Tres Veces Ana - Episode 18

Hi all! While Sneaky writes a fantastic recap for us, we can discuss it all here!

Sneaky's recap added!

(Scenes combined and re-ordered for no particular reason, it just worked better that way in my head)
So it looks like Evaristo the criminal mastermind hired the police to arrest Santiago and they discuss it. Evaristo then tells officer henchie to let im go tomorrow morning. No sooner does he dismiss officer henchie than FreeSpirit calls asking for help – Santiago has been arrested and she doesn’t know where else to turn. Well of course kindly grandpa Evaristo will help after all he did promise her grandma before she died  and even though he and Sole don’t see eye to eye he loves her like a daughter and Freespirit is like his granddaughter and he’d do anything for her.
So, the next day the cops let Santiago go saying it was all a misunderstanding, just like Evaristo said to, but when he tells FreeSpirit about the photo they showed him of a woman who supposedly died just after he was seen leaving her house, he looks haunted. Free Spirit won’t entertain the idea even for a second, he’s innocent and the police even said it was a mistake.
When they get home though, madrina isn’t too happy w/FreeSpirit for lying to her or Santiago for telling her to, even though she’s way relieved he’s out. But how did you find out Santiago asks, I told her kindly grandpa Evaristo says and explains how when Free Spirit called he looked into the case and when it turned out to be a mistake he used his connections to get Santiago out right away. Ta dah. Sole isn’t; too pleased Free Spirit called Evaristo for help and Remedios wants to talk w/him, they have some things to to hash out, but Evaristo says it’ll have to wait, he’s a busy man and asks Santiago to walk him out.
On the way out Evaristo tells Santiago it that deal he made with “the devil himself” worked out pretty well for him, didn’t it, now that he’s got Evaristo working for him he will protect him. Santiago is just glad he’s innocent and it all ended up being a misunderstanding. Heh just b/c they let you go doesn’t mean you’re innocent boy. And Evaristo the criminal mastermind starts to show through the kindly grandpa mask. He says he just made the stuff they had against Santaigo  *poof* disappear, and  tells Santiago to go enjoy his new life, while it lasts, kid, and  w/a sinister smile leaves. (oooh yeah, Santiago is gonna sleep well tonight after that *sarcasm* )

Jenny sleeps next to tio Mariano and remembers a funeral, Marcelo’s funeral. Looks like Marcelo has/had a living dad! Oh and Abue and Llora are blaming themselves and Bad Seed is mourning up a storm and being *extremely* clingy w/tio. Back in the present Jenny wonders if Marcelo could really be alive.
At the  graveyard Bad Seed and Abue leave flowers and Abue remembers b eing on  the phone w/him when the accident was actually happening. ( Hang! Up! And! Drive! Marcelo!) He was just about to tell her something about the evidence he had found and then he yelled for someone to be careful  and then bam! Call over. She silently wonders if she’ll ever know what he was going to say an d begs his forgiveness.

Ramiro goes to the foundation to see Llora. Her foundation friend hasn’t heard about the breakup yet and tells him all about how happy Llora has been lately assuming its b/c of him, but Llora is out of course w/her new bestie who Ramiro must know all about since they’re sweeties and she finally tells him where they went.
In the nearby café (just two blocks away) Llora and Valentin compliment each other, - You’re wonderful, - no you are.  He leans in and whispers in her ear that he’d like all her smiles to be only for him and then Ramiro stalks over and knocks him off the café chair. When Llora goes for the wheelchair Ramiro realizes he just punched a cripple and the apologies start, but Llora is all disappointment and scorn and won’t listen or talk to him and Valentin “helps” by telling him she His Novia. Llora is a bit surprised but won’t deny it and Ramiro leaves in defeat.

The co-dependant fam is going home. Tio and Jenny discuss their plans for the future and Bad Seed’s possessiveness – he claims to think she sees him like a father, Jenny and I don’t buy it.
On the plane Tio and Bad seed discuss his plans for the future. He wants to be a father and grandfather and Bad Seed is appalled, like he said he wanted to grow a mullet and live in a car appalled. (apologies to anyone living in a car or growing a mullet, I totally didn’t mean to judge yr life choices)

Sole calls Chana for the $$ from the stuff in the shop Chana wants to know first what’s all this about kidnapping Analu. Sole tries to deny but Chana tells her about the guy and doing a reading for him and Sole folds and repeats what she’s said before about not kidnapping her b/c she saved her and w/o Sole she would have died. Chana reassures Sole that only she and Orlando have talked w/the guy and they told him she went up north. Sole is just agonizing aloud about all the lies when that judgemental lady who lives in the pension (Imma call her Judy) walks by and gives her a look.
Sole begs Chana to keep protecting her but then her daughter comes around the corner and she pretends it was a wrong number. Free Spirit doesn’t look convinced.

Free Spirit worries to Remedios about how they’ll make a living and where she’ll work and Sole not taking it easy. Remedios suggests she take the circus (dans aire) job so her mom won’t have to work. Maribel is listening in and makes a face.
But later instead of trying to talk her out of it Maribel convinces FreeSpirit to accept the job, and not tell her mom till its too late, and get them to take on Maribel too. And Free Spirit does, she told circus guy that they were a package deal and he had to take them both and he did it. Yay.  There’ll be hard work though and they’ll have to keep it secret.

Valentin and Llora talk about how awful Ramiro is and um Valentin is gonna take her silence when he said she was his novia as assent, it’s a done deal now. And he loves her of course, and Ramiro watches thru the window as they kiss.

Inaki shows off his new apt to Santiago. Santiago looks kinda freaked out and has a mini-flashback to walking in the apt and pouring himself a drink like the place was his. He tells Inaki he has a feeling he’s been there before and even knows how it used to be furnished, not that Inaki knows anything about that. Santiago asks about who owned it before, all Inaki knows is it was a couple who lived in Costa Pariso and this was their town place, and when the husband died the wife sold it.
Inaki tries to distract Santiago by saying his boss’s niece  is prettier than Maribel who he thinks is Analu, but Santiago is still thinking about the apt and asks him to try to find out more about the old owners, the wife is still alive right?

Free Spirit tells Santiago about her new job and why she’s keeping it a secret from her mom (mom hasn’t been too supportive lately) They’re sure Sole will be thrilled when its fait accompli.

The co-dependent fam get home and BadSeed is mad b/c Llora isn’t waiting to greet them, then runs off to tell her all about the trip.  Meanwhile Abue’s friend the doc’s wife comes by to chat, and they do in approximately this order – trip, graveyard, old love re-encountered, Abue’s loveless marriage.
Llora is happy to hear that tio Mariano is getting married and starting a family of his own.  But BadSeed swears, fists clenched and crazy look in her eyes, *they* are his only family and he can’t marry Jenny or anybody else.
(and before I have a chance to do more than shake my head, its over. Tune in next time for more co-dependent insecurity, oh and there’ll probably be some other stuff too.)

So Evaristo was definitely behind it, and not only that - they were either fake or dirty cops. He spun the tale very nicely to his advantage then in front of Ana Lu and Santi - he "used his influence" to get him out early. I can't decide if I really dislike this character or slightly admire for brains. Seems to be the smarter one out of a lot of people we see.

Ramiro still cannot catch a break and lost all the points he still had with Llora for punching a guy in a wheelchair. And in the scene of Valentin asking Llora to be his girlfriend - didn't it look like he was serious??

Ana Le it looks like is thinking through her move on Jenny. Uh oh.

I have to say Ria, I didn't have one iota of pity for Ramiro. He may think he's protecting his poor "love", but it came off as a pure caveman move. Even if Val wasn't in a wheelchair, it was stupid and he would have embarrassed Llora in public. Llora may be shy and lord knows most people around her only see her mopey and teary, but she is a grown woman who has the ability to function on her own. Maybe respecting that better would be the key for everyone to get this woman to bloom.

Speaking of which, I rather had some hope looking at Llora's face as AnaLe went on her tirade, trying to demean Llora's glee over her new beau. I so want to tune in next to see her tell her sister to shut the hell up and everything is not about her. Pretty please writers????

Had a feeling Ev might have been a dirty cop---they keep playing the character right our of Damon Runyon novel, complete with the chewing gum and trench coat. So it was either that or gumshoe...but those are usually good guys. Still trying to figure out his angle beside helping Sole ( he said "like a daughter" but is it more? )

Oh totally agree, Daisynjay. Did not fee sorry for Ramiro either. Llora actually did a nice job standing up for herself and telling him to get lost.

I cannot crack Evaristo either. Who is he protecting? Half waiting for Gina to show up from the shadows.

Did anyone also notice that the exit song is performed by Zepeda?

It seems to me that hanging out with Valentin is giving Ana Laura some back bone. Did anyone see the look she had on her face as Ramiro was leaving? Pure spunk; I am loving it...Ana Leticia needs to take a cold shower, the look she was giving her uncle made me so uncomfortable. She is really sick in the head

Anon, I agree. A psychologist could have a field day with AnaLe. Maybe the writers should find one of those guys from PyP to talk to her. Seems her inlaid guilt over causing the accident, which you would think we crush her and make her more like Llora, instead flipped the switch to intensify a feeling of justifying that she still is always right and should have her way. Almost as if in her mind she is refusing to believe that very attitude is what caused the accident.

She definitely seems to be losing more and more control. Bowyer does a great job showing that look of "losing it" every time she has to confront that emotion or loss of control of being front and center.

Wow. I did not know this was on ast night. All I saw was "Gorda and Flaca." How did I miss this?

Julie, it came on at 8pm after Sueno de Horror.

Totally agree that Ramiro came off completely caveman. Glad to see AnaLaura is finding strength. But I think Val is playing her. He might like her a little but all I can see are his wheels turning as he more and more gets what he wants.

Everything Evaristo touches seems to be turning to gold for him. He has everyone in his hands.

So none of the faces bring back his memory but a rented apartment does? Weird.

It was sickening when AnaLet was in the airplane and while talking to Mariano, took his hand and placed it on her knees. And what the hell was she wearing? I did like that she showed her true face to AnaLaura. The more AnaLaura sees the true nature of her sister the least influence she will have on her.

Dammit, I missed another AnaLet "what the hell was she wearing" outfit too??

Don't worry Julie. The episode ended with her still in it so I'm sure you'll get to see it in tonight's episode.

Oh yeah, Julie, Carvivlie is right about that outfit. I defy anyone to tell me they've seen anyone, even in first class, dressing like that for their day travel ensemble. That was one "Look at me" Happy Hooker outfit. Of course, Bowyer can wear it, but it was a bit mind-numbing.

Well, I did not check the tv guide and missed this episode. I was reading about a plant called amaranthus that also goes by the name ," love lies bleeding" due to its trailing red blooms, and I was thinking what a good telenovela title this would make!

This story is a tangled web.

Thank you thank you Sneaky Two!

"Apologies to anyone living in a car or growing a mullet, I totally didn’t mean to judge yr life choices" -- Good, I'd hate to have to call you Judy!

Oh my gosh these people.
And yet the actors must be doing a good job b/c I'm sympathizing with most of them. I'm even feeling sorry for Bad Seed, imagining how sad and scary it would be to feel that other people's love for you was something that could be lost so easily, that if they love somebody else there's nothing left for you.

And Sole, yeah she kinda did kidnap that kid she saved, but she's right she did save her life, and she'd just lost her own daughter so she was in a fragile place.

Evaristo is so shady but I like him anyway all looking out for his fam, whether they want him to or not and playing his own game on the side.

And Maribel, she just wants to shine, it'd be hard being the less pretty friend all the time.

Oh yeah I've been sucked into this big time
Just one thing, can we make Ramiro the villain and Valentin turn into a good guy, please. Even with everything we know about him, I'm rooting for wheelchair boy.

My thanks to Ria for covering for me and keeping everything up to date. Yay Ria!

Thank you for the great recap Sneaky Two Shoes.

"he claims to think she sees him like a father, Jenny and I don’t buy it" and "The co-dependent fam" were among my favorites.

They say when someone regains their memory after an accident, it comes back quickly. This appears to be the case with Santiago.

Boyer was really sliming over her uncle who honestly (and mercifully) seems unaware (although Jennifer is very much so).

Inaki seems ambitious but appears to be a good and loyal friend. I suspect once Ana really sinks her claws into him, all this will surely change.

Ramiro was totally wrong to attack Val although I would imagine emotions are high when the love of your life dumps you and is another relationship in a NY minute!

Diana

Thanks sneaky!! Enjoyed your recap. And I'm all in on the switching the beaus up for Llora.

Maybe I'm a nosy old soul, but if I was talking to a friend who was being vague on how she saved a child and that's how she has her, I'd be "oh, what happened? Where did you find her? How bad was she hurt? Did she not have family that wanted to take her? How old was she....blah blah blah". I mean GIVE ME DETAILS!
Woman is supposed to be the local "witch" fortune teller...read the blasted cards or something to see "facts".

And now we have Llora smiling but Sole is going to be wimpering every episode. Lord help us

Thank you for the wonderful recap, Sneaky. I missed this last night.

Evaristo sure knows how to set people up and make them feel indebted to him. I wonder how many characters in the story he has set up. He is the most intriguing character so far to me and the key to the mysteries.

I am not giving Mariano a pass for any hand holding initiated with Ana Leticia as in a previous episode or in this episode with her taking his hand and placing it on her knee. No uncle in his right mind would passively allow this pervy behavior unless he was a perv himself. She isn't three years old.

As for Ramiro letting Valentín have it, I have a feeling Valentín is going to deserve more than that by the time this is over.

Thanks again, Sneaky and thanks to Carvivlie for the info about the hand on the knee.,

Recap posted in the main body.

You are very welcome Sneaky, happy to cover! And thank you for such an awesome recap. I loved this line: "Bad Seed is appalled, like he said he wanted to grow a mullet and live in a car appalled." Still laughing!

Thanks a bundle Sneaky! I loved AnaLet's face when Mariano talked about wanting to see kids running around a garden. Obviously that is something she cannot give him!

Carvivlie, that just makes it worse!

Sorry Jarifa! Hope I didn't ruin your lunch or dinner!!

Thank you sneaky. Missed last night but so glad Laura got her a bo. Lest we forget, Ramiro nearly married Gina so don't get his assumptive ownership of weepy. I'm with Sneaky, make Valentin the good guy

Naw, Carvivlie, it takes more than that. :)

Gracias, Sneaky. Just caught up.

Evaristo is one slimy dude. It would not surprise me if Isidro talked to him and offered money to find Soledad and Ana Lucia. He'd sell that girl out so fast.

So Inaki has Marcelo's old apartment. Another standard coincidence happens. Need to update the list later.

I have to go out but I will be back at 9:30. If folks are up to it I have a weekend game to post.

Thanks all
Ahh you guys are making me laugh w/all the comments

I really don't get how tio can be so unaware of how inappropriate Bad Seed is with him. I have to think he secretly knows and just isn't admitting it to himself.

Urban - a wkend game sounds fun, hopefully I'll be able to stop by and participate.

I missed out again on AnaLet's awful outfit tonight, but I have to say that her wardrobe trends towards the bleeding edge of edgy fashion. Or maybe it's just over the line. I don't think she'll ever have to worry about showing up at a party in the same dress as anyone else.

I had a thought about Evaristo. I think he's accumulating debts from people. He's doing lots of huge favors and at some point he's counting on all these people to return those favors. Why? I dunno, but that's how it looks to me.

Thanks to Ria and Sneaky for recaps.

It is weird that Marcelo doesnt acknowledge A Le inappropriate sexual behavior.

I agree that by the end of show Valentin will have deserved even worse.

I am surprised nobody seems to suspect that Tim is who strangled Gina. Just because he is in a wheelchair doesn't mean he couldn't have done it. I am thinking crime of passion and neing double crossed.

I hope Ram's luck changes soon. I like him more than Valetin who has a sinister agenda.

Just my two cents.

Leticia

Thanks, Sneaky! I haven't seen this episode yet. Glad Santi is out of jail, but not pleased that all these folks are stupid enough to think that Ev is "helping" them. I'm guessing that throughout all this drama with the "police", Santi STILL didn't get anyone to tell him his real name. If Ev was supposedly so instrumental in using his influences to free him, shouldn't he know?

Valentin only makes Llora smile because she thinks she doesn't deserve/can't keep a man who doesn't have a disability, like Ramiro. Ramiro also used to make her happy and smile, until HER insecurities took hold of her-- then it was all weepy all the time. Even if Valentin weren't evil and planning some harm, I bet Leticia would find a way to tap into Llora's insecurities to make her miserable in Val's company. That, or wheel him down a flight of stairs. Either way, Llora would end up crying, just like Leticia likes it.

Thanks Sneaky. Always enjoy your recaps. Will be interesting to see if Inaki turns to the dark side. He's clearly a user. Evidently still owes folks at the boarding house money; plus dissed his kindly dad (always evidence of low character in telenovelas), and has put his salary towards the snazzola apartment rather than reimbursing folks whom he still owes.

In other words, a "me first" guy, though not to the extent of Ana Leticia who appears pathologically fearful of losing both love and money. Shall we assume her repressed guilt over causing parents' death leads her to believe she is unworthy of love.

And yes, Julie, you have got to see last night's outfit. Penthouse Hooker all the way, though of course Angelique got to show off her six-pack as well as her silicone appendages, and looked fabulous in it.

Thanks again Sneaky, I reread a second time and I forgot to mention earlier that the man who was grieving Mareclo in his coffin that might have been his father or relative. Looks like that gentleman was none other than the despicable "Ashmore/Assmore"
from PyP.

Leticia

So glad I found this blog. Great recaps! Wondering is Tio Mariano is hiding a family secret, like maybe he isn't a real uncle? I just don't get how he let's bad seed slither all over him unless he knows they aren't related.

Linnethia, you may be onto something. I've been wondering for a while if Mariano isn't adopted or something. Granny does refer to the girls' father as Mariano's brother, but that would cover adoptive and foster brotherhood as well as blood.

I haven't seen anything that indicates that Mariano understands Leticia's true feeling for him. I think she's his favorite niece because she's the most like him-- hot, confident, willful, self-absorbed, and stubborn. She's a reflection of him.

My computer crashed. I am downloading my new OS and cannot get the handwritten notes even typed up yet. I am also locked out dashboard. My email is screwed up. Sorry.

Please send me another email link to the dashboard?

Jardinera- I just emailed you.
