A Que No Me Dejas (AQNMD) #6. Monday September 19, 2016. This Episode Was Brought To You By Straitjackets R Us And Waiter-Outers Anonymous

Aggravated assault and attempted suicide did not get me locked up, so I am trying my luck again!

At a glance

-- Operation Silent Love is still underway, with two orbiters circuling around our Silent Lovers, waiting for the opportunity to swoop in once the relationship crashes and burns.
-- Julieta is still running amok... And not in a padded cell.

A closer look

Camilo jumps in to save Paulina from her family’s relentless interrogation. He pretends he was the biker who picked her up, as witnessed by runteldat Nuria. Paulina and Camilo announce that they are not rekindling their romance as of yet, but they are giving themselves the opportunity to get close to one another and see if they can revive the love that once united them. Camilo says he is sure of his feelings towards Paulina but he understands that she still loves Adrián and needs time to define her own feelings. Nuria says she doesn’t believe the pair. They are lying liars who lie and she will demonstrate it! Vitch, get a job!

At Karen’s place, Adrián packs his things while he chews the fat with his hostess. Karen informs him that Paulina wants to sell the boutique’s clothes in Playa Linda until she gets a steady job. Adrián is touched that his ladylove is doing her best to support him. That’s why he loves her so much and is so proud of her: She is a supportive woman and a go-getter! Karen says she is proud of both of them and she’ll miss them very much. Adrián acknowledges that, at first, it’ll be difficult for him and Paulina to get used to the drastic change. They’ll miss Puerto Esperanza and the people they love, but what truly matters is that the two of them will be together. Karen agrees. She instructs Adrián to give her his contact details once he gets to Playa Linda so she can pass them on to Paulina. She also warns him not to call Paulina directly at Casa Murat, so as not to sabotage Operation Silent Love.

Back at Casa Murat, the Nuria Inquisition continues. She insists that the man who picked up Paulina rode a motorbike and it was Adrián. Camilo informs her that he too has a motorbike and his mom, Raquel, corroborates this fact. Besides, wasn’t Nuria the one who urged him to regain Paulina’s love: “All I’m doing is follow your advice!” Paulina thinks it’s best to close the subject and concentrate on finding Mauricio. Inés concurs. She is happy that Camilo and Paulina are giving their relationship another go. Funny how these people are taking their sweet time discussing mundanities while a 5 year-old deaf-mute child is missing.

At Kidnappers’ Motel, Édgar throws a sandwich at Mauricio’s feet. The frightened child hides in the TV cabinet. Édgar drags him out of there and orders him to eat.

Paulina and Camilo decide to go looking for Mauricio in Karen’s place and in the ice cream parlor where Paulina takes Mauricio. Nuria insists they are lying and sooner or later she will prove it. Besides, it’s absurd that Paulina would agree to get back with Camilo when she is still in love with Adrián. Gonzalo orders Nuria to cut it out already! Better go out and look for Mauricio!

Chelo, Beto and his mother Micaela look for Mauricio in the marina. Chelo feels guilty for leaving the child alone during his nap time. Beto tells her not to blame herself. Funny how he affectionately calls her chaparrita/shorty when he is actually shorter than her. Beto wonders if Nuria was the one who took the child out of the house. Micaela and Chelo dismiss this possibility. Beto reminds them that Nuria completely lost her rag (se puso como energúmeno) when she learnt that Mauricio will be living permanently at Casa Murat. He then recounts how he witnessed Nuria leave the house by the front door then sneak back in, a few minutes later, through the back entrance. However, he had to run some errands and didn’t get a chance to see what happened after that. Perhaps she forgot something, thinks Mica. Then why didn’t she come back through the front door like she always does? Nuria never uses the back entrance! Mica says they must tell their bosses about this even if it spells trouble for them. Or at the very least, they ought to inform Paulina.

Nuria calls Édgar to let him know that her father alerted the police. Édgar freaks out. His alcohol-soaked neurons didn’t expect the police to get involved in a child’s disappearance. Nuria tells him not to worry. He is still legally the father of Mauricio and nobody can accuse him of kidnapping. Moreover, her parents haven’t yet discarded the possibility that Mauricio went outside and got lost. She instructs Édgar to stay in hiding and take extra precautions. The drunken vermin is glad that Gonzalo and his wife are suffering. That way they won’t hesitate in paying up the money he requests. He adds that he needs that cash right away because his worthless life depends on it.

The Paulina-Camilo search party is taking a leisurely stroll on the sea promenade, instead of, I don’t know, actively looking for the missing child! Paulina thanks Camilo for helping out in Operation Silent Love. Only a love as strong as the one she feels for Adrián would push her to hurt her family this way. Camilo assures her that he understands: “I know, that’s why I’m on your side. All I want is to see you happy, and if I can contribute to that happiness I’ll do it! I’m all yours! Let’s protect this secret!” Either this guy is too noble for his own good or he’s just waiting out the relationship. Paulina says she didn’t expect this from Camilo but she will accept his help because she really needs it. She informs him that “if” they find Mauricio (if, not when), she’ll marry Adrián at the end of the month and they’ll move together to Playa Linda. Camilo is taken aback by the news and tries to hide his displeasure as best as he can: “Ah, look! You two ARE in a hurry!” Paulina confesses she feels bad for ditching the job that her dad gave her. She had accepted it because she thought she and Adrián would get married further down the line. Camilo assures her that he will stay up-to-date with her work duties and will hire a replacement after she leaves. “Thanks! You’re the best! I’ll never forget what you’re doing for me!” “Let’s look for Mau. Shall we?” And finally, after this relaxed interlude, the search party finally gets down to searching.

Adrián shows up at Casa Córdova, his sister’s and brother-in-law’s house. Julieta excitedly runs out to greet him. She welcomes him back home and tries to take his suitcase off the motorbike. Adrián explains that the suitcase doesn’t mean he is moving back to Casa Córdova. In fact, he is moving to Playa Linda because, since the scandal at Casa Murat, Jaime’s agency is practically bankrupt (al borde de la quiebra). That’s why Adrián needs to go to Playa Linda. Jaime’s cousins want to partner up with them and bring them some new business. Julieta accuses Adrián of lying to her: He’s moving there with Paulina, isn’t he? Isn’t he? Vitch, get a vat of liquid Valium and bury your head in it!

At Agencia Córdova, Gisela, the lady who poses as Julieta’s friend but who in reality is waiting out the Córdova’s marriage, tells Jaime that she tried her best to reason with the unreasonable Julieta but to no avail. Her “friend” didn’t pay her any heed. Jaime thanks her for trying. Gisela says there’s nothing to be grateful for. She cares about Julieta but she also cares about Jaime. She understands how he feels: He is excluded and a stranger in his own house. Jaime says she couldn’t have verbalized his feelings any better. “Sorry to have to tell you this but, unfortunately, I don’t think Julieta is going to change or commit to her psychiatric treatment!” she affirms. Jaime agrees: This attempt is going to be a waste of time. Gisela remarks that since Adrián is leaving for Playa Linda, Jaime is going to need a confidant(e) more than ever, someone to whom he can vent. She holds his hand and makes googly eyes at him: “You can count on me! I’m here for anything your might need!” And I mean ANYTHING! Rrrr! Meow!

Back at Casa Córdova, Julieta is having a major freakout over Adrián’s move to Playa Linda. Why must he go there? Why? Why? Jaime trusts him and they need to get new clients, that’s why. Besides, distance will help him forget Paulina. Julieta says this is all Paulina’s fault. Adrián reminds her that, if it weren’t for her crazy shenanigans, he would’ve been able to marry Paulina AND live nearby. He wouldn’t have had to be away from Paulina or from his sister. Julieta doesn’t relent. She takes this as an invitation to tag along: “If you’re leaving, I’m going with you! I’ll go get my things and...” “Noooo! You need to stay here with your husband! That’s the appropriate thing to do!” She clutches his hand and starts rubbing it while frantically repeating: “No, no, no! I want to be with you! You and I have never been separated, sweetheart! Please, don’t do it! Please, don’t do it! Please!” Adrián reassures her that this is only temporary. Jaime and her will be able to join him in Playa Linda real soon. This seems to calm her down a wee bit.

Paulina and Camilo look for Mauricio but don’t find him. They report this to their parents who are gathered at Casa Murat. Raquel figures the kid must be with Édgar. Alfonso, Camilo’s father, reckons that Édgar has not left the city because there is no record of him leaving. He hasn’t bought a plane, bus or ferry ticket, nor has he rented a car. “But how could he do that if the sanamabish doesn’t have any money?” blurts out Gonzalo, before realizing his mistake. “But didn’t you give him a check with a substantial (sustanciosa) amount of money that he has already cashed?” asks Camilo. Gonzalo suggests that it’s very likely Édgar lost the money. He is always drunk as a skunk and he has thugs threatening him. Paulina doesn’t think Édgar has Mauricio, otherwise he would have already called and demanded money. Gonzalo thinks they can expect anything from Édgar and his twisted mind.

In the kitchen, Chelo and Micaela light a candle and pray for Mauricio’s safe return. Paulina comes in to ask for coffee and biscuits to be served to the guests. Micaela tells her about Nuria’s suspicious behavior prior to Mauricio’s disappearance.

Nuria is back home. She is surprised that everyone is still gathered in the living room. Inés tells her they’ve had no news about Mauricio. Nuria reckons they won’t see “the little deaf boy” again. Gonzalo scolds her for referring to Mauricio that way. Paulina comes back from the kitchen and confronts her older sister. Why did she leave the house then sneak back in using the back door, just before Mauricio vanished? Nuria says she had to return right away because she forgot her credit card inside, and she had to use the back door because she didn’t have her keys on her. Paulina thinks it is too much of a coincidence that Mauricio disappeared right around the time Nuria sneaked back into the house. Nuria is outraged by the accusation. She is not the wicked villainess of the fairytale. She may not have accepted that Mauricio live in their house but she would have never done anything to hurt him. Inés and Gonzalo agree and stand by their eldest daughter.

Nuria goes to the kitchen and spills milk all over the counter on purpose. She warns Micaela and Chelo to stop talking about her or else.

Karen phones Adrián to let him know that little Mauricio is missing

Jaime is in the kitchen of his house, pouring himself a glass of cold horchata, minding his own business, when Julieta physically attacks him. She peppers her wild smacks with wild accusations that her husband was the one who exiled Adrián to Playa Linda. He asks her to calm down and reminds her that the move is due to business problems that she herself caused. Julieta wants the two of them to move to Playa Linda right away. Jaime says they can’t do it now. Julieta insists they go immediately because Adrián needs her. Jaime says that Adrián doesn’t need her. He is a grown man and he can take care of himself. Julieta begs Jaime to swear to her that Adrián didn’t go to Playa Linda with “that woman”. Jaime refuses to swear anything. Adrián is a grown man! Jaime tells Julieta she can believe whatever the heck she wants! He’s had it with her!

The next morning, Adrián goes to the agency of Jaime’s cousins. One of the cousins is Odette, a young lady who thinks it’s OK to come to the office dressed like a Selena impersonator. She makes googly eyes at Adrián and offers to be his personal guide in Playa Linda. Oh, great! Another waiter-outer! She presents him to her brother Darío who welcomes him and says they ought to get down to work right away.

Paulina didn’t sleep a wink because she is worried sick about Mauricio. Nuria intercepts her the second she leaves her bedroom. Paulina remarks that her sister doesn’t look affected at all by Mauricio’s disappearance. Nuria agrees. Why fake when she never liked Édgar or the fact that he unloaded his kid on the Murat family. She changes the subject to pester her sister over Camilo. She is sure that their supposed relationship is a lie. She doesn’t understand why Camilo is doing Paulina this favor (hacer el paro) but Nuria vows to expose their pretend relationship! Paulina tells Nuria she needs to find herself a novio pronto. “That way you’ll stop chasing my boyfriends!” Oooh, burrrn!

At Casa Fonseca, Alfonso congratulates his son for his relationship with Paulina, because he didn’t get a chance to do it at night. Camilo tells his dad not to get ahead of himself. This attempt at closeness doesn’t necessarily mean that Paulina will accept to rekindle their romance. Raquel concurs. In fact, she believes this decision to give the relationship another try was hasty, because rebounds don’t always help one get over a failed relationship. When Raquel goes outside, she discovers that Camilo’s motorbike has not been used by him as he claimed yesterday at Casa Murat. Upstairs, Camilo amorously pronounces Paulina’s name, as he recalls the conversation they had on the sea promenade, when they were busy not looking for Mauricio.

At Casa Murat, Paulina confides to Karen what happened with Camilo yesterday. His noble gesture and willingness to volunteer in Operation Silent Love reminded her why she once fell in love with him. Karen believes what Camilo did what can only be done by a man who truly knows how to love. Paulina doesn’t think Camilo is that deeply in love with her as Karen surmises. Karen disagrees. She can tell Camilo is head-over-heels in love with Paulina, and so can Adrián! In fact, Adrián’s reaction to this little farce worries Karen. Paulina maintains that Adrián trusts her and she trusts him. She feels it’s best not to tell him over the phone and risk that her parents blow their cover. Besides, Adrián is very jealous and Paulina prefers to tell him in person about her pretend relationship with Camilo.

At Playa Linda, Adrián’s presentation to his prospective clients is a success so, naturally, Odette showers him with praise.

Chelo is at church pleading with the Virgin to protect Mauricio and bring him back home safe and sound.

Édgar calls Casa Murat and demands that Gonzalo pay him the same amount of money that was stolen from him. He needs the cash urgently or else he’ll get killed. Gonzalo instructs Édgar to bring the kid to Casa Murat and get his money there. Édgar gives Gonzalo three hours to gather the requested sum and procure a getaway car. Gonzalo agrees. Paulina wonders how Édgar managed to get Mauricio out of Casa Murat. Nuria says “Don’t look at me!”

The thugs that pursue Édgar intercept Chelo outside Casa Murat and ask her where her boss is. She tells them Édgar isn’t in the house and neither is his son. They don’t believe her but Beto arrives and they scram.

Nuria calls Édgar and reminds him that the deal was for Édgar to get the money and for Mauricio to never return to Casa Murat. She tells Édgar she’ll leave a gun for him in a flowerpot (maceta) at the entrance of Casa Murat. Once Édgar receives his money, he must grab the child again at gunpoint and take him away, later abandoning him in some faraway orphanage. Nuria warns Édgar that if he does not obey her orders, she’ll ensure he never gets a cent of her dad’s money.

Alfonso and Camilo get the ransom money from Gonzalo’s office vault. Camilo remarks that the money contained in the vault is the exact sum that Édgar demanded. It is also the exact amount of the check that Gonzalo gave Édgar when the latter signed over Mauricio’s custody.

Nuria plants the gun for Édgar in the agreed spot outside Casa Murat.

Paulina, Karen, Inés and Gonzalo kill time by dissing Édgar. The phone rings and Micaela says it’s for Paulina, from her friend Odette. Paulina says she doesn’t know anyone named Odette. She takes the call and discovers it’s actually Adrián, calling from his new office in Playa Linda. Paulina gives him the latest news regarding Mauricio. He is relieved that Mauricio will return home soon. He tells her he loves her mucho while Odette tries to hide her disappointment. After Paulina hangs up, Gonzalo asks her why she said earlier that she didn’t know anybody by the name Odette. Paulina says that the worry has her confused. Odette is a classmate from university. Paulina had cancelled a coffee date with her because of what happened with Mauricio. Odette called to check on her and on the Mauricio situation.

Julieta barges into Casa Murat, in all her lunatic glory, to double-check that Paulina is in her house and not in Playa Linda with Adrián. Paulina asks her to please leave her house, now that she has had the chance to verify with her own eyes that Paulina hasn’t gone to Playa Linda. Julieta tells Paulina that even though she didn’t go with Adrián, she is the one responsible for separating the two siblings: “I’ve never hated anybody as much as I hate the lot of you!” she yells as she lunges at Paulina, warning her to stay away from her brother. Gonzalo stops her before she could get to his daughter. He calls her crazy and throws her out of his house.

Adrián thanks Odette for her help. She thinks it’s odd that he can’t talk to his own girlfriend. Adrián offers to take Odette to lunch and explain everything to her, since she is his new accomplice. Operation Silent Love is so top-secret that only 6 people know about it so far.

Nuria asks Paulina whether she knew that Adrián moved to Playa Linda. She also insinuates that Julieta was here because she too doesn’t trust the breakup story.

Édgar and Mauricio are on their way to Casa Murat. Édgar refuses to hold the kid’s hand or carry him. He is intercepted by the thugs that have been threatening to kill him. He pleads with them to spare his life. He was robbed yesterday but he’ll have their money today. They don’t believe him. One of them draws a gun. Édgar runs like a little vitch and leaves poor Mauricio behind. The thug shoots at Édgar. Here’s hoping he doesn’t miss.

A quote from the capítulo

“La vergüenza no me sirve de nada, en cambio el dinero sí.”

*Édgar has no shame and is not ashamed to admit it: “Shame is not useful to me, whereas money is.”

Hello Patio Pals! Hope you had a great weekend! Please forgive the tardiness. Enjoy the recap and the discussion. Catch you later! :)

Thank you Nandicta! Well this was juicy, no? I loved Micaelas Betos and Chelos train of thought after Beto revealed what happened with Nuria. Thinking people are apparently becomibg the norm.

Paulina needs to stop running from Julieta though. Shes such a frightened little girl and Julieta smells blood.

Nandicta- I loved every word and it was worth the wait. Loved Operation Silent Love (OSL), which is becoming an open secret. Also chuckled as you pointed out how these folks were wasting time chatting about OSL instead of the missing deaf-mute 5 year old! I was thinking the same thing.

So many waiter-outers, just waiting for Jaime, Adrian, and Paulina's relationships to fail, so that they can swoop on and claim the spoils. "a young lady who thinks it’s OK to come to the office dressed like a Selena impersonator" LOL! Everyone here is sporting tropical beachwear, but Odette was taking things to another level.

Great work, Nandicta.

How is it that Julieta hasn't driven her husband to suicide by now? Why does he continue to put up with this insanity? It's long past the point where threats of giggle jackets and padded rooms are effective; it's time to impose them.

Edgar is the scum of the earth. If this is his Karmageddon I'm all for it.

Nuria is setting herself up for a severe one, too. To do this to a truly defenseless child... I have no words.

Thanks, Nandicta!

Yes, Nuria is vile, and she's just getting started. . . .

. . .just like that cracked nut job, Julieta.

Speaking of waiter-outers, Jaime seems to be waiting for that screw ball to have a truly nuclear melt down! Jeezo-pete!

How long before the two of them form what you called "a partnership made in hell!"

Loving the pace and I don't know if my DVR cuts off before they air, but I'm also loving NO PREVIEWS!

Thanks for a wonderful recap.

And thank you. Yes we had a great "day of the yell" celebrating the 206th anniversary of independence.

You know? When we were kids we already spoke english without knowing what we were actually saying. We used "sanababiche" and "Huatinfor" for you know what and for "is not your business". While later on we deciphered the first one, the second has remained a mystery to me. Was that supposed to mean "what import?" (qué te importa?)

And while we are already way out of topic, but since you like british comedy series, let me ask you something. Some time ago I watched the CARRY ON CHRISTMAS MOVIE and theres a sketch about a caveman, who plays and sings a song that says something like (my british english is not good at all): One two three, mama got a flea. Song that we used to sing as kids as "one two three, mala calafree, hijo de la mala de la one two three, and some more... does anybody remember something about it?

Nandicta- That screen shot of Juli is pretty terrifying.

Nandicta, good recap. A lot going on with the kidnaping, lying liar sister
Deadbeat daddy & lying double family daddy. Nuria don't want Edgar to have any of her fathers money(her fathers money) not hers. The vitch feels entitled. Wait until she finds out about her two little brothers from another mother. What a family reunion
That will be.

Gracias Nandicta!

I am kind of iffy about Julie. She is a dangereous person but is also hilarious to watch her in loony action. Let's hope she doesnt have nay secret twin sisters! Then the show can get renamed to "Tres Gotas de Clorox" ! Speaking of which there have been actual challenges of chugging bleach. The Natural selection never ceases to surprise us,

Nuria seems to be the enemy that is soowly but slowly falling to the same edge Julie fell. As much as bad and selfish Gonzo is, I wouldn't condemn him to a battle with two fierce, devil possessed, obsessed nutcases.

Now I have to catch up to yesterday's episode. And once again, why is this series not in Prime Time?

It's not in prime time because Loonivision is a pair of bigots who can't appreciate real art. The copy paste shows always get more attention than something new and original. I can now see why Televisa made their own streaming service (Blim). It has it's downsides( Such as an distrubing lack of Amor Real&Pasion) but overall it is a great experience( What sucks though is that you have to use a Mexican VPN to access it)

I admit that I like some of the casual shows but everything has a limit such as remakes of remakes of remakes of the same shows over and over again.

Nandicta this was so much fun! I had to chuckle at your keen observations about folks just taking their sweet time to look for precious Mau. I really chuckled at your Vitch, get a job but the one that made me howl the most was Vitch, get a vat of liquid Valium and bury your head in it! I so agree, she's really wearing my nerves with all of her begging, twitching and itching. I'm surprised other's aren't on valium just to deal with her.

Doesn't Nuria have anything to do? Any friends? What a pointless life she has. She wakes up and makes it her mission to cause trouble. At least Dani on PyP had an active social life and friends. Nuria is just an annoying gnat with no purpose.

I still think Camilo is not as noble as it appears. He's going to use this to his advantage in some way.

I hope Jaime gets his groove back. I'm not a person who supports stepping outside the marriage but If I was married to Julieta, it would either be shoot her or myself. Go Jaime!

Die Edgar Die!!!!

Nice organizing motif for this one, Nandicta. Lots of folks "waiting out" in order to swoop in and collect the leavings, and I would add that Gonzalo's amante (or at least her mom!) is also waiting out to see if the Murat marriage can be busted up.

Loved your "dressed like a Selena impersonator". In my day we would have said Carmen Miranda. But time and culture move on!

Enjoyed the vocabulary...especially "hacer el paro" and really enjoyed the link to information on horchata and how it's made in various countries.

I'm not liking this story much but I'm certainly loving the recaps.

I think this story is still going through some growing pains...I feel itll get a lot better as more things start to unravel. It started at 12 points ots first months and ended at 20 points so there is a lot to grow from.

Delilah Im hoping Camilo doesnt go the evol crazy route. If anything he should help Paulina then more on after shes married. Fingers crossed!

Hello Patio Pals! Many thanks for taking the time to read and comment! I'm sorry I can't join the discussion but I really appreciate all their great comments. Catch you later! Good night :)
