Sueño de Amor (SdA) #73. Friday June 24, 2016. When Putting The Kibosh On Someone, Stick To The Tried-And-Tested Classics!
¡Ándale, Poison Froggy! I'll give you a million meaty flies if you get him between the eyes! |
At a glance
At Casa Manzanares, Félix drew happy faces with fruit on everyone’s plates, to brighten up their morning, but they are all pulling long faces and refusing to eat, with the exception of Margarita. Silvana sets her head on fire trying to prepare omelets. As previously seen 172 times already, she acts all nicey-nicey while thought-bubbling horrible things about her “treacherous” family. Kristel continues to play the love martyr and asks to be excused. She is wearing a dejected look on her face, which is a slight improvement from her distorted snivelly expression that drives me up the wall. She hasn’t eaten a thing in two days and Margarita worries she might faint. Good! Maybe she’ll hit her head when she zonks out and she'll accidentally have some sense knocked into her! Salma is also feeling depressed (apachurrada) because she lost her chance with the only kid who’s ever loved her. Juaréver.

I look forward to reading your impressions of this episode and the new opening credits. Later! :)
I actually thought Ernesto had a "light bulb moment" when he heard Tracy say it didn't matter if her children died via frog poison and he was going to prevent the murder plot and become a hero. If he only would have acted on that info. Unfortunately, he did not and so he is now dead to me and also deserves to be in jail for his active participation. So, another male character bites the dust. It is sad when Félix seems to be the best of the bunch. Hey, he loves his mum!
Cristina had a statue of La Virgen de la Paz in her office. I wonder if she brought it in or if it was there already. Too funny.
Ricardo finally did a couple of smart things in a timely manner: (what a shock!) he recognized that a frog on his bed was not a normal occurrence. He called the police when he found out it was poisonous. My big question: why didn't he get the locks changed when he knew Tracy was on the run? Guess just a little too logical of a thought for our reactive inhabitants of Sueñolandia. Thinking ahead or any kind of anticipation is just not part of their script unless they are villains, of course.
The whole Pato/Luca/Anastasia/baby/Erasmo/Kristel/Pedro entanglement is just tooooo stupid for words.
I wonder,if the writers have any creative control or if they are fed plot points and told to produce a script. I am betting on the latter.
New opening credits? Missed those. Will have to give a looksee next time.
I was watching the news and while the screen was showing all the bad news we can expect, I was delighted reading the recap. The line that made me laugh really loud (soltar una carcajada) was that with Kracy forgetting her pants. True! Nice legs, but that was only the shirt and a belt.
I also noticed the VdlP behind CVV, and I think she brought it. I am not sure, I would have to review the spot the virgin sub game. Or maybe it is the same that shows up wherever she is needed?
OK. Nude body painted dress was great, but when CVV sat down to drink coffee I could see how she became a caterpillar, so I called it yesterday, while watching, the reverse butterfly, since it only looks good when you are standing up. Here, I have to quote Claire from Steel Magnolias: Seen from behind, look like two pigs fighting under a blanket. And since we are on the subject, let aside the dress, how can CVV run the escalator that fast with those shoes??
Now to my notes:
Is customary in the Manzanares household to have bundt cake for breakfast.
Everybody is at the Palacios and Félix is still making jell-o? Why not be working in this time of crisis?
And what is Margarita doing there too? Isn't she the principal at the Vasconcelos?
Silvana: Whaat? Pedro broke up wit Kristel? I will add him up to my list of soon to be dead people. Or pranked. Maybe she made that bundt cake with all that powdered sugar for him!!
I still don't get used to the Hanna-Barbera sound effects, boink!
There's been ages since I heard ''Manga ancha'', ''Carta Blanca'' is more popular.
Pégame, mátame pero no me dejes! Was very popular in Ms Salinas ancient times. Even as a joke, it doesn't look remotely funny in her fight with Félix.
Now that the wedding is temporarily off, Patolucas love theme is played by violins, snif!
And Filomena missed the golden opportunity of doing the alien face grabber stunt on Kracy's face, pity!
One thing Margarita will never advertise: Lanacane anti-chafing gel! LOL!
"Looks like Pato and I share abysmal math skills and a propensity for exaggeration" was one of my favorites.
"Her name is Cristina Somethingez Somethingama, Firewoman of Education, Pioneer of Progressive Pedagogy, Creator of Creative Curricula and Advocate for Abused Women, as well as Jocund Jiggly Jogger and Insulter of Insolent Ricardos" had me smiling away.
"He enquires whether she is worried one of her children might touch the poisonous amphibian. She replies that she doesn’t give a frog’s patootie if her kids die along with their dad. Ernesto is appalled at Kracy’s cruelty". I had not understood this crucial bit of dialog. I had been pinning my hopes on Ernesto and that he was going to win Esperanza's heart and that they would be together after she is cured. Well, this just blew that to smithereens. Jarifa, I sadly must agree that he realized that might occur yet did nothing. I can no longer support him.
Nandicta, I didn't see the new opening credits either but if Ric and Cris end up together and Esperanza ends up dying or alone, I will be very upset. This forced, antagonistic relationship between Ric and Cris does seem forced and unnatural. In order for it to work, it has to be real, along with smoldering chemistry. I don't see that here. I did see it with Espe and Ric early on but.
"Kristel continues to play the love martyr and asks to be excused. She is wearing a dejected look on her face, which is a slight improvement from her distorted snivelly expression that drives me up the wall". Yes. I cannot stand watching her or Pato a minute more. I care a tad bit about who Erasmo ends up with (those eyelashes), but the prospect of either Kristel or Pato just brings on the boredom.
Now that Ernesto has stepped onto the rim of Hades, one of my last hopes for this show has evaporated.
Nandicta, the vocabulary was wonderful. What a wonderful read.

I may have lost hope for a happy ending (for characters I care(d) about - Espe and Ernesto) but I never lost enjoyment for all the fun we are having here...
The company (unlike the writing) is sterling.
And, I must admit, I still want to see Kiko walk and Adrian sober. I still care about these characters...
Diana
And since she and Ric are destined to become a couple, maybe he should be offered a similar title... Hmmm, I'll think about something worthy of his excellence.
I know that in the past we've had galans that were a total turn off and we ended up liking the bad guy, but has the original galan ever been such a favorite? Such a pity...
I had written a well-thought out comment but stupid Blogger erased it without posting it (I got an error message and when I went back to the previous page it was gone). Oh well!
Jarifa, you are this week's winner of "Spot the Virgin"! ¡Felicidades! A small miracle and a statuette of La Virgen de la Paz shall be delivered to your door any day now.
Your comment about the rare instant of lucidity and common sense that Ricardo experienced when he encountered the frog made me laugh and so did this: "The whole Pato/Luca/Anastasia/baby/Erasmo/Kristel/Pedro entanglement is just tooooo stupid for words." Aranza should have been in there somewhere, but it appears she is at odds with Osorio 'cause he kicked her out of the love octagon, for now.
Why didn't they have the Shadow kill Ricky and bring in a new love interest for Esperanza?
-- Esperanza alone with her dream of love school and her kids.
-- Ricardo shacks up with the first blonde that crosses his path after "he is separated" from his "one-and-true love" (insert major eye roll!).
-- Kracy is cleaning poop in a women's jail (Osorio has a major fascination with fecal matter and feels that the utmost punishment for a villana is having her up to her eyeballs in doo-doo). Anastasia loses her peroxide mane, gets fat and poor, perhaps even accompanies Kracy in jail and the two of them get daily beatings by La Tuerta.
-- Ernesto dies.
-- Silvana repents.
-- Pato/Luca/Baby Luca, Estrella/Adrián, Salma/Kiko and Aranza/Pedro. Erasmo will meet a new gal. Kristel will end up alone for playing with two love interests, just like el perro de las dos tortas (the dog of the two sandwiches) and just like Nando in MCET.
Tofie, good to see you back! SdA is getting loopier, dimmer, dumber and more cringe-worthy than ever but boy are we having fun dissecting it in the Patio and in the recaps! We're getting a lot of laughs out of this "comedy", it's just that we're not laughing where Osorio intended for us to.
"Why didn't they have the Shadow kill Ricky and bring in a new love interest for Esperanza?" I ask myself this almost everytime I tune in to watch. This trainwreck has ruined Cris de la Fuente for me.
1) Ernesto is the big boss. He doesn't get his hands dirty, he sends his minions to do the messy work. Therefore, it made zero sense for him to be involved in Kracy's murder attempt, y mucho menos to be in Ricardo's house, being the lookout with Murillo. Puh-leeze!
2) Ernesto has no reason to harm Ricardo. As he said it himself, as long as Ric stays away from his girl, he has no interest in him or what he does.
3) No way, no how Ernesto would cancel on Esperanza to go play B&E and attempted murder with Kracy. Ernesto has been very attentive to Esperanza ever since he learnt of his illness and very worried (excessively so) about every little detail of her medical treatment. It is inconceivable that he would decline to accompany her to the doctor's to find out whether or not she is able to be operated soon. The same thing goes for Pato. Her preferring to confront Luca instead of accompanying her mother to her medical appointment make no sense whatsoever.
4) Kracy is in no position to threaten Ernesto because the authorities know she is certifiably Batsh*t Kracy (giving herself a beating then kidnapping and threatening to kill her own kids). All Ernesto has to do is tip the police off about her whereabouts. Anything she claims about Ernesto playing hero at Pato's bday would be dismissed as another one of her hallucinations. Besides, the one who has proof is Anastasia and Ernesto has her under his thumb. Therefore, Ernesto had no reason to get involved in the attempted murder of Ricardo thus giving Kracy yet more ammo to blackmail him.
Basically, if Osorio and his writers thought even 2 minutes about Ernesto's personality and motivations, they would not have included him in any of Kracy's scenes in this episode, y mucho menos in her dumb murder plot. This is why I decided that Ernesto was not involved in any of this nonsense. He would've never done something to harme the kids who once lived at his house, and to whom he was much kinder than their own mom.
Sorry about the other typos as well. Catch ya later, amigowz! :)
While I would love nothing more than to say I'm back in Ernesto's camp I can't quite get there for one reason. When Tracy said that she didn't care if her children were bitten, he did nothing. His silence was to me, the most treacherous act to date. God forgive me as I might even be able to get past it if he ordered Tracy whacked (as she is wacked). But I can't forgive his inaction when innocent children's lives were in danger. He conspired not by aiding Tracy, but doing nothing to intervene. He wasn't proactive but inactive. That is his sin.
Diana
I am from the Chespirito school, where things are not as they actually are but the way I would like them to be. So, I take whatever happens and add a little bit to make it more enjoyable. I know, I know, please forgive me for making fun of mentally impaired people's scripts, but they put themselves in the center of the target.
Now regarding Ernesto.
This is DREAM OF LOVE, they all have it and all fight for it as best as they can. Ernesto is no angel but I am sure he always knew that, how do you call it? Hare brained plot of killing somebody with a lobotomized frog that stays where you put it was in any way prone to succeed, so when she said that she didn't care if her kids died along with their dad, he knew that all of them were going to survive. All this pranks remind me a lot of the 60s series of Batman, where all the villains never really wanted to kill Batman, and the traps and other methods they used like the rope being slowly burned, the hourglass sand and all that, were done in the hope that he could survive, otherwise, a shot in the back of the head would had been enough, and after that, the ''tiro de gracia'' just to make sure.
People who claim they are very evil like Silvana, who wanted to kill her entire family has done nothing in the like. Ernesto gets his stuff done whatever means necessary, and if you are in the way you will be killed. The crime is not killing, or stealing, in Silvana's case, but the fact that you get caught. When you do something right, you can get away with it, but for that, you have to be smart and all these people are not.
My question is, how are they going to resolve the issue with lying, when Esperanza is so enemy of lies (when is other people who lies) and she finds out that at the same time that she has been lying through her teeth, everybody else around her is doing the same toher? A taste of her own medicine?
Instead of DREAM OF LOVE, this should be A WEB OF LIES (everybody gets tangled in it)
During the whole time La sombra was on the loose, his house didn't have any security or guards and he was globetrotting trying to find him. Sombra was also all over the world, but he had people who could have done some serious damage if he actually and really wanted to.
This is probably just to show us that Tracy is worse than the most dangerous criminal, LOL!
I understand that, but
My question is:
Why spend so much time in Africa with the gorillas if she wanted to keep Ricardo so badly by her side? Was it because he was also never home and she didn't stand the kids? She knew Ricardo was in love with somebody else and she wanted him for herself, so much that she got pregnant twice.
I am sure that even without the kids, it was very convenient for Ricardo to marry her in order to get his green card, so the trick was keeping him after he got what he wanted, right?
I had high hopes for Silvana to up her game to the level of Tracy but was sorely disappointed when she had to pay La Tuerta to tell her to let the air out of Viviana's tires. Old news but just so stupid.
In Ricardo we have a galán without a brain. Maybe he needs a trip to OZ: the Emerald City not the prison show.
Watch on! (Like Jeremy Wade "Fish on!") in River Monsters!
Thank you all and thank you JudyB for stopping by to greet us! Glad you enjoy reading the vocabulary list! :)
