Sueño de Amor (SdA) #84. Tuesday July 12, 2016. Lust Is In The Air. Saliva Everywhere. Esperanza In Despair. Ricardo Doesn’t Care.

I hope she gives you, at the very very least, aggressive periodontitis!

Hello Patio Pals! We’ll have to make do with a summary until a volunteer takes over this recapping spot.

Salma and Kiko contemplate for a brief moment the possibility of raising Salma’s unborn kid together: Two babies raising a baby on love and the revenue of a lemonade stand! Salma concedes that, fantasies aside, the best option is to give her baby up for adoption. Not if Márgara has anything to say about it! Buckle up for 6 months’ worth of nagging, guilt-tripping, sermons and emotional blackmail!

Adrián visits Esperanza and she explains to him why she couldn’t tell him about her illness. She also praises Ernesto for his unwavering support.

Cristina Vélez Valderrama (CVV) and her daughter move out of Casa Alegría.

Pato the whining chatterbox (tarabilla) is regurgitating the same rubbish about Luca, the baby, Anastasia. Naggedy nag nag nag. Esperanza is just delighted with it all. It’s the meds, I tell ya!

The next morning outside the Principal’s office at Instituto Palacios, CVV and Tricky Ricky play tonsil tennis long enough for Esperanza to arrive and see them. I bet staying at home doesn’t sound so depressing now, does it, Espe?

In addition to snogging subordinates during office hours, CVV plans to design a special training course (curso de capacitación) for the teachers of the Palacios.

Pato flunked her Physics test and risks losing her scholarship. She spots her mom crying in the hallway and runs after her.

Ernesto visits CVV to transfer Adrián there. I told you the Vasconcelos is a goner! Sniff sniff! :(

Esperanza cries in the bathroom because the man she loved and pined over for two long decades has taken all of 7 weeks to get over her and has already started sucking face in public with the first blond hotsy-totsy that gave him the time of day. “Don’t you think it’s too early?”, asks the heartbroken maestra. Pato doesn’t mince her words: “Well, this is what you wanted, Mapa. You wanted Ricardo to move on and you wanted to return to school.” On a tangential note, Instituto Palacios has wifi in the loo! Isn’t this just amazeballs?

Ricardo writes a love note to CVV during class. He makes sure he specifies that he is not distracted during working hours. His students are sitting an exam, that’s why he happens to have this much free time on his hands. He mentions in the note that two-faced Márgara told him he had a light in his eyes and he believes she is right. CVV is the reason he is happy.

In the hallway, Félix welcomes Esperanza back to the Palacios and comments on her weight loss. She gives him the official new lie she agreed with Pato: Esperanza is on a very strict diet. Ricardo overhears the convo and mocks her: “So you’re on a diet to look good for Ernesto? Well, I now realize that I have nothing to say to you. Have a good day!”

Detective Rentería questions Ernesto about Murillo. Ernesto points him to Kracy: She had dealings with the deceased, she owns a 9 millimeter and she is batnuts crazy.

Back at the Palacios, Pedro seriously considers whether he should stop Kristel from traveling or not. He ought to be hung upside down from his man-bun to help blood reach his brain.

Esperanza’s pupils are glad to have her back. Salma notices the maestra is looking skinnier. Félix hand-delivers Esperanza’s wedding invitation. It features a cartoon version of the happy couple’s faces. Bigotitos is marrying his sugar grammy on Saturday. Viviana and Mario will be tying the knot during the same ceremony. Félix insists Esperanza must attend the boda doble

Ernesto has a new Murillo. His name is Regino. His mission is to locate Kracy and make her disappear.

Félix invites CVV and the Gallo family to the wedding on Saturday. CVV announces that the Gallo kids have been accepted into the scholarship program of Instituto Palacios. Kiko will jump two classes to join Salma and Estrella’s class. Kiko and Estrella are so excited they give CVV a Rooster Hug! ¡Abrazo Gallo!

Mario and Salma will move in with Viviana, Luca and Adrián after the wedding. Adrián and Estrella are not happy about this.

Esperanza is at the hospital to receive her first chemo session. As if chemo wasn’t terrible enough, a video plays on a loop, showing perfectly healthy people who tell cancer patients how they should feel: Stay strong and have faith! These are the best cures for cancer! Patronizing, much? It sounds rather depressing to have to put up with that annoying video at every chemo session.

Adrián gives Estrella a smartphone.

Viviana tells Mario about the cubic zirconia.

Silvana buys two garbage bags-worth of something that she will use to sabotage the wedding. We’ll find out on the day of the boda doble

Ricardo apologizes to CVV for continuing to “suffer for another woman”, but he can’t help it, he is still mad at Esperanza. Besides, he prefers to tell CVV the truth, instead of lying or hiding his true feelings. CVV understands that Ricardo comes with a past and she is happy to accept the whole package because he is a marvelous man. Besides, if Ricardo is mad at Esperanza, this means he moved on from feeling love to feeling anger. Ricardo says he feels an unstoppable attraction for CVV and he can’t stop thinking about her. They fawn over each other and inflate one another’s ego. These two bozos are two peas in a pod.

Esperanza meets Raquel, her new chemo buddy. Raquel is depressed because she is alone and estranged from her family. When Ernesto arrives, Raquel comments: “Your husband is gorgeous!”. “He is not my hubby, corrects Esperanza. “What are you waiting for?”, inquires Raquel, “Here you have proof that life is fleeting”. Esperanza’s eyes fill up with tears. She looks the other way to avoid Raquel’s sad gaze.

A quote from the capítulo

“(...) pienso en ti muchas veces al día. Si me pagaran sólo un peso por cada segundo que te cruzas en mi mente, ya sería millonario. Tengo una irrefrenable atracción hacia ti. Hay algo... Algo que me une a ti.

*Tricky Ricky sweet-talks his new conquest because, you know, those panties aren’t going to drop themselves: “(...) I think of you many times a day. If I were to be paid one peso only for every second that you cross my mind, I would already be a millionaire. I feel an unstoppable attraction for you. There is something... Something that connects me to you.”

Your viewing vocabulario

Hellow amigowz! Apologies for the lateness but I was on a mad rush to catch up with this and Yago.

Thank you Diana, Julia, Emeraldrose and Nina for stopping by yesterday's thread and sorry I couldn't acknowledge/interact with your comments as I would've wanted. Things are a bit manic this week.

Susanlynn and JudyB, cheers for popping in yesterday to leave such sweet greetings! :)

Enjoy the discussion! Catch you soon! :)

Thanks Nandicta!

The pictures you choose and the footnotes are getting better every day, thanks again!

I thought ''playing tonsil tennis'' was funny until I read ''those panties are not going to drop themselves'' I almost needed newspaper on the floor!!

I noticed the same things you did, among them:

The daily optimistic note on the little board said: Miracles happen with love.

When I saw Esperanza grabbing the empty space where her stomach once was, I was praying VdelaP so nobody was playing futbol nearby and hit her, in those circumstances, anything unexpected could be fatal... I am no expert, but without stomach, eating juaréver she is allowed besides tons of ensure and other liquids, why isn't she thinner?

Also, she wants to prove herself capable of fighting as a warrior, but the only thing she made me feel was pity (anda dando lástima).
Esperanza is now ''la gata flora'' cry because she did and cry because she didn't.

Yes! We have Guifi in the bathroom! Now Estrella will be able to use her phone! She should have asked Adrián, thanks, but who is going to pay for the service?

I am sure Adriá could have used protection, but he didn't have a say in his rape.

Quintina escaped from the Popeye movie.

The mexican saying goes: Del rayo hay quien se salve, pero de la raya no.
There's a line in everybody's life that can not be passed. From lightning you can survive, but not from the line.

It is indeed very easy to speak of something that is not affecting you with optimism. Why not use people like Raquel in those hideous videos that should be used only in private sessions with newbies so they can start understanding the whole deal of the positive attitude? Pretty boys and girls telling me that I am making a big deal of something that can be solved with the power of my mind is the last thing I want to see when receiving this therapy.

And lastly, why all about to die people have to give love advise to the living even not knowing them? Iker did it and now this woman... Now Esperanza will have to follow her instructions because as she is abut to die, she deserves the trust and the confidence?

Thank you, Nandicta! The commentary about Ricardo's seduction was indeed very funny. Yeah, I'll bet he's drawn to something about her...and we can all guess what it is.

If I were stuck in a chair for chemo watching some patronizing video like that, I'd probably chuck my purse at the screen to break it and make it stop. SO not helpful. Not to mention, studies have shown that "keeping a positive attitude" has absolutely no effect on treatment outcome, and being coerced into suppressing the anger and sadness and fear and everything else that comes with a life-threatening illness can actually make patients worse off than if they talk about those things. Why would you want to increase a sick person's stress by telling them they have to act cheery on top of everything else? UGH. Now, if only they'd pull the usual telenovela trick and have the doctor tell Pato she isn't allowed to whine to Esperanza or complain about HER stupid problems! That would actually be helpful! At least for the audience. Chucking all the Nerfazos at Pato.

Pablo, thanks for that saying.

Nandicta: Thank you very much for the recap.

Laughed at the "Lust Is In The Air" title stealer LOL.

Ricardo & Goldie Locks making out while Esperanza is looking in despair!

Nandicta, your vocabulary was perfect. You've joined the ranks with other esteemed recappers (Sylvia and Judy among others) who took the time and care to share these conversational gems with us.

"In addition to snogging subordinates during office hours" and "They fawn over each other and inflate one another’s ego. These two bozos are two peas in a pod" were among many favorites.

I am hoping this turns on a dime and that Esperanza is happy ere the end. It doesn't matter what I want, but I would like to see Espe reunited with Ricardo if that is truly her heart's desire (I'm still holding onto the dear doctor but)...

I can't abide looking at Kristel or Pato - at all. And, for no apparent reason, I've lost any sense of humor about the man bun. It's really starting to annoy me. It's way past chalk on a blackboard.

"Detective Rentería questions Ernesto about Murillo. Ernesto points him to Kracy: She had dealings with the deceased, she owns a 9 millimeter and she is batnuts crazy". Yes, and there you have it. I fear once Tracy is arrested, we will have much wailing and gnashing of teeth. :)

Nandicta, despite everything, I do want to see what happens in the end. I'm also pulling for Estrella and Adrian even though I know they would have no chance in the real world. And, it is just so strange that Adrian's son's mother is Kiko's sister. Talk about a tangled web!

Thank you so very much.

Diana

Thanks, Nandicta. This was great. I am on the run. A very few comments.

I could not stand the way they all just stared at the other chemo patient.

Good comment, Pablo, about the people in the video but I would add people in general being able to speak with such optimism in such a dire situation when it is not happening to them..

Have I said how much I hate this story line? Probably one too many times.

Enjoyed the recap Nandicta. Why is espy so surprised that ricardo is with someone else? As I recall the woman was down right ucruel to this man. On their wedding day." I don't love you anymore", I faked it when we were together". She was pretty cruel. And then threw erny in his face. I would want to forget that kind of pain too. Pato reminded her she wanted him to move on, and moved on he did. Even tho he loves her still, he always thinkin of cristy girl. What is this orsorio guy doing with this story? Get our hopes up and then......BAM!!!!!! Crazy story tellin starts.

Well atleast silvana(I think thats her name, mario's fiance) is on to vivana about trying to sabotage the weddings. These People are hopelessly nutjobs. Ok, until tomorrows summary/recap. Thanks Nandicta.

Gracias Pablo, Julia, Steve, Diana, Jarifa and Nina for taking the time to read and comment. Much appreciated, indeed! :)
