Sueño de Amor (SdA) #107. Monday August 15, 2016. Now That Esperanza Has Miraculously Returned From The Dead, Let’s Kill Off Ernesto!

Aren't you glad you picked this light fun comedy to follow?

Hello Patio Pals! I’m away on holiday until August 22. Mini-recaps for Monday and Tuesday are scheduled to post the next day at 6 am EDT. Be well and see you next week, Sueñolandia dwellers!

Pedro, Pato and Ernesto are wailing next to Esperanza’s frail and, by the looks of it, lifeless body. Luca is tearing up nearby. Anya is standing awkwardly in the middle of the brouhaha, no doubt feeling like she is intruding on a private moment and, quite probably, beating herself up for not leaving Casa Guerrero earlier. The efficient priest just goes about his business as if nothing and gives Esperanza the last rites. Maybe he needs to be somewhere in a hurry.

Salma has reverted back to her old vitchy self and her old vitchy ways. Except that now, to top it all off, she is embittered and belligerent. She plays music loudly, disturbs Adrián’s study time and beauty sleep, insults Viviana and generally acts like an insufferable brat.

Ricardo feels bad for Esperanza and apologizes to Cristina Vélez Valderrama (CVV) for the way this is all affecting him. CVV says she understands.

Anya notices that Esperanza still has a pulse, though very weak. She holds a small mirror to Esperanza’s nose to demonstrate that she is still breathing. They rush the agonizing Esperanza to the hospital.

Back at Casa Alegría, Ricardo cries for Esperanza and bemoans the injustices of life. How unfair it is that good people die, how unfair for Esperanza’s kids and how unfair that science can’t find a cure for cancer. CVV comforts him and encourages him to unload his pain because a man who cries is a man who feels.

At hospital, Luca urges Ernesto to get a medical check-up ASAP. However, Ernesto refuses to go anywhere until he hears back that Esperanza is better. Luca tells his dad he must look after his health because his children need him. He admits that Ernesto is important to him. He’ll never stop being his dad, the man who cared for him all his life. Luca is still upset at Ernesto but he cares about his wellbeing. Ernesto is moved by Luca’s words.

Pedro calls Ricardo to keep him informed about Esperanza’s health and thanks him for forgiving his mom. Ricardo tells him that he and his sister Pato can always count on Ricardo’s support.

Yay, Esperanza survived! We don’t know why she nearly died in the first place but Dr. Medrano is running some tests to find out. Anya makes this joyous announcement because Dr. Medrano is only mentioned by name these past few episodes. Maybe the salary of the actor playing him went towards paying the actress who plays Anya. In any case, it’s happiness all around in Esperanza’s faithful cheering section.

Anya kisses Pedro by the reception desk, while PatoLuca take their father to see Dr. Salazar, the kidney specialist in the 5th floor.

Well, hello Dr. Salazar in the 5th floor! A little too young to have finished Med School, completed a specialty and become a resident nephrologist at a private hospital but maybe he’s Mexico’s answer to Doogie Howser, M.D. As it turns out, Dr. Salazar has bad news for Ernesto. His kidney (riñón) is only functioning at 20% and could collapse at any moment. So, the Lukidney was a dud after all! Ernesto needs a new kidney transplant very promptly and the waiting list is 4 to 5 years-long. Ernesto does not have that much time to wait. He must come in for a weekly check-up and follow strict medical instructions, otherwise his health will deteriorate very quickly and he will not have much to live. Ernesto needs a compatible kidney from a relative who is of legal age, meaning that Adrián is out as potential donor. Pato volunteers to donate her kidney to her father but he refuses. Pato decides to take the donor compatibility test behind his back. She feels she owes her dad this because he neglected his own health to take care of her mom.

Anya keeps talking alone and addressing herself in the third person, and it is creepy as fudge! She is supposed to be caring for Esperanza in the intensive care unit but she ends up waking up her patient with her loudly-voiced reproaches to herself for kissing Pedro! Blond Cubby sure has a taste for emotionally-unstable women! Esperanza wants Anya to tell her more about that kiss. And since they are trading secrets, Esperanza confesses that she loves Ricardo like crazy! She loves him more than anyone in the world! Sorry Esperanza, but you are thick as two short planks!

Back at Casa Alegría, now that Esperanza is alive and out of danger, Ricardo and CVV check out the venue for their wedding and vow to be together forever. Smoochies. A few scenes later, CVV is in a mood, all of a sudden. It appears that the smoochies evolved into a “What are you feeling?” discussion that went awry. Ricardo says he can’t process what happened this afternoon and CVV says she can’t deal with not knowing whats going on with his emotions. She asks Abril to get ready: The two of them are going to spend the night in Casa Vélez.

Viviana calls Mario at work to tell him that he needs to hold his spawn in check. Mario says he has been assigned a new project, he has heaps of work and he’ll be virtually absent Monday through Friday.

Salma posts a duckface selfie online along with a status saying she is single. Paulo Rey adds her on FaceLook. Salma is interested in his money and eventful social life so she accepts his friend request.

Margarita visits Casa Conde/Kuri to talk with Salma, who starts giving her attitude. Margarita says this is it! She’s going to bring this brat under control (meter en cintura) right this instant! Salma protests that this is her life and she can do whatever she pleases. Margarita reminds her that, the last time she did what she pleased, she ended up binge-drinking and falling pregnant at age 14. Margarita says she understands Salma’s pain and frustration but this does not give her the right to be an ungrateful and insolent brat! She urges Salma to respect Viviana and this house or else she’ll return to Casa Manzanares where her grandma will have her on a very short leash! That’s the spirit, Márgara!

Well, it seems that Márgara is on fire today! She announces to Félix Tiburcio that, since he is unable to put his mother in her place, Margarita will do it! She will make Montserrat’s life hell until she leaves. It’s war! You see, what happened earlier is that Félix judged a talent contest between his wife and his mother to pick who gets to accompany him to the theater. Margarita told a joke and sang a bit of Burundanga by the late and great Celia Cruz. Montserrat told a trabalenguas/ tongue-twister and did a dance in a chicken costume. Félix tried to be a smart-aleck and told both women that the result of the talent contest was a tie (un empate). Therefore, they both won and could go to the theater together. Both women refuse because they can't stand each other and, as a consequence, Félix found himself back in square one: Stuck with theater tickets that are going to go to waste!

The next morning, Pato, Pedro and Luca visit Esperanza. Anya tells them the doctor says that what happened to Esperanza wasn’t due to the cancer, it was due to very low blood pressure. Esperanza says she has just had a PET scan, her first after 5 chemo sessions, the virotherapy, the chinese weevils and all the alternative cures she tried.

At Instituto Palacios, CVV hugs Ricardo and apologizes for leaving him alone at night. Ricardo calls Pedro to check on Esperanza and hears yelps of joy: “¡Bendito sea Dios! ¡Mil veces bendito! Blessed be God! A thousand times blessed!” In other words, thank Heavens a thousand times, for Esperanza no longer has cancer! ¿Qué? ¿Qué? What?

Thank you for the pleasure of your company. Please join us again for the next capítulo. We’ll be saving you a seat!

Nandicta, loved the title. A wonderful recap of an episode that must have had everyone's head spinning.

"Salma has reverted back to her old vitchy self and her old vitchy ways. Except that now, to top it all off, she is embittered and belligerent" was my favorite although I am sad that she is submerging her despair in anger.

I'm rather speechless. Yesterday, I saw the previous episode where it appeared Esperanza had drawn her last breath and Ricardo saw her on her "deathbed".

I have to say that I was upset by both Espe and Ricardo. Espe chose to leave Ricardo out of the equation of her illness but had no qualms about having her children right there every step of the way to see her wither and (almost) die. Where was your compassion for them? As some of you have noted, their heartbreak was almost unbearable to watch. I'm not done. I haven't vented my scron for Ricardo. He seemed grim but unmoved, thoughts still possessed by him being deceived by Esperanza for HIS choice as to what to do being taken away from him. He should have flown to her deathbed, covering her with kisses and declaring his love. Now, whno ended up crying? Cris. Really???

"CVV comforts him and encourages him to unload his pain because a man who cries is a man who feels". Thank you Cris. Please call Hallmark so they can create a special card.

All of the children (including Luca) did an amazing job last night. Kudos to them all.

"Anya keeps talking alone and addressing herself in the third person, and it is creepy as fudge!" OK, I never liked her from the moment I saw her and still don't.

I am glad Esperanza survived. It really is a miracle. But to have her survive to have Ernesto die would be terrible.

If Osario has Espe and Ricardo together at the end of this, I will be inconsolable.

Thank you for enduring my rant all.

Nandicta, this was great. Thank you!

Diana

Great recap, Nandicta, thanks for the laughs for such a dismal episode.

Diana, I sure agree it would be terrible if Ernesto dies and if Ricardo ends up with Esperanza at the end of all this. Eventhough I do not want them together, Ricardo and Esperanza are a perfect match in terms of their harebrained, thoughtless, screws loose schemings.

I feel sorry for Cristina who may be seeing the writing in the wall (with Esperanza's miraculous recovery) but those I feel sorry for the most are Ricardo's children and Cristina's daughter. It was sad when Selena asked Ricardo if he was marrying Cristina because he was supposed to marry Esperanza and never explained to them what happened. Ugh!

So, Margarita has finally decided to take back her household from Félix's mommy making her stay so bad she will choose to leave. I loved Félix's moustache twitching nervously as he was told (not consulted on) how it was going down..

Will La Virgen de la Paz get credit for Esperanza's miraculous recovery or just the the traditional medical treatments and weevils?

I like quirky Anya and think she is the perfect match for quirky Pedro.

Yesterday I got lost in my videogame (that I finished) so I missed this one. When I realized what time it was I saw the microwave clock showed 2:59, so I really appreciate the recap.

Thanks, Nandicta!

Well, seems like bad weed never dies (mala yerba nunca muere) and that we could have saved two episodes of this circus, somersaults and theater (circo maroma y teatro) if Ernesto had ignored Esperanza stupid decisions and take her to the hospital. When she dies, she deserves to die alone as a dog (morir sola como perro).

Nandicta Thank You very much for the recap!

Espi is cancer-free!

I feel horrible for Cristina, who's likely to lose out in the end :(

Jarifa, while I enjoy "quirky" (your perfect word), there seems to be something else there. I feel there is more to it - I get the feeling Anya is mentally unbalanced and actually, unstable.

I am never right on these things. So if you are right Jarifa, then I wish them good luck as a couple.

I like Marg and Felix so will look forward to their scenes from all the drama.

Apologize if this has been asked and answered recently, but do we know how many more episodes there are?

Diana

Diana, the 2 hr. gran final is this Sunday August 21 in México which means it looks like a total of 132 (?) episodes. If that is the case, I would guess our final week would be that of Sept. 12. I wonder if they will do a two hour final here that Friday or just cut and paste it into one. It has been a while since I have seen a two hour final. : ( It is odd trying to find out info about this one's schedule and Univision's upcoming evening offerings since SUEÑO was banished to the afternoon.

ITA that Anya may be unstable/unbalanced and her obsession to cure cancer is sure one aspect of that. Here is hoping Pedro can give her some stability and get her beyond her father's death and that she give him some undivided attention. She needs to find a happier less stressful area of medicine.

Has Osorio created a new "combo-genre"????(like the combo plate at restaurants) Drama(death scene) juxtaposed with slapstick (Margarita, Montserrat and Félix). Guess it will just be known as the "Combo"!

Thank you, Nandicta, you somehow manage to poke fun at these idiots even when the story is grim.

Diana, I agree with you about Ricardo and Esperanza. She decided to lie to the love of her life to spare him the pain, but how about your damned children? You didn't want to marry Ric because you were dying but you are willing to marry Ernesto on your death bed?
On the other hand, that doesn't make Ricardo any more likable. He's saying all the wrong words, he's all about "me, me, me". He couldn't forgive a dying woman's last wish?
Somehow Osorio managed to screw up both protagonistas. In the end, they probably deserve one another and if before I had some doubts that they were still end game because we didn't know if Esperanza will live, now I'm sure that Cristina will be left crying at the end of all this and Ernesto will probably be dead.
Jarifa, I feel bad for Cristina, too, and the kids - Selena really bonded with Esperanza, they were all set to have a family together.

It's hard to say what will come next, for now Esperanza is stuck with Ernesto and Ricardo is furious with her. But sooner or later he might have a change of heart, Ernie might die or Cristina might get fed up with the nonsense and then...

Funny last night I was thinking about the same thing.

I went to bed and turned the tv on to watch some before going to sleep and I caught the ending and the credits of YAGO. Wow! I didn't care about the kiss between the woman in red and Yago because I am not familiar with the story but those credits were something else! They actually invite you to watch tomorrow! Very well done! Of course you can see Carmen Armendáriz hand there, and she knows her craft.

Then it came to me. SUEÑO It's like you put CSI, RBD, Rosa de Guadalupe, some serial killer documentary and Sesame Street in a blender, so you're right, combo is a very polite to put it.

Jarifa, love the "Combo"!

Adriana, yup "He couldn't forgive a dying woman's last wish" was it for me. Ric looked like a scientist who just discovered a loathsome species and wasn't sure how to handle it. I'm getting mad even thinking about it!!

And Espe, you may have shielded your children from physical evil (as best you could - Tracy aside), but not from your debilitating and devastating illness which inflicted raw, deep, painful scars. Will they ever be able to banish your pained, pinched, pale face from their minds? When they envision you, will it be as the lovely talented woman you were or the spectre of death?

Must repeat: This is only a tn, only a tn. I'm saying "blech" to myself for heaven's sake. :)

Diana

Adriana, then there is Abril. Will Cristina have to yank her away from a new brother and sister if Ricardo goes back to Esperanza? Not pretty no matter how you cut it.

Paco, I wonder if we wil ever see anything like this again. All we need are some tap dancers and a guy playing "Lady of Spain" on the accordion in the finale.

Cristina could go psycho. You never know!

Hooray for a miraculous cure. I hope that wasn't misdirection just to have her run over by a car tomorrow.

Here's my wild guess: This will be a groundbreaking show in that Our Hero Ricardo (ha) is So Special he needn't live by ordinary rules. He'll marry both Esperanza and Cristina and live bigamously ever after.

So...Espe's cancer was cured and yet she was still malaising that badly all that time just because of low blood pressure? Was no one ever checking her vital signs?

Gracias, Nandicta!

Also: ""CVV comforts him and encourages him to unload his pain because a man who cries is a man who feels". Thank you Cris. Please call Hallmark so they can create a special card." Hilarious, Diana!

I know that in novelandia protagonistas are not suppose to cheat, because that's the antagonists job, but, as we say in México, why make a woman happy when you can make two?

Ricardo can marry Cristina and nobody has to know that he has secret encounters with Esperanza. Oh, sorry, I forgot how "communicative" Esperanza is, she couldn't keep nothing secret even if her own life depended on it.

And speaking of end credits, yesterday I praised Yago's and now I am puzzled with AMOR DE BARRIO. They changed them to a big fake breasted woman in a skimpy blue dress who can not sing with a very ugly song. God!

Nandicta, good recap. "Now that espranza has come back from the dead, they're gonna kill off ernesto"? Well, how are they gonna kill him off? By kidney failure or by kracy flyin "out" of the coocoo's nest to get revenge? Somebody's gonna get gone for the lead couple to return back together. I really want him with christyV, but the show is about two people seperated for 20 year comin back together. So somebody's gonna die. And since erny is already at deaths door, why not him? Becides he murdered a guy. What a mess.

Iam glad for espranza. But she caused alot of unnecessary heartache. Yes Im talkin about ricardo, all this time they could have been together. And happy. Now her heart could get broken if they're about to kill off ernesto. The killer with a heart. But she'll have ricky, who"s goona console christyV? Sometimes you want to hate some of these characters, and love some. Which way to go.

Im happy for pato and pedro. Their mommy is not dying anymore. What a blessing for them.
And tomorrow is another day. Come what may. Ok I sound like soap opera.

Thanks Ms Nan, good recap.
