Un Camino Hacia el Destino-Week 13 (May 16, 2016) First Half
This week we are surely in for some surprises. When Amelia gets back from the D.F., will Fernanda run into her at Don Fernando’s hacienda or will they manage to miss each other? Will Luis stalk the hacienda until he sees Amelia and waylay her to find out where Fernanda is? So far, Pedro has been able to keep Luis and Fernanda apart by pure strength of will, but in doing so is also keeping Fernanda and Carlos, the love of her life, apart, leaving room for a certain Dr. Javier to move in. In Friday’s encounter Javier and Carlos had a standoff. What is next for our pixie-perfect heroine?
Note: This post will cover Episodes #58-Mon, #59-Tue, #60-Wed. The Second Half will be posted on Thursday and cover Episodes #61-Thu and #62-Fri and carry us through the weekend.

Lookin forward to the next recap.
Thanks Anita.:-)
I also think it's a bit too soon for Luis to find out exactly who his daughter is. I can't wait for that episode!
I look forward to the bonding of the two Fers though. I totally agree Nina that the younger Fer is just what the doctor ordered to make old Fer happy again.
Anita, can't wait to read your recap.
Diana
I think i can catch back up today but it's getting difficult. This time ofthe year...ugh!
Yes, Cam had every right to be upset. Didn't she just ride in on her white horse and get Fer the job she so desperately needed?
If Fer ever needed to weave her charms and ask for forgiveness, this is it.
Diana
Diana, yeah, I don't know exactly how they will do it, but I think Fer will continue to be separated from Amelia.
Pedro is causing more problems for everyone. Maybe he is crazy.
David
Fernanda comes to tell a sleeping Pedro about the nice old gentleman she’s taking care of. She’s going to go find Javier to find out why Pedro is sleeping in the middle of the day. Jay tells her he thought things were going well. Pedro was animated to be given the task of creating some flower beds on the hospital grounds. Then Lupe came for a visit and she inadvertently mentioned Fer’s full-time job and losing the scholarship. She thought he knew and Pedro got extremely agitated again. Lupe didn’t mean it.
Camila has come to the hospital. She has a run-in with Miss Frizzy Head of 2010. Isy asks her where she’s going. Cam says to see Carlos, if it’s any of her business. Actually it is her business, replies Isy. Carlos is hers, so hands off. Cam says if that’s true, he would have said something to her. Well, she’s wrong. Carlos is meant for her—a real woman, not a couple of schoolgirls. She was victorious separating Carlos’ little noviasco with Fer, so she definitely won’t have any trouble separating Cam from Carlos, if she dares get near him. She’ll squash her like a bug.
Camila is taken completely by surprise to hear that Fer and Carlos were together. They both liked him and they talked about chasing him on the up and up. Isy says Fer played dirty. Isy is loving the confusion and turmoil Cam is in. Isy continues. Fer merely played at love. Fer thought she could take Carlos away from Isy, but it didn’t work. Cam still doubts Isy. Fer is her best friend. She would have told her all this. Isy guesses she wasn’t that good a friend, then. She’d better stay away from Carlos, or else.
Fer is talking to Tía Rosaura and Sor Sonrisa in the school office. Fer is very troubled by what Pedro’s reaction will be when he sees her because now he knows about the job and the loss of the scholarship. Rosaura can’t go with her the following day, to run interference with Pedro, but asks Sor Sonrisa to go.
Next morning Fer and Sor Sonrisa arrive to talk to Pedro. He’s awake but groggy, but not groggy enough to want to talk to Fer alone. After some verbal faux-pas, Sor excuses herself. Pedro asks why she didn’t tell him about quitting her university studies, losing the scholarship and working full time. Fer says she didn’t want to worry him. Wash, Rinse, Repeat why she did it.
Pedro says he doesn’t want to be a kept man—by his daughter, no less. It hurts, almost as much as Fer’s mother leaving him. Fer knows it affected him so much he ended up in the Crazy Inn (thanks, Delilah). He should remember, though, she left Fer, too. But she can’t leave him here to relapse over and over. He needs to make the effort to get better and she’s going to help him, whether he likes it or not. She tells him where she is working—for Camila’s grandfather, or step-grandfather. She know it will upset him to know his name, but no more secrets. It’s Don Fernando Altamirano. Cara de impactada de Pedro. Only he goes overboard.
She absolutely cannot work there. He puts his foot down. He yells at her, pacing and raging. He’s her father. Still, he won’t tell her why. She needs a reason. Fer will not let him treat her like her mother did. He’s like her more and more each day. Pedro, now desperate, says maybe she had good reason to treat her that way. He doesn’t like how she is distancing herself from him. Fer states clearly, for the record, it is not she. He’s the one distancing himself from her, he just doesn’t realize it. She’s off to her job now. Her last words are that he’s fighting against her, Carlos, Jay, everybody, when he should be fighting for himself to get well. She needs him the way he was, the father who supported her, not this stranger. She leaves. Pedro decides he has to leave the clinic to remove her from that house. Fer shouldn’t be working in her family’s house to pay for his hospitalization. He doesn’t want to be a burden to her.
Breakfast at the Altamira Hacienda is noisy with the sniping, especially when Fernanda’s name is mentioned. When Don Fer mentions that if Fer is late it might be because she had a date with “love.” That’s it for Camila. She can’t finish her breakfast, gets up and leaves.
WoW! We haven’t seen Lucero and Diego in awhile. They seem to have gotten to know each other better now and are having breakfast together at a restaurant. She’s a bit nervous to be seen with him in public because someone might recognize her and tattle to her ma. Diego is sincere and serious about marrying Lucero, but will respect her decision to wait until she’s finished university. He tells her the waiting gets harder every day because he loves her so much. Lucero loves him, too. He reaches over to kiss her but she avoids his lips and looks around.
Apparently Lucero has been having second thoughts about waiting so long. He wants her to think about it. If they don’t wait, they could start a family. Have some kids, adopt some kids. He asks her if she would marry him before the date she set for herself. Lucero says she’d marry him right now. Diego gets his kiss in a public place.
Lucero and Diego walk back to school. Since they have no classes that day, she’s going to go talk to her mother about getting married. Diego offers to go with her. She prefers to confront her mother alone. If she doesn’t approve, Lucero will miss her, but she’s content to know she’ll be with Diego. They kiss and hug. (Yawn. Can't believe I'm rolling my eyes over any scene with A.C. in it)
Fer finally arrives at the hacienda. Mariana makes a big to do because she’s late. Fer promises it won’t happen again. She leaves and Camila walks in. Fer is happy to see her, until Cam calls her a traitor. Cam tells her what she learned from Isy. Fer was seeing Carlos behind her back. It wasn’t fair play. Just then Carlos walks in and overhears some of the things Cam is saying to Fer. He tells Cam he cannot insult Fer in front of him. This is something between him and Fernanda alone. Cam says she doesn’t think so. She just found out from Isy that it’s Isy who’s the love of his life and they are still together. Carlos says that’s not true. They broke up a long time ago. Fer thinks she’s witnessing déjà vu all over again, with two different persons. She tells Carlos to butt out. She’ll talk to Camila when they’re alone, but not on the job. Cam says she’s sorry she ever helped get her the job. Carlos is saved by the cell. There’s been an emergency at the hospital. There are lots of victims. They need him. He has to leave.
Jay finds out Pedro is gone. Jay worries about something happening to him. What would he tell Fer. They start looking for him. Pedro is wandering the streets of the town in his Karate Kid Whites (thank you, Delilah) with people staring, scattering, laughing (but nobody calls the hospital).
Isy the Frizzy is visiting Andrea (to gloat and glean information). Andrea admits she can’t forget Luis. She knows he’s a louse and a loser and as wonderful as Leo is, she loves Luis. (What *is* it about these women who love Luis.) Isy recommends forgetting him because he knows she went to Cancun with Leo. Andrea sits up and pays attention. How did he learn that, she wonders. Isy’s flashback tells us it was Isy, but she keeps it from Andrea. Instead she tells Andrea Luis hates her. Andrea says she can live without his love, but she can’t live with his hate. She needs to go see him.
Mariana has come to see Luis (to gloat and plot). He’s packing up the detritus of his ruined career in a cardboard box (he emphasizes this). He knew himself as a jerk, but never when it came to his work. He had dreams and plans. Mariana has a perfect plot for them. She wants to get rid of the little swindler and wants Luis’ help. The plan is to pin the robbery at the construction office on the little swindler. Luis laughs. Her plans never work out. The girl wasn’t even around and Luis knows Mariana herself is the one who committed the robbery. Mariana is offended. Luis deduced she needed the money to pay off the blackmailer. He’ll help her, as soon as Mariana tells her why she hates the girl so much. It’s simple, she says. The girl swindled him. He’s the only man she’s ever loved. Whoever hurts him, hurts her. Luis thinks that’s bo--o--o-gus (as Tommy Magliozzi used to say). Before Mariana can get into any deeper doodoo, Marissa arrives to see how the packing was going. She thought he’d be gone by now. Mariana leaves.
Fer is still trying to get Camila to listen to *her* reasons for not telling Cam about her relationship with Carlos. Fer says she tried several times to tell her, but Cam wouldn’t listen. Carlos aside, they can still be friends. Fer reminds her how many times she told Cam that Carlos was not interested in her. Cam thinks she should have told her Carlos was in love with Fer. She looked like a fool in front of Carlos. All Fer can say in several different ways is that she didn’t want to hurt Cam. Her friendship was the most important thing to her and she didn’t want to lose Camila. When she broke up with Carlos because of Isy, she didn’t say anything for the same reasons. She admits she didn’t tell the truth. She wants to be forgiven. Cam can’t. She leaves Fer disconsolate.
Pedro couldn’t be found. Jay is beside himself. Adelina tells Jay about his earlier attempt. She stopped him. She didn’t report it because she didn’t think he’d try it again. Rosaura arrives and learns Pedro has escaped. Jay wants to contact Fer. Rosaura says she’ll get Camila’s contact information from the school office.
Mariana returns home and finds Fer still in the living room, crying. Then the house phone rings. Mariana hands it to Fer. It’s Jay to tell her about Pedro’s escape. She apologizes to Mariana and asks to leave. Rosaura and Jay are trying to calm each other down for Fer’s sake. She’s on her way. He says if security doesn’t find him, they will have to inform the police.
At the regular hospital, Dr. Macias and Carlos are glad the crisis is over. Marcos catches up with Carlos and tells him about Pedro escaping. Meanwhile, Pedro runs into Lupe and asks for some money. He needs to go get Fer. She promises to help him, but first he has to bathe and change into some regular clothes, something of Cesar’s. He says he’d rather go home, or what is left of his home and think about what he’s going to do next. His mission, he says to himself, is to get Fer out of her grandfather’s house.
Now that Luis and Marissa are alone, Luis says she knew all along where he was, so why did she really come? She came to tell him Carlos withdrew the charges. Luis thinks that is very odd thing for Carlos to do. Marissa says she and Carlos talked about it and that’s the decision he came to. She tries to leave, but Luis won’t let her leave just yet.
He gives it one more good old college try, about what they mean to each other after all these years; about that last kiss—the one he gave her with all his heart and returned by her with her soul. Marissa says he’s mistaken. She did not kiss him back. Luis says he knows her. She can’t lie to herself. He knows she still loves him. She turns away in disgust and tells him not to make things worse. He loves her and will do anything for her to forgive him and he can return to her. He leans in and takes her face in both his hands and for all practical purposes ends up a kiss, because Andrea walks in and sees the two of them, Luis’ back to her. (Whew, thank goodness it wasn’t Carlos or there’d be a dead Luis on the floor.)
Sorry to have to leave off with this image in our collective minds, but they gave us no choice. Hope we find out tonight the kiss was as bo--o--o-gus as Luis.
Where's those anvils ?
"to gloat and glean and plot'
30 year old Diego gotta marry Lucero now, a freshman in college, without the support of her family, start making babies and adopt more. What century is this?
Golly, Pedro is becoming a psycho villain to protect his own self interest
Though the scene was well done, I'm not certain had Fernanda flashed her relationship with Carlos on a jumbo-tron it would have sunk in Camila's thick skull.
Pedro did not hear ANYTHING Fer said. He's got a one track mind where Fer and Luis are concerned. Luis cannot take Fer away from him. He's missing the point that other people who care about him are there to support him, namely Lupe, Ordonez, Marissa, and of course Fernanda. He should know *her* well enough by now to know Luis can't forcibly take her away from someone she loves so dearly. She wouldn't stand for it.
He needs to stop being a helicopter dad. He sees his control over Fer disappearing and chalks it up to outside forces distancing her from him. I'm glad Fer said what she did to him, even though he wasn't hearing her.
Poor Camila, she feels humiliated and blames it on Fernanda. I hope something comes along to salvage this friendship. Fernanda is surrounded by men, men who act like boys, and two nuns. She has no appreciable female companionship now.
Like tofie, I think Pedro is getting worse, and Jay's treatment (or lack thereof) certainly isn't helping. I don't remember any sessions where Jay has tried to find the root of Pedro's anxieties, he just sedates him when he acts up.
Jeez, they just keep dragging Isy into the mix. Don't know what would serve as an adequate shield for her demented attentions, maybe some sort of bug spray.
I wonder what Lupe has in mind, what with her sort of taking charge of Pedro?
Andrea certainly got an eyeful. Maybe that image will help her to get over her residual feelings for Luis.
Thanks again, Anita.
David
I'm getting more and more disturbed about the Diego-Lucero story. I feel that some of the men in this TN are trying to rob the girls of their youth. First Carlos plans to adopt -- without asking Fernanda's opinion. And now Diego wants to adopt a tribe of children "like the couples in Hollywood" -- a Pitt-Jolie reference, I guess. Too much, too soon!
Being a stay-at-home mom is great, but so is having some skills behind you -- in case your husband leaves you for a younger woman. Or maybe he dies, leaving you with a pile of bills for his toys, or maybe he makes some really bad investments, so that you go from rich to penniless overnight (happened to someone I know).
I hope I'm not disgusted with where the writers are going with this.
"Wash, Rinse, Repeat why she did it" and "He’s packing up the detritus of his ruined career in a cardboard box (he emphasizes this)" were among my favorites.
Our spunky, kindhearted heroine has received yet another blow, the loss of her dearest friend, Cam. "She leaves Fer disconsolate". How much more can this gentle soul take?
We've all commented that Fernanda keeping her friend in the dark was wrong on so many levels. Still, this white lie of omission was, like everything she does, cloaked in kindness in wanting to shield anyone she loves or cares about from being hurt.
So much obsession. And almost all of it over Fernanda. From Carlos - I must keep my daughter safe from the entire world. From Carlos - You must love me as I love you. From Jav - I love you even though you have no feelings for me whatsoever. And she hasn't yet been subjected to "I'm your mother and I do love you after all" and/or "I'm your father and I love you (especially as you will inherit it all!). Sigh.
I'm hoping Old Fer will love a while longer and prosper mentally from Fernanda's effusive joy. Will Cam become a help or a hindrance in reuniting our star crossed couple?
"Andrea says she can live without his love, but she can’t live with his hate". If I cared, that statement would bother me...Alas, I don't and it doesn't...
I fear Dr. Jav's medical ministering leaves a lot to be desired. Pedro is frolicking around the streets and it was a stroke of luck Lupe found her. He obviously needs a better team.
"Sorry to have to leave off with this image in our collective minds, but they gave us no choice. Hope we find out tonight the kiss was as bo--o--o-gus as Luis".
Wonderful Anita! Thank you so much for giving us something wonderful to look forward to each day.
Diana
What *is* it about these women who love Luis - I just don't know! I see nothing about him that warrants this type of attraction. He sucks as an attorney, he's not really that attractive (he's just an average looking man that would be with a woman who happened to love him) he's no Shemar Moore!
Isy is not just a pestering fly...she's a rat! Just when you think you've gotten rid of her, there she is leaving her rat droppings all over the place. On top of it she has the nerve to tell Camilla that SHE is a stalker. (well, it's true) but she's in no position to be pointing fingers at other stalkers when she is the queen of cluelessness and stalking. She is on a different level. Cam feigned ignorance and stalked...while she knew the truth and is telling herself he loves her not some girl on a stalker crazy b**ch level.
dy77 and Diana - I agree with David and tofie. Carlos and Fer could have gotten married and had six kids and Camilia still would think she had a chance, but some furry rat tells her something and she believes it? He pushed her away, he wanted to stay by Fer's side and spend the night when she was hospitalized (Cam say and heard this). He is always with Fer when she appeared. C'mon!
Andrea *sigh*, I thought you were over that bastard!
Mariana, are you serious? How in the hell do you pin a robbery on someone who had no way of getting in the office let along the safe to steal money? Why would she come work for you dad as a caregiver if she has all of that money? She gets the dumb**ch title and reigns supreme!
Even her aunt, the white lying nun, is in Pedro's camp and couldn't even keep a real roof over her head.
What a joy it is to have these telenovelas, that are like good books that hold your attention for awhile and when you put them aside, the memories still linger.
Man, I was blown! Then 5 years later, 10 years later, or whatever that was! I'm used to it now and actually glad that they do end. I just wished that they ended better PyP wasn't too bad with the 6 months later stuff (that's a little more believable)
Oh well, back to Camino! Sorry folks!
To see how that turns out.
Pedro don't want fer in her grampy's house cuz hes afraid of loosing her to louy the louse. That and his parania has
Really got him going. Some is lack of imformation. well I'll be glad when he gets the right information because he's kind of annoying me with that stay away from carlos montra he's got going on when hes slappin himself upside the head.
The professor is gettin a bit impatient he wants sex. He may not have to wait to much longer.
Poor fer needs a break. Shes being pulled in to many directions. Im surprised shes not the one in a straight jacket.
Her moms crazy who drove her dad nuts, somebody has to be sane in that family. "STOP THE INSANITY".
Isy ........whatever. shes old. She has no pride. Stop chasing a man that don't want you girl. That has nothing to do with Love, she just don't want to loose to a teenie bopper. Shes just tired, she should go away and rest. Or just go away.
Amelia and Blanca are still in D.F. talking about her treatments. She still can’t walk. There’s nothing wrong with her legs. It must be something in her mind. Blanca leaves to do some shopping. Left alone, Amelia’s thoughts go right back to Louie the Louse. He’ll be working in her father’s construction company. She wonders what will happen when she sees him. What does she really feel for him? Will she run into his arms?
Jay has taken responsibility for the lax security, allowing Pedro to escape. Fer says the important thing is to find him. They will call José. (Did anyone notice that Paulina instinctively went for her purse to get out a cell phone—but of course Fer doesn’t have one. Jay quickly handed her the office phone.) José then tells Cesar about the escape. He doesn’t hold out much hope for Pedro getting well. Fer tells Jay Pedro may have tried to go home. She and Rosaura head for the burned out shack. Jay stays behind to call the police with a description.
Carlos is a few steps and a few minutes ahead of them. He finds no one at the shack. He can’t decide whether to stay or go when he runs into Lupe and Pedro. Pedro demands to know what he is doing there. Carlos tells him he knows he left the clinic without permission.
Carlos understands Pedro doesn’t want to return to the clinic, but why did he escape? Why is he making things so difficult for Fer? Pedro has his defenses up, way up. He tells Carlos he has no right to interrogate him. So, Carlos asks Lupe what happened. She starts to tell him, but Pedro shuts her up. Carlos pleads. He’s Pedro’s doctor. He wants Pedro to calm down. Instead, Pedro takes off. Lupe is angry at Carlos. He was calm and in his right mind until Carlos started in on him. Carlos takes off after Pedro letting Lupe know that the situation was created by Jay’s carelessness with his patients.
Lucero gets nowhere with mamá. She tells her she and Diego are still in love and they want to get married. Mamá says no way is she going to let that predator marry her baby. Later Diego and Lucero discuss the aftermath of her talk with her mother. Lucero doesn’t care whether she has her mother’s approval or not. She’s ready to run away and get married in secret. There are tears in her eyes. She doesn’t seem too happy about an impending wedding.
Rosaura and Fernanda reach the shack. They see Lupe. Before she can say much to them, Carlos returns. He couldn’t catch Pedro. Fer understands why he ran when Carlos told him he wanted Pedro to go back to the clinic. She wishes he could have let her handle it. Fer goes looking for him and finds Pedro sitting at the edge of a field. He promises never to escape again, because he’s not going back. He’s not crazy. And, she’s not going to work in that house again. Never again is she to step foot in that house. Fer says he’s not well. Pedro says he is. He suspects it was Carlos who convinced her he was crazy and needed to be put away. He escaped because he doesn’t belong there. He needs to be here, with Fer, his plants, his work, his house, so she can continue her studies and doesn’t have to work any more to sustain him. Fer suggests they go back to the house to talk. Pedro doesn’t want to. He wants to be alone with her. Too many people around the house. Just like the clinic, always people around watching, and Carlos there after her, harassing her. He wants things the way they were before, just Fer and him. She persuades him to go back to the house. She’ll tell the people to leave.
Mariana shares her idea for pinning the robbery on the bastard. Hernán laughs at her, just as Luis did. If the police are called in to investigate, they will probably find her fingerprints since she most likely didn’t wear gloves when he left her alone in the office. Chick’s caught and she knows it. So she comes forth with her other plan—to get rid of the girl. [Mariana and Hernán hardly ever use Fernanda’s name, preferring to call her the hija bastarda. This term has been discussed on another novela and apparently doesn’t have quite the same pejorative meaning it does in English, even though when it comes from Mariana and Hernán it’s meant to disparage. So, I’m arbitrarily deciding to use “girl” whenever they refer to Fernanda not by name.]
Hernán calls her a psychopath. Mariana sets the scene for him if they don’t get rid of her. Amelia will be back any minute. She, the girl and Luis will form a happy family and they get left out in the cold. Mariana refuses to let the existence of the girl make her lose the inheritance she’s worked so hard to get. It cost her to get that will changed. Hernán still thinks she’s crazy. It’s one thing to plan crimes, another thing to plan murder. Mariana says he has no idea what she’s capable of. Hermy replies that yes, he does.
Fer sends Lupe away. Carlos won’t leave. He’ll stay near. Pedro is going through some difficult moments. Rosaura convinces her it will be ok. Meanwhile, José has snuck up from the other side of the shack and greets Pedro. They start to talk. José tells him if he’s not loco, he’s certainly acting loco. How did he expect people to treat him. He escaped in his Karate Kid Whites. Pedro says he had to leave in order to save Fer from the danger she’s in working in that house. He doesn’t care if it seems he’s crazy and he has to spend the rest of his life shut up. If they knew the truth, they’d know he was right. José urges him to spill those frijoles that are causing him to act this way. Pedro answers, never. He doesn’t want to lose his daughter by telling the secret he’s maintained all this time. He asserts that the secret will go to the grave with him.
Fer and Pedro are now alone, inside, talking. Fer wants them to talk about him, her and her job. He stiffens. Fer tells him, rightfully, that she’s not a child any more. There are plenty of young women who work to help their families and continue with their studies. She wants to help so he can get well. Pedro insists he’s not loco. Fer says she knows that, but he’s not well-well. Otherwise he wouldn’t have escaped wearing only the hospital gown. Pedro retorts, and what does he find when he gets here? Carlos waiting for her. Fer corrects him. Carlos was here looking for him. He’s the doctor. Pedro isn’t listening. He can’t believe Fer has forgiven him for what he did. Fer says this conversation is about him, not Carlos. Pedro says the conversation is about her. He does not want her working in that house for a sick old man. That’s not what her education was for. They are at an impasse.
Rosaura calls Jay to tell him Pedro has been found. She and Carlos will wait for him. Carlos thinks Jay’s therapy was a failure. When Jay shows up, he’s told Fer is in talking to Pedro. Carlos goads him, pointing out the carelessness with his patients allows them to just walk out right under his nose. Jay doesn’t take the bait. He turns away to tend to his patient. Once inside, Pedro is calm but adamant about not wanting to go back. They finally reach an agreement. Jay says if Pedro returns, goes to group therapy, he can leave the premises twice a week. Pedro wants one more condition—that Fer never returns to that house. Fer looks at Jay, then at Pedro.
Lupe finishes telling Iggy what went down with Pedro. He tells her to finish up work and go see them. He’s going to go by Luis’ office to make sure he’s cleared out. Iggy enters Luis’ empty office and sees all the boxes. He finds two important documents in one open box. One is a bill from Lozórsano to locate Amelia Altamirano de Perez and the other is for a last will and testament for Don Fernando. Again, he thinks, the name of Amelia linked to Luis. What do they have to do with each other? He takes both documents.
As Pedro leaves the shack, he tells Carlos that Fer is no longer going to work for his patient. That ends. Just as his relationship with Fernanda is over. Carlos is told to stay away from his daughter. Fer tells Carlos not to pay attention to him. She tells Pedro that now he’s gone too far. After they leave, Carlos turns to Rosaura and wonders why Pedro hates him so much. Poor Carlos still thinks it stems from his having hurt Fernanda. He’s sorry about that. He wonders if it’s something much bigger. He’s going to find out what it could be.
Next morning Fer arrives at the hacienda to care for Don Fer. Camila is still not speaking to her. Carmela takes her to Don Fer, who’s been waiting for her. Cam flounces off to see her father. She asks Hermy to fire Fer and run her off the property right then. Cam explains why she wants Fer out of the house. She’s a two-faced hypocrite. While she pretended to be her friend, she was seeing Carlos behind her back. They even became novios. Hermy jumps in. Does she mean Fer came between Carlos and Camila? That’s something he will not permit. He stalks out only to come face to face with Amelia, who rolled back in early. Hermy leaves like he’s seen a ghost, while the real ghost is going to be Amelia’s daughter. Mariana sees Hermy is in a snit. He tells her Amelia is back and about to see her daughter any minute. Mariana goes out to save her day. Amelia would rather talk to her later. Right now she wants to see her father. Mariana says it’s not possible. He’s sleeping. Mariana insists on taking Amelia out to the garden to talk about a sisterly trip to Europe. They’d have lots of fun. She is briefly distracted by a figure in a sweater entering the house.
Don Fer and Fernanda start calling each other TOCAYO. It means namesake. It’s cute. Don Fer tells her he heard about what happened yesterday from Carlos. He has great affection for Carlos and doesn’t like to see him suffer. He spoke about Fer a lot. He has noted how much Carlos adores her. He wants to know why they can’t get back together, since they are so much in love. Don Fer knows about the deception and Carlos knows he committed an error, but she’s committing an error, too, by not forgiving him. Fer says their relationship has been fraught with problems since they first started seeing each other. First it was her mother, then her father, now Camila. Don Fer says what happened with Camila is not Carlos’ fault. (Touché, tocayo.)
Jay tries to persuade Pedro to start telling him what is bothering him. Jay knows he had an unhappy marriage. As the story comes out, Jay can’t understand how it was they had a daughter if Amelia never loved him, never kissed him nor had relations with him. (Of course, Jay knows how they had a daughter. Fer told him, but he needs Pedro to tell him.) Pedro refuses to share details of his intimate life. Jay can’t convince him that what Pedro tells him is in strictest confidence. Pedro says, well, maybe later. He says if he tells his secrets, it’s as if he were left naked. That’s a good analogy. If he thinks of the burdens as heavy clothing, shedding them, one by one, he’ll feel better. By keeping secrets he fails Fernanda and he fails himself. He puts a caring hand on Pedro’s shoulders. Pedro crumples. It’s not fair. It’s not fair what is happening to Fernanda. He asks to leave. Jay is left to ponder.
The two tocayos have spent most of the day talking and having a good time doing so. Blanca knocks on the door. They are back. She tells Don Fer his daughter is out in the garden with her sister. Don Fer is happy to have both his daughters back together. Don Fer starts to introduce the two women, but Blanca and Fer know each other. Blanca asks to be reminded of her name. She states she is Fernanda Perez.
Pedro is outside on the clinic grounds thinking of his dilemma. If he tells Jay his secret, he will know Fer is not his daughter. Adelina asks if she can join him. He’s glad to have someone to talk to. She guesses he didn’t want to reveal any secrets to his doctor. Sometimes it’s good to unburden oneself. Adelina tells about her relapse. She’s afraid she’s going to die trying to get well. Pedro says he won’t let that happen. Ade says no one can help her. Not Pedro, no one. No one can help Pedro, either, because down deep inside they don’t want any help. In reality, they are punishing themselves. That’s BIG! As it is, neither of them will ever leave this place. Well, Ade might, in a coffin, but Pedro will stay, keeping his secrets for ever.
Blanca is musing on the similarity of the names. It can’t be Amelia’s daughter. She is dead. Not only Mariana said so, the nun confirmed it. Perez is a common name. She knows Mariana is a jealous sort, but surely not perverse enough to invent something like her daughter’s death.
"Chick’s caught and she knows it"
"There’s nothing wrong with her legs" Of course there isn't, Amelia has always demanded she be treated like a princess and now she's in the castle why should her slippers ever touch that dirty ole ground.
I feel so sorry for Adelina she's truly struggling as opposed to Pedro's self imposed baby daddy obsession
I'm glad Fernanda didn't listen to Pedro and marched right over to old Fernando's house.
Of all the things Fernando and Fernanda could speak of and bond over it's a stretch the number one topic is his insistence she patch things up with Carlos.
Carlos better get her young. At a point in the not so distant future, as Fernanda flies, she would not be so impressed with the country doc.
Hernan and Mariana are so cute during a spat
"Hermy leaves like he’s seen a ghost, while the real ghost is going to be Amelia’s daughter" and "Don Fer says what happened with Camila is not Carlos’ fault. (Touché, tocayo)" were among many favorites.
tofie, like you, my heart went out to Ade. "As it is, neither of them will ever leave this place. Well, Ade might, in a coffin, but Pedro will stay, keeping his secrets for ever". What a sweet girl. I'm a bit perturbed. Is Dr. Jav helping anyone? Really, this sweet young woman should be a top priority. Her physical state as well as her fragile mental state demand it.
"Pedro says, well, maybe later. He says if he tells his secrets, it’s as if he were left naked. That’s a good analogy. If he thinks of the burdens as heavy clothing, shedding them, one by one, he’ll feel better. By keeping secrets he fails Fernanda and he fails himself". Sage words. I know Pedro is hurting but he does not want to change. He chooses not to see reason where Fernanda is concerned. He must get over his obsession with Luis. Surely he must realize that Fernanda will always be her child. He is the only one she considers will ever be her father. tofie, I also chuckled that Fernanda is now doing what she wants and not heeding her father's angry, irrational demands.
I so enjoy reading things I missed or did not know. "(Did anyone notice that Paulina instinctively went for her purse to get out a cell phone—but of course Fer doesn’t have one. Jay quickly handed her the office phone.)" No Anita! I wish I had. Also this gem "This term has been discussed on another novela and apparently doesn’t have quite the same pejorative meaning it does in English, even though when it comes from Mariana and Hernán it’s meant to disparage. So, I’m arbitrarily deciding to use “girl” whenever they refer to Fernanda not by name.]" I love learning new things. Thank you Anita.
"Blanca is musing on the similarity of the names. It can’t be Amelia’s daughter. She is dead. Not only Mariana said so, the nun confirmed it. Perez is a common name. She knows Mariana is a jealous sort, but surely not perverse enough to invent something like her daughter’s death". So happy Blanca is suspicious that something is off. I can't blame her though for everything noted here. It is a common name and while she knows Mariana is terrible, even she doesn't realize the deep vat of hatred Mariana drinks from daily.
I have been wrong about so many things and I was wrong again. Looks like a meeting will occur that I thought would be months off.
Anita, thank you. You've brightened an already glorious day.
Diana
This episode surprised me on several levels. I was not surprised that Carlos took a pot shot at Jay, but I think he has done it enough that some people are starting to wonder if Jay is indeed any good. Show us a list of your cured patients, Jay.
I was surprised that Fer had the maturity and guts to totally ignore Pedro's orders re her job, and probably Carlos.
I wonder what kind of trouble Iggy will be able to stir up with the documents he stole. How ethical is this? Would this fall under the heading of a renter leaving behind trash in an apartment, which the landlord has every right to dispose of or keep as he sees fit?
Don Fer and Fer were delightful together, truly enjoying each other's company. Cam or Hernan or Mariana are going to have a steep uphill battle getting rid of don Fer's new friend.
Mariana is a study in ineffectuality, laying traps for others, then falling into them herself. I love it when she comes up with a plan and gleefully wait for things to come flying apart.
Thanks again, Anita
David
My favorite part was Adelina telling Pedro that they will be in there until death pulls them out of there because they don't want to be helped. It's so true. However, like the rest of you I'm wondering (is anyone getting better?) Jay is probably a good therapist, but his infatuation with Fer (I was going to say obsession, but I don't think it rises to that level just yet) is clouding his professionalism.
It's amazing how everyone seems to call Mariana out on her stupid plans. Her lies are quickly debunked. Her attempts at whatever always fail...or if she succeeds she leaves evidence. She's almost comedy relief (except that's where Paco comes in)
Cami - I feel bad for her because she knows that she lost a long time ago and she's only mad at herself because she didn't want to accept it.
Tofie--Each of your single lines deserve re-reading. This is the one that spoke to me best, "I feel so sorry for Adelina she's truly struggling as opposed to Pedro's self imposed baby daddy obsession." But your comment about Fer not being interested in someone like Carlos a few years down the road was right on target. She's already too good for him. All he's been able to offer is words of undying love and a drop-dead gorgeous face. She's actually been having to work hard to keep her whole world afloat. And as Nina said, it's a wonder she's not the one in a straight-jacket.
Diana--The quote you picked is actually from both men talking. I realize now it wasn't clear who was speaking. Here it is re-constituted:
"Pedro says, well, maybe later [he'll share his secrets]. He says if he tells his secrets, it’s as if he were left naked. [Me: That’s a good analogy.] Dr. Javier says if he thinks of his burdens as heavy clothing, shedding them, one by one, he’ll feel better. By keeping secrets he fails Fernanda and he fails himself."
I forget in which telenovela the word bastarda was discussed. There seem to be at least two categories that I remember. One where the child is born to a single mother and no father steps forward to recognize it. That child would be a bastard and only carry the mother's name. (Hmmm. I seem to think now that it was on YoNo.) An hijo(a) bastardo(a) is one born to a single mother but a male steps forward to acknowledge paternity, even though he might not be the putative father (sort of like Belen's baby being recognized by Alfredo on Hotel). This gives the child the normal two last names and the right to legally claim an inheritance or share in an inheritance.
Fernanda thinks, well up until her mother told her, that she was the biological daughter of a married couple. Now she is an hija bastarda, even though Pedro and Amelia were married at the time of her birth. Fer was probably born 7-8 months after they got married. He recognized her and registered her as his right away. You can recognize a child years after, too, like Romulo recognized Andres in Hotel as an adult, and willed him the hotel.
Loved your imagery, Diana, "It is a common name and while she knows Mariana is terrible, even she [Blanca] doesn't realize the deep vat of hatred Mariana drinks from daily."
Yes, it looks like there might be a meeting. Once that happens, all sorts of other things will happen, domino style. What will Pedro's reaction be, I wonder.
David--I'm with you here, "Show us a list of your cured patients, Jay." Of course, we have to recognize that a psychiatrist's work is not like surgery. It takes a long time and Pedro and Adelina have only been there a short time. As I recall Carlos and Dr. Macias originally spoke about Jay as having been recently named as director of psychiatry at their town hospital. We've only seen him out at the psychiatric clinic. That is a huge place. Surely there are other psychiatrists on staff.
Is anyone else curious as to what Dr. Carlos' specialty is? When we first met him, he had just finished his specialty training. Why is he still a GP at the hospital? Whatever happened to the PARTY Marissa was planning to celebrate the completion of his training? That was why she hired Pedro. (Although what we saw of his landscaping talent amounted to moving the same potted plants around behind the hedges, but I'll accept it for illusion's sake. Darn, I'm getting so jaded in my adage.)
As to Cam, I agree. She had her head in the clouds when it came to Carlos. Every little gesture of friendship he showed her, she blew up into some grand amor. If she had been more perceptive along the way, she would have realized he wasn't that into her.
Both she and Hernan saw how they were dancing at her graduation. He paid no attention to Cam except when Hermy forced the two of them to dance together. He sat next to Fer the whole time, too.
Her daddy is going to cause trouble because Cam did not set the record straight that there was no Cam-Carlos relationship for Fer to get between.
Romy
I remember asking someone because Nina kept calling Miguel a bastard. I asked something along the lines of 'didn't Art marry Miguel's mom?' So an entire discussion happened as a result of that question. I didn't think he was considered a bastard because they married prior to his birth and my thoughts were that she called him that because she knows he wasn't conceived after marriage or something like that...who knows. A description was given, I read it, and I put it in the 'don't really remember the answer' files in my head.
Now pedro, he gettin on my last nerve. I agree with his friend, "you're not loco, but you acting loco" stop it!! And as for the secret, thats nothing to be ashamed of, he was a man and stepped up the way a real father is suppose to. He married a woman who treated him like crap for 19 years and he raised her child loved her child nurtured her child, gave her child values that most kids don't get with two parents, he has nothing to be ashamed of. I am proud of him, but he is getting on my last nerve acting like a crazy person. He need to cut it out. Hes so burdened down. He need to do what jay said, take off those heavey clothes. "Free your mind". Cuz stuff is about to happen now.
I was watching when iggy went into that office and I was so glad he looked through that box and found those documents. Looked like stuff louy wasn't supposed to have anyway.
Cami with her little snooty self, who does she think she is throwing somebody out of their house and going to her cowardly daddy to get him to do it. I know she don't know who fer Is but still that's not even her house, or her money crubbin daddys. And blamin fernanda for coming between her and Carlos, he don't want nothin to do with her little snooty but.
Thank you Anita for what you said about the typos, you're a sweet lady. One more thing, pedro don't want to talk about his intimate life, he never had one. Poor man slept on the floor from honeymoon nite to fer's high school graduation. No intimacey to speak of. Thats just sad. Hes right it's not fair.
And Romy--thank you for your input. I think you also added something to the PyP discussion.
Nina--You are always coming up with some excellent points. Regarding Pedro and his "secret." I wish he could read your comment about what he did do for Amelia and Fernanda. Remember when Amelia gave birth she didn't want the child? She wanted her given up for adoption and Pedro nixed it. I have a feeling they would never have gotten married if it had not been for Sister Rosaura telling them they could only live on the property and have the gardener's job if they got married. If they had gone anywhere else, my bet is on Amelia not wanting to marry Pedro and successfully giving the child away for adoption and leaving Pedro. Ah well, in that scenario--no Camino, no Carlos. I guess we have to be thankful for some things, no?
This was one powerful episode. There was so much significant dialog, I can't possibly do it justice over the next 4 hours. I'm already beat. Let me put up a framework of the episode, then I'll fill in with the important conversations tomorrow.
Carlos came through for Fer, I was glad to see.
Mariana didn't hide her sadistic, malicious nature did she?
Cami is just pitiful. And her greedy daddy, why don't he open a savings account or get on ssi so he'll have something to retire on and stop pimpin out his silly child on uninterested men (carlos). So glad he(carlos) stepped to help fer. Somebody help this girl.
Carlos and Camila meet in the living room of the hacienda.
Camila tells Carlos she wants Fer out of the house.
Carlos tells her she’d be making a huge mistake. He sure when he talks to Don Fer he won’t permit it.
Camila thinks he’s defending a traitor.
Carlos says it wasn’t a betrayal not to tell Camila he and Fer were novios. Fer was trying to spare her feelings. Carlos insisted she tell Camila about them, but Cam wouldn’t listen. They should continue to be friends. She cares about Cam like a sister. It isn’t Fer’s fault Camila believed Carlos felt things for her that he never did. Carlos himself told Cam a thousand times. He was never interested in her, much less in love with her. He feels Camila should assume some of the responsibility for the situation they are in. The anger and humiliation she feels now is not toward Fernanda, it’s toward Carlos, because he could not love her in return. The two shouldn’t lose such a strong friendship over this. Fer needs her.
Camila has not heard a word he said. She insists Fer should have told her. For that she’s a traitor. She goes outside to sulk.
Outside, Hernán sees Camila and asks her what’s wrong. She wants to know if he’s fired Fer yet. He wants to know what the hurry is. Cam tells him that Fer turned Carlos against her. Now he doesn’t even like her. Hermy says nobody hurts his daughter. He’s off to fire Fer.
Carlos and Fernanda meet in the living room of the hacienda.
Fer arrives for tocayo duty. Carlos greets her.
Fer tells Carlos about Pedro going back to therapy as long as she gives up this job. He still won’t tell her why.
Carlos tells her he hopes Dr. Farias finds a way to help Pedro and he gets well soon. [Note he used his title and surname here, giving him some credence, I guess.]
Carlos tells her it might seem she has no one, but she has him. He loves her with all his heart and wishes she’d come back to him.
Fer asks Carlos what about Isabela
Carlos answers what about Isabela.
Fer says she’s still in his life. After what she told Camila, what else is she to think.
Carlos wonders how he can convince her Isy means nothing to him. He loves Fer. Fer yes is part of his life. What else can he do to show her? He’s so afraid of losing her. Why won’t she believe him?
Fer says she does believe him, but Isy told Javier she was his novia. Isy goes to the hospital, she goes to his house.
Carlos repeats, Fer is his life, only Fer.
They kiss, gently, sweetly. He says he loves her and they kiss again.
Hernán meets Carlos and Fernanda in the living room of the hacienda.
Poor Camila. It’s Hernán’s delusion that Cam is having illusions of a relationship with Carlos. He’s been fanning huge flames, all for the love of Carlos’ family fortune. He wants Cam to have it (for him) and can’t understand why she can’t win Carlos’ affections (and his money). He’s convinced himself that the girl is not going to get in the way of Mis Planes. [Nina: thanks for calling it by what it is--pimping out his daughter.]
He turns and sees Carlos and Fer as Carlos asks her does that kiss mean he’s forgiven, that she loves him? Before she can answer, Hermy goes after Fer saying how dare she bring her novio into the house. She’s fired.
Fer stands her ground.
Hermy manhandles Fer.
Carlos comes to her defense.
There’s some pushing and shoving and Carlos ends up falling backwards onto the couch.
At that very moment, Amelia rolls into the room and stares at what she sees.
Nina - im with you on this one Amelia totally punked out. She was in tears and noe she doesnt even have a wheelchair? But I'll wait for Anita to finish her recap. I think my workday is a little more tamed tomorrow, so i should be able to read and comment at the same time and not forget the stuff i wanted to highlight (like, yes i did notice Fer reach to her purse for her phone) didnt her Aunt give her one? Anyway, i managed to stay awake nowim going to sleep.
Don Fer is resting, Blanca is with him. She hears Amelia say loudly, Luisa Fernanda, mi hija. Blanca comes out quickly. She joins the other who are gathering, Mariana and Camila join Amelia, Hernán, Fer and Carlos. Don Fer hears the voices and starts to get up. Blanca hears something break and rushes back to his room. She won’t let him see what’s going on.
Fer and Amelia have an emotional confrontation. It's not pretty. She lets Amelia know how she really feels about her. This woman, her mother, she tells everyone in the room, is full of resentment because she never forgave Fer for being born. She tells Amelia she belongs here, she’s just like the rest of them.
Don Fer comes out. Amelia says there is his granddaughter and he mistakes Camila for his granddaughter because the two are standing together. He collapses and Blanca and Carlos help him back to his room. Don Fer tells Carlos he’s convinced Camila is his granddaughter.
On the clinic grounds, Jay and Carlos talk. Just as they get to the delicate subject of how he and Amelia could have had Fernanda, they are interrupted by José, Lupe, Cesar and a bunch of potted plants. Cesar tells Pedro all his plans about getting married and reminding Pedro he’s to be the padrino.
Mariana screams at Amelia while everyone watches. Hernán jumps in mentioning the gardener with disparaging remarks regarding Fer’s paternity and the real miscreant. Fer defends her father. Blanca does, too. Blanca keeps Fer from leaving. Hermy makes a mental note—he has a new idea, let Don Fer continue to think Camila is really his granddaughter.
Fer says she doesn’t want to be there any longer. Carlos stands by her. Now she understands why Pedro didn’t want her working there. Amelia finds out Pedro is alive. She knows Mariana lied to her.
Marissa comes to see Jay. She wants to know when she’ll be able to overcome this pain. Jay tells her it’s called loss. If she can’t overcome it, she will learn to live with it. Marissa is scared she’ll be trapped in the past. Jay tells her she’s young, attractive, a good person and she’ll be able to start over, even fall in love again. [I wonder if he picked up any signals before Marissa is even aware of her feelings for Pedro.]
Blanca again begs Fer not to go, not before talking to her mother. She has suffered greatly. Fer says they suffered for 19 years, isn’t that so, mother? She may not be back the next day. She has to think about it. Amelia tells Mariana it’s her fault she lost her daughter. Fer hears that and tells her no, she lost her daughter after what she said to her and Pedro in the hospital. Now she and Pedro are dead to her.
Fer marches herself out of the hacienda. Carlos follows. He can’t keep up with her, so he gets in his car. He finally gets her to stop. She admits she can’t live without him. He says he won’t fail her. She doesn’t know what to do. She conflicted by her affection for Don Fernando and her father’s dictum and his desire to protect her. Carlos suggests treating him as a sick old man and she’s taking care of him, not as someone she has affection for. He tells her she can avoid Mariana and ignore her mother.
Amelia demands of Mariana to tell her why she was told her family was dead. Without looking at her, she tells her it was the truth. Amelia doesn’t believe her. Well, says Mariana, it’s what she was told. The conversation deteriorates to threats on Fer’s life and Pedro’s if Mariana doesn’t get the inheritance. Amelia doesn’t believe she could go through with it. Well, says Mariana, who does she think started the fire that was supposed to burn up Pedro and Fer? She continues in the same vein. If Luis hears about Fer from Amelia, or she tells their father Fer is his granddaughter, she will make sure they die. Don Fer will die of depression and Pedro and Fer will die by her own hand. The hold them up for Amelia to see.
Fer has gone to see her madrina, Sister Rosaura. She tells her everything. She doesn’t think she can forgive her mother. [I kind of think Rosaura is in full agreement.] Fer wants to know one thing. Does Pedro know Fer is not his daughter? Rosaura doesn’t want to tell her, but does. Yes, he always knew.
Carlos and Paco have a mini-race car race around a track. Carlos lets him win. Paco knows he did and wants to know why. A father does everything for his son. He’s Paco’s father now. They go around the track again.
Fer goes to see Javier. He wants to know about Pedro and Amelia’s marriage. It’s important to know so he can help him. Pedro told him they never had relations. Fer is stunned. [I’m not sure if she’s stunned that Jay brought it up or she didn’t know it’s a fact.]
Note: I left out most of the dialog during the mother-daughter confrontation in the living room. That's what I'll expand tomorrow. Good night everyone!
"It’s Hernán’s delusion that Cam is having illusions of a relationship with Carlos" and "...they are interrupted by José, Lupe, Cesar and a bunch of potted plants" were among many favorites.
"This woman, her mother, she tells everyone in the room, is full of resentment because she never forgave Fer for being born. She tells Amelia she belongs here, she’s just like the rest of them" and "Fer hears that and tells her no, she lost her daughter after what she said to her and Pedro in the hospital. Now she and Pedro are dead to her" were heartbreaking. Raw pain emanating from the deepest emotional cuts. Those of a loving child being rejected by her mother.
"Hermy makes a mental note—he has a new idea, let Don Fer continue to think Camila is really his granddaughter". How frustrating when the truth is standing there, literally in the flesh, a case of mistaken identity manages to come into play!
"[I wonder if he picked up any signals before Marissa is even aware of her feelings for Pedro.]" Hmmm. Perhaps I’ve been a bit hasty in judging Jav.
Conversely, “Carlos suggests treating him as a sick old man and she’s taking care of him, not as someone she has affection for. He tells her she can avoid Mariana and ignore her mother”. That’s it Carlos. Pretend they don’t exist. What on earth are you talking about?
“If Luis hears about Fer from Amelia, or she tells their father Fer is his granddaughter, she will make sure they die. Don Fer will die of depression and Pedro and Fer will die by her own hand. The hold them up for Amelia to see”. Now, Amelia has been despicable, but not even she deserves this. Mariana is Lucifer.
Anita, thank you for fleshing out all the details so well, which were fairly excruciating.
I cannot wait to read more of what transpired between Amelia and Fer.
Pedro needs to get well and quickly. His daughter needs him and he needs to be there for her.
Diana
"...she never forgave Fer for being born." Oh, my, that sentiment, although no longer true, must cut Fer to the bone, especially now that she now sees the family dynamic from which it springs. Fer already, out of self preservation, OFFERED her affections to her cold fish mother, who always rebuffed her, but GAVE her affections to the man who had always been there for her, Pedro.
Mariana has descended into new levels of sociopathy, and Hernan isn't that far behind.
I am always fascinated with how "bastards" are treated in these tns. To hold this, an accident of birth, as the overwhelming determinant of a person's worth cries against all logic, and thus is a great tn plot device. Yeah, Fer graduated at the top of her high school class, and yeah, she qualified for a scholarship, and yeah, she is a gifted violinist, and yeah she is a loving and lovable person, BUT she is a BASTARD!!! Yuck.
I was not at all on Pedro's side when he tried to keep Fer from returning to work with don Fer, but after seeing the family dynamics, I am beginning to empathize with his viewpoint, however, only Mariana, Hernan, and now Camila are really the current problem, and since they can be isolated and dealt with, I have hopes that something will work out.
There was a scene where Blanca was kneeling next to a sleeping don Fer and she thinks, you used to be so arrogant, and now you are so weak, or something to that effect. Yeah, when he had strength, he misused it, and now that he has seen the light, he hasn't the power to implement it. Sad.
Thanks again, Anita.
David
(I just saw this in an email)
"There comes a time when you have to stop crossing oceans for people who wouldn't jump a puddle for you."
David
Thank you.
Diana
Diana--Don't be too hard on Carlos. There was more to that exchange. He made sense. I'll highlight it for you.
David--Your comment distinguishing OFFERED and GAVE was heart-wrenching for me.
I think that was my favorite episode to date. Also, the fact that it didn't come in the final chapters made it better. Where do they go from here? I know others don't know, but the way things unfold here - it's bound to happen especially with Blanca around. How does Mariana expect Blanca to keep her mouth shut - because she will not!
That damn Dr. Farias. Just when I wanted to give him some credence he goes and breaks a confidence of his patient. WTF???!!! It would be different if he just asked general how did she see their marriage...loving, hostile, etc. But no! Your dad said he and your mom never had sex - maybe she would have realized that she never saw them kiss and I know that hut was small so maybe as a teen you might hear noises (ugh! flashback) but how would she know unless she walked in on it happening.
That was the ultimate in unprofessional.
Fer cutting her mom down was the highlight of my night. So many truths in that...don't blame your sister blame yourself. I don't want yall nasty to get on me.
Anita, your recap helped me relive that awesome episode, thanks! I think I deleted it, but I need to watch it again.
"they are interrupted by José, Lupe, Cesar and a bunch of potted plants"
I was crying my eyes out when Fernanda learned from Rosaura Pedro knew he wasn't the bio dad and her montage of love from the man that raised her and whom she feels gave her life. Then I get a cutaway of two boys speeding around a go cart track. Am I to believe Carlos, by adopting an urchin playmate, somehow makes him Pedro's equivalent? If so it failed miserably. All it did was confirm my suspicion Carlos is no more than a pampered manchild.
So everyone can scream all kinds of barbs and flush Fernando out of his room, yet no one can correct the old man's mistake. How about. No not that one the one on the right that shares your name.
Amelia just cannot accept personal responsibility can she?
Ana Patricia Rojo is rockin it. I marvel. I loved her expression when Mariana showed Amelia the hands that would do the killin.
As so much was revealed, where do things go from here?
I don't know but can't wait to find out.
tofie, you nailed it on Patricia "I loved her expression when Mariana showed Amelia the hands that would do the killin". Maniacal and monstrous. Exuding all that pure hatred must be exhausting. I bet the actress has no problem sleeping nights.
Diana
Indeed it was a powerful episode. Pivotal, too. I would be happy if it ended with Luis, Mariana and Hermy getting their collective butts kicked to the curb, Marissa and Pedro start out slowly to build a beautiful, solid relationship, Carlos and Fernanda become a happier couple and Don Fer lives to see some great-grandchildren and Blanca can be a nanny again. As for Amelia? I'm sort of with Fer right now. I can get along just fine without her, as long as I have Pedro.
I have to agree the highlight of the ep after Carlos/Fer made up with sweet longing kisses; was Fer dragging her mother for the bitter hateful woman she has been for the past nineteen years. That Fer did it in front of Amelia's family made it all the sweeter. How heartbreaking to hear Fer tell her mother that she knew being born was her great sin. Her existence was the barrier to her mother's 'happiness'. The scenes were well written an well played by PG.
To add insult to be una bastarda, she had to endure Don Fer, her own grandfather assuming that Camilla who is obviously more groomed and manicured in appearance is his beloved granddaughter. It didn't even occur to him to consider Fer. The poor girl, why would she want to admit to the old man that she has grown fond of that she and not the preferred Camila is his grand daughter.
Fer will cling to her papito even more now, knowing what he sacrificed and endured to be her father. As she said her mother gave birth to her but her father, Pedro gave her life. What a beautiful touching sentiment.
The juxtaposition then of Carlos who is also throwing his heart and soul into a child that is not even his, was profound. Carlos is not that different from Pedro. Both wonderful men with huge hearts and much love to give.
A lovely episode and great recap Anita!
