Tres Veces Ana: Karmageddon Awaits!

It's time for Karmageddon to strike and this is probably the longest list of the deserving. So let's not waste any time. The same two questions:

  • What do you think the writers will do to them?
  • What do you think they deserve?

Ana Leticia Alvarez de Castillo / Angelique Boyer

Guilty of causing accident leading to the death of her parents and consequences to both sisters, incestuous hots for Tio Mariano, poisoning the relationship between Ana Laura and Ramiro, murder of Jennifer, cheating on Marcelo, theft of heirloom earrings from Ernestina, hiring Evaristo to kill Marcelo, inciting Iñaki to kill his own brother after paying Evaristo to rough Daniel up. Guilty of impersonating both sisters with the intent to ruin their reputation, planning the demise of Ana Lucia, seducing Iñaki into taking part in that scheme. Guilty also of issuing more insults to the most undeserving people, telling various lies to hurt others, sexual manipulation of anything in pants, and being a spoiled brat all tarted up.

Soledad Hernandez / Blanca Guerra

Guilty of failing to return Ana Lucia to her family of origin despite knowledge of their search. Collusion with Evaristo to hide from authorities and to sully Marcelo's name. Guilty also of using Orlando as an enforcer in her imprisonment of Ana Lucia, ongoing failure to come clean with Ana Lucia about her backstory, constant kidnap and escape plotting, and of hypocrisy in her dealings with others.

Julieta / Luz Maria Jérez

Guilty of abandoning Tadeo and their two children, possibly taking Daniel away from his natural father, insulting and rejecting Iñaki and Javier, and of deceiving her second husband and the rest of society about who she really is.

Evaristo Guerra / Eric del Castillo

Guilty of protecting Soledad from the consequences of her actions, gaslighting SantMarc, attempting to turn others against each other through lies, taking Ernestina's money with no intention of delivering on the purpose of the investigation. Guilty of at least three murders directly (Remedios' husband, Soledad's lover and most recently his own grandson). Also guilty of attempted murder (Marcelo), multiple previous acts of violence, manipulation, financial fraud, and of thinking he is Vito Corleone.

Iñaki Najera / Pedro Moreno

Guilty of rejection of Tadeo, disowning him for the sake of social climbing. Also guilty of extorting a large undisclosed sum of dinero from Ghoulieta in exchange for donating liver tissue to Daniel, then later killing Daniel at the instigation of Ana Leticia. Also betrayed SantMarc's friendship, the promise of participating in Ana Leticia's murder scheme, and guilty of extreme stupidity in not seeing Ana Leticia for what she is.

Orlando / Alfredo Gatica

Guilty of stalking Ana Lucia, accessory to aggravated assault, and acting as Soledad's enforcer. Also guilty of multiple acts of violence (contributing to the eventual demise of Daniel and lately against Maribel), stalking Ana Leticia, attempted murder, incredibly stupid misogyny, and frequent failure to bathe and wash his hair.

Valentin Padilla Lazcano / Carlos de la Mota

Guilty of impoverishing his mother, of defrauding Mariano of major sums of dinero, stalking and attempted seduction of Ana Laura, attempted murder of Marcelo, complicity in fleecing of the foundation's money, and general creepiness.

Claudia Rivas / Anahi Fraser

Conspiring with Valentin to impoverish their mother and to conceal his creepiness from Ana Laura, accepting money from Ana Leticia to break up budding relationship of Mariano and Viridiana, attempted blackmail or extortion of Mariano for information about Ana Lucia, and thinking she is so much better than everyone else.

Mariano Alvarez de Castillo / Ramiro Fumazoni

Guilty of collusion in the death of Gina Ramirez, past womanizing, attempting to rule the lives of his adult nieces, enabling of Ana Leticia, and rank stupidity in failing to see her intentions toward him.

Facundo Salvaterra / Fabián Pizzorno

Guilty of mental cruelty, collusion with the ultimate goal of separating Marcelo from Ana Lucia, using his son's mental health issue to make a killer of him, possible major greed, and definite major snobbery.

Isidro / Antonio Medellin

Guilty of serious creepiness, perverted intent toward Ana Lucia, and making us all lose our lunches.

[No mug shot after multiple searches]
Edmundo Fuentes / Rolando Brito

Guilty of multiple acts of financial fraud in collusion with Evaristo Guerra, of setting up Valeria Castrejon Olmedo to take the fall for the fleecing of the foundation, of gross cruelty to his only child, and of snobbery of the worst kind.

Urban, inspired.

I have been at Caray more than 8 years and know that many here were here before I. I am struggling, but I cannot recall any TN I've seen where there are simply so many rotten and extremely unlikeable characters. Patio peeps?

The screen shots were perfect.

Fist, I was wondering if you had considered adding Marcelo? Just a thought...

I particularly enjoyed "frequent failure to bathe and wash his hair" (Orlando) and "general creepiness" (Valentin). For some reason "[No mug shot after multiple searches]" had me laughing out loud.

Reprehensible children and parents. Aside from Ana and Ev (whom I consider the worst), Julieta is not far behind (IMHO). She turned her back on her sons for want of a better life and never looked back. I wonder how she ever slept at night.

There are so few "good" people to root for but the acting has been stellar. Almost as good as the recaps!

Thank you UA.

Diana

Evaristo is getting his anvil already: all of his grandchildren are dead and he's lost in the haze of Alzheimer's. Soledad will never love him, care for him or see him as a father. Death would be a welcome relief.

Inaki will either end up in jail for the murder of Daniel or dead. I think Tadeo has washed his hands of him and once Julieta finds out, she will wash her hands of him too. He will lose his executive job; Ana Leticia will wash her hands of him too. Dead would actually be a relief for Inaki.

Ana Leticia will probably end up in a psychiatric hospital/jail. No way do they kill off a triplet.

Other characters:

Jail for Edmundo

Death for Orlando, Valentin and Isidro

Rejection for Facundo, Claudia, Maribel & Julieta (and possibly Mariano via Viridiana)

Isolation: Soledad. I don't think they will have her go to jail or die, with the knowledge she is Ernestina's sister. I do think she'll slink back to San Nicolas and punish herself with isolation.

Death for Marcelo. Marcelo Salvaterra has to die.

I would say most of the characters on both "Yo No Creo" and "Yago" were unlikeable.

Great list, Urban. Don't forget to add the murder of Alfredo and the attempted murder of Marcelo to Evaristo's list.

Took care of that. Now for some of my predictions/sentences:

Ana Leticia: I agree that it's unlikely the writers will kill her off. They are more likely to put her in a manicomio. However, I want a bigger punishment for her, which is to lose her beauty, especially if it is the result of any scheme meant to kill Ana Lucia. That will send her straight to the giggle jacket even before she is sentenced to life in prison by a judge. The rejection of Mariano will make her suicidal in an environment where she would be watched 24/7 to prevent it. The final straw would be to see Ana Laura in the next Kenneth Cole ad. That should have her screaming loud enough to be in a horror movie.

Soledad might get of scot free from the writers once Ernestina knows she is her sister. However I want her to get a major attack of conscience. You can't teach a child right from wrong when you ignore those rules yourself. Ana Lucia should give her the Cut Direct for a while until she learns, wherever she ends up.

Evaristo: He's getting his now so anything I would have chosen is moot. He may soon enjoy the oblivion of lost memory, like Briony Tallis in Atonement if he doesn't have a heart attack first.

More later.

I agree that Evaristo is experiencing his Karma right now, but I want him to be locked up somewhere to protect others. However, I want him to also (sporadically) experience prolonged moments of lucidity so that he can suffer again and again all his losses, specifically the one where he killed his own grandson. And I want this to happen on visiting day and in front of Chana, who will probably be not only the only one who will visit him, but is also the only one who will tell him the truth about what he did and not care about sparing his feelings, with her matter-of-fact, "Yup, that's exactly what you did, EV . . . EV, meet Karma ... Karma, this is EV!"

Still mulling over the others, but would love to see AnaLaura as a Kenneth Cole model.

I'm so exhausted from this TN that I almost don't care what happens to most of these people as long as it's bad.

AnaLet belongs in a madhouse, and I think that's where she'll end up.

What Anon4:18 describes for Evaristo sounds fine with me.

For everyone else, I'd be satisfied with jail, though death is more likely for some.

I'm prepared to be disappointed about Soledad. I can't imagine that her half-sister would allow her to go to jail, yet it seems pointless to kill her off (it would cause suffering to others), so what kind of punishment can she have? Unless she gets a sudden attack of integrity and turns herself in to the authorities and does some time. I wouldn't bet money on that one, though.

Didn't someone suggest recently that Soledad should join a convent? That's not such a bad idea. I don't know if it could be considered punishment or not, but I sure wouldn't like it!

Diana, yeah, we could get a list even longer of people who got on our nerves or should get some comeuppance. Heck, Abue needs a good slap up the head.

I don't really care about Claws, Isi or even Facundo for that matter. They can just get swallowed by a sink hole.

I don't know if Julietta even gets an anvil with these writers. I would like to see hubby kick her to the curb, lose her society place and become poor again. Not sure they will bother to do anything though.

I doubt Tin gets killed off, but losing everything and everyone and either going back to his hovel and drinking himself to oblivion or winding up in jail is suitable.

I am sooo disappointed in Inaki--I had such hopes he would be an insider to trip up the nutjob AnaLoon, but he fell into her trap. Killed off, on the fence on that. If they do, I'd like him to do something that sets AnaLoon up or gets the information on what she did out to others. At the least, he's a jailbird I guess.

Oily, dead. Ev, his demise is coming already.

AnaLoon--the set up has been to see her going more and more unhinged. As she loses it all, she will go insane. They won't kill her off. I can see her revert back to a child mentality or, as suggested, losing her looks which she always threw in everyone's face, and stare at a mirror all day where she still sees her former, beautiful self.

Soledad is the question mark. I still think the writers want us to be sorry for her--and they could really go there and have her forgiven and redeemed at the end. I'll blow a gasket if that happens. Suicide, yes, I see that. It isn't she can't live without AnaLu, she can't be alone with her guilt and is deathly afraid of being locked up.

Urban, thank you for all the work you put into this! It is great!

Diana, I so agree about the absolute abundance of nasty people in this one.

What I would like to see:

Ana Leticia: I want her to end up in jail/hospital for the "criminally insane" but only after she suffers the full rejection of her tío Mariano when he FINALLY realizes her incestuous intentions. Maybe she will kiss him in the lips or something. He will be so disgusted by her he will never be able to visit/talk to her again leaving her totally isolated and rejected from her object of desire. The rest of the family will also recoil in disgust and will abandon her.

Evaristo: Being aware of having murdered his own grandson and being aware of losing his sanity will be anvil enough for his sins. I hope he has enough moments of lucidity so he can manage to frame Orlando in his grandson's death. That would be a good one.

Soledad: I agree that she won't go to jail since she is the lost sister but she will never feel the complete acceptance in the family because of what she has done and will feel guilty because they were HER family all along. She will fret about it the rest of her days.

Iñaki, Valentín, Mariano, Edmundo: jail

Isidro: After getting "played" by Ana Leticia, Isidro will be taken for a ride by some other crafty young pretty thing who will marry him, take him for all she can get and leave him destitute.

Facundo: He will be totally rejected by the new and improved Satiago/Marcelo. Bye, bye!

I agree with all the comments. So fitting. But I wonder about Ana Let. She is so secure in her beauty and sexuality, and has it out there for one and all to see; so quick to point out Ana Laura's leg, even to the point of knocking on it recently. I wonder if the writers will pull a 'Ruby' (remember that one?) on her, have her in a wreck where she loses her leg (or both), and then her mind??!!

Julieta has mentioned that her husband left her, but she still seems to have access to his dinero. The gravy train has to stop for her. She should end her days working in a department store waiting on Ernestina.

Orlando: Dead man walking. Either Evaristo will do him in before the Alzheimer's does him in or it will happen in a very rough prison.

Iñaki: This will depend on what else he does. I think he should go to prison. But only for what he does and not what Ana Leticia will try to frame him with.

Valentn: He should die of cirrhosis of the liver.

Edmundo: Prison, since he fleeced Nerina and Ernestina's foundation. The ladies should get these monies back and Ramiro will never visit Edmundo no matter what.

Clawdia can have the pleasure of fleecing Isidro at the end because we will all need a laugh.

Facundo will have to accept Marcelo 3.0 or disappear from his life.

Mariano will lose all credibility with women and need to become a workaholic.

Urban: "Clawdia can have the pleasure of fleecing Isidro at the end because we will all need a laugh."

OMG, YES!!!!

Thanks for the post Urban

I seem to remember something about Facundo trying to pick up Leonore b/c he knew she was Ernestina's half sis and thought she would have $$ coming to her. Wouldn't it be wild if Facundo ends up w/Sole for the same reason and he is her karmageddon and his is that she doesn't get any of Ernestina's dad's $$?

I like Urban's idea for Claw and Isidro

It seems pretty clear that BadAna is gonna lose her marbles and Evaristo already has so that's them taken care of I have no idea how Inaki is gonna end up, I just hope its not too bad cause I still like him. I think Julietta is gonna end up alone and sad though, w/$ or without doesn't really matter

Orlando will probably get killed - I'm guessing by BAdAna

I really want Valentin to take out TioM. Sorry I know some of you guys like old blue eyes but I just want Val to get his revenge on somebody, and somebody who probably deserves it, and you know have like one really good day before he lapses into his bottle for the rest of his life

Thanks Urban! Yay, I now have something to read on my trip. This'll be useful and keep me entertained :) Will comment back later....

Iñaki is one of the most gorgeous actor in telenovelas right now. Too hunky to kill off.
I don't know how Rulli keeps his cool.

It's work.

I think most actors will say that shooting a scene meant to look hot and sexy is not that easy. Most people can't get the motor going in such a situation and have a lot to fake. Not to mention they don't get to make their own moves; scenes like that are blocked just like any other. Actors who get romantically involved have to live with seeing their significant others in front of the cameras with others from time to time.

Mariano is not responsible for what happened to Valentin; Valentin and Gina were. They did it to fleece him out of money and it backfired because of Valentin's paralysis, which was a pre-anvil (because it happened before we met him).

Pedro Moreno (Inaki) has a wife and kids. I think he keeps that ring on to remind him of that.

Urban, this was a masterpiece! I hope Edmundo suffers before he dies or goes to prison. And he needs to return everyone's money. He and Evilristo need a long slow and painful death and to know they have been exposed to everyone for their deeds. I have this vision of everyone passing by and spitting on their lifeless bodies.

There are many jobs in which wearing a wedding ring is ill-advised. In this case it isn't appropriate for the character.

Just as I wish Osvaldo Benavides would stop being a divo about his unibrow and the way he wears facial hair, but let's not get off topic anymore.

Why was my post deleted? It contained NO SPOILERS!! I only made reference to the fact that this telenovela will probably have a similar ending to LAZOS DE AMOR, hardly a spoiler given that I didn't mention ANYTHING about the original 1995 ending!

It encouraged people to look at that finale. We have a rule here that we don't talk about previous versions of these stories until after the series ends. We don't know who among our readers saw that series and who hasn't.

People don't need encouragement to look up anything. If they want to do it, they will. If not, they won't.
If I'd discussed any actual plot details from 1995, I'd understand the censorship. Saying that the original ending was iconic is hardly a spoiler. It's also no secret that 3VA is a remake.

Ana Leticia - Manicomio. She doesn't lose her beauty but does lose her personal grooming habits and looks prehistoric. Ana Laura and Tio continue to visit her and she still hits on Tio, much to his horror.

Soledad - Not prison, but she has to share Ana Lucia with her family.

Julieta - Though a self-centered woman to the extreme, Julieta does worry that Ana Leticia will hurt Iñaki. Julieta sacrifices herself so Iñaki can escape once the jig is up.

Evaristo - Alzheimer's wing of state prison. Still hiding the key and wondering why.

Inaki - A fugitive on the run for the rest of his life. He even hides out as a circus clown at some point. Sends Tadeo and Javier postcards with no return addresses.

Orlando - We all agree on this one - dead.

Valentin - Reconciled with his mom, unfortunately for her. His is the personality only a mother could love.

Edmundo - Disgraced for the corrupt accountant he is and in prison. Tries to lay a guilt trip on Ramiro and that peg leg wife of his for not moving heaven and earth to get his crooked a$$ out. "Remember, we're all family! Help me!"

Mariano - I believe this lifelong cheater is salvageable. He has the potential to be a good father and family man, but does Viri want to take on this project? Don't know, but those eyes...

Thanks Urban!

AnaLet losing her looks isn't enough of an anvil for me, after murdering Jenny. Ending up in an insane asylum would be good but I don't think of her as insane. She knows right from wrong and has premeditated all of her actions. I think she has to die but endings rarely go my way!

Sole should go to jail, half sister or no. Just think if it had been AnaLaura she saved. The girl would probably be locked n a room somewhere with no prosthesis and no way to escape.

Julieta has little left to lose but her next anvil will be finding out Inaki murdered Dan.

Orlando should be in jail I don't feel the need right now for him to die.

Val needs to end up in rehab.

Ed in jail.

Ev has got his. I just hope he doesn't murder Ram.

Mari has good in him he's just a patan and needs tough love, which Viri will give him.

Thanks, Urban - it's a great list.

Valenting: "complicity in .... general creepiness." Yes!! How funny.

Having read through all the comments, I agree with all of you that Soledad is probably going to be spared the anvil and there will be some tearful family reunion scene.

I do think though that they might kill off Ana Leticia - even though she is triplet, didn't they mention the church wedding between her and Marcelo, and if Ana Lu and Santi are to remain together by the TN rules, crazy Ana Le has to die. Besides, I think it would just be too much for the main couple and their happily ever after if Ana Le is still alive, albeit in manicomio. Unless, perhaps, Rulli remains in Santiago mode post the tumor removal? Though I have to say I was originally looking forward to him regaining the memory and realizing who his wife really is, and acting conflicted but normal, unlike this robot-puppy switch around we are actually getting.

Orlando has to die.

Edmundo will probably realize the error of his ways, ask for forgiveness and go to jail, as will Inaki . Although I can see the latter sacrificing his life for Ana Le or maybe even his father/mother to be redeemed?

Julietta will likely also ask for forgiveness and try to get close to Javier.

Clawdia will go away to find a different romantic victim. Though I definitely like your thoughts, Urban, about her and Isidro

Mariano unfortunately I think will get no punishment and will live with Viridiana happily ever after.

Valentin might try to redeem himself. Don't think they will kill him off.

As for Evaristo I am partial to our such well thought-out villain and at this point it would be better for him to die or commit suicide. He must be seeing that he is too far gone, and how he can live with himself after what he's done... He can't die though before revealing the rest of the truth that he knows.

SantMarc could get a church annulment on the grounds that Ana MeMeME entered the marriage in bad faith. We need that "first." Also, if she's in a manicomio she certainly will be in no position to fulfill any of the duties of marriage.

I'd love to see the look on the priest's face at this situation.

However, the statements about "the rest of our lives" and "till death do us part" are always omens in these tales.

I think Ramiro really isn't Edmundo's child so he has no interest in seeing him fail. But I don't think Edmundo is the Man With No Name. He isn't rich enough, but Rodrigo is..

If Ramiro isn't Edmundo's child, who is his father? Considering Edmundo's attitude, does any of this even matter?

We know nothing of Rodrigo's backstory other than he was a former suitor of Ernestina. Where did he get the seed money for his current fortune? He doesn't seem like a criminal, so I will be very angry with the writers if that is the final reveal about him.

One of the themes running through this series is "You can't handle the truth." Nobody has trusted anyone with the truth for a long time:

-- Tadeo never told the follow-up about Julieta to his sons
-- Inaki is not revealing what he now knows to Javier
-- Nobody who knew anything told Ana Lucia the truth about Soledad
-- SantMarc has not told anyone (except Ana MeMeME, the fool) about his brain tumor
-- Samuel is keeping quiet about a lot of things
-- Evarist has secrets we may never know the truth of
-- Valentin can't face the fact that Gina would eventually have fleeced and dumped him if he hadn't ended up in the wheelchair
-- Neither Valentin nor Clawdia can face that what they did to their mother was wrong

There has to be more to add to this list.

Put me on the list of those saying that Ratmundo must die. Any man who would agree to the death of a son he raised -- and said son is a good man despite him -- doesn't deserve to be among the living.

Urban, this was a work of art! Thank you.

When reunited with her "long lost family," AnaLu is going to receive so much attention AnaLet will be fuming. Any show of affection for AnaLu from Mariano may send AnaLet over the edge. Ram,get ready to save AnaLu!

In the end, I can see AnaLet in an asylum,"having lost her personal grooming habits and looking prehistoric" (Niece in MD), weaving back-and-forth in front of a mirror talking to herself.

Urban, to add to your list:

- Ernestina never discussed with anyone, other than Leonor, her previous relationship with Rodrigo - she denied knowing him when AnaLet asked straight out.

- Leonor has never trusted anyone, other than Ernestina, with the truth about HOW she is really related to Ernestina.

Annulments are not good enough in Mexican telenovelas. If the leading lady is to marry the man of her dreams (at the church, of course, otherwise it doesn't 'count'), he must be single or a widower.

Times have changed, Miguel. We don't see as many priests in novelas anymore and last year we had a parade of shrinks, some more accurately represented than others. The time is coming when annulments are granted for legitimate reasons to novela characters and not bought as they sometimes are in the real world by very wealthy people.

Still, can you think of a single Televisa telenovela where the main couple married after one of them got an annulment?
I'm not saying I disagree with annulments, simply pointing out that in Televisa world, that is still a taboo. In a country where hundreds of thousands take to the streets to defend 'traditional marriage and family', an annulment is not good enough.

I think the only examples I've seen of the main couple marrying, while the first spouse lived to the end, is when the first marriage was not done in the Catholic Church (either only civil or another religion). In Amor Bravio the heroine annulled her first marriage using the excuse that they had not consummated. I feel like that excuse must have been used in other tns, but I can't think of any. The ex husband ends up dead anyway (but he didn't have to for the main couple to marry). Then, the galan's first wife shows up after he has married the heroine in the Catholic Church. First wife lives past the end and they divorce-- but they had originally gotten married in a Jewish ceremony.

We've all seen completely unconsummated marriages before in TNs although I'm sure those are a serious rarity in the real world. I doubt that there are ant trustworthy stats due to the potential shame of the situation.

Urban- Usually the unconsummated thing is reserved for keeping the one of the protagonists (usually the female) virginal for the other one. But does it result in a Church annulment? Wait, didn't Nikki Briz in Amores Verdaderos marry Roy in the Catholic Church and later divorce him so that she and her galan, Guzman, could get married? That's a clear example I can think of. She and Roy did not consummate their marriage as far as I can remember.

I gave up on that one before it got to the middle. Nikki got on my last nerve.

Vivi No, they didn't consummate. Although Guzman thought they did, and got upset (strange, considering she's married and has every right to sleep w/ her husband). They annulled it and she was free to marry Guzman, and Roy to marry Liliana.

Marcelo uses both keys he has in his possession to expose both Evaristo and Edmundo. Edmundo faces a life sentence, and Ev dies broke & alone w/o any family to love him. Nerina gets her riches back and builds a mental rehabilitation center where her son, Valentin and Ana Leticia are put away. Inaki breaks her out and this TN Bonnie & Clyde drive off into the sunset off a cliff. The family are no longer obligated to her as they'd been for so long. Her inheritance is split between the 2 remaining sisters. Soledad is rejected by her daughter, and her new family. Nerina pities her and gives her a job at her center. Her charge is Ana Leticia, who she must be forced to contend with & whose face is a reminder of who and all she's lost. Julieta already received her karma when she lost the man she loved most, Daniel....& finally learns he was killed by the son she'd allowed herself to love. Her husband also abandoned her, so she's alone with her money but just as discarded as her former family once was by her. Orlando will die in a blaze in his car....caused by an oil leak. Claudia will be rejected by her mother, brother, and Mariano. Isidro will lose his fortune to Ana Leticia or charged for kidnapping and aggravated assault/lewdness. Facundo will have to accept Marcelo as is, or lose his son via rejection or death (from the tumor). Back to the caves with you! Mariano will win Viri back, but will lose a niece & contend w/ the knowledge that he enabled her affections for him. He may lose a leg in a car wreck. This would be payback for setting up Tin's work accident as a double scam (at Gina's insistence) and for neglecting Ana Lucia as she was growing up. After Ana Let confesses her love (maybe even kissing him), he runs off to his car. Ana Leticia jumps in the passenger seat, and once again attempts to take the wheel, nearly killing him & disfiguring part of her face. We don't see this until she's taken to the mental and rehab center, where she turns her head to look at her new caretaker, Solebad. Months later, she & Inaki will go off to enjoy the view of the cliffside and Sole will be reassigned to Valentin. FIN.

That was fun, but most likely won't happen this way. I would like at least 1 unexpected death (doesn't matter if it's villan or galan). I'd also like something w/ flames, either Orlando to burn or a valuable possession. Give me some fire! And I don't want a happy ending for at least one couple in this TN (I don't care who, just give me some realism). I also want at least 1 bad guy to get away with it (also, in part to getting some realism). I wouldn't mind if Facundo, Claudia, Isidro, Mariano, and Julieta get off w/o a scratch, but I def need Edmundo, Solebad, and Valentin to get some sort of comeuppance. Ana Leticia is a given, not worried about her anvil. And I know Inaki will get his, so I'm not gonna even rhap bohemian for the TN gods to let him go...

Me: Easy come, easy go, will you let him go?
TN Gods: Bismillah! No, we will not let him go.
Me: Dammit, not even Queen could do the trick *walks off with her FREE INAKI picket sign in tow*

I like your ending, Anna. Especially Soledad having to look after Ana Leticia!

Regarding anulments and unconsummated marriages, I remember an unconsummated marriage in Manana es Para Siempre, but I don't remember what happened to the husband (Sergio Sendel). He was a bad guy, though, so I'm pretty sure he was killed. (He had dissed his mother. Years ago, Melinama told us that people who diss their mothers ALWAYS die in TNs. The only exception I can think of was equivalent to death - being in prison with her mother.)

Inaki has dissed his mother a zillion times. Granted, she dissed him first. But now she's trying to make nice, and I think he may be doomed.

The DF has the "Express Divorce", (6 months, I think, just to make sure the wife isn't pregnant. Remember Teresa, that was heartbreaking and teary-eyed, watching them); but I'm not sure they consider that like an annulment. Probably doubt it.

Victoria- That's the civil marriage that can be ended by a "simple" divorce. But in the eyes of the Catholic Church, the couple is still married, even if civil law says they are no longer married.

Yikes !

Mr. Nabil…”Honey, I’m back.”
A Nabil: “Where were you so long?”
Mr. Nabil: Oh, baby, I ran to WalMart. Fluffy was almost out of cat food.”
A N: “This long? You’ve been out a while.”
Mr.: “Yeah, the car was acting up.”
“Uh Huh…..”What’s that red on your shirt?”
Mr. Nabil: “Oh that’s transmission fluid, from the car, it is red, and oily you know.”
CLICK ! ! (chambers a round)
AN: “Yeah right. Take off your clothes and kick them to me. And put these cuffs on.”

What an imagination Anna. Your ending is quite clever. I'm afraid I am no match.

:-) toa

Basically, if a galan/heroine had a previous Catholic wedding, the spouse must die in order for them to be married to their true love. Annulments are only considered if the marriage was not consummated, which is clearly not the case in 3VA.
Good women have died because of this rule, like in Amarte es mi pecado.

If the protagonist only had a civil wedding, then the former spouse doesn't have to die. Divorce is enough. See Inocencia in Marimar as an example.

>>Years ago, Melinama told us that people who diss their mothers ALWAYS die in TNs. The only exception I can think of was equivalent to death - being in prison with her mother.)
Corona de lagrimas is an exception to the rule.
Alternatively, they can repent but the mother dies and they have to live with that regret. See Angelitos negros, Teresa, etc.

Julie I can see why :P You liked that Solebad got what she wanted: To be a nurturer, except she gets stuck w/ a demon child!

LOL @ TOA, no I would not shoot somebody over kitty litter or red lipstick. But I do shoot finger guns when I'm dancing, and my mouth when I'm angry. I also shoot witty one-liners, but that's only for Sunday nights ($10 at the door).

Miguel I think this rule makes sense. The rule of closure. A blood sacrifice to sever any possibility of future reconciliation. Chapters like that need to be closed for good to ensure the audience never wonders "what if it doesn't work out". Easy, kill off the other option so the audience can move on.

Two Pennies (If you care not, fret not)
I think TN's in general need to ease off marriage, now that so many folks these days won't consider marriage, or even commitment a priority. Marriage has no real bearing on commitment anyway. Look at Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, or Oprah and Stedman. But Latin countries are so deeply entrenched in Catholicism, that it might be awhile til we see the equivalence of a commitment being something like a girl & guy tattooing their names, or leasing an apartment together (my heart is palpitating just thinking about it). I don't think it's a fear of commitment (heavy denial), but I think my generation doesn't like the idea of making long-term promises for an unsuspecting future or this imposed obligation & possession to another person. Freedom and autonomy is way more valuable than co-dependent living and tax breaks. I think being an individual where you share your life w/ someone is fine, so long as there are no expectations or conditions placed on the relationship. Expectations breed anxiety, Spontaneity yields variety ;)

You mean in Mexico, where hundreds of thousands marched last weekend to protect the 'sanctity' of marriage and traditional families? And those weren't just people in their 50s, 60s, 70s, but lots of young people too.
Telenovelas won't change like that because Mexican society has remained largely conservative. Tragic but true.

There was brief cohabitation in Una Familia Con Suerte between Violeta and... um... whatever his name was. Her boyfriend. It didn't go well, because she had been a spoiled fresa and didn't like having to do laundry on the roof. But clearly cohabitation isn't totally forbidden in a TN... just not very common, especially between the heroine and the galan.

Miguel Exactly, the culture is much too steeped in Catholicism to be liberal in their entertainment. Although, we are seeing more gay couples in TNs and out of wedlock coitus/pregnancies. I think in spite of what the puebla culture is, in the city and in Mexican Hollywood, the scenery is changing and so will its media.

Julie Well that's promising...and funny. I think they could turn something like that into a comedy, like Threes Company! It would be nice to see at least one couple that lives together, even an old couple who have been together for years but never married b/c oh, idk they have different religions or maybe they're running from the law. Or even something boring, I'd like a couple that reflects reality a bit.
