Yago #6. Monday May 9, 2016. Discussion Page + Highlights By Julie And Vivi.

Hello Patio Pals! We’ll have to make do with a discussion page until a volunteer takes over this recapping spot.

Two of our Patio regulars kindly contributed this impromptu recap. Many thanks to both!

Highlights by Julie:

Katia gets her hands on Ambar's medical records and Yago finds out that Ambar was admitted to the hospital just days before (or after?) the heist and questions if it's a coincidence. (duh)

Sara recalls that the hospital threatened to kick Ambar out because Sara's account was NSF. Turns out Sara's father kept her share as well as his own because his own welfare was more important to him than Ambar's. Lucio offered to pay Ambar's hospital bill himself.

Sara tells Yago that there are only two people she's loved in her life: Ambar and this other man in her past who isn't Lucio and she feels badly for betraying him.

Abel visits the man who spoke to Bruno earlier and scares the hell out of him and uses his pliers to, I think, pull out one of his fingernails or maybe actually crush his fingers, I couldn't tell. That's not a nice way to use pliers! The guy moves out overnight, so isn't around for Bruno's follow-up visit.

Sara is pissed off that Lucio took out that gigantic loan without her consent and threatens to leave him - but she can't, because he has a tape recording from a years-ago similar conversation where she mentions that they both participated in the casino heist and Omar didn't. If she leaves him, he'll turn her in. Never mind that he'll be turning himself as well - he's cool with going to prison as long as she's going too. (Uh, he gets that they don't have bridal suites at the prison, right?)

Omar's mom gets a call from the psychic, who says Omar is in danger and the only guy who can track her down is an out-of-town shaman. Melina hocks her ring for bus fare. The shaman gives her an herbal drink. She flips out (I don't understand what she sees in her "vision") and takes off, yelling "it's a lie! It's a lie!" She wanders around blindly in the street and gets hit by a car.

Highlights by Vivi:

Sara did say, aside from Matias, there are two people she has loved...So she includes her son.

Lucio, in flashback, offered to pay for Ambar's medical care, and then immediately asked Sara to marry him. It was implied that one couldn't happen without the other.

We get voice-over of Ambar's thoughts as she thinks about how Sara has always had to sacrifice for her. She remembers as a little girl overhearing Sara cry and argue with their dad about setting Omar up, and him pointing out Ambar's illness. Ambar doesn't want her sister to do something she doesn't want to do. That extends later to marrying Lucio (whom we learn Ambar never warmed to). Girl Ambar asks Sara on her wedding day not to wed Lucio, but Sara shares a secret with her-- she's pregnant. (It's seeming more and more that she passed Omar's baby off on Lucio.)

Oh, and after the ex-police guy disappears, Bruno again tells Lucio about it, and that his suspicions have grown. Oy! Lucio lies to Bruno that he's going to tell him the "truth." He always knew Omar committed the robbery and murder, and has video proof! He gives Bruno a flash drive that shows Omar in the casino vault, time stamped the day of the robbery. Bruno, in despair, watches the video with his girlfriend. Then he realizes something. The sweater Omar is wearing in the video, supposedly the day of the robbery, is was ruined and burned BEFORE the robbery took place. They realize that someone doctored the video and fiddled with the time stamp!

Melina's vision: She remembers the days leading up to the robbery. Omar and Sara having dinner with them happily. Giving Omar the ring when he tells her he's going to ask Sara to marry him. Then she has a vision of things that didn't happen. She's walking through the flaming hallways of the prison. She finds Omar, curled up in fetal position in the cell (never showing his face). She takes him in her arms, and he tells her over and over that "it's a lie." Despite being drugged with what the shaman gave her to drink, she has a moment of clarity realizing it's all a lie, and leaves immediately, wandering into the street and traffic. Now, "it's a lie" can refer to a lot of things. It's a lie that Omar committed the crimes. It's a lie that Omar is dead. And it's a lie that the medium and the shaman can help her communicate with Omar.

Thank you for the pleasure of your company. Please join us again for the next capítulo. We’ll be saving you a seat!

Thank you for stopping by over the weekend. Much appreciated, indeed.

Enjoy the discussion! :)

Thanks, Nandicta. What are the unclaimed nights? I can take Tuesdays after Hotel ends.

What do I remember from last night... ah yes...

Katia gets her hands on Ambar's medical records and Yago finds out that Ambar was admitted to the hospital just days before (or after?) the heist and questions if it's a coincidence. (duh)

What else?

Wait, wait! Mondays. I read the schedule wrong and I don't even know what day it is, apparently. I can do MONDAYS when Hotel ends. (Tuesday is not impossible, but it's already taken and Mondays are better for me anyway.)

Honestly, I'm amazed that people aren't lined up around the corner to recap this one. It's short, and it's GOOD.

Julie- Fantastic on the fly recap. You hit all the big events.

Sara did say, aside from Matias, there are two people she has loved...So she includes her son.

Lucio, in flashback, offered to pay for Ambar's medical care, and then immediately asked Sara to marry him. It was implied that one couldn't happen without the other.

She finds Omar, curled up in fetal position in the cell (never showing his face). oh, "she feels bad for portraying him" I meant for betraying Omar. She'd be happy to betray Lucio, I think.

And I forgot, right, she loves Matias. Ooops. That's important!

And so is the rest of the stuff. Especially the video, and Ambar's memories. Poor Ambar, knowing that stuff was happening because of her. And poor Bruno - he has no idea that he's confiding in the devil.

Thanks Julie and Vivi you got it all covered.

"That's not a nice way to use pliers!"

No way for Bruno to know Lucio is one of the bad guys but I cringe when he tells all.

So glad Katia is there to bring Yago back to earth and remind him Sara set this thing up. He latches on little things so he can absolve her. Even Sara told her father she could have found another way. She didn't because it was too easy to betray Omar and she got away with it.

We know that Ambar is 28 years old and Matias has to be at least 11-12 years old.

Melina is headed to a manicomio. It's one thing to think your son is alive. It's another to spend up Jonas' advance, family money and pawning your wedding band on psychics.

Gawd, I cannot type today. Even when I do a correction, I have typos. "portrayed" indeed. Gah.

Also, Yago donated blood for Ambar. And Abel got all in his face, yelling at him for pretending to be a "nice guy." Yeah, what an asshole, donating blood to help save a life!

That stuff wasn't happening because of Ambar. If that was the case, their dad wouldn't have taken the money meant for Ambar's treatment for himself. Ambar was only a useful tool to get Sara to grift one more time.

Anon207- But Ambar, especially little girl Ambar, doesn't know that. She's probably carried around that guilt for a long time, thinking that Sara did bad things with their dad, and tied herself into a loveless marriage all to save her life.

Is Ambar and Sara's father still alive? Does he die in one of the flashbacks?

GoBlueFan- We haven't seen him die, but in this episode after Sara realizes he took her cut of the money that was for Ambar's treatment, she exiles him from their lives.

Thanks Julie! And everyone else for filling in the gaps.

The timeline doesn't work for me. If the robbery took place 12 years ago that means Ambar was 16 when she went into the hospital. There is no way the girl playing Ambar is 16, closer to 12. Maybe the casting directors didn't think we would feel as sorry for a girl of 16. Also, at 16 her daddy would have had her pimping herself I'm sure.

So I guess we are all supposed to be softening towards Sara. I admit I am darn it! I don't want to. I would say that maybe her anvil began when she married Lucio but up until last night they seemed to have an affection for each other, meaning he hasn't had to threaten her to stay with him, so she is there willingly. Also, as far as we know, they have done well in business and have had a lot of money (none of which seems to have gone to Omar's family) Is her guilt enough of an anvil? I don't think so. Not at this point.

I think Lucio just overplayed his hand with Sara. Him threatening her with the recorder was the worse thing he could have done. He'll never regain her trust or affection now.

Melina is driving me crazy. I don't like stupid old people. Hope she's not dead though. That would be horrible for her family.

Sara could have cut ties before destroying an innocent life. So it took the imprisonment of the dupe Omar for her to finally have a life changing epiphany? She doesn't seem disturbed about the innocent guard dying or the shame and pain suffered by Omar's family. In her mind fleecing a man in a bar is no different than stealing a Salvation Army bucket if she needs the money. Sara didn't betray Omar for his lunch money. She set him up and lied in court to imprison him for killing a man and stealing the casino cash. That's more than betrayal that is conspiracy.

I have not been watching, but I surfed in just at the end . I was in time to see Ivan Sanchez sporting that metrosexual, over-the-shoulder sweater look that I so despise. Meh My motto regarding sweaters is.. .wear it, or take it off. Make a decision.

Tofie: Sara's still an evil schemer just like Lucio & Abel in my eyes.

I'm going to be celebrating their downfall when Yago destroys them & if I were him, I'd take ALL of their wealth!

Vivi: Of course, someone (most likely Lucio, Sara or Abel) doctored the videotape, which throws a deep wrench in Bruno & his girlfriend's investigative work.

Ha ha Susanlynn, thanks for stopping by with your fashion do's and dont's. He was wearing the sweater earlier but I think he took it off to give blood. So there was a point to him carrying it around. By the way, he looked quite nice in the sweater.

Thanks, all.

Did anyone else get a creep vibe during the flashback scene of Sara and her father? I have been wondering whether there had been anything incestuous in their relationship and Ambar might be the result. It's not like this hasn't happened before.

Abel is on my permanent merde list now.

I agree in the hope that Melina is still alive.

Well, Bruno & Alejandra know the tape was doctored because Omar couldn't have been wearing the sweater he was wearing in the tape because the sweater had been destroyed earlier.

I think Ambar is meant to be seen as small & frail & delicate. She is pushing 30 but looks 20. She was probably 15 going on 16 when the heist went down.

I think the loan sharks will be taking all of Sara & Lucio's wealth.

So what's really wrong with Ámbar? Why would she need all that blood? Brugada Syndrome is not treated with open heart surgery and it didn't appear that she was bleeding. I'm confused.

Carlos

Susanlynn, I'm with you on the sweater thing. Don't grab a sweater unless you mean business. Of course you can carry it around, but never ever wear it over the shoulders like that. It's just... so... I don't know. I don't like it.

Urban, I didn't get that vibe at all. What I got between Ambar and her father is that she's not interesting to him until she's old enough to be useful.

As far as Sara, she can call it guilt if she wants to, but the bad feeling she has about Omar seems more to me like regret that he's no longer in her life. In other words, it's a bummer for her that he's not around, and whether or not it was a bummer for him too was always of lesser importance. I question her capacity for true remorse.

I'm now happy to see Abel killed off too, but still feel that he's the least of the evils, even if he is the one who does most of the dirty work. They use him as their thug and without them he'd probably be in prison because on his own, I doubt that he could mastermind a picnic.

But I still think Lucio is the worst of the bunch.

Urban- I don't think Sara and Papa had an incestuous relationship. I think it's plenty creepy enough that he treated her more like he was her pimp, than her father.

Carlos- I don't question telenovela medicine anymore. :) Giving blood made Yago look even more like a good guy, and gave him and Sara an opportunity to have a heart to heart. Now, if only Yago had been made to take off his shirt, as well as his sweater, when he gave blood-- THAT would have made it even better! Alas, the writers missed the opportunity.

OH - sorry, I misread that. Incestuous between Sara and her father, no, didn't see that either. I just find him creepy in general.

You knew he was a monster when she came home crying from being raped and he only saw the money she threw at him.

Is it too soon to know how this is doing in Mexico? I will be very, very sad if it's not a hit.

Julie, I wouldn't be surprised if it's not a hit. If I was watching any other TN when this started I wouldn't have tuned in. The subject matter looked gruesome. But I read the recap of the first episode, didn't have anything else to watch and tuned in. I'm glad I did.

Julie- Don't know how it's doing in Mexico, but here's a good review of all the evening tns on Uni and Telemundo currently: http://tinyurl.com/hs8qb72

In the meantime, the Philippine VP contest is still too close to call between Leni Robredo & Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.,

Robredo leading by 230,000 votes.

Thanks Julie and Vivi for the impromptu recap!

If the knowledge that Sara was under family pressures when she (coldly) framed Omar gives Yago some answers then peace, so be it, it's not for me to judge. Sara still needs to answer to the law, she is responsible by association for the unnecessary death of a prison guard, I don't think the police will be sympathetic to her reasons, after the exposé of her cold actions. Also, Sara is beginning an emotional affair with Yago, while she is married to Lucio, her husband, her business partner and father (?) of her only son. She needs to cleanse herself of her grifter tendencies, her bad habits are far, far, far from purged from her soul.

Love our Nancy Drew detectives storyline, always interesting when Bruno and Alejandra are on the screen.

Thanks all: taking a break from a really boring conference call to check in.

Sorry, still not a Sara fan. I get her back story, lord they remind us daily, but something about her willingness to still be manipulative, secretive and the way she came after Yago when her sister had the date, and now she is using this time in the hospital to smooze some more...I don't know how much I buy her being all full of remorse and how much is trying to win over Yago.

Hopefully he has Katia around to keep him reigned in.

Daisynjay

Though I'm not quite ready to jump on board, it may come as no surprise to those who know me that after last night I'm starting to warm toward Sara a bit. I do admire her loyalty and dedication to Ámbar and I'm willing to believe that she is truly remorseful.

I'm disappointed in Katia. It sure didn't take much. Let's face it, Abel is no criminal mastermind.

So that's what he does with those pliers... yikes!

Carlos

Katia will be as disappointed as the rest of us if Yago doesn't go through with his plan against Sara. I wonder what stake she has in this? Is she only being a good friend? Teo too has put himself in danger. I can't wait to see how these 3 came together.

Thank you Julie and Vivi for the recap. I'm finally free to tune in each night but if it were not for you marvelous recappers and commentors, I would not be understanding a thing.

I love Katia's hair and now I get the bouffant reference. However, as witty as all of you are, or unless I missed it, why no mention of Abel's braided mullet? He deserves a big anvil for that look, not to mention his preoccupation with pliers.

Wasn't the shaman Sara and Ambar's father?

LoirLoo- LOL! I think if we started talking about the mullet/rat tail, we'd never stop. Best not to start. :)

No, the shaman wasn't Sara's dad.

Ok, I thought he looked like their father. The shaman was evil enough to be their dad, taking advantage of a blind woman after all. If Melina doesn't die, I hope she wises up.

I will do my best not to mention the braided (and blonde-dyed) mullet again.

Thanks Julie and Vivi. With each episode, every character gets more and more nuanced, fleshed out...either towards the negative or positive. Really enjoying the way the writers are braiding the past and present in contrasting strands so that we see each participant in this drama more clearly.

I hated seeing Omar's mother falling for the con and hate knowing that people like this continue to fleece the credulous and desperate. During all of her scenes, had to keep telling myself "it's just a story, just a story..."

I hope Bruno doesn't tell Lucio that the video was edited. And I hope he starts to suspect Lucio. Otherwise these kids are in danger.

The actor that is playing Bruno, what else have I seen him in? He looks so familiar.

Carvivlie, the actor who plays Bruno played the son of Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones in "The Legend of Zorro".

Vivi in DC, "Yago" is not yet in México, it will be until August.

I like this show very much, but I don't like the way Yago is "melting" for Sara, he needs to remember the way his parents suffer while Sweet Sara was incapable of asumme responsability of her actions.

Thanks tquir. I can't even remember the kid from that movie so I don't think that's it. Maybe I am confusing him with another actor I've seen recently. hmmm

Why pick on the shaman he may have a daughter with Brugada Syndrome and blind lady money spends mighty fine. At least she's not in jail for 60 years, just run over.

Tquir- Do you know why they are waiting so long to show this in Mexico? Wow! We've really reversed roles with Mexico, if they have to wait three months.

These are the ratings per the site Vivi provided, # 1 being best

7- Sueño de amor
6 Eva la trailera
5 Un camino hacia el destino
4 El señor de los cielos 4
3 El hotel de los secretos
2 La esclava blanca
1 Yago

IMO El hotel is best

Ah, so it really is too soon to know how Yago is doing in Mexico. Interesting. It will be done here (or almost done) by the time it begins over there. That might not work in its favor. On the other hand, it's an interesting experiment.

Variopinta- I would too. And I'd put Senor4 at the bottom. And I say that as someone who enjoyed Senor1.

Variopinta- I mean I agree about Hotel being best.

Vivi, months ago I read something like this: in the begining Televisa reserved "Yago" only for BLIM (the new Televisa "kind of Netflix"), suddenly they changed their minds.

I think they need to recover the prime time slot, because with the latest telenovelas, ratings continue dropping.

I expect to explain correctly, english is not my first language.

Tquir, your explanation is perfectly clear. Thank you!

Julie and Vivi- Thank you for summarizing what went down last night. And a special thanks to Nandicta for posting this discussion page.

I'm late to the Patio today, so don't really have anymore to add to what has already been said.

Hope that Melina will make it. We'll find out what happens soon.

Thanks, Julie, Vivi, and everybody for filling in my gaps on what happened last night. Against my will, I did soften toward Sara last night, and the Yago-Sara chemistry is much better than Yago-Ambar. Poor Ambar can't even handle a Yago kiss. Yago (and I) needs to remember that Sara put her needs above his and always will. How different would his blind mom and poor dad be living if Yago had lived free to get his engineering degree? Doubt Sara gives that a thought. She loves Ambar so much but sabotaged the little sis's date.

I'm still NEVER ever going to soften toward Sara EVER.

Does Ambar have cancer relapse again ?

Tofie: Omar's parents still falling for the evil cons from Lucio, Abel & Sara & will continue to get conned until the very end of this show!

I will soften towards Sara if she turns herself in to the police and clears Omar's name.

I won't hold my breath.

Thank you Julie and Vivi for providing such detailed highlights. I took the liberty of adding them to the main body text.

Thank you everyone for stopping by!
