Tres Veces Ana - Episode 29 - Evil plans and tearful good-byes

Mariano’s future love interest (we can only assume based on the supposed amount of dislike being thrown around) Viviana is having lunch with Julietta, who happens to be Daniel’s mother. Julietta laments her son is not the same ever since falling in love with Ana Leticia. They spend some time discussing her tragic fate of losing her husband after just one year and sounds like in light of that Julietta is giving her a break. Viviana thinks that perhaps Daniel might have another chance with Ana Le.

The subject changes to Mariano, who is – yes – still sitting one table across with his lawyer friend. Viviana is not impressed, Mariano has an air of an arrogant man, who thinks he is above everything and everybody. Julietta makes a joke of the two of them getting together, which is not well received. Viviana is concentrating on winning the lawsuit. Should we place bets on how long it is until these two are sitting in a tree?

Jenny calls Ana Le (who could not sound less sincere drawing out a long “what a surprise”) to let her know that the DNA analysis will be available tomorrow. Ana Le tells her that she will jump on the plane straight away and asks that nobody find out she is coming and that Jenny doesn’t open the results until Ana Le is there. She is promised all of those things.

Ana Le then remembers a call with Evaristo from years ago. She asks him if he found out the results of Marcelo’s investigation. The results are what you knew all along, says Evaristo – Ana Lucia is dead. Oh, well in that case, go ahead and cancel the other job I asked you to do. No can do, replies our telenovela hitman, it’s too late and Ana Le should go out and buy a very pretty black dress, as she just became a widow. Ana Le hangs up and cries inconsolably and pleas for forgiveness. So we finally get the answer that she did, in fact, order her husband’s murder, but having done that for some reason regretted her decision. Ev lied about Ana Lu, of course, to protect Sole.

Remedios and Ev are still finishing up the talk they started mid-episode yesterday. Rem doesn’t believe a word he says. Santi doesn’t remember anything, but human souls have no memory, they don’t change and she knows Santi has a good soul. Besides, she already heard Ev’s tale from Sant, and if that were true, why would Alfredo want her to help Santi. Evaristo volunteers a theory that perhaps Santi-Beltran has deceived Alfredo as well. And really he – Evaristo – is not giving Santi up to the police just out of love and respect for Remedios, but she would be well served to remember that Santi is a ticking time bomb. She can’t know what will happen to his good and kind soul if his past of a criminal comes back to him.

Meanwhile Maribel is visiting Orlando in the hospital. He is very hurt, with broken arm and a leg and needs extensive physical therapy. Ev’s message was successfully received though and heeding the warning, Orlando does not want to see Ana Lu. He asks Maribel to tell Ana Lu to be happy with Santi and that he won’t be bothering them again. He then asks Maribel if she would come back to San Nicholas with him, and to her credit Maribel says that no, she will not. Orlando doesn’t feel that same for her, as she does for him, and besides – she is here following her dreams, and is not about to give that up for him, or anyone else. Interesting - first time this character is actually deserving of respect.

Santi and Ana Lu are sitting in the hospital waiting room continuing their argument of who has more of a right to be jealous – he of Orlando, who is everywhere and might have even arranged this beating to see Ana Lu, or she of a wife that might prevent Santi from coming back. Santi makes the mistake of saying that she can’t judge the wife she hasn’t met, but he met Orlando and knows he is cray-cray. Ana Lu takes it to mean that Santi is expecting to remember or feel something on his return to "wife". Thankfully they are interrupted by Maribel who informs them that Orlando doesn’t want to see Ana Lu. Everybody is surprised.

And at the restaurant, Mariano is getting ready to leave with a friend. He goes outside and they chuckle about a practical joke Mariano just pulled. He paid Viviana and Julietta’s restaurant bill and is picturing this independent woman going crazy that a macho such as him paid her bill. He scampers away to his car anticipating Viviana running out to kill him any second. Inside the restaurant, Viviana is furious and asks for a detailed bill, so she can find out how much he paid. I have to say, this was a funny move.

Ana Le is packing up to leave. Daniel makes an attempt to leave with her, but his luggage is thrown onto the roof. What about last night, he inquires.

At the hostel, Rem is worried about Santi not going to work, apparently he is still sleeping. And we are glad we got this critical to plot piece of information.

Ana Lu is sharing her own critical pieces of information about Orlando’s misfortunes with Sole. Sole can’t listen to the recount of Orlando’s injuries, what with her conscience stabbing her in the stomach with a thousand knives. Ana Lu takes it only to mean that this is a sensitive subject. She does though want her mother to go visit Orlando and find out how he is, since he doesn’t want to see Ana Lu. Sole doesn’t want to go, but sounds like Ana Lu will convince her.

Inaki comes over to Mariano’s office as he was called in. Mariano wants him to close the deal on Creesidro’s lands, but the lands – it appears –are already sold. Sold?? I told you to take care of it! Well, says Inaki, I did, but then yesterday was Sunday, so…. Mariano is not impressed – there are no weekends in real estate.

Our abue Ernestina and her friend, the cardiologist’s wife, are scheming to accidentally run into Rodrigo. Ok, when did that happen? Didn’t she hate him? They discuss that he is still very attractive. Cardiologist shows up and says he tried to locate Rodrigo, but seems like he is out of town on a trip.
And indeed there he is in the next scene, along with Creesidro and Ramiro, checking out Creesidro’s lands in San Nicholas. We understand now why Ramiro had to be Rod’s accountant – how else would Ram get back to San Nicholas?

Mariano and Jenny talk about her handing off her work to another architect and coming to Mexico. Ana Le is eavesdropping. So he didn’t change his mind then, she asks. No, Mariano is still determined to marry Jenny, whom he loves. Ana Le hugs him a little too tight and asks him not to stop loving her. (She is really acting like a small child with divorcing parents). If Mariano has decided, she says, there is nothing more to think about. And as she says that, she looks like she has made up some evil plan. She has meetings and won’t be back for the rest of the day she informs him.

Her impending meeting – architect Jenny – has already received the DNA test. She can’t restrain herself, and despite the promise she made to Ana Le, opens the envelope and….drumroll….it is NOT Marcelo. (Can you even believe that something this crazy could be true? Could have knocked me down with a feather!) Jenny wonders what could have happened to Marcelo and thinks that together with Ana Le they will find him. Oh, Jenny. We hope you are right, but we are not sensing very nice things in store for you based on Ana Le’s look a couple scenes ago.

Ana Le is buying a first class ticket to Costa Paraiso.
Santi is also packing to go. Ana Lu sees him packing and is desperate. I bet he is not flying first class though, so I am thinking we will have a pleasure of seeing another near miss encounter here. Why is Santi leaving so soon, asks Ana Lu. Well, he had a whole romantic night planned, and was going to tell her at the end of it, but plans got spoiled by Orlando and jealousy. Ana Lu was sour with him for rest of the night and didn’t let him talk.
Why is your suitcase so big, changes the subject Ana Lu. How long are you staying here? He doesn’t know – a week, a month, maybe more. (Really, Santi – a month? Sounds like he is planning on a very detailed divorce requesting session. Ana Lu though really needs a reality check to snap her out of her denial land.) Ana Lu’s sobbing attracts Rem’s attention. What is going on? Santi is leaving already? Wow, that dude really didn’t tell anybody.

We cut to Soledad, who has come to visit Orlando and from the look she gave him, I am not entirely sure she isn’t there to finish the job. Orlando wonders the same. No, she is just here because Ana Lu asked her. Orlando tells her not to worry, he got the message, he won’t tell anything. Sole tries to convince him she is a nice woman, he has known her his whole life. She is not a nice woman, says Orlando, in fact – she is a detestable woman and a kidnapper. She knows terrible criminals, who beat him up. How many other lives are on her conscience? He is predicting people will discover her lie, and Ana Lu will not believe her story of motherly love. Everybody will hate her, including her daughter.

Mariano is discussing Jennifer’s impending move to Mexico with friend, says he is excited about it and hopes this lasts. Well, that’s reassuring coming from a groom. Vivian comes to throw lunch money at Mariano. She doesn’t need anybody paying for her.

Inaki had a lot of filler scenes today. His brother comes to visit him at the agency, and Inaki takes him out for a coffee. Tells brother not to visit him unless he dresses up and wears a tie. Inaki thinks out loud that it is very possible he will soon find solution to his problems. He is not capturing our interest with his mini-intrigues yet.

Vivian and Julietta discuss Mariano some more. Julietta thinks his paying was a friendly gesture and Vivian smartly disagrees – he wanted to laugh at her. She says she is tired of talking about him and then discusses him some more.

Elsewhere Ernestina frets over the possibility of Rodrigo declining to see her. The man in question himself is still walking lands in San Nicholas. He likes them and wants to purchase. Creesidro is happy and invites Rod and Ram to celebrate. Ram excuses himself, as he has something to do. That something is a visit to Chana, who knew he was coming, having seen him in town, and had a coffee ready for him. Ram tells her he knows Ana Lu is alive and is close to finding her.

Santi is leaving and his taxi driver friend is taking him to the airport. Ev is here at the hostel to see Santi off. He informs Santi there will be a person Ev trusts waiting for Santi in Costa Paraiso and that person will take him around. Santi tries to decline, but Ev is insisting. Let’s hope Santi is not stupid enough to actually take him up on it.

We see more filler with Inaki and brother running into Rem’s helper Susi. Information is exchanged about Santi leaving, they make lunch plans, and we wonder why this is even a scene.

Evaristo is meanwhile on the phone instructing his Costa Paraiso person to meet Santi and he should know what to do after. An evil plan is in place. Let’s start placing bets on the success rate here.
Santi and Ana Lu are at the airport saying their good-byes.

Gracias, Ria.

Something is going to go wrong in Costa Paraiso and whatever it is will provoke the inevitable cliche separation of Santiago and Ana Lucia. The most likely outcome of this in my book is that she will be embarazada and end up unwillingly marrying Creesidro to save her rep. She will lose her career (perhaps only temporarily) and end up a prisoner in Creesidro's lair. Unlike Ana Leticia, she won't have the stomach for this. Ana Leticia would just make sure she is his sole heiress and we will have instant Black Widow.

No Ana Llorona today. I wonder whether all viewers feel like most of the peeps on this forum.

More later.

Ria, thank you for the wonderful recap! You sure got all of the details down and there were so many if those!

Maybe uncle Mariano is aware of the twisty love his niece Ana Leticia has for him when he felt he had to explain the two kinds of love he had: one for the woman he was going to marry Jenny and another for her his favorite niece. Creepy but entertaining.

I totally agree with your assessment that we are "not expecting very nice things" for Jenny with a jealous Ana Leticia on the loose.

"Ana Lu though really needs a reality check to snap her out of denial land" hit it right on the head and it seems she got it with Santiago's plan for a sudden departure.

Soledad was really stupid for going to visit Orlando and listen to his rantings and even worse to implicate herself in his beating. For me,I am so glad that obnoxious Orlando got the message and will be going back home. Too bad so sad that he will be going alone with Maribel more interested in the show than him at this point. Smart cookie!

Yes, Evaristo was very well dressed again in this one. I am sure he has planned a very interesting time for Santiago in Costa Paraíso which could become Costa Infernal very quickly. Ha! Ha!

Wow, Ria, this recap was amazing. Thank you.

I had a lousy sinus headache all day yesterday and by the time this came on kept thinking of my comfy pillow and zoning out. But have to admit, we are getting more action and progress than we've had in weeks last few episodes.

So AnaLe officially needs to be put on the Anvil list for planning and hiring the hit on Santi. No points for changing her mind.

What is fascinating is that she has these moments of regret or self-realization on her destructive behavior, and then her mind switches right back to her narcissistic thinking with planning whatever justifying it as her right. No lessons ever learned, so I fully expect her to go full throttle on getting Jenny out of the picture. And I wouldn't be surprised if she thinks Dear Uncle doesn't love her enough, he'll get a target on his back too.

So Orlando, he of the gorgeous eyes but little brain, goes off on Soledad. I'm sitting at the Soledad Drives Me Nuts table on the patio, and from here, many thanks. Took the words right out of our mouths.

Anyone else think this 60 episode portion will end with the Santi/AnaLu eyes meet across the room moment? We sure are headed that way. Yawn.

Daisynjay

Sorry, meant the AnaLe moment. Where's that coffee?

Daisynjay

Thanks, Ria. Yeah, Mariano and Viviana are definitely hot for one another. Once they stop fighting, I think they'll skip the sittin'-in-tree phase entirely and go straight to the nookie.

I must say, Mariano is a comic genius. Previously I hadn't suspected he even had a sense of humor, but his joke on Viviana was a good one. A great one, in fact. If she complains to other people about it, she'll sound like a lunatic. ("Do you know what that SOB did to me? He BOUGHT MY LUNCH!")

I wish we had some clue as to why Inaki is in the story. I mean, I assume he'll become important at some point, but right now he's just occupying space and drawing more attention to the fact that there is too much filler in this TN.

Thank you, Ria. I am now often a day behind on this tn, but the last two episodes have actually prompted me to want to watch my recordings. Looking forward to seeing this episode. Plot movement and actual things for other characters to do!

Urban- I don't see why Ana Lucia would ever marry that old fart. She was raised by a single mother, and if she for some odd reason felt like she HAD to marry someone to cover a surprise pregnancy, it would be Orlando over Cresencio.

Jenny is definitely a goner at this point. The writers already lined up a new woman for Mariano.

I hope Santi is able to avoid whatever trap Ev has planned for him when he arrives in Costa Paraiso.

Funny that Ana Lucia and Rem think he's leaving too soon, when I've been wandering why he's been dawdling and hasn't gone already!

I've also been impatient for Santi to leave. Not only so as to move the plot along, but even from AnaLu's point of view you'd think she'd just want him to get it over with.

Thanks for the great recap! I'll be watching this tonight and look forward to seeing Mariano's joke.

One thing that bugged me from the previous episode was that instead of Ram asking Isidro if he knew Ana Lucia, he asked if he knew Soledad. If AnaLu was a child I could understand it a bit more but AnaLu is an adult. The more info he gets specifically about her the better off he would be.

One last thing, since Marcelo was only semiconscious when Ev told him that AnaLet was the contract killer, I fear he won't remember that bit once he recovers his memory. I'm sure AnaLet will play the loving wife and he will go along. Or more frustrating is that he will recover his memory slowly and by episode 139 he has a revelation.

This was a fun episode, Ria, as was your recap. Always enjoy reading your summations.

Favorite moments: When Mariano barked "There are no weekends in real estate". Reminds of that great line "There's no crying in baseball." Memorable.

My other favorite moment was when Chana said solemnly to Ramiro "I KNEW you would be coming to see me today."
-"Why?"
-"Last night my dead grandmother appeared to me in a vision and told me so."
-"Really?"
-"Naaah. I saw you on the beach earlier. But that's what people expect me to say."

Loved it.

Yes, I fear our dear Jennifer's days are numbered. And as for Inaki, I'm thinking he still believes himself capable of winning Ana Leticia's meager affection. As a chronically broke gambler, he's sure capable of self-delusion.

En fin, mil gracias Ria. Eres un encanto. (Just thought I'd throw that in. As a telenovela watcher, my Spanish only consists of flowery phrases.)

Thanks, RIa, for this excellent recap.

Yeah...I can relate to VIvian's outrage. I get really p*ssed when someone buys me a meal QUe?

Mariano , the groom, hoping that the marriage would work out made me reminisce about my younger daughter's wedding when the groom's mother sat next to me, linked her arm in mine, and whispered in my ear " ALl my other seven kids are divorced...but this one is going to last forever. ......guess what...it didn't.

As for the purpose Nonecki fulfills in this saga...no idea.

I think it would be hilarious if Inaki, who does seem to have AnaLet's number, was the one to bring her down. That is if he can do it before he brings himself down.

Thanks, all.

Urban - very interesting theory on Ana Lu and Creesidro. Also until you mentioned I didn't even realize that it's been a couple episodes since we saw Llora. No wonder these episodes seemed more lively!

Jarifa - yes, thank you for reminding of the Mariano/Ana Le scene, where Mariano does distinguish that he loves Jenny as a woman and Ana Le is not pleased. Very entertaining indeed!

Daisynjay - totally agree with you on Ana Le. She has these odd moments of almost regret, but even those are narcissistic in nature. She is not sorry it's done, just regretting that she had to do it. But it passes quickly and she is back to scheming! I, too, think that killing off anyone is fair game from where she is standing.
Oh - AND - yes, if they stretch out the Ana Le/Santi meeting to the end of the first season, as it surely looks like they are planning to do, ending on the two gazing at each other across the room would round up the list of cliches quite nicely.

Julie - agreed on Mariano and Viviana, and that joke was fantastic. Perhaps Inaki is going to be scheming with Ana Le before too long, but as with many plot development items here, we are still waiting...

Vivi - yes, it's sad we already know Jenny is on the way out, what with Viviana's presence here. And like you and Julie - I am looking forward to Santi getting on with it.

Carvivlie - I thought the same thing! Why would Ram bring up Soledad when he is interested in what happened to Ana Lu. And he dropped it very promptly without even clarifying what Creesidro meant by saying he is mad at her.
And I hope we won't get partial memory back for Marcelo. This amnesia storyline is getting tiring as is, though all history so far points to the fact that you are right and we won't be quite done when Marcelo remembers Ana Le.

JudyB - muchas gracias a ti tambien! Eres muy amable :) And Chana's interaction with Ramiro was priceless. I especially liked his facial expression where he almost believed her: "Really, your dead grandmother told you I'd be coming??"

Susanlynn - indeed, too funny with Mariano and his wishful thinking of let me cross my fingers and hope I don't cheat. And you can predict a lot from past behavior or other factors, as you mention as well. So I think Mariano would have cheated - but looks like now Ana Le is going to eliminate the necessity to do so for him.

Thanks, Ria. Fine job.

Who would've thought Ana Le had such a great throwing arm. She tossed Daniel's bag smack dab on the roof.

Orlando is something else. Now that he's beat to a pulp and needs nursing, he's willing to settle for Maribel. So glad she didn't go for this. Will she soon stop being an envidiosa and be a true friend to Ana Lu?

I just finished watching Lo Que La Vida Me Robo -- two years after the original US broadcast. I read the Caray, Caray posts after every episode and see that some of the wonderful recappers and posters are watching and commenting on this one. In general I enjoyed it very much, although it went on too long. The Caray,Caray posts were a great addition to the viewing.

I am now very tempted to do some marathon Hulu watching to catch up on Tres Veces and see many of the LQLVMR actors again. On the other hand, if this looks like another 200 episode novela, not sure I can muster the courage.

Impressions to far? How is the writing? Any sense of how many long this one is going to be.

Thanks so much for your help and once again it's great to see comments and thoughts from a lot of the LQLVMR Caray,Caray gang.

Thanks Ria, I didn't even get a chance to watch this one so your recap was very necessary, not to mention entertaining.
Chana is becoming one of my favorite characters, I wish she had more to do.

Oh Mati Hi *waves* um if I was trying to catch up on this, I'd watch the first few and then two or three a week and read recaps on the rest till I was up to date. Reading recaps only takes about 1/3 the time watching the epi does. If you enjoyed LQLVMR you'll probably like this but the pace can be kinda slow and predictable and we're only thirty epis in. Also this has one thing LQLVMR fer sure didn't have and that's AB as an evil character, its entertaining.

Thanks, Ria. That is very helpful and good advice!
