Tres Veces Ana #35: Old Memories, New Methods Or, Revelations and Self-Recriminations

The “new Marcelo” accuses Evaristo at gunpoint of having concocted one heck of a despicable lie.  Ol’ Ev as usual can explain.  SanMarco tells him that his mind may not remember much but his muscles and instincts are totally on top of things; the man in front of Ev now is very capable of pulling a trigger, so don’t test him!  (Yeah, you’re just as likely to have pigs fly with this old windbag!)  Ev starts spinning another one.

Evaristo puts the blame on SanMarco for not following his directions and going with the man at the airport like he told him to.  Oh, and that explains why he lied about that picture he gave him, and lying bout her being his wife. Then she’s lying dead in a construction site while two are trying to kill him?  Ev tells him if he’d wanted him dead he’d have been dead a long while back already. ---(NOT!  It’s no wonder Marcelo’s alive with the group of half-baked wannabe crooks this guy’s got on his payroll!  Ev thinks a bit too highly of himself in this biz.)  No, Marcelo Salvaterra had numerous enemies.  Could have been any one of them…..

At the same time, Ramiro breaks a window to enter Valentin’s hole-in-the-wall apartment.  He sees what a dump it is and notes all the liquor bottles –Yup, he’s an alchy.  He then sees the pictures of Ana Laura plastered over the wall and realizes this dude’s not only a fortune-hunter but a stalker who’s had this developing relationship planned all along.  (Duh-duh-duhhhh!!!)

And, TinTin’s stalking Mariano right now.  He has a flashback to Gina racing over to tell him that she’s been outed as a fortune hunter and TinTin’s lover, and now Mariano Alvarez Castillo is after her, ready to kill her. Ok, back to the present and Tintin’s thinking well, now the shoe’s on the other foot and old Mo now knows what it’s like to lose the love of your life. The beauty of this though, is that TinTin didn’t have to move a finger this time cuz it was simply divine justice.  Of course, he tells himself, ol’ Mo’s hell has not even yet started!

Ram gets the phone call he’s been waiting for from Orlando.  He’s got the proof he’s been telling the truth about knowing Ana Lucia and where she is.

Iñaki suggests planning a (brown-nose-worthy) memorial for the boss’s dead fiancée.

Ev tells SanMarco he was only trying to protect Ana Lucky and her mama from the menace that is Marcelo Salvaterra.  Not to mention he did not want her to find out that he’s actually married to one of her sisters.  "--Oh yeah?  So then who was the woman in the picture you told me was my wife?"  Ev lies that she thought highly of Marco and begged Ev to save him.  It was all her idea…..And his real wife doesn’t suspect he’s really alive—or why would she continue to bring fresh flowers to his grave?  Why she was just there crying and praying on her knees only minutes before Marco showed up.

Ev insists he’s not doing anything that would put his “granddaughter” in danger.  Even though she’s not blood—anymore than Remedios is blood to Santi—there’s still a tie that binds him to Soledad, who has raised her well and given Ana Lucky a terrific happy, healthy and carefree life.  She loves her like her own.  He’s got a point there, and neither Viewerville nor SanMarco can deny it.  (We’d like to since she did pretty much kidnap the girl—but we know A Lucky'd be one messed up mental case if she’d been returned to live with scheming Ana MiMi on her back all the time.  She really did luck-out.)

Ev explains that the new Marcelo has had a chance to see the two of them regularly and observe that A Lucky isn’t a poor defenseless orphan and Soledad isn’t the monster that old Marcelo thought she was.  Now he sees the situation the same way that Evaristo saw it all along.  “—Who are we, son, to separate those two and destroy what exists between the two of them?”  --And, if Santi ever tries he’ll know what a real enemy is!  “—Oh, and the next time you point a pistol at me you won’t be so lucky.  I owed Marcelo a debt.  He saved my life once, but that debt is now paid.”  Ev walks off and Santi sees his two grandsons come walking out from the trees with pistols in their hands.

Sole is looking in the want-ads.

Ram picks up an envelope with the proof Orly promised inside it.

Ernestina and A MiMi discuss Mo’s mental state with Leonor.  She talks Erni into letting her stay with him at his house “to keep him company” for a while.  Leo isn’t havin’ it.

Up in her room, AMiMi decides to stay an entire month with Mo.  She knocks over Marcelo’s photo and then remembers the night she found Marco crying about killing someone in cold blood because he’d betrayed him.  That turned her on that night and the two made love on the couch.  She never stopped loving him but now realizes she’s better off without him.  She proceeds to break the frame to bits.

After Evaristo is gone, SanMarco has a flashback about killing some guy who stole money from him/the business?  Marcelo tells him not to talk trash about his friend and then shoots him dead as a doornail.  Splat! Kerplunk!  He checks the dead man’s pocket and finds a note “Soledad Hernandez”, then goes into the bedroom where he finds Ev tied and gagged.  He unties Ev and the guy is crying that the man killed his granddaughter and was going to kill Ev also.  Just then a woman with a little boy and a baby in her arms walks in.  The boy asks what he did to his daddy.  Santi tells himself then that he doesn’t know who that Marcelo Salvaterro was nor all the evil he might have been capable of, but he’s going to make every effort to see that he never returns ever!  With that, he throws the pistol (stoooooopid thing to do) into the river/ocean/laguna?

That night, Leonor tricks Ana Llora and takes her to show her something at the little chapel.  Ram shows up.  He gives Ana Llora her sister’s little gold I.D. bracelet [esclava].  She’s thrilled to see it.  He then tells her he’s seen a photo taken of her about a year ago.  It was the same dude who gave him this.

Mo is alone at home thinking back to a meeting with TinTin, him and Marcelo.  Marc’s reporting to TinTin (who is already in the wheelchair) that it wasn’t Mariano who was to blame; rather, it was Marcelo who trusted somebody who cheated him.  However, the man who killed Gina has now payed for what he did.  (Ok.  So scheming Gina was Ev’s blood granddaughter?  Whooooah!)

Marco leaves and Mo talks to TinTin alone.  He tells him they found out who Gina Ramirez really was, thanks to him: she was in prison for fraud. She had stolen the insurance money we’d given you for the accident you suffered on the job. Believe me we never thought things would end this way.  Mo hands TinTin a check and TinTin notes it is for much more than what she took from him.  He tears it to pieces.  “—This is the value you put on my life, on my legs?  This is the amount you put to clear your conscience for Gina’ death, for destroying my life?  I don’t want it.”  Bottom line –the day he sees the face of the woman he loves lying in a coffin, then he will begin to know how he’s destroyed TinTin’s life so completely and how he “feels.” Mo begins crying as A MiMi enters the house and tells him she’s there to keep him company for a while—a few weeks. (I truly needed a shower after this scene)

Ram explains to A Llora that he’s had to pay the guy to get the picture since she’s from a wealthy family and everyone knows this.  But, all he wants is her to believe he’s able to get ahead in life on his own and without a peso from them.  She lets him kiss her before he leaves.

Ramiro tells Leonor on the way home what he did and that he found out that Valentin’s a drunk, a pig with empty or half filled bottles lying everywhere, and he’s got a wall full of pictures of A Llora that is like some crazy homage or some such.  He doesn’t trust the guy and wants A Llora to be careful.

The next morning Yaki begs a ride from Ram and also invites him to the memorial.

Mo is at work.  The sexretary didn’t expect him.  Yaki comes in and they tell him about the memorial service they’ve planned.  Mo thanks them.  She heads to the ladies’ room and sobs about her luhhhhv for Mo.   A MiMi walks in dressed like a hooker or a slutty homage to prison uniforms of a century ago—well, definitely dressed more for a night out clubbing than for showing real estate to clients.  She immediately throws herself all over the dude—in lap dance frontal style (another scene that left me needing lye soap.)

Across town, Leonor and A Llora take a trip to the barrio to check out Ramiro’s story.  They run into TinTin on his way over to the foundation.  Isn’t he going to let them in at least?  He makes all sorts of excuses not to invite them in,  A Llora lies that she wanted to invite him to eat with the two of them.  Leo asks for a glass of water at least.  He suggests they all just go to the nice restaurant that’s close by and she can get some flavorful juice instead of a plain old glass of water. “—Yes, but since we’re already here.  Or is there some reason you don’t want us to enter your home?”  TinTin gulps hard.

Thanks, Jardinera, for a wonderful recap. It was very enjoyable.

I am really enjoying Carlos de la Mota as crazy Valentín. This is the best dramatic role I have seen him do.

As usual, I was intrigued by Evaristo and his role In all of this.

Ana Leticia is so so cold but oh so practical. I loved how she went from never having stopped loving Marcelo, to the world was better off without him, to her being better off without him.

Thanks, Jardinera. Fine job.

Good teamwork by Ramiro and Leonor. He spies Tin-Tin's apartment and she tries her best to get invited in. Tin-Tin must know the exact layout and number of photos in his crazy Ana Laura montage. As soon as he saw all was there, he didn't seem to wonder about the broken window.

Finding it hard to believe Marcelo killed an unarmed man. Never heard of amnesia changing someone's personality. If Santi is a nice guy now, wouldn't he have been a nice guy before?

Just a random question...If Ana Leticia were to go against Teresa, who do you think would win?

Thanks Jardinera, loved your recap. I felt yucky to watching A Let practically humping her uncle. Wardrobe could have given her a classier and provactive look still, it is not realistic that her uncle and family would allow her to go show real estate looking like a hooker, they went overboard. Way over.

It is so odd that Inaki and Leonarda are the only one's that raise an eyebrow with her seductive behavior with Mo.

Why hasnt Mo ever addressed it? Makes me want to scream. She is going for a month to seduce him even if she needs to get him drunk.

I would say she is cold hearted, except she doesn't have a heart.

Anon at 3:04. I think A Let would win, I could be wrong Teresa was horrible horrible, but I don't remember her killing anyone.

Leticia

Anon 4:12. You are right, I don't think Teresa killed anyone, but I feel like Teresa was very smart and tactical. She plans ahead, but on the other hand Ana Leticia is very impulsive in her dealings, she doesn't actually think about the repercussions of her actions I think, although she does have good timing and luck that is why she hasn't been caught just yet.I feel like Teresa would slowly destroy her, but then Ana Leticia seems like someone who won't back down from a fight, if she wants something she must get it...ahhh I dont't know who would win, they both are good contenders

Geat work, Jardinera. I also felt like I needed a shower after AnaMeMeMe's attempts at seduction. I hope that black and white outfit makes a reappearance tonight so I can screen-grab it for the next edition of Crimes of Fashion.

I mostly agree with Anonymous at 4:59AM.

Teresa didn't kill her jerk classmate directly but she did send a drug dealer to him to prey on his weakness and he died of an overdose. Since Teresa was capable of taking the long view she should have seen that it could end that way. I don't recall her feeling much remorse over it. However, AnaMeMeMe wouldn't even think about it; she'd shoot to kill and then worry about possibly being caught.

Where did Orlando get that bracelet? I can't believe that Evaristo arranged this knowing that Ramiro would hand it over to someone related to Ana Lucia.

Just getting a chance to read this Jardinera. Wow, not surprised you needed some lye soap after this one. Yes, the scene where AnaLeticia is turned on by Marcelo's confession of cold-blooded killing was gag-worthy. As for her office get-up, reminded me of Doris' sidebar comment about slutty office attire in these telenovelas, ending with on Casual Fridays they probably show up in their underwear. Her outfit was definitely of the underwear caliber. Have to salute that body though. She sure can carry off skimpy like a pro.

Thanks for a funny, very enjoyable recap my friend. Also like the TinTin moniker.

Thanks Jardinera! Loved all the commentary on AnaLet and her tio. It was truly gag worthy, and the writers pushed way past the limits of ridiculousness by having this grown woman in hooker wear sit on her uncle's lap, in front of other people no less!

From the flashback it seems Marcelo believed the guy had killed Gina and hurt Ev. Still, to shoot him instead of just knocking him out, tying him up, and taking him to the authorities was over the top. We know all of this was likely some elaborate set up and manipulation by Ev, and I think the guy was trying to tell Marcelo this. In any case, I don't think Marcelo was evil (otherwise he wouldn't have been so broken up about it), but I do believe he was manipulated into believing that guy deserved to die.

Ramiro is getting a bit smarter. Not telling AnaLlora what he discovered about Val but instead getting Leonor on the case, was the best option. I hope he starts working Google/Busco to try to find out who this guy is.

I wonder what Ev's end game is by sending the bracelet to Ramiro? I wonder what his end game is, period. I'm getting a little sick of him being involved in every and all bad events in all of the characters' lives and ten steps ahead of them all.

Yeah, I'm reserving judgement on that until we get more info.

Good move on Ramiro's part about getting Leonor involved. Both of them need to look into this. I must have said this before, but is it possible that Valentin is faking the paralysis? That he recovered but didn't tell anyone?

Niece In MD:

If Santi is a nice guy now, wouldn't he have been a nice guy before? --IMHO, he was. He cried over killing another human being, especially with the little boy asking him what had he done to his papi. He tried being a brut but just couldn't be. He could kill in a matter of life or death but not in cold blood.

Vivi:

I have to admit I was fairly dizzy listening to Evaristo's twisting so many of the facts to his advantage that I began to get a headache myself-just as big and bad as Santi's. I had to listen two or three times to the scene and then rered the CC to make sure I had understood and could tell the lies from the half-truths! As for the bracelet, I couldn't understand what Evaristo was allowing this for either--unless he wants A Lucia to inherit somehow on the sly-or to get the reward himself for "having found" the long-lost heiress.

Jarifa: Carlos de la Mota as crazy Valentín--Last I saw him in a role as a true romantic BFF to a hero. This time he's got a great dramatic role to stretch his acting legs with. He is not leading man material, but he did well in LQLVMR and I am finding him truly believable in this stalker role as well.

Urban: Yes, a crime of fashion in oh so many ways......je-je.

Judy B: re: jailhouse stripes: the visual was overwhelming and the phrase jail-bait wouldn't stop rolling around in my noggin. I have to admit too, I cannot remember ever feeling quite as slimy after a scene about implied seduction as after this one. I keep thinking of its being a perfect example once again of the effete elite or the effluent affluent.....

Anonymous/Leticia: Teresa had a conscience and felt guilt and shame at times. A-MiMi was born without a conscience and doesn't think twice about killing--even gets off on it sexually. Teresa was a brilliant lawyer in the end who can see the chess board a number of plays ahead. A-MiMi is too selfish a psychopath to see more than a step or two ahead of what she wants. She doesn't think past the immediate consequences of her most urgent desire at the time. Witness her parents' death and her plot to kill Marcelo. I think we'll realize by the time this is over that A-MiMi won't have foreseen her consequence of Jennifer's death whereas a deliberate planner like Teresa c/would have.

Ok. I think I've finally got the majority of typos handled. Sorry about that.

Wonderful recap Jardinera!

Ev's facility with manipulating lies is a true gift but they really don't pass the smell test.

Ram is getting smarter but I can see Val taking Leo out before she steps one foot into his place. Super creepy when he was counting the photos to make sure they were all there.

I have now softened towards Mariano. His reaction to Jenny's death and then his effort to help Val after Gina died showed that there is a heart in there that isn't purely selfish. I can't understand why Val continued to blame everyone but Gina for his situation.

Yeah I think Ev must have manipulated Marcelo to kill that guy but we just don't have enough information yet.

Urban, AnaLet has had so many crimes of fashion so far you could put together a book! I'm not sure we can even consider her outfits hooker chic. Just hooker.

Thanks, Jardinera. I'm still doing my best to follow along with recaps only.

I had forgotten about the OD that Teresa orchestrated. You are so right, she has smart and had a conscience.

I do remember Teresa's seduction of Rulli's character best friend. She was in hospital with neck brace and hospital gown. She asked him to rub her neck while she made sexy noises and you could tell he was putty in her hands after that. I thought Wow, she played that really well. She had the art of seduction down, even in her neck brace.

Cant stand to see Ev. I like Mr De Castillo, but not in this despicable role.

Leticia

I think Ana Leticia would get the better of Teresa in the short term (and in a fist fight) but Teresa would play and win the long game. I think in the end Teresa would have 3xAna's Mariano in her bed and Ana Leticia's money in her bank account.
