Caray, Caray!

One by one we are left with fewer reasonably behaving characters. What does that say for our Anas if suddenly the title of well-adjusted one has shifted to Llora?!

And Evaristo and his vengeance is very intriguing. It seems like the second brother with no name is about to die soon.

 

Just finished watching it and I'll comment more tomorrow after the recap is up but the one thing I will say is that I wonder if Marcelo will do more harm to Ana Lucia than to Ana Leticia. It doesn't look like their first meeting will go well in tomorrow's episode.
 

Yes, and I hope neither one of them becomes pregnant either. Can you imagine that???
 

Well, Santiago is "una porquería" y "el peor de los hombres". AnaLu is so much stronger character. I am glad though, that she is willing to fight for him. But IMO, he doesn`t
deserve her.

Well the writers just threw in a few more complications and family ties last night. Evaristo seems to have a grudge against Ernestina's dead daddy, and is taking it out on Erni and her family. And Erni and Leonie have a third sister, and suddenly I am seeing the resemblance between Erni, Leonor, and Soledad...Looks like that inheritance will need to be split a few more ways.
 

I was wondering about that third sister - when Ev and Chana chatted, Ev inquired if Chana got Ernie sufficiently interested and Chana said she didn't like to tell lies. So was the lie that she didn't tell her about Evaristo's menacing presence as the cards suggested to her, or was Ev's tale about third sister a lie? My goodness - if it turns out to be Soledad, that would certainly be a twisted circle!
 

Looking forward to your recap Sneaky and everyone's comment. I have been battling a sinus infection and the finally got something to help...and after taking before I started watching, it made me drousy and off I went to dreamland before the show finished.

A little of Abue goes a long way. Can see why AnaLoon is sooooo dramatic. Being around that woman, gees. Am just not enjoying all the screen time this character is getting.

That said, dang, Inaki may not be the galan in this story, but have to say, he just lights up my screen when he's on. Pedro is having fun with this role and watching him drive AnaLoon crazy is pure delight. I{'ve never been a big Zepeda fan, so would love more Inaki and less Ramiro. I know, won't happen, but I want to have fun watching a TN too. I'll enjoy watching a villain if the actor is giving it his all.

Cynthia...hate to say but you and I are on the same "please dear Lord no" train wondering if we are going to get the typical cliché pregnancy storyline with these sisters. This TN is just ripe for that type inane plot to be thrown in to drag things out. Though if it happens with AnaLu, might be worth it to watch Soledad's brain implode.
 

The lie was in not telling about the danger (Ev) she saw menacing her family in the cards. DNA test would easily prove if Sol is a sister or not, and Erni wouldn't be fool enough to accept her without that. For the sound of it, Erni's dad used and tossed Margarita-- Sol's mom, and Ev's great love. The irony of Sol raising her grand-niece all these years, and also being a missing third sister.
 

That makes sense. I guess if true that certainly gets her out of jail then due to familial bonds... And sort of on the topic, will we find out who was the father of Sole's baby or will it turn out not to be relevant to the plot?

Can't wait to see the first meeting between Ana Lucia and Marcelo! We'll finally learn what he thinks/feels about her.
 

I don't think we'll find out who the father of Sofia was; it isn't important. The only important thing in that was that SoleBad couldn't have more children and that is part of her motive for hanging onto Ana Lucia the way she does.

Based on what happened in this episode I think they're setting up Ana Lucia to get pregnant. That is something I don't think Ana MeMeMe would let happen to herself. She not only would not put herself at risk of losing her figure permanently she would never be able to handle having a baby that would take any attention away from herself. What I can see happening is that since Ana Lucia is so bent on a meeting and confrontation it will happen and Ana MeMeMe will get as ugly as possible about this and never tell the others. Upon learning of the pregnancy she will fake a pregnancy, get Evaristo to kidnap Ana Lucia's baby, and try to pass it off as her own. The only way then to prove it's Ana Lucia's is through an invasive exam to prove which gave birth, since it would disclose that Ana MeMeMe had never given birth and Ana Lucia had. Ana Llorona, of course, is still a virgin.

Women who are identicals are more prone to having them than those who are not. At least that was the conventional wisdom in my youth.

As for Ernestina having another half-sister, I can see that being SoleBad. That will, as previously mentioned, spare her the fate we all want her to face.

I think SantMarc will spiral into more confusion and possible depression as we go along. He has been in a no-win situation since remembering his true (or former) identity.
 

Ana MeMeMe's tantrum when Mariano ended their call points to her immaturity. Her selfishness started before she was in Ernestina's custody. Why Ernestina never addressed this is what we don't know.

And will Ana Llorona please learn some less depressing music?

I am now having serious doubts about Chana. She is on Evaristo's payroll and therefore can't be ignorant of who he really is or his motives for what he does.
 

Yes, the puppet master Evaristo is the only one with the whole story. He is the answer man. Loved his scenes with Chana and the details of his backstory as they are leaked little by little. Ramiro sure had "Evaristo" news for Ana Letiicia. I cannot wait until it all hits the fan.

Great that Ana Lucía took Santiago's/Marcelo's wedding ring hostage. Like Ana Leticia is not going to notice that immediately.

The cherry on the top of the episode was tío Marcelo hanging up on Ana Leticia to be with Viridiana. Finally.

 

Loved that. But we now have to wonder what Mariano has to do with Gina's death. While he most likely hasn't been actively encouraging Ana MeMeMe he should by now be asking for Ernestina's help in getting that girl to a shrink.

Someone should also be asking her point-blank why she wants Ana Lucia to be dead rather than alive. Nobody has had the guts to ask that since Marcelo before his "accident" and he doesn't remember that answer.

Urban, that is one of the great problems in telenovelas (and sometimes in life), nobody wants to ask a direct question. It sure would clarify things.
 

Ai yi yi...UA, I am officially depressed. A pregnancy would be bad enough, but your guess at how the plot would play out. Ouch...but we've seen it before in TN's so it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Darn, the idea of those tired old plots doesn't make the back half of this TN very appealing.

I'm at the Judy table of really wanting our gray-haired hunk Tio Mariano to start going to the positive side. yeah, he was a smuck and a womanizer...that I can live with, the bedding Gina right before a wedding, nasty and he paid for it losing Jenny in a way. But I root for him to be redeemed. I would Inaki too, but I don't feel as warm and fuzzy on his chances right now. But I keep hoping.
 

As far as we know, Inaki killed Daniel, so no redemption for him. No redemption for Ana MeMeMe either.

After this episode I am also convinced that Evaristo is the sickest of all the men in this story. He is looking for revenge over the actions of a man who is long dead. How does it serve anything to make Ernestina the victim of this revenge? Does she know anything about Marguerita? Has she ever heard of Soledad? Does he mean not only to bankrupt her foundation, but her personal wealth? Does he mean to kill (or have someone else kill) her nietas?

Actually, Ernestina finding out about Ana MeMeMe's responsibility for the "accident" and that she killed Jenny would be more than enough at this point.
 

Urban, the pregnancy/faked pregnancy/stolen baby would be the ultimate cliché, but may be the only one we are missing from your list at this point already!
My doubts with Chana now are also on the quality of her amazing gift. Everything she says has been spoonfed to her by Ev. What is her goal in life too? To take care of Ev when he is old and frail?

Ditto on loving the ring taking scene and Mariano hanging up on Ana Le and the subsequent tantrum, Urban and Jarifa. Indeed, nobody asks questions and even when they do, they comform with the most nonsensical answers.

 

I hope Mariano doesn't have anything to do with Gina's death too, Daisy. We have enough homicidal characters here already, starting to get afraid evil will begin outweighing the good just on the sheer volume!
 

I too believe that Soledad is the third sister. If she is that would mean that she and her sisters are living parallel lives to the triplets. Soledad is like Ana Lucia living apart from her sisters with no knowledge that they even exist. Ana Lucia only has that sixth sense or whatever when one of her sisters is hurting but Soledad does not.
 

Goodness, Tio Mariano was muy encantador with Viridiana in his home. Sure hope he finds redemption. JudyB and Daisynjay, I'm bringing mojitos to your table.

Iñaki was a hoot hanging out in AnaLe's bedroom on her marriage bed. So funny when Ramiro rolled his eyes as Iñaki snuck out without AnaLaura spotting him. But, dang, he murdered his brother. Too bad no redemption for him.

Will poor Ramiro get lucky with AnaLaura before it hits the fan and she turns on him cause he knew about SantiMarc with her sisters?
 

SoleBad only has half-sisters while Ana Lucia is an identical triplet. That has to make a difference.
 

I would think that Ev would want Soledad (and Ana Lucia) to eventually inherit everything. Notice last night he and Edmundo discussed how it was Ev who decades ago placed Ed as the money manager for the family, and unlike his other clients, Ed has actually managed their money well. I do think it's interesting how each of the older sisters seems to be paired with one of the younger sisters.

I don't think that either Ernestina, with her bad heart, or Ana Leticia, with her BSC homicidal tendencies, are long for this world. Less people to split the inheritance, ultimately.
 

I missed this last night, but I've already got the gist of the juicier points! (Why am I not surprised that Soledad may be a long-lost relative?) Looking forward to the recap.

LOL! Poor Ramiro has been trying to get Ana Laura into that bed for ages now. I think he should start slow, and perhaps ask to see her leg without the prosthetic, in a non-romantic setting first. Get them both comfortable with the idea of him seeing her and her amputated leg, before being in the heat of the moment. Otherwise, I think things are always going to stall between them in the bedroom.
 

I wait with "baited-breath" every day for the previous evening's recap. And...I am never disappointed. The recaps not only fill in the gaps of my non-Spanish understanding, but they are so-o-o-o funny. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your time and effort!

My level of involvement in this tn is on the cusp of being obsessive. Have to keep reminding myself that evil AnaLet and sweet AnaLu are really the same actress. Angelique certainly deserves recognition when the awards are passed out.

Am I correct in thinking AnaLet broke the glass in her hand when Ramiro told her he knew about her hiring Ev to kill Marcello?
 

Wow, what a coincidence!!! Solebad is the missing sis. Who knew? this plot just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser .

This novela is certainly lacking heroes. No one to cheer for and look up to. Do we definitely know that INaki killed DAn? INaki is a guy I want to like . He reminds me of that guy in high school who was a player but also a charming flirt you couldn't help liking. However, his obsession with AnaLet shows that he is a pretty poor judge of character. Despierta, INaki.

AnaLEt is BSC for sure. Yikes.

I don't like SAnti or Marcelo or SAnticelo or Marcelago ...none of them is appealing to me. Too bad because RUlli is so pretty.

Well, anyhow...these novelas always make the people orbiting me in my real life seem pretty normal by comparison.

 

Daisy and Ria: Yes, pregnancy would certainly complicate everything! If it goes that way, I see miscarriage and baby stealing going on.

Oh, did anyone catch what Evaristo said to Edmundo about the foundation? Did he tell him to drain the funds from it? Why does Ev control everyone's wealth? Seems to me that Ev was behind Nerina's loss of money someone because of Edmundo. Don't these people have CPAs who audit? Seems to me that Edmundo shouldn't be the only accountant in town.
 

Virginia- No. What made her break the glass was learning that Ev knew Marcelo was alive for a while now. In addition, that he knows Ana Lucia is alive.
 

Oh I sure did love the scene where Inaki was getting Santi/Marc drunk as a skunk. Now he will have an excuse when he comes home to Ana Le. He can just say he's been at the bar drinking all day. OH and his ring? I don't know....must have lost it in my drunken stupor.

Virginia, there were a lot of gaps in my Spanish comprehension when I started recapping 10 years ago. All I had was four years of high school Spanish... 20 years earlier. My memory was a bit hazy! But with captions, a good dictionary, and patient and helpful readers, I was motivated, and I surprised myself. So, don't assume you can't do it. You might surprise yourself, too.

Sneaky Looking fwd to your recap once I've caught up on watching

I missed last night's epi. Came home very late & exhausted, but I woke up from a dream this morning that I was watching an episode where the 20 yr revenge is revealed to be that Ev's true love Marguerita was the maid that had the affair with Erne's dad and Ev plans to empty their accounts via Dreadmundo as revenge. And lo and behold, I'm reading that you guys say this happened last night. Holy Smokes, I'm like Chana!! The only difference is that it doesn't appear that there's a connection b/w Leo's Mom & Sole's mom, whereas in my dream they're the same person. I think it's still a possibility. Erne may have 2 half-sisters, but Leo & Sole may be full-blooded sisters. As for AnaLu, it's not clear but did she & Santi actually do it? I was hoping that it would just be a teaser & they wouldn't. Well, if they did then you can definitely expect a pregnancy. *Sigh* This TN is so maddening, I'm not sure where they're heading next. I'm starting to wonder if Dreadmundo's wife has a slot in this too.

Gonna go find an upload, and tomorrow I plan to post my screenshots for my last recap.
 

Urban Here's a link (below) that explains that a DNA test could find out which identical twin is the actual parent. It requires looking at more DNA sequences, rather than segments. It's a very expensive test, but not impossible. I love me some science :)

You know what frustrates me about this TN? I'm not getting the story I want. I want a story about AnaLu and her sisters getting together and healing with their re-integration. It should be a long and interesting process. But instead there is just a ton of nonsense going around and around. Now I get mad every time I see Ramiro, Santiago and all the other people who are conspiring to keep the sisters apart, because those characters are depriving me of the story I want to see!

I mean, I know there is still time for what I want, but we're already past the halfway point which means that this TN has been more about the conspiracy than it's been about the sisters. Ugh. And sigh.

Julie- I was thinking last night as the third Ernestina sister story unfolded, that the writers put a lot of time into thinking up as many ways as possibly to elongate the story and keep the triplet reunion in the background for as long as possible. I remember someone who watched all of Lazos de Amor (the original version) said that, even at only 100 episodes, they worked really hard to stretch out the plot before getting to the reunion, and the tn could have been shorter.
 

Julie- I am 71 years old now. When I was in high school, in rural Ohio, Spanish wasn't offered. My husband is encouraging me to take a some Spanish courses. I am now taking education courses at The University of Akron (for the lessons I write for my on-line teacher store.) Maybe I will look in to studying Spanish. You're never too old to learn!

Vivi - do you know at what point in Lazos - which episode - the reunion finally occurred? Maybe that will provide a clue as to how much longer we'll have to wait.

Virginia - you might as well study Spanish if you have the chance. I wish I'd known about telenovelas when I was in school! Classroom learning alone doesn't really seem to be enough, because real people don't speak like textbook lessons, and textbooks never talk about amnesia and jealous ex-wives. On the other hand, it's much easier to learn what people are saying if you have the background information on vocabulary and grammar and such.

Virginia: You mentioned Ohio and the University of Akron. Do you live in the vicinity of Medina? My son got his masters degree at the University of Akron and he got his Bachelors at Oberlin. Anyway, it's good to have you here and I'm glad you are learning some Spanish along with me and lots of others here. I've taken to watching these novelas because there is nothing much good on regular TV anymore.
 

Vivi It went great! You're sweet for asking. I'm trying to get a position with the Youth Division of a Vegan Organization. I have a few projects they want me to do before I get the offer. But everything sounds promising :)

Still in the middle of watching, here's what I don't get so far:

I still don't get why Ev is looking to blame someone for his nieto's death (who btw has a name! yay) when he's the reason Ram was kidnapped. Not sure why Ram didn't point out to him the way he did w/ Tin that Ev should blame himself for losing his loved one. Seems like someone taped the word "Scapegoat" on Ram's unsuspecting back.

I love Inaki's bad boy attitude. Bel is a bit of a hooch, so I think he's so sweet to look out for Javier like that.

Ugh, Ram actually made sense discussing the need for Santi to get closure of his pasts to clear all doubts so he can move fwd w/ his future. Still, AnaLu's passionate plea broke my heart. She's really hurting. But idk if that still justifies her demands.

Add Chana to the list of monopolized professions in this town. Could Miranda not find any other psychic in town. According to other telenovelas, Mexico is replete with them.


 

part 1

Skipping the rehash
TioM and Old Flame meet up at lunch and chat inconsequentially.
Evaristo and Ramiro are still looking at the wall o’ graves, ‘two people here died for you, you should feel bad oh and don’t forget I can find you anytime’ Ev says. Ram gives Ev the side eye and heads out.

Santicelo and Remedios come home from their walk, he’s reluctant to come in for fear of seeing Analu but she’s out at DanzAire and Sole’s on board w/it Remedios informs him.

Old Flame meets up w/Abue’s friend for lunch to talk bout the mysterious woman msging him and how he’s all twitterpated.

Maribel admires Inaki’s shiny new car and flirts that she wants a ride (*wink, wink, nudge, nudge) but leaves when Javi shows up. Inaki tries to convince Javi he can do better than Maribel, but he’ll help him buy her a prezzie so she’ll sleep w/him and he can get her out of his system.

Analu and Orlando do a romantic dance, Santi sees.

Leonore catches Abue obsessing over the bracelet and expresses her concern, also BadAna could come in at any time and see the bracelet, also Abue looks pale today, well her bestie talked her into doing something that makes her nervous, but she hopes it leads her to Analu.

Llora & Valentindo good works w/music and kids but she’s not really into his project idea, she’ll think about it.

Analu and Ramiro meet; she cries, he makes excuses for Santi that don’t fly even w/credulous Analu. Santiago better come and tell her what’s up to her face or she’s out.

Ev suborns Ramiro’s dad, he wants the foundation to go broke. (so then Llora will have to go along w/Valentin’s project, I guess )

TioM remembers breaking up w/Gina after Ramiro left her. Sue comes to their lunch date but only to tell him she’s too busy to eat and he’s too distracted taking stock of his life to feel too bad about it. She thinks he’s making good changes though.

Inaki has invited Santi to his apt to talk, but has to go somewhere first, and will be right back, wait here, ‘k?

Sole tells her coworker all her business; Analu, Santiago going back to the wife, Analu’s dancing, how she wishes Chana were there to help her control Analu.

Abue is nervous about seeing the psychic her friend has recommended, she’s not sure she believes, but the friend does. The bead curtain parts and hey! Its Chana!

Santiago is waiting patiently in Inaki’s apt and the doorbell rings, hey! Its Analu!
They agree it’s a trick by Inaki to get them together. He makes lame excuses, she cries. He loves em both, what to do, take 6mos to figure it out. (*sigh*) More crying more pleading, they kiss and make up… and out. She’s cool w/being his lover, she’s already the other woman so what does she have to lose. That must be a much better argument than I thought it was, cause the clothes come off.


 

part 2

Abue wants her friend there for the reading, but Chana doesn’t want her energy interfering. The reading starts w/the 3 queens then moves on to sins of the fathers, specifically Abue’s father who got around a lot, apparently Abue has one sister she knows about and one more she doesn’t. Deny as she might, Chana knows the cards don’t lie. The third sister is much younger and was born far away. Abue gets upset and leaves.
Once she’s gone Chana calls Ev. Apparently Ev knows Abue’s friend and fed her stories about how great Chana is. Chana says she wasn’t able to tell Abue all the things he wanted her to, and the cards talked to Chana and she didn’t tell Abue what they said either. They said Abue’s fam was cursed and the person behind all the bad things that happen to them is Evaristo. Ev says Sole’s mom is the reason for all the things he does, even since she died. Chana says all she wanted was for you to take care of Sole and you did, but he says Sole isn’t really his daughter and Sole doesn’t love him, which makes him sad. Chana wants to meet up w/Sole and Analu in the city but Ev says no. She wants to help them, and him, she knows he’s sick, his other grandson will die too and he’ll be all alone at the end, except Chana.

Abue yells at he friend for taking her to a charlatan who didn’t help in the Analu search at all.


Morning after regrets come early for Analu and Santiago, he wants to call it a goodbye lay,(he says it nicer than that, but same diff) she wants to fight for their love, no waiting 6 mos for her, she wants to be w/him now. Marcelo may belong to another, but Santiago is hers. If the wife is gonna fight so will she. She steals his wedding ring and tells him to tell his wife if she wants it back to come to her. She’s not confused, she’s not lost, she knows what she wants and who she wants, she found herself in him, Chana was right all along.

Ramiro and BadAna spar about Santiago, then she asks him where he got Analu’s bracelet, after a token resistance, Ramiro admits it was him who found it and says yep it seems Analu is alive. BadAna takes that bout how you’d expect, and tells him Ev told her Analu was dead, dead, dead. Well Ev is a huge and constant liar, and btw he’s Gina’s granddad, and he doesn’t want Analu found ever, and he lies to everyone, and, and. Oops BadAna has broken a glass and cut her hand, time for Leonore to fuss over her and take her to bed.


Inaki comes by triplet mansion to see BadAna. Ramiro has him and his cunning plan all figured out and won’t help him, but also won’t tell on him. Inaki swears he won’t tell the wife and the mistress they are sisters. He heads upstairs to see BadAna and reminds her Santi is his bud and will be glad to see him, even in his wife’s bedroom and plants seeds of doubt about where her husband is actually right now. BadAna gets upset and Inaki keeps goading her (how does she keep herself from falling out of that dress?) (oops I might have been distracted by her neckline and missed something) Now she’s saying she’ll destroy something, (probably everyone including herself)
Inaki keeps chipping away at her and tries to get her to pay Marcelo back w/the same money (ISBIS) ie sleep w/Inaki. Nope she says and get out, but he gets all up on her anyway and she has to fight him off and send him away so she can have her tantrum/freak out.

Llora gets home and Ramiro gets a kiss and a piano recital while Inaki sneaks out. Ramiro is planning their life together, 2 daughters and Llora slaving away over a hot piano all day. She’s not so sure about that plan, she liked having sisters but BadAna didn’t.

Analu gets home sad and Sole tries to comfort her and get her to move on. (oh she’s so getting pregnant from this)

Santi waits for Inaki to come home so he can open his heart to him and tell all. Santi is all broke up about having sex w/2 hot sisters. Its evident that wouldn’t bother Inaki at all, but he breaks out the comfort booze.


 

Part 3

BadAna calls tioM to tell him her husband isn’t home yet and she thinks he’s with the other woman. TioM tries to convince her maybe he isn’t. She wants him to come over and comfort her. No can do, got a date w/Sue. (tch her night is just getting worse by the minute)
Sue and TioM’s date: he’s got candles, flowers and soft music. She senses a seduction plot and calls him on it. He says its all for only her and he’s never done this before. She says his tricks won’t work on her, but when she sees the chef in the tall white hat he’s hired she laughs delightedly.

Drunk!Santiago waxes poetical bout Analu and Inaki eggs him on
Meanwhile BadAna fumes and plots to meet the other woman.
And Analu looks inside the ring and sees the name engraved there. Now she knows the wife’s name. Ana Leticia.
And that’s all the excitement for this episode.

I did see the very last bit where AnaLu read the name inside the ring. I hope she remembers that's what Facundo called her by "mistake" a few weeks ago.

I also desperately hope that this TN departs from Lazos de Amor and lets the sisters meet sooner. If that doesn't happen, then I'd really like for someone else to re-re-remake the TN and do it MY way! LOL
 

Anna- Ohio girl! What a small world! I grew up on a farm in Norton. After a divorce in my 30's, my children and I moved to Wadsworth. I drove to Cleveland every day to teach at the Elementary School of Arts for over twenty-five years. My second husband and I live in Wadsworth with our two dogs.

You live close to me. We should meet sometime for lunch.

Virginia and Anna: Next time I'm in Ohio, we should all get together. My son now lives in Columbus, but flights to Cleveland are so much less expensive. So I'll probably fly into Cleveland next time.
 

Great work, Sneaky, and count me as someone who is hoping that they don't wait until the last week to bring all three sisters in the same room. Although I'd rather it not play out as I have speculated earlier.

Just for once I'd like to see a novela heroine avoid the cliche pregnancy plot despite how ripe this scenario is for it. More later; I have to get dressed to go out.

Virginia...of course you can learn Spanish. Even without enrolling in a course. I tried some adult ed courses and they just moved too slow for me. So I started listening to tapes from the library and buying "teach yourself Spanish" books when I was 64. And then my husband found the Univision channel for me and I was hooked (although at first all I could understand was "casa blanca" and Presidente Bush". Very frustrating at first because I wanted to learn it NOW and I'm just not that brilliant. For most of us, language needs to seep in slowly little by little. But the years will go by whether you're learning Spanish or not. So why not learn!

AnaBananaNabil...I'm excited that your interview with the vegan society went well. I cook vegan/whole foods for my husband who has heart issues. He's thriving on it. When my students (I teach fitness classes) have health problems I always recommend vegan but nobody wants to follow it. My only success was a friend whose husband had open heart surgery and plenty of complications afterwards. They're both doing very well, and she's off her statins and beta blockers. Both their cardiologists are very impressed with their progress. SO I HOPE YOU GET THE JOB AND CHANGE THE WORLD!
 

Virginia I agree w/ everyone, it's not too late to learn Spanish, or any other language for that matter. My mother almost didn't go to college in her 40s b/c she thought herself to old, she said that in 4 years she'll be 44 and who'd hire her. But I told her, well in 4 years you're still going to be 44 and who'd hire you then (w/o schooling). And off to college she went. She's now an International Relations Assistant Manager who handles princes, paupers, and political big wigs at one of the top hospitals in the nation. Put your mind to something, and you'll go farther than you expected!

 

Oh and I just realized you called me an Ohio girl, but I'm actually a NYC girl who's lived in Ohio for about a decade. Does that still make me an Ohio girl? lol :P

JudyB I knew I felt a kindred spirit in thee! Yay, another vegan for the win! My sister just became a vegan 2 years ago just from observing the changes in me. I don't like to push people, I let the results speak for themselves. And then last month, my mom made the switch after I sat her down in front of Cowspiracy and Speciesism. After that, there was no looking back. It's better to just present the data, and let people come to the conclusion on their own. I'm happy more people are learning about the environmental, economical, and health impacts. I can also understand the urgency in some vegans being pushy b/c time is running out. I believe 2030 is the deadline where the cusp of climate effects become irreversible, 2048 is the deadline for sealife extinction, and 2050 for wildlife. That's not factoring in drought, soil erosion, land desertification, waste pollution, fuel depletion, etc. Who knew steak was such a resource-intensive product or that livestock had any effects on rainforests, oceans, & wildlife?! I really hope I get the job so I can be more involved in this pioneer work :)
 

I hope you get the job too Anna. I love your passion and we need that if there is ever going to be any change. It's very hard to give up beloved food and traditions. But wonderful to feel so much healthier and energetic than before. And to be contributing to a cleaner environment. I've "cheated" off and on, diet-wise for years,(you know..."oh a little bit can't hurt me") but a few months ago got sick and tired of being sick and tired and really stuck to it. What a difference! Inconsistent changes don't work. But radical ones really do.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you amiga mia and really admire your Mom! Yay!

And speaking of "Ohio girls" I've lived all over the US and in several European countries but I now consider myself an Ohioan after 40 some years here! Ohio seeps in!
 

Gracias querida! I've been there, it's a part of being human. I tell my mom any progress is better than none. Glad you're doing well now. You're in Ohio too!
