Yago #29. Monday July 4, 2016. The Sprinkler Sprinkled, The Hunter Hunted, The Betrayer Betrayed

Resting Iván Sánchez face
At a glance

-- To put it politely: This fecal matter just got real!

A closer look

Lucio is arrested outside Casa Guerrero just as he and Matías were preparing to flee the country. Matías is distressed by the scene and keeps tearfully asking: “What’s happening, Papá?”. He bangs on the police car window and pleads with the officers not to take his daddy away because “he didn’t do anything”. Lucio reassures his son that everything is going to be alright. The poor kid continues to cry while Sara tries to console him. Yago observes the scene silently and thinks to himself: “There are moments that haunt you (perseguir) all your life and this is one of them. I know that I’ll never forget the sorrowful expression of Matías when he saw the man he thinks is his father being apprehended. I knew that my revenge would cause collateral damage (daños colaterales) but I never imagined hurting my own son”.

At the wood cabin, Abel goes well, well, well what have we here? Teo admits that Katia is the famous girl that has been driving him mad (traer de cabeza). Katia pleads with Abel to keep quiet because, if Yago finds out she has been mixing business with pleasure, she’ll get into a heap of trouble. She leaves. Abel is pretty ticked off: “How could you fall in love with Yago’s right-hand person?” Teo apologizes but he can’t help it, this girl has turned him into a randy teenager. Abel is worried she’ll use Teo to get information to her boss about Lucio, Sara and himself. “Did you tell her about the security guard?”, asks Abel, panicked. Off course not! Teo is adamant he isn’t a traitor.

At Casa Guerrero, Matías is a little calmer but he continues to wonder what’s wrong. Why was his father arrested if he hasn’t done anything wrong? Sara replies that daddy’s business dealings are complicated. Yago says he called the lawyer and Jonás reiterates Lucio’s innocence. Sara announces it’s time to go. Matías wonders where to since they don’t even have a house. He prefers to stay with Melina and Jonás. Sara disagrees. Matías is angry at her and insists he won’t go with her unless she takes him by force. Sara leaves Casa Guerrero with Yago. She is backpedalling on the plan to get rid of Lucio. She’s the one who wants to leave Lucio, not Matías. The kid adores his father and Lucio is a great dad. Sara adds that Yago doesn’t know what it’s like to see one’s child suffer. Besides, she doesn't want her son to hate her. Yago places a comforting hand on her cheek: “How can Matías hate you if you’re his mom?”

Teo catches up to Katia. “So it turns out I’m the girl...” “Who’s driving me crazy” adds Teo. “Did Abel believe this lie?”, she asks. “It’s easy to believe a lie when it’s full of truths”, he says seductively as he moves in for a kiss that Katia dodges. She’s worried that she’s putting Yago at risk again with her reckless behavior. Teo assures her they’re not doing anything wrong. She agrees but what if this compromises Teo’s position with Abel? No worries, Teo knows how to handle Abel. What about Yago? Katia wonders how they will handle him.

At Casa Guerrero, Matías is concerned about his father: “My dad needs me and I’m here doing homework!” Isn’t this boy just the sweetest thing? Jonás promises he’ll visit Lucio today and let Matías know that everything is fine. Melina overhears their conversation and pulls Jonás aside: “Wait a few days before visiting Lucio”. Jonás protests: “But in a few days, Lucio will be released! He’s innocent!” Melina retorts that Omar was also innocent but he wasn’t released in a few days!

Back at the wood cabin, Abel sees dominoes on a table and reminisces about his last game with Lorenzo. As if invoked by the memory, Lorenzo’s ghost appears seated at that very table: “You lied to me! You made me believe you were my friend but you are nothing but a murderer!” Abel is understandably freaked out by the vision and he begs Lorenzo to forgive him. He never meant for things to go with Lorenzo the way they went with his dad. Lorenzo’s ghost yells “Murderer!” several times. Abel runs out of the cabaña then crawls and writhes on the grass, screaming “Forgive me!” to the ghost that his guilty conscience summoned.

At Casa Michell, Julia is still in a huff over her house arrest. Her dad comes into her room trying to lighten the mood and joking he has a hippie daughter. Julia wants to know how long she is to be imprisoned at home. Until her father kills the enemy who hounds him? “Do I look like a killer to you?”, asks Camilo. “Well, if you don’t kill him, I will!”, threatens Julia. Camilo dismisses this as a mere joke. He announces that he invited her friends Yago and Ámbar to a dinner party. Julia can invite anyone else she wants. “What are you cooking up with Yago?”, asks Julia. Camilo assures her that nothing is going on with Yago. Julia is back on the offensive: She demands to know the truth about her father’s invisible enemies. He evades answering once again. She asks him to either spill the beans or get out.

Visiting Lucio in jail brings back bad memories for Yago. Images of Omar’s ordeal flash before his eyes.

Back at Casa Michell, Camilo is ready to reveal the truth to Julia. His version of it. He tells her that Fidel Yampolski may have the face of a friendly old man (viejito bonachón) but he is a dangerous criminal. Sometimes the best of friends can become the worst of enemies. Fidel and Camilo were very close, they built an empire together, but Fidel got involved in illegal activities and Camilo refuses to be business partners with a criminal!

At Yago’s lair, Ámbar offers her big sister a cup of tea and a shoulder to cry on. Sara is worried about her son. He’s been acting brave since his kidnapping but Sara saw him fall apart today. Ámbar assures Sara that everything will turn out OK, Lucio has a lot of resources. “I don’t know about that”, says Sara “Lucio has gotten involved with the wrong people this time”. Yes, you and your lover! Ámbar apologizes for asking Sara to go to a hotel.

Back at Casa Michell, Camilo is piling on the baloney: “I made a lot of mistakes, I won’t lie to you. I betrayed this man, stole his money, put him in jail. I ordered that he be tortured without being killed and that he be mistreated. Now he is trying to take his revenge. That’s why I didn’t want to tell you the truth. I didn’t want you to have this image of your father.” Julia hugs her dad and thanks him for telling her the truth.

Back at Yago’s lair, Ámbar says that she and her sister have faced a lot of hardships together and this one is no exception. They’ll get through this together, like sisters who share everything! Ámbar announces that she has decided to undergo a surgical operation in order to live her life fully at Yago’s side. Sara’s smile says: No you won’t! Not if I have anything to do with it!

At the Mexican Sing Sing, Lucio is the worse for wear. Yago says he is here to help. Lucio wants to know if Yago snitched to the police. Good friends don’t betray each other, much less call the police on one another, replies Yago. “What were you doing with Sara?”, asks Lucio. “The same thing I’m doing here: Providing support”, replies Yago. He adds: “They say that here, in these places, one realizes who are one’s real friends. I called your lawyer. He is on his way”. Lucio doesn’t look convinced: “What do you gain with all of this?”

Bruno tries to report Alejandra’s disappearance to the police but the officer says 72 hours need to pass and Bruno isn’t her husband or a family member to speed up the process. Bruno maintains Alejandra is in danger. The police officer figures maybe she’s gone off somewhere and doesn't want her boyfriend to know. That’s how women are, according to the misogynistic officer.

Yago meets Jonás on his way out of the visitation room at the Mexican Sing Sing. Jonás has come to visit Lucio in the place where he refused to visit Omar some 12 years ago. He thanks Yago for his help and declares: “Lucio is like a son to me”. Twist the knife, why don’t you! Yago sees his father hug the man who usurped his life.

Damián the cockroach barges uninvited into the office of Tomás the loan shark. He wants to know whether the info he provided about Yago’s connection to Fidel reached its destination up the chain of command. Damián also asks to meet the Big Kahuna because, no offense, he doesn’t like intermediaries. Tomás takes two bundles of cash out of his desk drawer and outlines two crucial points: a) he’s no intermediary, he’s Damián’s boss and b) this dinero is an incentive for Damián to continue gathering intelligence on Yago.

At Casa Yampolski, Selma and Fidel toast Yago’s victory and long for the moment when they too can savor their own. They ask Yago whether things advanced with Camilo. Nope, he replies. They notice Yago doesn’t look as happy as he ought to be.

At Canta Canta, Lucio’s lawyer informs his screwed client that his signature is on every document, so he offers him the classic lawyerly advice: Deny deny deny! Deny you were ever with Fidel, deny you ever agreed to partner up with him and deny the signature on those documents is yours. Mauricio the legal mastermind plans to base Lucio’s defense on character evidence demonstrating to the judge that Lucio is an honorable man (un hombre recto), a good husband and a devoted father. This line of defense needs a stellar testimony from Sara. Bahahaha! Lucio is screwed and he knows it. Mauricio advises him to do everything he can to patch things up with his wife.

Back at Casa Yampolski, Yago confesses he feels bad that Jonás visited Lucio in jail when he never did it when Omar was imprisoned. “Don’t let your victories be ruined by Omar’s memories”, says Fidel. Selma thinks Jonás is not visiting Lucio in jail, he is visiting Omar. Jonás is trying to atone for his sins (expiar sus culpas). Katia and Teo show up. “This is starting to look like a support group!”, jokes Fidel.

At Casa Guerrero, Bruno is consumed by angst over Alejandra’s disappearance and pretty convinced that she is nowhere to be found precisely because she discovered something about Lucio. Melina informs him that Lucio has been taken into custody a few hours earlier.

“So you two are...?” Yago was pulled to one side on the Yampolskis’ roof to be told the delicate matter of his sidekicks boinking. “Yes, we are dating!”, declares Teo. “Yes, it was a stupid thing, an impulse!”, notes Katia at the exact same time. “I like the fact that you’re in agreement”, says Yago. He worries that Abel will mistrust Teo after discovering Katia at the cabin. “I’m sure I can still regain his trust”, insists Teo. “You’re taking too much time”, retorts Yago, then he turns to Katia: “And you, don’t disappear like this again because I start thinking the worse!” He tells her he needs her to investigate Alejandra’s disappearance. The girl’s life is in danger.

At Canta Canta, the parade of Lucio’s visitors continues. It’s Damián’s turn now: “What’s up yernito/son-in-law? Are you being taken care of? Have you ordered your room service yet or did you just check in?” Lucio is not amused. Damián says he would not have missed this show for anything but the real reason behind his visit is not to mock Lucio. What he is looking for is clarity: Now that Lucio is stuck in the can (entambado), Damián supposes he’s next in line to grace prison with his presence. “No, Damián, take it easy! You will pay for everything when you get to Hell!” Lucio clarifies that he is not jailed because of the business that he and his father-in-law did in the past.

Back at Casa Yampolski, Katia apologizes to Selma for rejecting her help earlier. She accepts Katia's offer to be her sponsor and accompany her on her journey towards sobriety. Yago warns Teo that Katia is very important to him and that he doesn’t want her to get hurt, especially in her current fragile state. Teo tells Yago that he has no reason to discuss his personal life with him and he never intends to hurt Katia. End of “work discussion”.

Back at Canta Canta, Damián quizzes Lucio over Fidel Yampolski: How did Lucio get involved with the guy whose casino they robbed many years ago? Yago is the reason. “The gachupín/Spaniard! That one shows up even in the soup! Right, yernito? Careful, he might turn out to be venemous!” snorts Damián. Lucio doubts Yago will harm him. Even if Yago is connected to Fidel? wonders Damián. “Who sent you to conduct this interrogatory? I know you!”, asks Lucio. “If you know me then you know very well that I won’t reply!”, says Damián. Lucio is willing to answer Damián’s questions but he has one condition: He needs to see Sara. Damián must convince her.

Yago phones Ámbar to inform her of Camilo Michell’s formal dinner invitation. Ámbar finds this odd: She has known Julia for many years and has never gotten invited to Casa Michell. What does Camilo want with Yago? she wonders. Maybe court him, jokes Yago, or perhaps give him the once-over as Julia’s newest acquaintance. Ámbar wonders if she should wear something formal. Yago tells her she always looks gorgeous no matter what she has on. Ámbar flirts and giggles over the phone. Sara glares daggers at her younger sister.

Katia and Teo are rummaging through Alejandra’s place to find any clues that would help them locate her. Teo relays to Katia his earlier conversation with Yago about their nascent romance but she shuts him down: Back to work! Katia finds the briefcase that contains the information and fake IDs of the scams Alejandra ran with Damián. Katia concludes that the young woman wanted to play hunter with Damián and wound up getting hunted.

Damián meets Sara at their usual café and tries to convince her to visit her husband in prison. He reminds her that she and Lucio are married in community of property (casados por bienes mancomunados). If she makes her husband angry, he could drag her into his legal problems by accusing her of criminal conspiracy (asociación delictuosa), or at the very least, of being an accessory after the fact (encubrimiento). The master manipulator convinces his princesa to reconcile with Lucio. It’s in her best interest.

At Yago’s lair, Ámbar receives a visit: It’s Abel. He has wanted to see her for several days now. He begins to tell her that Lorenzo is no longer with him. Ámbar acts distant and unfriendly. Abel wonders if she is mad at him for something. “I thought you were my friend”, she says, her voice full of reproach. Sara told her everything: The casino heist, the fact that Abel killed a security guard. Abel wants to tell Ámbar his version of what happened that night: He killed the guard by accident. Ámbar doesn’t want to hear it. Did he or did he not kill a man that night? He admits he did. Ámbar doesn’t want to talk to him ever again. Abel has lost his pumpkin forever. He goes home drunk to find Teo there. He sarcastically apologizes to Teo for not staging another botched suicide scene for his benefit. Abel feels he should’ve repaid Sara for blabbing right there and then by revealing her affair with Yago. He takes out his phone to call Ámbar and tell her the truth about her disgusting sister. Teo stops him: He can’t break Ámbar’s heart like that. Abel agrees: He can’t hurt her, especially when she’s about to undergo life-saving surgery. Abel blames Yago for all their latest misfortunes. Ever since he showed up, things began to go awry. Teo offers to use his girlfriend Katia to get information on Yago.

At Casa Michell, an awkward dinner party for four is underway. Camilo states the obvious and says that he is not very social. He starts asking Yago questions about his business in Punta Azul and Lucio’s legal troubles. Julia gently scolds her dad for talking business at the table. These are the moments where Julia misses her mom because she would never have allowed this. “Surely she would have had me washing up the dishes (lavar trastes) for my bad behavior!”, jokes Camilo.

At Canta Canta, a reluctant and sexless conjugal visit is underway. Lucio apologizes for smacking Sara. He also clarifies that he never intended to take Mati away, he just wanted to see his son, that’s all. Sara is eager to cut to the chase: “What do you want?” Lucio admits she was right: He should never have done business with those rats. Sara believes she and Lucio are paying for what they did in the past. Lucio says he needs her, they’ve always made a great team. He needs her testimony to get out of jail. He acknowledges that their relationship has been complicated but he loves her. He reminds her of all the things he did for her: Marrying her cheating lying behind, paying for Ámbar’s operation, being a devoted father to Matías, even though he is Omar’s son. Yes, Lucio knew the truth about Mati’s paternity all these years! Dun dun duuun! If the empress of lies and deceit is majorly impactada by this major reveal, she doesn’t show it at all. Perfect poker face, save for one single teardrop sliding down her icy facade. Lucio’s eyes are gleaming with tears as he pleads: “I knew it and it didn’t matter to me! Because Matías is mine! Mine! Matías is my son! It didn’t matter because I love you. If you ever loved me at one point, help me! Please help me!”

At Casa Michell, the small dinner party is  having after-dinner drinks. Yago compliments Camilo’s house. Camilo brings up Fidel. Where does Yago know him from? Fidel is Yago’s business partner. The worst business partner ever, declares Camilo. He warns Yago against Fidel, who is sinking day after day. Does Yago want to sink with Fidel? asks Camilo. He offers Yago to dump Fidel and partner up with him instead.

It’s the next morning. Yago brings Sara her coffee to the balcony and plants a kiss on her cheek. Sara tells him to be careful, Ámbar could see them. “Are you saying this for Ámbar or because you saw Lucio yesterday?” asks Yago. Sara says she can’t go ahead with their plan. She simply can’t help Yago sink Lucio.

Katia and Teo visit Silvia, the millionaire lady that Alejandra and Damián tried to swindle a while back.

Yago visits Camilo and admires his orchids, including a carnivorous one. Camilo explains the process by which the plant catches and devours flies. Yago wonders if this is a metaphor for something. Camilo says he is not an adept of cheap metaphors, unlike Yago’s little friend, Fidel Yampolski. Speaking of which, what is Yago’s answer to Camilo’s business proposal? Yago begins his speech by explaining how much he owes Fidel and... Bla bla bla, interrupts Camilo. No embellishments, get to the point! Yago accepts to become Camilo’s new partner. “And what’s your proof of loyalty?”, asks Camilo. “I will hand you Fidel Yampolski!”, replies Yago. Camilo will finally have the fly inside his carnivorous plant and he is practically salivating at the prospect. He even starts imitating flamenco dancers: “¡Olé! ¡Venga! Hahaha! Do you dance flamenco, Yago?” “Not much but I put in the effort!”, replies the fake Spaniard.

Silvia tells Katia and Teo what she knows about Damián and Alejandra. She contracted Damián to locate her lost granddaughter and universal heiress, Alicia. He came back with Alejandra, who confessed the truth about the scam at the last minute. Y tan tan. End of story. Silvia conveniently leaves out the part where she hit Damián with her car. Anyhoo. She offers Katia and Teo something to drink, something of the strong kind. Katia declines and asks for a glass of water. Silvia thinks ordering water instead of the fine liquors she has just enumerated is all too sad.

At Casa Yampolski, Fidel is getting ready for his meeting with Yago. Selma has a bad feeling about this: Why can’t Yago meet Fidel at the house, as usual? What’s the impediment? Why meet outside? Fidel reassures his wife that everything will be fine.

Yago drives to an isolated area, the place of his rendez-vous with Fidel. He finds his mentor already waiting for him. “Why all the mystery, Yago?”, wonders Fidel. Camilo steps out of Yago’s car: “Fidel! How are you? Long time no see!” Fidel stares bullets at Yago: “You betrayed me!” Yago says: “Fidel, one day you told me that, in order to survive in this world, one has to get together with the strongest” and he looks at Camilo for emphasis. Camilo is as smug as can be: “You send drones to my house. You send Yago to get in with my daughter for who knows what purpose. Fidel, you’re old!” Fidel pulls out a gun: “I think the day to settle all our scores has arrived, Camilo!” Camilo smirks and points to the gang of armed goons that arrived to circle Fidel from behind. Yago furrows his brows and observes the scene without uttering a single word. ¡Jaque mate! Checkmate!

A quote from the capítulo

“¡Qué caray! Se me hace que esta chava quiso jugar al cazador con Damián y terminó cazada.”*

*Katia correctly diagnoses the root cause of all of Alejandra’s troubles: “Blimey! It seems to me that this girl wanted to play hunter with Damián and ended up getting hunted.”

Happy belated birthday, Estados Unidos! Hope you all enjoyed your national holiday!

Thank you Julie and Countx for your excellent recaps of Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

Welcome Jaago! We're happy to have you with us! Just remember that discussing events that happened in the previous version of this series is strictly prohibited. We are analysing characters and events purely based on what is currently happening in this present version and you are free to jump in with your own opinion any time you want, so long as you adhere to the aformentioned guidelines.

Enjoy the first part of the recap. I'll watch the second half of the episode and post its recap by 9 pm EDT.

Thanks Nandicta! Looking forward to part 2. I still have this small spark of hope that Ale is alive since her body hasn't been found. Would be great if Katia somehow traced her down.

Thank you so much, Nandicta. A wonderful part 1! Looking forward to the rest.

Yago really was foolish to not realize how he would be hurting Mati by destroying his parents, especially his most dear parent, Lucio.

What is Yago playing at, not telling Fidel that Camilo summoned him to dinner, and then leading him right into that trap? I'm sure he doesn't intend to get Fidel killed, and I do derive a certain pleasure from seeing Fidel being left in the dark and then surprised. But, I don't want Camilo to win any points. Camilo was very good at mixing truth with lies to justify his behavior to Julia.

Poor Bruno is so heartbroken and worried sick. I wanted to smash something over the head of that cop. OK. Here's my crazy theory--- Sylvia has been following Alejandra since she told her about Damian, which is why she was there to run him over when he chased after Ale. And why I think Sylvia rescued Ale and is nursing her back to health. Those were a ton of pills she was bringing back from the pharmacy when Teo and Katia came calling...

Vivi: Fidel felt like he was betrayed by Yago.

Carvivile: Alejandra is DEAD. She ain't coming back because she brought this on herself by trying to play with the big boys & got burned.

Nandicta: Having a gut feeling Abel will end up in a mental institution.

Vivi, I love your theory on Sylvia. That would be great.

I don't understand what Yago's motives would be to turn on Fidel. What does Camillo have to offer him? Yago has the people he wants vengeance on in his hands. I have to believe that Fidel is in on this or Yago has a really good plan to get him out of it. Camilo murdered Fidel's children. I just can't see Yago going with that.

Love this show. So much happens in one episode.

Wonderful Part I, Nandicta. As always, appreciate immensely the vocabulary. But COLOR ME PERTURBED...NO YAGO ON HULO...AT LEAST NOT ON MY ROKU. All I get is the previous episode. And I replayed it. But no new one. Grinding my teeth here. Happy though that at least I can read the recaps. Gracias to the nth degree.

Hulu still hasn't posted this episode yet. I don't want to read the recap until I've seen the show. Stupid Hulu.

Hello amig@s! The second part and the vocab are up. Sorry I went overboard but the episode was excellent and so was the dialogue. I apologize for not being able to join the discussion just now but I'll savor each and every comment tomorrow morning and I'll join the discussion throughout the day. Much love and light to all. Good night! :)

Nandicta- The second was just as fabulous as the first. Thank you!

I thought it was funny when Abel said to Ambar that murdering the guard was an accident. I don't think he understands the meaning of "accident." Sure, it wasn't premeditated on his part, but that kill shot was no accident!

Thanks, Nandicta. Terrific job. Hulu didn't post until around 11 p.m. on the east coast.

Vivi, I love your theory on Sylvia hiding and nursing Ale. Before, Sylvia seemed like a nice lady though she was rightfully angry with Ale. But I was surprised how cold she was with Katia and Teo about Ale's disappearance after the poor girl cracked and confessed all to her. But if Sylvia is hiding Ale and thinks Teo and Katia could be Damian's goons, this adds up.

Yago has some nerve warning Teo not to hurt Katia because she's fragile and his friend. Hey buddy, what about how you're hurting Ambar? She's fragile too.

ITA Yago isn't betraying Fidel. These two have something up their sleeves.

Camilo made me laugh the way he was giving his daughter "sincere" half-truths and seemed surprised himself how successful he was with her.

Morning, beautiful peeps! Many thanks for taking the time to read and comment. Much appreciated as always!

Carvivlie, that shot of Alejandra's bloodied chest with Dam and his gun standing over her body ought to be conclusive evidence of her death. However, just like you, I hope against hope that courageous, feisty and reckless Ale is still alive. I'm also hoping that Yago's betrayal is not what it appears to be. My guess is that it's a risky ploy to present Camilo to Fidel on a silver platter, because really, as you said, there seems to be nothing to gain for Yago from pairing up with Camilo.

Vivi, I love watching this show with you because you always seem to link up details that go right over my head and come up with intriguing conclusions! I love your theory about Silvia discovering Alejandra and nursing her back to health. I noticed the medicine bottles but I figured they were Silvia's. However, your theory explains the meds and the car accident better. Since Ale fessed up to the scam, Silvia follows her around, that's why she accidentally ran over Dam, she finds Ale agonizing and rescues her. Perfect!

As for Abel calling his shooting the guard an accident, maybe I should go back and rewatch the scene and the security camera footage more carefully. Lucio appears to grab Abel's gun just before it fires. I'm sorry but I do have a soft spot for Abel. :(

Steve, your guess for Abel's end is interesting. I tend to lean towards suicide. I feel his earlier suicide attempt is ominous of his punishment.

JudyB, sorry you were kept waiting for your episode. I hope you'll have a chance to see it soon. I curse Loonyvision everyday for all this inconvenience it is putting us through when utter drivel continues to get star treatment in its primetime slots.

Cathyx, sorry Hulu is being a pest to you too. I look forward to reading your impressions of the episode once you have the opportunity to see it.

Niecie, I totally agree that Yago doesn't practice what he preaches, and not just with regards to Ámbar, but also when it comes to Katia herself. He exposed Katia to the danger of falling off the wagon many times by assigning her tasks that require her being around alcohol.

Something feels off about Yago's supposed betrayal. Still, I have the impression it's a one-sided ruse on Yago's part because Fidel looked genuinely surprised and angry to me. Or maybe he is that good an actor!

I have a confession to make about Camilo: He scares the bejeezus out of me. The goofier he seems, the scarier he looks to me. I've never seen the actor before but he is wonderful for the role. He seems like a sadistic psycho to me.

Have an excellent day, everyone! Catch you later! :)

Great work Nandicta always complete. I respect your mind.

I'm still not over Alejandra's death. Partial to stories not built on amor this one came at me sideways with Bruno and Alejandra. I mourn the love story that wasn't.

When does Sara turn on Ambar? She's not giving the stinkeye for nothing.

Gracias Nandicta!

Even if Camilo was telling half truths he was correct when he told Yago that Fidel is a sinking ship. Yago was stupid to follow into this carnage between two mafiosos. Who's to say Fidel won't kill Yago after his revenge is done and has been fooling us this whole time? The best way to control someone is by befriending the victim. It's the most easy way of manipulation.

Damian faking his concern about Sara and Matias made me laugh. But even if Damian is a master manipulator he still got owned by Tomas. The rat is still at the bottom of the food chain even after all the events he indirectly caused.

It kind of baffles me that there is an abudance of good guys in this show, Sure Teo , Selma &Katia have their good qualities but they are still causing irrepearable damage to innocent people. We are in need of Detective Ayala..

Nandicta- The guard was shot twice. The first time was an accident in the struggle. Then the guard was on the ground, completely vulnerable. Lucio unmasked them and then ordered Abel to kill the guard. Abel was hesitant and argued a bit about it, but then gave the kill shot to the poor, begging, injured guard. It was no accident.

Gracias, Nandicta.

I'm sorry for not commenting on every episode but life and tech issues have a way to get in the way from time to time.

I think Alejandra is definitely dead; it's just a question of who will find out first. As for Camilo my gut is telling me he is so psycho that he will try to lure Fidel into killing Julia and telling him in the moment that he killed his own missing daughter. If that's the case, I'm hoping that Yago can stop that if only for Serena's sake.

As for Damian, he will burn in hell.

I haven't been able to catch this episode, but after your fantastic recap Nandicta, I feel like I don't need to. Wow, no detail left. Could just see these non-functionals as I read.

It's almost getting to the point where you wonder who the heck will be left standing at the end of this. Hopefully Matias...but who else?

I honestly felt almost panicked with Ambar wanting to go through with this major surgery. Psycho sis who always wants her way, no matter what she laments, well, I wouldn't trust her now as far as I could throw her. And the fact Sara spilled the beans to Ambar really has put a target on her.

If Yago is so concerned his revenge is going to hurt the people he cares about, then maybe put the skids to it. Leave the country, give it up. Take Ambar, his folks, Bruno and Matias on a nice long trip somewhere remote. Tell Teo and Katia to get lost as well and let the rest of them duke it out. Not clear what he's looking to gain anymore, especially in this Fidel/Camillo feud. He has to know he's being played at this point.

Daisynjay

Nandicta, thanks so much for Part 2 and the vocab!

It would be nice to see Damian get the same treatment Camillo's other goons got.

I know Ale's most likely dead but this show is so dark that I need a glimmer of happiness from somewhere. Her and Bruno are it as I don't see happiness for anyone else, not even Melina and Jonas.

Good to have you join the discussion, Tofie and Countx! ¡Muchas gracias!

Tofie, as an Alejandra fan, I too can't accept her untimely demise and certainly not at the hands of that cockroach. Hopefully, Vivi's suppositions turn out to be true and Alejandra is regaining strength in a secret location.

"When does Sara turn on Ambar? She's not giving the stinkeye for nothing." I personally feel it's already happening, in a passive-aggressive. Other than the obvious (boinking Ámbar's boyfriend), I believe spilling the beans about the true nature of everyone Ámbar knows/loves/trusts in such a blunt and hurtful manner was Sara's way of bursting Ámbar's bubble of innocence, which she so resents her for. She wants her little sister to be tormented and she wants her to bear the brunt of Sara's guilt, hence the "I did it all for you!" Sara may have done horrible things out of love for her sister but she has grown to begrudge her and maybe even dislike her for it.

Countx, to be honest, I fail to see how Camilo considers Fidel a sinking ship when he is constantly looking over his shoulders for him. Maybe he used this as a metaphor to warn Yago against sinking with Fidel, i.e. getting stupidly killed purely for being Fidel's associate. A couple of episodes ago, Camilo instructed Tomás to eliminate Yago is he confirms his links to Fidel. Maybe Yago sensed that if he refused Camilo's "offer" of partnership, he would be killed on the spot? I agree with you that this is all very puzzling and nothing seems what it is. Indeed, Det. Ayala would be of great help to untangle all this! Nevertheless, my money is on Fidel. Anyone who kills wee kids for losing a woman is off-the-charts psycho and deserves the worst punishment conceivable. I hope Fidel crushes Camilo.

Vivi, thanks for reminding me of how Lorenzo's dad got killed. It saves me going back to look for that scene again. Abel was tricked by Lucio into shooting the guard; however, just because the murder was not premeditated, it does not mean it was an accident. Sorry, Abel, there's no wriggling your way out of this one.

Welcome back, Urban and Daisynjay! We missed you!

UA, your speculation gave me goosebumps: "As for Camilo my gut is telling me he is so psycho that he will try to lure Fidel into killing Julia and telling him in the moment that he killed his own missing daughter." I believe Camilo capable of this and then some but I hope it doesn't come to it! As I mentioned before, Camilo is by far the person that scares me the most in this show, especially when I hear his slight lisp and when he tries to be affable or funny. Brrrr!

Daisynjay, glad we didn't lose you to the late hour. "the fact Sara spilled the beans to Ambar really has put a target on her." That's what I think too. However angle you choose to consider why Sara revealed the truth to her little sister, you can't come up with a kind and sisterly motive. It was done purely to inflict pain and put Ámbar in harm's way.

As for Yago's revenge, there are many times where it seems pointless and over-the-top but what other alternative does he have? Yes living well is the best revenge but how would one feel if they went through what Omar had to endure? I ask myself the question sometimes: If someone destroyed my life like they did Omar's without so much as blinking, would I just let it go? This is what makes this story so engrossing. Now that Mati is revealed to be Omar's son, the story gets even more complicated. Is there anyway for the kid not to get hurt considering he is at the heart of this great deceit?

As regards the Camilo/Fidel feud, Yago has nothing to gain except assisting the man who assisted him put his own revenge plan in motion. Fidel saved Omar's life, helped him create the Yago persona and gave him the tools to punish those who did him wrong. That's why Yago feels compelled to help his mentor.

Carvivlie, regarding Dam, I think he's sticking around with us till the bitter end. Sara described his best a few episodes back: Damián is like a cockroach, he would survive a nuclear catastrophe!

Nandicta: Considering how the rivalry between Camilo & Fidel over Serena resulted in the domino effect, I wouldn't be surprised to see the political levels of the Mexican government involved in the conspiracy, etc.,

Yago's revenge plot against Lucio, Sara, & Abel: Likely resulted in numerous death as we've already seen & by the time this show is over, we may have only Teo, Katia & Julia (if all 3 of them are living by then) to be the last ones surviving.

Matias will turn into Lucio 2.0 watch when he gets older.

Thanks, Nandicta. This episode didn't show up on Hulu until nearly 11 pm. That's ridiculous. I was going to skip it because it was so late, but I'm glad I watched... though to be honest I got more out of your recap. Yes, it's hard not to go "overboard" recapping a show like this one! Thank you for the bonus effort!

"If the empress of lies and deceit is majorly impactada by this major reveal, she doesn’t show it at all." She should not have been impactada, because she saw his crumpled-up paternity test result when it fell out of a wastebasket in a flashback a few weeks ago. It might have been polite of her to pretend to be surprised, however.

I do like the theory that Silvia has been looking out for Alejandra. Maybe she got to Ale after Abel, but before Damian, and painted her up with some fake blood to play dead. Argh, I realize how farfetched that sounds, and there are a lot of holes in my theory, but I'm clinging to hope with both hands.

Steve, you raise a very interesting point about political corruption playing a hand in the vertiginous rise and the relative impunity of two mafiosi like Fidel Yampolski and Camilo Michell. I, for one, I'm very curious to find out why Fidel was in jail (his prison term seems to have started around the time Omar's did as well) and how did he manage to get out (does anybody remember when Fidel left jail?)

Too many indicators point to an unorthodox ending for this unorthodox "TN". There'll be much pain and punishment to go around, that's for sure. I do however hope that sweet little Mati gets a happier ending than the grown-ups who are so adamant on wrecking his life. Oh well, it is too premature to be speculating about endings; we are barely a couple of episodes shy of reaching the half-way mark.

Julie, thanks for popping in to add yet another interesting hypothesis that keeps the hope alive that our favorite trainee journalist is still alive.

Also, thanks for reminding me that Sara had in fact seen the crumpled-up paternity test that Lucio threw out. Still, she should've been impactada that Lucio said it out loud after so many years. Oh well. This is no ordinary woman we're talking about. This is Sara Madrigal.

Nandicta- Fidel only recently got out of jail, legally it seems (i.e. not a prison break). It's been hinted and, and Camilo admitted it to Julia, that Camilo was behind Fidel getting thrown in jail.

I'm surprised that in the years Fidel was in jail, Camilo didn't try to woo Selma back to him. Perhaps he did, and we just haven't seen the flashbacks yet.

Nandicta- I also agree with your assessment of Camilo. His voice and mannerisms would be funny, if they weren't so creepy. Fidel seems like a hardened criminal, while Camilo seems like a psycho.

Vivi, thanks for the info about Fidel's release. I recall hearing someone (Selma most likely) announce that he got out of jail, but I couldn't remember whether it was said during present time, during the flashbacks where Yago was still training to perfect his fake Spaniard accent or right after his plastic surgery.

I think it would be difficult for Camilo to woo back a woman whose kid he abducted and/or killed. I'm more surprised he didn't get Fidel whacked when he was in jail.

Nandicta- No, it wouldn't be an easy sell, but Camilo is crazy and cruel enough to try.

Yes, Camilo is a hoot. I agreed with Nandicta's original description of Lucio having the face of a psychotic baby, but Camilo's face is even more psychotic-babyish.

Nandicta I agree that Camilo's ship is also slowly sinking. They are part of the same coin. I wish that Camilo&Fidel would be able to forgive eachother after so many innnocents died because of their feud.. It's a far strech but it would be a good final alternativo.

I don't see a happy ending for Yago. He has proven to be an arrogant a-hole .He is not far from becoming a true villian. Yago gave up his life for revenge long ago. He has lost the liberty to stop the trainwreck. I actually feel more bad about Abel than Yago. I want Abel&Ambar together.

You know, it's possible that Camilo did try to have Fidel killed in prison, but it didn't work. Fidel seemed to command great respect in that place.

Nandicta: This is slowly becoming the mafia version of "Infames".

Countx, I don't see how Fidel could forgive Camilo after murdering his children. I could see a truce called, but neither trust each other enough for that.

What's interesting is that Camilo has never tried to kill Selma. I would think it would have been easier with Fidel in jail. We know she is not-so-secretly singing in that bar, easy to get to.

I'm super excited to see how last night's episode worked out.

Carvivile: All of this bloodbath began over Selma.

Thanks Nandicta, i finally could watch this this morning, and now Hulu posted #30 too.

I don't think that Ale is dead, for one main reason, her body was left on a public sidewalk. If she were really dead, the morgue would have her body. She wouldn't be missing. I love your theory Vivi, I hope it's true.

I must believe that this trap with Fidel is planned. He purposely told Selma to not worry, even though meeting Yago outside the safe place was unusual, he was going to do it anyway. Yago wouldn't just fall for Camilo's story to just get himself ahead, Yago and Omar are not like that.

I don't see why Matias would become Lucio 3.0; for all the bad that is Lucio & Sara, Matias seems to be a happy, well adjusted boy.

Lucio 2.0 was NOT a happy, well adjusted kid. He was named after Lucio Sr., who was apparently a piece of crap and his mom named him "Lucio" to remind herself that Lucio 1.0 was a piece of crap. Mom dumped Lucio off on his grandmother, who also didn't want him, while she went off and formed another family*.

Lucio was envious of what Omar had his entire life. Matias already has a loving family and material comforts. There's really no reason for Matias to become Lucio 3.0.

He COULD end up becoming Yago 2.0, out for revenge, though.

I know it had to hurt Yomar to see JonASS going to the jail to visit Lucio & believing in Lucio's innocence when he never did that for Omar. If I were Melina, I'd have a problem with that.

*I wonder if Lucio's little brother Josue will show up at any point in this story?

I know Steve. That's why I find it interesting that she has been left untouched

Carvivile: Poor Julia has NO idea that Camilo, her so-called father is a complete PSYCHO!

Cathyx, I can't think what Yago's motivations are in his involvement with Camilo other than helping his mentor. There is also the Dam connection, which we viewers know more about, but I don't think Yago and his sidekicks have investigated it further. Maybe Ale's disappearance will help the digging move along faster.

Anon207, I agree with your assessment of Mati and I'm also intrigued about Lucio's little brother. They made such a point of presenting his name to us. Hopefully, he'll intervene in the plot somewhere along the line.

Steve and Carvivlie, I agree that Selma is the igniting point of this rivalry. Fidel and Camilo are both douchebags but Selma played them against each other. It's never cool to play with people's feelings and/or string them along. Too bad the jilted guy happens to be a raging psycho. Still, I feel there are many elements missing in their story.

Amig@s, for those of you who've already seen Episode #30, the summary is up and you can discuss the episode's events on its dedicated thread. Those who are still in Episode #29, the discussion continues here. Enjoy!

Good evening all! Catch you tomorrow! :)
