Yago #9. Thursday May 12, 2016. World That Never Was
This recap is brought to you by our recapper and Patio regular, CountxAlacran. Enjoy!

If anyone wonders about the title choice, I took it out of Kingdom Hearts. It’s a world that reminds me of Yago’s mindset and lonely life.
- Repeat of previous scenes (Ambar rejects Yago’s advances, Damian catches Matias looking at the tape, Matias informs Yago about the tape).
- This is mostly a Yago-centric episode. We find out how he was doing after his surgery. We meet a new character, Selma (She is the lover of Fidel, mentor of Yago). Selma helped Yago design his alter ego teaching him of all of the tricks in life, more importantly to throw his original face (physically and mentally) out of the picture. In the present, Yago went to visit Bruno at his house because Bruno was worried about Melina’s rapidly decreasing mental health. Obviously, he had a hard time encountering with family memories, pictures and Omar’s favorite food after so many years. As Yago he had to abandon Omar completely (The directors must be happy to the tears that this show is just fantasy so that Ivan Sanchez cannot sue them for stealing his vocal cords).
- Ambar having refused his advances also rejected his invite to the party back at Yago’s house (The party was arranged by Team Yago to get back the tape). Sara said that maybe Ambar was right to reject Yago since he was a complete stranger. Sara wants Ambar to forget about Yago but Lucio thinks otherwise because the relationship benefits his business. She received a visit from Abel but refused to tells him anything. Later Yago comes with red flowers apologizing to Ambar much to Damian’s happiness. Ambar is told that by Yago that she is beautiful, smart, creative but he does not benefit her. But Ambar does not care because her disease made her cherish the happiness. Yago later by intention ruins Ambar’s dress just so that he can get in Damian’s room resulting in Ambar getting a better one. They later went to the party as Lucio, Sara & Yago celebrated their new union, new beginnings all resulting in a kiss between Yago & Ambar (I swear if Yago hurts Ambar, he will get on my Shit list quickly.)
- Bruno has apologized to Ale deciding to forget about Omar and to focus on his new job. Bruno results to be quite a damn good reporter as praised by Yago. Ale also met Yago telling him that Bruno was once on antidepressants which made Yago feel sad. Ale also points out that Bruno fears women because of what happened to Omar (I want an axe to fall on Bloody Sarah already or she could drown in that pool). Yago also wanted to help Melina out but Bruno rejected his help.
- Melina’s health is getting worse and worse. At the visit she bonded quite well with Yago but couldn’t stop talking about Omar neither in his presence or without. Yago comforted her though. He lamented to Katia that he cannot give his mother a lovely hug. We learned in a flashback that while Yago was mastering at playing cards, speaking Spanish, and wear ties well he couldn’t control his emotions inside as he had to pass by his parents at the funeral (Yago was at front appearing normal but inside his heart was broken once more).
- Abel demanded a new job, something that gives him 3x more salary but in exchange for Abel to keep a closer eye on Yago. Abel later appoints Teo the position of “Chief of Security” because of his friendship. He also made the mistake to speak good about Omar saying that he was the truest and most loyal friend to him. Abel also points out that Lucio has changed a lot from his days. Lucio had forgotten about his friends and whatever they did for his sorry, lazy manipulative Flavio Medina enchanted ass.
- Sara had quite a terrible day. She had to deal with both Damian & Lucio. They both want her money. Damian for his drinking, gambling habits and Lucio for protecting the “family” from loan-sharks . Damian also wanted to join the party but Sara ignored him (Little does she know that Damian is currently holding her at mental gunpoint just like her hubby dearest with modern day technology). The situation get’s worse when drunken Damian at the party was forcing Yago to do business with him. She takes him home but things get worse because Yago managed to steal the tape thus Damian almost abused Matias because he thought Matias hid it somewhere. Luckily Sara & Lucio were chased out of bedtime in time , protecting Matias with all their grasp & fury. Damian wasn’t very pleased that’s for sure because he got chased out of the house!
- Yago watched the tape on his computer in full HD, ravaging inside that Abel was able to do the deed.

Foo, I just found out that Yago will be moving to 10pm when 3xAna begins week after next. If that's true, I may have to renege on my offer to recap Yago. I was really counting on that extra hour to be able to get to bed at a decent time. It makes a big difference!

Melina is depressed, Bruno can't come to work, Yago goes to Bruno & Melina's house. She gets depressed again and excuses herself.
Yago takes Alejandra home, she tells him Bruno has committment issues due to what Sara did to Omar
Later, Melina tells Bruno & Jonas that Yago is the same age Omar would've been

And let me just say that Ambar's first dress must've been Sara's old dress because Sara is at least 1-2 sizes bigger than Ambar. Both women have trim, attractive figures but
Ambar is much thinner than Sara, which would be in keeping with the character being delicate & frail due to her illness.

Countx, I'm going to give it a try. As long as I can do a fast recap, it will be okay. If I find that the recaps are taking longer and longer - as they have with Hotel which admittedly is a different kind of beast altogether - I won't be able to stick with it. But I'd like to, because Yago is really well done and very much worth recapping.

I am wondering why Melina never seeked help before. She is utterly obsessed with Omar. The counseling obviosly did not help, it only furthered her mental state in downward spiral.
In this circus I feel bad the most for Matias and Ambar. Innocents are always the most hurt in vengeance stories. Damian will not be a happy camper.
Atleast Lucio has appreciation for Matias, it's his only redeeming point.

I forgot to mention that I loved how we got an explanation of why Omar picked out the new name "Yago".
Yago seems more like a 10pm novela to me and I think if Tres Veces Ana had been ready to air on time, Univision would've scheduled 3XA to come on right after PyP and Yago to air right after Hotel left. I think that would've been the original plan.

Thanks, Countx: "The directors must be happy to the tears that this show is just fantasy so that Ivan Sanchez cannot sue them for stealing his vocal cords." I was thinking the same thing... I couldn't figure out whether we're supposed to believe that they somehow changed Yomar's voice, or if we're supposed to believe that people (especially Melina) don't recognize it.

Huge score for Team Yago/Omar getting that video. But poor Mateo having to tangle with Damian because of it. The little guy is scrappy though. He looked ready to knock Damian over the head if he had to.

I know it makes Yago uncomfortable to use Ambar but it really makes me uncomfortable for him to use Ambar. Spilling wine on a dress I can live with but if he sleeps with the poor girl and she gets crushed it moves into wicked witch Sara territory.
Wonder what he'll think of Sara if/when Yago learns that everyone but Abel knew beforehand the security guard would die. Will he be in denial Sara knew exactly what happened when she lied on the witness stand?

Abel has quite a few nervous tics..almost like he has Tourette's Syndrome. I wonder what motivates him? He does appear to have a conscience (hated to kill the security guard), but on the other hand, he makes liberal use of his pliers on innocent victims.
Goblue, I believe Abel fears Omar very much to the point that the betrayal scarred him for life. He seemed normal before the robbery.

I think Melina is going to be Yago's downfall. He has everything so planned out but he can't control himself around her very well. And if he tells her who he is she won't be able to keep it concealed. She is an open book. The fact that she is still such a mess 12 years later is bad. I actually think she is being selfish as she is putting Jonas and Bruno through a lot of pain by always bringing Omar up and not trying to move on.
I loved that Yago gave Ambar the "magic" necklace she had as a child from her Mom.

Juju is right. Melina had been doing ok for some time (Ale said so), but something happened recently (Omar's scent on the towel) that set Melina back. By the way, Melina's the one on anti-depressants. I think the recap said it was Bruno.

GoBlueFan- I only see deep friendship between Yago and Katia. I detected some spark between Katia and Teo, but he's making an effort to keep it all business.

Judy B: Yago planning to hurt Ambar ? HOW ? I don't see that happening. What's likely to happen is that Lucio or his cohorts will do something horrible to her.

Just discovered Yago the other day and I have to say I LOVE IT. I have a weakness for Ivan Sanchez and hearing him speak with his born accent - swoosh!!
Oh, how I wish I could recap this with you, guys, but I'm stuck with Sueno de Horror (good one, Nandicta!) and there is no time left for me to actually do another recap.
I'm trying to catch up with watching before actually getting into commenting because I don't want to spoil myself. And I'm also trying to get my husband to watch, which will be tricky, since he despises tns. For now I only told him that this is a Count of Montecristo remake and it's in Spanish... Which is correct, right?
