife who is incapable of leaving. It was never going to work.

Oh, I agree Vivi that Alfredo couldn't have saved Sofia even if he'd tried. I'm just irritated that she never cut off any of his "I could have helped you" speeches by pointing out what, for me, has been obvious from the beginning: How is she supposed to trust him to help her when she can't even trust him to stick around?

Wanted to point something out, since it's been brought up a few times during past episodes/recap discussions. This episode when Julio and Isa speak about Ceci, he says something to the effect of, "Remember when I told you about the woman who saved me, kept me safe, and whom I had a relationship with? Well, that woman was Ceci, and the place she hid me was her brothel." I'm paraphrasing, but it was clear that he HAD told Isa the whole truth of his life before he met her, way back when. He only neglected to mention the name of the woman and her profession. And why should he have?

In any case, this is just to say that Isa being ticked off at Julio because Ceci showed up (uninvited by him) to the hotel, AFTER she had married Diego, has even less legs to stand on. She has NO reason to be mad at him, and he doesn't need to apologize. It's just jealousy on her part, pure and simple.

Thanks for the insightful comments amig@s. This epic epi did inspire a lot of ire!
