Sueño de amor, Ep. 42 (5.5.2016) From teacher warrior spinner hope... to cliché weepy nosy counselor!

¡Feliz 5 de mayo!

Bienvenidos al mundo del revés, donde nada el pájaro y vuela el pez

Adrián and his terrible, horrible, no good, very bad life
Adrián was hiding behind the boxes full of the most expensive glassware from around the world talking with Estrella on the phone, and she broke up with him for the ''N'' time. Then he is showered in insults because he is un ''estuche de monerías tonterías'' and Ernesto lists his ''achievements'': He likes K-pop spontaneous musical numbers, he had to repeat school year and was demoted to attend the poor one across the street, he is a drunk and a minor impregnated herself while he was drowned drunk. Sadly, that was the saddest thing and none of the above, because during the impregnation, he was not even aware and thus didn't enjoyed it! At least Salma can say that those 45 seconds of ''pleasure'' will ruin her whole life, but what about Adrián?
Los De la Colina discuss abortion vs. adoption, and seem not to agree on any of them.

Shameless Iker shows his gun to the kids
First She-Ra, now He-Nanny. Andrés (another agent taken out of the sleeve) will now take care of bringing back the joy to the Alegrías.
Iker should be getting ready for the reprimand in case Andrés does something wrong.

Is Homero's sleepover time with Rodrigo and after playing swapping accents where Rodrigo speaks in perfect spanish and Homero does the gringou, Ricardo, who can only make hotcakes and he makes them morning, noon and night, offers them to everybody. While the kids are weirdly quiet and still, Iker got a call from Baxter about the sombra and Homero gets sick after seeing Iker's gun. Then Rodrigo spilt the beans about his father being an agent too. Homero looks surprised. Maybe he was the only one who didn't know it!

Homero laughs like we did, when he finally makes the connection between the Alegrías being always joyful and Ricardo tells him the Derbez joke about Elmer Homero (el mero mero. the only one).

Even when Ricardo was one of the three suspects, Iker checked out You Tube moved all his connections to get the video of Vicente being killed and it seems like the culprit is a woman. They even got her picture. No, is not Shira!
And speaking about Shira, why are her last names different than Maximiliano's if they are siblings? And if they are, why Max's mother never mentioned her, and the kids also seem not to know they have an aunt? Maybe this one is not their favorite aunt?

Juárever. Later on, Rodrigo has his famous nightmare and scares his little friend. Homero, impactado, now will have nightmares and daymares too.

Esperanza finds out Salma is in Barcelona and now, being the problem solver of the world, is deeply worried. Should the girl abort? Should she keep the baby or give it for adoption?
Pato says Adrián is very upset. Being a father before 20 ruins anybody's life. Actually, that could happen at any age, just ask Ernesto or Kracy...

Silvana no tiene lana
Silvana's suitcases are ready and by the door when she is thrown out and she goes to live in the School, since it's free. She has burnt the bridges because she will make this divorce worse than Paul McCartney's. She told Mario she will make it a torture and he won't be able to get rid of her. Everybody is going to pay for this! Specially now that she owes uber the fare.

Silvana is not at all discreet. She could have announced  her presence with a tsunami alarm, because first, she asks Napoleón for help and then Quintina. If she wants to keep this a secret from the Santillanas, she is far from getting it. If dating is not allowed in Palintitute, setting home in school premises is neither. (I am sure there's a rule for that in Félix book). Specially when you have to wash and comb your hair in the bathroom. Now she has a ''gallito'' (Bed-head, even when she didn't sleep in a bed!) and to make matters worse, now she will also have to deal with the espeluznantes Agata's apparitions!

Why did you have to tell him?
Josefa and Virgilio can not sleep a wink and start crying after realizing how bad they did telling his favorite grandson and brother, respectively, about their favorite sinister shadow. All this while caressing one of many masks la sombra leave everywhere...

Kracy is very upset after that night at Prometeus, where she didn't even catch the flu (no pescó ni un resfriado).
Now she takes it against Ricardo, and like her soulmate/BFF Silvana, promises he will never be happy. The kids are not better with you -she said- for as long as you are an agent. BTW, her spanish has improved a lot lately, so much that now she corrects even Silvana, remember?
-Clear what yes (Claro que sí), answers Ricardo, because I am going to quit, take that!
I DO prefer my kids over my career! Not like ''other people''...

Porque te quiero, te maltrato
Adrián had a taste for flambé but couldn't find the alcohol. Ernesto has hidden even the mouthwash and is watching closely. He even keeps the key to the wine cellar in his underwear, for safety. After a little argument over the use of alcohol in the house, they hug. Luca almost peed on himself when he saw the two of them hugging! I am sure Adrián was just trying to get the key!

Pato gets loca
Thanks to Silvana, the law abiding citizen, the police caught Pedro almost immediately after Vicente was killed (and she also watched Luca and Vicente fight, but for some reason she didn't turn Luca in). Then thanks to Riker, he was set free to roam the world again. Turns out Adriana Mulberry was the culprit, another woman victimized by Eloy Occiso (Vicente). Even when she did it in self defense, to say the least, she will spend from 25 to life in prison. They didn't clarify if she was being harassed too in Elei and came to Mexico ex professo, or if she was being harassed in CDMX some time ago and she took the opportunity when she knew he was in town to make him pay for everything he did to her! Well... like those 20 years in Ricardo's life, I guess we'll never know!

Pato is not a true thick skinned duck. When the lieutenant apologize for the inconvenience, Pato goes beserk and almost gets thrown in another cell herself when she tries to scratch the man's eyes blinded by her anger. An apology won't do, Mister! My brother spent ONE NIGHT! ONE NIGHT IN JAIL because of you! (and because of himself, and his threats, and you not telling Mapa the truth, want me to keep going?).

Fluffiest pancakes ever!
Breakfast time for the Alegrías, except Homero who is gluten intolerant since he knew about the true identity of his father. They will enjoy Lala milk, orange juice, sweet mexican bread and guess what else? Hot cakes!! Made from scratch, not Aunt Jemima or leftovers from last night! Quacker, please endorse us, wink!

He learnt how to make them in prison. The secret ingredient is not love, but it helps:
First he moist the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, baking powder) with the liquids (milk, yolks, vinegar, extract, oil) without mixing too much. In another bowl he beats the egg whites until stiff, then fold everything together and let it rest while the grid is getting hot. Love is the extra ingredient and the Alegrías have a lot of that! Viva la familia!

Cowboy bath for Silvana
If this woman don't sweat, I don't see the reason why she has to take a bird bath. I am sure that with that makeup and hair, she can stay unaltered the same for ages. The trick is sleep sitting down with Darth Vader's mask on.

Salma tells Kristel she won't go to school today, not after trying to commit suicide, that's exhausting! Salma, from now on, every time you regret being pregnant or having a child, think of those 45 seconds you spent riding your little pony. I am sure you were very happy, right? So now, don't run away from trouble, face it. Specially when nobody forced you...

I thought the Colinas already had another house on the hills, but I guess it is the same and they haven't moved out yet. Ernesto reads the Shadow's wikipedia page and finds out about the Black orchids being his trademark. Now I am sure he wants one! Or maybe they're cheaper by the dozen!

He had it coming! Pato chisme caliente help spread the news like herpes, listen everyone! They caught the assassin of Vicente!

Ricardo drops Homero while his favorite granny and his favorite brother Virgilio wait for him. His not so favorite father the Shadow watches them from afar and gets very, very upset. Even his mask is crooked with anger. First my fingers and now my kids? You will pay for this, Ricardo, you are the only one to blame and now I can no longer text, type, or learn the sign language.

On the bright side, Kuri family will support Salma all the time, or at least for the next 9 months.

At school Esperanza and Pedro finally remember he is diabetic and talk about amputation, blindness, dialysis, you know, all those pesky side effects that a 19 yo. should know about when they don't take care of themselves.

El que quiera azul celeste
Aranza has Fosse's moves as a Chicago dancer. This girl is getting on my nerves with all that disguising. And if she has to work as a hostess, well, that's the price for wanting to study in a private school, when you have hundreds that are free. If you sell your soul to the devil, he will surely come to get it sooner or later!

Oh, uh... Homero is not answering the phone. I hope he didn't forget it at the Alegrías along with his dandruffy cap.

Nana-nana-nanana, I wanna start a fight!
Silvana didn't know Pedrito is innocent and goes to rub lemon on Esperanza's wound telling them that she gave the police the school video where he threatens Vincent.
Esperanza, finding that out, jumps like a hyena and her mind starts going over and over the idea of who sent the video footage to Comandante Rentería. Is ''circo maroma y teatro'' when Esperanza steps down the ladder to be at Silvanas level, and emulating Vicente and Luca, but without ever hitting each other (doing only the finger grabbing), threat with getting themselves fired. WTF? Wasn't that funny?
The students find that amusing not because the are both being very vulgar and rude in front of them in this guerra de verduleras and they should be restricting themselves because of their position and the workplace, but because Silvana STILL HAS THE GALLO ON HER HEAD! (''Bed head'').
To make her more angry, they yell kikirikí! Kikirikí te voy a dar, she replies.

This could be a warning sign for Ricardo. Or maybe the reason why in the future he will set eyes on another woman. Remember, they have to start making room for Marjorie!!
I am already wondering how Esperanza is going to die or if she will get the Pedrito Fernández treatment, after all Marjorie has gone though the experience, LOL!

In México we have this derogatory sufix adding the ending ''ucho, ucha'' to words, so, when Silvana calls Esperanza ''maestrucha'' is an insult. An ugly house is ''casucha'', a skinny guy is ''delgaducho'', etc. This doesn't include cachucha (cap) or cucho (crooked).

Ernesto seems to be infatuated with la sombra and probably wants to become him. Now he wants his máscara and is not Halloween. Murillo gets suspicious, but es secreto, if you don't keep it, you will end in a shallow grave. He better go see Mama Josefa, who seems to have many to spare.

Después de ahogado el niño, a tapar el pozo
Mario brings whatever the Alegrías leftover from breakfast to Salma, who is having breakfast in bed. Toast and jam, papaya and pineapple with orange juice. They will have a father-daughter truth exchanging moment. He confesses he stayed with Silvana because he loved her but when Ernesto calls he shows his nails and decides he is not going to work because he is with his daughter and NOW HE doesn't want to leave her alone (where was he when she got pregnant, right?)
The argument is that It takes 2 to tango, he was drunk, she took that opportunity to rape him and now this is the result. Not to worry, but history repeats itself, Silvana also ate the sandwich before recess (had sex before marriage), then she said kristel was premature!! Even when she was born weighing 10 pounds!!
Side note: If I were Pedro or Erasmo, I would think twice due to the genetic code she carries. Look at her grandma, her father, her mother and her sister! Boys! Get out of there!

-Careful, those are Murano's cups!
-If they are Murano's, what are they doing here?
Finally, Viviana and Luca are in their new house and is time for some family secrets. Her father in law, Ernesto Sr., was bitter and alcoholic, Ernesto is just bitter (and hornier) and hopefully Adrián will be hornier and one day, sober. Not one day like in only, one day like in the future!
The mother-son chat is interrupted by the symphony of noises that glass cups make and is not very musical... you better watch out with my Plutón cups, my Conan the Barbarian dinnerware, my Limonges porcelain and my Talaverna!!

The Alegreros are concern why Virgilio and Homero didn't attend school, but not because they care, because they like to speculate!

People that gossip together, stay together
Recess can be used for a number of things: The Alegreros like to eat prójimo and make assumptions (conjeturas) about everything. What if Salma this and that, que si Homero and Virgilio esto y lo otro, and so on and so forth. We thought la sombra's kids were Pamela and Paulo, but we will be discarding them two by two... what other two siblings we know here? Let's see... the two black twins? They gotta be sisters, right?

Later, Esperanza and Adrián in the rehearsal talk about paternity, changing diapers and not being able to sleep for the next 18 years at least. She is prolife, meaning that adoption rules! No abortion. Kristel tells them about the suicide attempt. One more stripe on the tiger!

Ricardo finds Homero's cachucha del chavo del ocho. Could it be DNA evidence? Everybody has touched and is made out of fabric, but maybe some hair (zoom-in in case we are stupid)...

Ernesto enjoys his new apartment and his Klimt's kiss counterfeit, while Arleth freezes and unfreezes in her high heels. How do those shoes allow her to work 8 hours a day? Really? Oh, she spents most of the time sitting down, I get it! He also wants a voice distorter and not being asked why he is collecting all those weird devices. He thinks he is clever not asking the same person for every thing so they don't make the connection, so, who is he going to ask for the cloak? The ring?

Nachamama Krustasia talks to herself (I am calling her Krustasia because she is kracy) and doesn't want to go back to Italy, even when they have 2 months paid vacation and excellent work laws there!!

Estrella and Adrián's relationship is complicated. More now that Salma became a human bakery.
She, like Cuauhtémoc, is not on a bed of roses, so this time the breakup is forever (I am sure she had said that already). And this time she meant it. And she will not be Becky with the good hair because she can't stand seeing Andrés face!

A mal paso darle Gerber
Esperanza runs to Manzanares household because she is, besides a teacher warrior spinner hope and therapist wanna be, a Metiche nosey. She loves sticking her spoon in everybody's pot and she even finds the time to DO IT!! After spinning, teaching, boiling vegetables, drinking latté and all that!
Having the posters of Flans and Kabah as witnesses, she repeats once more what she has been saying for the full hour. We get it already, No more suicide attempts, No adoption, no abortion!! What fun is that? Esperanza, you are taking all the fun outta life!

Anyway. They all melt in a huge hug suffocating Salma who is about to throw up on Grandma Maggie's horrendous fabric flower brooch. WHAT? NO SELFIE?! Sasquatch! That could break the internet!!

Thanks to my prayers to the Virgin of the Peace, no stooges today! Yupi!

Well... nothing much to see here, but I managed.

Enjoy the pancakes!!

Thanks, Pablo. Very funny!

"Wandering Anastasia" was just weird. Are we going to have to put up with her again???

I could not believe Esperanza wanted Estrella to take Salma's role in the musical. Guess she just doesn't think much these days.

I liked that Agatá creeped out Silvana.

Poor Homero. I felt sorry for the kid having to hear all about his rotten father.

Pablo, this was great...

"Adrián and his terrible, horrible, no good, very bad life" hit it out of the park. I also enjoyed "Now she has a ''gallito'' (Bed-head, even when she didn't sleep in a bed!") and "Ernesto seems to be infatuated with la sombra and probably wants to become him. Now he wants his máscara and is not Halloween" were more favorites.

"Homero, impactado, now will have nightmares and daymares too". Yes, I also felt badly for him Jarifa. He is such a cute kid and his wide eyed, incredulous stares were hard to watch. What is the poor kid to think?

"And if they are, why Max's mother never mentioned her, and the kids also seem not to know they have an aunt? Maybe this one is not their favorite aunt?" Thank you Pablo. I didn't put two and two together, but now that you have mentioned it, I don't think they know she is their aunt. I hope she is safely away and can reappear after La Sombra is "gone". I say that because I'm hoping she is salvageable if she hasn't hurt anyone or done anything irredeemable?

My favorite scenes were Ernesto finally hugging Adrian (although I know I should despise Ernesto and do except when he is kind to his son) and Mario standing up to Ernesto. I think Salma was proud. I sure was.

Diana

Diana, I agree it was nice seeing Ernesto give Adrián a hug. It is too bad he is still so inconsistent in his reactions to Adrián. That sure does not help Adrián but is very true to life in how some people are.

I wonder if Ernesto knows he could get himself killed or injured just by wearing that mask. Agents might shoot first and ask questions if the target is still able to respond.

Esperanza counseling Salma to have the baby and put it up for adoption. Isn't giving that kind of advice just a tad intrusive and presumptious?

There was so much action this week and plot lines that were started and completed. I hope they keep it up.

Jarifa, have Esperanza and Salma had much interaction? I know Salma tried to take pictures and video of Espe and Ricardo but other than that their discussions seemed minimal. Am I wrong?

I agree that intrusive and presumptuous (perfect words)apply to Esperanza.

I would think long and hard about offering any unsolicited advice in such a situation to anyone who was not immediate family. She is not family nor a family friend. This could be an irrevocable decision and certainly life altering, whatever course of action is chosen.

I wish she had said that she cared about Salma and would support her with whatever decision she made.

I have my opinion but I am going to keep it to myself which is what Esperanza should have done! :)

Sometimes, people's hearts are in the right place but unfortunately, their mouths aren't...

Diana

Hey amigoowz! I'm finally caught up on SdA!

Many thanks, Jarifa, for an excellent Wednesday recap! You got quite a few dance episodes and sobfest episodes. I sure I'm glad I dodged that one. Thanks for taking (yet another) one for the team! :) Still, it isn't the most tears I've seen in a TN episode. I've had the misfortune of watching the unintentional comedy "La Madrastra" and SdA's Wednesday episode is what you get on "La Madrastra" in almost every single episode!

Thanks ever so much, Pablo for delighting us with yet another gem! I was laughing throughout and especially appreciated the dichos. You instruct and entertain at the same time.

I agree with all of you about Maestra Metiche. She ought to keep her unsolicited opinions to herself! She had no business suggesting choices to Salma or even discussing her pregnancy with her beyond the standard: "I care about you and you can always count on my support". Oh well, it's Osorio: if he doesn't preach, he dies.

A belated ¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo! Hope you had a great day! :)

Thanks for the recap Pablo! And the Spanish words! I learned gallo last night though I couldn't think of the English translation right away. Is it only used for bedhead or could cowlick (not necessarily caused by sleeping on your hair) also be a translation?

A wonderful, marvelous, no bad very good recap!

Esperanza needs to keep her nosy nose out of places it doesn't belong. Who does she think she is? That baby is sorta family to her in that Adrian is Pato's brother, but I think Miss Manners would agree that this is way too many degrees of separation to even voice an opinion to Salma unsolicited. Sheesh. Really though I'm surprised Super Luca the Saint hasn't already stepped in with the perfect kindergarten platitudes to save the day. I guess he's been busy murdering Vicente or something (right? Dressed as a woman, perhaps?)

What kind of villain keeps his villain masks at his mama's house? What kind of woman shares her son's villainy with his poor kids instead of with a police officer who will maybe keep him from killing more people? Maybe La Sombra is going to turn out to be the hero. Maybe Ric and his ilk really are the villains, like run of the mill corrupt cops, and La Sombra is stealing back art that was stolen by the Nazis and the grateful original owners or their families are giving generous donations to refugee and natural disaster recovery and cancer research organizations as a token of their gratitude to La Sombra. Maybe there would never have been any murders until Ric and gang got involved because the corrupt muckety mucks hired them to keep the art from being returned to where it belonged.

Has La Sombra even been stealing any art? I feel like if the basis of the show is that Ric is trying to capture an art thief, we should at least see some good art heist scenes. Did any of you watch Camaleones? That was a fun show. The PROTAGONISTS were art thieves, and we actually got some fun heist scenes!

Well... the word gallo in México has hundreds of meanings, from the bird to the serenata, etc. This one in the hair I searched but didn't find anything, so I used bedhead, for when your hair gets messed up in the morning. I think cowlick is what we call ''remolino'' swirl, but we have ''parece que te lamió una vaca'' and can be used like with Félix, who always have his hair very slick, like he was in fact licked by a cow. Remember Alfalfa?
