Thanks, deb, for posting all the winners. It's kind of a weird show in that the winners are somehow (not clear to me) selected by fans voting. I guess El Señor is a blockbuster and thus got a LOT of awards. I was impressed by Gabriel Porras' acceptance speech for best protagonist in a regular novela - he dedicated it to all the gardeners, all the Carlos Martínez who work so hard to make a life in this country. The way I get through these shows is fast forwarding through all the music!
Wow! Araceli managed to wear two costumes with half her breasts showing!
I like norteño music (with the accordion) but I don't listen to much music on the radio, so I had never heard Los Intocables. I liked the song they played. And they gave them some sort of award for having done a lot of charitable things for causes like children with cancer and helping undocumented people.
Anyway, I find the fan voting kind of suspect. They picked Luis Ernesto Franco (Rodrigo, alias El Faier) as the malo más bueno or best villain in a regular series instead of Julio Bracho (Colmillo) who was evil to the bone. Luis Ernesto did a great job but he wasn't all that bad. I think the fans just liked him.
"Gaby Espino joins the cast of “Señora Acero 3, La Coyote,” where she will play the role of Indira Cárdenas, a Homeland Security agent whose arrival on the scene has drastic implications for La Coyote’s fate.
"But Indira isn’t all she appears: She leads a double life, with a shocking secret in her past that is sure to take viewers’ breath away." huh?
"“Señora Acero 3, La Coyote” has ranked as the number one Spanish-language television program in its time slot, among adults 18-49 and 18-34."

I guess "Bajo el mismo cielo" was Telemundo's best non-narco film for the year.
I would have liked "La esclava blanca" to have won something,
in my opinion that was one of the best novelas of all time.
I also loved La Esclava Blanca, deb. I wish they could have put it in a different, separate category from Bajo. I liked them both. And they ended both on the same night so they could play Martres and start three new ones the same night - Tuesday.
I hate being manipulated like that. I watched all three first nights, and settled on Silvana mostly because more Caray folks are tuning into that one.
Miguel de Miguel as Nicolas, wow!, talk about a villain, such a well written part played so well, he was so much more clever than everyone, and justified everything he did, the only time I can remember seeing such a complex part was Catherine Siachoque in "¿Dónde está Elisa? " who was totally whacko, but what choice did she have?
I'm slightly "iffy" for a Monday recap. We'll see. My DSL modem has been failing and then resuscitating off and on for a couple of days now. I called Earthlink today and a new, snazzy modem is on its way, but it probably won't arrive until Tuesday.
So, if I have internet on Monday, I'll do a recap. If I don't I MAY drop by the library and at least post that I don't have internet for Monday evening's recap.
I'm still at work! So the above comment was sent from the office where I DO have internet! Yikes, it's almost 7:00 pm. And I have a 45 minute drive to get home!
novelera, I think I might be able to put up a short recap for Monday's episode if you're not able to do so.
Was there a show on Friday evening? My local Telemundo station was off the air. The station manager actually called me to tell me that lightning had struck their transmitter. It'll take 2-3 days to fix.
Stella tries to pretend to not be annoyed that Manuel stayed at Chivis’ the night before.
In the office, an excited Chivis shows Manuel the check from the wedding. Very flirty scene. He noticed that she had put her jacket on him. She asks if he talked to Lucha. He jokes about hearing her snoring through the wall. She tells him a few times not to get too close to her; but doesn’t actually seem to mind when he does.
Antonio José gives a letter and presents to Rafael to give to his family. He seems sincere when he says he misses them.
Jorge stuffs his face with all the food Margarita made for breakfast. They get along great, and right when she says that Angie will never love him the way she does, Don Benito comes in to thank Jorge for staying and to send him away. He doesn’t want Margarita to get hurt again.
Back at the terminal, Stella kisses Poncho when she sees Manuel approaching. He tells them to stop with their little show and get to his office. Chivis watches with a bewildered look. Manuel yells at Poncho and Stella for making out in front of everyone. They continue with their act and claim to be in love and can’t control their passion.
Lupita and Pedrito are adorable together. They agree to share everything now that they are novios. Lupita was scared about the robbery; Pedrito says he will take care of her. He asks at what age they will get married since he likes to be organized. Lupita says at 20, like her mother. Then he asks about their first child.
Vicente texts Majo to see how she’s doing. She calls Andres to set up a time to talk.
Stella thinks the plan is working and Manuel is really jealous. Domingo is afraid Poncho will lose his job. Stella just says she’ll hire him. She also notes that Poncho is taking his role very seriously and reminds him that Manuel is the only king for her.
At the outdoor restaurant, Majo tries to talk to a very grumpy Andres. She misses him all the time and wants to know if they can have a second chance. Andres knows she cheated on him with Vicente. She denies it and wants to know who told him that. He repeats that she has lost him forever. She finally admits it and asks for forgiveness.
Domingo asks Poncho how he is since he knows he’s not just acting with Stella. Stella comes in to tell Poncho he is no longer her novio, but her fiancé. They are going to get married within a month.
Andres is understandably upset and thinks Majo has changed. She lies again and says it was only one kiss with Vicente. Andre is firm that it’s not about forgiveness, it’s about trust – and he doesn’t trust her. She is no longer the person he fell in love with.
Rafael shows up at Chivis’ with the gifts. She tries to shut the door in his face, but he says that Antonio José sent him. She takes the gifts and letter but won’t accept the money.
Stella explains her ridiculous fake marriage plan to Poncho and Domingo.
Trini tries to console Majo about Andres. Majo doesn’t know why she is the way she is now, but she isn’t actually sorry for making out with Vicente. Trini tells her to stay away from the manzana podrida (rotten apple) next door and get married to Andres as soon as she gets him back. Don Benito calls and Trini practically runs out of the room to go see him.
Chivis reads the letter, crying. AJ claims he came back to the US to face justice and to see his family again. Chivis slowly walks over to Manuel’s. She tells him that AJ is back and she doesn’t know how she’ll react when she sees him again. She doesn’t know what to do. She doesn’t want Manuel to ever forget her. They finally kiss. It’s a loooooong kiss.
Chivis apologizes for kissing Manuel. She is very confused, but not regretful. She wants them to forget it ever happened. Manuel obviously won’t be able to do that. They sit down and talk about AJ. Manuel asks if she is planning on going back to him after what just happened.
Don Benito, Trini, Margarita, and Juanito watch the news of the robbery. Trini is mortified that she’s on TV in her robe with no makeup. One of her friends calls and she pretends to be in Italy with a guy named Fabio, so no it wasn’t her on the news. Margarita uploads the video to Facebook and tags Trini.
Chivis tells Manuel that she came over to tell him goodbye. She repeats that she married for life and she’s going to be with her husband hasta que la muerte nos separe (until death do us part). Manuel remembers, but he also said that he was going to wait. And he will never forget their kiss.
Chivis wants to avoid seeing him as much as possible. She wants to focus on work since it’s the only thing she has, and she prefers to work with Vicente. Before she leaves, Manuel says she can still pass him notes on the balcony.
Trini is excited about the news about AJ, but annoyed that Chivis didn’t keep the money. Chivis doesn’t want to be linked to any illegal activity that AJ is involved in. She prefers to not have much instead of having a lot of things that were bought with dirty money. Trini disagrees – it doesn’t matter where money comes from, all that matters is that you have it. She didn’t even know what her own husband did for work. (Ugh Trini!) Chivis really doesn’t know what to do when AJ comes back into her life.
The next morning, Domingo and Stella agree that Poncho needs to change his sense of style. Ridiculous montage of Poncho trying on ridiculous clothes at the store.
Manuel calls Vicente into his office. He wants him to take over the work with Chivis. Vicente can tell something is off. He wonders why Manuel is distancing himself from Chivis even though he’s crazy about her.
Thanks VERY much, J, for another marvellous recap. I'm in awe of how you can recount what happens so clearly and succinctly.
I second your "Ugh Trini!" It's hard to understand how Chivis wound up with the values she has when her mother (and perhaps her father as well) were such unprincipled turds. I'm embarrassed that I find Trini amusing, given how mean her responses have been to Jorge and Don Benito, plus her admission to Chivis about the importance of money and her closing her eyes to how her own husband made his.
wow, love your recaps J!
I'm still waiting for everyone to get their presents, did Chivas stash them in her closet?
kind of looked like Jorge forgot all about Angie while he was sampling all of the food that Margarita made for him, took quite an effort by Benito to pry him away.
ah yes, Chivas was married in a church.
I kind of liked Poncho in that narco outfit, and we didn't get to see what they finally picked.
Wowee the sexual tension in the fish market office was palpable! Steamed fish, anyone?
I find it amusing how AJ peppers his speech with phrases in English, like 'Relax!' just like his sweet (?) eldest daughter does! Wonder if that's where she got the habit?
eres una "Chica Mala"
from the show, catchy theme song/video of Daniela, (Marcial and Yesica's daughter),
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FgIqoPPJAk
Thank you for the recap, J! Iplan to watch this tomorrow.
"Ugh, Trini" indeed. So materialistic. This just confirms my suspicion that Trini pushed Chivis into marrying AJ for his money, etc.
Chivis' morals and conscience must have come from her father's DNA.
Silvana
This is novelera. No internet for sure until at least Tuesday night when the new modem from EarthLink arrives. And then I have to connect things properly! Worst case my son will come over before work and do it! He lives in the East Bay and works closer to where I live. Long commute, like lots of folks around here.
I tried to post as myself, but failed on this library computer. At lease we have a terrific new library in my neighborhood, with an abundance of public computers.
Thanks to J for the recap. I haven't read it because I didn't watch Silvana last night. I had guests and ran out of steam and went to bed. I prefer to watch before reading.
J- Thank you so much for the recap. I have been watching bits and pieces of some episodes, but saw all of this one. Glad I did. Loved the kiss between Chivis and Manuel. :)
Manuel seems all in with Chivis, but he also does seem to be exhibiting some jealousy over the Stela- Pocho farce.
It's ironic that Trini has no problem with breaking the commandments about stealing when it comes to AJ, but it's all about the Church and marrying for life when it comes to any thoughts of Chivis divorcing him. I don't even know why Chivis is considering going back to him. Not only is the man a criminal, he left her in the lurch and abandoned her. It's unforgivable.
Why is MJ trying to get back together with Andres when she can't keep her hands and lips off of Vicente?
All in all, this is a cute, light show. I love the easy and natural interactions between the siblings, the kids and parents, and the chemistry between Chivis and Manuel. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of plot.
Mexican superstar singer Juan Gabriel has passed away today at age 66 of a heart attack. Eerie timing, as Telemundo will soon be airing a series about him, his rise to fame, and his life. May he rest in peace.
You're welcome for the recap! I also find Trini amusing even with how classist and snobby she is. Maybe it's because I know she'll end up being a good person so I'm willing to look past it right now.
I really like how light-hearted this show is. The characters (and actors) all seem so comfortable together. It's fun to watch, especially after all the sadness of Esclava Blanca. I do wonder if AJ will end up getting killed off though since Chivis has already mentioned twice that she married for life. I hope not. Maybe she will eventually change her mind.
I am sitting here typing this and listing to my iTunes collection of Juan Gabriel songs. I think I have 47 of them. Plus, I have some of his live concerts on my iPad.
what a great loss this is.
He was a unique talent.
Finally finished watching Friday's episode. (yay.)
SpanProf - I have often wondered about that nice, big house Andres lives in, and that boat that is docked at a nice yacht club. College professors don't make that much money. Perhaps he still lives with his parents?
When AJ handed off the gifts & money to Rafael, AJ said STTE that it was Rafa's fault AJ was in trouble. Did I hear that right? Have I missed something in older episodes? Did Rafael give him bad investment advice or something?
I really, really liked that whole Chivis/Manuel scene that started with their kiss and continued with their discussion about her husband, etc. Compared to the standard storyline in telenovelaland, this was done with maturity, thoughtfulness and intelligence. It's one of the reasons I keep watching this show.
Hhhmmm..... I noticed the camera did not show us Pancho's new "luke" that Stella and Dom approved of.
